It's our same old open thread poll, marking National Cat Day on Saturday and National Candy Corn Day on Sunday. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, your spookiest perfume ever, your favorite flavor of candy corn,* whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

* Brach's Tailgate Candy Corn mix for 2022 includes fruit punch, vanilla ice cream, hot dog, hamburger and popcorn; at Target you can also find Funfetti Candy Corn; if you shop around maybe you can still find the Turkey Dinner mix with green beans, roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, ginger glazed carrot, sweet potato pie and stuffing. Some older flavors (Haunted Tropics, Donut Shop, Skulls & Bones, Pumpkin Pie, Unicorn Horns) might be gone entirely.
I may be the odd person out here, but I despise candy corn. Always have, always will, it’s just- yuck. I’m more of a chocolate fan.
I’m in Tonka Imperiale, the last of my sample. Trying to work through some samples and decants most recently. It’s another gorgeous day out today and my neighbor is trying to ruin it with their leaf blower. lol, hopefully they will be done soon!🙉
We are experiencing above average temperatures which I am really enjoying. No major plans for today, but tomorrow we have tickets to see Jane’s Addiction and Smashing Pumpkins together. Super excited, I’ve never seen the Pumpkins live and it’s been 30 years since I’ve seen Jane’s.😳 We are going with some friends so it should be a fun time.
Happy Weekend!🌞😎🍁
I’m with you on the candy corn. To me, candy = chocolate, someone else can have my share of candy corn and chewy fruit stuff.
Have a great time at the concerts!
There are a LOT of people who hate candy corn, as I am reminded every October every time I’m online. I personally love it, but to each his/her own.
I am not a fan of candy corn either. Give me the chocolate!
I am just so-so with the taste of candy corn but the “fun” colours and cute appearance give me joy when I eat them. But of course if there’s chocolate next to it I will definitely pick the latter 😉.
You are not alone! I’m not a fan of candy corn either. Although, I went through a phase as a kid where I bit off the little white tips of each piece. Maybe I thought that part tasted better? I’m sure my mom put the kibbosh on that foolishness very quickly. 😂
I did that same thing-ate off the white tips. What is that about😂 I am sure my mom got on me about it too, but I don’t remember.
I’m not familiar with candy corn,it’s not a thing in South Africa. Most of us also do not understand the pumpkin craze during fall in the US.To each is own, yes!
Also,give me the chocolate NOW.✌🏻🤗
It does not matter in the slightest, but candy corn long predates the pumpkin spice thing, which did not really exist when I was a child. Candy corn used to come in only one flavor, though.
I don’t like candy corn either but a candy corn costume is very easy to make even I, with no sewing skillz whatsoever, made a decent job with tulle and needle / thread. I wore it to work 6 or 7 Halloween’s ago and attended a party as well.
Would love to see a photo of you in a candy corn costume…it brought a huge smile to my face just imagining it. And I’m recovering from a whopper of a booster shot so thank you😊
I remember you making and mentioning that costume!
Candy corn just tastes like a hard dry lump of corn syrup, no thanks – hand over the chocolate! 🙂
Enjoy your concert!
Wearing Angel Muse, I needed a sweet hug today.
I can always get behind National Cat Day! Cats have brought me much entertainment and affection over the years 😻
Is Muse close to original Angel?I’ve wanted to blind-buy the edt because I can get it at a very good price, but have never smelled it in the wild here.
No, it’s very fruity. Not a safe blind buy.
Oh, now I have a different experience than cazaubon. On me, Muse opens just like the original Angel but this fabulous Nutella sort of hazelnut and coffee with lots of cream? or just cream? note that is a velvet cushion gradually rises to the top and the Angel bits stay
under the cushion. It’s lovely if you like Angel. Mine was a blind buy and I love it; of course, ymmv.
Yes, that is how I see Muse too. I find it much more wearable than Angel. But not sure I’d say it was a safe blind buy for everybody.
