It's Tuesday and Pi Day. Birthdays: Albert Einstein, Diane Arbus, Quincy Jones. What fragrance are you wearing?
Points for me in Providence Perfume Co Jadeite. To match, drinking a cup of Hunan Green Mao Feng from Upton.
Reminder: on 3/17, wear green for St Patrick's Day. (This is a repeat, probably many times over.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello,
My SOTD is Iris Poudre, in the beautiful black bottle-I wonder if these 30 ml cylindrical 30 ml size was a 20th anniversary special-I don’t see it on too many websites anymore. I actually love this size and format-but it’s impossible to see how much is left in the bottle.
Hope everyone has a good day and is adjusting to the time change.
I have L’Eau d’Hiver in the same bottle. It was terrific to find the 30 ml size, and you’re right, it doesn’t seen to be very findable.
I believe they’ve discontinued the 30ml size.
My FIL left behind a little bit of his spice he uses to make chai tea. I made a type of spiced coffee, similar to one I had in Morocco. I used the spice mix in a pot with to water and then added my shot of espresso to the filtered chai mix and added a bit of milk. Tasted warm and lovely, especially in this weather! Its snowy , windy…cold!
SOTD is the oud oil I bought in Marrakesh
Yum! That sounds glorious!
Might as well wear vintage Givenchy Pi on Pi Day, hm? I was mad about it when it first came out, bought it at its launch, couldn’t get enough, but nowadays I find it a bit much — sweet and thick, juuuust this side of cloying. (I don’t think it changed: I think I did.) Well-made, though: Givenchy had a great couple of decades from 1980 to 2000.
Yes! Pi on Pi day- perfect!
They really were a great fragrance brand.
I’m wearing Mémoire d’une Odeur, from a decant. I decided to finish the week with green fragrances. This was the first green from a bag of mixed decants that I’ve accumulated.
Have always loved the name and should give it another shot.
Happy PI day! It is finally snowing here in the city and quite windy to boot. One of those days when I’m grateful to be indoors.
SOTD is the long discontinued and cult favorite Penhaligon’s Amaranthine. It’s a bit of a twist on the CP: it smells of green banana peel (by way of ylang) and the oozing sap from a broken flower stem. Astringent, but with a milky creamy quality from a lovely sandalwood base.
Shockingly windy here, on and off, but we are continuing our no-snow streak.
Fantastic SOTD! It’s weird in the best possible way.
I’m wearing the lovely but fleeting No 19 Poudre, feeling quite pleased that I got some on my sweater so that I can enjoy it a bit longer.
I love this scent-you smell great!
Thanks!
I love this scent!
Is it anything like FM Iris Poudre?
It reminds me more of Infusion d’Iris actually.
This morning I’m in Dryad, a gorgeous forest-floor scent that is evaporating from the bottle far too quickly (although that might be my imagination). Yesterday was the glory of Cristalle EDT. I could definitely do a full week of green scents — my favorite springtime perfume category.
Same here! Wearing No. 19 today and probably Cristalle tomorrow.
You smell elegantly lovely!
Wearing Hiram Green Arbole Arbole for the CP.
Cold with some snow flurries. Pretty boring day today outside. Having my third cup of coffee with two pieces of baklava.
Happy Tuesday! 🍀☘️
Ooh, that’s a great one for the cp. You smell good!
Thank you, Madtowngirl! 🍀
Boo to the cold but yay for baklava! Yum. I was lucky as a kid that my grandmother would make it from scratch.
Baklava from scratch is absolutely delicious! Mine is from my local bakery store. Not the same, but still enjoyable with coffee.
What a lovely memory, home-made baclava.
Love smelling Arbole!
It is an unusual great scent!
Yum, baclava, enjoy.
Thank you! It was very yummy!
Baklava would definitely be a pick me up for a cold and blustery day like today! 🥶
It couldn’t be better! 😀
Sending hugs and vibes for you and your mom. You smell great!
Thank you, Cazaubon! 🌷
Hi NST! Wearing Paloma Picasso again. I guess I can take a CP point for the bitter green opening but it’s the spring flowers in the middle that I look forward to.
