It’s Monday and National Croissant Day, plus the Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in The Zoo (Christophe Laudamiel) Rhubarb My Love.

Woo hoo, first to comment. I’m in Felanilla again today. Might be in it all week, with the soggy weather we will be having.
Listening to Corinne Bailey Rae this morning and eating vanilla chai overnight oats for breakfast. Cozy.
Nice, pass me a bowl of oats! (And you smell great.)
Virtual bowl of oatmeal sent your way. ->>> 😊
Received 🥄🥄🥄
Ultimate comfort scent! You smell fantastic!
Thank you! I’ve needed a comfort scent today; it’s been hectic.
Great music pick. And you smell fabulous.
Thanks, sistine. I’ve been going through my soul/R&B CDs and rediscovering some beauts. 🎶
Those oats sound so very tasty!
I’ve been on an oatmeal kick – so comforting!
I’ve been on an oatmeal kick – so comforting!
Today I’m in La Nuit de Paco Rabanne, something dark and sultry for this bright cold day (sometimes it’s what you’re in the mood for).
Had to go out last night for a few grocery items and discovered that the supermarket around the corner has what they call “sensory-friendly shopping” on Sunday evenings: they turn off half the overhead lights (and all those in the upright coolers and freezers), turn off the loudspeakers so there’s no music or announcements, and switch off the hideous beeping of the cash registers (and the incessant voices in the self-checkouts). It was *bliss*. Finally some respite from the barrage of sound! I plan to do a lot of more of my grocery shopping Sunday nights.
I’ve never used my Instagram account, though I’ve had it for years and years, but I posted a picture of my finished quilt, for anyone who’s interested. I don’t even need to specify a page because there’s just the one thing on it (for now, I guess). https://www.instagram.com/pyramus/ As you can see, I love lots of bright saturated colours.
The link brings up your private account but not the quilt boo.
I thunked a bottle of La Nuit early into my trip down the rabbit hole, you smell great!
And the grocery store info….I wish there was a place like that where I am! Anything to make grocery shopping less of an ordeal.
You see how little I know about this?
Anyway, I just went and unclicked the private setting so that should be fine. I hope.
It’s coming up now. Omgee, your quilt is beautiful! And now I want one. 😂
Very cool about the shopping. It can get overwhelming with all of the noise. I hadn’t thought about the light kind of noise, but yeah. I can understand how it would affect people. As long as they are stocked properly on a Sunday night though…our grocery store always looks like a storm of locusts blew through and ate the place clean.
Sunday is a horrible day for grocery shopping in my area too.
It’s beautiful, the pattern almost makes it look like the colors are in motion! Very impressive.
La Nuit is gorgeous and they just don’t make them like that anymore.
They really don’t! I hated it when I first smelled it because it was far more sophisticated and knowing than I was. I tried it decades later and instantly fell in love, and finally got a vintage bottle last year.
Your insta is set to private!
And what a great idea for the grocery store, wish mine would do that.
Fixed, I think. I hope! I’ve never used it so I didn’t even know it was automatically set to private.
OMG, that is gorgeous! Hard to believe that is your first quilt.
When you start taking custom orders do let us know 🤣
Beautiful quilt!
Wow 😮 Very pretty!
I love everything you mentioned! Fragrance, blissfully quiet grocery shopping, and your quilt! They’re all beautiful. 💖
My closest grocery store is one of a large, local chain, and they use their sound system to advertise the store. They use a super-perky female voice, and, in the classic quote from Mr. Grant, “I hate perky.”
Oh man, I’d forgotten he said that! What a great show.
It was one of my favorites.
LOVE the quilt!!That is totally my vibe, love the colors!🙌🏻🙌🏻❣️
The quilt is very pretty!
The quilt is fantastic!
Holy cow, that is STUNNING! I love the color palette and the cross design reminds me of Navajo Textile design:
https://www.canyonroadarts.com/symbols-and-motifs-in-navajo-weaving/
It’s just Lovely! 🥰
The quilt is beautiful! And that grocery store sounds great. Wish mine did that — what a good idea!
Wow. I am so impressed with your quilting skills! That’s gorgeous.
The sensory-friendly grocery store is such an excellent idea. I hope it catches on and spreads.
Now only if they served wine in tumblers while you shop…
Your quilt is amazing, it’s hard to believe it’s your first one. You must be a natural. Everything from the color choices to the pattern layout is wonderful!
Love those highly saturated colours, how talented you are.
Amazing! I love the colors and pattern in your quilt. I’d enjoy having something like that as a bedspread.
