Saturday is World Meteorological Day, and we're marking the occasion with our usual open thread poll.
Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, your favorite fragrance for a rainy spring (or fall) day, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Happy weekend!
Sotd is Miss Dior Original.
My favourite fragrance for a rainy Spring day would be something bold or on the powerful side as I find humidity kills the potency and diffusion of perfumes, so I’d need to compensate. My choice is Youth Dew. Also because rainy days make me a little sad and I need a perfume that makes me happy.
I agree and went with SL Cuir Mauresque for the same reason. Dark & rainy called for something with heft.
Happy Saturday, all! It’s cold and rainy here today, so I am choosing Md’O Oudh Osmanthus. A tiny bit spring-like but warmth from the oud. I get some musk as well. Feels like a hug.
This is such a beauty. You smell fantastic.
Thanks, DeniseH!
SOTM is Eau Claire des Merveilles while I wait for the intrepid Mr. G to return with bagels and cream cheese. Later on it’ll be Eau de Laundry at my folks’ place, since my laundry room is still being repaired after our burst-pipe incident. Another 2 weeks before the drywall is all mudded, taped, sanded, texturized and painted — gah! At that point we will still have another 2 weeks before the flooring guy is available. This process is not fun, y’all. But meanwhile, all the cherry trees in town are bulging with blossoms and our camellias are too, so all in all it’s not so bad.
At least it’s getting fixed, though! Our magnolias and cherry trees are out, too — a bit of spring in the rain.
Ah, magnolias — so beautiful, but so messy!
It does seem like it is taking so long! But glad there is progress, and that you have someplace easy to do your laundry.
It’s taking forever, but part of the delay was our insurance company trying to lowball us. Our poor contractor is probably as tired of us at this point as we are of the process.
Oh gosh do I know about that whole story! I also had a garage/laundry room flooding incident. It went on so long and was very frustrating. Eventually the contractor actually dropped a few thousand dollars from their price because of the insurance man saying they were really out of line with it. That helped a lot! Good luck. You’re fortunate to have somewhere to go to do your laundry in the meantime.
Thank goodness you aren’t having to schlep your stuff to the Laundromat!
I’ll say! I hate laundromats, which is kind of funny because that was my dad’s business when he and my mom met. He was forever scouting “good locations for a coin-op” even after he got out of that line and started his own business. 🧺
This will forever change your mind about what a laundromat can be. 😉
http://www.spinlaundrylounge.com
When I was in college, my sister and I were at the laundromat and we came outside where a naked man flashed us.
Never un see some things!!
I am starting a week of incense in CdG Zargorsk.
It is raining cats and dogs today, so I will stay inside the whole day to continue with my declutering project. I am going slow, but I am making progress.
On my second cup of coffee and slice of avocado toast.
Happy weekend! 🌻
You smell great!
Thank you, Ockeghem!
Indeed, you smell wonderful!
Thank you, Apsara!
My 2nd favorite of the line after Kyoto.
My favorite is Avignon. I love all the incense line.
I love them all too and wish I had bottles of each one, prettily lined up in my perfume cabinet. Oh, and throw in Hinoki Laurel and Monocle while you’re at it.
I added the last bottle of the incense series to my collection last year. It was Zargorsk. It took me a couple years to get all the full bottles, but it was worthy.
You are inspiring me to continue on my declutter journey. I have made some progress, but sooooo much more to be done. More coffee needed.
Coffee twins for the declutering. So much energy is needed for such a hard and boring task. I am very determined to finish by the end of summer.
Decluttering is a massive project! It’s nice to be able to take your time though so nothing important gets missed.
You smell great by the way!
Thank you, Gail!
I hope my determination to continue with the decluttering stays strong. I get very tired at moments, but it is rewarding to see empty space!
As my brother has said with his decluttering project: slow but steady. Just keep at it. You’ll get there eventually.
Thank you, Jalapeno. Sometimes it is physically and emotionally draining. But it has to be done.
