Happy Hump Day! In the UK, it's also Heritage Treasures Day. Birthdays: Alice Paul, Clarence Clemons and Naomi Judd. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm running through my favorite colors: today I'm on green. I went with Diptyque L'Ombre dans L'Eau.
Reminder: 1/13 will be True Colors Friday. Tell us your favorite color, and wear a fragrance with that color in the name, or that reminds you of that color, or that has juice in that color, or ... ?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows the Sherwin Williams color palette for 2023, including their color of the year, Redend Point (a blush beige).
My favourite colour is also green Robin so I’m going with Piguet Futur for bed (and early CP points).
Back at work this week and so happy to be there.
Tomorrow Jin and I are off to the NSW Art Gallery with mates in the morning and then lunch. It’s a whole new wing just opened and we have only seen about 1/3 so far.
Hope your days are full of colour.
Love the NSW Art Gallery — with a new wing, it must be even better! Enjoy!
Thanks ockeghem,
Yes, it’s been done beautifully. some really interesting pieces and rooms. Are you Sydney?
No, just have visited. š I’m in Canada. I remember going to an amazing Jeff Wall exhibit there, years ago. He’s a local artist for us, but I saw more of his works in Sydney than I’d ever seen at home.
Thanks ockeghem,
Yes, it’s been done beautifully. some really interesting pieces and rooms. Are you Sydney?
So many NSTers have said that green is their favorite color. You’re in excellent company!
Hey JalapeƱo,
YAY for green.
Always nice to see you.
Portia x
SOTD is Diptyque Fleur de Peau, layered with the matching body balm (very silky and moisturizing) paired with a cozy cream jumper for this cold morning.

I’m not one to follow the royals but here is an interesting little scent memory tidbit from Prince Harry’s newly released memoir:
“Therapy, in which he claims William refuses to participate, and a whiff of First by Van Cleef & Arpels, help Harry learn to cry, unlocking a stream of repressed recollections of Diana, and thatās when even the most hardened reader might herself weep. Charlesās own scent, Diorās Eau Sauvage, and his marriage to Camilla, leave him relatively cold.”
Source: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/10/books/prince-harry-spare-review.html
Iāll play my tiny violin for Harry, and all the Royals š»
HAHAHA!! I am with you Deva. Playing my violin for the titled and entitled Royals.
+1, though I am somewhat delighted to discover that even royal families are as messy as any other
I’m so over this.Get a real job, love your wife and kids and move along swiftly.
I am with you J B.
Well said.
I saw that!!! And apparently he marinated in it.
In VC&A’s First?? Must have been quite a sillage.
I wonder what scent memories people will retain of me when I pass. Most of my friends don’t seem to pick up that I wear perfume because I don’t talk about it much and often wear skin scents in crowds, so I’m curious to see if anything stuck.
No, in Eau Sauvage! Charles, that is. In the article I read, which I now realize might not be the same one you posted.
Ah i see! Makes me chuckle to know that King Charles is a cologne guy lol
I’m matching my fragrance to the color of my top again today, wearing a coral colored short-sleeved top (temps up in the 70s) and Omnia Coral. Tomorrow is going to be cooler and I’m contemplating a green fragrance, since herbal notes are some of my favorites. I’ll have to see what I haven’t worn recently.
Sounds like a perfect pairing.
Moving on to my other favourite colour today: Black. I’m going to go with Bulgari Eau ParfumĆ©e au ThĆ© Noir after my shower. Back to the long days of meetings today, but at least they’re virtual. I’m not excited about next week’s 3-day onsite at work — really not a fan of having to commute any longer.
Sorry you have to go back! Seems like some people miss it and some people most definitely don’t.
I like seeing people. I just don’t like the commute. š
I hope you have some good music or podcasts to listen to while you commute.
Actually, yes. I’ve fallen way behind on podcasts, now that I don’t commute. š
UGH on the long day of meetings! That sounds so tedious.
Iām still wafting the Golden Girl herself, Onda VdE. This perfume has all sorts of golden hues, which reminds me of this song:
https://youtu.be/P3cffdsEXXw
Perfume. Color. Song. A hat trick pour moi! Happy Hump Day!
All the points!
