It’s Hump Day and World Water Day (the theme for 2023: accelerating change). Happy 92st to Mr. William Shatner! What fragrance are you wearing?
Today I'm scenting La Belle Iseult, Morris's only finished easel painting. The painting is intended to portray Isolde mourning Tristan's exile from Cornwall; the model was Jane Burden, who would marry William Morris a year later in 1859. (Morris reportedly was not happy with the painting, and wrote on the back "I cannot paint you but I love you", but the Tate, where the painting resides, does not mention this so perhaps it is just a neat story.) I'm focusing on the rosemary in her crown, and I'm wearing Astier de Villatte Commune de Paris 1871.
Reminder: 3/24 is William Morris' birthday. Do whatever you like with the theme: match a textile or wallpaper or La Belle Iseult, or choose any motif (wear strawberry for Strawberry Thief, for instance)? Or take inspiration from his London house or garden, now under the care of the National Trust? And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in Azemour today, which is lifting up my spirits for another gray day.
Oh, you smell wonderful! Such a great scent for evoking sunshine.
The story and the painting is beautiful. Great way to start the day.
I am wearing vintage l’interdit inspired by the impossible love of Tristan and Iseult.
I will switch to SL Fleur d’Oranger later.

What a gorgeous photo! Thank you for sharing.
I’m in Carnal Flower, just for fun.
Has anyone who has ever ordered from Dame Perfumery experienced long processing times? I’m willing to wait but wondering if I should reach out.
The last few times I have ordered have been longer than in the past. My last order took about 2 weeks and I am waiting on a current order.
Thank you! I’ll sit tight then.
See my answer below for you too Lillyjo.
My last order was a few weeks so I emailed Jeffrey. He said he sometimes uses Amazon and it had gotten stuck there so he sent it out personally. Please reach out to him. He says he is getting away from Amazon at some point due to issues like this.
I am ready to dispute charges on my latest purchase made almost 6 weeks ago. Since last week, I have been reaching out to find out the status of the order, and I have not received a single answer. I am very surprised because Jeffrey almost always emails back right away. I understand that processing time usually takes 2 to 3 weeks, but 6 weeks without knowing the reason for the delay is already very frustrating.
That is unusual for Jeffrey. I heard from him the same day once I emailed him. I know he is very frustrated with Amazon and is looking into a different process. It sounded like he had quite a few complaints from customers on shipping issues. I would email again.
It is indeed very unusual. His one-on- one customer service has always been excellent. I know there are no issues with him receiving my emails, because I contacted him before placing the order and he answered a couple of hours later.
I think it’s Amazon. I just canceled my Prime Account and broke up with them for realz. They have become renowned for their poor customer service the past year or more. My last order was a catastrophe. Not sure why the emails are going unanswered…I haven’t purchased a whole lot from him but have always had an answer to an email/order/question lickity- split. My only thought is maybe they aren’t getting to him for some reason..?
I hope he gets that Amazon issue resolved soon. I don’t think he is having problems with my email. But after one and a half month, the least I expect if to get a note saying they are experiencing delays and the option to get a refund or wait longer. I wish he could have a customer care phone number to speak to someone. I love his products and I wouldn’t want to stop buying from him just because a lack of communication from his side.
Wow! That is crazy!
I ordered directly from his website. I think after hearing your stories, I may reach out as well.
I always ordered directly from him. I hope you get a quick answer.
Each time I have ordered from Dame, I have had long waits. But not hearing from Mr. Dame after emailing is unusual. ITA that you should reach out with a polite “Hey”.
I have been very polite in the 3 emails that I have sent him since last week and any further communication will be the same. He is a very nice gentleman and he has given me lots of advice regarding his perfumes, even when I am not making a purchase. I just want to believe my emails are probably landing in the spam folder.
Sometimes my emails end in the “cloud” I think. I then send from a different device like my phone or computer and then it doesn’t get lost or go to spam. Technology is a #@^*& sometimes.
I’m in Mugler B* Men, an arresting version of the original, with rhubarb and anise to cut through all that sugar. Mugler really knew how to do a flanker: instead of just some random scent with the same name, he released variations of a theme, such as A*Men in a dozen different guises. (I have four of them, so whatever the house was doing clearly worked on me.)
Yep, you smell great.
Le Galion Iris is my SOTM. It reads blue-green to me, and I’m tying it to the CP by noting the many beautiful blues and dusty greens in Morris papers. In other news, I escorted the 🐜 exterminator under the house yesterday to spray the insides of the foundation (among other places), and so far I don’t see but one of the little buggers … and he’s not moving. Take that, you! 😝
Bye bye ants!
