It's Monday, plus International Whisk(e)y Day and World Theatre Day. Birthdays: Edward Steichen, Ben Webster and Sarah Vaughan. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in CB I Hate Perfume M #2 Black March.
Reminder: on 3/31, for Eiffel Tower Day, wear a perfume that says Paris to you, or that has Paris in the name, or ?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good Morning-
Sipping tea this morning and getting ready to volunteer with students on the west side.
Wearing makeup this morning-EL double wear, Chanel mascara and some lippy that I haven’t picked yet. viseart eye shadow
My perfume is the oud oil from Maroc, I love it and there are soft florals but no dominate rose smell and oud of course. I would like to find a perfume similar when this runs out. Or another oud in oil form.
Reading Let is come down, a recommendation from Robin and I am devouring this book.
EL double wear is a great mascara, although slightly edged out by Lancome’s Definicils in my books.
This morning I am putting OJ Muscat up against ELO Rien. The fomer is smelling a bit like the frankincense listed in its notes. Which one will be longer-lasting? Good thing I am wfh this morning…
I love Lancôme mascaras- I will try this one. The one I own is idole
I am putting your OJ on my list of must smells. I own a FB of Royal Elixer which I love. The other, Rein, I have never heard of
I finished Sheltering Sky at the weekend. I see that Jane Bowles Two Serious Ladies has just been reissued, saw it in our bookshop.I haven’t read it but am curious ( not set in Morocco)
What did you think?
I loved that book.
I did see Two Serious Ladies come up at the library when I was doing my search. Maybe I should put it on my list
I am enjoying Let it Come down, I think more so that I am use to Bowles writing and so far it’s based in Tangier. He has created another love triangle, and curious to see where he will take the reader with this…
So glad!
ltsg, 19-69 makes a fragrance called Kasbah. You can get in a 10ml size. I love it. It’s smoother than Aesops Marrakesh, yet very reminscent of a souk and Morocco in general.
Thank you. 10ml is a sample size right? 😇
Wearing Chanel 31 Rue Cambon, EdT for the CP.
Paris, to me, is Chanel, even though there are many other perfume brands like Hermes, Guerlain, L’Artisan, Serge Lutens, etc that I love. I may stick with Chanel the whole week or wear one scent from each brand every day. It all depends on my mood in the mornings.
Happy Monday! 🗼
Paris makes me think Chanel too, and Yves Saint Laurent.
Oh, I forgot about YSL! I have to check to see what perfumes I have from the brand.
Chanel week maybe twins! 😊
Yay! Looking forward to seeing what you will be wearing!
House twins with you and several other NSTers today!
Welcome to the Chanel club! 💃
It snowed overnight and now everything is covered in a brilliant white, so I’m in the most brilliant scent I own, Clinique Wrappings, so bright you need sunglasses, just a dazzling supernova.
The whole scene sounds marvelous
I want to be where you are. You smell delightful.
I’m wearing Jicky edt for the CP. I may wear Guerlain all week, or I may not, but I will definitely be wearing French fragrances this week.
I wish someone would wear Jicky near me. You smell smart, thoughtful, considerate, organized and generous (Yah! I get all that out of Jicky edt!) 🙂
Aha. I must wear Jicky this week. Thanks.
Nicolaï New York Intense for me today. That doesn’t *sound* like Paris but it works for me today because 1) I’m planning a trip to New York right now, and 2) the last time I was in Paris I was right by the Nicolaï shop on the Left Bank and sadly, didn’t have time to go in since I was rushing to the train.
All of that works!
If you have time during your NY trip, may I suggest the Mugler exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum for its fabulous perfume room?
Wearing SL Bapteme de Feu (which I think I like much more than some reviewers) for the Paris CP today. Wish I were in Paris right now, sitting in a cafe with my coffee. Instead, I’ll get in some yoga and then I have errands and housework.
Looks like frost in my yard this morning. I thought spring was here and planted some flowers yesterday. Hope they make it.
*Baptême du Feu
I like it, I have a bottle.
Yay – happy to see another fan.
You should go out and have a talking to with your plants 🪴 outside that they must survive. Lol
This is silly of course, but a girlfriend of mine reminds me to whisper sweet nothings to my orchids and one that was dormant for over a year bloomed this year
;). I told them to hang in, it would get warmer soon. And I can’t wait!
You smell fabulous in one of my SL favorites😊
Another one we both love!
