It's Tuesday and National Apricot Day. Birthdays: Carrie Chapman Catt, Simone de Beauvoir, Joan Baez. What fragrance are you wearing?
I’m wearing Ormonde Jayne Osmanthus. Tea at the moment is a very strong cup of Harney CTC Assam.
Reminder: 1/12 is National Marzipan Day. Wear a fragrance with honey, almond or both.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Wedgwood Fortune teapot ("...adorned with an elegant crane motif, a symbol of happiness, peace, longevity and fortune, along with delicate floral designs. This delightfully colourful piece is finished with gleaming gold details and is just the right size for tea for two") is $150 at Wedgwood USA.
Hello.
Sotd is YSL Libre Le Parfum.
Tried Lush Candy Rain conditioner today (thank goodness for samples). The moisturizing power is really just okay but boy, the smell is sooo good. I think I am going to buy a tub, even if I have to mix it with a better conditioner.
Le Parfum is really nice. I keep almost buying the travel spray.
Oh, I should try that Lush!
Bois Cherie vanilla tea
Back at NYPL today. My first day back after weeks..
Hope it’s a great first day back!
Me too! I had to review my notes
Library smell goes nicely with marzipan, I think! Have a good day back😸
I think so too!
Enjoy your first day back!
Have a great day, LTSG!
Honey/almond day two, in Demeter Honey, a stripped-down and very appealing version of SL Miel de Bois (which will be showing up later in the week), less floral and woody and not nearly as aggressive, just sweet, sharpish honey with a dusting of baby powder. It’s honey powder is what it is.
I really like Demeter Honey. You smell wonderful!
Yucky weather made better with Cartier Le Baiser Du Dragon for cp points.
Yucky weather twins!
Le Baiser du Dragon is delightful and makes a lot of things better. It’s on my list of things to wear this week, and I expect it will do for tomorrow, when we’re getting our own yucky weather — up to a foot of snow, then rain, rain, rain.
I’m wearing the last of a sample of Route du Vetiver.
Been years since I smelled it, but it used to be a really great scent.
Sl Sa majeste la rose – no honey detected by my nose, but apparently it is there. Anyway, I love smelling like roses when it is freezing outside, and this rose is indeed majestic.
Our dual-fuel stove (cooker) was finally installed today. To cut the long story short, the company that was supposed to do it on Friday really let us down, so we had to use the microwave for cooking 4 days in a row. 😠 Today, somebody else installed it for us. We did not have a chance to try the oven yet, but the gas top works fine. Yay!
YAY for your stove.
If I had to use my microwave the kids would just be eating popcorn lol
That gave a *snort* thanks! I think Mr. SmokeyToes would happily exist on popcorn and hot dogs every day if he could.
I think we may be twins today — I had that one on my list, since it came up with honey, though I don’t smell it.
Happy to hear your stove arrived and is (finally!) connected!
Glad to hear that you can use your stove now!
SOTD so far is just a bit of Dr. Haushka hand cream, though I’m feeling like it’s a Rahat Loukoum day. But I just have to report that Biscuit saw me putting on my hand cream and asked what it was, and I told him and offered him my hand to sniff, and he said “Oh! Something that smells like bumblebees!”
That’s wonderful! (The bumblebees comment)
How sweet 😊
In Hiram Green Slowdive for the CP.
I’m feeling very sleepy today. I am blaming it to the weather. Having my third cup of coffee and a couple of sour watermelon flavored Peeps.
Happy Tuesday! ☕️
New Peeps!🤣 I see the Easter candy out but haven’t taken a good look yet.
Lol! I found them yesterday. I also grabbed a pack of the new Sparkly Wild Berry flavor. I am keeping an eye on the new Rice Krispies Treats and the Icee Blue Raspberry flavors that you mentioned the other day!
Can I just say that it is WAYYY too early for Easter candy, though I saw Easter cookie tins at the dollar store as I walked past yesterday. I can’t even think Valentine’s yet.