I’m wearing Tabu this morning, and at this point wearing my winter favorites is the only thing carrying me through the end of a winter where I’ve been sick five times.
Oh no! Glad your favorite perfumes are helping, five times is too much. Hope you are feeling better soon!
5 times! A lot to deal with, glad the perfumes help, Tabu is so potent and wonderful.
I am wearing Creed Wind Flowers and drinking a cup of Ginger Peach Black tea.
That all sounds spring-y.
Carnel Flower
Betjeman & Barton black tea
Gosh have not worn that in ages. I need to dig through the FM pile.
Irisjasmine had me thinking about Dame now so wearing his Honeysuckle Soliflore. Some have compared it to Kai. I also have that scent and though they do smell similar, I find Kai has the distinct gardenia smell. I think I will keep both in my collection😊
You are on point for the CP. WM’s Honeysuckle print is as pretty as Dame’s soliflore.
And I wasn’t even trying so thank you for that.
Love the photo, but of all the pre-Raphaelite painters, Waterhouse is my absolute favorite! Love his work.
Wearing SHL 777 Taklamakan today. It’s a bit colder today but the sun is blasting again, so it’s perfect weather for a smooth warm spicy amber.
In other non-perfume news, Moby has a new home. A nice man in his 70’s came to look at him yesterday and is heading back to Portland today to pick up his wife and his money. They travel around the US a couple months out of the year from their home base in Portland so Moby will be doing what he was born to do, at least a couple months of the year. I’m very happy for all involved.😃
Having dinner with a friend later so looking forward to that. Hope everyone is getting a few rays of sunshine today!🌞
Awww, kind of bittersweet news — I’ll miss hearing about Moby, and hope he enjoys his new exploits. 🚐 💕
It is bittersweet! Moby is an absolute gentleman and has treated me so well the past five years. I’ll miss him. I already miss the ability to pull over and hop back to the Potty without having to get out of the van. 😃
That’s great that Moby found a nice new home and family! Does your new transport vehicle also have a name?
I’m so happy he found a good home! I’m going to see if they’ll let me get a photo of them with the van today. I think that will be a nice end spot for my IG account. The new rig does have a name although it did take me a few weeks to find the right one. Biggie Smols is his name, which probably doesn’t mean a thing to most people and I’m okay with that. ☺️
Yay! I’m very happy Moby has a new family! Do they also have a doggie to enjoy it?
I’m very happy Moby has found a good home. Have a great dinner!
So glad Moby found a good home!
Great news, and enjoy dinner with your friend.
Great news about Moby!
Aw, definitely a bittersweet time saying “so long” to Moby. You’ve had some amazing adventures with him.
Glad that some nice people are taking him on their own journeys.
Wishing Moby all the best in his new chapter! Maybe one day you will spot him again, out in the wild.
Hooray for finding a new home for Moby!
Thanks to a generous NSTer, I am in Diptyque Do Son for my week of spring scents.
Very busy day at work today. Lots of stress and tension between members of our team and management. I’m looking forward to the week to be over asap.
Coffee and a toasted croissant with avocado for lunch.
Happy Wednesday! 🌼
You smell lovely. That is a great scent!
Thank you, Kris!
Toasted croissant with avocado sounds like a great way to combat stress and tension–hope the day passes quickly!
Hope so too!
Croissant twins! I’m eating a hazelnut cream filled one.
We are also work tension twins. I am trying to stay out of it.
Hi twin! Let’s hope tomorrow is a better day! At least we are enjoying our croissants! 🥐🥐
Sorry to hear about your work woes! I hope the yummy lunch helped clear your mind for a bit.
Thank you, Tulipani! At least my quick lunch relieved the stress for a bit!
It sounds the perfect lunch, indulge with croissant and be healthful with avocado.
😊
I hope the work issues get resolved. Not fun being caught up in that.
Your lunch sounds great. Anything with avocado is perfection to me!
I hate drama, and I see it going on at least for another week until everybody agrees on sensitive issues on the project. It is going to be quite difficult.
What is it with all the work stress going on? A Daylight Savings hangover?
Lol! It might be the hangover! Just different approaches in the design phase of the project. It is very frustrating when some people become stubborn and refuse to discuss and agree on critical issues. I don’t know how many more stressful meetings we will need to reach a middle point. Fingers cross!
Do Son! Lucky you!! I ADORE it, especially the EDT. Seems to me to have a lingering kind of green note I enjoy.
Do Son is a beautiful scent! Very simple, cheerful and enjoyable!