I have to head out soon into this unpleasantly cold day āĀ it’s -10Ā°C, windchill -16Ā° ā so obviously I have to fortify myself with something warm, and today it’s Bulgari Omnia. That plus a heap of hand-knits (hat, gloves, blanket scarf) and I’m good to go.
Smelling fab! I think youāre ready for a photo op!
Omnia!Another Bulgari I should wear more often.
Stay toasty!
Yikes! That’s stupid cold!
Smelling good Pyramus!
In Chanel Coco Noir again today layered with the body cream.
Already broke my perfume resolution of no full bottles this year. There were good prices on VCA Bois de Iris so did a blind buy. If I donāt like it then someone will get a freebie. So much for resolutionsš
Oh, itās easy to like! I wore it last night and was reminded how lovely it is.
Ooh, is it very iris-y? Haven’t sniffed that one before.
It looks like it is a lot of amber and wood as well, but someone else here would know.
It’s hard not to LOVE!ADORE! Bois d’Iris! My favorite from VCA.
I think youāll be happy with your purchase. Itās such a good perfume.
Oh, good. I hope you are right.
VC&A Bois DāIris is one of my favorites! I hope you love it!
I bet you will like it. Itās my favorite Iris, of all that I have tried. There is a slightly woody note that I really love. Do report back after it arrives!
Down, little lemmings, down!
Oh, come on MossyBerry. You need it too. The prices are 50-60% off on some sites out there.
I will report back.
I recall the VCA Bois de Iris being Very Nice, and I am not an Iris person.
Hope you are right.
My favorite color is Cobalt blue. Everyday I will be matching
When I think of Iris I think of Cobalt Blue. I couldn’t decide between Iris Ganache or Iris TorrĆ©fiĆ© so I am wearing a small bit of both on each wrist.
Byredo makeup today. Lippy is Tokio Rose and eyes Dysco
Has anyone ever vacationed in Slovenia? Thoughts?
We were in Bled a few years ago — slipped over the border while we were on a ski vacation in Austria. It seemed like a lovely town and a beautiful setting. I’ve heard good things about skiing in Slovenia, especially for families.
You smell wonderful! Thanks to NST, I’ve also smelled both of these.
I’m wearing Zoologist Cow for a soft shade of green today.
I would love to try that scent. I am looking for a clover scent at the moment.
Cow is one of my favourites of the line, though I’ve only tried four or five.
In Bulgari Black for my favorite black color.
Cold and busy day working outdoors. I will survive!
Happy Wednesday! š¤
Great fragrance, great color!
Indeed!
Lovely!I’ve not worn Black in ages!Maybe when we do a “future classics” cp!
Same here. I don’t even remember when was the last time I wore it. Black certainly falls in the category of future classics. Such a weird, unique and amazing scent!
You smell wonderful. This is probably my greatest regret — did not know it was being discontinued and did not get a BUB before it got insanely expensive on resale sites. I’m hoarding what I have.
I have less than half a bottle left and I am glad I don’t reach for it often. It has been one of the most painful discontinuations ever!
That one had one of the best perfume to bottle design matches ever.
Gorgeous bottle for a gorgeous perfume!
Iām wafting Sycomore this morning. Not sure, but I think itās the EDT ā itās from an adorable mini which has a uninformative label, and sadly I didnāt keep the box. Oh wait, thatās not like me. The box might be in my box of perfume boxes. (So meta.) Anyway, itās obviously for green, my all-time favorite color. Spent a few minutes this morning looking at the pine tree across the street absolutely glowing green in some early sunshine, contrasting against some dark clouds behind it. Beautiful.
I bet it was a beautiful sight. Have a good day!
I love watching the sun move through our pine trees. You smell great!
Our yard has several mature, lush pines and I know just what you mean about the light.
Sycomore EdT is wonderful stuff! I am hoarding a little bit of it in a dabber sample.
I chose Bvlgari Jasmin Noir, lāessence, and though it probably makes no sense, I associate it with a deep emerald green. Neither the perfume nor the packaging are green, but it just feels that way to me.
It does not have to make sense! And I’ve been surprised more than once this week…clearly not everyone associates a particular perfume with the same color.
Wearing the pretty, golden-pink Douceur de Siam on a particularly grey day.
Spent time last night and this morning going through the perfumes on my dresser. Put some away and took a couple out. Right now, I am looking for my bottle of Nasomatto Nuda but in Narciso Rodriguez for her today.
