Happy Hump Day! It's also National Chocolate Souffle Day. Birthdays: Linus Pauling, Frank Gehry and Bernadette Peters. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Thierry Mugler Cologne.
Reminder: On 3/1, Rabbit rabbit rabbit! It's March. Wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, happiness or good luck for the month.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

SOTD is Borneo, which has a chocolate note, plus I’m eating a piece of chocolate-at 11 am. I need my head examined. Actually think I need to add more protein to my diet. Happy Wednesday, everyone 🙂
Maybe add an egg on the side?
I love chocolate in the morning-usually in croissant form, Nutella or hot chocolate
so you’re telling me I need an Easter Cream Egg???? lol
You read my mind! 🙂
My better half makes homemade muesli and he adds semi sweet chocolate chips. So chocolate in the morning is ok in my book-no head examination needed
Hello.
Sotd is Tobacco Honey. Simple and beautiful.
I have been eyeing JM’s new Ginger Beer. I wonder how similar/different it is to Ginger Biscuit. I am not even sure if it will be in my local JM! The picture of the bottle alone is already very tempting.
I like Tobacco Honey too, it lasts on my skin forever
I am curious about the Ginger Beer vs. Ginger Biscuit too. My local JM didn’t have it as of this past weekend. They did have the Blossom Collection behind the counter and let me try them when I asked, but they were not out on display yet.
Did you like any of the Blossom Collection?
I tried the Yellow Hibiscus. It was nice, but not particularly memorable.
Money saved, then!
Chanel Gardenia
This is nice but completely predictable fragrance
I had a chance to buy the parfum years ago, but couldn’t test it first. Wish I could have afforded it-I bet you smell great 🙂
I hear you on that. Chanel has raised their prices again. It’s at least $10 for the non exclusive stuff and at least $50 for the exclusive line.
Whaaat!!!!
Chanel has always jacked thier priced up for the Exclusifs line a fair bit. Just remembering 10 years ago a 6.8 ounce bottle ran about $200. Think Chanel has gotten greedy.
Yikes!
Wow! They seem to be raising the prices at a rapid rate. Probably one of the reasons I keep my 31 RC hidden away and just bring it out occasionally. I don’t want to run out nor do I want to purchase it again if the prices keep skyrocketing.
ACK! Guess I’d better get something sooner rather than later if I can afford it.
I’m wearing Acqua di Scandola, from a new decant that I received yesterday. Nice! Spring has arrived in East Texas, according to the blooming fruit trees, bluebonnets, and wisteria.
This makes me miss TX, love the bluebonnets.
They are just beginning to bloom in my part of Texas, but soon we should have huge meadows of bluebonnets.
Wow, wisteria in February!
Currently in Lyric today and going to Costco today. There is some stuff that we need badly.
Hope the trip to Costco went well 🙂
It’s an early morning for me. We’re flying to Sydney on a 6.30am flight, we had to get up at 2.30am! We’re now in the departure lounge and it’s 5am.
There is nothing of interest perfume-wise at the Wellington duty free, but I am wearing Diorling. It’s a great fragrance for every occasion.
Have a great trip!
Happy sails! The mornings are so dark now, especially when you are up half the night.
Nothing of interest at Duty Free.
Such sad words indeed.
I mean, not even gigantic bars of chocolate…? (that said, the only perfume luck I’ve had at duty free was at Heathrow)
Safe travels, Diorling is so good.
Have a fun time in Sydney/Oz! I”m pretty sure you’ll find more on offer in their Duty Free!
Gosh, that would mean basically no sleep for me. Hope you get a good nap on the plane!
Safe travels!
Grey and windy today, roughly a 30-degree temperature drop from yesterday, but now we are seasonal. I’m throwing on a hoodie sweatshirt and will keep smiling. Thinking Spring with Champs Elyees epd and edt. I’ve not tried the Heritage version. I like the vintage edt best, then the edp, then the newer shoulder bottle edt. Still wonder what they were thinking with that plastic collar – perhaps there was a quality control issue with that bottle shape? Happy Wednesday, all!
