We’re celebrating National Peach Month with our usual lazy weekend poll. Do tell us…
1. What fragrance are you wearing today?
2. Your favorite fragrance with a peach note?
3. Your favorite peach body, hair care or home fragrance product?
4. Your favorite way to eat a peach? Share or link to a recipe if you like!
5. Share something wonderful with us! It can be anything — the most fun thing you did so far this summer (or winter), something delicious you ate, your latest binge-worthy TV series, the last good book you read, any fabulous news you recently received — really, anything…

I’m so sorry for your loss! Sending big hugs.
I enjoyed Fève Délicieuse so much last night I’m going for another round.
Don’t know many peach scents but I have enjoyed Keiko Mecheri Peau de Pêche, and the adjacent CSP Vanille Abricot.
Favorite peach dish is pie. 🙂 Which reminds me, I need to make one soon. But I will not buy fruit or vegetables from my nearest grocery store again, the prices gave me a panic attack today when I was in there.
This has been a very lovely summer, not too hot, lots of nice rain so everything is lush and green, and a couple of very nice camping trips. All in all it’s been a good year so far, way way better than the past three.
Yay for camping!! Mr Marzipan has done a few camping trips this summer. He invited me but I chose to stay home because of the three feline grandchildren
We took Mila with us. She’s a pretty good camper although her hiking abilities could be better. Mommy ended up carrying her in the doggy backpack most of the time. 😉
Awww!! You are a good mama!!
You have really earned a great summer!
Thank you, I am so happy. 🙂
You had a tough time these past few years, but I’m glad your Summer has been awesome.
Yes to CSP Vanille Abricot!👏🏻👏🏻🤗🌹
Thank you!
So glad to hear it is a much better year. Hope it will stay that way!
I am fervently hoping it does.
Glad to hear that you have had a much smoother year in 2023.
Maja EDT is my SOTD
Good news? Eldest graduates this month! She finishes her masters degree for NP.
Congratulations!
Thank you!!!
That is great news. Congratulations!
Thank you Kris!
Congratulations!
A Masters! Time goes so fast.
Time is freaking flying lillyjo!! I feel so old lol
Yay!! Congrats to her!
Thanks , c!! I’m glad she’s finally done!!
Congratulations to your daughter!
Thanks!!
You smell lovely, and congratulations to your daughter!
Thank you!!
Nice!
Yes indeed!!
Congrats to your daughter!
Thanks She-ra!
What an accomplishment!
Wasn’t easy but it’s done!!!
Adding my congratulations to the rest.
Thank you!!
Congratulations!! That’s such a huge achievement. You must be very proud!
I’m extraordinarily proud because she also worked as a travel nurse during all of it! Not easy!
Congrats to your daughter!
Thank you Sapphire!
Woot woot! That’s awesome! I feel like it was just yesterday when she got her nursing degree. Does she know what area she wants to specialize in? I’ve toyed with the idea of getting my np.🤓
Time flies so fast, right? She got her nursing degree four years ago!! You have to chose your specialty when you apply and she chose family NP. My middle one, who’s been a nurse for over a year now is also toying with the idea of getting her NP. I hope you consider it!!!
Big congrats!
Thanks apsara!
Congratulations to the eldest mini-Marzipan! She’s not such a mini now, is she?
What a great accomplishment for her (and all the Marzipans!)!! You smell wonderful, if I remember correctly: once, I got a vintage mini, opened and tried it, and then set it aside. When I came back to it a month or so later, it had evaporated!! I’ve had this happen twice with vintage bottles that have the cork cap liner.
Logging on to share a PSA. I just got an email from Imaginary Authors that they are issuing a Fox in the Flowerbed soap. I immediately put three in my cart, and then remembered that some of you had recs for their perfumes. I have tried several, but now forget which. The ones that were mentioned in a previous exchange as favorites (other than Fox) I have not tried. So, long-winded, but please share your favorite or fbw Imaginary Authors suggestions. Whew!
I was in a peach jag a couple years ago. My fave was Good Girl Gone Bad, but now I see peach isn’t even listed as a note. Probably the osmanthus–but it was a peach perfume to me.
I love peaches most ways! We often grill them, and serve them with a creamy vanilla ice cream.
I’m all about rose these days with my perfumes. Yesterday I wore Mizensir’s Epine de Rose. Today I am doing a perfume comparison btw YSL’s Paris and TF’s Rose Prick.
Paris wins??
Probably, but I do love the dry down of Rose Prick.
Rose Prick is indeed beautiful. But Paris is a classic
It’s the opposite for me. I like the opening but not the dry down.
Oh interesting. I have a decant of Rose Prick but have not been tempted to buy a fb (also cuz of the price!) because it takes about 20 minutes before I really enjoy it. I have the same problem with Bitter Peach, but even more extreme. I do not like it at all when I apply it–and only hours later wonder what is the pretty scent I’m smelling.
I love the dry down of RP as well.
Oooh…I hadn’t opened that email yet, but…Fox in the Flowerbed soap!!! Sign me up.
I like IA O, Unknown — I don’t buy FBs of really anything anymore, but I have a travel size of that scent and am about out. I’ll likely get another. It’s my go-to black tea scent. I believe Memoirs of a Trespasser often gets mentioned here — I got a sample last fall and need to come back to it in cooler weather. The great thing about IA is that they have those travel sizes — I can’t say how much I appreciate them for that. (These days I have to be REALLY bowled over to fork over $150+ for a large bottle of anything.)
