I am very late today because my husband died unexpectedly last night. I will probably take a few days off here. Meanwhile, please do go ahead and use this thread as you would any scent of the day poll...chat happily and talk about perfume, as we always do — it will cheer me up later, really! — and I'll be back when I can.

Robin, I am so very sorry for your loss. We will all be here whenever you are ready to return, and until then we will keep you in our hearts.
For what it’s worth, and in the spirit of chatting about perfumes, I’ve spent the last two days in Chanel 19 EDT (for strength, which I’ve been beaming Robin’s way), and am now in lashings of SMN Eva because I know Robin would love to see it mentioned … and because I love it. 🙂
Robin, I’m so sorry! Please accept my condolences.
I’m thinking of you and your family as, I’m sure, are all of us here at NST. Sending you love.
Oh Robin, you must be in shock. My heart goes out to you and yours. Sending you my deepest condolences.

Robin, I am so sorry to read this. I will be holding you and your family in my heart.
In case it is cheering at all, I am wearing Covet which I read about here and then received from a wonderful friend who I met via Now Smell This. You have brought us all so much beauty! We love you.
Ah, such heartbreaking news! Prayers and songs for you and your family.
Robin, what an awful shock for you! I am so sorry for your loss and hope you will accept my deepest condolences. My tears join in yours.
May you be surrounded by the love and presence of your family and friends, finding support there. ❤️
And here, all of us will be in spirit, sending vibrations of love and comfort to you. ✨
Oh my goodness Robin, condolences to you & your family. Sending love and fortitude.
Oh, so sorry to hear of your husband’s passing. Will add you to my prayers. Take care of yourself and let us know if we can help in any way.
Oh no! How shocking! I’m so very sorry. Please don’t worry about us or this page. You are beyond admirable to care enough to post at all here. I hope you can get through the next few days with help and love from family and friends. We are all sending you love and hugs.
I am so sorry to hear about your husband.
Omg!! So terribly sorry, Robin! I hope you have friends and family by your side. Lord, I’m so sorry!
Dear Robin, I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family. May your Husband Rest in Peace.
Oh Robin, I am so very sorry. You and your family will be in my thoughts and heart. Take your time, we’ll be here for you. Lots of love.
My sincerest sympathies. There are no words….
Robin, so sorry to hear about the shocking unexpected loss of your husband. May his memory be a blessing. May you and your son and other family members find comfort in the love that surrounds you.
All of my love to you and your family. I am so terribly sorry.
Oh Robin, what devastating news. I am so saddened to hear what has happened, and to know you will be enduring such pain and loss. I send you all my love.
Robin, I am so very sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers; sending you hugs.
Robin, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart sank reading your post today. I hope you can find comfort from those who surround you. All around the world we are mourning for you and your family.
Robin, I am so sorry to hear this. I wish you and your family comfort and ease at this exceptionally difficult time. I hope it will be a support to you to know that all these strangers inside the computer are sending you their best.
I’m wearing Aedes Pelargonium today.
The spring is really crazy so far. We’ve had almost 20*C over the weekend but today it’s only like 9-10…
Robin, please accept my deepest condolences on the sudden passing of your husband. My heart hurts for you. Hugs.
I am so deeply sorry to read this shocking news. I am heartbroken for you and your family. Don’t mind us, the blog is unimportant at a time like this. Big hugs and prayers.
Robin, Heartfelt condolences upon your loss. I hope you will be surrounded and supported by your local family and friends. I had planned on wearing Womanity today though I often change my mind when something else on the shelf looks shiny. But I followed through because it makes me think of you and NST. I love your Womanity review from 2010.
Dear Robin, you must be in shock, what a cruel blow, sending condolences and hugs to you and your son.
Robin, I am so sad to hear this? My condolences to you and your family
Oh, dear Robin, so sorry to hear about your husband. My deep condolences to you and your son. Please take care. *hugs*
I am so sorry to read this Robin, what a terrible shock. I’ll be thinking of you and your family, as will all the wonderful people you bring together through NST.
Robin, my deepest sympathy.
How awful, Robin. I am so sorry to hear this. You have all my sympathy.
I wore Yves Rocher Voile d’Ambre today (and can still smell it 9+ hours later). Remember when YR could be relied upon to create high-quality, reasonably priced scents? I don’t pay much attention to them any more but they had a great run.
What a thing.
Dear Robin, I am so deeply sorry. I am shocked, and saddened for you.
The sun is shining in Portland today, and I decided to wear Delina on top of Poppy body cream, and it smells just wonderfully rosy, tart and slightly spicy. It smells like warm deep hugs and all of life’s possibilities. It’s beautiful.
