We're marking the last weekend of February with our same old open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the last fragrance you almost bought but didn't, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Bitterly, viciously cold out yesterday, worse today, and more of the same for the next few days at least. Man, I hope this is the tail end of winter, because we haven’t had a whole lot of snow but we sure have had a lot of cold.
Today I’m in vintage Lauder for Men, which I have had for aeons, but somehow I am only just registering how extraordinarily good this is: a classic chypre underneath a classic fougère (citrus, greenery, carnation and rose, all the usual suspects) with a *lot* of oakmoss and patchouli to ground it. In truth it bears a real family resemblance to Lauder’s Knowing, which came out three years later. It’s Knowing for Men, or maybe Knowing is Lauder For Men For Her.
Hunker down, pyramus! Your perfume sounds great.
What ringthing says!
All the old chypres were so good — real oakmoss makes a difference.
Stay warm pyramus!
Lauder for Men for Her, so funny, made me snort. 🙂
gosh, yes, it’s a cold winter for sure!
Woke up to snow covering everything, not predicted by the local weather folks. It’s supposed to melt soon.
I’m wearing Zoologist Sacred Scarab, which I have been craving. So much perfume, so little time!
We’re supposed to get flurries. But we’ve still had no real snow this year. Apparently that is not as unusual as I thought…
https://www.inquirer.com/weather/snow-philadelphia-weather-forecast-polar-vortex-la-nina-20230123.html#:~:text=Philly%20once%20went%20619%20days%20without%20measurable%20snow.
You smell(ed) wonderful. When my samples of Sacred Scarab are done, I could envision it in a travel set with Civet and…one other…maybe Sloth just because it is so out of line with my usual tastes.
A dark, rainy day. Decided to try my new favorite layering combo again, YSL Tuxedo over Pumpkin Pecan Waffles B&BW lotion. Wish I had bought more of this one, it smells like maple syrup.
Plus, it’s a funny mix…YSL did not mean you to put your tuxedo on over Pumpkin Pecan Waffles 😉
Although it would be very classy to eat pumpkin pecan waffles *in* a tuxedo…
Yes! The morning after 😉
Rodin Bis – so quirky and so wonderful. Sun’s out for the moment and I am starting the day with a workout. Back later!
I don’t know if you liked the Rodin olio lusso, but Jo Malone is selling it as a limited edition collaboration.
https://www.jomalone.com/product/25956/90188/bath-body/jasmine-neroli-luxury-face-oil?size=15ml
Thanks. Too much jasmine for me. But I appreciate you letting me know about this!
Workout for me too
Yay!
Back when this launched I bought it at full price, ow you can get it for a third of that! Yes it is so interesting…
In Iris Cendre. Snowed a couple of inches last night, but seems to be melting off of the driveway, thank goodness. Here’s an offbeat piece of journalism from the Washington Post’s travel section, it’s an amusing diversion from the usual distressing news, plus whiskey-scented body wash:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2023/02/23/iowa-80-worlds-largest-truck-stop/
We barely got even a flurry. Just a few snowflakes here and there.
Darn WaPo paywall! Maybe I can read it on Wednesday, I can’t remember if the Post does a few free a month.
Good afternoon!
It’s gotten very windy today.
My parents got me a Japanese tea brewing set for my birthday.
SotD is Memo Winter Palace, pictured with said tea set.

What a beautiful gift!
Thank you
Beautiful!
It is!
Beautiful photo, what a great tea set! And those Memo bottles are often quite beautiful, but this one is especially gorgeous!
Thank you!
I always wanted one and found the one that wasn’t super big and asked for it.
Winter Palace has a gorgeous bottle design for sure.
I’m sorry I didn’t get you a chance to wish you happy birthday yesterday. I hope you have a very healthy and happy year!
That’s a great photo.
Lovely!
