It’s Thursday and International Carrot Day. Birthdays: Dorothea Dix, Muddy Waters, Marguerite Duras, Maya Angelou. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am not racking up the points this week. I went with Honoré des Prés I Love Les Carottes.
Reminder: on 4/5 we're doing salt & pepper...wear a fragrance with salty notes, pepper notes, or both. (Thanks go to Calypso for the suggestion!)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Robin, you get points for wearing a carrot scent on International Carrot Day!
The weather is much cooler now, so I am wearing one of my favorite pepper perfumes – Lush Lord of Misrule. Patchouli, vanilla and black pepper – yum!
Nice! I have this one too!
Don’t worry, I gave myself points!
You smelled really good today! I had that one on my shortlist for this week but won’t get to it because I have other plans for tomorrow.
In Comme des Garcons Blackpepper for the CP. 😍
Happy almost Friday!
Happy almost Friday!😀
🖐
Another Alkemia, this one called Legal Tender.
Ha, great name.
I am wearing Lolita Lempicka le parfum, original.
I need lots of comfort and calm because i had to cancel my trip to Italy that i was looking forward to because of some health problems of my husband, stayed home with a big snowstorm!!
Oh no, I’m so sorry Hera! I hope your husbands health problems get sorted out!
Oh no, what a shame. I hope your husband will be all right and that you can dig out soon from the snow. I have seen photos already from three friends in New England (Vermont and Maine) with huge snowfalls.
So sorry about your husband’s health problems and your trip. I hope that he’ll be better soon *and* you’ll get to go!
I hope your husband feels better soon.
Sorry to hear the disappointing news. I hope your husband gets well soon and another trip can be planned!
You smell gorgeous, and I’m sorry about your husband’s health and the missed trip. My phone still showing rain-hope the snow disappears out at sea or somewhere other than my driveway.
Oh, no! Here is hoping that your husband recovers quickly and fully, and that you are able to reschedule that trip soon!
Oh I’m sorry to hear this on all the levels, Hera. Hoping you can reschedule your trip when your husband gets better.
So sorry, I hope he gets better soon.
Oh, no! I bet the trip to Italy would have been wonderful, but there is always another time.
Take care of your husband. Hope that snow leaves you too.
How disappointing, I hope your husband is OK.
I hope your husband is well soon! But always a disappointment to have to cancel a trip.
I’m so sorry that your husband is having health problems and you had to cancel your trip. How disappointing for you. I hope his health improves and you can go at a later date! Sending hugs.
Very sorry to hear that you had to cancel your much anticipated trip due to concerns about your husband’s health.
I hope things will get better for both of you.
I’m sorry for your husband’s health issues and hope you can reschedule your trip soon.
So sorry to hear about your husband’s health issues. I hope your vacation can be rescheduled soon.
Sorry to hear about the trip, hopefully you will be able to do it another time. 🍀 for your husband’s health
I’m in Abel Nurture for my one day of work this week. I took yesterday off as a recovery day and stayed home, did multiple loads of laundry and had the house to myself. It was really nice and I’m going to have to remember to do that if and when I travel again.
A recovery day is crucial!
Definitely need a recovery day, especially after a multiday trip.
Good morning! A spritz of Hermes Cuir d’Ange for yet another overcast day. It has a slight peppery nature, so I guess it counts for the CP?
Overcast here too. Boo.👎
Patiently waiting for the summer rays…
Me, too. I just posted that before I read what you and madtowngirl commented!
You smell gorgeous-I was almost going to chose the same, but I went with Narcisse Bleu. I love it. Even wore a blue shirt to match the bottle lol.
Perfume House twins.
Perfume house triplets!
Today I’m in CSP Amour de Cacao, salty chocolate and vanilla, so delicious, a real crowd-pleaser. There may be people who don’t like it but I’ve never met one. (The usual response is, “Something smells like cookies!” And that something is usually me.)
That sounds yummy, and dangerous — would probably send me in search of sweets.
This sounds really good.
Fragrance will be Costes body lotion for the CP (white pepper) and because it’s so unique. But first, heading to morning workout class. Almost looks wintery here again (Seattle) – gloomy gray clouds and windy after some nice sunny springy days. I know warmer weather is coming, though! I am so looking forward to a beer on our rebuilt deck (current project for Mr. SP) when summer is here.