I thought I heard they were going to stop making PEEPS? I can’t remember the reason but remember seeing a blurb about it in the news last year…Looks like I’m wrong or they’ve been resurrected! Watermelon flavor is my favorite flavor for candy. Eat a PEEP for me, please!
Eating two watermelon Peeps in your name! 😀
I remember there was a controversy last year regarding the Red Dye 3 used in their pink and purple Peeps because studies showed it caused cancer in animals, and they should be discontinued. However, they are still being sold everywhere. I don’t know what happened at the end with all the fuss about that.
It looks like they took out Red Dye 3.
Or will soon be taking it out.
Good to know, thanks!! I think it only took M&M’s about 20 years to remove the red dye. Maybe they still haven’t …? I’m not up to all this candy intrigue!
Thanks for the info, Lillyjo!
The discontinued red M&M’s from 1976 to 1987 because of concerns over a specific red dye. Red M&M’s were reintroduced in 1987, and have been included in the mix ever since. The red dye used in M&M’s is red no. 40, which is approved for use in food by both the FDA and the EU.
… speculating that the reason for stopping the manufacture of Peeps is because they don’t dissolve in soda
I remember for awhile we couldn’t get red M&M’s.
They eventually came back but without the #3 dye.
I think another concern is the dye (some, not all) is made from crushed up bug shells? Scientists are trying to synthetically reproduce it. There was an interesting article from the Smithsonian mag from 2022 that explained it.
I never minded M & M’s or Peeps, but knowing the source of the dye kind of gave me the ‘icks’. 🙂
Ick for sure! Also, if you buy ground coffee, know that the FDA allows a “certain” percentage to be insects that were ground with the coffee. And “insects” are mostly cockroaches…🤢 And how they measure this “certain percentage” is anyone’s guess.
The info I found is that M&M’s never used the specific red dye in question, but the manufacturer was concerned that consumers would not know the difference and would avoid buying anything dyed red, regardless of which red dye it was. The red M&M’s were at that time replaced by orange. The red M&M’s were brought back in 1987 (after an 11 year absence), when the panic over red dye had calmed down (and the specific red dye of concern had been long removed from all food products), but retained the orange M&M’s. Also, there used to be tan M&M’s in the plain chocolate bags (not in the peanut variety), but these were replaced by blue in 1995.
Do you work for Mars/Wrigley? What a confusing red dye issue…🙄 I DO remember the tan M&M’s, too!
No, I don’t (and never did) work for M&M Mars. All I know about the dye is what I found online, but it is all plausible. If there is a lot of press coverage of red dye being bad for you, most people wouldn’t distinguish one dye from another or know the differences between them.
As for the rest, I’m old, so I do remember the red M&M’s being discontinued, then reintroduced, and there being tan plain M&M’s but no tan peanut M&M’s and that there used to be no orange or blue ones. I didn’t remember the exact dates–I had to look all that up–but the listed dates sound about right. I do recall being in grad school when the red M&M’s came back, so that would be in the late 1980’s.
I scrolled too fast, and read your comment without seeing your name in the header. I knew instantly, “hey, this is pl67’s comment!”.
Sure enough!
Smelling great, ladybug! 🤗
Lol!
Thank you, N!🌻
Oh, PL67…all I can say about sour watermelon Peeps is: that sounds so bad I want to try them, LOL!
I like the watermelon taste and it is not so sour. Overall, it is ok! 😀
I’m going to look for them – BTW, I am sure I’d like the Blue Raspberry!
Have some Blue Raspberry Peeps for me, please!
And stay safe & dry. I’ve been hearing a lot about your weather back there. It’s sounding NASTY.
Glad to see you back, Jalapeno!
Last night, the rain was pretty bad. Today, we are expecting temps in the mid 50’s with winds reaching 60 mph.
The weather here is absolutely insane.
Wearing Lou Lou today.
And smelling wonderful.
Getting some pollen-y almond blossoms in Champs Elysees edp. I really enjoy the whole CE line. It’s more wearable than my vintage loves but still has a lush heart.
Hey, we like what we like in perfume. And that’s OK!