It’s cold here on the other side of the North American continent, as well. -2 C and it’s supposed to start snowing any time. I’m done with unusual cold snaps for the year, as is my garden. But it’s not supposed to warm up substantially any time soon.
Right now I’m still in the remnants of Eau de Protection from last night. After my shower, I think I’ll go with something big and loud and wintery, possibly Opium or one of the couple of other perfumes I have that smell like it.
It’s cold here too- started snowing for a New York minute
Reading Bonjour Tristesse
SOTD POAL, one spray today
FIL chai and stuffing myself with curries that my MIL is making 🐽
What??? One spray. Did your nose start working again?
😂
Ha!
I don’t smell anything but I told you about my neighbor who knew I had gone out because she could smell POAL in the elevator?! Ha!
Yes, you did, but still one spray? 😊
I will do more later when I am home. I find it sticks better to fabric. What do you think?
I do think it lasts longer on fabric, but the first time I wore it I only did a few sprays and I could smell it all day. The other day I did 8 sprays again. I can’t figure it out.
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2021/aug/22/a-sunday-in-ville-davray-by-dominique-barberis-review-discreet-charms-of-the-bourgeoisie?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
When you finish Bonjour Tristesse I can really recommend A Sunday in Ville D’Avray. It’s by Dominique Barberis and very simple, short novel but beautifully told. One of my favourite books of recent years.
I finished. What a beautiful heart breaking liberating book! Love love
Ok, this one will go on my list
Just thinking. I know you like reading and there is a novella called La Lectrice by Raymond Jean. In English it is called Reader for Hire, about a young woman who reads aloud to various clients. It’s a light novel but has lots of references to French literature . An afternoon read.

How many books do you read a year? You are so well read and knowledgeable. I feel as though I have my own personal librarian on NST 🙂 Forever grateful for that
Just old!
There was too much chatter about it, so I gave in and got my (Kindle) copy of The Ghost Perfumer. Curious how many other people here have read it / are planning to read it. Please note that it will take me a while to finish it, I get to read at night only, usually while putting my kid to sleep, so NO SPOILERS 😉
Hands up!
I have only read some reviews yet, since I thought Creed’s ‘fraud’ sounds like a public secret among perfume-heads, followed by Roja Dove and Parfums de Marly, and many other advertisements.
But you raised a good reminder. Why not pay a close look at the book? I will put it on my reading list. Thank you for bringing it up 😉
Kevin read it and liked it. I can’t be bothered, there were no surprises in the title after all. I assume it’s all lies and don’t feel the details will enrich my life 🙂
Enjoying a lazy Saturday in bed with a book. Thought I’d check in to NST for scent inspiration, and advice if you have it. But first, the book. I’m really enjoying Timothy Phillips “The Curtain and the Wall.” It’s 3/4s history lite on the Iron Curtain and 1/4 travel story. As someone who knows next to nothing about the border towns from Scandinavia, the Baltic countries, down to the Balkans and around the Black Sea, it’s literally and figuratively connecting a lot of historical and geographical dots for me. I have to read it with my iPad near to look up various locales and historical incidents (hence this digression to NST 😉).
So, my question. I’m hosting my mom, who is sort of interested in perfume but also thinks it is a little silly, for a perfume sampling. She had asked me for decants to try before Xmas. She has strong preferences and I was unsure what to choose. So I gave her a coupon for a perfume testing (with the takeaway being 4 to 14 decants of her choosing) with brunch at my house sort of thing… and now, tomorrow, she is coming. I kept thinking I would have some brainwave on the best way to set it l up— but so far no brainwaves! Should I have her blind sniff perfumes? That could be a lot of work decanting? Blind sniff scent strips? (I purchased paper perfume testing strips.) Just put out a couple dozen perfume bottles and decants organized by type? Wood, rose, fruity floral, leather, etc?
All suggestions appreciated.
Not wearing perfume yet, but Pyramus may have convinced me to apply Knowing!