I wore Zoologist Sacred Scarab yesterday and might wear it again today. It’s a scent I’m still in the process of “studying” as I can’t really tell yet if I like it or not. I more or less hate it when it first goes on but then it settles down. It struck me that scarabs must be a good design item for a textile or wallpaper, although a brief Google search of “William Morris + scarab” didn’t turn up anything. Oh well.
Do you have Camel? I had a sample once but not now and have been searching for a perfume with a date note. Does Camel have dates? Or any date perfumes in your collection?
Yes I bought a FB of Camel soon after it came out. And yes it does have dates in it. I would think they might be in a Serge perfume too but will have to look a bit to see which one. I’m blanking out on the name for it right now but it’s one of the very strong “stewed fruit” ones. Are you trying to find a date perfume, or what?
Ah, I just looked on Fragrantica and the one I was thinking of was Arabie, which I also have. It has dates. I should do a side-by-side comparison of it with Camel one day. If I do, I’ll post the results.
I am looking for a new date perfume. I had Arabie once and was wanting a replacement/ alternative . I do have Lush Sticky Date shower gel which is fun.
Oh I can definitely picture a scarab designed print! Opulent and in dark jeweled tones.
Perfect.
I like Sacred Scarab a lot more than I thought I would.
Interesting. I didn’t like it at all at first but decided to give it another try and got it in a split. It’s perhaps the aldehydes at the beginning, which hit you kind of like a big rock in the head! ow! I like it so much more after it calms down and they go away.
I just sampled that one, but I did like it. I didn’t feel the need to purchase as I have two of other Zoologist scents and that is enough.
Our power’s out, of course. No estimated time of restoration. Man, I am *over* this winter.
SOTD will be… I dunno. Will report back when I locate some mojo 🙂
Ugh pixel. I’m sorry.
You poor thing. I hope power is restored soon.
I was just wondering how you were doing with power as a few spots around my place lost power. Darn!! I hope it is not a long outage.
I was just thinking of you this morning. I’m sorry, you have really been through it this winter.
I’m sorry this has been such a long and difficult winter where you are. May the forces of spring be with you and may your mojo return in spades🌸☀️💕
Sending good vibes your way to get power back.
Bletch! What a horrible, no good, very bad Winter you have had!
How’s the propane holding out?
Drat.
I’m in Fox in the Flowerbed today, since it’s a beautiful spring day out, and I think my first daffodil in the back yard is going to open today. It also seems like it might fit the CP with the flowers.
What a pretty scent. Enjoy your beautiful day.
Love that one. I actually thought about it today. I am getting ready to bring out the spring and summer scents shortly,
Les Indemodables Vanille Havane today because cold days are limited as NYC is moving into warmer fronts. As it turns out, today was quite warm as it is.
Tea is kombucha 🙂
We’re the opposite. I’ve started putting the heaters on when I wake up …brrr. I hope you have a great day
Stay warm friend! And enjoy those heavier scents 😉 Have a lovely day too.
I suspect that we will have a few swings in temp yet this Spring, so keep a few of your heavier perfumes handy.
The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life.

I really like Morris’ quote and even more his attention to the natural world, and his awareness of environmental degradation through industrialisation. He noticed polluted waterways and loss of natural habitats and part of his response was to create beautiful, well made things that were made by craftspeople, and made to last. The problem…a very modern one…was how to make these things affordable, and not just available to the rich.
I’m wearing Lush Furze as it belongs to that period in Lush when perfumes were cheap, ‘ hand-crafted’ and responded to the over looked elements in landscape ( gorse flowers).
I’ve read that gorse smells like almond, is that the case?
I think it smells more like sweet coconut than almond. It’s almost sickly sweet when a whole hillside is in flower and it’s a hot day. Definitely vanilla and powdery/ pollen too.
I hope to see it one day.
Perfect fit, as always!
Furze is one of my (many) regrets, I really should have bought a bottle.
I’m at work today, and for the first time in a long time I could smell someone’s perfume. It was lovely, maybe Angels Share or something along those lines.
I’m in Encens Mythique.
oo..I think I will wear EM this week too. You smell fabulous
It’s a thrill having a perfume smelling “in the wild”!
Love smelling what other people are wearing! Though I was a bit miffed that I had to smell Santal 33 first thing as I stepped out of the subway into a trendy BK neighborhood the other day, hah.
I’m finally catching up with the William Morris CP, and I think anything floral and vintagey will go well, so I’m wearing Madame Rochas today.
Perfect, Gaynor!
I wore a whisper of Kyoto to a meeting this morning and it didn’t hit the spot, so when I got home I spritzed some JM Myrhh & Tonka. It’s not hitting the spot either so I may start over with something stronger like Angel Muse. It’s gray, chilly and rainy here today, I want something warming and comforting.