A beer on the deck is one of my highlights of summer. Hope everything goes well for the deck reno!
Your summer plans sound great! 🍺
Today and tomorrow I will be wearing scents that have both salt and pepper notes. First up is Eau Des Merveilles.. (Thanks for the note from the other day Robin. We are all good😊)
Hiya scent twin!
🙂
Gray, gloomy day in LA, so I’m lifting my spirits with Cristalle EdT.
The perfect thing!
It’s my birthday so I scented myself up like a layer cake: Posh White Chocolate and Rose, topped with coconut lotion, sprinkled with Imogen Rose. I smell like a treat! Pouring rain today, alas, but Boyfriend and I have both taken the day off work and he’ll be here soon to build a fire and be cozy with me.
Extra achey, stiff, and bruisey today, so I think “cozy” is about the extent of today’s activities! Although this evening my bestie will be whisking me off for cocktails at a nearby restaurant, where I’m sure I’ll be incredibly chic with my grandma cane.
Oh, happiest of birthdays, Isabella! I hope fireside canoodling and Boyfriend TLC helps with the aches. 💕
Happy happy birthday, Isabella. I hope it’s a good one!
Happy birthday! Have a fabulous night!
Happy birthday, Isabella!!
Happy Birthday! Your celebration sounds splendid!
Happy Birthday, Isabella!. Have a great time tonight! 🎂🍸
Happy birthday.
Happy Birthday! Have fun with the boyfriend and the bestie this evening.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday, Isabella! Have fun celebrating! 🎂
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday! Sounds like a wonderful day — I like the idea of cozy!
Happy Birthday! I hope you are having a lovely day!
Happy Birthday, Isabella! 🎉 Snuggling with the boyfriend in front of a fire, how lovely! Plus cocktails with a girlfriend, yes, sounds like a nice b-day. You smell sweet!
Happy Well Scented Birthday, Isabella! 💐🎁🎂
Happy birthday 🎂!
Belated happy birthday to you! I hope it was a great day.
I’m in SMN Eva, my favorite scent with a black pepper note. In other news, my laundry equipment got temporarily reinstalled yesterday — woohooo! Sadly, the dryer has developed a problem (there were hints of it before the burst pipe extravaganza), which have now worsened to the point that it isn’t usable. Gah! I was looking up repair services, but Mr. G thinks it’s time to just replace the dryer, and he’s probably right. But in the meantime I STILL can’t do laundry here. Drat!
Much sympathy, my washing machine started malfunctioning during the pandemic–took about 4-6 weeks for one of the techs to come & take a look, only to promptly tell me it wasn’t worth fixing. Then due to supply chain slowness, another month to get the new one delivered. Can’t imagine having to deal with renovations on top of the no washing machine aggravation!
Oh god, at least we’re not in lockdown — were there even laundromats open for you at that time? I’m lucky enough to have relatives fairly nearby whose equipment I can use … and have been, since mid-January. It’s just that I was so looking forward to not having to schlep anymore, if you know what I mean.
How old is your clothes dryer? It might be time to bite the bullet and get a new one, depending on the age.
Drat indeed!! Hope you find a new one quickly.
Hello all!
Pulled out my Fzotic perfumes from storage and I’m wearing Au Dela Narcisse today. Wow, this stuff is just gorgeous! I bought one of his last bottles when he announced he was slightly reformulating, and I’m glad I did.
Have a great day everyone!
I love that one and I’m not even a floral lover. You smell like spring personified. The dry down is the die for! 💐
It’s so elegant! I love to smell it wafting off my shirt all day….
Au Dela Narcisse was love at first sniff! 🥰
You smell wonderful!
That one is good!
I have one of those older bottles of Au Dela Narcisse too. I’ve actually never sniffed the current version, but I do know you smelled great in the older stuff.
Rainy and cold today, and there’s even possibility of hail. It’s jarring after it being in the mid-70s earlier this week!
I’m staying cozy by trying my sample of Tonka Bodykon. Hate the name but the scent is nice, perhaps a bit too boozy for a morning of work.