The front finally went all the way through and it’s sunny and calm today! 🌞 We will be hitting the road this morning headed back towards Tucson for a mail call. Slept all night with the furnace on!! Never been able to do that without plugging in! 🥰
Because I saw it mentioned a couple of times yesterday, I decided to go with the OG Bottega Veneta, which I have to look up every single time because I can’t remember the correct spelling…😅
LOL. I always have to look up the spelling too. You smell wonderful!
When does the job start?
Oh, well that was one of those frustrations I talked about last week. The contract was cancelled at the 11th hour because the agency didn’t cross their T’s or dot their I’s. Starting 2024 with a bang! 😅
So…just as well that you didn’t deal with all those emails over the holidays!
Exactly! Lol!
I must have missed that. So, what is on the agenda now?
Now I’m looking for something else. Unfortunately, the standard 13 week contract will run past my departure date for France so I had to cancel my trip. 👎🏼
NOOOO! I hope you can get it back on the schedule soon.
Oh no Deva, that’s awful. I’m so sorry.
My phone had BV 2 different ways. I just one and hope it’s correct. Lol.
I think we just need to rename it OGBV and then everyone should know what we’re talking about. 😉
You had to cancel your trip!? Oh jeeze Louise, I am sorry. Stupid work!
( I am replying here since the correct spot ran out)
Yes, I was a bit ticked off because I had carefully planned out the dates/airport locations, etc, but what are ya gonna do? I’m still approaching 2024 like this:
https://www.instagram.com/tv/CpNVH7ODuNU/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Sorry to hear that you had to cancel your long-awaited trip to Paris. That sucks, big-time.
My grandmother’s pin in her leg shifted even more from 2 weeks ago. She is in the hospital and will probably have a revision tomorrow. It’s a cold, wet and just a generally miserable day weather wise. Spending the day in Kyoto.
Ugh, so sorry to hear about your grandma’s pin! I hope she does okay and it home soon!
Oh, dear, as someone who’s had to have multiple leg surgeries and revisions, I wish your grandmother the very best. It’s very discouraging to have to go through the same surgery all over again, and re-start your recovery.
Oh no.
Ouch. That sounds awful.
claiming points for wearing Cardin Choc, it has a honey note, not very obvious, but its there…. Thinking about wearing C&A First tomorrow, if i can find it
“If I can find it” is a daily thought here…
Sunny, cold and 10 inches of snow here today. Felt I needed to wear something cozy like so went with Coco Noir today.
I was glad to see Jalapeno made it to Colorado safely.
You smell wonderfully cozy!
Thank you😘
You smell wonderful, and I am so glad you had a report on Jalapeno! *waving to Jalapeno and Teflon*
Yay – I’m glad to hear about jalapeno, also.
I was glad to quit long distance driving once I got here! 😏
Looks like this will be a Serge week for me as I started making a list of honey fragrances. I’m starting with Fils de Joie because Mr. allo isn’t a fan of jasmine but he’s out of town so none the wiser😊
I am sure you smell fabulous.
SL twins, and I’m in jasmine as well. (Thanks to you!)
You smell lovely!
Last night I wore La Fille de Berlin, which has a honey note (that I didn’t really detect).
It’s apricot season here at the moment though the apricots available in the supermarket are nothing like the ones we used to pick from the trees. The supermarket versions are mostly unripe and lacking in flavour whereas the tree versions oozed when you bit into them. Wearing JM Honey and Crocus which has both almond and honey notes. Rubbish windy wet day here, in low cloud.
Yes, I grew up on an orchard and we had two apricot trees (just for us) among all the other more profitable trees (apples, pears, cherries), and how delicious and beautiful those apricots were. I often think how lucky I was: the fruit on the ground was often better than what is in the grocery stores. In the store’s defense, fruit is challenging – it often doesn’t transport well and doesn’t have the shelf life.
Ha and I just had a feeling of deja vu, so I’ve probably posted this same thing before. Apologies for being a broken record!
SOTD is Amouage Dia from a generous sample, thanks to the sales associate at Neiman’s! Visited my lovely dentist again yesterday to complete the fillings/crown repair, I stopped by the counters to spritz.
