French niche line Memo has launched Sherwood, a new "sandalwood cream" fragrance in the brand's Graines Vagabondes collection.
The maidenhair ferns ripple from the touch of an invisible presence. Who goes there? The edge of the undergrowth pulsates, beckoning lovers of stories and tales of moons, feathers and good Samaritans to the shelter of an age-old forest. Sherwood. A botanical palace in which each root hides a tender shoot, each variety of tree surprises by its skin-like bark. Smooth and sweet like orange blossom absolute. Like rose. Birds hold conciliabules in their nests, peeping and cheeping on about Robin. The treetops swap secrets of pink pepper and carrot seed oil. Only the cedar knows them. Where is the coveted treasure hidden? Suddenly an arrow flies down the middle of a path lined with blackcurrant buds. It skims past the birch and leaves a pervading trail of sandalwood oil that slips between the leaves, hugs the trunks, takes advantage of every ounce of quivering air to make its presence known. It points to the destination, leads the way to a fragrance: as generously discreet, as gloriously alive as the forest host.
"I crafted a spicy and captivating sandalwood cream. The deep and mellow woody signature of sandalwood is enhanced by the richness of sensual cashmeran and the precious oakwood." — [perfumer] Juliette Karagueuzoglou
Memo Sherwood is available in 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

Sandalwood cream = wood pudding?
Anyway that there is some fancy writin’.
It is really hard to tell, but I hope it is wood pudding!
Seriously highfalutin…
The writing is so overwrought, completely foiled by including the perfumer’s note, which sounds much more appealing.
I do however love the image on the bottle which reminds me of a video game I’m playing now with hand-drawn illustrations (Banner Saga for any fellow game nerds).
Their bottle designs are always so wonderful!
Conciliabules? Held in birds’ nests? Har har har. Sandalwood is the last thing I would associate with Sherwood Forest? Come on, really?
It is odd, but I guess there is also oak.
Me too. There are thousands of oak trees, and chestnuts…some of the most ancient trees in Britain. But sandalwood? Seems so out of place for a Sherwood Forest perfume.
That was my thought exactly–sandalwood in Sherwood Forest? Does not compute.
Could be fun!
Not so fun:trying to get an actual maidenhair-fern to stay alive in my apartment.Never in my life has a plant died that fast. And I have supposed green fingers!!Lol.
It is hard to find just the right amount of light for ferns in general…I only have a couple windows in my house that will support a fern.
I’m still not sure what happened!
Me, too! I discovered maidenhair ferns last year and bought a gorgeous one. I tried so hard to take good care of it, but it only lasted a few weeks. 🙁
And they are the prettiest plants!!😩😩
And yet they just exist out there in the woods, freely doing what they do without any hman interference, don’t they? It’s very humbling! Also what everyone else said about this mismash of a scent – ignore the name and the blah blah and it sounds very nice, and I love the bottle…etc etc etc. Memo is hit and miss with me. I love some of their perfumes and many of the bottles (Tiger’s Nest I need that on my night stand!), but many of the scents just don’t do it for me, and some are quite off-putting – Latin Quarter, I think, is the one that I expected to love, but it has something in that triggers nausea in me at the slightest sniff! But the bottles are so pretty, I will keep sniffing them, including this one. I like trees – enough said. 🙂
You are right, of course–just give the scent a try on its own. I’m game. I have found a few I like. Some, such as Sintra, are positively nauseating to me.
Sintra is just “meh” to me, not awful. One of the challenges of perfumery. Maybe why the major makers all use the same 15 ingredients, the ones with the lowest “ick profiles”….
I used to love some MEMOin the past. Quartier Latin was one of my favorite with Shams .
Now it has become a brand for chic old ladies but some of their fragrances are very good. This one seems good
