Happy Hump Day! It's also Dutch-American Friendship Day and Bicycle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm taking community project points in Hermès Jour d'Hermès, which I included in 5 perfumes: pretty spring florals.
Reminder: on 4/21, wear a spring floral, or any fragrance that makes you think of spring.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing a perfume oil from Alkemia called Old Books and Fresh Flowers. This is from this year’s Spring collection.
Did someone say a perfume that smells like old books? 🙂
Good morning!
I am rocking Iris Poudre today. Feels perfect for a cool spring day.
Spring allergies still in full force but masking outdoors is helping some. Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday <3
I love Iris Poudre, you smell fabulous .
i recently mixed a sample of it with unscented lotion and the result was amazing, just saying!!!
Oooh what a good idea, I will try it! Love Iris Poudre — it doesn’t work for me in the cold so I am excited for the warmer weather!
That’s one of my favorite scents by far.
You may not have seen my post last night, but wondering which scent you like from the Brooklyn Candles. Always looking for something new and they are a great price.
Kris, I definitely thought of you when I decided on Iris Poudre!
Apologies for missing your message! I have tried Kyoto and Catskills from Brooklyn Candle Co, of which I enjoyed Kyoto more. My next buy was going to be Santorini (I liked how it smelled in store). I gift them often and they are usually well received.
They also do a discovery set, I believe!
Thanks so much for the information!
Most welcome! Do report back if you find a candle you like <3
Wearing a mask outside for the same reason you are. The cars in my area all have a coating of greenish-yellow pollen now.
That sounds a lot like the pine pollen deluge we just suffered through. I hope it gets better for you soon!
Ooof that sounds scary. I switched to Allegra from Claritin today and it seems to be working better for me. I talked to a doctor and she said that sometimes your body might get used to your usual antihistamines. Allegra + masking has made today’s commute a lot more bearable!
I am wearing vintage Diorella parfum from a couple of drops left in the bottle. I found this at a vintage sale this weekend. The person who sold it to me had a huge collection of vintage minis. Needless to say, this is out of this world.
After a couple of summery days, we are back again to colder temperatures and coats.
Today it’s cooler in my neck of the woods.
I just love sales where I find perfume! Bet you smell wonderful.
Congratulations on your find!
I’m glad you found a treasure. 😊
Fun to have come across minis at a sale.
What a great sale to come across! Did you get any other minis?
“Inquiring Minds” want to know! Love seeing perfume at a tag sale!!
yes, I did actually, how can I resist?
I got Safari edp bigger bottle not a mini, ivoire, Houbigant Chantilly perfume, mini Nahema parfum, le Dix edt mini and Dioressence edt mini.
Jackpot!!
Wow!!
Twins with Robin in Jour d’Hermes this morning. I love everything about it, from the grapefruit-y opening through the spring flowers and all the way to the pale woods at the end.
I love that one, too. Have no idea why I haven’t yet picked up a bottle of it yet.
JdH has a wonderful grapefruit note, but I think I prefer the Absolue.
Very late but hey twin!
I wore TF Ombré d’hyacinth yesterday. Why aren’t there more hyacinth fragrances? I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’m in Le Labo Jasmin 17 today, which is just about as pretty a floral as I can imagine .
I totally agree with you about hyacinth being underrepresented. Thank you for reminding me to spritz some Tauverville Hyacinth and a Mechanic this week, an odd and wonderful spring fragrance.
I never got around to trying that one, though the name is charming.
Hyacinth and lilac, both very hard to find a good one.
Baccarat Rouge 540
Alice and Oliva pattern blouse CdP lippy in Midnight Magic
Tea is Passage by August -it’s like a dessert but tea.
I am into all things sweet this week!
You smell great! I recently let my daughter try my decant of that one. She wears and likes Ariana Cloud, and I was like “here, try the expensive version.” Needless to say she loves it and has been wafting it all over the house. I may have created a monster.😂
There are many dupes of this one. I think Bond No 9 Tribeca smells like it, also Absolutio is another. None of them are as cheap as Cloud though.
I am not sure it’s just me, but BR 540 doesn’t smell long on me. I am sure it’s there but I can’t smell it.
Mr L and I started to watch Frontier last night -it’s nothing like The English so far but the only similarity is the same time period I think. It’s really graphic. I think I covered my eyes most of the show…
Hmm, I haven’t heard of that one, I will have to look it up. I was trying to think of other westerns and the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Godless on Netflix. It wasn’t nearly as good as The English but it was set in the west in the late 1800’s.
