Indie Canadian line Zoologist will launch Rabbit, a new unisex fragrance, in May.
Tonight, the air is green with clover, hay,
and little clumps of grasses on the breeze,
unsettled dirt, the dusty mysteries
of rabbits tunnelling the dark. They stray
into the meadow, sniff the wind—bouquet
of violets. They hop in twos and threes,
their shadows cotton-tailed. Or else they freeze
when something feathered screeches far away.
They stand like tufted stones. But now the night
goes soft and jasmine-sweet again. A scent
of petals presses to their fur. There’s fruit
to eat. There is the skittering delight
of digging into earth, the sediment
of dreams perfumed with carrot-top and root. – Jehanne Dubrow***

I like the sound of this. At my mother’s house she had a big front porch and in the summer always put out large blue and white china pots full of vivid red geraniums. She would get so mad that the rabbits came onto the porch and ate the flowers off the geraniums! So I would expect a rabbit scent to smell of geraniums.
At our house the rabbits eat EVERYTHING 🙂
This does seem like it might be fun, and the bottle is sort of cute cute cute!
I haven’t cared for the last few from the line, some have a strong earthy smell and this one looks like it should with the “digging” theme, but not seeing anything like soil in the notes. I do love apple and clover, so this one will go on the sample list.
Well, I did go ahead and order a sample and will report back. I know my username suggests an affinity for rabbits, and I do like them quite a bit, even more so the last many years when I get to sometimes pet a domesticated bunny in the neighborhood since its hutch is in a yard near the sidewalk. But my username came about from part of an album’s name that I thought was fun and had nothing to do with actual rabbits.
I’ve never bought a Zoologist bottle, but this limited edition bottle is very tempting. Contingent, of course, upon actually liking the perfume enough for a fb.