Putting out bottles & decants by type makes sense, and have the paper strips handy so she doesn’t have to commit to trying every one on skin (just the ones that truly appeal).
I wouldn’t do blind tests as your mother might like seeing and handling actual bottles, and may be more likely to remember scents …the ones she likes…if she knows it came from the blue bottle, the bottle with the cool label etc. it’s not a test but a fun exercise. I think grouping them by notes is a great idea…three from each group? No more than 21 in total.
Hope you have heaps of fun.
How fun! I would not bother decanting but would be the one spraying the card. Whichever one your mom likes or needs to decide on, make decants.
Good luck!
I’m with kanuka & galbanumgal, just put out the bottles. Anyway, let’s face it, the bottles are fun 🙂
Done! https://www.instagram.com/p/CpG6plyrYeNGn9R2QWJQgvQjGLsl9Or0s_v5jU0/
Bet your Mother will find this *much* more fun than she thought she would! I am interested to hear if she finds a love or even a big a-ha moment. Also, curious about what food you are serving to accompany this event. Last night, I served Cabbage Parmesan and was really stumped about what to wear until I saw my Mahora.
You are right that I’ve given it a lot of thought—much more than how I was actually going to pull off the sniff-a-jig! My husband offered to serve as chef de la maison–so he baked a lemon raspberry rosewater yogurt cake (he tells me this is a thing in France? Le Gâteau au Yaourt avec des Fraises, d l’Eau de Rose et un Zeste de Citron says the cookbook by Aleksandra Crapanzano) And for the meal we are doing a classic Cobb salad. Lots of distinct flavors, I am hoping will sharpen our sniffers. I got up early this morning and prepared the bacon in the microwave so that the whole house doesn’t smell like bacon–usually not a problem but I didn’t want all the perfume to smell avec du bacon!
Cabbage Parmesan sounds great, and I get the Mahora link totally. The rich umami greeniness of both.
Save me a slice of that cake!
I saw a 50ml Envy, the leather limited edition, charging only around $70. Yet the moment I tried to place my order, it is sold to someone else. Darn it. Really a bad way to start the weekend 🙁
SOTD: Rake & Ruin by BeauFort (aka. I am pissed off. Leave me alone T_T)
Maybe I am watching Good Witch too often but things happen the way the universe intended.
Alas, I guess so. May my pennies follow a more worthy destiny. So, let it be…
I didn’t know Envy had limited editions. Is it the men’s version?
No, it is the original female version. You can find some entries on ebay. Instead of the transparent falcon, the limited edition is packaged in white leather. The ingredient list on a tester box is short, so I guess it is launched before 2005.
Envy is #1 on my unicorn list. I’m sorry you missed out on it.
We’ve had some beautiful days , warm and sunny with that late summer stillness where the only sound seems to be the hum of bees and the occasional dog barking in the distance. I tried Alien Goddess yesterday which seemed perfect. Jessica mentioned it. Vanilla, coconut, jasmine. I preferred it to the Intense version which was more jasmine and clunky. Off to see After Sun today at the movies. Town is suddenly busy as all the university students have arrived for the start of the year.
So glad you’re getting lovely warm sunny days! I can’t wait for ours.
That movie looks wonderful. I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve been to a proper theater, and I wonder if I ever will again, I seem to have lost interest.
I’ve been thinking about trying to go see that at the local indie theatre.
SOTD = L’Occitane. Immortelle de Corse
So this did not stay on the shelves too long and I am so glad I am an extrovert and was 💯 % A-OK with asking about what’s not on display! I’m happy I have this bottle!

In other news, my friend’s husband is still hanging on. My sister just dropped off food today. I’ll do my share next week or the following one.
I was going to insert something here that may violate the comments rules so I deleted it. Suffice it to say that Reddit has some pretty eye-opening videos related to racism – couldn’t be made up as a joke.