Panicked they’d run out and put through my order for three bars 🙂 I think I have samples of both of those. Will revisit!
Memoirs is my favorite IA, with Fox a close second.
Thank you for the PSA, you enabler you😊
Yep, enabler pin! Those soaps are MINE!
Evil witchy cackle from me. . . . whaaahaaahaaaa. . .
I love Fox, Cape Heartache, Yesterday’s Haze, O Unknown, Memoirs and Whiff of Waffle Cone best.
Just a warning on the candles – I found them super strong, especially Cape Heartache. I can only burn them near an open window, the throw is nuclear.
Oooooh I love nuclear candles! I already put in my order, but I’m going to bear that in mind. Have you tried the Fox candle? I was tempted but I get so disappointed when I get too faint a scent off a candle.
I have the Fox candle as well and like it the best of the ones I tried. Good throw but not headache-inducing.
Fox soap sounds so good, IA is one of my favorite houses. Memoirs is my favorite; I also love Fox, Yesterday Haze, Slow Explosions and Waffle Cone. I would have a bottle of St Julep but it is so fleeting. The rest have excellent staying power.
1. Not sure yet what I’ll wear; we’re on a long-weekend trip while the teen is at camp and we’re going wine tasting for the next two days. So I’ll probably keep it low-key, whatever I wear.
2. Pretty sure I don’t have anything with a primary peach note. But I’ll go with Jil Sander No. 4 since there’s a peach note blended in there and I bought a FB when we passed through Germany this summer. (I got a randomly gifted sample of Goldfield & Banks Sunset Hour in my last sample order, which has “Desert Peach”, but the jury’s still out on that one.)
3. Tonymoly I’m Peach hand mask. Brought that one along to use on this trip! And, not a beauty product, but my favourite peach thing of all time is this limited edition gummy we got in the summer when we last lived in Germany — Trolli brains, but they were peach flavoured for whatever reason and amazing and I’ve never seen them again. (Not actually a peach, so not including it in the next answer…)
4. My favourite way to eat a peach is just plain, at peak ripeness, over a sink while the juice runs down my chin. There’s no better way. (My grandpa owned a farm market while I was growing up, so I indulged this OFTEN. 🙂 )
I’m with you on no 4!! And I had no idea that the Jill Sanders had a peach note. I thunked my bottle a few years ago
It’s not overwhelming — to the point where I had to go check Fragrantica because I thought I’d seen the peach note listed but my nose doesn’t really pick it out of the blend. I’m on bottle #2 of it, but then I thunked bottle #1 sometime in the early ’90s.
It’s a gorgeous fragrance!!! If I didn’t have so many other bottles I probably would have bought another one
That is also my favorite way to eat a peach!
Apparently my arsenal contains several scents with a peach note, but the one in which I most notice it is Jil Sander No. 4. It was my daily fragrance for about ten years and I still love it but find it a bit much nowadays. Anyway, my poll answers:
1. SOTD is Mojave Ghost. Wore it yesterday and got an in-the-wild compliment from a stranger. The compliment may or may not have been genuine — see #5 below. 😆
2. My favorite perfume with a peach note is a tie between Cristalle and 24 Faubourg. Don’t make me choose!
3. I don’t currently have any home or bath products with a peach note. Seems like I used to have some loose-leaf tea with peach, but can’t quite bring it to mind … or it may actually have been apricot.
4. Straight off the tree, preferably over the kitchen sink. Yum.
5. I bought a new car yesterday! I’ve been driving a small SUV (that drives like a truck) for several years, and have been pining to get back to a sedan/coupe style vehicle for most of that time. We finally stumbled across a great deal on a car that’s not only small enough for me but also has the pep and creature comforts that spoiled little me has come to rely on. (The sales guy was the stranger who complimented Mojave Ghost, and it’s possible he was just hoping to make a sale. 😜)
Wait what? Cristalle and 24 Faubourg have peach???
Cristalle EDP — I should probably have clarified that. Fragrantica also says Le Dix has a peach note — who knew?
Oh my gosh really? I wore Le Dix back in the day
I wear it fairly often — can’t say that I have ever noticed peach in it. Maybe peach skin though?
Congrats on the new set of wheels!
Thanks! I’m wearing Paracelsus today to celebrate — thanks again for the rec on that one!
You’re welcome!
Fresh, ripe peaches are a summertime delight, though I’ve yet to find a fragrance that features a peach facet I absolutely love. Probably the closest is Fracas.
Enjoy cobbler, though I’ve had zero interest in turning on the oven this summer. Like ockeghem, fave way to consume peaches is over the sink.
Back to trying my Paris-Venise sample.
I don’t have a peach fragrance anymore, but there used to be a few I loved…and of course now I can barely remember what they were 🙂
Have had my oven on several times this weekend and can confirm it is a mistake 🙂
1. I’m in ELdO Je Suis Un Homme, which is a bright citrus cologne poured over a black leather jacket. It’s terrific stuff, one of the most approachable scents in their entire line, so of course they discontinued it.
2. You’d think I’d say Mitsouko, wouldn’t you? But no, it’s actually the cheerful CSP Vanille Peach, an intriguingly sharp version of their Vanille Abricot, just delightful, so of course they discontinued it.
4. I learned early that peaches that make it this far northeast are invariably hard and flavourless, so I don’t eat them. Peaches just don’t travel well. Mostly what I know of peaches is the canned variety.
