Saturday is Jane Austen’s birthday; Sunday is Wright Brothers Day. As usual, we're celebrating anything and everything with our standard open thread poll.
Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the million things you need to get done this weekend (and the fragrance you might buy while procrastinating), whatever.

Happy weekend, fragrant friends!
I’m traveling to Germany for the holidays, specifically to Bonn, near Cologne (!!). Any smelly destinations you’d recommend? We’re doing the xmas markets for sure and gluhwein will be consumed 🙂
Well, in Cologne there’s 4711, of course. But I have to say I just went in long enough to buy a small bottle of the classic scent and then left…and you can get that anywhere.
Not smelly, but if you have a free afternoon and like contemporary German history, there’s a very good museum in Bonn that covers Germany since 1945. (I realize that may not be everyone’s bag, but it was one of my fields when I was studying to be an historian.) And Cologne, of course, has wonderful art museums.
Otherwise, enjoy the Christmas markets! They’re one of my favourite things in the whole world. I’m looking forward to being there next year.
lovely, thanks for the recommendations! i love art museums, will have to check them out 🙂
Yes, the markets are so much fun!
https://www.parfuemerie-vollmar.com/exklusive-parfuemerie-linz-onlineshop-exklusive-parfums-nischenduefte-herren-damen/
There is a perfume shop in Linz, about 30 minutes from Bonn called Vollmar. If you are visiting .
Also, in Bonn is the Beethoven birthplace which is a cool wee spot
https://www.beethoven.de/en/museum
Have fun!
thanks for the recommendations! Bonn is also the HQ of Haribo, so I will be eating lots of candy 😛
We did the Christmas markets in 2019 and it was the best trip we ever took. We visited multiple markets in Berlin, Munich, and Frankfurt, with side trips to Salzburg (twice), Potsdam, and Stuttgart. You’re going to have such a good time!
Lovely! We are definitely planning to hit as many Xmas markets as we can!
Parfümerie Vollmar (Sternstrasse 64, 53111 Bonn) looks interesting, but haven’t been there myself…
thank you! will take a look 🙂
Safe travels, and enjoy those Christmas markets!
thank you, friend!
Not sure yet what I’ll wear today. Maybe Turmeric Latte? Or Eau de Fröhliche? Right now I’m wearing Eau de Spot Shot, because I came downstairs when I woke up and stepped right into a lake of cat puke. The joys of pet ownership!
I was hoping to get down to the local U.S. exclave to pick up a package and send one to my grandmother, but I just don’t think it’s going to happen today. I may have to take some time off work on Monday, I guess. I am going to pick up a vintage poster that I took in for framing two months ago, though. That’ll be the finishing piece for one of my washroom renovations. Yay!
Oh my, so sorry about the cat puke. Always unpleasant, especially when it’s unexpected! Good luck with all your errands👍🏼
Happened to me the other day. Sigh.
Ew. Stepping in cat barf is NOT a nice way to start a day. Especially if you’re barefoot.
Happy weekend to all! Hope everyone is getting their pre-holiday stuff done little by little. 🎄
We are enjoying the last couple weeks of freedom before having to buckle down and do some adulting. Currently in the middle of nowhere. Literally, not a single building, car, or human is sight. Just endless rolling golden grasslands peppered here and there with mesquite trees, leading to gentle swells that belly up to some jagged peaks. The dry, rocky washes twist and turn, leading farther into nowhere. The wind is gusty, making the grass shiver and sway, showing off its bright yellow, then tan, then cream colors. I’m reminded of the African savanna minus the lions, zebras, and wildebeest. Instead we have pronghorn, coyote, possibly a cougar or two that wander down occasionally from the mountains. Although I have seen none of these animals I know they are here.
Initially there is a feeling of emptiness, aloneness, but I know it’s just because my eye is not practiced in the art of detecting all the little signs that tell me life is teeming in its secret places, completely without regard to the human agenda. A hoof print here, a bleached bone there, the flicker of wings that quickly disappear into the grass…
So, while it doesn’t seem to make sense or be connected in any way, I’m wearing SB Smoked Ambergris because there is that same feeling with this perfume. Vast, empty, but filled with little nuances that proclaim life is steaming along if only you take the time to look, listen and smell.
