It's Hump Day, plus the International Day of Happiness. (Also, the UN French Language Day and Fred McFeely Rogers‘ birthday.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm copying madtowngirl's Tuesday choice, in Jour d'Hermès.
Reminder: on 3/22, it's spring! Wear a spring floral, or any fragrance that says spring to you (if you're in the southern hemisphere, adjust accordingly.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am in VC&A First. Not a green floral but a spring scent for sure. So gorgeous!
Yep, you smell great Glannys!
Love this one! Thank you for the reminder🌸
House twins! I hope your wound is feeling less sore and itchy now and spring is arriving where you are. There is a large Ukrainian flag painted down by our railway station and I think of you every time I drive past. Below it are lots of wild flowers
💗💖
Spring is definitely arriving, although winter does not give up yet.
Yes, the wound and skin around it are much better now – thank you.
An early Ellena masterpiece, yes, you smell of spring.
We share the same perfumer, but not the house. I’m in another early Ellena, La haie fleurie. You smell wonderful!
I am wearing Delacourte Fiorentina, powdery goodness.
We had some snow last night so it doesn’t feel like spring. I have a book launch event tonight, looking forward to that.
Fun! ( the book launch, not the snow!) enjoy!
Your fragrance sounds really nice.
Oh yay, you smell pretty Robin! I was eyeing up bottles of that one on evilbay and they actually made a cute 12.5 ml spray bottle that would be the perfect size. I may have to get one. Most minis are dabblers and I do prefer to spray.
House twin in Sur le Nil. The sun was out in full force this morning and this is the time of year where the angle of it shines directly in my eyes on my morning commute. I’m not going to complain (because: sun!) but it does make it a little tricky to see the stoplights. In a few weeks it should be higher in the sky and it will no longer be an issue.
Wow, isn’t that cute as a button??
Spring greenery day 3, and my tradition for the first day of the season is to retire Yves Rocher Nature Millènaire Pour Homme (the most autumnal thing ever) for six months and break out YR Homme Nature, the perfect early-spring scent, every green growing thing you can think of all at once. Pure joy.
Plus, cool bottle!
Hello.
Sotd is Lush Goddess. I paired it with their LE Oudhness shower gel (for Eid) which smells exactly the same. Not sure it smells that divine but it does make me very happy!
Happy is good!
Glad to hear someone has tried that particular LUSH showergel. I thought about buying it blind. But I easily have a dozen or so showergels already.
I’m joining Robin (and, belatedly, madtowngirl) in Jour d’Hermes. Love love love this one!
Hey twin!
👋🏻 😁
In Jo Malone Orris & Sandalwood.
Happy Wednesday!🪻
Happy Wednesday pl67!
Thank you, Robin!
You smell wonderful!
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
Happy Wednesday back atcha!
Thank you, Jalapeno!
Happy Wednesday back atcha!
Today is “Coromandel EdP.” I’ve got lots of driving to do today, but at least the car is gonna smell great.
perfume twins!
You smell great!
You and pfsh smell wonderful.
You smell wonderful. Commando right now, so I’m jealous
Good morning! thank you everyone for a warm welcome back yesterday, it was so nice to see all your familiar names <3
Today I am in fabulous Coromandel. The amber-patchouli base in Le Lion yesterday reminded me of it, and it is as beautiful as ever.
I've heard rumors that the Les Exclusifs extraits (!) may be going away… No proof of this yet, but I did want the Bois des Iles extrait at some point, so I am thinking hard!
You smell great, I heard that news too, it’s too bad if they discontinue the extraits.
I also heard some rumours that there will be body oils of some of the exclusives.
Coromandel body oil sounds amazing to me.
I love body oils! The No 5 body oil has been tempting me, I am held back by the handful of body oils that still live on my shelf…
Welcome back pfsh! That rumor about the extraits is concerning but of course I thought there were 2 sizes, excluding the huge ones that cost $$$$$.
I’ve only ever seen the 15ml for sale in the US. I’m just hoping they’ll bring it back in a different size/bottle!
Lillyjo posted about it yesterday evening, BdI extrait is beautiful indeed, I own a vintage version.
Vintage BdI! How lucky!
Hope you do get a bottle too🍀
Better safe than sorry re: Bois des Iles extrait. I did hear something about price increases coming for all the Chanel perfumes in the near future, too.
They don’t have any trouble raising them. I know when I purchased a few of the Exclusifs back in the day, they were much more reasonably priced.