Still snowing, still cold.
How much snow is on the ground now ringthing?
About 3″. We have had lake effect snow parked over us but it melts quickly.
Oh good, that’s doable.
I am wearing Prada Infusion de Rose and dreaming of spring. I woke up to snow , i hope this is the last one of the season.
Fingers crossed!
Everything is coming up roses twins with you. Began the day in Little Flower and re-upped this afternoon with Rose Prick. Here’s to us!
I’m in Jardin Mediterranee again.
I checked my phone to see what the temp was before I left the house this morning and it was 10 degrees! I had to do a double take and wondered if my phone had messed up my location again. A couple of weeks ago it was showing my location as the South Pacific with a temp of 79 and sunny. lol, I wish! Nope, phone was right today. Brr! That’s more like January weather, but at least the sun is back out.😎🌞
Sun here too but super cold this morning.
Stay warm, friend! Mediterranee is a lovely reminder of sunnier days
Holy Polar Vortex, Batman! 🦇
LOL on the South Pacific mixup!
Ha, I know, I thought it was too funny. I took a screenshot and sent it to my daughter.😂
Sotd is Naomi Goodsir Nuit de Bakélite, a greeny green tuberose if there every was one.
Whereas my “scent of the day” is usually one of many different scents I wear throughout the day because my skin devours fragrance, this is a rare exception and truly a scent of the ENTIRE day!
You will smell glorious all day!
Probably into next week!😬
Ha! But not a bad thing.
An especially lovely photo today! 😍
Wearing probably one of the most polarizing perfumes ever today to finally get on board with Green Week. One small spray of Chypre Mousse, one giant grimace of disgust from 50% of the earth’s population! 🤣
This single spray should last about a week without a shower or a day and a half AFTER a shower. Your choice on how long because it lasts longer than most marriages.
I like to keep tabs on the trends in middle America, from whose loins I sprung 58 years ago, and found a unique IG site that plays actual police audio of interactions with GQ Public set to amazingly sophisticated cartoons. Made in America 🤣

“We didn’t know who you were until you told us” 🤣 I’m dying!
For me it was the “good doing” 🤣
I’m getting ready to go to an IEP meeting at my daughter’s school. I always feel intimidated surrounded by the teachers and counselors since we can sometimes disagree on what goals are best for her. This year I have an advocate coming with me. I am wearing No.5 L’eau because it smells professional and approachable.
Glad you have an advocate and best wishes that things turn out the way you need them to! 👍🏼
I hope the meeting today goes well and that you come away feeling good about it. You smell wonderful!
Good luck with your meeting! You smell great!
Good luck with your meeting
You smell amazing. Best of luck!
Best of Luck!
Best of luck, lillyjo! Perfect scent.
Perfect choice, lillyjo, hope all goes well.
HATED those meetings, it’s like they are designed to make you feel you don’t know best. But you can do it!
Exactly Robin!
Its a shame you can’t just meet with the special needs teacher or classroom teacher, first. That’s if you feel comfortable.
If its any consolation, a former teacher always hated those meetings, too. Being with a parent that cares about their kid is easy with solid communication. You throw 50 people in the room who don’t see your child daily and its a waste. The parents that aren’t involved with their kid’s education don’t usually show up to those meetings. No matter how many times they are rescheduled. As a teacher, I tried my best, but I have a few kids I still think about and hope they are ok.
Good luck with the meeting. You can ask if they start to get difficult, how often they work with your daughter. Or at the start to set the table.
🙏
Very good choice of fragrance, yay to the advocate with you this time, best of luck for the meeting.
Great choice of perfume for a nerve-wracking occasion. I’m glad to hear that you have an advocate with you for it. Hope that the meeting went well!
Hope the meeting goes well lillyjo!
I hope the meeting was productive and positive. L’eau was a great choice!
Thanks everyone!
It went well enough. One thing was said that I didn’t care for, I might tell the story tomorrow.
Well enough is excellent for a meeting like that, in my book. Good for you.
Glad to hear it went reasonably well.
Great that it went well, lillyjo!