I really enjoyed this evocative description. Thanks for sharing. Haven’t managed to go camping since before COVID. Maybe next year I’ll manage to book a site at one of the state or national parks. You’re inspiring me!
Good luck! Camping has changed quite a bit since 2020, especially if you’re staying in campgrounds, but still enjoyable if you book during the off season or shoulder season. 🏕️
Gosh Deva, you write beautifully.
I’m sorry you have to go back to work soon.
Thanks! I’m sorry I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth…and also very sorry you have to work until MIDNIGHT! That’s just crazy. Is that the time the store closes, and then you have to stay even later to close out and straighten up? Or is that the time you get to walk out the door? Either way, I sure hope you’re able to sleep in a bit the next day. 💤
Sounds wonderful, enjoy!
Will do!
LITTLE by little…too much to do, my stamina for doing it is poor this weekend 🙂
Enjoy every last second of not-adulting!
Robin, I don’t know how you drew the Christmas Eve AND Christmas dinner card…that seems like an awful lot. I’m hoping you have some dependable helping hands with all of that. 👨🍳
It is not a lot since others are doing all the cooking! So, yes, many dependable helping hands. I just have to clean and organize and wrap a few things and do a few errands and whatnot. Blew much of yesterday but got lots done today!
Deva, that was a beautiful piece of prose. I’ve never been to any desert area, and you make it sound mesmerizing.
Thanks, I love the desert, but only in winter, so if you ever find yourself visiting someplace like this make sure it’s in the cooler months. Otherwise you’ll die. 🥵 I’m not even exaggerating..
Right! I know you’re not exaggerating. I would never go in the summer, though. Even here, where it seems to be in the 90’s all summer now, I can hardly stand it.
That was a lovely read, Deva.
Thanks! This is a lovely area, very easy to fall in love with. 🏜️
What a wonderful break before you’ve got to plunge back into the fray!
Yes, I have to keep reminding myself that it’s a “break,” not retirement! 😬
Deva,
When we are on the savannah in Kenya or Tanzania, my sister often recalls how much she is reminded of exactly where you are. She, my brother in law and nephew would go camping every summer when younger.
We go on evening walking safaris ( with guides and rangers) and one gets to see all the bones, the insects that eventually eat through, the birds who stride with purpose to flatten the grasses for other wildlife.
It’s amazing when we have the quiet and look to see how we are dust to dust as the endless migration goes on. Thanks for this lovely share.
That sounds amazing! I’ve been very curious about your trip and so happy you told us a bit about it. Being led by a person who is knowledgeable about the area and wildlife makes all the difference. Waiting right along side you with great anticipation for your 2025 Gorilla foray! 🦍
Have you ever driven the stretch of I-80 between Green River, WY and Little America?
It’s the most desolate place that I have been. Seeing a single pronghorn is cause for excitement.
Christmas and the New Year are hurtling toward me, but I finally mailed the last Xmas package yesterday and can start to relax. I’m wearing APLS today, it seems like the season fits animalic fragrances. I’ll try to get a walk in later when it warms up a bit. It’s cold now!
Yay for relaxing!
Love your verb choice in the first sentence!
Yay for packages mailed!!
In the far dry down of the Vanagloria I put on last night. Still absolutely lovely. I’ll put some more on after my workout. My Dad is coming to visit unexpectedly today, I don’t think this scent will offend.
As for the unexpected visit: he’s going to have to cope with a house that’s still a Christmas explosion. Got a late start decorating this year, and have been gone the hat 3 days. I’ll just get some wine in him and make him help with the decorating.
Beyond that, I’m thinking we’ll do Thai takeout and maybe go see the Godzilla movie. There aren’t any other good movie candidates for us right now, and I’ve only heard good things about it (plus 8.5 on IMDB). I like sci fi a lot, but Godzilla hasn’t been my thing.
I’d like to see that movie. Godzilla fan.
Have fun with your dad MissGoldsmith!
I just ordered a sample of Vanagloria!
