French perfume house Caron has launched Belle de Niassa, a new fragrance. Earlier this year, the brand introduced Musc Oli. Both scents join Caron's La Collection Merveilleuse.
Belle de Niassa (shown above) ~ "Belle de Niassa testifies to the power of olfactory memory through the story of a quest to northern Mozambique, in a stunning natural setting, to find and recreate the bewitching scent of the mahogany flower." // "To transcribe the rich and exuberant white flower facet, [perfumer] Jean JACQUES has incorporated exceptionally powerful ingredients. Two jasmine absolutes, a fleshy and sensual “open flower”, and a sambac with petal-like and fruity accents, blossoming alongside a highly rare ylang ylang absolute. To convey the green and flavourful facet of the flower, he refreshes this white floral cocktail with a burst of exotic and invigorating notes. The crisp freshness of star fruit and juicy watermelon are blended with essence of magnolia flower. This exotic, just-ripe fruity sensation is enriched by tangy notes of blackcurrant and a green mango accord."
Musc Oli (shown below) ~ "Musc Oli is a harmony of woods, musk, freshness and intensity which unleashes an incredible sensation of serenity and comfort. This fragrance is unlike any other CARON composition. A true “UFO” for the House, it showcases two of the most stunning ingredients in synthetic perfumery: cashmeran FF®, an ultra-facetted exclusive version of cashmeran, and javanol, the most powerful of all sandalwood molecules. This duo is preceded by the fresh woody notes of amberxtreme and operanide. It reveals its woody and musky power while supported by sinfonife, an exclusive and ultra modern musk. Sacrasol gently envelops the cashmeran with its musky warmth."
Caron Belle de Niassa and Musc Oli are available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I am going intrigued by Musc Oli just by all the aromachemical name dropping. I hope it smells more futuristic then designer-rish.
Let me know if you smell it! I would have guessed it smells like everything else these days.
Thank you Robin, these releases sound OK but what I want from Caron is to re-release the perfumes they discontinued a few years back, where are Bellodgia and Alpona and En Avion?
Interesting that you feel that way. I would rather they give up on the things they can no longer make properly due to regulatory changes, which includes at the least Bellodgia and Alpona. Feel the same way about Diorissimio — Dior should let it go.