PSA on air fryer recall: Cosori brand. I am only adding here because I am a proponent of air fryers in general and if you happen to have one of these, you should be able to get a replacement. I would rather get a store credit so I can choose a different brand. I have a Cuisinart which I love.
https://www.npr.org/2023/02/24/1159240615/cosori-air-fryer-recall
I love Immortelle de Corse as well, got it in a random blind swap and ended up loving it.
Very lucky!
Thank you for self-policing 🙂
Lots of training 🤣
You would be a good one to chime into my question regarding home scents. Please see my post. I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, but want something that is good quality.
Glasshouse: After Hours (sweet tobacco and spiced rum) is pretty good.
Other than lemon or lime, I tend to stay away from fruity candles.
I love lemon, but not much into fruity candles either.
Glasshouse sounds good. Thanks!
I just saw that about the air fryers…of course, I want one because it’s the newest “gadget” but not sure I would use it enough to justify the space I’d have to give up to store it.🤔 How often do you use yours, just when making something for yourself…?
I usually use the air fryer for seafood and it all depends on how much seafood I get over a weekend. I sometimes use it 3-4 days in a row. I say I probably still use the microwave most often but my gas range is also in use, particularly for 🍳, mushroom and to heat up food I would like to keep crispy.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m not a huge fan of seafood unless it’s something like a blackened filet. I think it all has to do with seeing a live lobster thrown into a boiling pot of water when I was four. I still remember it, begging them to save it, crying my eyes out and everyone laughing at me. Just can’t eat anything that goes into a pot alive. 🚫
I had a similar lobster experience.
Looking for ideas for scents in the home whether it be candles, diffusers, etc. I have used the wax scents like Scentsy before and plug ins/candles from BBW, but I know these may be considered cheesy by many. We live in a townhouse that is only about 1200 square feet, but would love to be able to have one scent that permeates through the house. I was just looking at diffusers like Blue Capri and Nest today and was thinking I need some ideas. Help!!!
SOTD is Chanel No 5 EdT
I have a nest candle that I love-Moroccan Amber
You don’t even have to light it-the scent is so strong when you take off the lid you can smell it when I walk into the room
Thank you!
I tried an amber one by Voluspa today that was very good too. Are you familiar with that brand?
Similar to you, I have a 1300 sq ft townhouse. I can recommend Otherland candles (which are pretty affordable), and at this very moment I’m burning a Hygge candle that does scent my whole house (but I think they’re only available in Canada). I also have a Phaedon diffuser, but it only really scents the entryway (which is all it was meant to scent).
Thanks so much! I will look into those.
We had a high of 85 two days ago. Today it’s raining and our high will only be 45 degrees. So it’s a day for soup, a big sweater and rich perfume. I chose Balmain’s Ambre Gris because therabbitsflower wore it yesterday.
Sounds like spring in the midwest! I keep reminding myself that we can get to 80 by St. Patrick’s day.
I’m wearing DSH Cafe Noir as a reminder that I’m out of coffee and need to go to the store. The snow is still deep and not melting very fast and more is forecast for tomorrow. Multiple snowstorms are very unusual for Portland.
Oh no! I hope you are at least able to make it somewhere to buy coffee. Not having any is a no-go for me. I was excited yesterday when I stopped at a grocery store I don’t often go to because I was in the area, and they had Peet’s coffee on a BOGO sale–buy one, get one free! As a Northwesterner you may scorn Peets but I do like it.
I stopped by my sister’s place this afternoon and we were talking about coffee. She and my BIL love Peet’s. I don’t have an opinion.
Peet’s is good. I’m not a coffee snob, I drink mine with cream and sugar so subtle nuances of roast and origin are lost on me.