My last bottle of Dia, 15 years old is finally finished. I had NO idea Dia is now $500. 😯
I kind of needed to sit down for that one. Perfumes are getting a little rich for my blood!
Although if I found another bottle of Antonia’s Flowers Tiempe Passat, I have a kidney…. 🙂
You smell wonderful, ST, and agree about prices. It seems that they have particularly increase the last couple of years.
Prices are making it easier for me to meet my 2024 challenges!
No kidding!
That’s a ridiculous price. Pass!
I can’t believe I never bought Tiempe Passate.
It’s pouring rain here and the wind was so gusty it knocked over my almost empty firewood rack on the patio. I have to make a Costco run and I am hoping the weather will keep people home so that I can get in and out quickly. SOTD is vintage Bellodgia.
Weather twins. I have to run out too, hoping the river does not overflow…
All my carefully placed cloches on my iffy winter plants were blown off. Fortunately the cold doesn’t start again until tomorrow.
I’m continuing to be honey-adjacent with flowers, in the fabulous Divine from Divine.
I’ve also got garden insects covered. My dress today is a white cotton print, with little green grasshoppers 🙂
Oh your dress sounds wonderful! Great match with your scent.
Ah, the lovely Divine! I’m sure it goes great with that dress.
That sounds like a nice fragrance. I have not tried it.
SotD is Cierge de Lune.
Happy Tuesday Lucasai!
I’m in Bengale Rouge for the cp. Very comforting on this cold day.
TOTM was Piglet’s Big Adventure, a chocolatey, almondy black tea I found in a shop in Brenham, TX. ❤️
I love the name of your tea and it sounds delicious!
I love Bengale Rouge, I must wear it soon!
Oooh, I do love both the name and the sound of that tea.
I know someone who would love to get their hands on your Tea of the Day.
More renaming: By Kilian is reissuing “Boys”, from 2018, as “Born to be Unforgettable”
Confusing, but still better than Tom Ford!
SOTD is Diptyque Eau des Sens for a cold, snowy day spent at home.
You smell great NinaV.
I’m wearing SL A La Nuit as an antidote to a week of yucky weather – windy, rainy, cold and ice on the way this weekend, I think. Happy to be home and cozy for the moment.
More “New Year’s” work in my closet today. Trying to straighten up, pare down, clean up, curate, all those words, etc. It’s more difficult (for me) than it should be.
Smelling wonderful ❤️
Thank you and you, also!
SOTD = 4160 Tuesdays Wishful Thinking EDP
Love it although it reminds me of several perfumes smashed together. It has a vintage feel! 🥰

What’s with the “celebrity” endorsements? These are especially ripe (rank?) in social media and are likely the result of artificial intelligence. A lawyer friend of mine, whom I think never had a traumatic brain injury (TBI) diagnosis but sure acts like he had it as part of his cycling injuries from way back before COVID, got taken by an endorsement from Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood (I think) to get Le Creuset cookware just paying a $8 shipping and handling fee. Huh? These things usually go for hundreds and he thought that just because it was endorsed by celebrities he knows that the offer must be legit. Anyway, credit card companies are onto these scams but still! What if it was hundreds of $s? Of course I am not necessarily talking about this lawyer friend but he had also signed up for a wine club (he has 48 bottles now and kept forgetting to cancel), he lost his AirPods (found inside his car) and just on New Year’s Day, misplaced his house keys and ended up bowing out of brunch with friends.
hajusuuri, have you tried 4160 Tuesdays Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits? I’m very curious about that one. It sounds like something I would like based on Fragrantica reviews. I’d love to get others’ thoughts, too.
Oooh, I love it – tea, milk and vanilla with a little bit of citrus. It doesn’t last long and since the sillage is minimal, you would be okay with overspraying.
Sounds like something I would like. Thank you!
What happened with the $8.00 he sent? That’s one of those too good to be true scams.
The credit card companies were wise to it so one immediately rejected it (twice) and the other one took around 10 minutes to respond but never processed the payment.