It’s so good! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I’m sure your dad won’t mind the christmas explosion house, he’ll just be happy to see you.☺️
We don’t really do much in the way of Christmas any more, so the only thing left to be done is to get food for Christmas Eve and then dinner the following day, but that will wait until some time next week. Otherwise, the lights are up and that’s pretty much it.
Today I’m wearing that delightful no-brainer CSP Vanille Abricot. It’s always the right choice.
We do relatively little, no big present exchanges, just the equivalent of stocking presents. And I am cooking almost nothing this year other than an appetizer for Boxing Day. Still, will host dinners Xmas Eve and Xmas & I feel rushed just trying to get the house ready and get errands done.
That’s a lot! Come to my house next year and we can both do nothing! That’s a skill I exceed at. 😄
Ahem…excel.
Freudian slip?
Calypso: definitely, lol!
I am pretty sure we are both old pros 🙂
☺️
The older I get, the better a Low Key Christmas sounds.
Good morning! I’ve got a bit of NST to catch up on after a short trip to visit my mother. We’re not visiting her for Christmas, it’s a visit to my beloved’s mother this year, so I wanted to see my mother near the time. I’m planning a slightly longer trip early next year when I’ll get the chance to see friends and other relatives.
Meanwhile, this morning I’m smelling of Bengale Rouge. I sprayed some on the sleeve of a top I wore a few days ago, and it’s still going strong.
You smell lovely.
Oh, that’s a gorgeous one! Hoping your mom has friends to spend the day with!
Went grocery shopping in vintage Shalimar edt today. Trying to decide on tomorrow’s Christmas scent. Maybe Theorema or vintage BaV.
Those are both great Christmas scents, and shopping in vintage sounds like fun — I do the housework in vintage all the time, because why not elevate your chores?
I say NO to the chores 🤣🤣🤣
Ditto this! 😊
Wearing one of my favorite releases of the year, Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere. Mailed my last package & cards yesterday, plan to make a final pre-holiday run to Costco this week, bake an apple pie for myself, butter tarts for the DH, and some dark chocolate chip cookies for all of us. Thinking about maybe making a lasagna, been ages since I made one. Lately it’s been all Mexican food all the time and I need to switch it up.
You’re brave with the butter tarts. Whenever I go to the Korean grocery where I get my bubble tea, I would stop by the bakery to check out the goods (and don’t buy). Anyway, I have not seen the mini egg tarts or pasties de nateles in a long time so I decided to ask. It turned out that they stopped making it because it was too much work!
Yes, they are quite labor-intensive, hence the once a year treat status. 🙂
Yay for using dark chocolate! Any time I have an excellent chocolate chip cookie I think the only thing could possibly make it better is using dark chips. 🍫
Yum. This all sounds delicious! Can I come over?😉
All that Mexican food sounds SO good!
Have been away from NST for a number of days. Was in SoCal first week of December, then got home and went to Milwaukee last weekend.
Visited Scent Bar in Hollywood on Beverly. Confirmed that my nose doesn’t work right, so I decided to use my gift certificate to get a bottle of SMN orange blossom for my husband as a surprise Christmas gift. It seemed a waste for me to buy something for myself. Even LADDM was too muted. Oh well.
Currently commando as it’s 2 pm and I’m still in pjs. I can smell the bayberry wax melts in my warmer, so that’s nice.
Got a surprise package from a dear college friend. She gifted me a kit of gorgeous cashmere yarn and pattern that her husband bought her during COVID. She decided she’s just never going to finish it. Guess I have a nice winter project.
SoCal misses you and is glad you went to Scent Bar!
Finally showered. PdN Rose Oud. Which I can smell. Thankful my husband changed his mind on going to the movies. I get to stay home! Yay!
What movie were you going to see? My daughter and I went to see Eileen last week and it was quite good. Although, we both read the book first lol so knew how it was going to end.
I’m not sure if Eileen is the movie my husband saw. He drove to Appleton on last Tuesday and saw a movie and then up to Green Bay to catch a second one. He commented, “Anne Hathaway can act.”
I see that Meet Me in St Louis is on the big screen in both locations. That is a near-perfect movie. And absolutely stunning in a theater.
Oooh cashmere, nice.
It’s gorgeous and extravagant. We were planning to see The Holdovers.
Sorry to hear that your sense of smell is off.
