It's Monday, and if you're in the US, National Mint Julep Day and Memorial Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
And if you have a friend or family member who died while serving in the armed forces, and you want to tell us about them, please do.
I am off on a long bike ride later this morning (commando because bugs), but I have Comptoir Sud Pacifique L'Eau du Gouverneur queued up for my return.
Reminder: on 6/3, for World Bicycle Day, wear something sporty (or just outdoorsy, or whatever you think fits).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning.
Sotd is TF Noir Extreme.
I have not biked for a loooong time! If I were to though, I will most probably be wearing enough bug spray for 3 đ
Currently drinking iced coffee, black.
I thought I did not need bug spray but I was wrong đ
Vintage Amazone parfum. The Amazons may not have had bicycles, but were pretty sporty, right? And this is just *so good* â a gazillion flowers but it’s not flowery, a healthy dollop of oakmoss but it’s not exactly a chypre, a glug of galbanum but it’s not really green. It’s completely its own thing, and I love it.
I have vintage edt, so I am thinking you smell fabulous! đ
Been MIA for a while since I haven’t been feeling well for a while. On vacation this week and don’t have much planned for this week. For the first time in forever, I made a purchase from TPC. Got samples of Epic 56 and Honour 43. Wanted to get samples of those for a while. Wearing Deneuve right this second but that will change when I take my shower.
Nice to see you Dawn, glad you are feeling better.
Good to see you Dawn!
Glad youâre back and feeling better, Dawn.
Glad youâre feeling better Dawn, enjoy your staycation!
Nice to see you again, Dawn! Enjoy your time off!
I hope youâre feeling much better. Enjoy the samples!
*waves to Dawn*
Welcome back! Hope you feel better and better.
I hope you feel better for your vacation week!
I wasnât sure what to wear this morning, but Robinâs into helped me outâŠIâm in IA Saint Julep for a day of organizing books and deciding which ones go to goodwill. Reminding myself that books are not children and thereâs something out there called the internet. đ
Getting together with some folks later on for a midday meal and will see how the icebox cake turns out. I seem to always break the cardinal rule not to try a brand new recipe in a company situation, but there it is.
Yâall have a fun and safe Memorial Day! đșđž
Iâm sure your cake will be great! Have a nice day.đ
Getting rid of books is so hard though!!
Hope the cake turned out.
I was going to go with a beachy perfume, but when I got up I could already tell it was gearing up to be hot and humid, so I went with Chanel Paris-Biarritz instead.
I have chicken thatâs been marinating overnight for the grill later, and Iâll make a ramen noodle salad to go with it. Ice cream for dessert.
Save me a spot! đ€€
Coming over! đ
Dinner sounds perfect!
Iâm in a smidgen of Aftelier Lumiere after discovering a spray sample in the closet. Itâs lovely and almost photo-realistic, if you know what I mean â I can smell beads of dewy liquid on stamens amid petals. Itâs beautiful but not really my thing, and Iâll switch to something sporty post-shower â wish Iâd kept some of the Aliage I wore in the 70s.
Aliage smells so good.
I havenât smelled it in decades â do you happen to know how the current version compares to the original?
I too wore it in the 70s. Last time I sniffed it in the department store about ten years ago it was recognizable but was missing that oomph. Still liked it though and now wish I had bought a bottle
Thanks!
I don’t know. My mother wore Aliage in the 70s.
Back down the perfume rabbit hole after an absence of several years. Used to be Thanna but had to change to Thanna2 after a password reset mishap! Wearing Cartier Declaration today. As far as sports – does laundry count?
It counts at my house!
Also grocery bag carrying đ
Welcome back Thanna2, and you do smell good today!
Laundry ought to count, for sure. It’s the sport I do the most đ
All my tasks at home count as sport! đ
Wearing AC Clementine California on this sunny, hot, humid day.
