Happy Almost-Friday! It's also World Nature Conservation Day and National Milk Chocolate Day. Birthdays: Beatrix Potter, Marcel Duchamp, Malcolm Lowry, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. What fragrance are you wearing?
Today and tomorrow will be travel days for me as I head home from my vacation. At the moment I’m in Hermès Un Jardin Sur le Nil body lotion again.
Reminder: 7/29 is International Tiger Day...wear whatever you think fits.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I will be in a very tigerish fragrance after I go for an early walk: orange, amaretto, woods and myrrh—PG Bois de Copaiba. The color is right, too. This is one of the original collection of Parfumerie Generale fragrances that I loved, along with Bois Blond, Aomassai, Brulure de Rose, Cedre Sandaraque, Musc Maori among others, all launched before 2008. I was never as interested in his later fragrances.
Enjoy your walk – it’s such a beautiful morning.
And before it’s too hot!
🙂
Good morning NSTers!
It’s rare that I’m such an early poster but I’m up with the birds working on invoices and wearing Pacifica Tunisian Jasmine Lime to wake myself up. Black tea also helps 🙂
You have a Pacifica perfume unicorn! 🦄
I do? Someone from a swap/sell site sent it as a freebie with my package but I’d never heard of it. I’ve always heard about Tibetan Mountain Temple but not this one. Thanks for letting me know – I’ll appreciate it even more now 🙂
I have been participating in the CP all week, though I am volunteering today I don’t want to let up. Even thought the name of my SOTD give ode to another cat, Cartier La Panthere Legere Eau brings out my inner Tigress.
I will try to keep my claws in today 😉
Thank you to a generous NSTer who shared some of my SOTD with me.
Hello! Is it library day? Hope you have a wonderful time (and what an elegant choice). I am eyeing some Gucci make up thanks to your recent comments about it 😀
Yes, today is a library day
🦁 🦁 📚
Which Gucci makeup do you like. I am wearing the only item I have from that line, the bronzer.
How is your Allure perfume ?
I have been looking at their mascaras and lipsticks, I don’t wear much bronzer despite having bought some beautiful Guerlain powders in the past, but the Gucci powders look so good that I am sorely tempted. My two Allures are wonderful, thank you! I often wear them side by side to enjoy the contrast. No bath/body oils here so far but I will keep looking, perhaps for Christmas…
You smell fabulous!
Thank you!!! 🐅
I’m wearing Niki de Saint Phalle. I have a bub of this, but I can’t find it. So, I just ordered a back up to my back up. I should have a lifetime supply now.
😉
I’m so glad that they still make this one!
LOL, I like your spirit!
2nd that! Perfect way to deal with the situation.
What a wonderful green perfume! 💚
SotD for the CP is Asja – gold and black stripes on the bottle and some spices for the Sumatran tigers. All tigers are amazing, but I am partial to the male Sumatran tiger’s ruff-mane!
I covet that bottle! If I ever order another batch of vintage scents, that’s at the top of my list.
Ditto!
You smell lovely, I got a 30ml of the extrait this year and it is so fruity delicious.
Thanks – I love it – I have the edp – it’s a powerhouse and has held up well. I do love the bottle (Fendi has done some wonderful bottles!) but note it is plastic, and my unboxed vintage has some scuffing. It displays well, but be advised if you buy online.
Yes, it smells as if released yesterday, thanks for the advice, well, wear and tear is not a turn-off for me it’s the content that supersedes everything.
Good morning.
Sotd is BR 540.
Trying out Chanel no.1 serum. It has a light fruity, slightly floral scent that I like.
Is that the one in the red bottle?
I’m in Perry Ellis Reserve, which is now called Reserve for Men because they came out with a woman’s version four years later, called *that* Reserve, and renamed the men’s version to avoid confusion. (It didn’t work.)
Anyway, it’s terrific, a sophisticated fougère with a floral heart, probably the best men’s scent the line ever released.
I am continually mystified at how brands name their fragrances. It is as though each brand thinks consumers are paying 100% attention only to them.
I’m very un-tigerish in Maison Crivelli Rose Saltifolia, a soft, salty rose that I love maybe (just maybe) more than I love Iroaz, my other beach rose. I’ve been somewhat sluglike lately because of the heat, and as a result I’m antsy to do something today … but it will be close to 100 degrees. Again. Argh. I need an absorbing indoor project. Wonder if we have a jigsaw puzzle around somewhere.
