A quick PSA: Donatella will be stopping by a little later than usual...expect her on Wednesday, July 6.
Meanwhile, a variation on a half-year poll we did in 2021. As always, answer as many or as few of the questions as you like, or just talk about something else.
1. What’s the best new scented thing you discovered in the first half of 2022? It can be anything, from a flower to a fragrance to a body product.
2. What new scented thing do you hope to discover in July?
3. Now that the year is about half over, what do you think is the best new fragrance release of 2022 so far?
4. Share something wonderful with us! It can be anything — good news you received recently, something delicious you ate, the latest TV series you binged — really, anything…
Note: top image is Froufrou froufrou! [flipped and doubled] by @ S@ndrine at flickr; some rights reserved.
1. It can be anything? Okay, then I’m gonna go with my latest apricot butter cleansing balm from beautypie. It smells and feels divine on the skin. (and I don’t even like apricots😬). After years of suffering with dry, cracked skin over the winter months I have finally discovered how to keep my skin moist and it’s all about restoring the moisture barrier. Cleansing balms are the bomb.
2. Hmm…idk, I’d like to try the new Musc Panache from Maurice Roucel.
3. I don’t think I have smelled any.🤭
4. Yesterday will go into the memory bank of What a Great Day. The weather was absolutely perfect, not a cloud in the sky. It was really hot, but when we got to summerfest we could feel the cool breeze coming off Lake Michigan. We rode the skyglider, ate some delicious food, watched the Dayglow concert, and then stopped for frozen custard on the way home. It was the kind of day I didn’t want to end. The only thing that would have made it *more* perfect is if my college girl would have been with us.
Today we woke up to gray skies and rain but that’s okay. We are planning to go see Top Gun in imax. SotD is Vilhelm 125th & Bloom again because as it turns out, the dry down is amazing!
Your yesterday sounds very fun, glad you guys had a great time. Top Gun will be great in imax!
Thanks ringthing, we really did have such a great time!
I haven’t been to the theaters since COVID but Top Gun may be the one that will break the streak!
Your Great Day sounds fabulous!
It was!😀 Thanks!
same here, I’ve decided this summer I will see at least one movie in a theater, and it will probably be Top Gun.
Top Gun is totally fun in IMAX.
I’ve heard that is the best way to see it. Unfortunately we all got lazy around here today with our busy day yesterday and the gray outside. We’ll stay in and rent the Downton Abbey movie tonight instead.👍
Musc Panache does sound tempting. I loved your perfect day!
Thanks MossyBerry! It was great.
Yay for your great day!
I’m supposed to get rain tonight but it’s ok since we need it.
Thanks lillyjo!
We had sun again yesterday, hope you did too!😎
an amazing drydown is a wonderful thing, like a gift you love on sight, but didn’t even know you wanted until that moment. 😉
😊
I think we can forgive Donatella’s lateness: she’s a busy woman, and she’s probably running on Italian time, too.
I have not been keeping up with new things. It doesn’t help that I live in a small city with no department stores and I haven’t been anywhere in the last two and a half years. The lilacs, always a reason to look forward to late spring, were here and are gone, and I have a bunch of pots on my balcony that should bloom into scent-flowers in a few weeks, but nothing right now.
As for deliciousness, nothing on that front, either: I’m on an irritatingly limited regime to correct or prevent various minor health issues — low fat, low sugar, low carb, low sodium, low oxalate, largely fruits and vegetables, and I have to drink two litres of lemonade and three glasses of 1% milk a day, so there’s the whole peeing thing. But tomorrow! I’m taking a cheat day (it won’t kill me) and I am having salty old Smartfood white-cheddar popcorn and Häagen-Dazs mocha cheesecake ice cream, and boy, am I ever looking forward to that.
But at least no doctor is telling me what I can or can’t smell like, so today I am in vintage Rochas Byzance, which is the most beguiling oriental: it smells like nothing else on Earth, spicy and sultry, but also the bright green of stained-glass windows. It’s like a magic trick.
I am sure I’ve smelled Byzance but it’s been years so I don’t remember. I’ll have to remedy that.
Enjoy your popcorn and ice cream!