Love that scent.
I was going to ask you if you use the Nest Moroccan Amber candle year round or just in the cooler months?
Just in the cooler months. It is very cozy. But my little ones will ask me to light it all year round. It’s a candle I have repurchased and gets lots of compliments when I have friends over. It’s strong-if you don’t want to light it-literally taking the lid off will fill a room with it’s scent!
If you are looking for something lighter I found this article for you https://www.vogue.com/article/best-spring-candles
I haven’t tried any of these but the descriptions are nice
Thanks for the information and the link for others. I love trying new candles. I have some I really like from the Tyler Company and just got one from Ergo when I was in North Carolina.
Using my last couple of drops of nineties-vintage Chanel Antaeus. I love the way it starts out jangly and discordant, all these herbs crashing heedlessly into one another, and gradually turns into a smooth, refined leather chypre. It’s what confidence smells like. Sorry to see it go (but I have a zillion other things to wear, so I will go on somehow).
Oh, you smell great. Antaeus was so good.
Wearing a pretty green floral perfect for spring, Zoologist Cow, for a pretty spring day.
You smell great, I liked Cow when I tried it, I think I have a sample, it’s a little odd in a good way.
Oh, thanks for posting that link. I have a sample of FM En Passant. Such a photorealistic lilac. Wondering if it will ever get warm enough to bloom the lilacs 😉
Wearing Atelier Cologne Iris Rebelle.
Sunny, cold and windy day. Having coffee and looking forward for the week to be over!
Happy Wednesday! 🌞
For me, this week has flown by. I could have sworn that it was Sunday a couple of hours ago!
It has been a very long week for me so far. It is just Wednesday! 😫
Ditto!!!
Smelling great!
Thank you, Lillyjo!
Since it’s still sort of wintery here, I’m in PG Myrrhiad. Busy cleaning house as I have a friend coming over soon to visit the new apartment for the first time.
How cool! Enjoy that visit!
Hope it was a great visit!
We are having slightly cooler weather this week, so I’m trying to wear cooler weather perfumes for the last time before I have to store them away until (ugh) October.
So, I’m in Rania J Ambre Loup, plus some vanillas I’ve been decanting for swapmeet buddies.
Happy Wednesday, y’all! 🌞😎
I LOVE Ambre Loup! and it last for ETERNITY on my skin…
Bowing to the wintry weather in Papillon’s Anubis.
Wearing SmellBent Gypsy today while toasting sourdough, making scalding coffee and slicing a very ripe, almost too ripe, banana. Rained off and on all night but currently in OFF mode. I hope it lasts!
Oops! Sorry AnnieA!
Your OFF mode is now my ON mode.😉🌧
Egads, so sorry! 🌧
Lol, no worries, this is spring in the Midwest unfortunately.
Hope your good weather lasts.
Thanks! I’m hoping 🤞🏼
Didn’t check in yesterday, but I work AS Friday for spring and honeysuckle and happiness. Today I’m wearing Tauerville Hyacinth and a Mechanic. I’m off to warmer climes today (at least for the first few days, then it’s going to get cold in the Midwest, too, apparently).
Shhh, please no. I miss our 80 and sunny!
Another Midwesterner here: I must say, the 80/sunny was a bit too much, too soon for me! But I love how green everything is becoming!
You smell great! And yay for all of the hyacinth love today💕
House twins, I’m in Eau des Merveilles again. Thunked my travel spray. I will replace it eventually. This is the second travel spray I’ve gone through so I’ll probably go ahead and get the big bottle next time.
Thanks for the kind mammo words yesterday, I had results back by the end of the day! Mychart is an amazing tool. The results were as I suspected, reassuringly boring.
The cookie truck is at work today! Some of you may remember I posted about it a couple of weeks ago, chocolate chip cookie swirled with brownie topped with sea salt. I’ve been waiting all week!😋
Enjoy the cookies, they sound delicious.
Thanks Aurora, they are delicious! I got some extras to bring home to my family because I could not stop raving abut them last time.
I love that scent, but it either doesn’t last on me or I just can’t smell it long on me. I bet I have tried it a dozen times and then finally give up. Probably will end up trying again sometime 😊
I love it too, it’s one of those easy to reach for and works anytime any season.