Have a happy day!
Going to google that bottle..
I’m in MCMC Noble today, going for a comfort scent after the Rien debacle yesterday. I knew it was bad when at dinner I mentioned that trying it had been a mistake and Mr. Ockeghem said, “So that was the really strong scent I noticed when you went out this afternoon.” This is not good because a) Mr. Ockeghem pretty much never notices / comments on scent and b) he was sitting all the way across the living room as I went out the door in the entryway.
At least on my skin Noble *has* incense, and no plastic! I need the comfort today, anyway, on a cold, rainy day. Yesterday’s “snow” (which came down but didn’t stick) is gone, at least.
Always listen to Mr. O 😉
Wow…but it was sweet of him not to have said anything at the time!
Glad your perfume today is much better than yesterday’s epic-level Yeargh!
I wasn’t sure what to wear but with Gaynor flying across to Sydney I thought of Goldfield and Banks Silky Woods, as Botany Bay is where Sydney airport is ( named by Joseph Banks on Cook’s voyage). Cold and dark here, sunrise is after 7 am now, and summer is over.
sorry your summer is over!
I am sorry about your Summer. I hope you have a perfect Autumn.
Sunrise after 7:00? Oof, that hurts. Since we just passed that, I feel your pain.
Apologies but we need our turn with summer 🙂
Narciso Rodriguez White Cube, shower gel and lotion. When I get home from the doctor, I’ll add the perfume.
Record high yesterday of 72F, reality check of 24F and lake effect snow right now (it was 44F when I got up, so the temp is still falling), all with strong, gusty wind, brrr.
You are getting it a day after us. We did the same thing yesterday.
Same weather here yesterday and today. There was a tornado south of me last night!
I wore White Cube on Monday.
Tornadoes in February, isn’t that crazy? Stays warm lillyjo! How’s your dog doing?
Stay safe and warm!
Raining. Again. Still. Various intensities, from pounding down to a steady sprinkle, to intermittent and sporadic. Usually when it slows and I get a coat on to step outside, put one foot out the door, it then starts bucketing down again and back in we go. Ugh. It could be snow or ice, so there’s that…🫤
I do have to journey into the Heart of Darkness today (ie: Seattle proper) to drop my camper off at the dealer so I can then take my truck to the truck dealership in the morning to get some work done. Both of these locations are in seedy areas of town. I’ll be hoteling it tonight. I prefer not to go, but things must get done. My tag has not shown up yet, and even though I have proof of current, up-to-date registration, I prefer not to get pulled over by the Popo if I can help it. The lady as the post office loudly scolded me in front of the long, long, long line of people yesterday when I went to check to see if the tag arrived. “ONE MONTH! ONE MONTH ONLY!” with a wagging finger and a constipated expression. Yikes…
Currently wearing JM Ginger Biscuit because it’s simple, easy, and uncomplicated.
I hope it shows up! “Popo” reminds me of my nephew when he had trouble with the letter “L” — he used to say Pokey.
The “pokey” is where I don’t want to end up! 😆 Best wishes to the nephew and hope he’s able to pronounce “L” now so he doesn’t get picked on…or maybe he’s a full grown adult at this point…
😆 Haven’t heard that word in a long time!
I am happy to note that he had been assigned a submarine in the Northeast!
I will credit yours truly for helping the nephew learn how to pronounce the letter “L”. I swear he must have thought that his auntie was crazy for making him sit in front of her and with her going “la la la” over and over again, but hey, it worked!
Oh gosh. Stay safe!
If your tags are now expired, did I miss a birthday?
Thanks, it’s still raining but I was worried about the dreaded frozen mix. The day of my arrival into this mixed-up, tragic, and lovely world is right around the corner. One year closer to 1/2 price camping!! I have modest goals. 😉
Good I didn’t miss it!
I hope the tags get there soon and a big raspberry to the post office lady!
Yuck. Wishing for a break in the weather for you, and your tags to show up.
My mom is gone seven years today.