Nuda is a gorgeous jasmine!
An hour of yoga and now getting ready for a day of errands. Eris Mx. for black — a favorite clothes color. Happy hump-day, all.
There was a gorgeous brilliant rainbow this morning over the water and we could see the full half circle. I’m taking that as a good sign for this day.
That is a sign. Have a happy day
I would like to see what is at the end of that half š!
Yes! I would too.š¤©š
Rainbows are one of the regularly occurring miracles of life on earth.
How cool! š
Iāve been watching a lot of classic black and white movies recently and last night rewatched Kurosawaās Ikiru ( because of the forthcoming Bill Nighy remake, Living ). There is something so restful about all these movies, the shades of grey, the beautiful depth and tones, stunning compositionsā¦very meditative. So I am going with the equally spare Gris Clair.
https://thecinemaarchives.com/2020/06/16/ikiru-1952-kurosawa/
Stunning movie, if you need a break from chatter overload
I can’t wait to see Living, and I’ll check out your movie recommendation-thank you for it:)
Wearing a beautiful cobalt blue sweater, and it’s the warmest thing I own, cause I’ll be working outside and it’s freezing here. My scent of the day is Goutal’s Vanille Charnal, which I love. similar to Vanille Exquise but deeper and richer, and I love its bottle.
It is one of his that I have not seen. Can’t decide if I should watch it now, or see the Nighy first to give it a fair chance? Remakes are never better, even if written by Ishiguro.
Another dull and damp day here, I really hope to see some sunshine soon. I’m wearing a dress with green and yellow flowers, so it’s definitely suitable for a green perfume, and I’ve decided on Chamade.
Perfect!
Happy Humpday!!
In a favorite “purple” fragrance:Putain des Palaces from ELDO.Purple boudoir or the purple velvet inside of a really really kitsch/cool handbag LoveLove.I need a fresh bottle, this one is almost ready to thunk!
XO’s
What a fun description!
Color me interested in PdP! And, yay for an almost-thunk! I need to do at least one thunk this year.
I see PdP as pink, not purple. Funny how differently people can perceive the same perfume!
Iām in Lushās Breath of God.
I got a manicure today and just realized that I chose a color that is identical to Urbane Bronze in the picture at the top of the page.
I thought about getting a mani today, I could really use one. I bet your nails look great!
If I think of favorite colors in the context of clothes i wear most often, i love wearing a warm brown. So today’s frag is Tam Dao – makes me think of a soothing brown wood sauna, particularly the one my great-uncle has in northern MN. We would visit in the 80s, and it was so fun to go in the sauna and then jump in the lake.
I do have a sauna experience in my future – I am going to a coastal town a few hours away and the place has a fun pool/hot tub/sauna combo. š
You smell great! I think saunas are pretty popular in northern MN, whereabouts if I may ask?
You smell lovely, there is something restful about Tam Dao, isn’t there? I shall have to wear it to my local spa and sauna sometime.
That sounds like the perfect trip for this time of year.
Tam Dao is a good one.
Yes, saunas are popular in northern Minnesota.
Wow, Sherwin Williams sure didn’t get the message from Pantone about Magenta being the new color of the year. There’s not a single exuberant confident and joyous color in that sad bunch!
I am a fan of neutrals for interior paint, but I agree with you, when bunched all together that is a sad looking bunch.š
This makes me think of an article in the New York Times today on colour making a resurgence in Denmark: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/11/style/danish-design-maximalist.html.
That said, I took it with a grain of salt. I’m not sure bright pops of colour ever went away in Scandi design? We stayed in a fantastic apartment in Copenhagen seven years ago — the family was out on vacation in Sweden while we were there, so it was a real Danish house — and there were pops of colour and whimsy throughout. Also in my reno 2 years ago I put in the Poulsen PH5 lamps, and they’re various shades of blue with a lovely pop of orange.
No, and they obviously don’t agree with Benjamin Moore either.
I don’t mind restful neutrals, but Redend Point in particular just seems depressing to me (sorry to any fans).
Putty, putty…
I’m wearing navy blue clothes but my SOTD is the exuberantly fuchsia Bombay Bling.