Yay for boring mammogram results!
My thoughts exactly!😁
Yes, YAY! for boring results, and for food trucks near work. The Jamaican Jerk Grilled Chicken truck is back in our neck of the woods, and I must stop by soon!
Ooh, that sounds delicious!
OH! Jamaican Jerk is so yummy! 😋
I really should sign up for Mychart. I’ve been pretty resistant but it sounds like it is helpful to have.
You should! I love it. It’s become easier for me to schedule appointments and communicate with my doctor than trying to call, where I end up getting transferred multiple times and on hold.
Today is also National Cat Lady Day!
https://nationaltoday.com/national-cat-lady-day/
A happy one to you Calypso, thanks for the article.
Excellent!!
Thanks!
How appropriate for you!
Many sprays of Chanel No 5 L’Eau.
Temperatures up and down here in the Midwest. We will probably go from winter to summer. That’s how is works sometimes.
Totally. Summer last week, back to down parkas this week.
You smell great!
Crazy weather patterns lately.
You smell lovely!
Thanks my friend.
No. 5 L’Eau is one of those perfumes that can work no matter what the weather decides to do.
Isn’t that the truth? I normally just wear it during warmer months, but it literally can go anywhere anytime. I don’t think there is is a place or time that would be inappropriate.
Co-sign!
Trying out Bel Respiro for the first time today. It’s perfect for the CP, super green with grassy notes over florals and that Chanel thing.
I love the name of that perfume, I bet you smell great.
that “Chanel thing” lol!
That sounds lovely!
Ariane apples and yogurt smoothie
Today I went with Météorites, the first version, it has a classic, violety, powdery vibe, not fruity like the newer Le Parfum version, it was a pleasure to wear it in the spring weather. Tonight it’s Angels’ Share, I sure appreciate my tester bottle which was a third of the price, bought blind, the scent has slowly grown on me to become a favorite.
PS It will be lentils for dinner.
Every time I read your morning smoothie, I remember I want to get a USB rechargeable personal blender. Then, because I’m old, I totally forget until your next post. 👵🏻
😀 Oh I’m all for your getting one, it has upped my fruit intake so much, it’s the main reason for having one, I think.
Enjoy your smoothie appetizer and dinner! 😉
😀 Thank you Tulipani, everything has been consumed now and I should be in bed around now,
I know the current version of
Meteorites is totally different but is it still pretty good?
I’m was not impressed IIRC, it’s a fruity floral, nothing special, while the original really has the violetty smell of the make-up meteorites pearls.
I can’t picture Meteorites perfume as a fruity floral. Does not compute!
Wearing Kayali Deja Vu White Flower 57. Not a spring floral, definitely a late fall sexy date night vibe. It reminds me of a few different scents at once, like a group of ladies with one wearing Alien, one wearing Elie Saab, and maybe one wearing Dior Addict? It is very familiar** and I like the mix more than I expected to.
**Okkaayyyy….now I get why it is called Deja Vu lol!
Off to look this up: you make it sound, well, like a lemming!
It’s fun, definitely a sample I will use a few times at least. It’s not particularly long lasting, which I like because if I have an exercise class in the evening I can apply in the morning and not be frantically scrubbing my wrists 8 hours later before class so I don’t knock anyone out lol.
I did write off Kayali as a brand, but now I’ve got three I liked from them (Yum Pistachio gelato, Deja Vu, and Also like Invite Only Amber). I wasn’t that into the Eden Juicy Apple one, the top parts were fun but the laundry musk was too much febreeze on my skin. Will wear Hermes Jardin Sur le Toit for my apple fix.
Have you tried Sweet Diamond Pink Pepper? I like that one too.
Haven’t yet, but am about to buy a purse spray of Deja Vu so will order a sample of it! Thanks for the tip!
Today I’m retrying Masque Milano Ray-flection. It’s nice but not something I need more of. I prefer Dolceaqua, their other mimosa option. Ray-flection does have a lovely mandarin top note, and the perfume actually reminds me of Fresh’s Violette.
Yesterday I wore the only grape hyacinth perfume I’ve ever heard of, DSH New Hope…is Where We Dream. It’s lovely, and I may need a larger bottle after I finish this 5ml.
I honestly don’t know what grape hyacinth smells like, even though I’ve got them in the yard.
Go pick one and take some sniffs! It was something I only thought to smell about 4 years ago.
