It's Monday and National Nachos Day. Birthdays: John Philip Sousa, Glenn Frey, Arturo Sandoval and Colson Whitehead. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in April Aromatics Liquid Dreams.
Reminder: 11/10 is Neil Gaiman's birthday. If you read (or watched) Good Omens, maybe scent Aziraphale or Crowley? Or scent some other favorite Gaiman work, or just wear a fragrance that you think fits any fantasy, science fiction or graphic novel or movie/show of your choice (it doesn't have to be by Gaiman).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in Grey Flannel, which I love.
I love it too…you smell great today.
Yesterday I visited the Guerlain counter to smell the extraits.
I loved the Tonka and the Jasmin. The Jasmin is the only one I sprayed on skin and really enjoyed it a lot. Someone should do a split of these extraits! They are so expensive! I can still smell the Jasmin on my skin even this morning.
I also smelled the new Shalimar flanker. It was a pass for me.
When I smelled the fragrance inside the new bee bottle, I swooned! So beautiful.
I am commando as I am running around preparing for an event this evening. I am happy to be feeling good enough to go. I am thinking of channeling some old Hollywood glam for tonight. I am thinking Veronica Lake as my muse. And Chanel perfume. What Chanel do you think she would pick…?
I am sipping Darjeeling second flush. It was picked on the strawberry full moon. This was a nice gift that was given to me by a friend.
Looking at Veronica Lake’s photographs, I imagine her wearing Chanel No 22.
Me too! I was thinking No 22 or maybe 31RC
Thanks for your opinion Glannys!
🤝
I thought of Cuir de Russie first, but then decided that No 22 suits her better. As for 31RC, it fits her elegance, but for some reason I imagine a lady with brown hair when I think of RC31.
I have brown hair 🙂
Well, one more reason to wear RC31! 😀
For some reason since you mentioned Cuir de Russie-that stuck. But I don’t have that one. I am thinking Le Lion.
ok the Darjeeling is making my mouth water, and I love VL, too. In terms of glamour I could imagine her in Mon Parfum Cherie, in the gorgeous deep red bottle.
I agree with Glannys about 22, and about picking a dark haired person for 31. I have no idea why.
Ok- I will keep you posted on what I pick
Hello all!
I’m in a tiny dab of Chypre Palatin which I’m unfortunately loving. I wish I could afford Parfums MDCI. I’m scared to try the rereleased Enlevement Au Serail as I think I’d love it.
I had a pretty restful weekend, including seeing Killers of the Flower Moon with a friend. Trying as hard as possible not to get ready till as late as possible.
Have a great day everyone.
MDCI is expensive and did snap a bottle of Un Coeur en Mai a few years ago with an unexpected windfall.
Oh that seems like a great way to celebrate a windfall. I think I’d pick La Belle Helene but I haven’t tried the whole line.
It’s a shame they don’t do travel sprays in basic bottles.
I agree. I would own quite a few….
I was inspired by your comment to wear some of my bottle of La Ravissante today! I had so much fun sniffing those beauties last fall at Parfumerie with foxbins.
How did you like that movie?
Still in yesterday’s vintage Jicky but will be switching over to Epic after my shower. Amouage is releasing some new exceptional extraits. One is Dia 40 (women) and the other is Jubilation 40 (men). More things that I can’t afford and I would love to try Dia.
And I would love to try the Jubilation! Or to have a bottle of the original for that matter.
I love AA Liquid Dreams and have a FB of it. I have also gotten FB of Calling All Angels and Ray of Light for DH before. I find the AA perfumes to have decent longevity (particularly for all-natural scents).
Fairy tales are fantasy, right? I am in PPC Ivy Tower, which I am matching up with the Rapunzel story.
Nice match and points for you!
I would love to have a bottle of Ray of Light.
I am wearing Guerlain Samsara matching it with Gaiman’s short story Other people. It is very short (less than 1000 words = roughly 5 min to read) and can be read or listened to here – https://xpressenglish.com/our-stories/other-people/
The story mentions some torture and body mutilation, but the descriptions are not very graphic.
“Time is fluid here”
Today I took my cat to a state vet to get her a passport required for going abroad. The old one is only good for domestic travel. I also need an anti-rabies blood test for her. I do not have any specific travelling plans, but with the current situation in the country it is better to be ready. The kitty was very good and was given a treat after we returned from the vet.