The week she died I was wearing a lot of Box of Eels and on my flight home after her funeral and tidying up her things I bought the EDP on the plane. (excellent WIFI, I guess)
So I will wear the EDP for her (and me) post shower today.
My edt is at the bottom of the bottle, but I won’t pay the newer cost that Chanel is asking. Will wait for a trip or for a friend to come home duty free.
These anniversaries are never easy, are they, Apsara? I’m sorry for your loss. You’ve chosen a beautiful fragrance. I hope it brings you some peace of mind.
Thank you. They are bitter and sweet.
She was tired and ready to go.
Thinking of you today. What a beautiful perfume to mark the day and keep her close
Thank you Kanuka.
Thinking of you.
Thank you, hajusuuri.
Thinking of you today.
Thank you, Kris.
Light a candle, wear your box of eels, reminisce, look through photos, cry, laugh…I try to remember my parents in the best way possible at these times. I always wonder if the life they led was the life they actually wanted…
I do, Deva. I would not have wished either parent one day more.
I have their pictures right here at my desk, both from the 1940’s when they were young and beautiful and part of the greatest generation.
Nice! Those older photos are wonderful! I have a couple hanging in my camper and I love looking at them. The expressions, the clothing details, the hair styles..!
Hugs apsara 💙
Thanks, lillyjo.
Sending another hug.
Thanks MossyBerry.
Hope the memories (and the perfume) comfort you today.
Fragrance hugs, apsara.
Sending another hug to you.
Sending more hugs for you, apsara. I hope you have a peaceful remembrance.
Sending hugs. May her memory be a blessing.
Sending yet more hugs, and the hope that Box of Eels triggers comforting memories
Hugs apsara.
I am wearing vintage l’Heure Bleue edc. This vintage edc is very long lasting on me.
We had a very mild two days , it seems that will change tonight!
i booked my flight to Paris , very excited about that !! I am going with three friends and one of them has started to love perfumes, so lots of sniffing ahead!!
Very exciting about your trip – did you already say which “treasure caves” you plan to visit?
Definitely Bien-Aime, Houbigant, Guerlain, Goutal.
I will try to go to Osmotheque.
I’m hoping to go to the Osmotheque one day! Houbigant sounds like an excellent choice, and it’s not one I’d have thought of.
How exciting! How soon are you going?
I will be going end of May.
That’s a wonderful trip to look forward to.
Is it just me or have we not seen Glannys lately?
One more cold day here before we warm up again. Eighteen degrees as I write this. Brrrrrrrrrrrr. So will keep warm in a happy scent of Coco Noir body cream and perfume.
Not just you. I hope she’s all right. Yep, 18F is BRRrrr! 🥶
I hope she is too.
Yikes! That is frozen!
Not since 2/10. Hope she will check in soon.
22 degrees here and snowing.
The weather lady said something I have never heard in February. She said ” I think it’s possible this could be the last snow of the season” I am used to seeing snow through April. Time will tell.
My sotd is Shalimar Souffle Intense. I don’t wear it much, but enjoy it when I do.
Keep warm, hope the weather lady is right. I forget to wear SI too, I like it but always end up in the regular Souffle mostly because I have the big bottle of that one and only 50ml of SI.
Ha! It snows until May in Quebec.
You have been experiencing weird weather! Not weird from a it’s still snowing standpoint but the extremes!
Wow. That’s some really volatile weather you’ve been having as of late.
Apple, pear, mango and yogurt smoothie
Today Ivoire 2nd version which does smell like a sweet comforting American soap, Caress precisely for me while people on Fragrantica say Dove, the pink one I suppose. Tonight it’s Miller Harris La Fumée Maroc, there have been many flankers but this is the only one which doesn’t have the cumin of the original. Maroc smells of stone fruit and incense and saffron to me.
Your smoothie almost sounds like a fruit cocktail version tonight. 🍐🍑🍒🍇🍏🥭
Love the collection of emojis, it was tasty.
I do remember the smell of Caresse!
It was a wonderful soap, and thanks to you I’ll remember it was the French spelling. That Ivoire is really good.