Oooooo, adding this to me “to try” list. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a Maison Crivelli.
It appears to be a really interesting house — they take a very non-mainstream approach to materials and scent construction. I have another of theirs, Santal Volcanique, that is lost somewhere in Mt. Sample, and a couple more in my LS cart. And they make small bottles. Worth checking out, for sure.
Good morning all! Another warm day, wearing 4160 Tuesdays Truth Beauty Freedom Love.
What every fragrance should smell like!
Wearing Shalimar. Long day ahead.
Good luck! Perfect choice.
Shalimar is the 👸
Shalimar will power you through!
Hang in there!
Hello perfume friends! I have been managing to read but never quite getting to write any comments – sending peace and good wishes to you all. I have given myself a rose week as I needed some cheer, and I am in FM Une Rose today, so fresh and vivid. Have also worn Chanel Paris-Paris, Andy Tauer Phi Rose, and Diptyque Eau Rose this week. Beautiful, and such variety! And I have been perfume shopping this week as well but Donatella ordered me a double espresso the other night and sat me down for a chat. She is very understanding, full of wisdom and generosity and knows how messy life can be but she said Sorella, sometimes shopping is not the answer, okay? And she is right. But I am very pleased with my new Perris Monte Carlo Rose de Mai and a bag of samples to try 😃 I’m now planning to savour my current collection and take a break from the shops for a while. It has been a long time since I’ve thunked anything!
You smell wonderful!
Thank you NinaV! Hope the rest of your day will be wonderful too ❤️
I’m glad you and Donatella had such a nice coffee together! I hope your new purchases and your rose week have managed to brighten things up a little. You smelled great this week!
Thank you Sistine! I find a great deal of comfort, cheer and encouragement in roses (perhaps I could do with being a little more thorny/prickly, hmm) and I hope things are okay for you at present ❤️
Oh congratulations on your new bottle, we’re brand sisters as I have purchased PMC Mimosa Tanneron recently.
Thank you Aurora! That is the next one on my list, either that or the other PMC rose perfume. I bought my new bottle online via Bloom Covent Garden and their range of samples available to buy (as well as the samples they throw in for free) is really wonderful.
You have been smelling wonderfully rosy all week!
Thank you Vee! It has certainly helped 😀
Donatella has wisdom
She does. She also said, Coraggio ❤️
Yay for rose perfumes, and a heart to heart with Donatella!
I love reading about all the rose scents you wore this week. I’ve been in the mood for roses too!
Another 100F day, and ssssstill wearing citrusssss. Madhat Limed.
I see what you did there. 🐅
Synthetic Jungle for me today, which makes me somewhat CP-compliant? As long as the tigers are synthetic as well, I guess. More heat on tap here today.
Oh yes, this definitely counts! In fact you have given me an idea for tomorrow…
Me too!
Another hot one today, but I’m like a hibernating bear in my dark, air conditioned hotel room. Flipped on the TV to see the Full Glory of Sam Elliot at his youthful mustachioed best in the 1976 movie “Lifeguard.” Young Robbie Benson and Parker Stevenson also make an appearance. Clint Eastwood and Sam Elliot were two of my first Hollywood crushes.
Wearing Le Lion again for day number 3. This has been a good example of holding onto a scent and revisiting it periodically. You just never know when you’ll have a change of heart.
Stay cool peeps!
I love Le Lion. A full bottle is in my future. Mr. Mossy and I have been getting DVD’s of the old “Rawhide” series from the library. That show of course was Clint’s breakout, and there are so many “from here to the spaghetti westerns and beyond” moments. What I see is a game-on and professional actor who thoughtfully developed a character. A most interesting series – so much more than the campy theme song, IMHO. Oh and let it be whispered: yeah, Sam Elliott, youthful and mustachioed…
My favorite move with Sam Elliot (admittedly, I haven’t seen all of them) is Tombstone. It’s really good, and has a stellar line-up.
I just looked Up a picture of current Robbie Benson. He is still so handsome.
SOTD is Diptyque Tam Dao.
Temperature has dropped a bit today and I am about to go for a run.
Wishing you all a lovely day!