5. Two things. First, Thursday was our 36th anniversary, which means that, against all odds, someone has lived with me for 36 years without pushing me down a flight of stairs. Getting to our 50th is not out of the realm of possibility. And second, I haven’t knitted in a year (arthritic thumbs — I took up quilting, much easier on the hands), but I became obsessed with making a pair of Norwegian Selbu gloves, so I ordered some gorgeous wool-alpaca yarn, which arrived yesterday, and got about ten rows into the first cuff today. So far so good!
50th is definitely not out of bounds. My parents just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June!!!!
Mitsouko. Golly forgot all about that one. Def a favorite. I have the parfum, so I save my Mitsy for special occasions. But tonight I am heading to double birthday party–two friends are turning the big sixty, or as I have written in my prepared remarks, sexy. I’ll pull out the Guerlain for that!
Happy anniversary to you and yours! ❤️
Happy Anniversary!
Happy anniversary! Reminds me of Gore Vidal’s mother who sarcastically remarked that his was the only successful marriage in the family. 😉
Happy anniverary, what an achievement.
Happy anniversary!
And I share your athritic thumbs, I gave up knitting a long time ago.
Happy Anniversary!
Congrats on your anniversary!
Yes to 36,and bring on 50!💃🕺
Happy anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!🥂
Congrats on your anniversary and wishing you many more! 🥂
Belated Happy Anniversary wishes! I hope that you do make it to your 50th.
Just a reminder: you didn’t push them down the stairs either!
It is a huge accomplishment, congrats.
Doing a sniff-off this morning between Arquiste Boutonniere and Malle Eau de Magnolia, my two white flowers. At the moment the Malle is winning, but Arquiste is likely to pull ahead in another hour or so.
Don’t know whether it’s exactly my favourite way to eat a peach, but the most common way is also standing over a sink. Did have a peach scone yesterday and it was tasty, and less messy.
Recent series: Cunk on Earth. It made me smile, if not hurting my ribs with laughing.
I just watched the trailer. Hilarious!
Peach scones are delish, my favorite local bakery in San Diego makes good ones.
Omg, we LOVED Cunk on Earth! We would rewind parts she is so hilarious. I was literally the crying laughing emoji. How she could keep a straight face in those interviews is beyond me.
Cunk on Earth made me smile too 🙂
Every year I always say the same thing about peaches. When I lived in Greece, you took your peach to the beach! stand in the water and let the giant peach and all its’ juicy goodness get all over you. Then just dunk down.
It was perfection.
Commando thus far. I need to do some fragrance reorganization.
Am watching Deadloch on Amazon Prime and started Demon Copperhead in the car.
Enabler pin to you for mentioning the peachy Ceremonia Perfume de la Tierra. It’s such a good summer fragrance. Thank you!
I will wear it proudly! I am so glad you like it!
1. Commando still. Too hot for perfume.
2. Mitsouko
3. None
4. Grandma’s open-faced peach pie, impossible to beat.

Your pie looks delicious!
Love peach pie
What a wonderful pie.
Wow!! Looks delicious !
I drooled a little bit looking at those pie pictures. 😋
1. Commando at the moment
2. I’m sure some of my faves must have peach, but nothing that hits you over the head and screams “Peach!”
3. Not really a fan of fake peach scents.
4. Not a fan of peaches, although I love the taste of them. It’s the skin. It’s a texture thing with me. All I can think about is all microbes living on the fuzzy skin. I always choose nectarines 🤷🏻♀️
5. I’ve put a deposit down on a bucket list trip. It’s next fall and it’s my reward for (hopefully) reaching a personal goal. I’m already thinking about what to pack! Also, I had a lovely patient last night. These folks have become as rare as unicorn teeth and when I am blessed with one, I need to shout it from the rooftops.
So glad about the trip, so exciting.
It is, at least for this midwestern gal born basically in the middle of a cornfield! 🌽
Yay for a lovely patient and your bucket list trip.
Oh, interesting to know where you grew up. I’m sure you’ve mentioned it before but my poor brain just can’t keep track. I will be headed to the SW of France. I’ll be on a tour but we have several free afternoons, so if you’re familiar with the area at all, I’d love to hear about anything you think is a “don’t miss.” Or perfume shopping of course! I think I’ll probably hit the duty free hard…😅
Hi Deva, oh wonderful that you’re going, SW France is a large area, I am mostly familiar with the French Basque country coast where I spent childhood holidays, Hendaye and St Jean de Luz (both pretty and historical) and the larger and posh Biarritz, beautiful sand beaches everywhere, it was before being a perfumista but guess you could find lots of nice perfume shops in Biarritz and in the larger cities Bordeaux and Toulouse.
I looked those areas up on the map and that’s just down the street from where I’ll be- Bordeaux and the Périgord. 😀
I used to live in Bordeaux, many years ago. You’ll love it!
Lovely patients are always a blessing.
I’m no good with bedside nursing that’s why the OR has always called my name!
And yes to bucket-list trips,I’m also working on that!
Oh, where to if you don’t mind sharing?! Wherever it is, I hope it happens soon. You deserve a bucket list item for sure!
Don’t laugh…one of the places I want to visit is inspired by a Marc Almond song…”She took my soul in Instanbul”…yup,Turkey!I got serious FOMO when a friend went recently, what a gorgeous gorgeous country.
No laughing coming from me, just envy! I hope you can make it happen soon. It’s always good to have something special to look forward to in order to get through the days that just grind.
You will love it! I’ve traveled a fair amount and Istanbul is one of my most favorite places I’ve ever been.