We’ll be here. 🤗
Maybe partly on topic today with Borneo 1834 — honestly, it doesn’t read as green to me at all, but a number of reviews and descriptions indicate some minor green notes.
Very cold and windy here, although not much snow to this point. I have two in-person meetings late this afternoon, so will be showering soon to clean up my patchouli- coated self.
Been curious about Borneo 1834 as I have heard it being compared to Coromandel…
If it does have patchouli, I think it reads green enough!
Points for me today as I’m wearing Les Heures de Cartier: L’Heure Fougueuse IV Cartier, which is soft herbal green plus clean horse and bridle. Really nice.
Went to the store early this morning and forgot several things despite having a list. I blame it on the time change. Better news: we have a gorgeous sunny day and I’ll get out for a long walk soon.
Your Cartier sounds really nice.
Ooh, I’m going to pull my L’Heure Fougueuse out and wear it tomorrow!
Excellent. The more the merrier!
Synthetic Jungle for me today. Too many people in my house this morning — spring break kid with no camp plus spouse who doesn’t have to be in today. It’s straining our internet connection…sigh. At least we’re having fairly normal spring weather — rain and temperatures in the 40s Fahrenheit, and not snow.
Hope the day went ok ockeghem! There’s always tomorrow 🙂
Glad you mentioned Synthetic Jungle! I bought a sample after one of your earlier posts but got distracted by other things. Very green and yet warm enough for this cold weather. 💚
Rain that will supposedly change to snow later. We’ll see.
Playing along in LL Thé au Noir 29 today. I do love this one! The only LL I still own. It’s got some green notes in it while being “warm” enough to wear in cold weather. Speaking of cold weather, I hope everyone in the path of storms today stays safe and on the grid!
And I think it is the LL I did not try, IIRC.
It doesn’t strike me as something you would love, Robin, tbh. To paraphrase one of your favorite sayings, time saved! 😉
🙂
Having said yesterday that I could do a whole week of green, I’m wearing Rouge Sarây from Atelier des Ors. It’s spicy and quite sweet, and totally not green, but it goes with today’s dress, which is sandy colours.
Then you chose right!
It was Baiser Volé essence de parfum today, the lily note is green but it’s a vanilla bomb mostly and tonight it’s Burberry Black parfum, not a perfumista’s favorite I fear but I really enjoy it – fell in love with it at the duty-free store.
I don’t understand why Black isn’t more loved. It’s the best of the line. I like the edt also.
Yes, I don’t think it did well, you and I share many perfume likes.
No need to apologize for liking whatever perfumes strike your fancy!
2nd that! And Aurora I might copy you in BV this week.
Thank you Robin, wearing BV was a treat, I hope it will be the same for you.
Thank you Jalapeno, it hasn’t been very successful as it is discontinued already but I’m glad I can wear it time to time.
I’m wearing Gucci Envy today.
That first sniff is amazing green delight.
I bought this bottle about 25 years ago at the airport in London.
Happy memories!
25 years, wow!
I always wondered about the top notes holding up on Envy. It sounds like pretty well.
The wind has been roaring like a pride of hungry lions today. So far no trees or branches have come down as a result. Wind chill was in the low 20’s when I made a very quick dash for the mailbox.
I feel sorry for the guys working on one of the neighbor’s sewer lines.
SOTD = still in Casmir. Too cold for green perfumes!
Forgot to add that there have been some snow flurries here, but nothing that would accumulate.
Cats are plastered on the heat vents right now.
I always imagine your cats, so cosy, you smell great in Casmir.
Hope the wind slows down soon.
You certainly smell cozy for the temperature. Casmir is like a warm blanket.
The Wind Advisory is supposed to continue into Wednesday. 😣
I am enjoying Casmir very much! It’s been ages since I have reached for it.
Here too. Raging winds. I am watching the redwoods and oaks behind the house whip about like a forest of green air-tube dancers. The sounds from chain saws and ambulances have been a constant all day.
Oooooooooooof. Thankfully no sirens here!
The winds were FIERCE today…had to hang on to the steering wheel for dear life.