I wore Byzance as a signature scent way back when, and you’ve described it perfectly.
Yay for popcorn – it’s almost always around my house – I do mostly pan-popped, supplemented with various fancy-schmancy bagged brands. Microwaved popcorn, and the Rural King free popcorn, too, seem to have a type of oil that gives me a funny feeling in my mouth!
You smell fabulous, Byzance was my signature scent in my early twenties.
you and Byzance smell wonderful! 🙂 I loved the ads for that perfume from the 80s and 90s, the models were stunning.
I never smell anything new either!
That would be a fun non-perfume poll: what would be your cheat day foods?
I’m wearing Aura edp today and I’ve fallen head over heels for it, so there’s a wonderful smell this year. I never keep up with new releases because, like pyramus, I have nowhere to go sniff. I love Zoologist Cow but sadly it looks as if my travel bottle got lost in the mail, boo. My PO fed me some line about it being improperly addressed which I know isn’t true; the tracking number shows it was delivered but it wasn’t, pure and simple. Just another glitch.
I do have good news. I started Noom in May and have lost 12lbs so far. I have a long way to go and exercise is still challenging so it’s going to be slow process but I feel encouraged.
Bad news about the Zoologist — even with the tracking info, your PO is being difficult? Sigh.
Congratulations on the desired weight loss. I have used Noom, as well, and found it very helpful (and some of the concepts were life-changing for me).
It could be like what chocolatemarzipan had experienced where the PO delivered to the wrong address. Hopefully, whomever you bought it from will send you another one since you did not receive anything for goods paid. The person who got it by mistake probably has no clue what to do with it.
Aura is magic, isn’t it? I had trouble deciding between the brilliant green of the EDT and the darker jungle of the EDP, but in the end I went for the flashier EDT (I have so many dark scents but not that many bright ones). You smell great!
The edt is on my horizon 😊
Congratulations ringthing, 12 lbs is great!!
Excellent progress on your health journey!
1. Bought a bottle of Sudachi juice (Japanese citrus, lime-pepper-cumin scent) which has made cooking and cocktails fun. I think yuzu juice will still be my go to favorite, but this is a nice alternative.
2. A trip in to Toronto to smell (and maybe purchase) new addition(s) to my fragrance wardrobe. Lots more to see and sniff there than what’s available locally.
3. Valentino Dona born in Roma coral fantasy (haven’t sniffed much new stuff yet)
4. It’s strawberry season at the local berry farm. 🙂
Lemming! for Sudachi juice – thanks for mentioning it!
Ha, same here!
I also tried the Kabosu juice (lemon-cucumber-melon) but I didn’t like it at all. It was super sour like lemon atomic warhead candies with this weird banana melon flavor on the palate. All 3 are from yakami orchards fyi.
We’re drinking lots of iced coffee, water, lemonade and mango iced tea while gardening today.
SotD yesterday’s was by rosie jane Angie and today’s is Lake (same brand)
We’re in for a hot-hot-hot few days here, but it’s pretty comfortable at the moment so SOTM is Carthusia 1681. Best new (for me) scented discovery is Encre Noire — can NOT believe it took me so long to try it, given the love it gets around here, but it did. So great. I don’t even try to keep up with new perfume releases, but now that the weather is less damp I’m hoping my roses will start blooming and scenting my back yard a bit more prolifically soon. And for something wonderful? Well, the shower re-caulking project came out very well AND it didn’t kill me, so … it made me stronger? 😆
Happy Weekend!
The poll:
1.Wick Fragrances keep surprising me with their new releases, and Fabulous Human edp did NOT disappoint!LoveLove!
2.Wick started a Niche perfumery club, and the second mystery perfume will be released end of July.Cannot.Wait!!
3.Fabulous Human,definitely.!
4.I have been searching for the ceramic “lemon vase” that I kept seeing everywhere in trendy magazines and home editorials, and finally found one yesterday! So happy!
SOTD!Shalimar edc.Sooo good.
XO’s
Hate when this happens!!Sorry, was supposed to be a new post.✌🏻
No worries — happy to be NST-bombed by you! 😘
I got a nice size decant of Encre Noire from someone who used to post here and it is indeed excellent!
Congrats on the successful recaulking!