I LOVE Istanbul! I’m sure you will too! Fantastic sites, history, food, shopping… I want to go back!
You did it!! Oh my gosh, I am so excited for you!🤩 and of course look forward to living vicariously through your Instagram.
Yes, was very tempted to go this year, but common sense won out and I booked for next year. Maybe the air transportation system in this country will have improved by then..🙃
I second your number four 👍and envy your number five, you will love France ❤️!
Hooray for putting a deposit down on that trip!! So glad to hear you did that.
Yay for the nice patient, and yay for knocking something off the bucket list. You must be excited.
Hooray! SW France is one area of that country I haven’t been to… yet.
My favourite peach of all time is a NZ heirloom variety called the Black Boy. I don’t know of any other country that has it, especially with that unfortunate name, but it was introduced and bred from a French variety of vineyard peach back in the 1800s, a sanguine ( blood) peach and harvests here in February. It has a dark aubergine-coloured, very thick and furry skin, and purple flesh. It is beautiful bottled ( preserved) or stewed or in a pie. If you eat it with custard or ice cream it turns everything swirly purple. They were very common when I was a kid but I don’t see them much now…old orchards would have them.
Wearing Bengale Rouge, nice ( from Gaynor)
https://thisnzlife.co.nz/tried-tested-blackboy-peach-bottling-recipe/
Thanks for the pictures. It sounds unique and delicious!
Wow, that peach variety sounds lovely! You smell great too.
I love French vineyard peaches, I was brought up in France, there too I don’t see them often nowadays.
I have a nice book by the chef Raymond Blanc called The Lost Orchard about his heritage fruit orchard and he mentions the sanguine vineuse which sounds like my peach. It was planted in vineyards as it was the first plant to show signs of powdery mildew, so if the wine growers saw the mildew on the peach they could act before the grapes got infected.
Thank you Kanuka, interesting about the mildew.
I’d forgotten about Black Boy peaches, I’ve only rarely seen them.
Would love to taste some of those peaches.
Those canned peaches look like plums. What an amazing color!
Even the inside of the ripe peach looks like a plum! So cool Kanuka.
Again, sssshhhh, because …
SOTD = Diptyque Kyoto
Red bottle! And incense!

(As I feared, my Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa post got pulled. I asked for a review but there is place to “justify” the review. Also, just like the bay of e, IG’s rules will be opaque, so there’s that.)
Amex never called so I called them. Unmedicated, i.e., no alcohol, I made sure to stay calm, cool and collected. I got through the call in 12 minutes.
I have nothing to share on peaches 🍑 other than I love me a good ripe peach slightly bigger than my clenched fist. All the ones I ever see in NJ are small and rock hard. The nicest peaches I’ve seen is only if I order from Harry & David’s at extortionist prices.
Also, so far, I have not seen anyone extolling the praises of Tom Ford Bitter Peach so perhaps my opinion of it is not as far off as those of the ones here. Only one person here seems to like it but I could be wrong.
I think this is my favorite red bottle from your posted collection. I hope that IG quits messing with you.
You never know. Opaque is good for perfume bottles (an opinion) but not so good when it becomes inscrutable when dealing with companies.
Hey, scent twinning with you today!
I’m also not a big fan of Bitter Peach, but I only sniffed it on a blotter. The new L’Artisan peach is not bad though, worth a sniff if you come across it.
Woohoo on the twinning! I will try the L’AP Peach when I encounter it.
I was laughing so loud at your definition of unmedicated ! The red bottle is gorgeous! You need to get a bottle of Escada Un Ete En Provence!
Did you have a drink *after* the call to AMEX?
Peaches! A perfectly ripe peach is one of nature’s miracles. I’ve got only 6 months to wait for peaches here.
Meanwhile, I have busy Sunday. Supermarket shopping is first, followed by a visit to the great nephews and rapidly growing little great niece, then more fabric shopping.
My favourite local fabric shop gets in a lot of designer deadstock (they have been doing that for decades before it was ever called that). The owner showed me the whole vanload that he’d just brought down from Auckland, and he invited me to come back today for an advance shopping opportunity before it goes on display in a few weeks. Very excitiing! I’ve become a special customer after spending vast amounts on fabric from the same designer last year 🙂
I think I’ll accompany all this Rivalité Impériale from Plume Impression, it’s more dried fruit than fresh, which I think I prefer.
Enjoy the fabric shopping. Hope you find something special.
Oh my, a fabric binge! I just did a smallish one myself — there’s an American business that sells Liberty fabrics online and last weekend was their remnant sale — Tana Lawn for half-price! I’m trying to re-engage with the sewing and other needlework I used to do. Enjoy your fabric! What will you sew?
1. I Profumi Di Firenze Vaniglia del Madagascar
2. A tie between Jean Patou Que sais-je and Robert Piguet Visa
3. Original Source peach apricot shower gel
4. Apart from the peaches of my childhood I have been enjoying the flat white peaches from Spain I find in the UK
5. I listened to a very good podcast on Simone de Beauvoir
What was the podcast called, please. It sounds interesting.
I should have mentioned it’s on French radio, but just in case you understand French, it’s the Radio France website, the programme is Face à l’histoire, the title is Simone de Beauvoir, un voyage en bourgeoisie, itinéraire d’une jeune fille rangée.
Thank you. I will see if I can follow it.
1. Commando, feeling perfume-lazy lately.
2. Love peach as a perfume note. But I have no idea which perfume would be my favorite peach perfume. (Not Mitsouko, sorry) Maybe Rouge Bunny Rouge Lilt, for its pitch-perfect open.