Ditto this, plus I used the flavored creamer, which I know is sacrilege to most coffee aficionados. 😬
Snowed in here in the mountains south of SF! We got about 8″ of snow Thursday night, with more at higher elevations — and we need to go thru higher elevations to get off the mountain. All the roads around here are closed, power’s out (yay for generators), what a mess. And we had a huge lightning strike nearby on Thursday night that fried some of our home electronics. And we were supposed to be going to Hawaii tomorrow, but since we can’t get off the hill… we’re not. Boo. Instead we are cutting downed trees. We will have firewood for years.
No scent yet. Do I go cozy (for the weather) or beachy (pretending I’m in Hawaii after all)?
Oh, boo! I’m sorry that your trip had to be postponed. Stay safe!
Oh no! So sorry about all of that! I say go beachy.
Oh no!! Hope things get better soon.
Sorry to hear about your canceled trip! Stay safe clearing out the downed trees!
My parents were supposed to leave today, back to SoCal, but with so many road closures and the weather, it’s tricky picking a good travel day.
Oh no, sorry about your trip being delayed. I hope your sotd lightened up the day for you.
So sorry, Pixel! I’m glad the lightening damage wasn’t worse but that’s a bummer. Perfume always helps😊
Pixel, what a mess, I’m so sorry you will miss your trip!
Hope insurance will cover the home electronics. All of ours were replaced when we got struck by lightning.
Oh, darn it on the vacation. Blah, stupid snow. We’re getting it now, up north.
So sorry the snow messed up your holiday!
Oh Pixel! I’m so sorry about your trip to HI. Can you reschedule it? Hawai’i is my favorite place in the world, my soul feels at home there. And my sweet daughter was born there. Which islands are you visiting?
That stinks! Sorry about your trip.
Looks like I picked up my parents’ cold and stuck at work not feeling so hot. Wearing no 5 edp today.
Sorry you are under the weather, but at least you smell good.
Feel better soon.
Yuck, being at work when not feeling so hot stinks. Hope you are done soon!
Drat! Hope it is short lived.
I’m in Diptyque Orpheon.
It’s sunny and warmer today, I can hear the snow melting and dripping off my neighbor’s roof.😎
I took myself to the movie Emily yesterday and absolutely loved it. Two thumbs up. Now I need to read Wuthering Heights. I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never read it. I don’t think. Mayyyybe I read it in HS?
I had the worst insomnia last night. Tossed and turned til sometime after 3. Oof. Hangover without the fun today, hoping for better sleep tonight. I guess that’s what I get for drinking a large latte in the afternoon.
I just read a positive review of that movie in the Washington Post that made me interested in seeing it. Wuthering Heights is a weird book. It stays in your mind as one thing but there is a lot more to it, and as one of my friends who re-read it recently commented, everyone in it is sort of psychotic.
It is a very weird book. I do not re-read the Brontes very frequently.
Withering Heights is a little too “mature” for even high school kids. The relationships are a too twisted for English teachers. Read it and imagine yourself asking your old teacher “But why is Heathcliff doing that??” and having the teacher snap, “Oh, go read an Abnormal Pysch book!” 🙂 The Bronte sisters wrote odd books. I just re-read Jane Eyre…
Jane Eyre is dark, but it did not disturb me as much as Wuthering Heights. Maybe it should have.
Out of the loop for many days as I have been in the No Phone Zone. Got stuck (in a campground, not in the middle of the road) due to snow and ice but was able to pull out of there yesterday. Today we have brisk temps but full on sunshine and I love it! I think there’s more inauspicious weather on way, unfortunately. ❄️
Wearing Angel’s Share because I love the booziness- better than a cocktail! 🍸I used to wondered what it would be like to be a boozy broad a la Shelly Winters in A Patch of Blue. Glad I never found out….🫣 What an actress she was!
https://youtu.be/_Fv5VFjeuAI
Oh yes she was so fantastic! I agree completely. I did notice your absence and wondered about it, but was glad to see your Insta post with the crazy dog last night.
Yeah, the crazy dog makes a regular appearance there. I mean, it’s really HER Instagram more than it’s mine…🐶
boozy perfumes are wonderful. 🙂 And no hangover! You smell divine.