My goodness is 2022 half way through already!? I can do with time slowing down a little.
1. The best scented thing so far will probably be Lush’s Sticky Dates shower gel. It is so lush (haha) and deliciously caramelly sweet. Better than their regular Honey I Washed The Kids imo.
2. I would like to find some good scented candles. I normally burn incense but candles I am into them lately.
3. I haven’t smelled too much of this year’s releases actually. The most recent were Goutal’s Folie d’un Soir which on my skin smelled like burnt cigarettes and Dior’s Miss Dior Rose Essence which was a weak pale pink rose that lasted 5 minutes. Not great so far. I am still waiting for my local shop to carry Zoologist’s Cow. I feel like I will like it.
4. Pretty steady and calm so far this year. Nothing exciting happening. Most recent delicious food I ate was yesterday. I made vanilla ice-cream with lavender honey swirls. I topped it with crushed homemade honeycomb for a bit of crunch. So good.
oooooh, vanilla lavender honey ice cream sounds like heaven! 😀
OMG, that ice cream sounds truly orgasmic!
Your ice cream sounds rather Guerlain-ish!
Happy Weekend!

You’re in love with Wick!
Would love to see what you ended up getting with the lemon motif!

That’s magnificent!
I thought so too!
Purple irises and yellow tulips,yes?Yes.✌🏻🌹
I’m happy you found your vase.
And you smell great!
Thank you!Happy Sunday!(7am Sunday morning over here…😉)
that vase is a maximalist masterpiece, love it!
EdC is my most favorite Shalimar. YOU smell wonderful. 🙂
My other vases are pretty plain, and I wanted something quirky and fun for a long time!
Plus Shalimar edc matches the vase, right?🤣🤣☀️
For those who celebrate, it is Half-Christmas!!! I plan on ordering a few things because there’s 20% off from Beautyhabit if you spend $100 or more (Code SAVE20) or if you only want to spend less, SAVE10 for $50 and SAVE15 for $75. You’re welcome. I also got an email from Sephora for 20% off but the code is personal so do check your emails!
SOTD = L’Artisan Parfumeur Ode a l’Oudh
Woot! Nice vanilla oud even for a hot hot day! Picture later, maybe.
So I went back to the Starbucks near me thinking for sure I can use my star rewards. Nope. They sent me to another store “but it’s only 3 minutes away” which I would NEVER tell someone who is already at the store ordering a drink. I called again and whomever took my complaint did not do as he said he would. I will check to see if what they promised was done. Also, I will be speaking to the District Manager when s/he calls within the next 48 business hours which I think is by Tuesday; however, that may be optimistic as the CSR would have said 2 business days … 48 business hours can be Thursday assuming a 12 hour business day.
In other news, I am enjoying a nice lunch at Seasons52. I will post pictures!
*Shakes head* over employee who sent you to the other store. I think this kind of thing is a training issue, or the fault of the manager who’s supposed to be doing the training! One of my best friends has been a bank CSR and teller for almost 40 years. She is always having to train new managers; the worst ones always try to train her, know what I mean? But the good news is, she has lately been getting special raises! As if the company actually knows the value of people who excel at customer service!
Yay for a nice lunch – I need to do that soon!
The sadder thing is I think he is the owner …
Hooray for your friend!
I can’t believe how actively they are trying to lose your business. What a bunch of idiots.
half Christmas? You are an enabling hero! 😀
I like Seasons 52 a lot. A friend of mine and I often celebrate our mutual August birthdays there.
That Starbucks seems to be earning the name “Starschmucks” in spades!
My best scented things are Sam McKnight hair mists/ sprays because he collaborated with Lyn Harris/ Perfume H on the scent, which is reminiscent of a dewy, wild flower garden ( similar to Miller Harris Wander perfume. The sprays are for casual messy hold and my favourite has a name like hair grip.
The other is a L’Occitane/ UNICEF Solidarity candle which is mainly a baby powder sweet vanilla scent with a breath of floral. It is sweet but creamy and nice in winter.
My hopes for scented July will be the flowering of winter sweet bushes in the neighbourhood and the graveyard. Maybe the sight of crocuses but probably a bit early.