3. N/A, for no rational reason, I don’t like a lot of scent in hair or body products, and don’t use home fragrances at all.
4. Hmm. Honestly I don’t eat peaches all that often. I just like the smell 🙂
5. Juuuuust finishing up reading the latest Sparks & Bainbridge mystery. Currently binging Star Trek Discovery, racing to get thru it before Netflix kills off their DVD program (sniff). Also binging women’s World Cup soccer. And just this morning, heard from a friend I haven’t seen in years and years; he will be visiting our area in a few weeks and wants to get together, yay!
Oooooooh, I hope that you will be able to meet up with your friend!
I’m wearing Desarmant today. I woke up at 3 am and couldn’t go back to sleep, so today’s schedule is all wonky since I took a nap late this morning.
I have had some good peaches this summer, mostly ripened on the kitchen counter because they were hard when I bought them. I like TF Bitter Peach as a peach scent mostly because it’s not a sweet peach. I don’t really like any other peach scents, and don’t use many home scents (my Fraser Fir candle at Christmas time excepted).
I finished the new Sparks and Bainbridge book too and now I’m reading about bears. Also I’m up to #12 of Aubrey/Maturin.
I like Bitter Peach too, though it’s not top of my list and I’m quite happy with my decant, thank you. TF prices for FBs really are silly.
Happy weekend!
It’s a chilly one this side and I’m still slightly under the weather.
SOTD Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere,it’s perfect for when you want No.5,but just “a little bit”,if you know what I mean?
Favorite peachy fragrance is of course Mitsouko, also my fresh bottle of Iris de Fath edp.
Peach cobbler is always a winner.I’m also obsessed with a local brand -Ina Paarman- peach and apricot chutney. It’s got a little bite and goes excellent with lamb or smoked ham.Yum yum yum yum yuuuuuummmmm…..
XO’s!🌹
Hope you’re feeling better asap! Send the cool weather this way. I’ll welcome it with wide open arms..!
I’m sending,I’m sending!!PLEASE take it!
NO RETURN TO SENDER….😉🕺✌🏻
Ooh, tell us more about the Iris de Fath edp! That might go on my birthday wishlist.
The Legendary Iris Gris from Fath that Luca Turin raved about has been reconstructed and re-issued by Jacques Fath.2018 was the release of the extrait, because of covid the release of the edp was delayed until this year….the backstory.
It’s a lovely perfume.Peachy iris chypre. It feels very vintage but also modern. Many reviewers who have smelled-compared to the vintage says it’s as close to the original scent profile as you can get.Comes in 30ml,quite pricey but of course I had to have it!
My verdict:it’s good, but for me it’s not Holy Grail good.If you can imagine Mitsouko with a prominent iris note and dialled up florals, you have L’Iris de Fath.
Let me know if you do sniff it!
✌🏻🌹🤗
I have a bottle too and it’s beautiful but because of the price, I’m going to do some 5ml splits at the next splitmeet😊
1) Le Sillage Blanc. I am not a fan. I put it on today thinking I was gonna get some kind of white floral (because Blanc), but it was anything but. Looked up the notes on Fragrantica and I was flummoxed. I don’t know why they put white in the name if it’s a woody greeny leathery chypre. Rant over.
2) So far I dig Dreaming by Tommy Hilfiger.
3) None. Or just haven’t come across any yet.
4) I used to eat canned peaches when I was younger. Haven’t in a long while.
I am just finishing up Unstable, with Rob Lowe and his son John Owen. Cute little series.
We used to love canned peaches on vanilla ice cream…have not had that in YEARS.
And thank you, had not heard of Unstable and it looks worth a try!
Wearing Yosh Ginger Ciao.
The only perfume with peach that I’ve liked was Badgely Mischka, which I swapped away years ago and have regretted ever since. No other peach scented products. My favorite peaches are Michigan Red Haven, eaten over the kitchen sink as many have described.
My good news is that I have a prolific poblono pepper plant. I randomly bought it and stuck it in a bucket with some other plants and it has really taken off with no care at all. The peppers are delicious.
I love Ginger Ciao. Your post makes me think I must get mine out of the drawer and wear it today, or soon.
Nice about your pepper plant producing! I like poblanos as they are good for stuffing and have just a moderate amount of heat. I’m a wimp with the hotter peppers.
My favorite way to eat them is stuffed with shredded chicken and Monterey jack cheese. You’re right, just enough heat.
Poblanos are wonderful as part of “chili fixins” or in Sloppy Joes!
😋
1. What fragrance are you wearing today?
No fragrance today as I was working in my garden and the bugs are TERRIBLE! Eau de bug repellent was my SOTD>
2. Your favorite fragrance with a peach note?
Dior’s Dolce Vita. Just lovely. I don’t wear it often.
3. Your favorite peach body, hair care or home fragrance product?
I don’t have one, but I should!
4. Your favorite way to eat a peach? Share or link to a recipe if you like!
I love a good peach cobbler, which is very common here in the Southeastern US, but I also love peaches that are halved, pitted, and just grilled. Yum!
5. Something fun/wonderful
This past Monday was my last day in my workplace!! My official retirement date is the end of August, but my last regular work day was Monday. TBH, it’s a relief. I’ve spent almost two decades in a high-stress job working with students, and the challenges have gotten more and more … challenging. I’ve loved helping them, but I’m relieved that 1) a misstep of mine never went “viral”; and 2) I don’t have to worry about my physical safety any more, at least not in my workplace. And, added bonus, I don’t have to endure the constant workplace politics, which I’ve described to others as “workplace musical chairs.”