But Whoo Hoo for cashmere yarn from a dear friend!
SOTD = Chris Rusak Ochre
😱😱😱
So good! Tobacco and tonka, in the right proportions!

In other news, I was going to comment on customer service (or lack thereof). When I went in to cash my check, there were 2 tellers and 2 customers so I knew I had to wait. One of the clients was done shortly thereafter and the teller asked what I was there to transact and I said I am cashing my check. Instead of taking me, she said someone will be with me shortly. Huh? That’s just like a cashier at Starbucks addressing a mobile order instead of helping me when I was in front of the cashier in the store! What’s up with customer service?
I hate places that prioritize the drive thru/mobile customers over the person standing there at the counter. Grr.
Ohh! Glad to hear that about Ochre. I broke my “no more samples in Q4” rule when I got his recent marketing email. My samples are in the mail.
Sorry to hear about your negative customer experience. There’s a lot of that going around these days. I’m not optimistic it will change anytime soon.
Yeah, huh? Maybe she didn’t know how to cash checks.😂
I saw your post this week about tipping but was too busy at work to chime in. I am so over tipping! It is everywhere. If someone is providing a service, I will tip, but not if I’m just walking into a store and picking something up. I think what took the cake for me was this summer when I took my teen to a concert and let her pick out a T-shirt, the guy spun the iPad around for me to pay and there was the option to tip. For what?! For me pointing to a T-shirt and you handing it to me? Nope, sorry.
Finding a good bank anymore seems nearly impossible.
Having said that, I am quite happy with the credit union I am a member of.
Wearing my sample of Malle’s Heaven Can Wait, but decided I prefer
J-C Ellena’s previous work for the brand, L’Eau d’Hiver. Already own a travel spray of Hiver, so money saved.
Received a gift card to a local bookstore and picked up Lone Women:
https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/586730/lone-women-by-victor-lavalle/
Looks compelling!
Oh good, I will believe that Hiver is better and not worry about Heaven 🙂
Enjoy your new book!
Off to celebrate my brother’s 30 birthday, wearing POAL🌹
Hope you have fun!
Thank you, AnnE! We had a great time.
You are smelling great!
Thank you, Kris! I knew it would be a crowd pleaser💃
Have a great time!
We had so much fun! I rented a small movie theater (The Beacon) and we watched one of his favorite films and a slide show of his life (which he sheepishly enjoyed)😊
What a wonderful gift! Has anyone told you what a great sister you are? 🔟
2nd that, what a lovely present.
Having a rock solid relationship with one’s siblings is incredibly valuable. Glad to hear that you both had an excellent time!
Started the day in sample of Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder. This is my second time testing this one and I like it but it so much reminds me of Ambrosia Imperiale so probably not worth adding to the collection.
Done with groceries, cleaning and a walk and all cleaned up and going to a casual Christmas gathering with husband. Wearing Gypsy Water.
Hope it was a fun gathering!
I’ve been commando the last couple of days due to catching some kind of bug that’s going around. I think of it as “flu lite.” Yesterday I definitely felt flu symptoms, but the fever went away by afternoon. Very odd. Today is much better, just lingering congestion. Mr. E. has been coughing for a week, but no flu symptoms. Just weird. I hope everyone here stays healthy! It’s an especially hard time of year to get sick, with so many “shoulds” piled on people. I heard a saying for this time of year: “Don’t should all over yourself!”
I think I will wear Lyric again tomorrow; it’s a Christmas-y sort of scent to me.
Hope you both recover quickly, AnnE. And Lyric is a great idea. I think I’ll wear it again tomorrow as well. 🙂
Thank you. I love the idea of being twins tomorrow, yay!
Glad you are feeling better – I think I must gotten the idea for my Lyric lotion today from skimming the comments yesterday! It is a great Christmas scent – warm and spicy.
Hopefully you get a good night’s sleep and will feel better tomorrow!
Thanks, lillyjo. I do feel better today. 🤗
That’s a great saying! Hope you feel better soon.🤞
Thanks, madtowngirl!
Yuck. Hope you are well on the way to shaking that bug off now.
I am, thanks!