I’m still wafting in a bit of Knowing; I sprayed lightly at bedtime yesterday. I think it’s even getting better as it ages a bit. This was one scent I had to run back and buy right away. Have we ever done a project of “instant loves”?
You smell wonderful. Did you try the new one?
And we should do instant loves !!
Thank you, Hera! No, I haven’t tried the new EL offerings but all the discussion here has inspired me.
Lovely theme, done before or no
The EL Legacy sample set is well worth the $$$$$$$. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
I’ve searched for it but it doesn’t seem to be available in Canada so I’m not sure if it’s sold out or if it was never available here.
Aw, that’s a shame.
Is the Legacy Collection going to be sold in Canada at all?
I thought we did love at first sight, but we can do it again!
I am in a perfume slump. Help! I can’t find anything I want to wear. Maybe it’s mood in general or some weirdness in the weather or my aching jaw after dental work Monday but I didn’t wear any last week either. ??? Help!!!
On a positive note, Trader Joe’s chicken pot pie is fantastic! If you cook it in the oven, not the microwave, the pastry on top gets delightfully crisp and flakey. It’s also very big and will last two or three meals, easily.
Have never tried, but think you own, McQueen Parfum? My .02 cents!
I’m sure pain doesn’t help wit enjoying perfume, especially facial pain and nerve pain after having a dentist yanking around your teeth. My only suggestion would be to dial it back to the most simple, single note perfume you own, probably floral…something that is simple and just ‘ pretty’ but not complex, or heavy. One of the Hermes Garden series, or maybe an iris or honeysuckle, or lily or violet …like a spring flower (not a rose). Hope you feel better soon.
Your love of TJ’s Pot Pies is equal to my love of Costco’s frozen cheese and spinach ravioli. A bag lasts me 5-6 dinners and the taste is fantabulous! It comes with a Parmesan and herb packet to mix with olive oil and toss the ravioli in. Best pasta I ever had. I remember pot pies with great fondness since we ate them occasionally when I was a kid.
I wish I had known about those Costco ravioli when I went there on Monday!
Perfume slump – you don’t say?!? How about wearing categories of perfumes? Decants, bottle color, primary perfume note, line, where acquired, samples, etc.
I am due for a TJ’s run at some point soon and will look for the pot pies. I will use my air-fryer on Baking mode (not sure if I have ever done that).
Just had the pot pie for dinner tonight!!! Delightful, and followed by a square of the vanilla buttercream cake which is heaven on a plate. Yes, I did go to Trader Joe’s today!!!
Maybe a tried and true comfort scent? Or scented lotion?
Nothing wrong with taking a break, IMO, and it beats trying to force the issue, at least for me. You can check in every day anyway to tell us how you’re doing 🙂
Today it’s vintage Empreinte for me, which I love.
Starting yesterday, I decided to play the CP with frags that I have received as gifts. This was given to me a long time ago, but it’s still fresh and wonderful.
Using a gift always makes me feel lucky and happy.
I love vintage Empreinte and you smell lovely in it🌸
Thanks, allo! It’s rare to find someone who knows this one. 🤗
Wearing my scent of the week, Ambre Tibet. Took my dad and one of the other residents on a round of errands this morning. It’s tough having limited mobility and mental acuity. I’m hoping for a speedy early death for myself. Would rather go out with my boots on.
I totally with you re: the death wish. I have ALS in my family (an uncle and a cousin) and I have seen it when I worked for hospice and no, no, no…I will NOT be doing that.
Oy, this sounds very doomish! I hope your dad is doing ok despite the mobility issues and diminished mental acuity.
Just curious – did the other resident have to sign some kind of waiver?
My dad has the mobility issues, the other resident has both mobility and dementia issues. They did not ask for a waiver, she was not allowed to leave the facility alone but I was allowed to take her out under my supervision. It was quite an adventure to get her banking done due to her cognitive issues – they asked her security questions she couldn’t answer, like her son’s birth date and telephone number.
So would I!