Have never smelled the Angel Muse EdT. The Angel Muse EdP has quite a few notes in common with the original Angel but adds in a snickerdoodle cookie note plus something creamy and nutty.
I blind bought it…at least as far as I remember. It’s very cozy with the hazelnut note. I like it on cozy scarves.
Yes, the edp and edt are different. I have the very fruity edt much fruitier than Angel.
In Canada we generally get only one flavour of candy corn, but I LOVE it and don’t get the hatred.
Day two on the road — Toronto until Tuesday, then Montréal for a couple of days — but I had the foresight to bring SL Rousse, such a perfect autumn scent, all cozy cinnamon.
I have been going gangbusters with the sewing machine and made a bunch of masks, some with Hallowe’en fabric: today’s is orange and black stripes on a white ground, and tomorrow’s is white skulls and crossbones on black with a bright red lining that I pressed so it just peeks out at the top for that extra scare factor.
You smell great! Have a wonderful trip.
Have fun pyramus!
Happy Caturday to all those lucky enough to be owned by kitty-Kats! I’ve had two in my life and they were so loving, snuggable, and affectionate. 🐈⬛ ♥️
Finally sporting the Elephant today after a couple of days of “almost” wearing it. When the first waft hit my nose, my brain went to its happy place and murmured “ah, yes, about time!” Yesterday started out rainy and gloomy but turned into an amazing sunshiny day. Today looks to be continuing that trend- cool, mild breezes, full on sunshine. In other words, perfect! 🎃
Happy weekend to all you witches and werewolves! 🧙♀️🐺
Yay for your perfect weather weekend, Deva!
One of these days I really need to sniff Elephant.
Wearing Serge Lutens La Couche du Diable, from my almost finished mini.
I am thinking about perfumes that I would wear for Halloween and La Couche is one of those. I might continue the theme for next week along with the candy CP.
I don’t like candy corn. I find the texture pretty weird. Last year, I bought a bag of the apple caramel flavor, which tastes good. I just had a few of them and the rest of the almost full bag, I left in the office kitchen pantry. They dissappeared in a matter of minutes.
Yesterday, on my way home, I grabbed a couple of witches and ghosts Peeps. I am always looking for them! 🙈
I started the day pretty early today. I already ran all my errands, did some cleaning and I will take it easy for the rest of the weekend, before mom arrives on Monday.
Having my second cup of coffee with a dash of pumpkin spice and pumpkin tortilla chips with harvest salsa. Yummy! I may make some homemade pumpkin spice cream liqueur later to enjoy this Halloween weekend. 👻👾🤡
Happy weekend, everyone! 🎃
I’ve got a decant of La Couche coming from the split meet. What do you like most about it?
I love the ambery incense combination. Resinous and spicy. I am sure you will like!
We have some similar tastes in perfume, so I’m sure it’ll be a winner 🙌
Resinous, spicy, amber-y incense sounds pretty darn good to me as well!
Happy to hear that your Mom has had a wonderful time on her trip, and that you have been able to relax for a bit.
It is a great scent! It reminds me a bit of Ummagumma.
I woke up very late today. Taking advantage of my last day alone at home!
Candy corn … two things I hate about it. First, it makes my teeth feel fuzzy. Second, I can’t stop eating it once I start. Gah. 😆
SOTD (and yesterday afternoon) is a lovely cloud of Profumum Alba, because the bottle arrived! Alba is one that sits 6 to 12 inches above the skin — if I put my nose next to my wrist I almost can’t smell it, but relax and let the cloud waft and it’s heaven. ☁️
AND LuckyScent apparently took pity on me so they included more free samples than they were supposed to, so now I have a plethora of Profumum samples to try. Plus L’Attessa and CdG Black. When I’m able to tear myself away from Alba. 😍
Congrats on that very desired bottle! ❤️
Thank you … and thanks for the inspiration!
Yay, enjoy that new bottle!
Hooray! I hope you have a wonderful day in your scented cloud.
Huzzah for unexpected sample largesse!