Oh, glad it was lite! My son seems to have a lite something too, hope he will stay lite…
Thanks, Robin. After 2 days, mine has evolved into just a cough. Hope your son has it easy, too!
I work the next 3 nights until midnight. Ugh.. 1 more week to go.
I am wearing Tendre Poison and smell fantastic. I didn’t participate in last weekends poll. I think though that my perfume resolution is to stop wearing/buying crap perfume. I have so many good one’s like Tendre Poison that I just hoard. I think this was a resolution for me before, but I will try harder this year. I have a couple of vintages I am still stalking to get back into my collection, but I haven’t really been tempted by any new releases.
Ugh is right! I hope it’s not terrible for you!
Yes, wear all the pretties!🤩
The worst part is having to work with seasonal help, and having them not show up. Or worse.. show up and not actually work.
What vintages do you have your eagle eye on?
Armani Gio, Gucci round bottle brown juice, Lagerfeld Chloe, Shalimar Cologne pointy cap bottle (lol) Dolce and Gabbana Sicily, Gucci Acenti, Prescriptives Caylx. Boucheron jaiper saphir. TF Sahara Noir. Gosh.. so many! Lol. Oh and Coty Ghost Myst and Nokomis, and total unicorn New West.
All beauties! Unfortunately, I don’t have any of those or I would offer one to you. Darn. I need to purge some vintage BuBs; I’m sure I won’t live long enough to use them, and I think my nieces would think them all too old-fashioned.
Aww thanks.
I have a list a mile long.
I predict old fashion will come back in style eventually.
Best of luck in getting thru that block of late nights!
I saw a bunch of the OG Obsession for Women in the duty free shop at the Tampa Airport this morning. Sniffed the tester just for grins, and was sorely tested, since the bottles were going for $29.99. Smelled pretty good to me now. I didn’t care for it back in the day.
But I DON’T need anything else to pack, so I resisted.
I didn’t like it back then either, but I would be tempted today.
Maybe I will come across it again somewhere else other than an airport Duty Free store.
Poor you! Terrible schedule. Hoping you get a rest after that marathon.
Happy weekend!
Sotd is Feve Gourmande. Delicious chocolatey goodness.
I messaged my local Guerlain to ask if they have the Imagine Guerlain (that limited edition, costly bottle) sample I could sniff and they replied “Yes we do!”, so I went the moment I had time. Surprise surprise, when I got there the SA told me they already sent the sample back to the office a while ago… Then why on earth did they tell me to come? It’s not like I live just next door. Ugh. After an internal phone call on their part, they told me they requested the sample again and would have it in a couple days and I could visit again. We’ll see. I actually have the intention to perhaps splurge for my upcoming birthday if it smells exceptionally wonderful (still cheaper than anything designer bag, or wallet even!) so it’s not like I was smelling it for fun.
I hope they get the sample back and you love it!
Why would they send the sample back? Grr.
It’s been a long busy but enjoyable day. I started out in Stash lotion and hair mist, then added the perfume when I got home this evening. I forgot how nice the body products are. Have a great weekend everyone!
And I forgot there were body products at all! The hair mist sounds worth having.
Happy weekend everyone.
Yesterday I wore No 5 l’eau on one wrist and Eau premiere on the other. I’ve done this several times before, still trying to decide if I need them both. Sigh. I think l’eau might be the winner…? But it’s kind of like trying to decide between Tam Dao and 10 CC. I have both.
Last week I was in Molecule 01 all week and finally thunked my 30 ml bottle. I don’t think I’ll replace it. It’s a like, not a love.
Friday I got in for a much needed haircut, and highlights! I don’t color my hair, so this was a big step for me. In my twenties my hair was platinum blond, literally, but over the years it’s gotten darker. It’s now very much dishwater, or dirty blond. I trust my hairdresser completely and she did a great job. It’s noticeable, but very subtle.
We are back to dreary weather here, hoping the sun will come out today!
That is a tough decision. Your comparison to Tam Dao vs. 10CC really brought that home to me!
Yeah, I don’t have a large collection by any means….less than 30 full bottles, but Tam Dao and 10 CC are both loves. I thunked my 30 ml bottle of Tam Dao earlier this year and need to replace it. I’m going big next time!🤣
Yes! If you wear it enough to thunk a small bottle, def go big next time! I love those two, in part, because they’re wearable all year.