I am satisfied to just have finished purging all my purses, handbags, backpacks, wallets, etc. Seeing the free space is so liberating! I am taking half hour break to have a big cup of iced coffee and my next destination is the closet with my summer clothes. I need to take advantage of the extra energy I have after a good night sleep.
No cooking today. Hot dogs for lunch and pizza and a beer for dinner đđđș
Have a fun and healthy holiday! đ
Congrats on the purge! Youâre making great progress.
Thanks! It has been a very productive 5 day staycation!
Bravo on your purge! I love seeing that open tidy space.
It feels really good! Going thru all sort of papers in the next couple of weeks is going to be the worst part!
That’s the truth!
I just got a new paper shredder but it’s still a pain.
Plus I always re-open every envelope with the hope that there is forgotten money in it!đ€Ł
Lol! I have mountains of papers and sometimes, I am scared the paper shredder is going to explode in my face.
This morning I found in one of my closets 2 unopened, forgotten packages with decants and samples from swaps from a couple of years ago I wish I have the same luck when opening envelopes or when purging my bags and wallets. If I am lucky enough I will find no more than one o two pennies! đ«đ€Ł
Glad you had a successful purge! The papers are the worst but it’s liberating when it’s done.
I still have piles of clothes and purses to get rid of but at least they are out of the closet. Plus old sheets and towels can go to the SPCA.
I am trying to work on clothes and papers at the same time, but papers are time consuming and will take months before I am done with it!
Isn’t that the truth about papers? It’s a work in progress definitely. I found a few more boxes in the crawlspace, probably from when we moved here long ago.
It’s a great feeling just getting through a box!
Ooh, thatâs inspiring! I have already sorted some clothes into piles but the real work will happen after our vacation (which sort of starts tomorrow, but tomorrow is the long long drive).
Have a great vacation time! And good luck with that purging later on!
Hooray for a good night of sleep and productive purging!
đ
Having a lazy day while the laundry mountain keeps hovering over me, demanding attention, and the darned Dish Fairy didn’t show up again so the kitchen needs attention too. Once that’s all going, I plan to sit outside and have a cold beer.
Wearing gorgeous Zoologist Hummingbird today. We cooked out yesterday so I’m making some easy pasta with local asparagus.
LOL – we try to rely on the Dish Fairies too. They are always too late.
Where are those dish fairies, anyway? They aren’t at my house either.
Iâm wearing a scent called âCoconutsâ which, shockingly, smells like coconuts. Itâs from Sunday Forever. Fits a relaxed, summer vibe kind of day.
I really want to try stand up paddle boarding – will google to see if there are lakes with lessons/ rentals near me.
It is so fun! Do try it. And it’s really easier than it looks.
I have never tried yoga on a paddleboard, but I think knowing yoga helps…if you know how to stabilize your core to do a standing posture on one leg, you can paddleboard.
(And btw, did not mean to imply that you need to be good at standing one leg postures, just that if you know how to do them, you already know what it feels like to use your core to stay upright.)
Another dark, rainy day. Still no summer in sight. So Iâm wearing a fall/winter incense scent, Samharam by Arte Profumi.
I looked up your perfume and it sounds great. Just added it to my sampling list. Hope the sun makes an appearance for you today.
Morphed from a cool, damp spring to full summer in my neck of the woods this weekend–don’t even have the hose hooked up yet!
Yesterday tried my Nuit de Bakelite sample–can’t imagine spraying, it’s HUGE. Will try again in cool weather.
Sampling Hera today. It’s a robust floral on the drier side. Enjoying my sample, but can’t justify the expense at the moment.
RIP Ron Rice, creator of Hawaiian Tropic, wafted your coconutty oil during my teen years. Kinda wish I still had a bottle just to sniff once in awhile!
I still have a couple of bottles from years ago, when I used to spend lots of times at the pool or the beach. I will give them a sniff to remember the old good times!
It’s been â on and off all day, very British weather. Jardins de Bagatelle suited this weather very well and tonight it’s the vanilla/patchouli I Profumi di Firenze Hayan.