And that little 1/2 oz of BDI extrait is already $305. Before tax. I just can’t do it. Can’t believe their prices are going up again.
It was just $280 not too long ago too! I got myself Cuir de Russie as a birthday treat this time last year and was surprised to see the large hike.
Uh oh. This might convince me to break my No Buy. I want the Bois des Iles extrait also.
It is lovely! I might wait for a special occasion — doubt that it’ll fly off the shelves just yet.
I’ve been circling BdI for a long time…sigh.
Same… I like it but not $300 like it, ya know?
It’s cooling down here in Sydney. Tonight was quite chilly walking the dogs.
I’m ready for bed and just doused myself in Voleur de Roses by L’Artisan Parfumeur. That should drift me off to dreamland.
I love that fragrance, Portia-you smell great! I’m in Fleurs de Citronnier cause it’s the start of spring here, in spite of the snow yesterday.
OOOOHHHH! The Serge Lutens? Gorgeous.
I hope you get more springlike conditions in the near future Carole. XX
Voleur de Roses is one perfume I wish I would have known about when L’Artisan had 50mL bottles. It’s a fantastic rose & patchouli perfume.
Heya Jalapeno,
It’s always so nice to see your name pop up.
Did L’AP drop the 50ml? How annoying.
I haven’t seen 50mL bottles for sale here in the States since the last change in bottle style. It’s all 100mL.
therabbitsflower wearing Olympic Orchids reminded me about one of my favorites from the line, Carosello. It’s Moscato wine note feels springy to me.
Olympic Orchids is a great line.
I think she’s a very talented perfumer and interesting individual (studying bats, etc.)
It’s been a while since someone has mentioned Olympic Orchids.
I might have heard about it first from therabbitsflower and then got a few discounted bottles at my neighborhood perfume shop’s annual garage sale.
I have a pretty big sample collection from them, but rarely break them out. Will need to see if I have this.
I’ll be curious to see what you think. For some reason, Carosello reminds me of my grandma’s garden. She definitely wasn’t drinking wine so it must be some other notes(s).
Meant to comment on this yesterday. I wanted to say that Carosello is a great OO too, and you smelled great!
In continuing my last of the cold weather scents trend, I’m wearing Alexander McQueen’s Kingdom. This is such a unique scent (and it suits the brand better than what came later) but as pretty as the bottle is I’m always afraid I’ll break that little button.
My friend gave me a bottle of this, and I think it’s beautiful. Wish I could have afforded some of his clothes when he was alive-I loved his style. I love the bottle, too.
I think iris bloom a bit later here in Seattle, but I’m in VC&A Bois d’Iris. Today is cooler and cloudier and rain is back tomorrow. Feels appropriate to me as I have a colonoscopy tomorrow morning. Just a standard one, but UGH. I think I have been whining about it for a couple of weeks now. I am looking forward to Saturday morning when I’m doing a 5k fun run and then celebrating Norwegian Heritage Day here locally (Mr. SP is the Norwegian, I’m mostly a mutt ;D).
Good luck springpansy!
Thank you!
You smell lovely! I’m glad you’ll be done with the “ugh” tomorrow and have fun things to look forward to💃
Thanks, allo. I will be so glad tomorrow afternoon!
🍀Ah, not a favorite procedure but useful nonetheless.
Yes, for sure.
Sorry, but I had to chuckle at the colonoscopy rant. Been there. I still shudder thinking about the prep… 😭😱
Right? I start the prep in 1.5 hours and counting down…
I love your fragrance. I wear that one quite a bit and have had a compliment or two.
Yay for the Norwegians! I’m one too.
Good luck with the colonoscopy.
Thanks, Kris!
🇳🇴
🍀 Your procedure is as comfortable as possible with only good news as a result
I dread having to do this. I don’t think I can handle the prep drink.
The prep drink is the hardest part. But I’ve gotten through it before just fine.
The prep drink is a little gross. But what it does is deeply unpleasant!
The prep drink is a little gross. But what it does is deeply unpleasant!
Rainy and cool on the coast today. We are headed inland to get some necessary chores done. Yesterday was wonderful! Did a whole lot of beaching and took a delightful siesta. Kicked butt in Diablo because yes, I’m 13 years old.🙃 The beach is wide and mostly deserted. It has that desolate, end of the world vibe that I love so much. Saw some fishing trawlers out bobbing around like little corks. Sadly, many of the hills leading down to the sea have been clear cut. Now all you can see is the bleached stumps. It looks like a graveyard, which I guess is what it actually is. Incredible destruction of habitat, but I guess this is what they call “forest management.”