Beautiful quilt!
Your quilt is lovely and well done, and I am going to get around to a quilt one of these days! I love your grocery store’s quiet night. I’ve often wondered about the employees who have to listen to the beeping and repetitive voice alerts for eight hours – glad for them to have a break, too.
Wow, so pretty, bravo!! I am far too lazy to attempt a quilt but I do love them.
In Dollarama the automated checkouts are constantly blaring noise, I could never work there.
I need a pick me up, so I am in BWF are helping me out
Frangipani by Lili Bermuda
Picking up snow country from the library and volunteering later today
Aha, maybe I will join you later in some Ormonde Jayne Frangipani. It is dreary out there.
Enjoy your shift!
I just feel January is one big giant Monday. BWF perfumes are helping, and books too 📚
It really is one big giant Monday.
I am wearing Chanel No 5 EDP and drinking a cup of Assam Blend tea. Yesterday I wore Chanel La Pausa.
I guess I wanted to keep the iris/vetiver thing going on with my choice of perfume today 🙂
Why not? Pretty sure I could wear La Pausa all week if I still had any 🙂
So I decided to give my Commodity Discovery Set a workout this week, especially since I am no good at this type of CP. First up was the first in the box, Gold. Too much vanilla for me, since vanilla is my least favorite fragrance note.
You can do it the easy way: wear what you’d wear with polka dots.
Wear Marc Jacobs Dot.
Wear ElDO Like This, for the pumpkin note.
Wear what fits this quote:
“Our earth is only one polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos. Polka dots are a way to infinity. When we obliterate nature and our bodies with polka dots, we become part of the unity of our environment.” – KUSAMA
(That quote actually made me think of Comme des Garcons Ouarzazate and I might wear that on Friday. But if you want to obliterate your body to the point where it fits into your environment you could also wear something that smells like earth, or Lancome La Vie to smell like everyone else, or ? It’s endless.)
And adding my usual — never feel like you have to do a cp that annoys or befuddles you, why bother?
I’m wearing Epic from the splitmeet, it smells perfect for a cold gray day. There are rumors of sunshine in the days to come, I hope the weather guy is correct!
We might have sun on Friday. Huh.
Wearing Shalimar edp this morning.
You smell perfect!
You smell nice! I will do a Shalimar week one of these weeks. I have 7 modern ones and will start in on a Saturday.
I could join you
Just my motivation! I will start on February 4th!
Sounds like a party! I’d like to join in for a few days.
Happy Monday! I’m wearing chanel 22, because every time I’m not wearing it, I wish I was!
😄 It’s good to know what you like!
You smell great! I often have a similar reaction to No. 22 — when I wear it, I wonder why I don’t wear it every day! Then I remember how many other FBs I have, lol.
I feel like I want to stop buying everything else and just start stocking up on no.22! I got a rollerball of love chloe, and it smells great, but I thought, if I wanted to wear soapy and powdery I already know what to reach for!
I am like LTSG and needed a pick me up today. I am in Champs Lunaires Rogue. Love my tuberose!
The day started out bad already and it is only 10:30 a.m. I was backing out of the driveway and my husband was in the house playing with his garage door opener. Luckily, I drove back in before anything happened. Then I get to my doctor’s appointment and they tell me they don’t have me on the schedule and my physician isn’t even in today. Oh, well accidents happen and there were no adverse effects. The rest of the day has to get better.
Carry on.
Love Champs Lunaires–will haul it out for use this week.
You weren’t the one who told me about it, were you? Can’t remember who it was. Anyway, I am so glad I purchased it. I love it!
It may have been me! Love me some tuberose.
Poor you!
I hope your perfume helps ❤️
Hugs
Thanks.
I hope your afternoon is better than your morning!
It has been so far😊
Yay.
I *hate* having those doctor mix-ups!
Especially when I called to confirm it. I knew the doctor was leaving and wanted to see her one last time.
Since things ended well: LOL re: your garage door story!!!
He has had trouble with the garage door opener and was playing with it in the house not even thinking the door was going up and down. I couldn’t figure out why it was going down while I was leaving. LOL
The neverending grayness must have gotten to me last week, because I blindly bought PdN’s Poudre de Musc. Fortunately I like it!
Along with my requested samples of Splendiris and Goutal’s Vanille Exquise, they also included samples of Le Cri and bdk Rouge Smoking. Am a bit apprehensive of spraying Rouge Smoking on skin, as commenters on Fragrantica have noted it’s a tenacious vanilla/cherry bomb…hmmm.