It’s funny, in my mind you have always been a brunette! Lol.
Just this morning I was contemplating letting my hair go grey. I always chicken out.
Yay for haircut and highlights!
Yesterday I took the kids to the met opera to see the magical flute.
then to the east village to eat Japanese bbq. It was a full day..
I wore Shalimar Tonka
Planning on visiting Feuguia perfume shop this week…
That sounds like a beautiful day-did the kids like the opera? I used to like to go to the movie theatre and see The Nutcracker 🙂
Good morning! It’s 10 AM and I’ve been up for five hours! I’m still suffering from jet lag. I’ve already been out for groceries and to buy a Christmas tree!
Wow this early morning schedule had its pluses: no traffic on the roads and no lines at the store! One big minus: the clerk at Kroger had to inform me she couldn’t ring up amy wines on Sunday before 10am. Who knew! I was there at 8. I said “Oh I guess you’ve got to go to church before you can get your wine?” Fortunately she took it well—a young African American woman and she promptly sang out, “Praise Jesus!” We both laughed.
Then I got my little tree at Home Depot. I say little but it’s 5-7 feet. It has a nice top. For now it’s lying on the living room floor being investigated by cats.
I’m wearing one of my Reef perfumes from Riyadh: Arabs Collection Obaiah. It’s creeping up on me. It goes on like a sort of standard male cologne but then it gets your attention as really different. The notes are pineapple, oud, and leather. It’s quite intriguing and I notice a hint of spice too. These scents start out very strong but then they wear quietly and close to the skin.
Hope you’re having a nice Sunday! It’s gorgeous sunny weather here in the 60’s.
Good idea to introduce the tree undecorated so the kitties can accept it into the house. =^v^=
That wine comment was pretty darn funny!
I’ve spent this weekend in a variety of things. Yesterday started off with a vigorous application of Omnia Ambra (while the FB was still unwrapped), switched to CdG Kyoto after a shower, and then 24, Faubourg at bedtime. All so good! This morning I’m back in Under My Skin and trying hard not to just order the bottle that I’m more and more certain will be mine eventually.
Question for the group: any brilliant and/or unique ideas for 90th birthday decorations? I’m doing a display of old photos on a big bulletin board and am having all the photos scanned so I can also have a slideshow running on a laptop, but I sort of feel like I should have something more. Flower or plant arrangements might be nice, but the event is being catered and there will only be room for about 20 people at two large tables so arrangements would have to be small and pretty unnoticeable. Has anyone done a garland around a photo board, and did it work? Other ideas?
SheriG, sounds like it’s going to be an amazing celebration. One thing I have seen is a slide show of pictures that change but it’s in a frame-does that make sense? So digital pictures changing across a small frame that acts as a screen. Like an ever changing picture. And what about the music-is it possible to choose a happy time in that person’s life, and have some of the music that would have been playing then?
The birthday person has one of those picture frames (probably lots of the invitees do too), so the plan is to email the photo scans to her and anybody else who wants them after the party. I’m already spending a fair amount on the scanning itself, so I’m using the laptop because I already own it. But music is a great idea! I know a couple of her favorite artists and I think the slideshow app I’m using has an “add music” function. Will investigate — thank you!
We just had a 90th birthday party for my mother in law a few weeks ago. We had a birthday cake that of course said, “Happy 90th Birthday (and the name)” and then 90th Birthday napkins with Christmas candles/pinecones/greens on the table. Depending on when you have it would depend on the decorations or centerpiece. We also had a laminated folder that had events that happened the year of 1933. We had about 20 people as well at a restaurant where they gave us a private room.
My plans today are so gentle-we’ve all been working a lot and I don’t want to totally collapse on the sofa but I want a more gentle day. There’s classical music from around the world on the radio, and there are gifts to be wrapped and a few cookies to bake but it’s after one pm and I’m in my pyjamas working cuticle oil into my nails lol. And I have to confess to this group-bought myself a present. Found a sample of Olfactive Studio’s Iris Shot on sale, and it’s on its way to me. I hope it’s good. I like iris.