I dove into the sample stash this morning and spritzed Kerosene Pretty Machine. Wow, so very Spring In A Bottle! I don’t get the citrus that Kevin mentioned in his review here — what I get is all green snapped stems and what I assume is linden flower, and it’s lovely! It might not be “me”, exactly, but I’ll definitely use up the little sample.
You smell fantastic SheriG.
Scent: I got into my sample supply, and ended up with Annabel’s Birthday Cake on my hands. So that’s the scent of the moment. If you like heliotrope and vanilla notes, this is a good one to try. Note: spray this in order to get the heliotrope. Applied from a vial, that note doesn’t show up much – at least for me.
It’s cold here, but sunny. I might dip into my various Hermes scents soon. I love JCE’s work.
I do sometimes like heliotrope and vanilla, and that bottle is fun.
We got our electricity back late last night. Now it’s putting my house back together. Will be wearing either Hedonist Absolute or no 5 today after my shower.
Yay, so glad!
My sister and her friends headed off into the west, in search of sunny skies and higher altitudes! I sent her off with a wave of Bal de Versailles, over sprayed with a spritz of Do Son, which both quieted and brightened the Bal de Versailles, and is smelling rather lovely at the moment. I am going to take a nap here in a few minutes and return to the more serene pace of life without visitors…
Still no clear news from Adorable Hubbie’s biopsy- looks like it may not be the low survival rate sort of liver cancer, which means it is something else, but no one has been willing to say what exactly. Very difficult being up in the air with no clear direction to focus on. Maybe at the appt. tomorrow. In the meantime, short term pleasures is the order of the day. We took Sis to see an archaic floating bog, which features plants not really found anywhere except floating bogs…
Sorry to hear about the medical issues your hubby’s having! I missed your initial post about it, I guess. I hope you get some answers at his next appointment.
When I was in Ireland a few years ago, my aunt took me to all kinds of places that she, my dad, and other family members frequented. One of those was the bog where they cut turf for peat fires in the house! And I distinctly remember those peat fires from when I was a kid and visited for the first time way back in 1969. 😊
I hope you get some helpful information soon and all the care your husband might need in the next day or so. Wishing you well.
Sending healing vibes, hope you get answers soon.
Oh, we’re half twin, I sprayed BaV too this morning but no Do Son.
Hopefully you’ll get some answers at the appt tomorrow.
I hope you find out soon, and that your husband is OK.
It’s always a bit of a relief to see the visitors off even when you’ve enjoyed them. I didn’t know about your husband’s biopsy. It’s hard to feel up in the air. I hope you get some answers soon and that he will be okay! In the meantime, I agree with short-term pleasures!
Gosh, I knew your sister was coming but missed anything about Mr. Meredifay’s health other than the recent covid. Hope all turns out well.
Hopefully you and your husband will get some solid answers at that appointment.
Ooof with not knowing. Hopefully, whatever it is can be resolved with alternatives to the traditional chemo / radiation routes.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you! It must be so unbearable not knowing.
Wishing the best to your husband.
Crossing fingers for you and your husband.
The not knowing is the hardest. Can you send the records elsewhere, as well for another analysis?
Wearing Eau de Agro because I’m sitting here waiting to have a pointless physical. Just had one 4 months ago, and now wasting everyone’s time and money to do it all over again.
“I Don’t Like Mondays” is playing (loudly) in my head and I’m still wafting Stash Privé. There’s something in the far dry-down I really like.
Boomtown Rats?
Exactly!!
🤘
That really is a waste of time and money. Hope it is over by now, long since.
FEH!
Happy Monday!
Vintage Chanel Egoiste for me today — this stuff is so good.
I have never been to Paris but suspect I would absolutely love it. I’ll be doing a week of French houses. Thinking of:
– Chanel Les Eaux Paris-Paris – not my favorite from the Eaux line but the name is too good
– Hermes Un Jardin a Cythere – again, I have a bottle and am happy to make samples, just email me!
– Guerlain Iris Ganache – thank you hajusuuri for the sample
You smell great, I wear it often too.
👍 👍👍
Have you tried the current Egoiste?
Yes! It was the first one I sniffed before seeking out the vintage. It is a noticeably thinner than the vintage IMO, but still very enjoyable.
This weekend I tried two samples from Scents of Wood and wow wow wow…both great.♥️ I tried Plum in Cognac and Vanilla in Bourbon. I had heard really good things about this house but feel a bit late to the party.🥳 Makes me want to sniff the entire line.