Not a candy corn fan. The taste isn’t overwhelmingly not bad, but it’s just not so great I’d want to each much of it. It’s more the texture I don’t like — I haven’t had it in some years, but I recall a slightly grainy sugar texture. But then, I find that’s the texture of all grocery store candy, including the chocolate, which is good, because it keeps me away (and bad, because it pushes me to buy the spendy stuff, when I do buy it). I had a Reese’s Cup the other day, thinking how much I used to love them, but then I was just put off by the grainy chocolate and chalky peanut butter. Eh, I like salty things better, anyway.
SOTD will probably be Lush Turmeric Latte. I’m not often into gourmands, but this one is sitting well with me right now. I should probably also pull out the Felanilla, the other real gourmand I have, soon. By tonight, I will need something that gives me fortitude, as I will be accompanying two beyond-excited bestie teens to Fright Nights at the local amusement park…in the rain. The next atmospheric river is supposed to set in over the course of the day.
Oh, as a grown adult the most Halloween fun I’ve ever had was at a Busch Gardens Fright Night. The haunted houses..! 🫣 Hope you all have a great time and stay dry.. ☔️
Have a great time 👻
Enjoy the Fright Nights! 🧙♀️
I enjoy the Reese’s pieces, that are like M&M’s,just much much tastier
I agree about grocery store chocolate, bleh. I used to love Reese’s but I need better quality in my old age.
But also do think Reese’s used to taste much better than they do now.
It’s good to hear it’s not just my imagination! I think they used to taste better too.
That seems very possible. I don’t remember, as a child, there being so much difference between European chocolate (e.g., Ritter Sport) and say, Hershey’s. But now it’s night and day.
Hersheys used to at least taste like chocolate. Now it doesn’t.
Reeses PBC are my favourite Halloween candy since childhood. Big difference now – they’ve definitely downsized from a ‘D’ cup to an ‘A’ cup. 😉
Atmospheric river … oh no… have fun tonight!
Hope that you can stay reasonably dry tonight!
SOTD is Eau de Protection.
I do have kind of an odd question. I notice that some perfumes turn to an almost skunk smell on me. Perfumes this has happened with include D &G Light Blue, Jorum Studio Trimerous and Angel Nova to name a few. There are others, but just can’t remember them all. I am guessing it as something to do with my skin type or acidity. I thought I had nailed it down to the cedar note, but then realized I had a few perfumes that had cedar in it. Any guesses? Has this happened to any of you? It makes me mad as there are several perfumes I really wanted to like.
Light Blue turns to sour milk on my skin. D&G #3 turned to stinky feet.
Oh yes, I remember Light Blue not working for me either for some reason but I have the flanker Italian Zest which I like a lot.
That’s too bad about the Trimerous! On me, some roses turn into sweaty socks left in a bag for two weeks and subjected to extreme heat inside the trunk of a car. I am looking at Le Labo Rose 31 and Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose, among others.
I know. I wanted another iris so was hoping that one would work out. I almost did a blind buy at Lucky Scent. Glad I didn’t.
I did a very quick internet check. All three list having woody and musky notes. I suspect the “musk” may be at the bottom of your issue. (Pun very much intended.)
That is so sweet of you. I think you are right about it being something to do with some woods. I have had perfumes with musk and a few woods so not sure it there is just one culprit or a combination. Thanks for doing that 😊
I have had a whiff of Eau de Polecat with a couple of grapefruit heavy perfumes. Citrus and I have a difficult relationship.
Eau de Polecat! 😂 I have a similar reaction to some citruses.
I am eating all the sour candy 🍬 out of the bags and also Swedish fish. No to candy corn
Slow Dance for the market and for the rest of the day.
Fall outfit, fedora hat, cowboy boots, and a big oversized brown corduroy jacket
Your outfit sounds perfect!
I find candy corn so cute. Is there anybody out there who thinks the same?
Sotd is Chanel Jersey.
I am having a scoop of ice cream I just churned. Vanilla (from the pods!) with lavender honey swirls. I topped with crushed digestive biscuits. Trying my hardest not to go for seconds.