HI, all, cold but sunny today after the snow yesteday. I am wearing Tam Dao, soothing but energizing, in an attempt to get me moving, but nooooo… I have been watching a very entertaining real estate show call Cheap Irish Houses, which is about eager young couples wanting to move to the country in Ireland, and being shown 40,000 Euro houses with no indoor plumbing, “but a lovely view of the Atlantic Ocean,” as a pan of the surrounding area reveals windswept fields without a tree in sight…that was one of the worst ones, actually. If I were 45 years younger and felt like immigrating to Ireland, there was one old rather grand farmhouse with two foot thick stone walls, a slate roof, a series of outbuildings, also stone, in good repair, and another lovely sweep of land behind it with a view of the sea, which I would be tempted by. OH, well, not in this life. 🙂 But it is very fun to listen to the accents, occaionally there is an old man who is quite incomprehensible explaining how the hearthstone in this wreck of a house was set by his great grandad, or what not. In one epsiode, there was an old print shop, with all the printng stuff still just sitting there, being sold as is, and the engineer kept saying, this building is in an incredible state of preservation.
Moral of the story I am getting from watching this is build with stone, put on a flint roof, and make sure all your drainage plans and fields are in order before you start – that way your house should last forever with reasonable maintenance. Another thing about this show is how many people are wearing good cabled wool sweaters and colorful fair isle knitted scarves and hats, seldom matching, so not for fashion, but because of how pracical they all are. The real estate agent often looks chilled and shivering in her smart red coat.
We stayed in an old house when we were in the Aran Islands, and I could totally see buying that! Nothing wrong with a view down to the water from the kitchen as you wash your dishes, with the next door donkey braying. And…oh, the knitting!
You smell lovely, Meredifay!
I will look up that show, I think I’d like it. Your description of it reminds me of the movie The Banshees of Inisherin, with its old houses in the middle of amazing green pastures and sweeping ocean views. I spent ten days in Ireland last fall and absolutely loved those landscapes.
And the Secret of Roan Inish!
One of my favorite movies ever!
So gorgeous, that movie.
magical
Noted, thank you Apsara!
I’m joining you in Tam Dao today. The EdT, from a 10 ml sprayer that might have been handed out by Quatar Airlines (bottom label says Quatar). From my thrift shop. $2.99 and it’s 2/3 full. (Thank you to whoever donated this, oh anonymous person). Not sure how old it is but the sandalwood smells lovely. I guess my question is does anyone know how old this version might be and what do you all think about the Tam Dao reformulation since it’s hard to source Mysore sandalwood these days. Also, which is your fave, EdT or EdP?
I’m not sure about your sprayer, but I have a modern Tam Dao EDT, and it just doesn’t smell as rich or full as I remember. I had one of the square bottles back in the day.
I haven’t tried the current EDP, but I would like to for comparison.
I have small and large oval bottles of the current-ish EDT (they’re maybe as much as ten years old now) and they smell gorgeous. I tried a sample of the EDP recently and found it very different, and not very pleasant. Maybe the sample got corrupted somehow.
Thank you for this info SarahN and SheriG.
Haven’t been wearing much to comment on over the past few days, since we were at the spa & skiing. But now, back to real life in the rain at home. On Wednesday I did a comparison of Puente Eaden and PdE Azemour, and I smelled glorious all day. But I think I can just stick with the Azemour I already own — Eaden is lovely but Azemour’s a bit less linear and I like the additional citrus at the top.
My tulips and daffodils are finally growing again and ready to bloom, which makes me happy. They’d gotten a bit overexcited while we were having a warm winter, and then got chastised by the extreme cold snap we had in January. Since, they’ve looked a bit unhappy, but the warm weather we had last week finally convinced them, I guess.
Nothing better than a tulip to make me smile.
Daffodils are my absolute favorite. And there are so many fun varietites, just as with tulips.
Still haven’t seen any spring bulbs blooming here. But there’s also a good chance that no one has planted any in my area.
I woke up to rain this morning as many of you did.
Another late storm in the year for Southern California. Not complaining at all.
Slept for 11 hours. This final, final week of interviews knocked me out.
Laundry and house tidying today.
Listening to The Woman by Kristen Hannah about nurses in Vietnam.
My exhusband spent years there as a civilian working during the war and my brother in law (the sainted one – yes I miss him) was a medic at the same time who came home to become a nurse practitioner.