My favourite thing at the moment is looking at the stars in the predawn sky through my binoculars and also watching the birds and bees feeding at the sugar water I put out. The dawn skies have been blood-orange coloured due to the ash particles from the Tongan volcano.
My poor old dog, Sprocket, has kennel cough ( he is vaccinated) and is very forlorn, hacking away. He is still eating for three so I’m not worried.
I am off to see Elvis this afternoon and am wearing La Dolce Vita. Alex has made baguettes which are in the oven. Happy weekend!

Ugh, poor Sprocket is better soon. I miss looking at the stars from very dark places.
Ear scritches to Mr. Sprocket!
Poor sprocket, I hope he is better soon!
You smell so beautiful.
We’ve been having the most incredible skies at sunset as well, peach colored and deep orange with some purple and blue tints, but I learned it’s because of a high percentage of sulphur(??!!!) that is currently in the air.
Enjoy Elvis!
XO
Hugs to Sprocket (who has a great name!)
Let us know what you think of Elvis. I wasn’t that interested until I saw the previews when I went to the Downton Abbey movie (in a theater!) and saw the previews, and I thought that guy playing him looked incredible. Tom Hanks, not so much. 😉
I would give the film 6/10. Austin Butler performing as Elvis on stage provides the main highlight; he is superb. He lifts the entire movie. Tom Hanks is terrible and lost , like a lacklustre Penguin villain from a Batman movie. The good actors in the secondary roles are all underused, and their lines are one dimensional. It feels scattered and lacking in focus with no real point of view, and the emphasis on the Colonel undermines all the best parts of the movie. Some of the political moments were embarrassing. I would have liked it more if it had a tighter time-frame ( such as just the Vegas years) rather than the childhood to death survey. Even the visuals feel like a reworking of previous movies.
Oh, that’s disappointing. But thanks for the review.
Sprocket, winter sweet, and orange sky paint a vivid picture.
Wish I were on your side of the world to see it all, 🙂
and mmmm, the smell of baking baguettes is wonderful.
Love the name Sprocket!
I am in a dark mood. GRRRRR
And I will keep it to myself to adhere to Robins’ rules.
Two fragrances on constant rotation; Chanel Eaux Paris Paris and Fenty.
Both blind buys. I knew the Chanel would be fine, but wasnt sure about the blueberry note in Fenty. I love this fragrance and the bottle has a good sized dent in it alreaday.
My iphone froze for two days and I couldnt get into my work accounts with multifactor authentication and it took two days to get an appointment at apple store. GRRRRR
Watching all of Hacks season two to keep my mind occupied.
Listening to Crossroads by Jonathan Franzen in car.
Have on new Chanel lipgloss and one of the new Chanel water tint blushes.
Quite a mood I am in.
I hear you; I was rage scrolling into the night last night on IG.
Grrrrrrrr
1. Mimosa Doré soap by Oriza L. Legrand, wonderful scent and so nourishing with its High percentage of shea butter.
2. I am looking forward to trying the new Malle you announced Robin
3.I’m hopelessly behind on new releases but have recently smelt Cow, fascinating but not sure I want to wear it
4. The strong breeze today brought the scent of linden trees in bloom from across the street
I’ve been wearing Infusion de Mandarine which always put me in a Good mood and tonight it’s YR Nature Millénaire, resinous and spicy and sweet but not too much.
I might eventually have to buy that soap!
I hope you feel better soon 🙂
Does the Chanel blush disturb the foundation on application at all?The watery-ness seems kind of tricky to work with…
No the water tint blush is really easy to apply and one drop is all you need. Doesn’t disturb foundation or sunscreen. It’s very pretty.
I was really surprised by how much I like Fenty. It’s quite well done.
I get compliments when I wear it out.
All things Chanel are a perfect coping mechanism.
Hang in there, things will get better, the pendulum will swing again.
I was in a rather foul mood myself.
Happy weekend, everyone! I’m in AG Petite Cherie, and I’m surprised. Thought I’d tried this one before and found it to be too sweet, but now I’m seriously reconsidering. This grassy, green rose is pretty fine!