Angel Muse will be third time lucky I hope.
I enjoy seeing the daffodils in the neighborhood, such a wonderful yellow. I wore Chabad Orangerie Musicale today, a favorite orange blossom, perhaps even the favorite at the moment, and tonight it’s Lush American Cream.
I can’t wait until I see something bloom here. Maybe in April.
Got a call for an interview for Friday at 9. Wearing Sundowner today.
Oh, good! And good luck on Friday. We will be thinking of you 💕
That’s great news!
Excellent news and best of luck! 🍀🍀🍀
Great news! Good luck!
Yay!
Fingers crossed for you!
I’m in Neroli Outrenoir because nancyleandros wore it a couple days ago, and I’m matching it to the painting pictured today, La Belle Iseult. When you look at the full view of it, you can see a bowl of oranges on the table. We still have beautiful weather today, and I wish I was spending time outside instead of working. I’ll definitely get a walk in after work and before grocery shopping.
Oh! Yesterday I took a little break around 3:00 and stood on my apartment’s balcony. I looked up as I was taking in the beautiful day and saw not one, not two, but three eagles flying overhead! I saw one eagle twice on Saturday so I’ve had a lot of sightings recently. They’re so impressive and awe inspiring.
WOW! Three eagles at once?! That *is* impressive.
I count myself lucky to have had a couple of solo sightings in the past couple of years. 🦅
Wow, how incredible.
Nice! I can’t help but wonder what that means!
Lovely temps here today, but with plenty of cloud cover. A neighbor’s forsythia hedge is now covered in little yellow blooms. And the pollen counts are going crazy for elm, maple and cedar here. It’s definitely Spring!
Day 2 of setting up the new computer. Yesterday was getting my email accounts set up, and installing a few programs that did not come with the machine. Today I added the printer. Still have not imported my old documents, pictures and music. I suspect that’s going to be a pain.
On the plus side, the new computer is so much faster than this one. No more lags or programs hanging! Plus up to date software. I did not realize that Microsoft had discontinued support for some of the things I am using back in 2021! Ack!
SOTD = Mugler Supra Floral. Getting with the CP today with this one.
Weather twins! The forsythias and daffodils are in full bloom in my area. I saw that tulips plants are already having small buds. I hope some days next week in the lower 40’s don’t kill them.
You smell Supra Great 🤣.
No support for the OS I was on was the only reason I replaced my remote work laptop. As to your documents and files and pictures, you should be able to just copy them over. It is still a lot of work to do.
Good luck setting the rest of your stuff up.
I powdered my nose with Meteorites, and decided to wear the matching perfume. When trying to think of a perfume house to go with the CP I came up with Etro. Not that I have any, mind you.
Absolutely, a great idea–think of all those beautiful Etro paisley prints! (Confession, I have a couple of Etro scarves, purchased on sale, and a sweater, the same. Love their stuff, but not the prices!) And yes I do have their perfume, but the question is, can I find it? Good thought!
Scarf envy!
I almost did Shaal Nur today, so great minds think alike 🙂
SOTD = Jo Malone Hemlock & Bergamot Cologne
Rounded earthy and juicy bergamot, what’s not to love?

When you meet the unexpected … our Corporate Email application was down pretty much all day. I was quite busy in the morning and by the time I got back from eating lunch, there were a number of applications that were not working. Not sure what the issue is but you don’t know how much you utilize something unless you don’t have it available! Tomorrow is another day…
A day with no corporate email seems like the adult equivalent of a snow day home from school. 🙂
I wish I could say that!
The picture just screams spring!
My company had the ribbon cutting at our new office building today and our corporate color is purple so I wanted to wear a purple scent. I was thinking about Splendiris to keep with the CP, but then I veered left and went with Lolita Lempicka.
Clipper Ship Earl Grey Creme today.
Hope everything went well.
It’s a dreary blah day here.
I found out one of my long-time coworkers quit yesterday. I feel sad for all involved.
My sotd is TF Metalique. I can’t believe it’s not discontinued yet, since I seem to be the only one that loves it. Lol.
Jalapeno to answer your question from last night… the Kayali is not sweet at all. It’s a creamy, nutty floral and whisper soft. I think it will be great for spring and summer.
It was not really dreary blah outside here, but since I did chores all day it felt like it 🙂
Sorry about your co-worker.
This afternoon I stopped by my local perfume shop and joined Robin in wearing Astier de Villatte Commune de Paris 1876.
I wish I could paint as poorly as William Morris apparently thought he did😊
Waving hello to my fellow late reader👋
Hi there fellow late reader👋👋
Hey twin!
Hey!