Got a sample pack of D’Annam from Luckyscent. Today will wear Vietnamese coffee post shower. Not really a gourmandy person, but I like a coffee not in Pekji Ruh and in Awake! so I thought I would try.
There is a tea scent also to sample.
FREEBIE ALERT – regular NSTERS and US only. Almost full bottle of
Guerlain Terracotta Parfum. Call first dibs, please.
Dibs please!
Done –
email me at vivienne dot elliott1 in the land of outlook dot com.
Done!
I will have to look for that book. The Nightingale is one of my favorite books (probably) ever.
I think its at the top of NYT best seller list.
I liked The Nightingale also.
Housekeeping twins.
Just wanted to say belatedly – how nice of you, apsara.
this is the nicest group I know!
Please let us know what you think of the D’Annam fragrances.
springpansy,
Here’s my take on the Vietnamese Coffee.
It’s more of a skin scent than my other coffee scents and it’s very lovely.
Yesterday around 4-5pm I laid down to read and could smell this delightful blend of coffee and sweetened condensed milk. Not overly sweet, not overly milky. Just like a cup of Vietnamese coffee!
I have it on again today. I really like it as some coffee scents really blast.
Sounds really good. Thank you.
Another rainy day in the forecast but that’s spring in the Pacific Northwest. I’m wearing Amarige Harvest Mimosa. I got it some years ago in a swap here and I love it. I have never smelled the original Amarige and I should fix that. Tomorrow is an invitational swap at Fumerie and so I am hoping for some new frags to replace some unloved ones.
I looked at the Sephora site for the new Prada Infusions and all the 10ml travel sizes are sold out. I wouldn’t buy them blind anyway but still, that was fast!
Ooh, fun! I wish there was a good perfume store here.
Have fun at the swap!
You must read the review by Luca Turin in the original 1994 guide on Amarige, it’s a howler.
ha I remember that review.
Let us know what you get so we can live vicariously!
Ditto, I want to know!
That perfume swap sounds so cool. Enjoy!
The Fumerie swaps are invitational now? They must have gotten too popular! Hope you end up with new treasure.
Feeling a little calmer today and stuck at work until 8 pm today. Wearing vintage no 22 edt today. Vintage no 22 seems to smell better in cool weather.
Glad you are feeling calmer today Dawn.
Calm is always helpful!
Glad you are feeling better today Dawn.
Good to hear that you are feeling better today.
You’re smelling great.
Dreary morning calls for something warm and comforting – Tom Ford’s “Santal Blush.”
Lovely, haven’t seen that one mentioned in awhile.
I’m in glossier you. I know I’m not the target audience for this one, but I absolutely love it.
Thanks for the merit makeup convos yesterday. I ended up getting the flush balm and day glow highlighter. Omg, the blush goes on SO evenly and smoothly! I am throwing my nars right in the bin, lol. Now I want to try the whole line.
After yesterdays snow and gray sky, we are back to sun and blue skies.
Just got off the phone with my gradtowngirl and she was crying. Her laptop won’t turn on this morning and of course her whole life and coursework is on it. I’m am anxious that I am 200+ miles away and cannot help her in person, or more importantly give her a long hug and tell her that everything will be O K.😭 Fingers crossed it is an easy fix.🤞
Now i want to try their blush, i love their lipsticks too.
Try it! It just glides on. So, so gorgeous. Which lippies do you have?
i have signature lip in Baby (natural beige colour), Cabo (orange red) and tinted lip oil in Mapleton.
I just picked up Antibes matte.
Not good having Sephora right next to Whole Foods. 🙂
Yikes, I had computer problems this morning, too — and since it is a weekend AND the end of Spring Break, knew there would be no one on campus to help me. Fortunately, after three restarts and a network switch, a security patch kicked in and I’ve been able to work since then. Good luck to your daughter! Maybe her school has better IT help availability than mine?
Thanks! Yes, a Saturday morning glitch is not ideal. Keeping my 🤞.
Best of luck to gradtowngirl. I know that panicky “tech problems” feeling well.
Argh. There must be something in the air today. My Internet connectivity was kind of glitchy for both the cell phone and laptop earlier.
Fortunately, whatever was happening here was short lived.