I haven’t tried any of the Scents of Wood range but they have piqued my interest. Your comments have encouraged me to put them on the list for sniffing 🙂
I’ve been circling around Scents of Woods for a while, and your “wow wow wow” is prob going to push over the edge to at least sample…
Hajusuuri has at least a couple of those Scents of Wood perfumes. Maybe more.
As jalapeño said, I have the range from the past two years. They are doing something funky with NFTs that I don’t fully understand nor do I really care about being a part of a crowd-sourced perfume idea so I am skipping out on a subscription.
I’m developing a crush on a fruity floral. Someone gifted me this dabber-sized sample of MDCI’s La Ravissante. Its an easy one to like and forget, but now I want MORE. I just looked up the nose. But of course. Another from the man who has had an outsized influence on my perfume preferences: Bertrand Duchaufour.
I agree — La Ravissante is really nice. I have a sample, and would have a bottle if it were less expensive.
We have snow in our forecast, which seems pretty unlikely as it is currently bucketing down and around 6C. Still, there might be some drifts on the hills …still too dark to see. I am perfumer twins with Oakland, wearing Al Oudh. Love this scent.
Oudh twins..
Horribly early for snow, yuck!
Snow!
I’m wearing Wit this morning. I remember when it was first released to rave reviews, and then people stopped mentioning it. I put on a little dab this morning and it is just right for a chilly spring morning. In hotter weather it gets too sweet on me.
You smell lovely. I have the dregs of a sample left…thought about buying it but it was discontinued by the time I got around to it.
If they still sold it I think we’d still hear about it!
Paris means Chanel to me so I’m doing a Chanel week, since I missed Chanel week in August while we were traveling. Today it’s Coco Noir. Nothing earth shattering but a lovely, elegant perfume.
It was Bal à Versailles this morning, it’s still very strong but I sprayed Mont Blanc Femme this evening, it’s the EDP, I also have the EDT which I like more IIRC, it’s very fruity but not obnoxious thank God, I got them years ago.
Bal a Versailles will never ever be called a shrinking violet of a perfume!
It’s still going strong on the sleeve of my cardigan.
Eight months after booking the flights, the day has arrived. My sister-in-law and I Ieave for Cairo this afternoon. I still find it very hard to believe that I’m going to Egypt, I’ve wanted to go there as long as I can remember, and that’s a while as I’ll be 60 this year!
We’re then going to Paris for a week, so the CP is just a couple of weeks early 🙂
I’ll try to keep up with all of you on NST, but any comments from me might be a bit sporadic, what with time zones and possibly dodgy connectivity.
I’m not taking any perfume, I’ll sniff as I go. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the original Omnia this morning.
Have a wonderful time and looking forward to hearing about your explorations when you have a chance.
Have an amazing trip, Gaynor! Enjoy!
I hope your trip is everything you’ve always anticipated, and more!
Safe travels, how exciting.
Be safe, and have a fantastic time on your trip!
Happy and safe travels! You smell fabulous👍🏼
Oh wow!
What a DREAM! I hope your trip is EVERYTHING you dreamed of and MORE.
Bon voyage and have the best time!!
Have a great trip Gaynor. I hope you get upgraded on the flight, too!!!
Have fun!
Have a wonderful,wonderful time!
Have a fabulous time!
Lots of street dogs and cats there. Send them some love from us.
Speaking of dogs and cats, are you still checking out ones near you?
I visit every week. I’m always checking them out.😍 No furry in the home.
I’m excited for you, have a great time!
Starting off Paris week with Insolence EDT in the original bottle from the very generous She-ra. Mmm so happy to have finally gotten my nose on this version, and I do think I prefer it to the EDP. I’ll have to do a side by side comparison soon.
The original Insolence bottle was gorgeous.
Yes, I love it!
Good Afternoon!
1) A busy tech day that began at 6 am.
2) Am in Gabrielle Essence, which is zesty and charming and exactly needed to keep going through multiple meetings, fixes, a spin class and painting my upstairs (second coat)
You are keeping busy!
YUP!
I am sure I will sleep well at the end of the week!
I will try to wear a French house all week. Today I am in LPRN Couture. In my opinion it is a sibling to Rose Cherie. I really should do a side by side.
I’ve been meaning to share my dry skin find ( for face) I have been useing The Ordinary Squalene oil every day under moisturizer and it has made a difference with the dryness. It’s a really good price too.
Congrats on finding something that works for your dry skin! I am stuck in a good rut with La Mer.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about The Ordinary. I have a travel size of one of their cleansers waiting for me to try.