I agree about that name. Horrible.
Ugh, I hope you don’t get any hail!
Dear fragrant ones,
Thank you so much for all your kind words yesterday about my not getting the fellowship.
I know I can always come to this little corner of the world Robin has created and cultivate for fragrant hugs and kind words.
SOTD post shower will be TF Tobacco Vanille. The day is cool and cloudy and I won’t be able to wear it much longer.
Just seeing this. Sending you a gentle fragrant hug, apsara, the right thing will come along.
I hope that you are feeling a bit better than last week.
I’m sorry about the fellowship apsara.
You smell wonderful. TV is a favorite.
So sorry to hear about your fellowship! This is a truly special community, and we’re here for you.
Yep, so special and kind.
So sorry apsara.
I wasn’t here and didn’t see this yesterday; I’m so sorry, apsara. Im sure they will regret it! Sending hugs and hope you can be kind to yourself and take some time to recover before you gear up again. 💗
Hugs 🍀🌈❤️
I’m sorry it didn’t work out for the fellowship. Sending you a hug.
It’s rain-snowing again today, but am encouraging spring in Vivacious.
I hope the encouragement works!
Rain. Once again, no CP points for me — was going to try, but ended up in Roísín Dubh. The nose wants what the nose wants.
Meanwhile, I — and all of my students — just want a nap.
Rain here too. I wish we could all take a nap.
Me three…wanted one all day.
Hello.
Sotd is F*ing Fabulous.
I am still gorging obscene amounts of food here in KL. It’s really hot here so my afternoon treat everyday is a bowl (or 2…) of cendol (shaved ice topped with pandan jelly, red bean, coconut cream and coconut palm sugar syrup).
I also bought 2 Amouages – Honour 43 and Material. I original intended to buy Guidance but it was sold out so Material it was. I also tested out the new Love Delight. Definitely not “Amouagey” and very easy to wear. Nowhere special enough to warrant the price tag. I got 2 samples of it. Let’s see if my opinion will change.
PSA! – The Secret Garden collection (Love Tuberose, Lilac, Mimosa etc.) from Amouage has been “updated” (read: reformulated). Now they come in matte pastel-toned bottles. Most importantly, the scents have changed, and IMHO, not for the better. E.g. Love Tuberose is noticeably less creamy and the yummy tuberose is now “watery”. What is was before – a decadent tuberose layered cake topped with chantilly cream is now a diet, low-fat version. I am so happy I have a bottle of the old stuff.
If anyone has been eyeing these Amouages, better run out and see if they have the original ones in stock and grab them!
Thanks for the warning. I do have, and love, the original Love Tuberose. What is Honor 43? I’m curious about it. I am envious of your afternoon delights snack over there!
Just yesterday, I nabbed Love Lilac. I will report, but thank you for the warning. Oh, and looks like FragranceNet has only the new version.
That sounds delicious! Hope you are having a wonderful time.
Your PSA contained such great descriptions!
Hi everyone. I chose L de Lolita Lempicka for the salty sweet caramel popcorn note it has, that Fragrantica doesn’t mention. I smell it clearly.
Cold and wet here, too. It will be so good to see the sun next time it makes an appearance.
L de Lolita had that beautiful bottle, too.
It’s really gorgeous. I love bottles with personality.
Yes! Where did they all go?! Everything now is so blah (with a few exceptions).
For some reason, I thought I had L de LL. Turns out I don’t. Lol.
Showers here the rest of the day, but no hail or snow, thankfully. I am wearing MDCI Promesse de l’Aube. No salt or pepper but I will participate tomorrow. Today is errands and tidying.
Oh my, that is such a stunning perfume!
This is my first fragrance this week with pepper. I’m wearing Angéliques sous la pluie. It has this gorgeous quiet presence.
It has been raining all week, I think even the vegetation is feeling that enough is enough 😉
Végétation Sous la Pluie! 🤣
😂
I’m wearing Bourrasque from Le Galion, another holiday purchase from a year ago.
Gosh has it been a year already?!