Hope gradtowngirl’s computer is working now!
Snow overnight — 4”. Cold and grey again today. Commando ATM but thinking about Bandit, because why not.
4″ does call for Bandit!
Late cold rain for Los Angeles today. Persolaise did a Spring scents round up which inspired me to pull out Jour d’Hermes Absolut this week. Gorgeous remnants of yesterday’s sprays on my hoodie are assuring I’ll wear it again today. Ellena’s take on the abstract floral, I’ve come to appreciate this more and more, and it’s perfect for SoCal Spring. And Spring cleaning/organizing, while listening to historical non-fiction “Young Queens” by Leah Chang.
Yes, a chilly, damp LA morning, but at least you smell fabulous. LOVE Jour d’Hermès, (and love Persolaise.)
The Absolue was really really pretty.
JdH Absolue surpassed its perfume parent, IMO.
Didn’t post my SOTD yesterday, but did wear No 19 Poudre in the evening, since it has been mentioned a few times recently and fits the CP.
Dinner with friends last night was followed by a visit to a piano bar where “dueling” pianists were playing requests that the audience would sing along to. So much fun. We were a lovely group!
Continuing the green theme this morning in FM Synthetic Nature (nee Jungle). Lovely, though at FM prices, I don’t think it scratches an itch I can’t scratch with other things in my collection.
It was a long, stressful work week (I’ve been saying that for a while now), but dedicated a few hours this morning to organizing my project tracking system / to do list, getting a bunch of stuff out of random pieces of paper. Feel so much better and in control.
I’m going to put in a few more hours tomorrow to get through a bunch of tasks I keep not finding time for.
Sorry you are having to put in weekend time to catch up, but I know that feeling and glad it is making you feel better.
I like making lists at work, too. If I don’t write it down it doesn’t seem to get done!
Hello and happy Saturday!
I’m wearing Puredistance no. 12 today. Opardu and no. 19 have also been in rotation since spring has sprung.
Most everything is in bloom here in GA and the pink magnolia blooms have already come and gone.
I’ve been enjoying long walks as the weather is just perfect at this time of year.
I was at a business the other day and saw a gorgeous tree just covered in pink blooms. I thought it was related to the Orchid Trees we have in Florida, but nope! I ran into the gardener who said it was a magnolia! I had to compliment her because I always make it a point to stop there when I’m passing through in all seasons, and the grounds are always just stunning. Anyway, for some reason I thought magnolias were white, but she set me straight. Just an incredibly beautiful tree. 😍
Hi Deva!
I am no connoisseur of plants but google tells me there are endless varieties of magnolia trees and I think I’ve been able to identify the ones I mentioned above (pink flowers, blooming in late winter and early spring) as Saucer Magnolia (Magnolia x soulangiana) also known as “tulip trees” and “Chinese magnolias”. Of course we also have the majestic looking Magnolia Grandiflora (Southern magnolia) which bloom in the summer.
P.S. I continue to enjoy reading about your travel adventures. 😊
We also have both the pink ones and the giant Grandiflora southern ones, but I have seen photos of yellow magnolias too, and they look very beautiful.
And don’t forget star magnolia, which can be white or pink, plus there are yellow magnolias…
The sun came out this morning, for how long no one knows so we made the best of it did a nice beach walk. There is a trail here that’s about 5 miles round trip but it’s closed due to felled trees. There is another about the same length that goes out to the tip of the point which I contemplated, but when I researched it there are several areas where the trail goes right along the bluffs with nothing but a bit of grass between me and the pounding surf a few hundred feet below. I had to nope out of that one, even though I’m disgusted with myself for doing so. Plus, I don’t think it’s an appropriate trail for doggo who is very keen on getting right to the edge of things and looking down. The older I get the more heights bother me and I have no idea why.
I’m finally wearing a nice transition scent that bridges winter and spring perfectly: Sonoma Scent Studio Equestrian. According to the website notes are:
“With top notes of apple and grass, heart notes of leather, hay, and violet, and base notes of sandalwood, cedar, moss, and light amber, Equestrian is an outdoorsy yet civilized take on a hay and leather theme.”
