Indie brand Imaginary Authors has launched Blend No. 83, a new limited edition fragrance. Blend No. 83 was made in collaboration with Absolut and Kahlúa, and named for the year the espresso martini was invented.
Like the iconic cocktail itself, this Espresso Martini-inspired fragrance by Absolut and Kahlúa is decadent, complex, and utterly irresistible, making for a surprisingly wearable experience. Perfect for any time of day, especially when you’re craving an Espresso Martini.
The year was 1983 and the place was a bar in London. A supermodel told the bartender she didn’t know if she needed a cocktail, a coffee, or both. Forty years later and the rest is history.
Based on the origin story of one of the most popular cocktails in the world, Blend No. 83 is a tale of intrigue and mystery, captivating readers at the first word. Transcending time to blend both the past and the present, an unlikely pair of heroes—a worldly bartender and a world renowned supermodel—emerge to each tell their account of what happened on that fateful night. We all know the ending, but how did we get there? Blend No. 83 invites you to experience the Espresso Martini like never before through a thrilling story filled with glamor, glitz, and cultural icons. You won’t be able to put this one down.
The notes feature dark chocolate, sugar cane rum, arabica coffee, velvety foam, benzoin, night musk and decadence.
Imaginary Authors Blend No. 83 is available now for pre-order at Imaginary Authors, $105 for 50 ml. Shipping will be in late November. If you pre-order, you can also get the "coupe-like" crystal flacon shown in the image above, presumably while supplies last, for a $28 shipping fee.

I’ll definitely try this. I’m still looking for “my” coffee fragrance.
I think they are not selling samples for this one, because it is so limited edition. They also don’t seem to be doing a travel size. It’s getting huge press coverage and guessing it will sell out pretty quickly as a novelty Xmas gift.
But that’s just a guess!
Ah, well never mind then. I’ll have to hope for it to join the regular collection later as you mention below.
I am looking for my coffee scent, too. Bummed that there aren’t samples available.
This sounds like my sort of decadence! No mention of tobbacco, which continues to be a no -No for me in perfumes! But Kahlua! Yum yum!
It does sound delicious. If they’d done a travel size I’d have ordered it on the spot.
ps sort of hoping that as with the Whiff of Waffle Cone, it will join the regular collection later.
Thanks for the limited edition quick sellout warning! I will think about doing a blind buy on this and offering decants if it is not to my taste…. Oh, good morning Robin, hope you have beaten off the buggies!
Sign me up for a decant!
Making a note! But when I start talking about it again please remind me – my filing system has gone the way of the passenger pigeon during the last few months full-crisis living! I hope to start putting everything back in order here!
And sign me up, too.
I have ordered a bottle of this today. I will let you know when it arrives. I have had some 5 ml and 10 ml plastic spray decant bottles, but I have to find them! If I like it a lot, I will send out 5 ml decants, if it doesn’t get along with my sniffer for some reason, 10 ml decants! Adorable hubby has another appointment with the surgeon, cancer doc, liver doc, and whoever else can find an excuse to edge in, so I cannot predict any timeline pending new conversations- my life continues to be utterly unpredictable! La La La!
I am well, thanks, and hope adorable hubby is doing well too!
Aloha!! I am new here, but am also super intrigued by this chocolate martini-inspired frag and would like to acquire a 5ml if possible for my hubby who I think will enjoy this fragrance adventure, but not sure enough to invest in the full bottle yet!
If you have received it, what are your initial thoughts? And might I hop on the decant list!? : ))
I have been notified that the shipping has been delayed. Again. I will check with these people and see what is up! Thanks for asking, and I will add you to thedecant list if this is indeed a real thing, and not vaporfume that is lost, along with my money, in the sands of time!
They are going to be getting this line to add to what is on offer at our local niche perfume Mecca here in Houston, Kuhl-Linscomb. Sadly, I do not feel very enthused about it, but it might prove me wrong. It may be that I have a visceral reaction to the idea of “imaginary authors.” In short, the idea just seems dumb to me.
It’s already in! I saw it last weekend! I was more impressed that I had been by the few I’ve smelled before.
In the beginning I thought I was going to enjoy several of Imaginary Authors scents. After trying quite a few, I have found that Fox in the Flowerbed works for me, but not many of the others. I think I will be passing on this one. However, I will say that Josh does give excellent customer service.