Your day sounds magical! Enjoy!
What a lovely day! Hope the Iris Shot is perfect.
In Spendiris today.
Let me tell you, I’m not looking forward to Christmas this year.
Lucasi, it can be a difficult time of year, for sure. I hope you’re ok. I always enjoy your posts and your scents.
Hugs Lucasai. I hope you are ok.💙
I am sorry this is a difficult time for you.
Hugs. This time of year can be particularly difficult for someone who has experienced a significant loss or change in life circumstance.
Your feelings are valid.
Just bought a BUB of that not too long ago so I know you smell wonderful.
Holidays are difficult. Be sure and reach out to others.
So sorry lucasai. Hope it goes easier than you’re expecting, and that 2024 brings better things.
On my way to a Christmas party right now. Have the tiniest dab of Coromandel extrait.
When you have time will you please tell us about your SOTD? I have the EDT and I like it so much. Wondering what the parfum is like. Enjoy your party-you smell gorgeous 🙂
The parfum is deeper and much more dense than the edt. The edp version of Coromandel was sheered down, probably due to reformulation.
It’s quite possible that this is already on everyone’s radar/has already been posted, but just in case, fyi:
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/a-new-encyclopedia-explores-europes-smelly-history-180983417/?mc_cid=e829d7cbc2&mc_eid=23b2cff688#new_tab
I hadn’t seen this, and it looks fascinating! On my reading list it goes. 😉
Oh I missed that too! Will post about it next week.
Started out the day with just Lyric hand cream, but I used it as a body lotion. That seemed to work just fine. I am near a thunk on the bottle, and I feel it was a good way to experience Lyric without buying the perfume. I got nice spicy rose wafts all day. Just a bit ago, I spied my OG Jardins de Bagatelle edt and gave myself several sprays. It took over so I did not clash my scents too much! I am having no trouble with my no buy, but I am making a list for January when it ends. I am thinking of samples from Mona di Orio, Thameen and Maison Crivelli. But like lillyjo, I will always be on the hunt for vintage something!
I love Mona di Orio scents, esp Suede de suede, Dojima, and Musc. Hope you share your impressions once you’ve had a chance to sniff! I’, unfamiliar with the Crivelli scents – are they good?
Some of those scented hand creams make for the most wonderful body lotions!
Hiya NST!
I’m back. A lightning quick trip out to CO to take care of paperwork. I started traveling last night at 9:30 Denver time, and got home at around 4:30pm Eastern (NYC) time. Tired!
SOTD = commando.
That was quick! Did you have to physically go to Colorado for paperwork only??
Paperwork, physically inspect the new apartment, pay this month’s rent, and collect my keys.
Some of those things had to be done in person. Others can eventually be set up as online tasks. But I don’t have Internet access out there yet.
Wow, that’s a LOT! I hope you have a few days to decompress and relax!
That’s very kind of you to say so.
Alas, I have more packing to do. Plus laundry now!
Glad you got back safely! Did you drive through the night? 😦
Didn’t drive. I flew, mostly. I did the whole “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” thing.
And of course, my connecting flight was in Tampa thing morning. Holy freaking turbulence, Batman!
Glad you stayed safe. And glad you got to take care of some things.
Sleep well tonight.
Thanks lillyjo!
And that should have been “Tampa THIS morning”. Not a lot of sleep last night. I have some travel stories, and a Commuting Adventure that reminded me of hajusuuri’s stories.
But that’s for later. Didn’t get much sleep last night.
Ugh, really should have double-checked that copy!
I know Florida was getting some wicked storms this weekend. Sorry you had to experience that.
It wasn’t just Florida. It seemed like the entire East Coast was stormy. And a good chunk of the Gulf Coast, too.
At least I didn’t have to deal with a cancelled flight!
So do you like your new apartment and the location in Colorado?
Yes. I’m near my brother, but far enough away that we won’t get on each other’s nerves.
Such beautiful blue skies when I was out there, and then I come back to yucky grey clouds and rain.
IIRC, Colorado is one of the sunniest states in the country. ☀️
Yep! Denver claims 300 days of sunshine a year, but that is a bit of an exaggeration.
I love sun, that’s a big plus!