The ice cream sounds delish! Enjoy! 🍨
Yum! We’ll all be over for dessert shortly! 🤣
Yummy!
I don’t know if I find it cute, but I find it delicious!
Your ice cream sounds amazing. And you smell so lovely.
On my way over for the ice cream.
Thumbs down on the candy corn, I didn’t even know it came in flavors, that’s how much attention I pay to it. Today’s scent after a walk will be Stash.
Then you will smell excellent!
I’m in TF Oud Intense (thunkerino) and Byredo Vanille Antique on separate arms, also a sample. I like both and they’re playing well together. Perfect for the slightly chilly, overcast weather.
Thank you to those who sent well wishes to my pupper last week. She’s much better, and is on some doggie probiotics to set her system to rights. ❤️🐕❤️
Hooray for happy pups!
Yay for pet probiotics!
Wearing Zagorsk after filling my split from the splitmeet 😀
Splits are still available if you’re interested! (Robin, am I allowed to say that? Please remove my post if not).
Listening to David Gray… anyone remember him? He had only a couple songs on the radio many years ago, but his whole catalog is very good.
I love David Gray, had such a distinctive voice!
I just responded to your splitmeet post and will email you later today!
I listen to David Gray at least once a month. It takes me back to a very special time when I lived in California.
I’m listening to a A New Day at Midnight while making dinner. Great album!
Just replied to your post. I meant to get back to you on this but there are so many goodies at this splitmeet!
Your mention of David Gray came a day after I heard something of his on the terrestrial radio station I listen to. Fun coincidence!
Of course, no problem!
Zagorsk is lovely.
I’m on Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense this Saturday.

I love the photo!
Beautiful photo!
Great photo!
Lovely composition on your photo!
SOTD!
Lush’s Love.It’s such a happy scent,I needed a mood-booster!
My mental health has been up-and-down lately and I wish I could find the perfect equilibrium again.Oh well.
I enjoy Cadbury chocolate locally, and the Godiva chocolates are also a favorite.
Favorite-favorite chocolate though will always be either Milky Way or Butterfingers.I’m one of many people that cannot stand Hershey chocolates because of the puke-aftertaste it has.I actually googled it once and many people reported that taste(it’s got something to do with the way and the type of milk solids they mix for their chocolates)
Have a good weekend everyone!
XO’s
Hugs to you JB!
Sending hugs and positive thoughts, J B 🌹❤️!
I am not a fan of Hershey chocolates either! There is a bag sitting on one of my kitchen cabinets since last Halloween. I just don’t like the way they taste!
Wishing you sunny vibes inside and out!
Love is such a gorgeous scent. Biggest hugs to you.
I can’t do Hershey’s chocolate much either. I do like their Special Dark mini chocolate bars, which only seem to show up at Halloween. They are a different creature from their milk chocolate siblings.
Sorry to hear about your ups and downs. Hugs.
Sending hugs too! Hope tomorrow is a better day.
Cadbury chocolate is a favorite in our house! The Easter eggs are pretty addictive. I can still remember as kids we’d get the Cadbury chocolate dry powder for milk, and our Mom had to dump the entire container out into a bowl so we could get the freebie chocolate squares! We couldn’t wait to get to the bottom of the tin!
Hope the Lush Love helped today J…hang in there.
I love Butterfingers, too! I’m so happy they started showing up in Canada the last few years. But I can also be talked into a Caramilk (the one with the caramel centre) any day…I’m a sucker for caramel.
Sending good vibes for finding the right equilibrium!
I’m a fan of Butterfingers too, so much that I can’t have them in my house. I have no control.