So this week was the first week of my next phase! I have many interests and plans!
Congratulations on your retirement. Mine is just glorious. No meetings, no workplace politics, no stupid training seminars…just doing the things I love. The days fly by!
Jealous, I am.
At 70,
I have one foot in and one foot out. I’m sure it has a lot to do with the cost of living here in California and liking long safaris.
I hope to be able to find a project starting in the new year that’s only two days a week.
By the time my sister and I pick a spot to live together, I could be shuffling off this mortal coil!
I hope to never listen to wacko meetings again.
I didn’t realize Dolce Vita has peach. Love that one!
Happy last day! I hope the rest of the month passes smoothly so you can launch into retirement with energy and joy
Congratulations on your retirement!🎉
Adding my congrats! Won’t it be wonderful to live your life on your own terms?! 😍
Congratulations on your retirement! Enjoy the wonderful days ahead!
Congratulations on your retirement! I will issue a small warning: It took me about two years to settle into mine. I don’t mean to scare you, and mine was worsened by (a) surgery and (b) Covid. However, others have told me the same thing. After a lifetime of working and the regularity of schedules, it is disorienting to have no more duties or responsibilities. I felt kind of free-floating. Perhaps you’ll have ways to occupy yourself more than I did. I think in a way it just takes time to make oneself relax into it.
I can see how that happens! I think my biggest challenge will be to avoid filling up all my now-free time with volunteer work and such. I’ve always done a lot of that pre-COVID. I want to relax into retirement, as you say, without taking on a whole new load of obligations. I took a class this summer, and that was a nice way to have some structure while pursuing a personal interest. It will be an interesting transition, I’m sure.
Congratulations! The closer I get to retirement, the less I think I will miss my work.
Happy retirement! Enjoy every moment following your interests and plans. I’ve been retired awhile and my life since then has been very full; I sometimes wonder how I had time to work!
Congratulations of your retirement!
Ack! That should be “on your retirement”. Spellcheck failed me!
Congrats on your retirement!
Thanks for all the kind comments and advice! What a nice community this is.
Congratulations on your retirement! I feel you on worrying about your safety; it can be a hazard for me too since I work with the public.
Spent the day in Deneuve and now I am on my 2nd vacation of the year. We should do a CP of no 19 since it Coco Chanel’s birthday coming up.
2. The 2 peach perfumes I have are Mitsouko and the original Hedonist.
3. I don’t have a favorite peach product but I am kicking myself for not stocking up on Bath and Body Works Market Peach candles when I had the chance a few years ago.
4. Not a huge peach eater.
5. I am still trying to find some new TV shows to watch. Netflix used to have a show on there called Halt and Catch Fire but they pulled it. Watched the 1st episode and liked it. Can’t spring for another subscription right now to watch 1 series.
Halt and Catch Fire is excellent.
I am wearing Nuxe oil today.
My favourite peach perfume is Voskanian Pêche Cypree.
My favourite peach body product is le petit marseillais pêche shower gel.
I love peaches but unfortunately I am allergic so I can’t eat.
Oh my, that’s a shame about your peach allergy. I wonder what is in them that bothers you. The peach perfume you mention sounds intriguing.
SOTD is Shalimar Millesime Tonka. Perfect for watching the Barbie movie on a (finally) rainy day.
Favorite scent with peach is a tie between Tresor and Dior Dolce Vita (thanks for the reminder, OH!). Might like Bitter Peach, but only smelled it once on a blotter.
I don’t have a peach body product I can think of.
Love a ripe, locally grown peach best of all.
Some beloved black sandals completely fell apart today, so had to go sandal shopping (not such a bad thing). A patient of mine had told me to try Doc Martens sandals. So comfy! I have a couple of pairs ordered to choose from.
Hope you loved the movie! I’m amazed a Barbie movie turns out to be such a hit, who knew?
Wow. Is this a coincidence for me? I just stumbled across this article from nowsmellthis (that I wasn’t expecting. Peach is my favorite fruit. Favorite of all time. I go to our local supermarket/grocery store almost daily as we live so close by. Every time, I mean every single time I am in the produce section selecting my peaches. I eat a peach daily – it’s a must for me. On the other note I have been collecting Creed pretty intensely the last few months. I bought more Creed stuff in the last 3 months than I have of any brand ever in my life. One of my latest purchases was an original 10ml bottle of Wind Flowers. I bought many, many, many decants of different Creed fragrance (I want to smell like all of the beautiful Creeds but cannot always afford a full bottle every time). But anyways the manufacturer 10ml travel spray of Wind Flowers just arrived on Friday… I have been completely shocked how long this fragrance lasts. Not only is it beautiful and really, really like the highest end of niche perfume – maybe the best of Creed – it lasts ohhh well it has never gone away from my clothes (and sometimes skin!!) until I shower so I don’t even know how long it lasts other than forever!!
1. Wind Flowers by Creed. I have been wearing it all weekend and I today too – that’s before I saw this poll!!
2. Wind Flowers by Creed.
3. Have not yet found anything for the bath/house in peach scent.
4. I have real wonderful bosses at work – they bought my company while I was a worker for it a few months ago. Ever since they are so understanding that I am raising my 4 year old by myself…
That’s wonderful about your bosses! More should be like that. I haven’t tried Wind Flowers but now I want to.
