Monday, too soon as usual. It's also National Pig in a Blanket Day and The International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace. The swapmeet ends tomorrow night! Birthdays: Anthony Trollope, Elizabeth Goudge, Willem de Kooning, Robert Penn Warren, Gabriel Figueroa, Barbra Streisand, Jean Paul Gaultier. RIP Barry Humphries. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm countering a chilly spring morning with the sunny Aftelier Candide.
Reminder: 4/28 will be Clever Twist Friday...wear a perfume with a clever twist or pun in the name, or just a name that you found particularly clever. Bonus points if it actually smells good! Suggested by Akimon, who gave as an example Jimmy Choo I Want Choo.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

My other half & I are still chuckling at it being National Pig in a Blanket Day! We call it a ‘sausage roll’ on this side of the pond. Thank you for that, Robin, made our Monday.
So glad it made you laugh!
Hermann A Mes Cotes for me today. I think after a floral week last week, I need a week of green, or whatever Hermann is.
LOL at “or whatever Hermann is”!
In Eau de Sud, both the body cream and EDT. And I used Jo Malone Lime Basil Mandarin as a shower gel-I need to think clearly today, and get a lot done, so needed a citrus-y chypre to see me through.
Freezing fog here today-temps still below zero at night. I’m grateful to the tulip, hyacinths and crocus for making their appearances, in spite of the weather 🙂
Lime Basil & Mandarin is my favorite shower gel from Jo Malone and the scent really lingers. I don’t particularly care for wearing the cologne in that scent, but I like it in the shower gel.
I feel the same way – shower gel is the perfect format for me 🙂 Love that the bathroom smells so good after a shower:)
Hello NST fam!
In the remnants of Chanel Cuir de Russia parfum from last night. I’m at a dreary municipal building getting an ID renewed and perfume is the only thing keeping me sane right now.
Rereading Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir for a potential cosplay project. If you like necromancers in space, this series is for you.
Oh whoops not sure why it posted here, my bad for hijacking your post!
That’s totally fine-you smell great , BTW 🙂
I think it was you pfsh that recommended Brooklyn Candles. I ordered three today so I will let you know what I think.
It sure was me! Hope you enjoy them and looking forward to your thoughts 🙂
“Necromancers in space”? Curiouser and curiouser!
It’s a fun read! Would recommend if you like sci-fi fantasy stuff 🙂
Commando for a mammogram this morning, thanks for the reminder, madtowngirl! Afterwards I will spray on a cloud of Chaldee from the swapmeet, I’m in love with it 😊
Yay! I’m so glad I inspired you to go! Hope all goes well!
Chaldee is fantastic-gets even better in the heat 🙂
Oh, that’s good to know!
Good for you getting that taken care of! And yes, I can second that Chaldee is better as the temps rise.
Beautiful photo. I have peonies that color that should be blooming in my yard soon *if* they survived being transplanted.
I’m in (well, was in) La Pausa thanks to a generous nster. I did 8 sprays hajusuuri style and I think it was gone before I left the house. Beautiful, yes. Worth the price, not for me.
We have a not-well-cared-for peony in that color too. It is getting too much shade and does not do so well. But we saw gorgeous tree peonies already in bloom at Winterthur Gardens yesterday, the variety was something-Sakura.
Adorable hubby has to get a chemo port installed today. Wearing vintage Dune, taking a crocheted lap blanket to work on while waiting- requires no attention, but looks pretty due to nice color scheme in yarns. Supposed to find out if there is a positive response to the chemo in five weeks or so. Just doing the most important thing at every moment..
Yes, and I know it’s too cliche, but one day/one step at a time helps me deal with things as well. I hope it goes well today and through the next multiple weeks. Taking a project sounds like a great idea. Vintage Dune for courage!!
Thanks!
Lots of good wishes to you and hubby! A port will save him so many painful sticks. Creating something beautiful in a time of stress is one of the best coping mechanisms available to humanity, so rock in with you lovely project. 💪🏼
Thanks, Deva!
Best of everything to you both, meredifay!
I appreciate it !
Hoping for the best outcome for you both, meredifay. You smell wonderful and your project sounds lovely.
Sending healing vibes, very wise to work on a low-key project during this time.
I hope all goes well! And yes, putting one foot in front of the other is all you can do at this stage.
Sending healing prayers for your hubby.
Sending more healing vibes to you and your sweet hubby🌸
Adding to all the well wishes for your hubby! I hope it all goes smoothly.
Hope all goes well!
Best of luck to your husband, and sending you both thoughts of strength for what is to come.