Fuchsia/navy is a great color combo, so Iād say you hit a home run. šš¼Bombay Bling gets a lot of love ā¤ļø
I love navy and fuchsia together; used to have a Laura Ashley dress in that combo – it powered me through my workday, back in the day! Had some fuchsia, lacy, cut-out slingbacks, too. I mentioned earlier that I hesitate to name a favorite color; now you’ve reminded me that fuchsia has to go on the list!

Fatfinger….
Iām continuing my pink week in Confetto. My little decant has lasted awhile.
Itās my birthday today, and I took the day off from work because, why not? Life is short. My H got me tickets to a concert in May. He knows me well. Itās one that I didnāt even know about yet! So it really was a surprise. From myself I bought a couple of cute plants for our mantle. We have a wonderful plant store near by and I love to go in and browse. I could easily see this becoming another addiction.š¬ Of course I also succumbed to the Luckyscent coupon over the weekend and ordered a bottle of Byredo De los Santos. I *should* be good for awhile now. My daughter and I went out to lunch and now sheās baking me a cake. All in all, a pretty low key but good day.š
Happy Birthday!!! Hope you have a good one, sounds like a lovely day already!
Thanks! Yes, itās been a good day.šš
Happy Birthday!š
Thanks lillyjo!š
Happy Birthday! š
Thanks pl67!
Happy birthday! So glad to hear that it’s going well so far!
Thanks!
Happy birthday! I hope you’ve had a lovely day!
Thanks Gail! It really has been, spent with my family, which is my favorite way to spend it.āŗļø
Happy Birthday!
Thanks LizzieB!
Happy birthday! I’m glad you bought yourself a scented present.
Yes, house plants can be a very dangerous rabbit hole like perfume. š I’ve managed to control myself because my place doesn’t have too many good spots indoors for plants.
Thanks!
Yes, I could see that happening. My local store started as a āpop upā and then the pandemic hit and everyone was home and buying plants. Iām glad theyāve made it.
Happy Birthday, madtowngirl, and yay for scented birthday gifts!
Thanks allo!
Happy Birthday! A daughter-made birthday cake must be among the tops in deliciousness, along with son-made, parent-made and spouse-made!
Thanks MB! I totally agree!š
Happy Birthday! š
Thanks Deva!
Happy Birthday!
Thanks hajusuuri!
Happy Scented Birthday, fellow Januarian! šš„šš
Thanks JalapeƱo! I forget, are you Capricorn too?
Nope, I’m later on in the month, so I am an Aquarius.
Happy Happy Birthday!!!
Thank you!
Happiest of birthdays! Sounds like it was an excellent day.
Thanks! It was.š
Just reading this now, so happy belated birthday! Sounds like it was a nice one.
SOTD is sweet and beautiful Mon Nectar Precieux, which gives me the sense of being surrounded by a fluttering cloud of white and yellow petals, although I am actually wearing denim and navy todayā¦
What a lovely image meredifay!
Chanel No. 19 becauseā¦.green.
Dinner and concert tonight. I think itās bluegrass. Would rather stay homeā¦itās cold and rainy. But, I know Iāll enjoy it once Iām there.
Packing up Christmas decorations. Ugh.
Rain, yuck. We saw the sun for a little bit this afternoon, maybe it will make it up your way tomorrow!š¤š
Oh my goodness, they take so long to pack and store away!
I wore Love les Carrotes today. I oversprayed, so it was magnificent but not too much! I stayed in today and tidied up the condo, at least my messy dresser and dealt with the recycling. I reached out to our realtor yesterday to list our condo for sale shortly. I think in my mind I’ve already let it go! I’m ready to move on.
Tidying-up twins. Totally a job that requires an appreciation of deferred gratification!
Hi twin! Yes to deferred gratification!
Oh I love this one! I sold off my bottle a couple years ago and regret it. Is your fav color orange?
I love oranges, yellows and watermelon colors. When we were young teens, my sister and I got our “colors” done. She was deemed a “winter”, whereas I was designated a “spring”, so I have warm colors in my wardrobe. Even my gray shades have a warm tone. Color is so interesting!
Where are you moving on to, if you don’t mind me asking?
No, I don’t mind at all! We’d like to maybe buy a house on a golf course but stay close to where we are now in central Florida. I saw a few nice spots last week! Although we love the property here, it’s time to go. We’d like a garage so we can leave a car here plus not have to move our clothes and personal belongings in and out all the time.