This blog has seen me- not so much grow up, as mature, and not be afraid of beautiful things. I hope that as you recover from your pain and loss, that you realize that there is yet more beauty in this world to discover and share.
I embrace you.
Edith.
Robin, I am so deeply sorry for you loss; what a shock that must have been for you and your family. Please take care of yourself and yours, and as others above have already stated, don’t worry about us, I’m sure we can entertain ourselves.
My condolences.
So terribly sorry to hear this news, Robin. We’ll be here when you get back. In the meantime, I put on my favorite scent in honor of you and your family: Sarrasins by Serge Lutens. A melancholy fragrance that’s both dark and beautiful.
Robin, I’m so incredibly sorry for your shocking loss. We’re all thinking about you and sending you love and comfort. Please take care of yourself and don’t feel like you need to take care of the blog. We’ll be here when you’re ready to come back.
I still haven’t put on perfume today, but I think I’ll put on Neroli Dore since it’s one of your loves.
oh Robin, I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope you can feel the comfort of your blog community encircling you with our love during this awful time.
Robin — oh, no. I am so very sorry. As others have said, take all the time you want or need. And if you want to come here and vent, rage, weep, or reminisce, we will all be here f
(Sorry)
… we will all be here for you. This community you’ve created has helped so many of us through rough times and I know we will do whatever we can to help.
Sorry to read about your husband Robin.
Thinking about you.
Hugs and hugs and hugs,
Portia xx
Oh, Robin, my deepest condolences to you and your son. I hope that you can feel all the love surrounding you from all of us here, and that it will give you a measure of comfort and the strength and fortitude you need to get through the days ahead. If there’s any way we can help you, please reach out to us; we are here for you.❤️
Robin, I am so sorry for your loss. I will hold you and your family in my thoughts. I admire you so much and clearly the whole NST community you’ve created loves you. Take the time you need. Sending safe, electronic hugs across the miles.
Dear Robin, What terrible, devastating news. My sincerest condolences. Thank you for sharing it with this community you’ve built.
I am so sorry for your immense loss.
Oh Robin, what a shock. I’ve been reading this blog I think from its inception. I don’t comment as I keep a very low profile on social media but I had to make an exception to let you know how so very sorry I am to hear of your husband’s passing. This blog has brought me so much joy over the years and I’m grateful that you keeping it going. Please accept my sincerest and deepest condolences and take care of yourself and your son.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve been reading your blog for-I don’t know how long, and it’s brought me so much joy and comfort. Sending some comfort your way. Please look after yourself.
Sincerely,
Carole MacLeod
Deepest condolences to you and your family…
I’m so very sorry to hear this news, Robin. Please don’t worry about the blog in the least little bit; we’ll all be here when you’re ready to return. Biggest, hugest hugs to you.
I’m wearing vintage Emeraude parfum, which I would never have known existed but for NST.
I’m also wearing Mitsouko, which I wouldn’t have heard of but for NST.
I layered the Mitsouko over the Emeraude, which I probably wouldn’t have been curious enough to try but for NST.
Thank You.
Nancy
Robin we’ve never met but I am absolutely speechless. I hope that you are surrounded by other people who love you and support you. If I could, I would give you a hug.
Robin, I am so very sorry for your lost. My deepest condolences.
Oh Robin–words fail. I am so very sorry and can only echo the shared sorrow from this community you have created. We all hold you and yours in our hearts tonight. Sending love and light to lead you on.
Still thinking of you. Those tears on the peony buds are a good image. Robin, I think you know how much we all value this community and all of your hard work in building it, but I want to echo what many here have said and say that we will be here when you’re ready. Please take the time you need to process your loss and the new world you’re in and only come back when you’re ready. I’ve been there, as I think many here have, and while it’s different for everyone I think many of us have an understanding of what you’re going through, and how hard it is.
So sorry to hear this.
Robin, I am so sorry to hear such terrible news. My heart reaches out to you and your family.
I am so sorry for your loss. Please take care, and do things in your own time.
I think I will wear L’Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons today. My partial bottle came from a Swapmeet, and it still gives me a thrill to spray it liberally. I don’t think I’d ever smelled linden before, and in combination with orange blossom and just a little tuberose, it is really beautiful.
So sorry to hear your sad news, dear Robin. Sending you condolences & thoughts, as is everyone else on here. Please do not even consider coming back until you are absolutely ready – we will be here for you regardless & always.