I have only 1cc left from a 5cc travel spray. I often wonder how Laurie is doing since she sold her business, and if she’s in any way still involved in fragrance. If anyone knows, please update us. She was such a sweet and kind lady.
I’m with you on the heights, Deva, so I applaud your wise decision not to take that hike, however tantalizing. Also, the rain might have loosened some of the earth at the edge. I get chills just thinking about it. Good call.
Glad to know I’m not the only one!
I just read about the upcoming Papillon scent, Epona – I’m guessing it will be right up your alley if you like Equestrian!
Yes, I was so excited when I saw the notes! Very much looking forward to testing it out.
Ooh, where can I find out about this?
It popped up on my IG because I follow her but I’m sure her website has info.
You aren’t the only one. Heights didn’t bother me when I was a kid, but they certainly are an issue now as an adult.
There were a couple of highway bridges I drove across in the UHaul that had me holding my breath until I reached the other side.
Yeah, towing something adds another level of anxiety! Had you towed anything prior to this big move you made solo?
Only as a passenger, never as the driver.
And the UHaul I had was one of the small ones. The stuff I couldn’t handle on my own went into the moving van.
Wore Masque Milano Lost Alice for a 5k run this morning in the rain. Came in second for my age group (50 – 65). Very excited — although I will admit that the group wasn’t large. Whatever, I’ll take it! 😁
That’s nonetheless.
Congrats!
Congrats! The one time I “ran” a 5K (in my 30s), I definitely got some looks for being one of the last people to cross the finish line.
Congratulations on the run! And you smell fantastic, of course.
Congrats!
Thanks, everyone. I’m really not a runner. My time was quite slow and as I said, the group was small. And even though it’s just for fun, I was still quite pleased to come in second. I came in second in this race last year as well, but I think the age categories were different. Next year I’ll be in the 66 and over category and will try for a blue ribbon (the number in the age group will likely be even smaller so maybe I can do it!).
Go springpansy!!
My dad ran until he was 80. He always won due to his age group. He ran for nuns, he ran for pies. Didn’t matter.
His last run was at Disney for the half marathon and my brother in law walked it with him. We had his favorite run shirts made into a quilt.
You just keep running like Forrest.
Love this, thanks!
Great story. Very inspiring! Forrest is a lovely name too.
Congrats on your 5K results!
😀 thanks!
In Astier de Villate Commune de Paris with its lovely lemon and rosemary notes.
You smelled great today allo! AdV has done such a nice job with fragrance.
I was in DelRae Mythique this morning because Coumarin mentioned DelRae yesterday. Mythique is so pretty but SO STRONG.
Ended up going for a walk in the park this afternoon, and just took a shower before I head out to dinner and a philharmonic concert with a friend. Now I’m in beloved Ivoire.
Sounds like a great day all around.
I was housekeeping today but am now finished for the day. It was somewhat colder today, 9C but very sunny so the living room which thanks to many windows gets sun all day was very pleasant to clean.
I wore Liz Earle No 1, a 97% natural perfume, with all the citruses it’s an incredible mood booster but still has body to it, it’s not a cologne, it’s a citrussy chypre. I’ve used half a bottle already. Contrary to No 9 this one is not discontued. Liz Earle is a UK brand, I think No 1 would do very well in the US perhaps it has a distributor, I don’t know. Tonight it’s The Cotswold Perfumery Cymbelline, this vintage version is full of what might be Mysore sandalwood given the age.
You used to be able to buy it here but not at all sure that you still can. Great scent!
Thank you Robin for answering, it really is lovely and has remained quite affordable, she also has skincare products but I’ve never tried them.
I haven’t tried the skincare either, but the first few scents were here, maybe Bloomingdales had them? Can’t remember, but I know you could try them in a department store.
SOTD = St. Clair Scents Blue Marble
Hello there NEWEST OF THE NEW, the one that broke my No Buy. I naughtily bought this largish sample because I just had to. How does this smell? The first word that came to mind was “coolth” (meaning pleasant, low temp). It is quite the opposite of the effects of global warming but perhaps this is a hope to not get there? Anyway, it also smells mineral, earthy and floral, a great combination!