Yes my bosses (the man and His wife) are just the best. I never worked in such a “familial” environment before. Honestly, I expected a product at least of a Love in White (which is often my every day perfume, true love and very sentimental) or spring flower quality but it is just beyond even my favorite Creeds as far as quality and such. I own two real full bottles of Shalini (Jardin Nocturne and Amorem Rose) I mean I have smelled some of the more expensive perfumes. I am just totally blown away by the true, very expensive smelling quality of the Wind Flowers and it lasts just forever – I never had a chance to even have it fade yet because it was another shower time. Someone compared it to Coco Mademoiselle – come on there is just no comparison for me at all.
I just ordered another beautiful 10ml atomizer of Wind Flowers as I’m running through the first one quicker than desired even though it lasts forever. But I just thought about it – I also bought a Creed leather wallet and it has samples in it. If You would like I would be happy to send You a brand new Wind Flowers sample, Calypso, from that wallet. The wallet is waiting for me at the post office and will be picked up tomorrow by me..if You are interested to try Wind Flowers I will be very happy to part with a sample of it for You. It’s getting blistering here. 😭
Headed for the shower but still leaving a gentle trail of Corsica Furiosa. Last night I spritzed 3 times which is usually my max. But the hotter it gets, the more I spritz. I might have overdone it because I was in a small room with a lot of staff for pre-shift huddle when someone says, quite loudly-
“It reeks in here! Someone’s eating too many vegetables.”
I kid you not! I played dumb and just shook my head in a very disappointed and disgusted fashion. 🤣
Omg I am dying!🤣🤣🤣
I’m on break right now and really needed this laugh!
Happy to oblige! It’s so funny what comes out of a persons mouth. It was a zinger of a night, because as the charge rounded to get report on the tail end of the shift, he said to another RN:“You must have a rough night! What happened to your hair? It looks all frizzy?!” She did NOT appreciate his commentary. Omg! People just amaze me! 🤣
Wow. *Someone* doesn’t have a filter!
Eating too many vegetables! Thank you for the laugh, that’s excellent.
Peach weekend – so sorry I am behind on comments. Peaches are just ahead of cherries as my favorite fruit. I grew up in Georgia, have grown peaches in my Indiana front yard, and even, if I may mention it, was Reserve Champion at our county fair one year for my peaches. *Blush* but I want to share the lasting happiness that gave me. And, also encourage small-yard gardeners to enter your pretty things in your local 4-H County fair (it’s not just for young adults, and you can learn a lot about gardening)!! I love a peach note in perfume: today is Champagne. I also got out Sun Moon Stars. I’ll probably continue next week with other peachy favorites like Tuscany per Donna. I’ll catch up on comments later.
Congratulations on your winning peach! I just ordered a new bottle of Sun Moon Stars, haven’t had one in many years but I heard the current version is quite good.
Tuscany per Donna was so beautiful back in the day.
I discovered it while thrifting – the pretty bottle caught my eye and I took a chance. It was swooon at first sniff. Naturally, I then lurked on Ebay till I found a deal on a back-up. Ok, maybe two back-ups…
It came out when I was a college student, so most of my funds went to tuition, books, and rent. Every so often I could afford a pizza.
Perfume was not on the radar, nor the budget.
Yesterday I did “sample Saturday” with Delina. Pleasant rose, maybe not full bottle worthy. Commando today.
Sunset Hour by Goldfield and Banks has a peach note in it, to me. I also just got a sample of Gossip Night, still haven’t tried it out, supposed to be a gourmand peach.
I don’t have any peach bath or body products.
My favorite way to eat peaches is fresh. I find the smaller ones taste better. It is hit or miss at the grocery store lately.
My father, a fanatic home gardener, had peach trees. This was a tenuous crop in New England, since a late freeze could kill all the fruit. But when he had a good year, they were wonderful. Dad would fill bags with peaches, leave them in a box on the side of the road with a sign with the price, “peaches $3”. People would stop, take a bag, leave their money. No one ever stole peaches or the money, though sometimes someone would leave an “IOU” note and come by with money later. (My father said he would give peaches away but he found if he wrote “free peaches” people wouldn’t take them.) After my father died, my mother could not keep up with the trees so the peaches were no more and we found out that dad was “the peach man” to the area.
Frightfully hot here in South Texas, been 100 or so for weeks with no end or rain in sight. Husband is watering a few trees each day, hoping they live through the summer. Our grass in the back dies back every summer since we don’t water except just near the house but I am noticing the native plants are now dying, I found a dead prickly pear cactus last week, amongst the casualties.
Wow. You know it’s bad when a prickly pear goes belly up.
What a great story about your dad — the peach man! I love it.
Enjoying a very cool and cloudy day today, a wonderful respite from the heat of summer. It actually feels like early fall!
Poll questions:
1. SOTD is Wood Sage & Sea Salt, the last of a sample I had and great for today’s weather. Didn’t realize Christine Nagel is the perfumer for this one as well as yesterday’s favorite EDM Bleue.