I went to a potluck dinner last night which was fun. Brought breakfast cookies (lower in sugar, higher in fiber and whole grains) and ziploc bags so people could take them home. 😊
Scented thing: probably the HEB rosemary dishwashing liquid. I have a couple of other things in the queue, but next time I need dish soap, I’m picking up a bottle.
New things to discover? Now that’s a list: Papillon Hera, Hermes Eau de Basilic Pourpre, OJ Gatsby 22 and Marc Antoine Barrois Encelade. Has anyone tried the Barrois? It looks to be another leather, which he does so well. Probably will purchase none of them, but I want to try all of them.
I’ve not kept up with new releases in quite awhile, but Chanel Paris-Paris is delightful. My thanks to Vee for splitting this gem.
I must get some of that dishwashing liquid!
Paris-Paris, Hera, and the new Hermes have *almost* got me ready to go on a wild sniffa rampage. 😉
Happy weekend everyone!
Im in Chanel Rouge L’eau or whatever it’s called. I was doing last minute travel shopping at Ulta and spritzed some. It’s a very light generic smell.
Speaking of travel, we are going to Egypt for the next month and I have been busy packing 7 suitcases 😱 Almost done!
We will take a short trip to Lebanon once we are there and it turns out that the online travel site I used to make the reservation auto filled my husband’s first name incorrectly. It has been a total nightmare getting them to fix it. If anyone has encountered this predicament before and has advice please share!
If your husband has global entry or known traveler number that can help line up the information.
He only has TSA precheck unfortunately. I’m resigning myself to having to go alone 😫
Sounds like it will be a great trip (once the headache of the incorrect name is fixed). I had a similar thing happen when booking a flight. The airline had a 1-page certification that I had to fill out, sign, and mail to them to get my name corrected on my flight tickets.
1. Redescovering the smell of cardamom.
2. The new Malle and Hera. Also, all the different smells in France when I go on holiday.
3. Not sure, probably Hera (will know in a couple of days when I try it, I am leaving it for last.
4. My friend arrived from the EUA. She brought me my bottles from the splitmeet, swapmeet, freebies and lots of samples from Luckyscent and generous people. I opened them and put them all in a box. I try a different one each day. Today was Bukhara, very nice indeed. So happy.
What fun to have a box with a new scent every day! Enjoy your new goodies.
SOTD is Allure body refreshing mist
1. I love the new TF rose collections (Rose Chine. Almalfi etc)
2. Hmm..nothing at the moment
3. see #1
4. I finished A Little Life and enjoyed it even though it is a heavy read.
Next on my list are some classics to fill in while I wait..Bell Jar, Madam Bovary, some others. I am waiting for One Italian Summer to come so I can have that as one of my summer reads. I always re-read some Aciman books…
Since Donatella is dropping by on a day I maybe busy Memo Paris Ilha do Mel was a new purchase.
With the USPS still not posting to New Zealand, my options to get samples are limited, so my list of new releases to try keeps growing. My local perfumery told me they are getting some new lines in, which is exciting, but I’ve been waiting for weeks to find out details. I know some of the staff, but they wouldn’t tell me!
We had a lovely time yesterday visiting Piper, our new great niece. I wore 24 Faubourg, to give her an early introduction to quality perfume 🙂
You’re doing that little baby a good turn there!
ooooh, yes! 24 Faubourg is gorgeous. 🙂
I love all the posts so far!
Best scented product: Acqua di Parma room diffusers, from a discount site: makes the house smell clean, with a touch of basil. I finally bought a large bottle of Dans Tes Bras, which I’ve wanted for more than ten years. And I’m looking forward to the new Malle, too-It sounds like something I’d wear.
I’m enjoying my collection which I finally put into some kind of order. It all looks so nice and I’m glad to have it all in one place.
I wore Tubereuse Criminelle to work, and a coworker loves it. She can’t believe how good it smells. She’s also commented on Coromandel, which smells like fresh air to her (!) and Portrait of a Lady, which she thinks smells like an old lady (GROAN) because of the rose. But If I’m 49 and she’s 57 aren’t we……old already lol.
But the best thing is since I’m celebrating a big birthday in Jan-I started lifting weights again to protect my calcium storage, and I feel a bit stronger. If I do a bit each day then it’s a great gift to me, from me, come next Jan 🙂
Hope people have an awesome weekend filled with what ever good things appeal to them.