There was an article in…I think…the NYT today about just this. (Could have been WaPo.) There are a bunch of AI Le Creuset ads using Taylor Swift and others. They take people’s $8 or $10 and never send anything, but sign them up for a bunch of other random charges.
That said, the ads they had in the article seemed pretty scammy. Not sure I’d have bitten apparently people do.
I saw the article on Taylor Swift in the NY Times. How this lawyer almost got scammed was beyond me … thinking it has to be the TBI.
I wonder if it was really endorsed by those two, or if their likenesses were used illegally? Is the scam that you’re signed up for some recurring “membership” fee or similar?
Probably used illegally would be my guess. Or was supposed to be a one-time charge but one never knows with a scammer!
Feeling a bit bummed about the weather forecast. Earlier today, they were actually predicting that we would get over an inch of snow next Monday. The last time we had any accumulation at all was in December 2017, and the last time we had any that stayed more than a couple of hours was Christmas 2004. Now, the forecast just shows it being really cold (possibly down to the low 20’s or high teens, which is really cold for us) for two nights, with rain and possibly some snow flurries mixed in. I’m not crazy about hard freezes, but if we are going to have one, I would like to at least get some snow out of it. The good new is that since I am retired, at least I don’t have to drive to work in all that mess.
I know a lot of people are overjoyed about the lack of snow this winter, but it’s quite an ominous omen to me. Here (meaning the southwest US) there are many places that have water either severely curtailed or completely cut off. These shortages will reach the general population eventually and then people will be praying for snow/rain/sleet.
I’m wearing Lolita Lempicka because I thought it had almond. Turns out it doesn’t. It’s a great scent though and sweet enough to keep me warm on a proper winter day. There was sunshine in Luxembourg today, wonderful feeling to get some light after all these dark and grey days.
You smell great!
Hi all, it’s been a weird start to the year as of yesterday. Yesterday morning my partner was laid off at his job. He had been expecting that he’d be part of this next round of layoffs after they did two sets of layoffs last year, so it wasn’t a total surprise. There is a couple months of severance involved thankfully. So we’re dealing with that change right now. While that was going on yesterday morning, I also found out I am needed to fill in for three different instances of employee training this week as our primary trainer is out sick with RSV. All of this made me feel like a chicken with its head cut off on a Monday! The first part of me subbing for training went off without a hitch today, but the more challenging days are Thursday and Friday. I’m sure all will end up fine though.
So now I have to go in to the office for the Thursday and Friday trainings, which threw a wrench in my plans of honey and almond perfumes all week because I’ll need to be unscented at the office. Honey and almond notes are two of my very favorites!
So today I’m reveling in Ariose by Fūm, which I love so, so much. I think it has made its way into my top 10 perfumes. Yesterday was Kilian Back to Black, a honey favorite.
Good luck with everything, therabbitsflower!
Thank you sp!
That is a lot to hit in one day! I hope your partner is able to find a new job soon. There was a significant round of layoffs at my company in late 2022 (October, IIRC), and was actually hoping that I would get laid off, as it would have involved a considerable amount of severance, and I was planning to retire in a few months anyway (I retired at the end of March 2023). Naturally, since I would have liked a severance package, I didn’t get laid off. The good part is that nobody in my work group got laid off, as it was determined that all of us were essential. So, it kind of sucked that I didn’t get a nice hefty layoff package, but I was glad that none of the younger employees were let go involuntarily.
Yes, it was a lot yesterday! And I’m glad in your past situation that none of the younger employees were let go involuntarily. And now that you’re retired you don’t have to worry about workplace stuff like that. 😉
Right now I’m definitely dreaming of not having to worry about workplace drama! But I have a good 20 more years to go
Same here!
It always works that way, doesn’t it? There have been a couple times over my career (most recently last year) that I’ve been hoping for the layoff and severance (even though I’d likely have to hire a lawyer to the the severance I’m due from my current company). But somehow they always think I’m needed. I need to make myself more dispensable.
What a rough start to your year! I hope things smooth out soon, and good luck to your husband if he starts his job search soon.
Thank you, tulipani! He’s at least taking this week to decompress and enjoy a rare period of time where he’s not working and not actively looking yet.