Wearing Poudre de Musc.
I really like Splendiris and Le Cri is nice too.
So glad it was a good blind buy!
Gypsy Water for a day that had all 4 seasons!
Random rhetorical question:Is great, exceptional customer care too much to ask for, especially when you have been an avid supporter and advocate for a brand?
$#&!!
XO’s
Ha! Very little in the way of customer support here, whether you support a brand or not. Maybe you need to communicate your displeasure to them directly?
Email typed out and I saved it to the drafts folder, then just deleted it.It’s the disappointment I feel that bugs me the most.
Exceptional customer care? What’s that? 🤨 I feel your pain, JB. It’s on its way to becoming extinct.
Sadly true.
I’d be happy with Acceptable Customer Care
Haha! Me, too!
Exceptional Customer Care was an Endangered Species back in the 2010’s.
This made me laugh.
Got back in the boonies last night and I’m exhausted! 4 nights of not sleeping well and the stress of many things happening at once has worn me out.
I’m still commando as I had to be at the post office first thing to make sure my new Florida plate came, my temp tag was only good through today, and I would be in a jam because I came back to a dead Van battery and have nothing to drive….
Anyway, I’ll wear something appropriately celebratory because the plate DID come and now I can drive the new rig legally. Maybe Taklamakan as it’s very cold here and it was recently mention this weekend.
Hope everyone has a good Monday!
Your new ride looks AMAZING!! Saw it on Instagram. It definitely deserves something celebratory.
Thank you! I love it! It’s very fancy for a very non-fancy me. I’ve already learned to appreciate the heated seats and steering wheel. Lots of bells, whistles, and beeps that startle me. I loaded it onto the truck Saturday with the whole RV center looking on. Talk about pressure! 😅
How did we get by before heated seats and steering wheels!
Right? Now I’m spoiled for life!
I’m glad the plate came through in time! I hope you sleep well tonight.
Thanks! I stayed in the van last night as I haven’t got anything in the camper set up yet and I slept like the dead! 😴
Good news! 👏🏻 Beautiful frag, too.
Thanks!
Yay for getting what you needed in the mail exactly when you needed it!
I have to say, I thought the state of Florida would be the fly in the ointment for this entire process, but nope! Dealership was a complete cluster, but Florida tag agency was so helpful and spot on everything!
Congrats on your new rig!
Thank you!
Doing a week of Thunking! Wearing VC&A Moonlight Patchouli. Very nice, but not enough to make me replace the decant, so it is thunked forever!
Last day of warm temperatures. They will start dropping badly tomorrow evening. Cold temps and cloudy skies have become unbearable already. What a long and boring winter season! I can’t wait for it to be over!
Happy Monday! 🌼
February usually bothers me much more than January does. I think it is because January is a break from all the crazy of the Holidays… 🤪
I think February bothers me more because at that point I am already fed up with the cold weather, and in absolute despair! 😖🤪😀
We are thunking week twins!
Yay! Happy to have company!
I’m working on a VC&A sample of Moonlight Patchouli. So far, I could see another decant, but it’s not FB worthy for me, either. I really enjoy it, though, so I think you smell wonderful.
Thank you MossyBerry!
Moonlight Patchouli is a very enjoyable scent and I agree is just decant worthy. If another decant falls in my lap, I will use it, but definitely I will not buy it again.
I think there is an extrait version out now, would love to try that.
Our temperatures are reasonable, but it’s very dull and grey, and that’s the forecast for the next week. I’m wafting light and sweet, but not too sweet, with Guerlain AA Figue-Iris.
Dull and grey here too Gaynor!
12 hours sleep
8 nights in a row
must get up at 5 on Thursday for flight to see my sissy finally
lots of recruiters to talk to today
Chilly and we had rain last night.
Going to settle in an amber after shower.
High five for all the good sleeping! Enjoy your visit with you sister! Lots of recruiting texts/emails here, too. It’s never a bad thing to have potential work waiting in the wings!
I hope your journey tomorrow is smooth and hassle-free!
which Amber did you pick.
I am jealous of you and your sleeping
Safe travels to you later on this week! 🛫
Nothing is coming to mind for this week’s CP. Well, the little snippet photo of the artwork did make me think of something, but when I saw the full picture of the art installation, it was very different!
So, I might end up doing a week of Guerlain, we’ll see. I’m in a dab of Samsara EDP today, unearthed during my sample organization yesterday. The project is still very much in progress and overwhelming! 😬
Oooooooooh, YES to Samsara!
Same here!