Love Jardins de Bagatelle! Have you tried the newest version? I have a Bee Bottle, and a vintage-ish original bottle.
It is such a lovely floral isn’t it. No, I’m not familiar with the newest version, is it as pretty? The thing is, vecause I recall the launch in France when I was a teenager I sought actively a vintage bottle, the scent is just exactly as I remembered it, it’s not aged at all, I have an edp and I believe the first launched was the edt, but they’re very similar.
I have not tried the new heritage collection version, either. Like you, I find the older bottles have aged very well, in both the edp and the edt, but I don’t remember which came first. One of these days, I will get one of the new versions and report!
*because
Well, I had a brief time in my life of enjoying bike riding, but these days I prefer to keep my feet on the ground and go slow. Vintage Dune for a day of remembrance and gratitude for soldiers and the military forces.
I have an electric bike with fat tires…and my non electric bike is a mountain bike. My days of a fast road bike are done too đ
Hey all! It is super hot here today and my AC is still out, plus I seem to be coming down with a cold (I hope it’s just a cold). I haven’t been sick in two and a half years, and I’m still being careful with masking, so who knows where this came from. I’ll take a test later on to make sure it’s not Covid.
I need to plant most of my seedlings, but it’s too hot today and then it’s supposed to rain for a few days, so maybe next weekend. I’ll put a few of them in pots in front of my apartment, but all the rest will be going into my raised bed in the community garden. I’m so excited! I’ve been babying my plants, and I’m so curious to see how they’ll turn out. I’ll have at least ten varieties of tomatoes and two of cucumbers.
Off to take a cool bath now, and then I think I’ll wear some Bulgari eau parfumĂ©e au thĂ© vert. Happy unofficial start to summer, everyone in the northern hemisphere!
Oh no, so sorry!
Hope you feel better, hope you test negative, and hope that a/c gets fixed.
But 10 kinds of tomatoes is at least something to look forward to!
It’s a dull and wet morning here, not the best for the walk to work. I’ll fortify myself with 31 Rue Cambon.
Sorry Gaynor! Hope the perfume helped.
SOTD = Pacifica Tahitian Gardenia Hair & Body Mist
Nice! Itâs quite floral but nothing I couldnât stand. 8 spritzes lasted about 5 hours, not bad!

In other news, I was not aware that the Amazon counter at While Foods is open limited hours. In fact, the counter person couldnât help me because not only was I unable to get the code, the counter was not able to bring it up either. So I went back today. While the code was generating, the counter person was able to find my 2 packages. I find this kinda creepyâŠ
In more other news, the May 2022 Readerâs Digest had a snippet of overused phrases. Which ones have you used?
– No worries
– Circle back
– Deep dive
– New normal
– Youâre on mute
Iâve used all except âcircle backâ. If I set aside $1 every time I used these phrases, I would have enough to purchase a nice bottle of perfume in no time.
I think I might have used Deep dive a few times. The rest I don’t use.
I use “no worries” constantly, but that’s the only one. And, not going to give it up, it’s terribly useful!
I use ” No worries” quite often.
The only one I’ve never heard is “you’re on mute.” And the only one I’ve used is “no worries” but not much because I could see my favorite English teachers scowling at the use of cliches when I said it.
This list of most used phrases is most fascinating! I am definitely guilty of using “no worries” a lot, but hardly say any of the others, except “you’re on mute” when needed…. come to think of it, I usually say “you’re muted”!
I have used “no worries” a few times, but usually feel myself cringe right after. At work, “circle back” and “deep dive” were used by a few people, usually a manager.
I am guilty of using âcircle backâ. I think I avoid using âno worriesâ as much as possible.
My number one annoying phrase use is the substitution of âno problemâ for âyou are welcomeâ. I guess there is precedent in the Spanish âde nadaâ in response to âgraciasâ , maybe just sounds better in Spanish.