Will try to find one tomorrow if I am not too late for the year!
I think I have a sample of that DSH perfume and really liked it when I sniffed it again the other day. Thanks for the reminder to go back to it.
Oh yay, enjoy your sample!
Love the tulip picture you picked today, Robin! 🌷🌷🌷
Another cool, sunny and windy day here. More Fire Weather Warnings are out, and another wild fire broke out in South Jersey yesterday. Things are kinda crispy right now…. Please send rain!
SOTD = back in Cuir de Lancome. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
I’m getting rain tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully it will head your way!.
Fingers crossed!
“CdL” – w00t!
Crispiness is not good in this dry weather and soon to unseasonably warm weather coming.
Yeah. It’s supposed to be around 90 again on Friday.
Isn’t that pretty? I want to plant some tulips that color.
SotD, well I could say nose fatigue from doing decants for the Swapmeet! Of the five I made today, I think I am still smelling Coco edp and Dior Homme Eau for Men. That’s a good thing! They beat Mandarine Mandarin, Babycat, and Dune – though a wonderful waft of Dune swirled into my hallway to surprise and delight me as I was going back and forth in the house. Come to think of it, Babycat and MM were the ones that I could decant without the spray-into-a-funnel method. I am going to order more of the disposable spray nozzles with the stem attached. They don’t fit all bottles, and I won’t pull too hard on the manufacturer’s nozzle, but if you cannot use a pipette, they are way better than the funnels. Chime in if anyone has other decanting tips!
Excellent tip about those spray nozzles! This is the first time I have heard about them.
I’ve used the funnels, syringes, other contraptions but the best method for me is still spray into the atomizer body method. I wear thin plastic gloves and hold the atomizer body with a napkin. Some particularly leaky bottles also get held with a napkin. So far so good.
I’m still wearing fall perfume. Today I chose Gucci by Gucci ( brown square bottle)
In people are narcissistic moron news… Today at work we had a medical emergency. When the EMTs were there, the delivery truck driver came and asked my manager to have the ambulance move so he could back up to the dock!. Um… no!
NO WAY!! yikes.
Yes way! People are just plain nuts!
😲
Yep!
*eyes swirl*
I CAN believe it. I saw something similar ages ago, where a lady was complaining about ambulance fumes making her baby fuss. Take the kid indoors, ffs!
Oh boy! Have you seen an ambulance get into an accident? Yes I have!
I live in a townhouse with the parking lot up front. I have a reserved spot right in front of my unit but there is one spot that is by my kitchen window. I get annoyed when people park their nose out if they are the type to warm up their car. I don’t think one has to warm up the car anymore but habits die hard. I have not had to complain yet but the moment there’s a pattern, I will lodge a complaint because fumes are no bueno.
There’s a “puffer” law in NJ which states that people aren’t supposed to idle their vehicles. I see the signs warning about it at Wawa stores.
SOTD is aligned with the CP: Nicolai Odalisque. Citrus white floral with lily of the valley and tangerine foremost. Bought in London at the stand-alone small Nicolai shop there, a long time ago (2010?). Smells the same now. I like it but don’t wear it much: it’s got little to no projection, and is very much a skin scent.
People used to talk about that one on MakeupAlley, years ago! Don’t see many mentions these days, but LizzieB bought a bottle last month.
SOTD = Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa
Love ❤️!
In other news…I am 31 days away from my cruise and I still have a few things to do such as book my hotel room, among other things. I just sent off my request for shipboard credit for owning Carnival Cruise Line stock and this must have been the fastest turnaround ever for me because in 26 minutes, I got an email stating I will get my $100 shipboard credit. Woohoo! The amount varies based on the length of the cruise. Even though the stock had lost its value, the shipboard credit I had received over the years way more than made up for it. I believe you need a minimum of 100 shares to get the credit. It’s worth it if you plan on cruising.
You smell great! That’s a wonderful perfume for “Keep Calm and Waft On!”
That’s pretty neat about the shipboard credit. You are the Queen of knowing about discounts.
I started the day in Diptyque Essences Insensées Rose de Mai EdP. What a beauty! I don’t understand why this didn’t become their Eau de Rose (which I like but it doesn’t feel as complex as the Rose de Mai).
I bet you smell wonderful.
You all smell great! SOTD is No 5 Eau Premiere. Hoping to sample the Kayali Pistachio tomorrow since Sephora is having their sale.