You will waft wonderfully as you run! We had a bit of cooling and I just got back from a brisk walk, my version of running! 😀
A brisk walk is great too! 😉
I love tigers, my daughter and my mom are tigers in Chinese horoscope. Such good energy. Im in Rose Ikebana just because I found a sample while organizing samples for the summer holiday tomorrow
Rose Ikebana also has good energy 🙂
My SOTD reminds me somewhat of an old painting depicting a tiger attacking a horse that I once saw in a gallery, the artist escapes me now.One of the old masters?I’ll google in a bit and post a link.
Equistrius!So good.
XO’s
P.S,today was 23°…not Spring-y you say?Haha!
✌🏻🤗🌹
Not springy at all! 😡😄
Haha!Hows your summer going M?
So far, so good! 😍
https://arthive.com/eugenedelacroix/works/3804~Tiger_attacking_the_horse
Indeed,Delacroix’s painting in the Louvre.
Oh, that is a fabulous painting! Thanks for the link, JB. When I first read your description, I thought of a famous painting by Rubens. It turns out it’s a tiger hunt and the tiger is actually attacking the rider not the horse, but Rubens excelled at these sort of animal fighting/hunting scenes. Here’s a link: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2015/jan/16/peter-paul-rubens-legacy-royal-academy-exhibition.
Ahhh yes, thank you for this one as well!Gorgeous attention to detail,I enjoy the works of Rubens immensely!
23 degrees C could be considered summer-y in some places!
23 degrees C without humidity is on the warm side of summer for me. I can’t wait for the fall!
In the last drops of my sample of Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa. What a gorgeous scent! It is beautifully shinning in this hot, muggy day we are having today. I would be more than happy to get a full bottle for my birthday! Not sure if someone mentioned that it was discontinued.
Happy almost Friday, everyone! 🌞
pl67: my lemmings are anxiously dancing around – Pao Rosa discontinued so soon??
So true! Too soon to be discontinued. Most likely the talk was about a different perfume.
I don’t recall seeing that Santal Pao Rosa was d/c’ed. But I will admit that I’ve had a lot of other things on my mind lately.
I might be totally wrong. I have been so busy lately, that I get easily confused!😕
Maybe someone else here can clear things up?
I’m still scentless, but will probably end up in Philosykos. Just sitting on the couch watching the dog sleep on the floor – she’s obviously running in her dream because all four legs are twitching.
If it wasn’t for NST I would never have tried Philosykos because fig has been a difficult note for me!
How wrong one can be…
You smell sublime!
Wore L’heure de Nuit last night and this morning and now in no 5 parfum. Forgot how fabulous the parfum is. Might get a back up bottle later on.
Ah, I managed to snag a bottle of No 5 parfum earlier this year, what a beauty! Hope you’re enjoying it.
Jo Malone Crystal Campion is my Scent of the Day and currently drinking my second cup of Earl Grey tea.
I never heard of this scent. Must investigate!
It’s from that Wild Swimming set.
https://nstperfume.com/2022/04/08/jo-malone-wild-swimming-new-fragrances/
Thanks Robin! I did not even realize it’s the name of that set … even though I have 2 of the colognes!
I think the official collection name is Brit Collection, but they do one every year so it always gets a theme name in addition.
Le Couvent Maison de Parfum Aqua Amantia – grapefruit, hibiscus, rhubarbe and cedar. Really pleasant and pretty in the heat. Not sure if I would buy a bottle but I like it and would definitely recommend to someone looking for an easy, feminine warm weather scent.
You could easily layer this with a more patchouli and vanilla thing in the fall and winter.
Oh – and it’s by Jean-Claude Elena. 😀
I wonder if they still do the Eau des missions one? That was a beutiful scent.
That one is discontinued but the bottles were enormous and affordable. It still is an affordable house and I’ve smelled some really good newish scents.
Yes! I got a handful of samples from Luckyscent from this house and am liking them all so far.
Yes! This line has recently arrived in my city and I had a very interesting chat yesterday with the courteous Caesar, who sprayed any number of perfumes for me with very appealing descriptions, and he made me feel like an A+ student when I mentioned JCE. It was very enjoyable and the affordable price range also makes it very appealing. My favourites so far are Smyrna and Hattaï but it all smells very rounded and well thought through. It is all very differently packaged and priced compared to when it was available in pharmacies a few years ago, however. But I hope you all enjoy sampling it!