I think I mentioned watching Brooklyn 9-9 on Netflix. To my consternation, only the first 4 seasons were available. I looked up how to watch the other seasons and there was a complicated way to do it via VPN (I think) but it is not free. So what did I do? I signed up for Peacock and hopefully I can cancel within 7 days (free trial) and if not, $5.99 + tax for a month is not bad but I do not need to pay for another streaming service and will cancel before the month is up. The commercials annoy me although I am OK with the ones on Prime.
I’m the person who signs up for things for a single event (the Oscars, some sports event when my parents are visiting and Dad must watch), then forgets to cancel for 6 months.
Thanks for reminding me 😂 I’ve got to cancel Disney+ and YouTube TV
Oy! I try to cancel ahead as long as I remember!
I signed up for Paramount+ just to watch the Superbowl, then canceled about a week later.
I still don’t have an antenna for my TV. But there have been other things competing for my attention and money.
Me too. But then I got suckered into a few shows on there, so I’m going to keep that one for a bit.
Can you get an antenna?
Oh yeah. They’re sold on Amazon, at Best Buy, at Home Depot, etc.
Watching TV hasn’t been high on the priority list lately. Not even Jeopardy!
Ah, just said that!
Above comment is in the wrong place, sorry. I was wanting to say, I just was wondering if anyone on here has tried the new St. Clair scent, so I’m very glad to read what you had to say about it. It sounds unusual and interesting. I think I’ll order a sample too. Her work is unusual and I haven’t liked all of them but feel they are must-try scents.
Call for recommendations! I’ll be visiting LA in a couple of weeks (haven’t been for at least 15 years). Any perfume shopping recommendations?
I know Luckyscent has a shop. And I can certainly google. But if any locals (or past visitors) have recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
Luckyscent is your best place, I think.
There is a store in Beverly Hills called Beverly Hills Perfumery but the parking is terrible and they carry a lot of what Luckyscent does.
I was just going to post this exact thing, Apsara. IIRC, it’s been years, but the owner once carried some vintages if you are into that.
Also, if there is anything you especially want to try at LuckyScent, I believe you can contact them ahead of time to ensure they have it in the store when you are there (some things are stored elsewhere).
I wore Apres L’Ondee today, courtesy of a lovely NST’er. It was a perfect day for it since it was cool and a bit rainy.
Question.. Do you guys keep perfume boxes?
I keep all my perfume boxes in rolling bins under the bed. I don’t know why I keep them. I’m filling up a third bin and running out of room!
Great idea! I don’t really want to get rid of them but they take up so much space. I have an old wrapping paper container that fits under the bed! Hmm.
I keep all my bottles in their boxes, except for the few that I receive as swaps or freebies that come without the box.
I currently have all mine still in their respective boxes. But it’s a bit cloggy looking! Might have to re-juggle things.
I have boxes galore and now that my perfume fort is finished, I’m going to use some of them to decorate. I have also taken to flattening some boxes so as to make more room.
Ooh, perfume fort! Decorating with them sounds lovely and artistic.
Can’t wait to see it! Going to be so gorgeous.
Most of my perfumes still have their boxes.
Thank you! After all, I think I’ll have to keep mine as well. They will keep the juice better by not being exposed to light plus if I swap something, I do like to provide the box if possible. The downside is the space they take up.
Packing up the perfumes which had boxes was easier than bubble wrapping the ones that didn’t!
That’s one of the reasons I keep mine in boxes (which I posted below). I also don’t have a place protected from light to display them.
You know how big my collection is… I would fill my whole basement with boxes! So sadly I just have to throw them out. I only keep a few exceptionally pretty ones, or ones I’m not sure I love and might resell quickly.
That makes sense! I’d love to see your collection one day!
I toss the boxes. My collection is too large, I don’t have storage space, and I am unlikely to ever sell anything. If I gift you an unwanted bottle, you’re not getting a box. Oh, well!
There is an OCD/hoarder corner of my brain that has a problem getting rid of the boxes, but I fight it. And now that I haven’t kept any, it doesn’t make sense to ever start. Phew. Because I do not have the space.
I do keep my collection in a closed cabinet, so the bottles are all shielded from the light.
I do keep true vintage bottles in their boxes, though.