Thanks, at my age hangovers are not welcome. 🚫
Wearing several sprays of vintage Quartz after my shower.
I”m also keeping both eyes on the weather as we were hoping to start heading home next Sunday. Like Deva said, there’s more weather supposedly coming down the western coast. I don’t want to get caught up in it so I’m thinking to delay the return for at least a few days, at least based on our planned route back.
Good luck avoiding the winter crud, Gail!
I feel kind of rare here not suffering from any sort of horrible weather. Indeed it is quite pleasant here today, sunny and mild with a nice breeze. I have a few kitties enjoying themselves in the sun out on the kitchen porch. Today I’m sporting my new bottle purchase Cachouli from Strangers Perfume. Cocoa powder, patchouli, honey, Tolu balsam, and tons of other notes. It’s not too subtle but it’s a fun and happy scent. I have “homework” to do for my sketching class–we have some different examples of trees to try to work on drawing. I’d kind of like to paint another cat instead but I should do this “work” instead.
My tummy is still recovering from a bit of overindulgence at a fantastic dinner that was held at a big Vietnamese restaurant downtown last night where we were served course after course, and I sampled (I mean, ATE) some of everything (plus wine too). It was in honor of a much-loved dean and hosted by some wealthy alums. Nice to see some people there I had not seen for several years.
Your dinner sounds divine, with good company to boot. That’s lovely.
Thank you for sharing your kitty pics on Insta, they warm my heart. 🙂
That dinner sounds like so much fun!
Glad to hear there are much-loved deans! Around here lately, not so much, sadly. Too much drama.
Your dinner sounds great! Are the azaleas blooming or are they over already?
Yes, they are suddenly popping out all over! Indeed, part of my plans for today is a visit to some beautiful streets where there are many hedges of lovely azaleas, and to take some photographs.
How fun, enjoy! They’re so beautiful.
The snowstorm hasn’t hit here yet, but I still felt adventurous, going out this morning to meet friends I hadn’t seen in 20 years. It was lovely to catch up with them and to hear that though there had been some ups and downs they were doing well.
I wore the well-behaved L’Attesa in case they weren’t pro-perfume, but now that I am home until further notice I am continuing on my roll with Rien.
L’Attesa is so beautiful, an excellent choice to share with friends. 🙂
I have been following your Rien roll and am thinking I might do the same thing – spend a few days with it to really see it evolve. It’s such an interesting scent to me, unlike anything else I own.
SotD = Prada Amber EdP
Hi fragrant friends, I’ve missed you. You smell great!
Here in SoCal it’s so cold, this is a winter I won’t forget. True for many of us in the northern hemisphere. Last month my heating bill was triple the usual amount. Crazy natural gas prices! so I stopped using the furnace and switched to electric room heaters. Still feeling a bit of brrrrr, tho.
I’ve been wearing Golestan from my mini almost every day since I bought it. Even with my spare dabbing I’m making a dent in it. Go me. 🙂
Today I’m wearing Prada Amber, and I like it a lot. There is something about labdanum in perfume that always makes me waffle between yes and no, but this one works. The drydown is exquisite.
My neighborhood has the delightful tradition of putting boxes of unwanted items out to the curb for anyone to peruse. People share surplus avocados and citrus and other fruit from their trees, kids toys, books, clothes, household items, pretty much anything at all. After a few days the boxes go to charity or the landfill (sob!).
I don’t often look at the free boxes. I’m trying to have less stuff at this point in my life, not more. But I spied a bit of shiny glass and couldn’t resist. Scored the half-full Prada Amber bottle, plus an ancient teardrop-shaped dabber bottle of Halston Parfum, and a very old mini of Opium parfum. They were filthy with dust, but a quick scrub gave them new life. Heavenly.
And my pink jasmine vines decided to bloom yesterday. It feels like a miracle. I’m so very happy to have that sweet smell in my life again.