I’m sorry for all of the beginning of the year discombobulation. I hope that Thursday and Friday go well for you and that your partner is able to find work he enjoys.
Thanks, allo!
Ughh, so sorry for the work stress for both of you. It seems to be in the air right now
Thank you, and I am already feeling some work stress relief after today ended up going so well.
I’m so sorry to hear about that, but glad you have the severance cushion. Fingers crossed for your partner to find something new.
Appreciate it, ockeghem.
Oy! That is bad news about your partner getting laid off! Wishing him the best.
As to your doing double-duty, this could be another opportunity for you to shine, to be filed away for immediate or future reference.
Thank you, hajusuuri!
Thankfully, the Thursday and Friday will be co-facilitating training with my manager, and she and I are pretty comfortable covering this particular topic together, though I haven’t formally instructed on some of what we’ll cover. It’s just something unexpected to prepare for, plus having to actually commute in this week while we may get our first snow of the season. But I’m sure everything will end up fine! Trying to be positive and optimistic.
OMG, that IS a lot to deal with at once. Good luck!
Thanks, Jalapeno! I hope your first days in Colorado have been good ones!
I don’t even want to talk about the weather. .. anyway.. I know December was warmish and precipitation free but here we go with real winter. I might have 15- 20 inches of snow by Sunday. I have a few 2023 vacation days I have to use up, I am going to see if I can take them next week.
I am wearing Mugler Wonder Bouquet. It has a beeswax note. I mostly get jasmine and bread.
Lillyjo, if I still owned my house in Florida, I’d tell you fly there with the family and soak up some heat and sun. Except, not right now because they’re having massive storms with multiple tornadoes. Don’t want you to jump out of winter and into a tornado! 😅
This is why I have never moved. Wherever I go there will be some sort of weather event to upset me. I’m trying really hard this season to not get so anxiety filled. But it’s hard. Thanks for thinking of me.
Not nice about the snow but certainly nice about the perfume!
I did smell amazing!
No snow here to speak of, but the stupid COLD temps are on their way. Oh joy.
Jalapeno.. I just read that a Colorado low is coming my way and will form into massive snow and possibly a blizzard for me.
I’m going to have to start blaming you for my weather now! Lol.
I’m wearing Hiram Green Voyage 2019, it doesn’t officially contain a honey note, but it’s one of the most honeyed florals I have smelled.
That works then!
Ughh. Had a stressful interaction with a colleague yesterday, which was gnawing at me all evening and night (the worst insomnia, not even sure I got a solid hour of sleep). Canceled my afternoon training appointment, because there was no way.
We had our “talk it out” earlier today, which was mostly him making sure he put me in my place. It will be fine, but it sucked. This experience was the most overt gender bias I’ve experienced in the workplace. Nothing that rises to a reportable offense, but there is no way he would have treated a male colleague the same. And I just sat there and mostly kept my mouth shut, because I knew that would serve my interests the most in the end. So I guess he really did put me in my place.
Sigh. Sorry, that’s hardly uplifting perfume talk, and might send conversation down a too-political path.
No perfume yet. Thinking of something cozy and comforting as I huddle in bed, mending my soul.
Ugh — I hate hate hate that, and have been there. I got some constructive feedback from my current manager yesterday and I was so grateful that he did it very well. (It was minor so I would never have taken it the wrong way, anyway, but I was conscious that he was working to do it well.)
So glad your feedback experience wasn’t traumatic. Receiving and giving feedback well is such an art.
I’m so sorry you had to deal with this nitwit! It IS very disconcerting and emotional, especially if one is a non confrontational person. On one of my recent contracts, I ended up leaving early because this man was so verbally aggressive- yelling at me in a patient’s room, that I really felt unnerved. And, coincidentally, when I left work that day I had two big fat nails in one of my dually tires. There were no cameras to prove anything, but I KNOW it was him. I never went back. Is there anyway to avoid this person at work or do you have to subject yourself to his jackassery?
Ughh, what a frustrating and frightening experience!