Big hugs to you, J B. I’m so sorry you’re struggling,
SOTD = Chanel Coco Noir EDP
I am making up for the CP as this one has geranium. Plus, National Cat Day – I understood the assignment!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CkTrg4Cu_Ad/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I am back from my niece’s wedding! The whole ceremony and the reception were done very tastefully. They used a wedding planner and the company did a good job. Of course I had criticisms which I didn’t necessarily keep to myself (but I said nothing to the happy couple, in case you’re wondering). My faux pas was leaving the card with the check at home which means I have to mail it to them. I think I mentioned my brother and SIL decided not to attend but they told my niece way back … even if they were going to attend, they would not have been able to make it anyway because my brother was showing symptoms of COVID infection … but of course it could have been a cold. My BIL’s sister and adult children didn’t make it either and I will hopefully find out the reason. Overall, it was a very nicely celebrated occasion!
Glad you had a good time at the wedding.
Fun! Nice to hear you had a good time, but you know I want the criticisms.
Coco Noir, how different than Mama Coco and the flankers?
I’m glad they had a nice celebration.
I wore Coco Noir yesterday. We were on the same wavelength.
I remember you telling about the wedding. Glad you had a nice time despite some family not attending.
Hurray for the wedding being a true celebration!
I had to google candy corn, so it’s clearly not a thing here 🙂
I finally found CdG’s Rouge yesterday. I tried it with some trepidation, I love beetroot, but couldn’t imagine it in a perfume. Well, I didn’t get any beetroot, but lots of ginger, which I do like in perfume. I’ll be trying Rouge again today.
Glad Rouge was not a scrubber, at least!
Pretty sure a life without candy corn is quite livable 🙂
I’m wearing Mon Guerlain lotion and extrait. But I’m craving L’Heure Bleue so I may spritz a bit of that on top as well.
Playing dangerously.😉
You smell great !!
What’s the Mon Guerlain extrait like?
Not really much different than the Intense version. It smells like an edp with a bit more intensity.
I love candy corn. Love it. I once was working a terribly stressful job and one of my coworkers brought in three pounds of candy corn that he bought at the bulk store.
We ate so much in one gripe session that he had to go to an emergency dentist and I had chest pains. We were both 25!! I now allow myself one small bag per year.
No SOTD. Beloved hubs drove home from his dad’s yesterday and as soon as he arrived I let him pet the dog and then took him to the ER. Half of his face was paralyzed and his speech slurred.
Thank all the gods that it wasn’t a stroke, he has Bell’s Palsy. But he had symptoms for three days – please everyone, learn the FAST way to recognize and get help for a stroke!!!
OMG! So glad it wasn’t a stroke. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Big Hugs, Sistine. That must have been frightening.
My neighbor returned from the hospital and no one noticed. Her husband didn’t notice! Back to the hospital and Bell’s Palsy.
She fully recovered in about 3 months.
I hope that gives you something to cling to.
Thank you, it does. He’s already responding to the drugs from the ER and can close his right eye, so I consider that a massive win.
That IS a massive win! Cheers to new beginnings!
Well that’s terrifying! I’m happy it wasn’t a stroke but also sorry he’s having to deal with the Bell’s Palsy. I hope he gets back to baseline asap. 🏥
Zounds! Glad to hear that it wasn’t a stroke. Those run in my family, so my brother and I both know the FAST acronym for symptoms.
Big hugs.
My goodness. So glad he is recovering quickly.
So glad it wasn’t a stroke! That must have been terrifying.
I had Bell’s Palsy as a kid. I think I was in first grade. My parents took down or covered all the mirrors in the house. So, I was basically clueless about my condition. There’s one blurred photo of me with crooked face.
Sooooo glad to hear that it was not a stroke. Hope he can recover quickly.
In Turmeric Latte, which I love.
Bad thing: Got hit in the head with a $550 bill for Town water. I’ll take the hit. My memory is this bad, I don’t remember last week, let alone Spring’s bill.
Almost took liberty to take 5 years of payment! Longer story.
I came home, Mr AP was po’d at me for the bill, but was very comforting when he realized how bad my memory has become.
At least I smell good and it is a new day. Sun is shining and heating pad is getting me warmer.
I’m sorry to hear about the heavy bill. You smell great. A warm heating pad and the shining sun are wonderful things.