I’m in the gorgeous Parfum Sacre EDP today for the pepper note (which I luckily don’t really get). I don’t really like obvious black pepper notes partly because they tend to take over a fragrance. But I have plenty of wonderful perfumes in which the pepper note is blended harmoniously or isn’t the star, and that’s how I like it. 🙂
Yesterday I wore Maison Anonyme Vespero, which was fine but not a love.
We’ve got a gloomy, cool day after a bunch of nicer, partly sunny days. And work has been kind of annoying too so I’m really counting down until work is over and I can get out for a walk. I still look forward to my evening walks even when the sun isn’t out.
You smell wonderful, I share your feelings about pepper but when it comes to PS everything about it is so deep and rich.
I’m so cold today. I think I feel extra cold because we had such nice weather recently. Anyway, Parfum Sacre is a perfect choice for the day!
I’ve been cold today too. This morning I had to wear a cardigan sweater over my cotton turtleneck. Thankfully we should get some more 60 degree days next week, just in time for my birthday!
Yay!
Good for you on getting that afternoon/evening walk in, no matter what.
Today I’m wearing The 7 Virtue’s Vetiver of Haiti, thanks to a generous NSTer. I love this one and should wear it more often. This summer I plan to completely overhaul the inside of the camper because some of the organization details aren’t working efficiently. During that time I plan to go through all my perfumes and thin the herd. This is one that is definitely staying. 🥰 The job requirement is part time, 5-6 hours a day, 6 days a week, so I should have plenty of down time to get this done.
It’s cloudy and cooler here, no rain as of yet. T-Rex had half an egg-roll yesterday and is now a Chinese food convert, or so she tells me! Feeling very lethargic today because my sleep cycle is a hot mess. Will try to get at least one constructive thing accomplished today. I did do laundry yesterday so I don’t feel like a complete slugabed. Energy, I need energy…
Good luck with the project.
Thank you! I really love simple and easy efficiency, so I’ll see if I can come up with something better than I’m working with now.
I hope the new job is okay. Part-time work plus a good project sounds like a positive development!
It will definitely be 100% less stress! I’ll be mostly my own boss, camping in the woods next to a stream with my doggo 24/7. My only concern is it’s VERY remote with no cell service so hoping I run into nice people only. In reality, I’m more likely to get hit, kicked, punched, stabbed or shot working in a hospital, so there’s that! Can wear any fragrance, big or small, because I’ll be outdoors. There’s a lake nearby to visit for swimming, a dump station and fresh potable water nearby all on a minimally traveled road…I’m sure there will be some negatives but I’m not focusing on them. 🏕️
I think you will love it!
“Love it” would be great, but I’ll settle for peace and quiet and not having to gird myself for war just to go to work. That’s what I’m looking forward to the most. ✌🏼
No cell service? How will you survive? 😲
In anticipation of this I bought several books (paper books, not electronic) and will get several more on my list before I go. I will be straddling Maslow’s hierarchy of needs with one foot at the very base and one foot at the top of the pyramid. Quite sure I will lose my balance and fall on my 🍑 but it’s all part of the game, right? As long as my doggo is comfortable and we don’t cross paths with any serious hooligans, I’ll be happy. ✌🏼
I’m very excited for you!
Thanks, I hope the doggo is all settled in by now and less stressful for you. 🐕
I remember you took that job but didn’t understand exactly what your duties will be…you’re in charge of a camp site?
Yes, it’s a small remote campground at a higher elevation in Utah. Basically the job is to make sure the camp sites are clean and tidy, clean one toilet (it’s a pit toilet because no running water), possibly some painting and/or weed whacking, act as some sort of “presence” so campers don’t go wild and crazy, answer questions, make sure sites have been appropriately paid for, and collect money for the rangers. It seems very low key and I did do some research before applying and committing. It doesn’t pay much but I took the first offer to get my foot in the door. Next summer I’ll focus more on pay and location, hoping to get something along the PNW coast.
Well I hope that turns out exactly as low key as you’re expecting, and leads to greater things!
Just about has to beat nursing.
I’ve missed a few days, so first I’m seeing of the new job. This sounds so wonderful!
So does that mean you have a new summer job?
Yea, starting next month I’ll be working for the USFS in Utah for the summer.
That sounds fantastic! I’m jealous.