I am just reading this now. My heart is breaking for you. Please know I am holding you and your family close to my heart.
Robin-take all the time you need. NST will always be here…
I’m so very sorry for your sudden and painful loss of your husband Robin. I can’t imagine how you feel. I’m thinking of you. You have brought our community so much happiness and I wish that for you always.
I’m so very sorry for your sudden and painful loss of your husband Robin. I can’t imagine how you feel. I’m thinking of you. You have brought our community so much happiness and I wish that for you always.
Thursday.
Robin, continuing to think of you and your husband. I hope you have family and friends to help you with the bureaucratic details, . Please take a few moments to simply breathe and take care of yourself
Oh Robin, I am so very very sorry. I wish there were adequate words. I pray you are surrounded by loved ones at this time such that they can provide some small comfort and solace.
Oh Robin, I am so sorry. Sending you and your family all my love.
Robin, my deepest condolences to you and your family. Beaming you warmth and support over the wires. I don’t post much but I have read avidly over the years. In NST, you’ve created such a positive, joyful, smart, entertaining, and insightful blog and gathered around you like-minded souls, all of whom are here now milling about in shock and sorrow for your loss.
I am so sorry, Robin. There are no words but I hope you find comfort with your loved ones and within yourself. Time. Sending you a big hug.
Robin, I’m so sorry to hear about this, please take as much time as you need and know that we are thinking of you here.
Robin,
I was shocked to read this news and cannot imagine how you are feeling. My thoughts are with you and your family and I hope that in addition to the love from NSTers online here, that you are surrounded by loved ones who can support you through this.
elke
Robin I am so sorry to hear this news. I count myself among those who come here regularly to partake of the community, wit, and sharing of the perfumed arts. Thank you for all you have done for us over the years. Big hug
Dearest Robin,
I am so sorry for your terrible loss!
I cannot even imagine.
Sending a virtual gigantic hug your way!You were there for me during a terrible time,I hope you know all of us here will be there for you in any way possible!
XO’s
Johanò.❣️🌹🤗🤗
I’m in Dior Homme edp today,on Freedom Day(public holiday) in South Africa.
Hope everyone has a good Thursday!
Grouphug!!!❣️❣️❣️
Hugs back at you, J B — and you smell divine. 💕
Always appreciate NST hugs so much!
My goodness, what shocking news. Robin, you’ve managed this community for so many years with kindness and steadfastness. We are wishing you a path forward through grief towards healing.
And I know you like orange blossom, so I am wearing Sylvanie Delacourte Osiris.
Peace be with all of you. Sending my deepest condolences
Oh Robin, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Sending you, your son, and family love, condolences, and hugs.
You have created a wonderful community here at NST. Please allow us to support you however we can. You have encouraged us to chat and post our SOTDs on this thread and we will. As other needs come up, whether it is space to grieve or rant in text, help or advice in navigating issues that you are now juggling, or just a request for cute pet photos to give your brain a break from thinking for a few minutes — please put the call out here. We appreciate the community you’ve fostered for us and would be honored to provide community support to you in whatever way would be helpful.
I am wearing Lys 41 in honor of Robin and her glowing review of it.
Tea today is an English Breakfast from a new-to-me brand called Tealeaves. It seems to be the house brand for the Hilton I’m staying at in New Orleans for a work conference. Had I known earlier that Jazz Fest starts this weekend, I might have stayed and gone to the first couple of nights. Instead I am heading home tomorrow and will be at the Sniffapalooza Spring Fling on Saturday. Any other NST friends going to be there?
I still regularly read from Robin’s past reviews, and of course all the others in the NST library. And past comments on perfumes too.
I do too.
Me, too!
Have fun at the Sniffa, Vee, and do give us the report when you come back!
Hope you had an easy flight back home! Enjoy the Sniffa.
I’m just seeing this now and my heart aches for you and your son. Please know that I’ll be keeping you close in my heart and mind this week. We’ll all be here whenever you’re ready to chat but you should also take time to do what you need to do and just have some quiet moments for yourself, of course. xoxo
I am so terribly sorry, Robin. Sending you love and strength as you get through this difficult time.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending your family healing thoughts, take time to care of yourself.
Robin, I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Robin, I am just seeing this and my heart goes out to you and yours. I hope you feel the love of this community and take some comfort in it. I am so sorry for your loss.
My deepest condolences. Living thoughts for you and your family.
So sorry, Robin. My heart breaks for you. You will be very busy, so do as you need. So very sorry for your sudden and unexpected loss.
I’m so terribly sorry for your loss xx
Robin, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Praying for comfort for you and your family.