Doesn’t feel like spring at all and I’m fine with that since I one of the small crowd who prefers fall and winter. I’m wearing SmellBent Smoked Ambergris because it fits everything- mood, place, atmosphere, you name it, it just works. I’ve never camped here before and although I’ve been to many, many places along the coast of Oregon and Washington, this is the briniest smelling place yet. I was a little surprised, it’s not unpleasant though, just very briney. Makes me want to start wailing a sea shanty. 🙃
Your lips must taste salty! Enjoy!
Nice, Deva! You’re making me want to get out my Epices Marine.
Those clear cuts in the PNW are so freaking ugly. I. Can’t. Even.
I don’t feel ready for Spring, is it terrible that Spring just makes me think of the impending heat of Summer? But I’m trying my best just to notice and enjoy the lovely weather and the longer days. Also, we’ll get a bit of cooling and rain this weekend. My SOTD is helping with Spring optimism, La Pausa.
Hey almost twin! You and I and perhaps a few others “dread” spring because it means summer is just around the corner.
Not to mention all the spring allergies coming on!
I with you on this one. I look forward to fall and winter months.
I wouldn’t mind a month or two of “proper” Spring weather. But it seems that I have been jumping straight from Winter to Summer the last few years.
The stars are very bright this morning and the Southern Cross is right above my house. I still get a childish delight in finding due south from using the “ tail” star of the cross and a line between the two pointers, intersecting and dropping to the horizon. It’s really cool to find south using only stars, feels like a connection to ancient navigators. Wearing Moonlight Patchouli and back in bed
We used to do that to find North by way of the Big Dipper when I was a kid!
House twins and yes, love “navigating” via the stars. The only times I can really see them is when we are out camping.
SOTD = Chanel Les Exclusifs Bois des Iles EDT
Love it! 😍 Discontinued …

I tell myself that I need to learn something new everyday. New could be a word, a topic, a person and so on and so forth. Today, I am all about words that I have never seen before for the past few days. I probably could have worked out what these mean but it would have used up parts of my brain that I would rather devote to something else. Here’s my list:
– synecdoche
– bildungsroman
– chiasmus
– ensorcelling
– opprobrium
Now I need to go figure out the NYT gift article privilege so I can share articles more freely. ockeghem shared one yesterday!
Was it the one about Hilda Soliani? A friend shared in on Facebook and it was fascinating! Especially about that remarkable perfume-related dinner they went to. Wow.
I read that, so interesting!
Yes! I have yet to read it and I am looking forward to it.
Three of your words are familiar ones to me, thanks to table top RPGs and the original Star Wars movie trilogy.
👍
I have always loved the word “ensorcell” makes me think I’m a siren!!!
Ha! That’s great!
It’s at the top of the page, right under the headline & lede for the article. Click “Share full article” and then choose “Copy link”. I think you get 10 gift links per month.
Thanks. I found it earlier today. I had dinner with my sister and BIL on Saturday. She was unreasonably nervous about it so when I saw the article today, I decided to send it to her as a gift article.
I know I’ve seen bildungsroman
and ensorcelling before, and looked them up, only to immediately forget them. Opprobrium I understand but would never think to use. The other two are completely new!
Yay! We all learn from each other!
I know 2 of them. Synecdoche I have looked up many times and I just looked it up again, but I never remember what it means, so it must not be useful for me personally 🙂
I have never heard chiasmus or ensorcelling! And given my advanced age I suspect they aren’t useful to me either but I did look up ensorcelling and surprised I haven’t heard it, you’d think someone would have used it in a perfume description by now.

How I do it, taught to me by my dad.
Thank you! The whole site looks like fun!
Prada Infusion d’Iris again today — because it’s still out on my dresser and because I was going to be around people all morning, and no one had ever complained about that one when I’ve worn it.
Left the house just after 9 a.m., was struck by how warm it was, and now…it’s snowing. We got one good, fluffy, wet inch, then the sun came out and melted some of it, and now it’s cloudy with light but steady flurries.
Are you in Colorado by any chance? Because that sure sounds like the weather out here…
Hah, no, Western NY. Where the sun came out, the snow melted, and now it is snowing again.
Guerlain Ensense Mythique. Still have about half of original bottle.
Getting a new garage door installed today!
You smell wonderful!
thank you!!