Stay warm and well, everybody. Hugs all around!
Wow, you definitely did well in the free boxes category yesterday!
Oh, the Halston…would give anything for that. It was my mom’s perfume.
In other words, you had a great haul! 😀 And I love that people leave things out for others.
Wow, awesome finds, and the price was right!
Hellooo, tiffanie! Nice to see you. 👋🏻
How cool is that neighbor who leaves stuff out for others! That happens frequently here in my apartment complex. Vintage Opium in the parfum?!? Congrats on that find. As my mom would say, “you must be living right.” 😂
Love to hear about vintage perfume rescues! I need to find my bottle of Halson – it’s a beauty.
Hey there 👋! Sharing is caring and you were extremely fortunate to have seen the perfumes!
You hit the Perfume Jackpot with those finds!
In Chanel Misia EdT from a generous NSTer. I definitely like it better than the EdP. I wish Chanel had left us with the EdT as an option in the Exclusifs but I’m grateful to enjoy them when they cross my path.
I will be the last to try any of them in EdP, I’m guessing!
Happy Sunday, NST! I’m back after road-tripping down to California for a couple of weeks. We had driven down there via the coast highway and had planned to go home that way too, but a downed power line closed part of that route early yesterday. So, since the west coast was briefly in between storms, and the roads over Mt. Shasta and through Ashland were temporarily plowed and dry, we white-knuckled our way home from the Bay Area yesterday. Our local streets had icy patches but were passable, and we got in by 9 pm — in time to miss the next volley of snow that was forecast to start at 11. A very long day of driving for Mr. G — we shared driving duty for much of this trip, but I drive “economically” (read “slow”) and he wanted to make sure we beat the next storm. Plus today is my birthday, and getting to wake up in my own bed is the best gift ever. 🙂
I missed my little perfume collection while we were away, and this morning I’m sitting in bed with my favorite fleece on as a bed jacket, and wafting Paracelsus. Stemmy dark roses, very earthy. Yum.
I’m an “economical” driver as well. Sounds like you had a nice trip other than some crazy weather, which I think the entire nation seems to be experiencing right now. I saw there were a bunch of semi-trailers blown over down around Bakersfield and the Mohave area🔥🥶❄️🌧🌬
Lots and lots of downed trees, and a few places on the trip down Highway 1 where water and wind damage had things down to only one lane, but omg the terrain was gorgeous — all the rain that area got had turned everything so much greener than normal.
Nice, and also for for to add Happy Birthday! I hope you have a relaxing and joyous day! 🎂
Happy Birthday – yes to the joys of returning from even the most fun trip.
Thank you, and yes — home is great!
Happy birthday, SheriG! I’m glad you made it home safely yesterday.
Thank you! Me too — I had an eagle eye on the weather app, checking the temperature to make sure it stayed above freezing through the mountain passes. Our timing turned out to have been pretty much ideal. I guess I should be thankful for the road closure that changed our plans, because otherwise we’d be stuck somewhere on the Oregon coast this morning.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Scented Birthday! Paracelsus is a good pick for a special occasion. 😉🎂🥂
Happy Birthday!
A very happy birthday to you, SheriG, and so glad you got home safely in time to celebrate it in comfort!
Happy Birthday! Glad you made it back safe and sound.
I was in Hermès Galop yesterday, and then vintage Shalimar cologne for bedtime. The Shalimar wafts a bit of hairspray at the opening, but it doesn’t last long. I should probably keep it out and use it more often.
Headed out to a small town today to see a play with friends, so will wear a couple of light sprays of Chanel EdC so I’m not completely commando today.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday! 🌞
Enjoy the play!