I’ve been absent a lot lately – just needed to put the phone down, I guess. I’ve been doing a ton of yoga, reading multiple books, drinking tea and cuddling the doggo. It’s been delightful!
Today I’m in Dan tes Bras. I don’t wear it often enough because I have a small travel spray that gets lost in the square vase that I keep my travel sprays in. So a project for this week is to find a more effective way to store small sprays so I know where each one is!
I love reading multiple books and drinking tea. Sounds like bliss
I saw a video where someone was storing travel sprays in acrylic marker holders. It looked like it worked pretty well.
Maybe one of those acrylic makeup trays would work?
I hope setting the phone down did you good. This place is like-
https://youtu.be/h-mi0r0LpXo
👍🤗
You smell great! Glad to hear you’ve been having a nice break.
SotD is Ombre des Merveilles. This scent strikes me as one that’s good for changeable weather. I love its similarity to others in the range, as well as its unique character. Doesn’t seem to get much love in general. Maybe the tea note?
I was just going to take the dog out, but the sun has already disappeared. Darn!
I thought it would be warmer than it actually was today
SotD is Como Lake Note d’Amore, from the chocolate & coffee sample set I bought on Boxing Day. It’s a very pleasant chocolate gourmand, comforting on a crazy day like today. I know nothing about this brand — anyone else ever tried something by them?
I like the name of your SOTD
Smoothie is mandarins and yogurt
During the day it was Amouage Opus III, very violetty, like a more grown-up Insolence, and tonight it’s TF Fleur de Chine which I retrieved when I rearranged the perfume cabinet, I noticed with interest that on Fragrantica it is compared to GoBH Red which I wore recently, I will have to do a side by side.
Aha, a quite different SOTD…!
😃, yes.
I will be searching for the similarities this week! Interesting!
It’s a surprise that comparison, it picked my interest too.
Your Smoothie of the Day sounds delish!
Thank you, it’s the smoothie of the moment because citrus are at their peak.
Hey all! Popping in to say hi. I’ve been commando for about six weeks, since my sister has asked people not to wear fragrance around my baby niece. She is so cute that I don’t mind. 😍 But I’ve missed the SOTD comments.
Actually, did I even tell you all that my sister had the baby? I can’t remember how long it’s been since I dipped. Anyway, she had the baby, who is adorable. My niece is rather fussy when not being held, so one of my auntie duties is to hold her for a few hours every other night so my sis can grab a shower, a nap, etc. I love it!
Congratulations on your precious new family member!
Thank you! She is pretty awesome.
Congratulations and good to see you!
Thank you!
Congratulations! I was wondering about your absence and hoping that things were OK. Sounds like it has been better than OK!
Thanks! Yes, definitely better than OK — quite fun.
Congratulations on the new family member! I’m looking forward to a great nephew in a few weeks, and maybe some cuddle time with him in 2023.
Congratulations to you and your family! Getting to enjoy the baby cuddles and then handing the baby back and getting to enjoy a full night’s sleep is the best!
Congrats on the little one!
Thanks!
Congrats on being an auntie, and nice to see you pop in!
Thank you! I am totally loving it. 🙂
Congratulations! I sure wish I had someone like you around when my boys were babies (Mr. SP always helped when he was home, but back then he traveled a lot).
It is definitely the “its take a village” approach with my niece. My BIL is back to working full time, so my sister has the dreaded 1am-5am shift. My mom comes by in the mornings so my sis can take a long nap. At some point the baby will outgrow the colic and will be able to sleep on her own, but until then my poor sis is going to be half zombie.
Congratulations Vee!
Thanks!
I’m trying some more samples from my recent Luckyscent Batch of the Best of 2022. I finally ventured to put on a teeny dab of the bright pink juice BOHOBOCO Wet Cherry Liquor and it’s as bad as I feared. Perhaps I’d be able to be more open-minded but for having drunk so much terrible cherry-flavored cough medicine around Christmas when I had Covid. This is a definite No-Go.
I’m also sampling Mami Wata Neo-Animism (where are they coming up with these names??). I looked it up and it sure comes in a cute little bottle! The only notes listed are soap and coral reef. Hmmm. I’m getting a very strong Ivory soap vibe–that’s a kind of soap I have always detested. So this one looks like a loser too, but I do need to give it more time.
So far the biggest winner of my sample bag is still Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur. Delightful and delicious magnolia-osmanthus + others.
Eau Coeur sounds intriguing; have you noticed the “overindulgence of ambroxan” that Luckyscent describes? That might dissuade me.
They’re also listing a new scent from that house called Grand Beau.