Ugh! I am *so* glad that I did not have to drive anywhere today!
We’re paying for the streak of no snow!
I have decided that I do not like Nor’Easters under any circumstances! Rain, snow or no precip, they suck.
SotD L’Instant edt for its amber, floral warmth. Had a nice though chilly walk today – I’ve fallen off the exercise wagon so I’ll get in a few extra arm stretches patting myself on the back at NST!
We used to walk almost every night after dinner and have gotten completely out of the habit, so you get a pat on the back from me!
Mmm I could really go for some soda bread. It’s been a long time since I’ve had some.
Been doing some sample thunking so far this week. Today it was DSH Pandora and yesterday was an Ayala Moriel Ayalitta. Both green chypres though today’s Pandora isn’t as green as Ayalitta and is more vintage smelling. I’m getting an interesting school art room note in the dry down. Weirdly, I’ve been getting this scent in my nose more often recently. It reminds me of wet clay smell before it goes in the kiln. But what I’m getting from be Pandora isn’t just that – it’s also mossy, balsamic vintage perfume smell. Good stuff.
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had soda bread!
I need to dig around and see if I have a sample of Pandora.
I’ve only had it from one local Irish restaurant, and it came with really good butter if I remember correctly. I should order food from them again soon.
I’m on my second (and last) load for the season. I certainly love it!
SOTD = Lush Fresh As
If ever there was a grape bubble gum (bubble yum, specifically) scent, this is it. I consider it green overall!

Yesterday was the wake, funeral mass and repast for R. I managed to not make it to the wake (Sunday and yesterday) but that is par for the course for me as I would probably have nightmares. My friend was in a better frame of mind but she won’t get over it.
In other news, I am a Starbucks consumer and when I can, I participate in offers where I get extra stars for completing a set of purchases. Would you believe that a macchiato is not considered a latte? I called customer service as I was not credited with completing the purchases. Imagine my surprise when I was told this! I basically told them that how would I, a regular consumer, know that a macchiato is not a latte? There’s latte in it and I paid latte prices. In the end, I got the credit I was looking for but the qualifications seem to be more sensitive with this updated program!
Wakes are difficult occasions. I did not make it to my Father’s. Partly due to weather, and partly because I couldn’t handle it.
We did not have a wake for dad..we cremated his body and had a memorial service in early summer so more relatives and friends can make it.
My grocery store recently changed its rewards program. It’s more complicated and time consuming now. I am glad you got your proper credit.
Thanks!
I find it aggravating when companies offer rewards programs then do everything they can to keep you from claiming the rewards by making it convoluted and complicated.
Wearing Prada Infusion d’Iris from my mini that was stashed in my purse. I just poured it on. Made it to La Grande, Oregon. It was raining when we left, then snowed on US 84, especially heavy at the top of the mountain roads. All 100 miles of it! Not a fan!
Sitting quietly in a hotel room, watching it snow outside! Hoping for a better day tomorrow. Should be the 2nd last leg of the race.
Wishing you continued safe travels! But it sounds like you might have a weather-related adventure or two for your homestretch.
Just googling weather forecasts! This morning when I added La Grande, I mistakenly clicked on Washington rather than Oregon.
Snow plus mountains!?
I would have just decided to live at the bottom of the mountain. Lol. Be safe!
It crossed my mind!
Good luck with the drive!!
Thank you! Will check the road report in the morning.
Wearing Stardust by Annette Neuffer. Luca Turin describes it as Angel played on the original instruments. I find it much more wearable than Angel. Heading for SF tomorrow in hopefully not too much wind and rain.
Safe travels!
Many thanks!
Good luck tomorrow! I’m one of those who can’t wear Angel.
I can’t wear it either. I stick to my Angel-adjacent scents of Chopard Wish, I Profumi di Pantelleria Jailia and Stardust.
LT has a way with words! ❤️
He certainly does! One of my favorites of his from the original set of reviews in French was his description of Amarige as a warning of a conflagration upstream at a perfume factory. 🙂
Oh, that’s fabulous! I bought that book even though I don’t know French. Every now and then I feed a section into Google translate.