Eau de Gaga from a lovely NST friend. This is wonderful!! I think it’s possibly the best celeb fragrance ever. Very unisex and clean in a delightful way. Sillage is subtle but I get little whiffs from warm skin for hours. I find it green and citrussy with woods at the far drydown–fragrantica says lime, violet, leather and woods. It even has an attractive bottle.
You smell wonderful!
Yep, agree, got it when it was released, it’s my one celebrity scent.
Twins! Yes, I really like it and got a very good deal on it on Amazon. I think it’s the only celeb fragrance I own (if you don’t count celeb perfumers 🙂 .)
Bulgari Black. I put it on first thing this morning and thought, huh, maybe I’m over it and should swap it away, but I had another spritz after showering and thought, oh, *there* it is! Sometimes you just have to be in a really specific mood for a particular scent, which is as good a reason as any to have an entire library of them.
Thank you. Your reasoning is music to my ears –
“Sometimes you just have to be in a really specific mood for a particular scent, which is as good a reason as any to have an entire library of them.”
I will say these words to myself when I have those inevitable moments of perfume doubt and lapse into the predictable “I can’t possibly use up all of these bottles!”🙃
I tell you, these people who think “But you’ll never use it all!” is an actual argument — well, do they think life is some sort of contest, and we win if we use up all our stuff just before we die? Because that day is going to come, and however frugal and conscientious we might have been, there will be things we leave behind.
The point was never to use it all up, or to have just enough to get me through to the end, whenever that might be. No, the point was and is to enjoy what I have while I can, and if I need one hundred different scents to maximize my enjoyment of them, so I have lots of choice and variety and I never get bored of them, well, who’s to say that’s wrong? Is it wrong to own a hundred different books and not read each of them until they’re tatters?
This is very logical and beautiful at the same time.
Some people seem to put perfume in the same category as food. I totally agree with your mindset.
Thank you, again. More music to my ears.
As someone, I can’t remember who, said near the end of her life, “I only regret my economies.” I take that to mean all manner of holding back, whether it be kindness, impractical risks (financial and otherwise), speaking one’s truth, and perfume, of course.
I had a colleague who died of pancreatic cancer, quite quickly. At his funeral, another colleague gave the obituary and said, “Ross once said, “I never regretted anything I hadn’t done, but did regret some things I hadn’t bought.” We all laughed, but it was so cute and funny. Among other things, he collected Baccarat crystal.
What a wealth of birthdays today!
I’m in Violet Blonde this morning and (as we do) wondering why I don’t wear it more often. It’s an all-season, any-weather fragrance for me.
You smell elegant.
Well, I did get to experience a sausage pancake on a stick this weekend, so that’s kind of like a pig in a blanket, right? (I was at my grandmother’s. She was always a Midwestern cook and now that she’s in her 90s, she cooks as much frozen pre-made food as possible…and insists on cooking though I tell her I will. I don’t blame her at all — who wants to cook at that age? I guess it is always a new adventure in CPG product discovery when I go.)
I wore a lot of Fox in the Flowerbed at the end of last week since we were travelling and it’s a lovely spring perfume, and in my travel bag. (All I have to say is…don’t fly if you can avoid it. It costs 2x what it did a couple years ago and is 3x more unpleasant.)
Maybe I’ll do Eau de Gaga today. Perhaps not the funniest twist, but it’s a cool day and I’m still waking up, after spending nearly 20 hours in cars, airports, and planes yesterday. I’ll leave the thinking and exploration for another day. 🙂
I hoped you get some well-deserved rest today.
About 10 – 15 years ago, pigs in a blanket were very much The Thing to have at wedding receptions! I can think of 3 separate occasions when they were served.
Wearing Onda VdE today for what I’m hoping is a rain free day. Nothing clever about the name but the perfume, to me, is chef’s kiss wonderful. So happy to have my bottle! 👩🏻🍳💋
We are out and about and starting a little walkabout to check on spring growth here around Mount St Helens. The birds were up early and so was T-Rex, so it naturally follows I was up early too. Even though I MIGHT have preferred to lounge luxuriously in bed for another hour or two…
Inother news, I just heard that all the ER travelers at my current facility have been fired, so I’m waiting to be set free any day now..! They have so little staff, the condition I got a patient in the other night was horrendous. A sister facility closed all their med/surg floors last week and turfed all the patients to psych and ortho floors. Nursing got the union involved and the floors have been reopened. I didn’t think there would ever be a worse time to be hospitalized than during the pandemic, but I was wrong. I think now is worse, so stay well y’all! Cheers!!