I’m sure I have that same OCD problem!
I do keep all the boxes, in bins on the top shelf in my bedroom closet. I should probably think about flattening the ones that can be flattened because I too am running out of room in said bins. I should also think about changing to plastic bins, now that I’ve seen up close and personal what water leakage does to cardboard. 😩
Oh no! Water damage is no joke. I hope you didn’t lose any precious scents.
I do mostly keep my perfumes in their boxes. I then have those boxes in a couple of pretty (and fairly large) Container Store boxes that fit nicely on my closet shelves. This has drawbacks other than taking up space and not being as pretty a display. I have to look through fairly frequently so I don’t neglect any.
Great idea though. No bottle wants to be neglected!
I do keep the boxes except if they are very ugly😃
This made me laugh!
Some of the perfumes I purchased did have boxes, but if those boxes were damaged I threw them out. So that was my getting rid of ugly boxes…
😃 You’re right about damaged boxes of course.
Haha! I’ve had a few ugly boxes too!
Day 2 of my incense week. Wearing April Aromatics Calling All Angels.
It is horribly cold outside and very windy, but at least it is a sunny day. Having my first cup of coffee and almost on my way out to church to start Holy Week.
Happy Sunday! 🌻
That is such a fantastically deep and rich fragrance. I would not want to wear it every day or in warm weather but it sounds perfect for a cold day.
Windy and chilly here today. I’m waiting for the predicted rain this afternoon that is supposed to turn into snow overnight.
More nuisance snow.
We don’t have snow in the forecast, but it will be a cold and rainy week, except for tomorrow. It has been freezing today.
I wore Iris Shot yesterday and today I’m in 1725 from HdP.
https://www.instagram.com/p/C43AtcBIpea/?igsh=ODE5Zmx4Yndhcmhq
Oh my — your photos are always so beautifully done.
Wow. Amazing pic.
Yesterday I wore Grandiflora Queen of the Night and I think I’ll wear it today once I’ve gotten all cleaned up. It’s beautiful and very springy.
I’m glad to report that my brother has been improving some and might even be able to get discharged tomorrow. He will still have to recover from pneumonia for awhile before he can get his next chemotherapy treatment. When I saw and heard Princess Kate’s message I felt so sad for her and her family to be going through this. Cancer is certainly an equal opportunity disease. Rich or poor makes no difference (except of course in your ability to get treatments). I see people of all races at the cancer hospital here, Asian, black, white, Middle Eastern, Indian, Latino, and all the poor sad family members. I almost screamed at the people across the street smoking–I could barely stop myself from getting in their face and yelling at them STOP STOP STOP. I was just so angry. And of course the next thought I had was about Kate losing that beautiful hair. They have improved treatments by now so that you don’t necessarily get the terrible nausea they used to cause, but they WILL cause you to lose your hair.
When I worked at a middle school in Colorado, one of the parents who was a lung surgeon used to take the kids on a field trip to see the results of smoking. Not sure what he actually showed them besides lungs that looked black, but I know the teacher felt it was quite meaningful for them.
OMG!! I remember seeing one of those black lungs when I was in elementary school in Colorado! Pretty sure seeing it contributed to me never smoking.
Glad your brother is feeling better. In losing hair, I read that wearing a cold cap can help reduce losing hair. Of course we’ll never know for sure because wigs look very real.
Morning perfume people! I’m wearing Chanel Le Lion for another cloudy rainy day. My decant is almost gone, I have about 1/2cc left and then no more Chanel for me I guess. I had some rather nebulous plans to get the Parfum version of Bois des Iles in the future but time (and perfume!) waits for no woman, I guess.
Yesterday at 930pm there was a rather aggressive knock on my camper door. I was already in bed because I’m old. So, it startled me quite a bit because I certainly wasn’t expecting anyone. Turns out I had made an error when I reserved the spot and the knock was because the knockers arrived very late to find their spot taken. Anyway, profuse apologies on my part and since it was pitch black I hustled into the truck and moved into the over flow spot until I could speak with the ranger in the morning about my mix up.