Carole
Dans Tes Bras is one of my most favorite perfume names. Sigh. 🙂 I have a sample somewhere, must find it. Congratulations your new FB.
Enjoy those weights! 🙂 It’s a good thing to be strong.
I have been lifting weights, walking, and jumping rope (jump roping? ha!) on the advice of my doctor. After a number of years I am stronger which feels good, and my doctor is pleased that my bone density is trending in the right direction without prescription medication.
Tiffanie, I bought a jump rope, too! Haven’t used it yet. Bone density is so important-osteoporosis sucks 🙂
I used to jump rope but it made everyone else in my (old and rickety!!) house crazy, so I switched to a mini trampoline for jumping. Either way, I swear it helps!
Congratulations on Dans Tes Bras! I love it too.
Thank you, Cazaubon! I always loved your posts, and FiveOaks, too, on the old POL forum 🙂
Yay you for lifting weights again! It’s a wonderful investment in your future health.
For the poll: 1. I’ve been much better about sampling actual sample-sized amounts, instead of “100ml samples.” Atelier d’Ors Lune Feline has been my favorite, from PurplLux subscription. I love the amount and it will last a long time.
2. Not sure of any scented moments ahead for July. I have been organizing the sample stash, so that’s likely to have some treats.
3. I’m blanking on any new releases I’ve tried. Probably there aren’t any.
4. I don’t know if I told everyone that I finally got my very own vegetable garden fenced in (against Bambi and Thumper) and planted and it’s off to a good start. I’ve been working toward clearing and preparing the area off and on for about three years. I’ve got salsa ingredients (but the cilantro was a bust), along with lima beans, squash, okra and some herbs. Okra is especially fun and east to grow.
SotD Alien. Today was the first time I got the jasmine. I’ve always thought it was amber and sweet abstract incense-floral. Off to read comments! I can’t believe Donatella is back next week!
Yay for the garden. I find you have to plant the cilantro late (like now) to avoid having it go all to flower and seed… plus herbs usually start to go on clearance to make room for the fall planting stock. We have a ridiculously large 100×30 ft garden for veggies and herbs here, but we do have the room for it… plus a busted old canoe that we turned into a planter for rhubarb and strawberries.
Thanks, Kinuknits!! I am going to restart some cilantro, and go looking for some plants too. We shall see…
Fences make good neighbors. 🙂 When I lived in the northeast US I did get tired of sharing my veggie garden with the deer.
In recent years where I live, there is no share: deer and rabbits eat it all in one night if you don’t close the gate. 😿
Good to hear that your garden is varmint free! 🦌🐇
So far so good!
1) The Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice tea that I have been tippling lately. Even during the warmer weather that cinnamon is a comfort scent and I can smell it almost clear across the room.
2) Maybe some new pretty-smelling flowers that appear along my walking routes.
3) I don’t really keep track of the new releases, I just try to keep up with my “old” stuff. 😉
4) Something wonderful. Well, I have made my way thru GW Vol. 1, then from there i read Drew Barrymore’s Wildflower, and now I am working on a collection of poetry by Edna St. Vincent Millay (2 of them actually). Not sure which book I will start next once those are done; I will let y’all know. 🙂 Oh, and I managed to see the new Downton Abbey movie before it left theaters.
I love that tea, too! It’s a great afternoon/evening tea for me because of no caffeine.
Doesn’t seem like the DA movie was in theaters long, it’s gone around here, but looks like it’s already available to stream.
P.S: today’s scent is Dans Tes Bras.
You smell beee-yooooo-ti-ful! 😀
1. What’s the best new scented thing you discovered in the first half of 2022? It can be anything, from a flower to a fragrance to a body product.
Hmmm… tough question. Maybe Papillon Hera?
2. What new scented thing do you hope to discover in July?
I got to test a bunch of new scents at Etiket and Holt Renfrew today, so many new things to try that I will have to go back a couple of times.