You have a lot to deal with, hoping smelling wonderful helps.
Hopefully if you’re set free you can find a new landing spot fairly quickly!
The hospital situation sounds horrifying. Fervently praying I don’t ever need hospitalization.
I just don’t want to be a patient right now,in any hospital or any country!
No kidding. I hate to think how bad it’s going to get before something gets done…
Yikes! Considering myself lucky that my ER visit was in and out.
Slowly waking up today but am starting the week in a funny and cleverly named perfume by Smell Bent, Elf-Fulfilling Prophecy. Yes, it’s a holiday release, but as long as it’s a chilly day, it works. Cookies and cola are what I mostly get.
Perfect choice for the CP!
They had a lot of clever names. This is a good one!
Smoothie is Clementines and yogurt
Even though we’re back to cool temps and some rain this afternoon I selected a green and citrussy perfume, Floris Special No (omitted by Fragrantica) 127, it has a great petitgrain note, happy that I will have the opportunity to wear it more this summer. Tonight it’s vintage Dana Tabu, so rich and I’m thunking my little 20ml called lotion, although it’s exactly like perfume, I have a BUB.
I used to see Tabu practically everywhere back in the day. Not so much anymore.
Here I don’t see it in shops either but it is available at the discounters usually in big bottles while mine are small.
I used to see Tabu practically everywhere back in the day. Not so much anymore.
I recently bought some Tabu shower gel, it smells great and doesn’t linger too long.
Kilian Angels’ Share!
It ties in nicely with his heritage in the cognac industry, although I’m not sure if most non-perfumistas knows the ties he has to Hennesy.
Happy Monday!
SO glad mine is over.
9:04 pm:for Lillyjo.
XO’s
Eye Candy … this is all I care about …
Haha…..welll….me too
Is it Tuesday yet? Lol
Happy Monday back to you! Sadly, my “Monday” will last all week as we are in final exams. But this too shall pass!
Cold, rainy & gloomy, which is making me feel slothful. So much to do and no desire to do it. Wearing Amber Absolute and trying to psych myself up to at least take the dog out.
Ugh to the gloomy weather.
I saw some snow flurries last night.
I got up super early and saw some this morning, too.
Gosh, it was sunny and chilly here but I am feeling mighty slothful too.
Simple pleasures today by wearing Clinique Happy. Nothing complicated about it, but nice and easy for spring.
Ordered some candles from Brooklyn Candle thanks to recommendations from Pfsh. Also, ordered some other ones last week that I think were mentioned by LTSG and JB. Can’t wait!
Sounds like you are caught up on your candle supply, perfect to when fall weather hits
Some I got were for spring, but yes there were fall/winter ones in there too.
Looking forward to hearing your future candle reviews. 😉
I have had good and bad luck with candles. I ordered some from Otherland that I really liked, but they were pretty strong. Our townhouse is only about 1400 square feet and maybe it is just too small an area for some of the candles.
In Baccarat Rouge 540. Am I in a casino in Monte Carlo, dripping in jewels and surrounded by admirers? As it happens, I am not.
Let me say that you most certainly deserve to be!
LOL 😂 You still smell great!
But a girl can dream … you smell great!
Wearing CdK Kyoto for some comfort.
Under the weather today. Crazy, busy day at work, which is making my state of mind even worse.
Happy Monday!
Sorry to hear that you are feeling “Monday-ish” today. Hugs.
Thank you, Jalapeno. I have been feeling like that lately. I just hope my mood improves soon.
I understand that feeling all too well.
Sorry you’re under the weather, maybe an early night or a fun activity before bed might help.
I know it’s hard to do, but try and rest.
Kyoto is a good comfort scent. Hope you can get some rest.
So much cleaning to do in the house, I washed all my curtains, blankets, pillow covers. I think I am done for the day. The best part is I used Aqua Universalis scented detergent and my house smells amazing.
After my shower, I am going to wear Delacourte Olyssia.
I washed the bed pillows and the blankets last week. This week, curtains. Ugh. Good for you, getting it done!
I’m wearing Rhubarbe Ecarlate again today. I wish Hermes would make a concentree of it, perhaps it would last longer. As it is, I keep reapplying to get that rhubarb blast.
You smell great and I’d definitely buy a bottle of Rhubarbe Ecarlate Concentrée😊
Rhubarbe Ecarlate was getting a fair amount of love here when it came out.
Loved Rhubarbe Ecarlate, I used to indulge in the body cream and it lingers quite a bit even in the heat!
Chilly Monday here. Glad that I didn’t pack away all my wool socks just yet! At least it’s been sunny.