Having a smoothie, dinner will be spicy kidney beans. Spent the day in Nuxe Prodigieux le Parfum which I hadn’t worn yet this summer and really enjoyed it, I like it more than its sibling Terracotta. Tonight it’s Les Néreides Imperial Opoponax which Fragrantica spells oppoponax, maybe there are two choices, it’s doing its impersonation of Shalimar very well as usual.
Thank you for this reminder of both Nuxe and Terracotta – the recent heatwave was almost too much for any perfumes but these are both perfect for a regular summer. And a Shalimar impersonator, how interesting!
Have you tried the Florale version of the Nuxe? I have not and wondered how it compares.
Copal Azur from Aedes for me today.
You smell great Lucasai!
No tigers for me this morning, I can’t see a link with Paestum Rose. However, I’ll wear my new Bengal Rouge tonight.
But Paestum Rose is so lovely 🙂
Happy Friday Eve! Wearing Rose D’Amalfi and playing some mental games with a squirrel who is stealing tomatoes off our plant. I am not unlike Bill Murray in Caddyshack .😂
My brother and his partner in SF are getting over Covid. They were both double boosted and did not have too bad symptoms overall and I am grateful for this.
My work mojo is exceedingly low right now. Some of it is continued post-vacation lethargy coupled with the ongoing implosion of the world as we know it which is, in a word, unsettling. Some strange times we have found ourselves in. I am trying to focus on happy, small things like the cherries I am about to consume and not think too far ahead…well as far as my next Fragrancebuy order…but only that far…🍒😌
I love your SOTD. How do you like it?
I really like this one too. I get lots of powdery almond goodness.
I had a rueful laugh about your tomato-stealing squirrel. We had one this summer that took every single ripe blackberry off our canes. The only berries we had for human consumption were not ripe enough.
If you come up with a squirrel-proof system, please share. We’ve got one who likes to take a single bite out of each tomato. I assume he is mostly after the tomato juice, but he could at least have some respect and eat the whole thing. 😀
This little guy has been stealing them whole and he does eat them so I feel kind of bad…he’s not being wasteful.🤣
Sending you hugs – I am feeling the same way about the world.
And oddly, also about squirrels – we had a majestic zucchini plant until the squirrels nibbled on the main stem and sucked it dry. Or perhaps it was Bunnicula?
😂 Bunnicula!!
I loved Bunnicula…thanks for mentioning…I think Mini She-ra would like series and don’t think she’s read it.
In a wrist to wrist comparison of L’Ombre Dans L’Eau EdP vs EdT. They are too close for me to justify a fb of each. The EdP has lasted twice as long and has an almost-jammy rose thing that I like, but the EdT is so sprightly! Decisions…..
Tea today has been a hodgepodge of different tea bags that I have at the office, the best of which has been Paper & Tea’s Perfect Day apricot and elderflower white tea. Elderflower beverages are the way to my heart.
Are you determined to get a Diptyque or open to other lines?
I’m always open to (and appreciative of) suggestions. Is there another rose-cassis fragrance that you’d recommend adding to the mix?
Van Cleef & Arpels Rose Rouge.
I also thought perhaps Gucci Guilty Absolue Pour Femme but I remember it being super fruity and not serious like cassis.
Oooo, I have a sample of Rose Rouge thanks to Tulipani — I need to find it and try it alongside these too. Thank you!
Vee, I’ve been doing the same thing for years with Tam Dao! 🤔
Your tea sounds delicious. I love elderflower, too. Have you tried Tazo Apricot Vanilla Crème? It’s a white tea also, and yummy.
Ha! It is because of Tam Dao that I’m doing the comparison with L’OD. I got the EDP without ever considering the EDT, and then later realized how many ppl prefer the EDT and realized I was too hasty.
I have not tried that Tazo, but if you like it, it must be tasty!
The rose notes in L’Ombre dans L’Eau flew off me at warp speed. I didn’t care for the base notes that were left at all.
Gorgeous tiger pic today Robin! Wow!
Aurora, I did sleep better last night. Turned out I need to turn the ceiling fan up a bit more now that the nights aren’t cooling off much. As long as overnight temps stay in the 70’s and 80’s, I’m going to have a few restless nights even with A/C.
SOTD = doubling down on Wrappings today. I have both the EdP and the lotion on. The cats are not a fan of this one.
And you still smell good! I wonder what it is with Wrappings that the cats don’t like?