Love that oil! I’ve been using it under Avène Tolérance and it’s a great combo. The Ordinary if one of my favorite lines after Paula’s Choice. Both ate affordable and effective.
Hiya NST.
Unfortunately my funk returned today, and it brought a friend. So in addition to no motivation, I had some anxiety. This sucks.
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 Poudre, from the Sample Stash. I needed some perfume armor today.
You at least smell good. I hope your funk resolves.
Thanks. This one might stick around for a while.
Sincerely hoping you feel better soon Jalapeno.
Just going to have to take each day as it comes, amiga.
Sending you a big hug, Jalapeno!
Thank you tulipani.
The Funk(tm) and all their friends can go take a hike!
*perfumed hug*
Would not hurt my feelings any if The Funk(tm) and its friends pounded some sand.
Adding more hugs and positive thoughts.
Hugs especially appreciated today. I had a rather good crying jag this afternoon.
I understand that feeling. Crying always gives me some relief. Let’s hope for better times to arrive soon.
Sending you some love, friend. Hang in there, and do take care of yourself!
Thanks pfsh.
Nothing puts you in a slow funk dive faster than interpersonal struggles. They are so hard, and I hope there is a resolution to the funk coming your way soon. 😣 Sometimes it’s a good idea to get counseling even if the other half is not willing to participate.
The pandemic put some of the issues on pause, but now I think things are headed back in the direction they were in 2019. It might be too late for couples’ counseling…
I’m sorry, Jalapeno.
The Funk and Friend can be too overwhelming. I’d give yourself the needed time to be unmotivated on some of the toughest days. Its not just being unmotivated, you need a break. Can you go to a nature-y place for a good walk or sit down? A cafe to spend time just by yourself? I find myself defeated, and if I go to the beach, play with animals, or a cafe-anywhere but home, I feel better.
HUGE hugs.
💜
I know enough now to “Let It Be” if I need to.
Unfortunately, nature areas are a bit of a haul for me to get to. You know it’s bad when you have zero interest in driving, even if it is to get to something desirable.
I do get plenty of kitty snuggles from Teflon the Wonder Cat. She sleeps next to me in bed.
Take it a day or minute at a time. I’m so sorry you are dealing with funk n friends. Big hugs.
Oh no, wishing some good things come your way soon.
SOTD = Guerlain Shalimar Mexique
I know, too lazy to copy and paste from Fragrantica. It’s a good one!

I had a cr-p ton of laundry yesterday and it’s not even bedding day! But no worries, it’s actually one of my favorite activities!
64 days and counting until my first cruise in over 3 years! I’m starting slow with the train ride to Boston and back … I’ll have to decide when I’ll be comfortable taking a plane…
Cruise sounds exciting! What route will it be going on?
Boston – Portland – Halifax – Sydney – Bar Harbor – Boston
According to my app, I’m 53 days away (I miscounted by 10 days!)
I was less uncomfortable going on planes when everyone had to wear a mask. I have no desire to do it now.
My sister asked me last night if I wanted to walk the Camino next year and I told her we’ll see how I do with this no-fly cruise first.
Boston?
If you choose to stay another day there, let me know! Otherwise, I might have to come to NY to see my peeps, spring or summer!
Yes, yes, although I am leaving to come home when the ship docks! Maybe you should come to NY instead?
Had lunch with a friend at Manhatten Beach yesterday, we had our puffy coats on, thats how chilly it’s been along the Pacific.
SOTD was Akro Awake….yum yum
Love the beach in my puffer!
I’m wearing Azemour Les Oranges today. It’s the last Parfum d’Empire scent in my sample pack to try. Wow, what a bright and sophisticated citrus chypre! I know many here love it, I’m glad to finally know what it’s all about.
Ever since I finished my bottle of Orange Sanguine, I have been on the look for a good citrus perfume, will have to look out for this one!
How does it compare to Chypre Azural from LI?
Hey pfsh! I was just about to email you to answer your question about Le Cri. I will still do that later!
But as for Azemour, great minds think alike, when I sniffed it I immediately wondered how it would compare to Chypre Azural! I’ve only worn Chypre Azural a couple of times, so I don’t have a solid grasp of it. I will report back when I do, might wait for another sunny day to do that, we’re expecting rain again tomorrow.
Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia
Pretty.😍
Late posting with my Sotm, YSL Rive Gauche. Yay for Paris week!
Not too late!😉
😊
Wow, you smell wonderful. What a great choice for Paris week!