3. Now that the year is about half over, what do you think is the best new fragrance release of 2022 so far?
Papillon Hera and Hiram Green Arcadia
4. Share something wonderful with us! It can be anything — good news you received recently, something delicious you ate, the latest TV series you binged — really, anything…
Visiting Montreal again after two years, so happy to be home.
Aww, yay! There’s no place like home.☺️
I love Montreal
Ooh, what’s new at Holts?
Well, I have no access to the big brands in Vancouver Island and San Diego, so I was able to smell the YSL, Chanel & Dior premium lines, plus the other usual suspects: Diptyque, Hermes, TF, Jo Malone, etc. The big news was they are getting the Serge Lutens bell jars in October.
homecoming is wonderful, especially to such a beautiful place as Montreal. I’ve visited in both summer and winter – would go again in a heartbeat. 🙂
1. Tubéreuse Criminelle – Life will never be the same (in a good way)
2. Pineward (Apoteke) Holy Mountain
3. I’m busy keeping up with the oldies but goodies
4. My sweet husband set up a stand alone air conditioning unit in my Perfume Fort (his name for it) with a separate device and app that allow me to track the temp from anywhere!
Yay for handy husbands!
Absolutely!
haha! how lovely! Perfume fort makes me imagine a pillow fort for grown ups. 🙂
Exactly!
I ordered Holy Mountain, looking forward to it! And yay for your AC!
The name Holy Mountain is perfect for all the mystique surrounding it’s slow roll out 🙂
1. Best new scented thing: I am twins with happy888cat in loving Lush’s new Sticky Dates body wash. I’m also loving Zara’s Magnificently Dubai candle.
2. Hope to discover: Sounds like several of us are looking forward to trying Papillion Hera. I need to order a sample.
3. Best new fragrance release: I am a PdN fan generally, so no surprise that I am loving her new Riviera Verbena.
4. Share something wonderful: My sister is pregnant and I am about to become an aunt! I am beyond excited! This will be the first child, grandchild, and niece/nephew for all sides and it is a BIG, JOYFUL DEAL!
Congratulations for this wonderful first in your family!
That is wonderful news. How exciting!
thoughts of a new baby! that’s the most precious happiness. 🙂 Congratulations to all of you.
Congratulations!
Big congrats on your wonderful news, Auntie-to-be!
So happy for you!
1. I love my Apricot face cream from Nairian made with apricots from Armenia. I wish there was a perfume with the same scent.
2. Hope to smell Guerlain la petite robe noire Nectar, Rose Rose and the new Frederic Malle.
3. After three years of no vacation, finally I will be flying to Armenia and Istanbul.
Where do you buy your face cream? Sounds lovely. And yay for vacation!
You can get it at the nairian Canada website, it is the night serum .
https://www.nairian.ca/
That’s lovely Hera, hope you have a wonderful vacation!
1. Hands down, best scented thing is Raw Gold, by Thomas de Monaco. It was an instant swoon when I got the sample from Luckyscent. I would have it by now if it didn’t cost $300. 🙁
2. Looking forward very much to trying that new Zoologist, Sacred Scarab. In fact, maybe I will order a sample right now! 🙂
3. I’ve tried very few if any, so nothing to report here.
4. Yesterday I finished watching the Korean drama Stranger, which has a better title in Korean of Secret Forest. That was a lot to do in two weeks, two seasons with 16 very long (over one hour, very dense) episodes each. It’s honestly the best series I have watched since The Wire. I feel morose after finishing it, and am considering re-watching the whole thing again. It is just that good. I don’t remember anything with such complicated, clever, plotting, great music, fantastic acting, and noir-ish cinematography. It is initially slow but the tension builds up and up and the twists and turns keep you on pins and needles. I really cried at some scenes. You must pay close attention or you will miss something important. The two lead actors have a wonderful partnership (female cop, male prosecutor) that is a friendship and not romantic. There is some talk of a Season 3 and I will definitely be there for it. Viewable on Netflix. (It is subtitled, which I don’t have an issue with, but I confess I did get confused by the Korean names, and had to keep checking up on the cast/character list on IMDB.com to follow some of the references, until I could keep them straight.)
I will check out Stranger though it might not be on our limited Netflix . It sounds so good. Hope you ordered the Zoologist. I posted a reply to your Elvis question above.