Thanks, Robin, for “Community Projects.” Thinking of you again and joining in the well-expressed hopes and prayers here for you at this time. For the CP, and recalling good advice NST offers us all, a few spritzes of Rihanna’s Rebelle. The 100ml bottle I purchased years ago makes me appreciate the day I understood why so many perfumistas sigh for travel sizes. I see the name as Ri(Ri’s) a belle and a rebel(which she is both). Anyway, once I get past the ginger top note, it’s a great chocolate and strawberry for those of us who like such things.
Thinking about you again today, Robin. I’ve cried a little bit for you both days.
Sharing an anecdote that the NST community will understand. Yesterday I was at the dentist’s office, getting ready to sit down in that chair, and suddenly someone said “Oooh, who smells good? Is that lotion?”
It was me, wearing the very last of TM Supra Floral in my sample, and a bit of Le Labo Ylang 49. So I had a sample thunk and a perfume compliment yesterday.
SOTD = Le Labo 49 by itself.
I heard the thunk!
Hehe! Gonna try for another soon.
Perfume compliments are rare and wonderful things! Enjoy.
I was very surprised and pleased! Wasn’t expecting a TM perfume to be a hit.
I am wearing PG Cozé again today, because it feels like a warm hug. Sending you warm fragrant hugs.
I’m so, so sorry to hear this, Robin. You are such a source of joy to all of us here. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Words fail me. Thank you for building and maintaining this kind community.
Robin, I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family. My dad passed suddenly a few years ago and there are no words for the shock and sorrow of that time. I will be thinking of you. Thank you for everything you have done over the years.
What a shock! I am so sorry for the loss of your dear husband. You will need time and space to grieve and then to deal with all the unexpected things that we never really think about until there is a death in the family. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and thank you for creating a space where people can share their trouble and triumphs and receive love and support.
I am shocked and saddened to read this. Very sorry, Robin.
Oh, Robin, I am so, so sorry. Sending condolences to you and your son.
Robin, I am so sorry to hear about this. My heart goes out to you and your family. This community you created will support you in whatever ways we can.
I am sitting here with whiffs of Swiss pine room spray I just deployed to remind myself that not everything that smells good is a perfume. I hope you will find solace in some ways, to help you get through this ordeal. Take care of yourself.
Oh Robin, I’m so sorry for your loss. I wish you and your loved ones strenghth and comfort.
I have been really thinking about Robin and her son this week. I started going through my perfumes and realized that probably 90% of my purchases have been fragrances I found out about on this site. If it wasn’t for Robin and this community I would never have delved into this world of “smells” including perfumes and candles. I just love it here. Thanks to Robin and all of you.
I just felt like Chanel No 5 EDT on this cool and rainy day here.
Happy Friday friends!
SOTD!
Lush Vanillary.I topped it up this morning just before leaving, but accidentally grabbed the “Dirty” right next to it.What a fun layering experiment, and I swear the combo created one of my favorite elusive notes:pineapple!Yes to this.
Robin, hope you are okay and hanging in there!Thinking about you and your son! Please reach out if you feel you need a virtual hug!
To ally other friends on here:Hug your loved ones regularly, and “I love you” is never too corny or ever unwanted.
XO’s.🌹❣️🤗
Happy Friday to you, JB! Well, by the time I write this I bet it’s already Saturday in your neck of the woods.
By the time I read this it’s Saturday eve,9:45.✌🏻🌹
Robin, thinking of you today 😢. Tomorrow I’m going to a memorial service for a dear friend who died recently. He was not only a fellow library volunteer and founder of our Friends of the Library organization, but he gave so much of his life to many other community organizations. I’ll be wearing just a touch of vintage Helena Rubenstein Heaven Sent for him, and for your loved one, too.
For today’s cp, I’m wearing Ted Lapidus Creation (the 1984 original) in edt form (although I have a vintage Parfum mini, too). Is it named Creation because this mossy/green/floral chypre contains 25 different notes (according to fragrantica) and it truly is a perfumer’s creation? Is it because it smells like the Garden of Eden (according to one fragrantica poster)? Or, for me, because Creation best represents the month of April here in the Midwest when my world suddenly comes to life and everything bursts into bloom? It’s a powerhouse 80’s scent, extremely green, loaded with galbanum and oakmoss.❤️
A sweet perfume story that I hope will make everyone smile. My granddaughter will be in her first HS play next weekend. Knowing I ‘collect’ perfume, she asked me if I had a perfume bulb atomizer I could lend her as a prop for a scene. Ha! Did I? I have a lovely glass atomizer with a long, elegant black tasseled bulb sprayer I got as part of a GWP that I never used. And Its art deco styling suits the play – the musical ‘Chicago!,’ set in the jazz age of the 1920’s. How perfect is that? ‘Absolutely!’ She said. 🥰
Sending hugs and peace to all.