2. Favorite scent with a peach note is vintage Tresor.
3. Favorite body product with a peach note is the original Caress Daily Silk shower gel.
4. Like Deva, I’m not fond of peaches but I love a fresh, juicy nectarine in summer.
5. Something wonderful: my almost-sweet-sixteen granddaughter recently spent the day with us at our town’s summerfest. Mr. Laila wanted to see the new Mission Impossible film so we stuck that in, too, and after a day spent meeting some of my friends at the fest and music that I think appealed more to Boomers (but with good food and time to visit in between everything else going on) I told her how much I enjoyed our visit and added, ‘I hope we didn’t bore you too much,’ and she responded most sincerely, ‘Oh, grandma, you could never bore me!’ ❤️
It feels like early fall here in Québec too, we’ve had very nice weather. I noticed some leaves starting to change already.
sotd = Jour d’Hermes EdP
Chopard Casmir is my holy Grail peach perfume. 🍑 I could never wear it, but I was stunned into stillness the first time I smelled it while walking into a Macy’s. 😍
So gorgeous, and I love to smell it on other people, what a scent trail!
That first encounter with Casmir was a long time ago, maybe I could wear it now if a vintage bottle fell from the sky. ☁️🌞
I adore fresh peach slices on top of plain vanilla yogurt. Tastes like summer.
Fun thing – I went for a walk this morning and chatted with a neighbor. She handed me a copy of Document magazine she thought I would like to read. She doesn’t know I have a perfume obsession, so it was lovely to find an interview with Frederic Malle and Simon Doonan inside.
Here’s a link 😊
https://www.documentjournal.com/2021/09/frederic-malle-and-simon-doonan-consider-the-seductive-allure-of-vulgarity/
Fun link, thank you! My favorite:
Frédéric: I am not against people wearing whole crates of perfume.
That really made me laugh!
1. Commando again today. It’s been a very emotional weekend for me.
2. Favorite perfumes with a peach note? Mitsouko, vintage Tresor, and vintage Casmir. I have a mini of the second one, and a full bottle of the third.
3. No favorite for peach body, hair care, or home products.
4. Best way to eat a peach? Get a perfectly ripe Palisades peach in Colorado, and eat it while standing over my brother’s kitchen sink.
5. Something wonderful? I saw someone dear to me for the first time in 6 years yesterday. I wasn’t sure if I would ever see this person again. Even though I will be moving far away from her, I will always consider her a friend.
Where are you moving to? Glad you got to see your friend again.
Colorado. Hopefully I can find a place I will be able to afford.
One of my favorite Chicago-area musicians, Jim Green, unfortunately left us and recently moved to Colorado. Perhaps you’ll be lucky enough to catch one of his performances; his guitar-playing is a uniquely beautiful way to get in touch with one’s emotions and inner self. Here’s a recent release:
https://youtu.be/-FraSkCJn-A
Beautiful guitar work! I love acoustic so much. Here is a guitarist I really like and found by happenstance due to a collaboration with one of my all time favorite musicians. Hope you enjoy!🙂

Sending 🤗 🤗 🤗 your way from me and my three girls😻😻😻.
Thank you Laila. 😻😻
Feeling excited for you – I won’t be moving again, but I am glad I made my one big move. Somethings I do miss, but more was gained as far as I can tell!
Feeling very unsure about things right now. So many answers that I don’t have.
Maybe your positive vibes will give me a lift.
Sorry your weekend has been so tough. I hope sunnier days are ahead in Colorado.
Thanks Deva. You have no idea how much your response meant to me.
Fingers crossed that the move goes well and you settle in happily. I get very stressed out about moves, so I totally sympathize. Best wishes to you!
Thank you OH. Lots of life changes are happening all at once.
Jalapeno that must feel daunting. I hope Colorado turns out to be the perfect place for you.
Are you moving this year? Will you be near your brother?
Thanks Robin. I hope that Colorado works out, too.
I will be looking for places near my brother. The Denver metro area is pretty much out of my price range. As near as I can tell, yes, I would be moving this year. Mr. Jalapeno is extremely motivated to sell our place so he can go back to FL.
I wish you luck then, getting your place sold quickly and finding a perfect place in Colorado, and adjusting to the change. It does seem like everyone loves it out there.
How have you and your son been holding up?
You know — we are up and down. We are doing better than I would have thought we’d do, so there’s that!
I’m with you on those peaches from Colorado! They arrive in Minnesota sometime in August usually, but I’ve never seen them for sale in Chicago. Why?? A person could do very well selling them here; most of the peaches we get are bad.
I’m sorry you’ve been having a difficult time lately; it will get better eventually. I hope you’ll enjoy being back near your brother again! Colorado seems like such a healthy, happy place to live.
Another gorgeous summer day, we’ve been spoiled with quite moderate temps lately. Still working on Lys du Désert, another 20 spritzes. 🙂
How close are you now to thunking that bottle?
Nowhere near a thunk, I haven’t been spraying every day due to travel and wearing a few other things. I need to ramp it up!
I love peaches when they’re good! My favorites are those Colorado peaches that I dream of all year long. I’ve heard you can find good peaches in Calhoun County in Illinois, near St. Louis, but I’ve never been. I’ve had some good Georgia and South Carolina peaches in my day too, but most of the peaches I find in Chicago are from California and go from being hard as a rock to being mushy and mealy, with no delicious ripe juicy period in between. Wah.
Today I sampled BDK Crème de Cuir. At first I detected that bitter acrid note I also find in scents like Bulgari Black, but it mostly calmed down over time. I wonder what exactly that compound is. I don’t like it, but a touch of it can make things interesting. It reminds me of the way the ’80s punks would smell when I passed them on the street with my mom.
This talk of peach scents reminds me that I bought some samples a year or two ago when I was looking for a good peach perfume, and I never made up my mind! I already have Mitsouko. I’m getting some peach essential oil for my diffuser since that’s cheap :).