SOTD = Mugler Supra Floral. Good Stuff! There’s a potential thunk of my little decant in the near future…
I will be keeping an ear out for the thunk!
Just as long as you are not holding your breath, LOL!
🤣
Keep warm, I can guess what the cats have chosen to do.
I did not have the heat on until this evening, so they have spent most of the day on their kitty hot pad.
But when the heat *did* come on, Spooky went running for a HVAC vent.
Larry the cat likes to put his fat body flush against a vent so that he gets all the heat. I’m interested in the kitty hot pad.
You smell very nice! I am still heartless by choice!
Popping my head in to say “hi” and that I am in (non-CP-compliant) Hiris. I did a seasonal switch of perfumes on Saturday, and this is the first time in months that I’ve worn Hiris. It has made me happy (or, TBH, less glum) all day.
I think “Hermes Hiris” is a very clever name! I thought about it for this morning.
I am back from my Philadelphia trip which had many high points but the travel to and from was horrendous. After multiple delays on Thursday my flight was switched to Friday morning…. then last night my flight was again delayed. I am now getting a wheelchair to help me to the gates but they leave you on your own after that and there are just no airline people to help or answer questions or update you. I got very worn out and now seem to have come down with a bad cold, I think partly due to stress and lack of sleep. Ugh. I can still smell but am commando just due to feeling awful. Later on today I will give myself a Covid test. (On the plus side, I saw good friends, and the Art Museum, and my talk seemed to go well there.)
Sorry to hear that your travel days were horrid. 😩 I am hearing quite a bit of that from people who are flying these days, unfortunately.
I hope you feel better soon Calypso!
Hoping you feel better asap! Lots of fluids and rest…There is no help or service anywhere these days. If a robot can’t do it, it’s probably not going to get done. From restaurants to supermarkets to work/employment to utilities, ad nauseam…
I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. Hopefully you will be able to get some rest and feel better soon.
Sorry you had such a rough trip, Calypso. I hope you feeling better very soon!
So glad the trip went well despite all the troubles! Hope you are better rested tomorrow.
Hope you feel better soon, sorry the travel was a nightmare.
Another long day here, but still too short to get everything done.
I picked MJ Decadence as my sotd. This perfume is a commitment. I will still be smelling it tomorrow morning.
For anyone still reading… do you throw out your empty bottles? My daughter thunked her Paris Hilton Rose Blush and didn’t want me to pitch it. The bottle is super cute but am I now a bottle collector? I have a few retired bottles of my own that I have a drop or 2 left but I keep them just to smell.
When I was able to use up a full bottle of perfume, I would toss the empties. But if I used up something in a really nice bottle, I would keep it.
I always thunk my empty bottles, no matter how beautiful they are. I barely have space for my collection, so I can not keep empty bottles.
Long ago when I actually finished a bottle, I’d throw it out. I’d probably keep it now if it was an extra special fragrance, just for the scent memory.
I keep them!
I don’t have the space for empties but I do keep a scent library of mainly samples for comparison purposes and things I like to smell but not wear.
I throw empty bottles away.
Elizabeth Goudge was one of my very favorite authors from childhood on, starting with “The Little White Horse.” For fragrances with clever names — that’s an easy CP for me! I’ll just wear one of Sarah McCartney’s fragrances every day. She has so many with clever names.
That would work!
Good morning, everyone. Looks like some of my packages from the recent swap are due today and I am ever so excited!!
I have been bathing in Miller Harris Tea Tonique and my second and backup set (perfume bottle + shower gel) came in yesterday in it’s gorgeous gift box. I mentioned earlier that just a bottle of the perfume costs the same as the bottle + the shower gel on the website.
But today I am in House of Sillage Trend no. 3 Beauty & Grace which smells so delicious with its notes of “orange flower*”, black tea and powdered sugar. It’s on sale right now so a backup of it is also due today in the mail. I have lately been focusing on just the most favorite fragrances and they all include a tea note in it.
I am very curious what House of Sillage means when they list the top note of Trend no. 3 Beauty & Grace. As I mentioned above they write of the top note as: orange flower. But then there is a picture in accordance to this and it just looks like some tropical flower that is just orange in color. Because of the picture I was able to rule out orange blossom or anything of that sort. I am just so curious what spiece is that “orange flower” that they list as the top note of one of my favorite fragrances…
Hello! I saw your swap list and noted that you like tea notes. Wondering if you also like Chinese tea like oolong? If so, I can recommend trying perfumes from Chasing Scent, they are a small house that makes their own tea extracts and are my favorite tea perfumes of late 🙂