♥ That’s a great perfume story!
Lovely story, thank you Laila and hugs to you.
Perfect prop for the play, whoo hoo! Great story.
Hugs to you, for your friend.
Hope your granddaughter breaks a leg!
Laila, thanks for sharing your happy story!
So cute! Of course we have bulb sprayers lying around the house. 🙂
Thanks for sharing your sweet story, bet that atomizer is gorgeous.
Robin,
I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one is never easy, even more so when it’s unexpected. Wishing you strength and comfort.
I also wanted to thank you for building this wonderful community here at NST. When I first starting getting into fragrance, your reviews and recommendations were pivotal in discovering new perfumes and figuring out my personal preferences. Over the years, I’ve had many fun swaps and splits and it wouldn’t have been possible without you and everyone here.
Wish I could hug you, Robin. You always have made this community so inclusive and allowed us to be vulnerable. Internet strangers with a passion for perfumes have become friends.
Its not just about you creating NST, its more about you caring to keep it alive and thriving. Because of your commitment to your second family.
I’ll be wearing samples for a bit. I always ask you how you don’t buy perfume, but you sample a lot. I hope you don’t enable me, too much.
💜
For the CP win: Mandarine Mandarin. It is a sophisticated scent, appealing in an exquisitely simple way, like a Chinese watercolor still life of a dish of mandarin oranges. It is a reference to “the Mandarins,” a slang term for bureaucratic opponents or a hint of identifying with the historical Mandarin class. It is avoiding the warmth and sweetness of an orange for the astringent crispness of a fresh stalk of celery. I would not put anything in this scent past M. Lutens and Mr. Sheldrake!
Well done on the CP, MossyBerry!
Thank you – the names of all his perfumes are, I think, as well-considered as the notes.
Robyn, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I cannot imagine the strength it took to post. If you need anything please let us know! You and your family are in my thoughts.
I’m working a long day in Opus X. My last two weeks are pretty interesting so far.
So sorry to ho hear about your loss Robin. Hope you are able to surround yourself with loved ones during this time and wish you and your family much strength and resilience.
Finally getting around to trying Delina. While I usually turn my nose up at much-hyped frags like this, Delina is actually quite lovely and perfect for spring.
Robin,
I really wish I had some wise and profound magic words that would take away the pain you are feeling. I can only hope that your family can move close to surround each other with the love and strength that will give you comfort.
You will all be in my prayers.
I’m wearing Diptyque Eau des Sens for the CP.
From the Diptyque website:
“The name is a play on words – senses and essences – that heralds its polysemous nature as its olfactory accord involves a combination of senses.”
Robin, I’m hugging you from afar. Wish I could do something or say something useful but alas, I can’t. You are in my thoughts. ❤️
Dear Robin, I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. My most sincere condolences to you, your son, and your extended family. Please take good care.
I’m participating in the CP, as requested. Gourmand Coquin is an amusing twist of a name, given that it’s pretty much boozy chocolate. Double naughty.
Robin, I’m so so sorry for your loss.
Not participating in the CP, but wearing Azemour today as I’m thinking of Robin.
I am so sorry.
Also participating in the CP today. I almost wore Womanity, as per MossyBerry, but the hand reached for something else instead.
SOTD = Voleur de Roses, from the Sample Stash. A rose scent without any roses in it. The thief took them all!
Haha … I thought this smelled like a wet basement, literally like one that has the sump pump running 24 x 7
And to me, it is an excellent patch perfume! I wish my basement smelled that good…
This is why I didn’t even look at houses with sump pumps. Oh.. plus the cost when you need to fix it.
My basement has a sump pump, and I have had zero issues with it. Any water that has been in the basement has come from upper floors.
Love this! One of my top 10 of all.
Robin, I’m so sorry for your and your family’s loss. May your husband’s memory be a blessing.
I participated in the cp today. I am wearing Prada Candy Kiss.
That’s perfect for the CP.
Wearing Chinatown today. Thanks to the NST swapmeet. Is it a clever name? Maybe not, but definitely interesting and piqued my interest long ago when I first heard of it – here, on NST.
Still thinking of you, Robin.
Do you like Chinatown?
I do! Not sure if it has changed but I have definitely grown in my ability to appreciate many different perfumes.