At 630am BAM BAM BAM! on my door. Opened it find a very angry and militant ranger who quoted (verbatim) about overflow parking, no camping, etc., etc., etc. Tried to explain what happened but she just cut me off and said I should have found another site (sites here are not marked as to available, reserved, etc so I would have risked a repeat performance) in another loop or gone to the camp host. Like this was a very high stakes, high priority problem. I mean, I never thought of bothering a camp host at 930pm, which would also entail me having to tromp through the rain across the entire park in my Jammie’s and slippers, to possibly wake up an off duty camp host to ask “What should I do?” Was I wrong? What would you have done?
Anyway, I left luckily-split and just pulled into a park for a very late breakfast and coffee in the town I’ll be working in. As I pulled in, there was a sign that said NO RV’s allowed. This is a public park with plenty of parking. So now I’m just waiting for the police to show up and escort me out. 🙃
Oh dang Deva. I don’t know what I would have done, but I am guessing I might have cried after getting yelled at. Do you have a place to go tonight?
Well, my plan is to pick up some stuff I ordered from an Amazon locker here in town then show up at the hospital and let security know I’m overnighting in the hospital parking lot. It they say no bueno, I’ll say Bye-bye. This is a very small town and a critical access hospital so good luck finding anyone who will work here, especially since they can’t pay what the big dogs pay. I’m not paying 2-$3000 to live in a hotel or rent a room somewhere, no skin off my nose. I’ll just head towards Utah and camp my way to my summer job. She didn’t make me cry, but she did make me mad, so I had to do a self check as to why that was. Anyway, who knows, maybe she had a hangover or her husband is dying cancer or she just has anger issues or she’s ex-military and this is how she always communicates? She’s unhappy and I’m not. 🙂
Hope you’ll soon have a cosy spot.
You weren’t wrong. The ranger is either cranky in general or having a bad day. You were trying to do the best for all under non-ideal circumstances. The ranger just didn’t have any grace to give others that day, which says more about them than you, and is not something you can control.
I hope you land in a good spot tonight!
The ranger was being an (redacted). No need to get your undies in a bunch over something like that.
Boo hisssss 🐍! I hope you get your situation straightened out!
Wow! What an ordeal! I hope you’ve found a better spot for tonight.
Yesterday I did some sampling of FM Heaven Can Wait and a couple of Xyrena samples that just arrived (purchased before my No Buy started; took a long time for them to fulfill the order). Heaven Can Wait is lovely, don’t need it. The Xyrenas are curiosities only (so far). I tried Plastic and can’t remember the name of the 2nd. Will discuss them another time.
So far today, I’ve continued on the green spring theme with Cabochard.
Managed a bit of work on the front yard today: ripped out about 15 plants that weren’t doing well or weren’t achieving what I’d wanted them to achieve. Planted 3 more plants that I found at the nursery yesterday. They didn’t have a lot of stock yet, in the categories I was interested in.
My soil is heavy clay, and I’m in inland Northern CA so we have extreme summer heat combined with cool winters (no snow though). I’m still figuring out what works here. What’s done REALLY well are kangaroo paw (I have a couple plants with flower stalks that are 5 feet right now), a variety of native CA sage (at 1 year old from a 4 inch pot, it’s now 4-5 feet tall), some native CA grasses, and pink muhly grass. The 3 new plantings today were more kangaroo paw, the last the nursery had.
After the yard work, spent 2 hours on work work. Will do another couple hours in the afternoon. Sucks, but going into the week not feeling so behind will be huge for my mental health.
Made me feel better that Heaven Can Wait is lovely but you don’t need it…I have not even tried it and might not.
Had to google kangaroo paw. Those are gorgeous, and I bet it looks nice with the muhly grass.
Wearing Pamplelune today after watching Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez on Eau My Soul. It’s soooo good.
We have a grapefruit tree in our backyard and I’ve killed several electric juicers over the years juicing fruit for friends and family, so I do like grapefruit, and I’ll probably try my bottle again when it gets warmer, but it always goes a bit sour on my skin (need less pample, more lune, perhaps) so it might go into my swap pile.
I know what you mean about the “pample”. The first time I smelled it, I detected an odd note. The fact that it smelled different today might very well be explained by the Luca Turin effect😊
P.S. I’m so envious of all of your citrus “growing on trees”😋