I’m taking full CP credit with YSL Paris, which is full of flowers including nice spring ones like hyacinth and mimosa.
Spent much of yesterday helping out my brother and sister-in-law who flew down from Michigan. My brother is very ill now and we took him straight to MD Anderson where they admitted him. She says he is much better today after lots of treatments and has also had many tests and they’re waiting to see doctors. But he ate a huge breakfast and that’s a big thing since he’s hardly been eating anything for weeks now. Chemotherapy has just ravaged him.
Please please don’t let your loved ones smoke. I tried but I did not try hard enough. No one should have to go through this. I admit it is oddly comforting to sit around in an emergency room filled with other people bringing in their cancer patient loved ones. Some of us were chatting quietly–there were people there from California to Florida. I am very very impressed by the quality of attention and the efficiency of all the staff there.
Chemotherapy must be so gruelling, you sound like a very good sister.
Cancer is a scourge. I’m so sorry for his illness, and hope you find a few moments of mental peace. You can meet some interesting people in hospitals, for sure. Take care.
I am so sorry you and your family are facing this.
I’m so sorry Calypso, so tough for everyone.
I’m so sorry to hear this. Sending a big hug to you and your family.
Aw. So sorry to hear about your brother’s current situation. Cancer sucks. Hugs.
I am so sorry, Calypso. Sending comforting hugs.
Sending hugs to you Calypso.
Love and healing energy to you and your family…have had a lot of cancer through my extended family. Most of it dealt with very successfully, but that chemo is rough on everybody. I agree with not smoking, but I have also lost a dear friend to lung cancer who never once lit a cigarette in her entire life….sometimes there is no understanding the why of it.
I’m very sorry Calypso.
I’m so glad he was able to eat, though. Chemo sucks, as I know all too well from watching those close to me go through multiple rounds.
So sorry about your brother. My friend who has pancreatic cancer is staying out in Florida, not the best place for cancer treatment. Another friend will recommend MD Anderson.
Glad your brother is doing better. MD Anderson is the Cadillac!
Glad your brother is getting good care. Sending you big, lemony hugs (wearing Bake right now from a generous NSTer 😉 ) and strength! ♥️
Although it feels like autumn here, I’m not ready to give up on summer. I’m wearing another perfume that’s perfect any time, Hiram Green’s Shangri-la.
Shangri-la is so beautiful.
I’m wearing Lilacs and Heliotrope by Soivohle today for a sample thunk of a sample I’ve had a long time. It’s very nice and has tons of heliotrope. The lilac is mostly in the top notes. A very nice perfume for a cool, cloudy early spring day.
So glad I have a small bottle of Lilacs and Heliotrope. It’s beautiful.
I’m so glad you have a bottle too. It’s definitely a good one.
Hopefully Soivohle is back up again sometime soon.
I’m wearing another spring favourite: La haie fleurie (du Hameau) by Jean Claude Ellena for L ‘Artisan Parfumeur. It’s a very natural smelling jasmine with a really nice jonquille note. It was Parfumérie Céleste’s last bottle that I bought unsniffed.
Glad that today’s work is done.
Before I knew what I was doing, I somehow lost my bottle of La Haie Fleurie in a move (did it break? did it get tossed?)….I mourn it to this day!!
It is a lovely jasmine scent – you smell great!
Apple, pear, spina’s and yogurt smoothie, an alarming green but very good.
It’s already been mild these past few weeks but today was also sunny and 17C, tomorrow I will go to the park if it remains sunny.
Spent the day in Egoiste, I get a lot of gingerbread, I’m very fond of my vintage bottle which didn’t cost me anything as it ended up taking four months to arrive so I had been refunded. Tonight it’s VW Boudoir with its beautiful sillage, in another instalment of ‘goodness, the price’ series, Boudoir which is discontinued goes for a lot of money, even partial bottles at auction. I think there was only a small stock available, so it became expensive very quickly.
*spinash
Ooooooooooh. Vintage Egoiste! 🤩
Definitely one of my favorite masculines.
I just looked up Boudoir. $100.00 for 5ml. Lol!
🤷 It’s insane isn’t it, it’s a wonderful perfume, still detectable on my wrist since applying this morning, and very original but no perfume should cost that much.
Feeling springy in No 5 L’Eau. Yesterday was Bottega Veneta Knot, which I need to add to the collection once samples run out. Listening to the sounds of construction vehicles behind my house. Unfortunately, the 10-acre strip of land between us and the next neighborhood got sold to a developer. It was bound to happen at some point. Just hoping it doesn’t spoil the sense of solitude I’ve always felt on our back patio.