SOTD = Lush x Lazy Oaf Body Spray
I am sort of participating in the CP. I had no clue what Lazy Oaf is but the body spray smelled so good I bought it on the spot and it joined my collection as Lush body spray #8! It has tonka, vetiver and vanilla. It starts out strong and lasts a decent amount of time. Just like any perfume, I tend to not spray on clothes. BTW, now I know that Lazy Oaf is a fashion brand.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CrmXz8pugcl/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
This sounds interesting!
If its potency is anything like my Rose Jam body spray it must be a winner!
Wearing Clouds of Flowers today–I like the name and like the scent
I’ll be wearing Zara’s Energetically New York to bed tonight for the CP. It is a shameless dupe of Santal 33, and I am amused that Zara took the opportunity to goof on New York City and the clouds of Santal 33 that the “It” crowd there used to wear by matching the scent with the name in their Cities collection.
For the CP – ELDO Rien (which means nothing in French but this perfume is EVERYTHING and then some!)
😀
Rien is something alright!
My condolences to you and your family.
Robin, my heart utterly and completely goes out to you. May you be wrapped in comfort and strength by everyone you love, and know that we’re all beaming the warmest of hugs to you.
sotd = Bogue MEM
.
Robin, I’m so deeply sorry.
Wow – I just read up on MEM. It sounds amazing! Does the name mean something?
I’m so sorry to hear that
Robin, I’m so so sorry for your loss. What a terrible shock. I hope you’re finding some comfort in the virtual hugs of all of us. Sending lots of love your way.
Oh Robin, I’m so sad for you and your son. Sorry too that I’m late in my condolences — I have been in Yosemite this past week with little internet access — I’d send you some of Yosemite’s grand peace if I could.
Just checking in one more time. We continue to think of you. Please do what you need to do to take care of yourself.
I’m wearing DSH Marzipan today. Thinking of you, Robin.
You are wearing “me” today! Lol! And the perfect day too! You smell amazing!!!!
Of course I am thinking of you too! 😉
😻❤️😻❤️
Haha!I always think of you when I munch on chocolate covered marzipan,a favorite treat!
XO’s
Oh I love this!! I hope you munch on it a lot!! It’s so good!!
I do,much to the despair of my summer shorts and jeans….🤣🤣🤣🙈
Ritter Sport CM bars would be my desert island candy but they’ve disappeared locally.
JB I am sure you look amazing
MossyBerry I love Ritters as well. Hope you can find them locally again
Robin, this sounds like a total gut punch. I’m so sorry, and I hope you have folks around you that allow you to process your grief and shock in the way you and your body need to.
I’m one of those “readers forever who rarely comments.” I have always loved perfume, but found NST in 2011, and it brought my love to a new level. I echo everyone else in thanking you for what you do here.
I’m wearing Coco Noir today, which I poo-pooed when it came out, but now really love. I’d only ever smelled it on a blotter, but on my skin it’s a totally different creature: like an airier Coco with a touch of champagne. I adore Coco EDP, but it’s very much a deep winter-only scent for me. This is less demanding in many ways, while still smelling like a proper 80s scent on my skin. 🙂
I must confess:I love a couple of Chanels but have NEVER smelled Coco or Coco Noir!🙈🙈🙈

You must try. Coco Noir is one of my favorites during the cooler months.
I own a FB Coco; I prefer the EdT over the EdP, it’s much lighter.
I prefer the edt too.
I hadn’t smelled Coco either until recently…and then down the rabbit hole I went😋
Oh boy…then I should probably go sniff it sometime soon….🙈🙈
Yes, you ought to, lol!
What a fantastic rabbit hole scent!!
I’m not OLD, but I’m old enough to remember our neighborhood’s rich*, older lady wearing Coco back when it came out. I LOVED the smell of her house. And, yes, the whole house smelled of it. 😂 *I was not from a wealthy town, so…”rich” for our area…
I’m so sorry for your loss, Robin. May his memory be a blessing and time bring you peace. My thoughts are with you and yours.
Happy Saturday boys and girls!
Let’s keep this thread going,PLEASE!
I think it might be good for Robin to eventually see all of us being here with her in spirit every day.
SOTD!
Lush Dirty.I so enjoy this one,and I’ve been neglecting my Lush stash for way too long.Wish I still had some Orange Blossom as well.
Hope everyone is well!
Robin:….❣️❣️❣️
XO’s
Lush twins with you! I’m wearing Silky Underwear; I know Robin has mentioned this one in the past.