There is so much going on in the world-glad your kitty is ok, and I hope you are too, Glannys:)
I have not read that! I read Coraline and The Graveyard Book years ago, and that is the extent of my Gaiman reading. My son loved American Gods. I ought to read Good Omens but the series has probably ruined it for me.
I have not read a lot of Gaiman either. Neverwhere, Stardust (watched the film too) and Coraline. And some of his short stories.
I’m sorry you have to plan for the possibility of leaving the country again. Poor you and poor kitty. I hope things improve for your security.
Glad that sweet Kora kitty was on her best behavior at the vet. Given your situation, it’s good to be prepared.
I love Samsara ❤️ I should wear it more often.
I’m in Molecule 01.
I didn’t sleep as bad last night as I usually do after the time change, so that’s a win.
We are supposed to hit 63 today which is unseasonably warm, I’ll take it!🌞
Looking at 63 here too but it’s so windy! Like shake the house windy.
Glad that you had a less terrible night of sleep than usual after the clock-touching business! 🥴⏰
Warm here too, but lot’s of rain.
Domestic day today so I drenched myself in Boucheron this morning. The marigold in the topnotes really stands out smells so good with all the other florals; this is a big everything but the kitchen sink perfume. Love it.
Hope it carries you through your domestic chores in style 🙂
Wearing Shalimar this morning, wishing for a good cup of tea and maybe a muffin.
I just had a nice cup of tea but a muffin would be nice!
I’m still in Coromandel, and it’s still pleasing me. Perfect for our cool fall temperatures.
Hope everyone’s day is good, and I’m looking forward to hearing what everyone is wearing 🙂
Coromandel is fabulous! You smell good.
Back in Hey Jude, and reapplied more heavily than last time on the theory that maybe I just needed more. Nah. Finishing off this mini-mini bottle and that will be that. It reminds me of Coqui Coqui’s Rosas Frescas, without the latter’s brightness and clarity of the underlying rose. Linear, and vaguely vitamin-y. Not for me, I guess I am saying ☹️
Interesting. Thanks for the 2nd report.
Hello!
Sotd is Violette Volynka. Elegant and very pretty violet and today I got a hint of sweetness which I didn’t get before.
I got my hands on a can of Carolina Reaper almonds. Looks devilishly good. I might need a glass of milk handy though.
I had to google Carolina Reaper. Wow, that does look like it needs a glass of milk. I think my teenage son would go nuts for it. Pun intended! This would be a fun stocking stuffer.
Yikes! I won’t go anywhere near Carolina Reaper chilies!
Wearing YSL Cinema EdT again…it’s my shiny new object and good for the season.
Glanced through WSJ online as I was working, and saw an interview with Henry Winkler. It was titled “Henry Winkler’s Secret to Always Smelling Great.” He wears Terre d’Hermes. In perfume, not Eau de Cologne.
Although I doubt it’s actually “perfume”. EdT?
Terre d’Hermes actually does come in a parfum concentration.
Ooh. Good to know. I actually love the idea he’d wear the perfume.
I love Cinema in both EDT and EDP.
Thanks for the fun info on Henry Winkler.
Interesting! I didn’t know TdH came in perfume form either
In Roja Dove Enslaved from a split. Lovely stuff, but this is what I say about the price:

Cheers!
Ha! Thanks for the link. And the laugh.
Great video!
A cat story: I needed a urine sample from Bertie Wooster so last night I put him, water, a blanket, and a litter box with plastic litter in the bathroom shower enclosure. It has a heavy glass door and I shut it all the way. I left the bathroom door open because I have two other cats and there is a litter box for them in the bathroom, too. I went to bed. This morning when I opened my bedroom door, Bertie Wooster looked up and meowed at me. Somehow, his two pals had managed to slide the shower door open enough for him to escape. They all looked very pleased with themselves. Cats may take over the world someday.
I’m wearing the remnants of PG Un Crime Exotique on my shirt. It lasts forever on fabric. I might reapply after the root canal this afternoon. The last Neil Gaiman I read was The Ocean at the End of the Lane. The title alone holds CP possibilities.
I love this cat story!! And I had no idea you had a cat named Bertie Wooster, how fun.
Oh my, I hope you won’t have to leave again. That sounds scary.
This got shifted to the wrong place, sorry!
I meant to sympathize about mystery cat tricks. Ugh! I hope your root canal wasn’t too bad.
One hundred percent agree that cats will rule the world….they are amazingly intelligent
The only reason cats don’t rule the world right now is b/c they don’t have opposable thumbs.