Thanks. Smelling great alone makes me happy!
Oh no! That is a scary utilities bill for sure.
That was killer. My fault, still painful.
Very sorry and so glad Mr. AP understands.
Thank you. First time I broke down in front of him. It felt good to have him by my side.
Twins! You smell great!
Again, today!
I understand your reaction at the bill, every utility bill is a challenge bow with the increased prices.
I haven’t smelled Turmeric Latte yet but bet you smell great.
Recovering from a booster shot today but a little 4160 Both Sides of Clouds from a generous NSTer feels just right.
You smell wonderful!
Thank you😊
I found it rather amusing that this year National Cat Day was also a Caturday. I gave my 2 cats a little bit of cheese to mark the occasion, which they greatly appreciated. 😻😻
Gorgeous blue skies and chilly temps today. I decided to just relax and enjoy the day.
I used to like candy corn as a kid, and yes, I ate the white tip first. Nobody seemed to care about that. I tried some candy corn a few years ago and YEARGH was it ever sweet! Too much for my adult taste buds.
SOTD = Perles de Lalique EdP, from the Sample Stash. It reminds me a LOT of the original Agent Provocateur, but with less Oooomph. I will enjoy and use up the sample(s).
I totally agree with Perles de Lalique and Agent Provocateur. I do have both scents and they are a similar profile.
And glad the kitties got to have some cheese today!
When they first made chocolate candy corn I would just eat the dark part, even though I’m pretty sure the whole thing tastes the same 🙂
Today was another lovely day by the pool! My hubby and I went to the gym and then had a nice walk around the resort. Why is walking in the humidity so HARD? Just that felt like a workout!
Tonight I’m in some Crabtree & Evelyn Almond lotion with 4160 Tuesdays OTCS. I’m definitely team Chocolate, not team Candy Corn!
When we go into tropical weather, about our only exercise is swimming 🙂
Got a package from Chanel yesterday. I haven’t ordered anything from Chanel since last year. They sent me a 1957 sample, mascara sample and a face cream sample. Currently in no 5 eau Premiere but will probably wear either L’heure de Nuit or Epic today after my shower. Will be asking a friend on what time he wants to get together today.
There’s nothing quite like receiving a perfume package with added samples😊 I hope you enjoy your day with your friend.
That sounds like a great package—enjoy!
Loyal customer reward, Dawn! You are an ambassador. Have fun with your friend!
In the other Washington (DC) visiting son and heading to Gettysburg for a little history. Gorgeous day! I’m in Safran Troublant plus a bit of leftover PG Le Musc & La Peau, samples I brought with me. They are both winners for me.
We fly home tomorrow. We’ve had a very fun 10 days of travel (despite first rental car breakdown on interstate…) but looking forward to getting home.
Sounds like a great trip (sans car breakdown). Happy travels to you and Mr. SP tomorrow😊
What fun, hope you enjoyed Gettysburg!
Bengal Rouge for a very blustery fall day! 🍂🍁💨
I did not know about that wind emoji! Learn something new every day.
We did a long walk in a local park, trees were gorgeous.
I’m not big on the candy corn. It’s cute, but never interested me for eating.
Black Perfecto on Saturday, where spirits were high (pun intended.) The town businesses were sponsoring trick or treating, so we had a stream of costumed kids coming through for candy. So cute.
Combo of Trésor and Stella on Sunday. Went well with a long and needed nap this afternoon.
How fun!! I have hidden the halloween candy and have to figure out where, ha.
Cold here. Wearing Turmeric Latte again. I’m loving this. Falling for Lush again and that’s as dangerous as the rest of the brands.
Lucky, my bath is 50 years old and I’m not into a lot of skincare, hair care and already have enough shower products. The perfumes, oy.
Impatiently waiting for Turmeric Latte to show up in San Diego!
I wore Francesca Bianchi Black Knight today. Off to bed soon in Blue Agave & Cacao.
And I am off to bed in the remnants of Le Galion Iris. Sweet dreams cazaubon!