SOTD is Black Orchid.
Anyone watching Slow Horses on apple tv? I just binged both seasons this past week. Very “bingeable” with some great actors – Gary Oldman and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Loooooooooove Black Orchid!
Oh, Slow Horses looks good! I will have to have my husband watch it and see if it is too violent for me.
Started out as a twin with Robin in L’Ombre dans L’Eau for more green but got (happily) derailed this afternoon in vintage Coco. How did I not know about/sniff vintage Coco until now?! So gorgeous and I know I’m in good company with other Coco fans here.
You smell fabulous!
š
You smell fantastic!
š
Vintage Coco is so freaking good!
SO GOOD!!!
Koto parfum for me today. Kept me on focus for my Day of Meetings. The color of aldehydes. : )
Glad your day of meetings is done and dusted!
No CP points today. Another day of cleaning closets, a successful one so yay. SO gray/grey today; perfect for a dismal task. SotD was a fun lift: Jean Patou Heritage Collection Adieu Sagesse. A tropical fruity floral with some spice and musk? Yes, make it a double! š
I have your SOTD! Love the Heritage Collection bottles. The juice ain’t bad, either. š
Today has been a blur and I forgot to spritz this am. Which never happens. So relaxing this pm with Lyric woman for red.
At least it is over, right?
SOTD = Gucci Memoire dā une Odeur
Love the green bottle! Love the juice but donāt recall the color of it.
My door Christmas decors for the door have been put away and the wreath was replaced with one for Valentineās. Would you believe Easter decor is actually out? š£ I forgot to put away my countdown calendar and will do that soon.
My Zoom app is now annoying me. I used to be able to click on the upper right icon (from the 4 icons on the middle of the app) and it connected me to my work-issued Zoom number. This year, it seems that it is no longer working! I now have to use the regular icon, put in my own Zoom number, and then get connected to my own Zoom. Anyone else experience this anomaly? I realize there are many things to be annoyed by and this is low on the list but it still doesnāt feel right to me!
We haven’t received any Easter decorations yet. We do still have one left from last Easter though. Lol. It never had a big reduction on it. Hopefully someone will buy it this Easter.
My thought is that if it was last yearās decor, it should have been heavily discounted. This is what I suspect happened with a leftover cat gnome statue (with a dog gnome companion but which I did not see last year) that was not on sale.
“Cat gnome statue” sounds absurdly cute!
It was bad enough seeing Valentine’s decor next to the Hanukkah stuff right around NYE. Now Easter things are out? SMH.
Seriously ā¦ messed up is what I say!
Tech is always the best thing to be annoyed with! Happens to me every time I go into work with having to sign on to each computer in each room plus the nurses station 3 times to access all the documentation applications. Half the time I get kicked out and have to sign in 3 additional times. Such. A. Waste. Of. Time. š I had a patient last night who said āGo ahead and swear at it. Itāll make you feel better!ā š
I thought those paint swatches were foundation samples at first. š¤£
RIP Jeff Beck. The obit I saw said that he was 74.
The Xmas lights I still had up weren’t really lifting my mood, so I unplugged the timer they were on this afternoon. I will take them down at a later date.
SOTD = Samsara EdT. My bottle of this is lighter bodied and less indolic than its EdP sibling.
Geeze Louise Jalapeno! I hadn’t heard. How sad. What a great musician. R.I. P.
I was kind of surprised that the broadcast news didn’t mention it. I heard about it thru a news feed on my phone.
I may have the EDT whom someone here gifted me. She said it reminded her of her ex-husband and she couldnāt stand having it in her house. I need to look for it.
It may still be more indoles that you care for, though.
Today I wore Guerlain Rose Cherie. It’s in the deep drydown now and it is reminding me of LPRN Couture.
It was almost 6pm before it got totally dark here today, and I totally have Spring Fever. š»ššš·
Rose Cherie is great, and your comment makes me want to give LPRN Couture a shot. Another one of those Guerlain mainstays that seem to sprout flankers every time you turn around!
I heard one of the meteorologists here mention that we are getting one more minute of daylight every day this month! So January isn’t so bad.
Wow, but no spring fever for me though.