SotD Cristalle edp, and for the first time in my several wearings, I am getting the peach note quite clearly. Peach and oakmoss? Yes, please! Early spring cleaning for me yesterday. Yikes how the dust does settle. We decided to have a friend over for dinner, and that caused me to look about the place and go “hmmm.” All went well and it was nice to wake up to a tidy main living area. We just won’t talk about the guest bedroom, okay? 😀
I spent the whole weekend doing chore and my house is still a basic disaster…so I won’t ask you about the guest room, and you don’t look too closely at anything in my office!
I’m still wearing remnants of last night’s Ummagumma, which is especially still prominent because I put back on the same cozy sweatshirt I wore last night. I think I might go with Fat Electrician when I put on proper clothes to go grocery shopping a little later. Yesterday I wore Tam Dao to the movies.
The last bottle I almost purchased is a one-that-got-away incident. I think it was last Sunday I got an email notification from eBay for a listing of Messe de Minuit. I have notifications set up for that search in case an older pre-reformulation bottle pops up. Well, it did and for a starting bid of $49.99. I figured I’d wait to bid until later in the auction since there wasn’t a Buy It Now option. Well, yesterday I remembered the listing and wondered why I hadn’t gotten an alert that the auction was drawing to a close. When I checked on it, it already sold for $49.99 on the 20th! I think what must have happened is the seller changed it from auction style to buy it now, either that same day or next day. I certainly would have hit the buy button so fast if it had been there for me. So I’ve been feeling sorry for myself about it since yesterday lol.
Boo-hoo! I forget if you are CONUS, but I’d be happy to send you a consolation prize decant! 😀 Let me know, kclberry in at the scape of net Dot com. I have the square label bottle, though, which I think is the next to last version.
That’s very kind of you, MossyBerry! I’ll send you an email later. 🤗
It was fairly cold last night but not cold enough to freeze the pipes so I didn’t have to turn the furnace on. Woke up and turned on the little electric heater I’ve had for years and it’s more than enough to heat the camper. Because of the fiberglass construction and insulation, the temp stays quite comfortable even after the heater is turned off.
I’m having a very lazy day, still futzing around with storage ideas to see what works and what doesn’t. T-Rex is still trying to get used to the new digs and is not happy that I have decided when traveling more than a few minutes, she is in a travel crate behind me in the truck cab. She has become obsessed with the GPS lady’s voice and as soon as she says ANYTHING, the dog starts whining, barking, and hopping around from excitement. When she hears “you have arrived at you destination” it’s like someone lit a fire under her butt. Very distracting and unsafe. So we are still tweaking things as we go to find out what works best for us.
Wearing l’Elephant today for all its bombastic beauty.
Are you fully moved into the new digs?
Yes, still finding my way around all the systems, though. There’s a learning curve. Went to fill my propane today and what an adventure that was…🤪
I’m curious about your camper–does it have a bathroom, and if not, do you just use campsite bathrooms? I can really see the appeal of having a moveable house 🙂
My sense of smell has mostly disappeared due to my cold. So until my cold goes away, it’s going to stay on Chanel no 5 until I get better. It’s the sensual elixir today.
Well darn. So sorry you’re sick Dawn.
We are cold twins, unfortunately.
I’m wearing Followed by Kerosene. It is a powerful coffee and caramel scent with nuclear longevity. I only used 1 1/2 sprays and will be fully scented for the next 12 hours. It lasts indefinitely on fabric. I also love Unknown Pleasures from the same house, by John Pegg.
You smell great Jewel!
Thanks, Robin! I’m such a lurker here, which is weird because I”m a total extrovert in real life. 🙂
And I’m a pretty much an introvert.
Hey all! I came back from a lovely vacation in Mexico with a cold. Will I always get sick when I travel now? I started coming down with it on my last day there, so I think I caught it at the resort and not on the plane, where I wore a mask.
I’m sampling BDK Rouge Smoking today. I’m not a fan of this one, so money saved.
Gonna read the rest of the comments now 🙂
Welcome back!
So many people seem to be getting sick now, though.
Glad it was a lovely vacation up until the end!