Yes I ordered five samples right after posting this, haha! I deserve them! I do hoe you can view that show. It’s incredible.
Good on you! I just checked and I can access two seasons of The Stranger so I am very happy about that.
Sacred Scarab sounds lovely, just looked at the notes, thank you for mentioning it.
And thank you for sharing Stranger/Secret Forest. I have been on the lookout for a series to enjoy this summer. I like watching foreign language shows, I’m tickled when I start to feel familiar with the cadence and sounds of the language.
Sunday eve check-in!
Cozy in bed already(20:55pm) and just had an enoooormous mug of Ovaltine(addicted in winter!)
SOTD:Tried to re-love the Zegna Aqua di Iris but nope,it gave me a headache which called for meds and a snooze earlier this afternoon.
Our last covid-restrictions have been lifted,so no more obligatory mask-wearing indoors or outdoors. As an OR nurse I’m so used to wearing a mask daily,it doesn’t really bother me to just keep wearing it when out and about.Plus Winter is here so it can’t hurt to keep wearing it in the malls etc, right?
Be well all!
XO’s
Bonne nuit!
Oh how I love ovaltine! It’s a little expensive here so I don’t get it now( because the kids would drink it in 1 day!)
Clinks mugs with Ovaltine fans everywhere! I drink it cold this time of year, being in the USA. But it’s a staple chez Mossy😋✨
I don’t think I’ve ever had Ovaltine.
If you like the taste of malt, you’ll like Ovaltine. I grew up drinking it so it’s incredibly tasty and comforting to me (sounds like others here too 😊)
A hot humid day here, really enjoying the heat after a miserable spring. I’m wearing samples of Leather, Vanilla and Chypre shot from Olfactive Studios. Don’t feel moved to buy any of them. I will re-test Hiram Green Vetiver and Arcadia as those were the most promising.
I hope you find a perfume you love enough to buy for a vacation treat.
I think the Hiram Greens are a good possibility. 🙂
Glad to hear you are enjoying your time in Montreal.

1. best new scented thing – Eris Parfums Night Flower (from 2016 but new to me) with thanks to a wonderful NSTer who shared a sample with me. The scent is soft suede + spicy tuberose. I adore tuberose, and I get a slightly soapy facet that makes the leather appealing to me.
2. hope to discover – all the fun new scents NSTers are talking about. Thank you to everyone for sharing. I feel excited about seeking out new perfume to sniff.
3. best new fragrance release – no idea, must remedy that pronto!
4. something wonderful – my ultra-introverted daughter finally got a part-time job, what a relief. The pandemic enabled her stay-home tendencies, which was sort of ok as she continues to attend college online. It has been a struggle for her to re-enter the real world. Now that she is working and seeing friends again, I’ve been home alone several times recently for the first time in years! It’s almost too quiet at times, but I’ll get used to it.
So glad we have this comfy space to share perfume love, you people are the best. Now just past noon, it’s getting warm outside, so it’s time for a long walk.
Have a lovely day, perfumed pals. 🙂
I have a sample of Night Flower too. I think it’s gorgeous and a little sexy smelling.
Good for your daughter! And good for you for getting alone time. I know on the odd day I get it that it does take some getting use to.
Night Flower really is gorgeous, and the dry down is fabulous. I can still smell it on my arm the next day. It’s got that better-than-skin scent thing going on, so warm and wonderful. 😀
Night Flower is beautiful! And very happy for you and your daughter. I’m heading to San Diego by myself for a month after our trip to Montreal and really looking forward to that alone time.
Oh yay! Flying I assume?
Oh yes, flying for sure!
I must agree, Night Flower is a beautiful surprise. 🙂
Wishing you a safe and happy solo adventure in future!
Huzzah to your daughter! It’s a huge step for both of you.
thanks, Jalapeno! 🙂 Change is good.
Ok I will be last.
I am exhausted from a busy working weekend. Yesterday I wore Clean Ultimate Beach Day. It was no match for stinky work. Lol. Today I wore Fenty since Apsara mentioned it yesterday. It held up pretty well.
I need to smell that Fenty, the blueberry note sounds intriguing.
Hope you get a good smelling day off soon!