I’m working in my yard today, planting seeds so I’m definitely dirty from the soil! The temperatures here have gone from winter to summer overnight!
Yay for Lush twins!
It’s been a HOT Fall so far, today was basically summer and Inwas in shorts and flip-flops.Hope Summer treats you well!🌹🌹🤗
Glad you are still getting HOT weather! Hope it continues for you! If I could, I’d live in flip flops..
Yes to this.I’m so casual in my middle age….🤣🤣🤣🤷🏼♂️
I may plant some seeds next week, beans, turnips & lettuce. We still have a frost possibility.
I hope you get good weather for planting! I’m still amazed that seeds can amount into such lovely things.
I agree J B.
I will be posting every day unless I’m told not to.
Good to see you babes!Happy Saturday!🌞🌞🌹
“Babes”…. you just made an old broad blush.
Haha!Mission accomplished.🌹🤗
I totally agree, J B! Keep it going. You smell so great today in Dirty. I spritz a little of that one when I go in LUSH stores, but have never quite pulled the lever on it yet. ☺️
Do It!!On the days you wanna smell like the first half hour after a shower/shampoo/brushed teeth, but for the whole day,it’s PERFECTION.👍🏻👍🏻
Dude! You make it sound so great! Enablers badge might be headed your way. Maybe. Possibly. 🤩
Haha!I’ll take it!
Dang it, forgot to wish you a happy weekend. Enjoy your treasure hunt at the antiques fair, and your scarf! 🧣
Hi JB, are you having the weekend off👋🤞?
Yes!Super long weekend since Thursday till Tuesday!Lazy lazy lazy, tomorrow I’m going to a wonderful antique fair, and collecting my Hermès scarf purchases!!Happy Sunday!
🤗🤗🌹
I am wearing Orange Blossom today, but it is a loooong discontinued scent from The Gap; it is a nice little touch of spring while it’s still *brrrr* outside.
I’m yet to meet an orange blossom-centred perfume I do not like.I bet you smell like Spring!🌹🌹
Thanks to your post, I decided to post today as well.
Always happy to rally the team if need be!Haha! So glad you are here!🤗🤗
I agree!
Robin, my heart is still heavy for you and your son.
I’m wearing Orange Sanguine today because the weather is wacky and it’s in the upper 80s on my patio. Yesterday it was 97F.
That is a great scent for warm weather!
Still on my Mugler kick in Aura edt. Angel Fruity Fair was my first Mugler, a lemming because of the video Robin put in her 2017 announcement of its issue. I joined The Circle and registered my code, and Mugler USA started sending me samples of their other products. Aura had just been launched, really got my attention, and that started my exploration. Now it seems Aura is discontinued, which is a sad state of affairs. I think any fans with only samples should consider a wonderful green or pink heart because prices are excellent. I think I’ve seen it at TJX, too.
Fruity Fair is a good one.
Aura is great and has a beautiful bottle.
I’m house twins with MossyBerry today in Mugler Angel Eau crosiere. The 2019 mango version. I bought a Suave body wash in Mango Citrus. It smells really good and is only 3 dollars.
Love to you and your Son Robin.
Hi twin😸
Thanks for mentioning the Suave Mango Citrus body wash. I have to look for it now!
It’s cool and a bit muggy here in Houston today. My SOTM was Eau Duelle EdP and I’ll be re-upping that decision here pretty soon. It’s a comforting scent for me.
Robin, I’m hoping you’re finding some comfort during this difficult time and getting as much rest as possible. We’re all thinking about you.

I was outside before dawn and spotted Matariki, the star cluster that marks the Maori New Year but also marks the time we remember ancestors and those who have recently died. It is so beautiful up there in the sky, a light in the darkness. Thinking of you, Robin.
A nice photo gallery of an artist who does small landscapes of US places in mint tins. The paint is applied to wood. He is based in Colorado. Wearing Jicky.
I’ll follow up on Matariki-I am always glad to know more ways to appreciate the night sky.
Me too on Matariki. So interesting to learn about other cultures and beliefs!
Thanks for sharing that link…such beautiful little landscapes.
Thanks for posting that link Kanuka. The Flatirons are a familiar sight to me, growing up in the Denver metro area. They’re visible for many miles away.
Absolutely gorgeous today in Seattle. I’m in Ashoka from our recent swapmeet. So grateful for all the generous and kind people on NST.
Another grey day here in NJ, but much needed rain has been falling. It will go a long way in breaking the drought that half the state was in.