It was definitely the lotion they didn’t care for. Neither one of the cats wanted me petting them until it wore off my hands, LOL. I suspect that the EdP is more volatile, so they don’t have an issue with it. The lotion sticks around much longer.
I see our half of the country is going to stay above average the next two weeks.
Blergh. I had no motivation at all today, and the muggies were part of the reason why.
You smell fantastic! Too bad the cats aren’t on board with this.
Thank you! I usually don’t get any complaints from the cats about any scented thing I use, so this is unusual.
SOTD = Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur
We’re back to stinking hot 🥵 and this one alleviates it somewhat!
I don’t know about you but I usually survey my meetings for the following day (the day before) and mentally get ready for them. 3 meetings got rescheduled to next week and I sprouted 2 new meetings today and 2 more tomorrow; at least they are in the morning. I suppose I shouldn’t complain!
Still trying to decide what to wear tomorrow!
Non-emergency same-day meetings annoy me to no end. If I don’t have time to prep, it is just wasted time and we’ll need to meet again after I have prepped.
My job is way way easier than yours but I orient my brain to cover certain things and I have to prepare again!
Sounds like some of those meetings are WOMBATs: Waste Of Money, Brains, And Time!
OMG – I was just thinking about this…not about what happened today but another meeting where I thought “Hmmmmph, we just had 10 people on this call and a decision cannot be made (not by us) and we just spent way more than the $x amount that it was supposed to cost.”
That’s a great acronym!
Thanks, but it’s not mine. I stole it from Mr. Jalapeno. He had his fair (?) share of those meetings at a previous employer.
I am totally going to steal this (with full attribution to Mr. Jalapeño, of course!). Now I’m day dreaming about responding to certain meeting invites with a wombat emoji and no other context. Hehe!
It seems like a reasonable complaint to me.
Thank you. I just try to roll with the punches.
Thinking about tigers this morning made me pause to wonder why Zoologist hasn’t made any perfume to honor the tiger–or any other big cat. Hmmm. I am wearing Memo Marfa today. It wasn’t so much a distinct choice as just a happenstance–I saw it in a little plastic basket in my bathroom and thought, “Why not?”. I’m having a very lazy day here. We have had a big thunderstorm this afternoon. Some drama and some rain, which we need–a good day to stay inside and do not much.
There’s a possibility of late night storms where I am at. Definitely could use some rain here. Depending on location, spots are between 3 and 4 inches short.
If you think about it, there are tons of animals they have not yet done…they picked a truly endless subject matter.
SotD is KM Canyon Dreams. Starts off with a bright orange for tigers (well, technically it’s mandarin,) and slowly segues into a soft, woody, patchouli. It sounds heavy but isn’t, and I really enjoyed wearing it today. Got a compliment on it, too!
I had meant to post much earlier, but I went over to Fragrantica to check out the old Fabergé Tigress, and no one saw me for hours! 😆
Does this ever happen to any of you? It’s like Perfume Whack-a-Mole.
It happens to me too! I get caught up in the review comments and just keep scrolling.
Yep. And then there is the “others also liked” section, and away we go!
Oh no, I’ve never ventured into that section….
LOL!
Yep. Every single time I go there. Even with perfumes I already own.
Fragrantica and Wikipedia can be ginormous time sinks for me.
So glad I’m not alone in this one!
Joining a few of you this week in Bengale Rouge. No idea what I’ll wear tomorrow.
It’s been a busy week at work, as well as busy getting ready for my annual family/friends camping trip this weekend. It’s also my husband’s birthday tomorrow, so I had to pick up some treats for him today and goad my son into making him a card!
Hope it’s a great trip! And happy birthday to your husband!
Have a nice camping trip! Happy birthday to hubby!
Safe travels, and enjoy the camping trip/birthday celebration!
Enjoy the trip and happy birthday to your husband!
My son’s mattress was delivered on time, and we have it all made up with his new bedding. I got some really good deals at JC Penney. He went from a full size bed to queen size so everything is new now. The bed takes up half the room!
My sotd is Agent Provocateur. I only did one spray though so it’s about gone now.
Woo hoo … glad it did not take a round the world tour! I hope he likes it.
Congrats to your son on his new, on-time arrived bed!
Agent Provocateur is an all-day scent for me.
Yay for his new bed! I am sure he loves it!