Congratulations, Deva! That’s fantastic! I’m so happy for you.
That sounds great, Deva!
I will look to the west and wave next month! Hiya, neighbor!
And I’ll wave back! 😅
No room to comment below. That sounds like an excellent plan!
Perfectly ripe pears and yogurt smoothie
It was the heritage version of Eau de Patou today and tonight it’s Miller Harris l’Air de Rien.
The Heritage Collection were so well done. And it wasn’t that long ago, either.
I agree.
You have inspired me to make smoothies recently! Mine was ripe pears, too, but with ginger, spinach, and oat milk. Tasty.
Do tell, what do you think of that MH? I have a bottle but haven’t decided whether or not I should open it. Does it hold its own in your collection?
It’s musky and dusty, very unique, it feels cosy and intimate to me, I’m a fan.
Smoothies are such a great way to increase fruit consumption.
Thanks! I just might open that baby.
Love using up pears that way, since I love them. Problem is, they always seem to go mushy before I get around to eating them. This is a perfect solution.
MCMC Noble today, so not CP-compliant that I know of. Trying to get excited about work but really all I want to do is nap.
It’s a nap kind of day here today.
I’m going to settle for going to bed early.
It’s raining and gross out and I am just plain grumpy. I need a nap. I’m wearing No.5 L’eau. So.. you know, at least I smell good 🌞
Hopefully the rain will stop soon, I think rain makes one sleepy. I like it very much but I rarely wear l’Eau.
Thanks Aurora. It finally stopped. I have a couple of dry days now to look forward to.
I wore that yesterday. It’s always a good choice.
It is so easy to wear when I am being indecisive.
You did get an Enabler Pin from me for No. 5 L’Eau! 😉
I wear it proudly!
You smell wonderful!
You know I do!
I need a nap too, as well as being a grumpy twin. Things are looking up though because I’m about to pull some fresh bread out of the oven! 🍞
The crummy weather is annoying but yes, you smell wonderful. Hope you got that nap or early bedtime, lillyjo.
I’m not doing the CP today. I saw Bois de Paradis in my cabinet and couldn’t resist, and sprayed on four really big sprays. And yes it sent me right into Paradis, a garden of cypress trees and spice and figs and rose! Actually I was kind of hoping that some of the spiciness in this was pepper but I guess not, according to the notes.
How lovely! You smell great!
I don’t think you can go by notes list …
Almost late to the salt-and-pepper party, with the black pepper notes in Les Perles de Lalique.
We finally got some clear skies in NYC today, although some subway lines were still recovering from last night’s flooding. Hoping that the sun will stay out for a while!
Smelling wonderful today, Jessica! Hope you all can dry out…
Started out the day with Avon’s Casbah, and finished with a spritz of Borneo 1834. Been busy this week getting ready for some family. Our area is in the totality of the eclipse, and almost at the last minute, I thought maybe some family would want to see it, so I put out an invite. Is anyone else in the path? All the schools, banks and many employers are shutting down in our town. The weather looks promising, and if it’s clear, the local public safety officials are planning for a big turnout from people in the region.
No totality for me with this eclipse.
But I did see a total eclipse back in 1979. The entire school was outside watching it.
I remember!
SOTD = Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur
One of the few jasmine’s I can smell, and a wonderful one it is! ❤️

So I finally got my HSBC balance via FedEx. It only took from March 21st to today, basically 2 weeks. I immediately got a 9-month CD even though the rate was slightly lower than the 60-day one…was worth not having to keep renewing at what I think would be a lower rate. Anyway, done!
Glad you got your money!
You and me both!
IIRC, you were predicting 3 weeks before you got your cash. So a little better?
Was tempted by Memoire d’une Odeur when it came out.
I suppose I should be thankful. At the very least, I did not have to show up in person!
Sampling Philtre today for it’s lovely carnation but black pepper is listed as a note so I’m on track
Philtre has been sounding very tempting. Are the samples reasonably priced?
You can get it from LuckyScent I believe.
I’d recommend sampling it through Indigo Perfumery if you like to spray rather than dab. They send 1ml in a 3ml atomizer bottle.
I really like today’s photo, Robin!