Both those perfumes are quite lovely!
Too bad about the new development going in behind you. Ugh.
I love both of those fragrances!
Yikes about the new neighborhood. Aren’t there laws regarding erecting a sound barrier?
I am clueless on this. It’s a relatively small development and the houses will be between us and the new road, so we’ll see.
I’m in Gucci Guilty Absolute today. It’s cool and overcast here, and I wanted to give this one some skin time before I pack up the cold weather perfumes!
Is that the men’s or women’s Absolute? Either way, they both smell good.
It’s the men’s. Smells like liquor and the best dang bandaids you’ve ever put your nose on.
Jumping ahead to summer in my SOTD but really I’m in fantasy perfume land today with Cognoscenti Tomato Leather from a sample provided by a generous NST’er. A biker who just left a smoky bar to visit a church in the middle of a linden forest parks his hog at home, hops off and stops in his garden to pick slugs off his tomato plants as the leaves brush against his jacket. There you go.
Great fragrance and great description.
I think I have a bottle of this but will have to unearth it.
LOL! Excellent.
Love this description! Smelled this years ago, though don’t have a sample, and remember it being a curious oddity
Another day, another enabler pin for Robin! Today’s pin is for the Josie Maran Vanilla Vibezzz Body Butter. I picked up a travel size from Sephora. It smells like vanilla ice cream, but that doesn’t last long. The texture of the body butter is quite nice and hydrating.
SOTD = commando, but wearing the new (to me) Josie Maran Body Butter. I also picked up travel sizes of the unscented, fig, and mandarin versions.
You’re becoming the queen of body creams, glad to see you are making some fragrant purchases again, it’s a good sign you are settling in, do you still have to buy items for your new home?
I’ve learned to stock up on body products I like when I see them, since some of my favorites have been discontinued in the past.
I do have some more things to get for the apartment. Figuring out where to put everything is proving to be a bit of a challenge. Super-sized Tetris.
I like her products. I’m going to check out that new vanilla next time I am at Sephora.
I’m always up for finding a good unscented body butter or lotion that I can mix my heavily scented things with. They are kinda pricey, though.
Like lillyjo, I do need to check out the body butters. My skin loves the unscented ones best although not all unscented are good.
I’ve only tried the vanilla one so far. Hopefully they all have the same consistency. 🤞
Oh fun, but drag it doesn’t last. Do please report back on mandarin and fig!
Will do!
Going to see the grandkids. Long drive, but hubby hates flying. Since I am only bringing mainstream perfumes-Daisy, Happy and Gucci Bloom, I am not going to post anything for the next week and a half. (I will look in though.) We hope to be back home on Easter. Hope everyone has a blessed holiday if celebrating.
Have a wonderful trip!
Thank you springpansy.
Have a safe and fun trip!
Thanks lillyjo. We have plans to go to the zoo and a movie for sure.
Safe travels.
Thanks Aurora.
Have a great trip, Kris! Sometimes it’s fun to wear our mainstream scents. I find it can reset my nose and I can even pick up nuances I’ve never noticed before.
Never thought of it that way. Thanks.
Have a great trip!
Thank you and I will try to do your number of sprays when possible😂
Safe travels, and enjoy the family time!
Have a wonderful and safe trip! Happy early Easer! 🥚🐇 I am wearing the almost end of the Bake sample right now…🍋 thank you again! ♥️
Easter rather! 🌼
I finally felt well enough to return to work today. It’s going to be snowing off and on all week. My sotd was JD Vanilla Farfelue. It really reminds me of White Linen with a splash of Vanilla.
That is a good description of that scent.
Thanks for confirming. I’m always doubting my nose.
Yay for feeling 100%. Your perfume sounds pretty, Jeffrey Dame is not distributed in Europe.
Glad you’re feeling better! Your fragrance sounds lovely. I have to get myself a small bottle of White Linen since I can’t get Dame frags here either.
Glad you’re feeling better and well enough to go to work.
Happy to hear that you are feeling much better today!
Late post! I’ve been commando for the last week or so. There’s been a lot of work stress mixed with overly-scheduled free time.
Tonight is vintage Fleurs de Rocaille. Bottle is easily older than I am (I’m 48). I’ve decided it’s a bit too lush for “spring” CP points. But it’s lovely! I rarely wear it (rarely wear full-on florals at all).