I’m currently witnessing the slow but sure decline of my parents, who are both in total denial of that fact, and refuse any help that they so desperately need.
That’s hard. At least my parents realized when they needed help and took care of it themselves. I feel very lucky in that respect.
So sorry to hear this. That’s an incredibly difficult situation to be in.
Wearing White Linen, one of my most comforting scents. Tired after a long day of work.
Hope you get a good night’s sleep and an easier day tomorrow austenfan 🙂
Wearing a sample of Jorum’s Pedimento on eone wrist and Feve Gourmande on the other. I don’t think any of us would confuse one for the other, but they do have a similar gourmond vibe. FG is sweeter, with what reads to me as a honey note, whereas Pedmiento is drier with a prominant hazelnut note on top of tropical florals. Both are beautiful.
Tea today is a new-to-me chocolate strawberry black tea. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the stawberry in there, but the that bit of tartness gives the tea a pleasant lift that makes it moreish.
It’s a sad thing to say that as soon as I saw the word “Pedimento” my brain said, simultaneously, Pimento and Pedophile. Yikes. I do love hazelnut, though…
Same thing happens to me when I see Pedialyte. I blame all of the “to catch a predator” crap on Instagram. (And I suppose also the excessive amount of time I spend on Instagram…)
Hazelnut notes seem to be having a moment in perfumery right now.
SOTD = Roja Dove Enslaved
Oy! I haven’t worn this in ages even though it is front and center whenever I walk into a to be cleaned room. Anyway, this is an excellent choice for today’s nothing to write home about yucky weather. This goes to the why don’t I wear this more often category!
https://www.instagram.com/p/C36CZ_wRjKt/?igsh=eHB5eXQ0dnplazlm
In other news, I managed to fill 3 bags of clothes, 1 bag of miscellaneous items and 2 K-cup boxes of mugs (6 to a box). Could I have done more? For sure! I was just happy to do it. I will schedule another pick up in about 2 weeks but I need to sort out at least 2 bags worth of clothes and 1 box of kitchen items before I do that. Please continue to wish me luck!
You smell great, I need to wear that too. Good job on the clean out! I plan to do more when I get home as well. I have a kayak, some purses and shoes that need to go.
I have many purses and shoes also, among other things 😂
When you get to the “I’m sick of these perfumes” box just send them my way😉
Hey, you never know!
All those Chanel Exclusifs would be appreciated😉
Great progress, I’d say! Keep it up!
I am slowly going thru boxes and sorting things for donation, too.
I’m giving Philtre a full wearing today. The opening is a bit much for my sensitive nose with its intense clove note, but once I put long sleeves on my arms and wait a bit for it to mellow, it’s so good. I’m still on the fence about whether it’s full bottle worthy, but it is a very nice perfume. If something splits it at the next split meet, I’m sure I’ll buy a decant.
Thanks for sharing your experience with HG Philtre. I have trouble with clove notes, too.
I’ve been craving carnation notes so Philtre has my attention and I would definitely be in on a split.
Acqua di Parma Bergamotto
Another late day posting.
I had hoped that I would have a nicely productive day today. Not quite. I noticed the smell of coolant when I first started my car. After some driving, I noticed that the radiator leak had gotten bigger. I was able to get a few things done, and get home safely. What a pain.
SOTD = back in Azuree Legacy EdP.
I’m sorry about your car pains😔
Not the first time I have dealt with radiator issues. This time I have a much better mechanic helping me, though.
Could be much worse. At least it’s not the transmission!
Argh, yes, anything but the transmission.
I hope you can get your car fixed Jalapeno. Cars are such a stressor.
Just waiting for a replacement radiator. Glad I spotted something weird when I did and mentioned it to my brother. It’s nice having someone with 20+ years as a mechanic to talk to.
Yes, that really helps having your brother so close.
Glad the radiator held on for your errands at least.
Also late posting having worn a Tauer this morning. I was racing out of the house so I couldn’t read the bottle…maybe Coeur…whatever it was it made me happy on this very wet and cold day.
Which ever Tauer you picked, you are smelling wonderful!