While I enjoy tuberose, some of the other notes give me pause–namely pine and juniper.
Cherry notes are a Very Big No Go for me. Blah!
Last day of the wonderfully mild temperatures for me. I took full advantage and walked to both the grocery store and the hardware store. One of the worst noises in the world is the chirp of a smoke detector when you don’t have ANY fresh 9-volt batteries in the house!
SOTD = still hanging out in Narciso Poudree.
I saw a big cold front coming to the NE. It looks like Maine is to be sub zero! Right now I’m sitting at 12. Lol
Gotta enjoy the mild tempts when you have it.
Thankfully the temps aren’t going to be that horrific here. But wind chill is expected to be minus 13F or thereabouts Saturday morning. I expect to hear about water main breaks when that happens.
Oh I know all about the chirps! I even followed directions on how to silence it, but to no avail!
ARGH, so sorry! What did you end up doing?
Let it chirp 😩
Can’t you just take the battery out and replace it with a new one when you get it?
Negative. The @#$%&* thing will keep on chirping until it gets a new battery.
It’s why some of my neighbors have thrown out their smoke detectors.
Dang! That’s crazy! And if the end result is people throwing their detectors away, it’s dangerous too!🔥
I see it will plummet to -20 in Montreal by Friday, lucky I missed the deep freeze!
It’s cold here, the hummingbird feeder froze overnight. I’m warming up with Angel’s Share and celebrating the completion of my income taxes. After a couple of years owing, I’m finally getting a refund!
Woo-hoo! That’s awesome!
Yay for you: taxes done before January ends!
It’s much colder here too, which is surprising. I had a think layer of frost on the van this morning. And YAY! for the tax refund!!
Impressive, getting your taxes done before the end of January!
It’s been many years since I got a refund, I always have to pay and this year will be horrific. I’m happy you got money back!
After wearing Coromandel EDP last night, I wanted more patchouli, one in particular. So today I’m in Patchouli Nobile by Nobile 1942, which I can safely say I like more than Coromandel EDP. It’s so rich and layered and comforting. I can’t stop smelling myself today.
Yay for wearing a true love!
I know, it’s so nice wearing one that you really love, especially on a Monday.
You smell fabulous and it’s perfect for this cold, crisp day.
Why, thank you! And cold and crisp it certainly is. I took a walk this evening after work and my cheeks are still flushed.
Wow, that Patchouli Nobile sounds like something that I ought to sample!
I really think you should! I might buy a bottle soon because I just saw FragranceNet carries it. I’ll send you my sample when I get a bottle.
The lack of sun is finally getting to me. I have so much on my mind and have not been sleeping well. I did get rid of 2 small boxes from the basement and 2 small bags of clothes from the kid’s closets. That made me feel good.
I’m doing a decant/sample thunking week. Today I finished No.19 Poudre. I think my favorite is still the edp.
Woo hoo about the EDP being your favorite! Consider your gathering to fill out bags as a good sign!
I hope you get sun soon! We’ve had a couple of days here but it’s not going to last long. Summer is just around the corner! 😎
Hopefully you will see the sun soon. I’ve had a few peeks of it here and there, and it’s amazing what even those little bits can do.
Lack of sun drives me to despair, I hope you get some soon!
I hope you can get some good rest soon. Crummy sleep affects me badly, too. Sending you some sun from the West Coast!
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
😱It is sooooo good!
I wore it today as we had the much anticipated visit by our CEO. The visit was shortish, maybe 10 minutes, and it was mostly the group lead talking about the people and the technology in the room.
In commuting news, I like taking the train except sometimes, you cannot help who sits next to you. I will volunteer and say that the guy who came in at Newark Penn Station sat on the aisle seat in MY train. And he stank to the highest worst case, not with body odor but rather GARLIC breath, which, unfortunately, got trapped inside my mask. Oy!
I won’t go into the smells that have gotten trapped in my mask! I’ve been told to breathe through my mouth but that’s just disgusting because then you can taste it…🤮 My only suggestion is to put a dot of EO on you mask before you board the train.
I don’t mind my own garlic breath, but someone else’s on mass transit? NOPE!
A couple of weeks ago my daughter ate some garlic chicken and I swear she smelled like it for 3 days!
Sounds like the visit went well. Of course you smelled fantastic!
Forgot to check in this morning, I started in Guerlain Imagine 2022 and have now switched to 4160 Tuesdays Both Sides of Clouds. That picture made me think of Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin. 🙂
Yes! Me too on The Great Pumpkin.