Had a couple of small carrots as a late afternoon snack to mark International Carrot Day. “What’s up, Doc?” 🥕🥕
Current temp is 76 degrees F. Got a Fire Weather Warning in effect as well. Too early for this much warm! I’d like to send some of this off to someone who would appreciate it. I’ll add a side of sunshine, too.
SOTD = Hermes Eau de Merveilles EdT, from The Sample Stash. I don’t like this at all immediately after I put it on. Really woody. It mellows out to something I can put up with after a couple of hours. Got salt?
76! That is too warm.
I keep telling myself at least it isn’t 80! More of the same tomorrow, and then a cold front comes thru.
Eh? Am I reading this correctly?
I really liked that one when it first came out, or thought I did. I realized a while back I “liked” anything that smelled new and unusual to my nose and I had never experienced one like this. But that doesn’t really equate to liking for the long haul. I have a bottle but it’s probably one I will thin this summer. WAY too early for fire weather! Hope I don’t get any fires near me this summer! 🔥 Really dreading summer weather…🥵
It’s going to be STOOPID dry tomorrow here. The weather guys and gals are saying around 15% humidity at most, with some places getting down to single digits.
The entire eastern half of Colorado will be under that Fire Weather Warning.
It could find a home with me! 😉
AnnE, I just looked and I lied- I have the elixir version in the orange bottle but if you like that one, it’s yours. Just shoot me an email at Taiga101 in the land of yahooligans.
Thanks, sweets! Emailed you.
I have to watch out for “it’s novel, therefore I must like it”. I’m looking at you, Hiram Green Hyde. (It IS good, but how often do I wear it?)
Wow, already? And it is waaaaaay dry. It seems like you’re getting more extreme weather than you were in NJ!
Volatile weather in Colorado is nothing new. My parents used to make jokes about “If you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it will change.”
But it’s a lot less green here than NJ! And no magnolias.
I remember once when I went out for a run in shorts and short sleeves and it was 65 degrees. I had not checked weather first. Within 30 minutes and at the furthest point in my run, it was down at 35 and then started snowing!
Ouch!
I will take your weather!
I wore AND ate my carrots today 🙂
I’d be more than happy to give you a week of it!
It has taken me three times to like this scent. The first time I tried it I didn’t care for it. The second time I liked it, but it didn’t seem to last. Now I like it just fine, and it lasts several hours. It seems as I have aged, so has my tastes in perfume.
I may have gone the other direction with EdM. I recall kind of liking it when I tried it in Sephora ages ago.
I should retry my sample of EdM Bleue and see what I think of it.
There are certain perfume notes/aromachemicals that didn’t bother me a few years ago that get on my nerves now.
I have not been sleeping well all week, and my routine has been out of sorts. Have missed everyone here.
Today I am trying to play along with the CP with Montale Orient Extreme. Like many Montales, it takes a while to settle down, but once it gets there, it’s lovely. It lists “spices,” so I’m just going to say that pepper is one of them.
It turns out that the few frags I have with a salt note are my summer ones. Still way too cold here for that. Flurries here today, but mostly unrelenting rain. 🎵”I feel like it’s rainin’ all over the world.”
I just hate not sleeping well. Throws everything off. I was awake at 3:30 this morning, but went back to sleep finally. Hope everything improves soon, including that we both get some sunshine!
Thanks, springpansy!
btw, I don’t think I ever mentioned that I love pansies, too.
Sorry AnnE, hope better nights are ahead!
Thanks, Robin! Last night was better.
Yuck. Hope that you get a solid night’s sleep soon!
Thanks, you hottie, you! 😉
Commando most of the day, added Maison Tahiti Floranilla after my evening bath.
Just gotta do maybe an hour’s worth of work tomorrow morning then I’m ON VACATION! So ready.
Ooh, are you going anywhere?
I’m doing a little road trip down to LA (from Northern CA) with stops in SLO, Ventura and Monterey. I stay 4 nights with a friend in LA. Haven’t been to LA in at least a decade!
What fun! Not a “little “ trip in my eyes, though! My DH once drove us down Hwy 1 from SF to San Diego, and it was the first time that I had gotten carsick since I was 10. 😝