We work fairly closely and generally have a good working relationship, which is why I think he felt more comfortable just letting loose.
We’ve had 2 big blowups in 5 years, so I know it will pass.
It’s just frustrating to be enacting a dynamic that’s like a cliched bad marriage: wife placating and tiptoeing around angry man.
I feel bad this happened to you. How do you know that it doesn’t rise up to a reportable offense. If it was bad enough and you’re not sure, I would report it. He could have done it to other people and a pattern may come out of it.
We’re peers who have worked closely together, and risen through the ranks, over 5+ years. We’ve successfully navigated conflict in the past. I think he felt free to be this way precisely because of that history, and wouldn’t do that to someone else.
He’s unhappy in the job for reasons not me, and his tantrum also included an un-subtle threat to quit, which would make my life more difficult, as I would have to help fill the void.
Just no upside to HR here.
What an awful thing to deal with. I’m sure you did the right thing, but it does make my blood boil just reading about it.
Yeah. The most irritating thing is how I let his anger affect my mood. Like, why do I have to let his tantrum—and knowing that he’s angry at me—affect me so much? Especially when I respect him less now?
I really wish I could master the art of zen or the power of now or whatever, but I haven’t gotten there yet.
I’m not there either! And it is a hard attitude to have at work.
Very, very late today. I was twins with Glannys in SL Sa Majeste la Rose. Once I put it on, I did get the honey in the mid notes. It’s not loud but it mellows out the scent and it’s there. Nearly thunked that sample but I’m so bad at letting myself thunk anything…I always want it as a reference.
Yesterday I did two of the samples I got over the holidays against each other: Memo French Leather and Memo African Leather. I preferred the latter, though I don’t think I need an FB of either.
It’s always good to have a reference! But, it IS kind of satisfying these days when you sniff something new and realize, “Nope, no full bottle needed!” 👍🏼
100% on the satisfaction of not needing a full bottle. I’ve been working to shift my attitude toward my samples from “task I must complete to get to (the next) The One” to “hey, this is a reference library of olfactory experiences, enjoy at your leisure with no pressure to make a decision”.
I sampled a handful of the Meno leathers, all lovely, but thankfully I had the same reaction: I don’t need to own.
Hello again, NSTers!
More crazy happening for me. To be expected after a major long distance move, but some of it has been self inflicted. Sigh.
The move started with a rainy late December day, when I took a bus to the UHaul rental place. That was what I moved perfumes, Teflon kitty, some of my clothes, and myself with. That happened the day before the actual movers showed up.
Moving Out of NJ Day was drizzly and gloomy all day. IIRC, it was wet weather the day we had moved into that condo, so there was some symmetry there. But it was still exhausting, both physically and mentally. There was a horrible moment where I thought Teflon might have gotten outside while the movers were doing their thing. Instead, she had bolted into the basement and was hiding behind some shelves that we left for the buyer.
Teflon kitty is NOT a happy traveler. But she did much better than I thought she would. I had some “chill pills” I could give her, plus a couple doses of anti-nausea medication since I thought she was prone to motion sickness. Nope, turns out it was just an extremely strong dislike of being confined in the cat carrier. She is very happy to be in one place now.
SOTD = back in Boyfriend Body Creme. The longevity on this is astounding. Easily lasts 24 hours or more.
What a stressful time. Moving is so hard, and the more you have, the harder it is. I hope your new place becomes a happy and warm place to come home to every day! The nice thing is that you can make it all yours and do whatever you want with decor, within the rental parameters anyway. Hope you have some time to settle in and make it cozy!
Poor Teflon. Poor you! But it’s all over now and you both have wonderful adventures ahead.
I hate moving. So glad you and Teflon are safely there and you can take your time to settle in.
I’m just glad you made it there ok. I could have never driven all that way. You rock Jalapeno 🤘
Moving is stressful but moving across the country and doing it yourself is a huge deal! So glad Teflon kitty is settling down in her new home. Enjoy making it yours.
How stressful! Sorry Teflon kitty scared you – I think all cat people can relate. I hope you are both comfortable in your new home now.