I would like to add âglide pathâ and âgoing forwardâ to that list.
I wore Molecule 02 today for returning to work.
As a consultant I have stripped myself of all these. I have learned to say âmy pleasureâ instead of no worries.
Glide pathâŠ..whoa
Happy Memorial Day USA!
Sotd was Kouros,it reads kinda sporty in a gym lockerroom kinda way,no?
Lol…I don’t think I have anyt…oh wait.
I do own Michael Jordan’s fragrance,Dior Higher energy…but nothing containing the actual word “sport”.
I do enjoy Formula 1,a good match of cricket, and of course our national obsession that is rugby.
XO’s
Lol at Kouros!
Adding Kouros always reminds me of Bear. I sure do miss him.
My only real sport fragrance is the old PdN Balle de Match, now Eau de Sport. But I watch no sports, and don’t do any sports either unless you count biking!
Hahaha, this cracked me up!
I do have a sample of Dior Homme Sport, I have no idea why a salesperson at Sephora decided to hand it to me when I purchased something. I’m a very unathletic looking lady. Like you, I do love Formula 1, which surprises many people since I drive a Prius and mostly observed the speed limit! đ€Ł
Remembering those who served, today and every day! đșđž
Wearing Shalimar MVP for a misty chilly day. Weâve been here a week (free camping for 7 days) and are getting ready to move on tomorrow morning. Itâs been nice to sit still for a few days, not to mention saving some $ on gas. I have 2 more weeks before work starts and Iâm thinking of doing a modified Cascade Loop tour. Itâs still pretty chilly here and while the campground was busy for the holiday, most people left yesterday and itâs early enough in the season Iâm just going to wing it without making reservations.
Happy Monday!
I hope it’s a great adventure!
What fun…hope you find some perfect camping places.
Working tonight. It’s 88 degrees.
I finally felt comfortable enough with the weather to put the snow brush back in the trunk for a few months. Lol.
My sotd is Chloe Love Story eau Sensuelle. ( ugh to the name)
Do you ever have those days when you just don’t want to wear the ” good stuff”? I spend so much time sniffing out great perfumes and on a day like today I am just “eh.. this will do” strange.
God Bless and thank you to those who have sacrificed for our freedom!
Absolutely! It happens to me very often. There are days when the good perfumes are boring and unappealing. I just need to wear something not demanding or cheap and unpretentious.
It’s so nice to have the long weekend, and in great memory to those who have died in service.
I’ve had a very busy weekend with errands and chores. It feels like SO MUCH is taking place in the last couple weeks as the school year wraps up.
SOTD is Santal Complet, one of the very few scents with a coconut note that I enjoy. Sadly, way out of my price range; I treasure my sample.
Paris-Deauville today. We leave tomorrow for vacation! A week at the beach, punctuated by my nieceâs high school graduation. I do not have any sporty scents, but popped my two beachiest ones into my bag: Madie (By Rosie Jane) and a sample of M. Hulotâs Holiday (CB I Hater Perfume), which is forgotten I had. The latter REALLY takes me back â Coppertone all the way.
I wore Samsara edt today. It was more jasmine forward, possibly from the humidity in the air.
You smell lovely.
Thank you, apsara!
Scent of the day is Desarmant but mostly I’ve been getting whiffs of Pretty Machine since it was yesterday’s scent and must have gotten on my shirt. Went to an art fair on Saturday and bought a small embroidery picture so that I have something new for the new house
Hi fragrant friends
SOTD was indochine
So beautiful it is.
A nice so cal day laid across bed and read
cleaned garage.
My sister has 3-4 bikes. Her son own bike stores. She and I have reservations to meet in Santa Fe in July and she has booked a three hour bike ride and I have booked two hour spa appointment.
We lost a family member four years ago in Iraq. He was 37. So young.
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss apsara. He must be missed terribly. Sending fragrant hugs your way.
I am so sorry.
Appreciating all who have served. Many lives cut short.