Can you imagine the chaos if they did? But it seems that your clowder doesn’t need them.
I suspect the main reason why cats have not taken over officially is that ruling the world would disrupt their naps.
I met Neil Gaiman at a science fiction convention here in New Zealand about 25 years ago, but that was before I knew much about him, so I didn’t pay the attention I now wish I had.
We watched The Sandman recently, which had all sorts of interesting characters. I think a dark rose fits the general feel, so I’m wearing Noir de Noir today.
Oh how cool!!
I heard the Sandman series was really good. Wasn’t sure if I was up to the theme at the moment.
Oh wow about meeting him!! 👀
I am not familiar with the Sandman, but dark rose fits dark fantasy aesthetic often present in Gaiman’s stories.
Last night I got into my head to wear Chambre Noire from Olfactive Studio today so that’s what I’m wearing. It’s really so good and such a morpher. It starts out as plummy leather and changes into sweet non-overwhelming incense a few hours later. I might reapply a couple times today so I can get that plummy leather experience over and over.
Having a very tired day but coffee is helping.
I like that one a lot too! I must get mine out and wear it soon. Sounds like it might fit with some sci-fi story!
I could see that. I was too tired to try to make a CP connection this morning, but I bet it’s possible.
Me three. I know you smell good and I will pull mine out to wear next week!
You will smell good next week when you wear it! (I’m sure you smell good today too. 😉)
I’m wearing Hera today and finding it stunningly beautiful. The first time I tried it, I didn’t even like it! I usually don’t save things to try again, but I do love Papillon so I set this aside. I’m rarely seriously smitten with anything these days , so this is a wonderful surprise!
It’s nice when that happens! I felt the same about Cuir Ottoman, which I’m wearing today.
It really is nice, and so unexpected!
I’m not super familiar with Neil Gaiman but my husband is a fan and I’ve watched a bit of Good Omens, so I’ll make a slight attempt this week. I can really imagine Crowley smelling like tobacco, so I’m wearing Ecrin de Fumee today.
I think you did perfectly!
Wearing sample of MDCI La Ravissante. Not much of a SciFi fan, but I’ll see if I can come up with something later. Shoes on and out the door for a walk in between rain showers.
We’re scent twins today! How are you liking it?
Hi Calypso, I’m really enjoying La Ravissante. At first I just thought, oh very pleasant but nothing to write home about. But as the day wore on, I noticed more complexity. I love the tangy berry over a sweet (but not overly sweet) floral (is that honeysuckle?). And it was light but lasting, that’s hard to find. Verdict: very, very nice.
Not much of a sci-if/fantasy fan here, so I’ll see if I can come up with something by Friday.
I was testing some vintage frags today to see if they were still good to swap/sell, so I’m wafting a melange of scents. For a couple of them, I thought “I should wear this more often,” so this evening I will be in Courrèges Empreinte. So lovely and comforting.
” I should wear this more often” beats ” why the heck did I buy this?”
😄 It sure does!
It’s dark at 5:15pm now.
My thoughts on that: https://youtu.be/UcbXCMvpmWo
I took AnnE’s advice, and am working on trying to get one box a day of my stuff packed. I was in the middle of that task when the doorbell rang. It was someone selling replacement windows and doors again. Those folks have made the rounds thru my neighborhood several times over the years. I was NOT in the mood. Bit the poor guy’s head off.
SOTD = commando, except for Korres Grecian Gardenia body butter on shins and calves. I will truly miss this one when its gone.
I absolutely hate that it’s dark at five
“This sucks!”
Dark isn’t quite that early at the latitude where I live–it’s more like 6 PM right now–but I like the early sunset from late November to early January, when all the Christmas lights are up. You need that background of darkness to see and appreciate the lights, and I am glad I don’t have to wait until 9 PM to enjoy them, as is necessary for the Independence Day firework displays. Of course, once we get into January and everyone yanks the lights down, the dark evenings are just dreary.
It’s going to be dark at 4:30 by the time December rolls around in my area. Not a fan.
I’m in a more Southern latitude, so it never gets dark that early here. The earliest time of sunset we get is around 5:20 PM in late December, with another 25 minutes or so of twilight, so not really dark until about 5:45. What I always HATED about DST is that is made sunrise so late during the first and last few weeks of DST that I had to be at work while it was still technically night outside, as I my start time was 7:30 AM, which was before sunrise at the extreme ends of DST. It really messed with my mind having to wake up, get out of bed, get dressed, make the coffee, pack a lunch, and start driving to work while it is still pitch dark outside.