Had a painting contractor in the house earlier today. Time to paint the house. We sure aren’t doing it ourselves; the last time we tried to paint a single small room, Mr. Jalapeno and I were at each other’s throats by completion. We have a couple more coming in the near future.
SOTD = back in Voleur de Roses today.
Mr Mossy and I have similar track record on joint home improvement projects 😳😅.
I feel your pain!
Are you doing every room?
Almost, yes. Not painting the basement, since it is unfinished. Not doing closets either.
Home improvements! We are looking at getting long-overdue new flooring. I had a difficult time convincing my hubby that we need it at all, let alone throughout. We also had a similar outcome as you with wallpaper and installing a ceiling fan!
I hope you get a reasonable quote and that it turns out spectacularly. What color(s) are you thinking of?
Glad to hear that I am not the only person who has a rough time with basic home improvement projects. 😵💫
Most of the colors will be the same as what we already have on the walls. We like most of what’s up. Some rooms have never had the crappy contractor grade paint covered up with something nice. I have one bedroom that I am at a total loss for, though.
I think I have that same crappy contractor grade color too. My niece has her own design studio so I asked her for some good neutrals (a while ago, painting is still not done here, though.. you are sensing a pattern). Not that you asked but she mentioned Sherwin Williams – Alabaster, Benjamin Moore – Classic Gray and Benjamin Moore – Gray Owl (this one is apparently kind of a chameleon).
Hope you can find something suitable!
I’m leaning towards either a Sherwin-Williams paint, or something from Behr. Behr looks gorgeous up and has really good stain & traffic resistance.
Ben Moore is crazy expensive, and not necessarily the best you can get.
I have a bit of time to ponder color for that bedroom. All the other rooms have colors picked out.
Hope your house looks awesome when it’s all done.Focus on that!🙈🙈🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks for the encouragement!
Big shout out to Pfsh plus an enabler pin too. She told me about Brooklyn Candles and just got three today. The ones I decided to get all smell divine and that is before even lit. I will give updates as I use.
SOTD is TF Black Orchid as it remains cool here today in the Midwest.
I might wear that tomorrow.
Wearing Jo Malone Honey & Crocus from the swapmeet. Love the warmth and comfort of this scent.
A weekend of non-stop, but so much needed rain with temperatures feeling in the mid 40’s.
Robin, thinking of you and your son and sending love, peace and strength. We all love you here! 💕
It’s raining here too, with falling temperatures. It’s ok though, that’s what April tends to do.
I am glad we are having rain this weekend. It has been very dry here for weeks. We will stay in the low 50″s next week. No complaints. According to the weather news we are going to have a very dry and hot summer. I’m not looking forward to it despite liking hot temps!
How’s your Mom doing?
Thanks for asking, Jalapeno. Mom is at home and getting worse as days pass. We are just trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. Nothing much to do anymore.
The Window by RUMI
“Your body is away from me
but there is a window open
from my heart to yours.
From this window, like the moon
I keep sending news secretly.”
Robin, thinking of the rough road you are traveling and wishing I had some small power to make it smooth.
This poem is beautiful.
❣️❣️❣️🌹
Isn’t it? I love RUMI for his depth of emotion and his hopefulness. Highly recommend any book of his collected works. Many poems are shorter, quick to read for busy people, but stay in your mind all day to meditate on as you go about your business.

I’m so sorry to hear about your husband. Praying for peace for you and your family.
I am so sorry to read your sad sad news.
I hope that your warm memories help you during the difficult time.
Dear Robin, I’m so very sorry for your loss..
Asking the NST hive mind: any suggestions for less expensive dupes for POAL?
Thanks in advance! ☺️
I think Aurora mentioned Molton Brown Rosa Absolute as a good POAL substitute.

Thinking of Robin often and wearing a week of her favorites, starting with Prada Infusion d’Iris💕
I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. Wishing you peace during this very difficult time.
I just read your post, and want to extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. My heart is heavy for you. Please take care of yourself as much as possible.
Very shocked by the sad news. You are so loved by so many people on this site. Thank you for keeping it going, despite your loss. Please take the time to deal with your grief. Hope you and your son will eventually cope and be okay.
From comments on some of the more recent posts I guessed you had suffered a loss in your family. It took me a while to figure out what it was, but I just didn’t want to ask. I missed it as I had been absent from NST for a while before I recently started reading and posting there again.
I’m deeply, deeply sorry you lost your husband.
I hope you will be able to find beauty and contentment again and meanwhile I thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating NST. It’s one of the best places on the web, and you are by far my favourite blog editor. Hugs from Luxembourg!
Thank you austenfan, that is very kind of you!