Same for me
6 pm is definitely better than 4 or 430 darkness
LOL your video. I once cracked up my boss with a B&B imitation – she did not expect it. You and The Move are in my thoughts, and I hope you’ll see progress. =^v^=
Thank you MossyBerry!
Good on having that goal. I wish I was more ambitious …
You are plenty ambitious! I get pooped reading about some of your exploits.
Best of luck with the packing. One box a day sounds like a good steady goal. I think you will naturally step it up when the deadline gets closer!
Thanks tulipani! I have over a month to pack, assuming all goes well. No Whammies!
Thanks for the clip!
Did you know Kip Winger is a classical Composer now? I was reading about him and the career derailment due to Beavis and Butthead.
Ha! That is a bit of a surprise. But nice to hear that he’s still in the music biz.
Good planning on the one box a day; it’s not so overwhelming then.
Exactly!
But now I have to figure out how I am moving all those boxes…
Chanel 1957 earlier..was at a store…two ladies behind me said, “Something smells very good!”. I assumed they were talking about me lol.
Now in Paris-Riviera and I just love it.
I was desperate for some lemon..found a lemon sage lotion by Bliss, which kinda smelled like a dish soap but got it anyway cause I needed something lol.
A friend of mine just texted me..a story was ran in a newspaper about her son’s wrongful death suit/settlement. A sad story to read but I know she has been wanting this published for a while. So, I know this brings some relief to her. :/
I have been trying to clean out some clutter and trying to sell some general stuff..but lol..not really any takers yet. Hopefully, that changes. Lol.
Bright and clear here, lovely November weather as usual for this area 🙂
Of course they were talking about you!
Good luck getting some things sold Omega!
Semi-commando the last few days due to a mild UR/sore throat attack. But with the beautiful weather, in spite of extra sleep-time (courtesy of Nyquil), I had to get some bulb planting and storing, and garden clean-up done. Passing scents of the day include Samsara dry-down on my robe, Royal Secret on my garden work-clothes, and some ambient EL Intuition which I sprayed in the air. I need to catch up on comments, but I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start!
I hope you recover soon!
Hope you feel better soon!
Yuck. Hope that your crud goes away quickly!
Hope you are feeling better soon! Samsara on a robe sounds wonderful.
I need to plant a few bulbs before it gets any colder…good for you for getting your yard stuff done while you’re still recovering!
SOTD = Love, by Kilian, don’t be shy Extreme
Woot woot! In case anyone is wondering, I am participating (since Saturday) taking inspiration from co-creator Neil Gaiman’s Lucifer. You will see red, white and black. My perfume “cabinet” is my oyster 🦪 ❣️

The poke bowl experiment turned out great, with the only casualty being the avocado that was still semi-frozen. So I bought another bowl for tomorrow and will add 2 more ice packs because they will just be there to make the cooler cooler. I will also be adding an iced tea bottle and one seltzer water. I don’t want to drink too much but I don’t want to get dehydrated either. And I may also pack one roll and almond butter in case I get hungry as I’m sure I will. I also have plenty of reading materials when it gets slow which I think it will because it is an off year even though we are electing a mayor.
These are exciting times!
Yay, glad to hear the poke bowl experiment was a success, semi-frozen avocado doesn’t seem too offensive. Good luck tomorrow!!
Good luck tomorrow!
Frozen avocado doesn’t really taste like much of anything.
Good luck tomorrow!
I almost walked off the job today due to the new Miss Bossy Pants coworker. Instead I took a long break and talked to my store manager. He said he will talk to her but idk.. I guess I will see, but I told him I won’t be speaking to her.
Before all that I was in a good mood and wearing Angel’s Share over a new bbw lotion Sunrise Woods.
Ugh. Sorry you had to deal with that on the Monday after a time change.
Thanks Jalapeno.
Oh no! Sorry that you have to deal with that! It’s the worst when newbies come in and think they can change things, and add their 2 cents when you didn’t ever ask for their input. Maybe take a travel spray of one of your strongest fragrances to spray on as a force-field if you see her coming..lol
Glad you said something to the manager.
Vintage Poison is coming out! Lol.
Oh, no! I hope your manager is able to rectify the situation.
I hope so.
Good luck lillyjo!
Thanks Robin.
