(PSA: we are leaving on vacation. Sunday and Monday will be travel days, then I'll be back on Tuesday, but posting will be less reliable than usual until I'm home on the 16th.)
Meanwhile, Saturday is National Absinthe Day, Sunday is The Day of the Dude and Monday is the start, maybe, of National Procrastination Week. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, your favorite fragrance to wear while you avoid doing what needs doing, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

All I can do is wish you a happy vacation, Robin!
I’ll decide my scent later, after I finish my coffee. I wore Twilly last night when we met friends for dinner, to stay on CP theme.
Thanks LizzieB!
Added Le Douceur de Siam before I slip-slided to the post office. Melting snow and a bit of freezing rain on our unpaved driveway made it entertaining.
(Reading my original comment, I found it odd. I meant all I could do at that moment was wish happy vacation, since I hadn’t decided on a scent yet…)
And I was likely not fully awake, despite coffee and SAD light shining. But I’ve now had some nice oatmeal with raspberries to perk me up.
Have you tried any of the Twilly flankers? I liked the original .
I haven’t. I do like the original. It goes into the no-brainer category for me when I just want something nice and easy.
We’re moving to a new apartment some time next month (we get the keys April 1st but are keeping this place until April 30th to reduce stress), so I *should* be cleaning and discarding and packing, but I keep… not doing it. I have lots of time, I tell myself. I won’t be saying that in six weeks.
Today I’m procrastinating in Escada Casual Friday. (I know it’s Saturday, but they can’t tell me what to do.) Very warm, very spicy, unexpectedly floral for a men’s scent. Most of the iconic men’s fragrances of the nineties were fresh, but this one bucked the trend, which may be why it was discontinued: a shame, because it was an unsung masterpiece.
That sounds like great scent. Will look it up.
Good luck with the move! Nice that you will have some overlap between your two places.
Bon courage for the move! Smart to overlap the leases.
Overlapping leases is such a good gift to yourself when it is possible! Good luck with the move!
Have a great vacation Robin!
Today’s my perfume class with Victoria on roses so I’m not wearing any perfume yet — hopefully teaching this class will provide her some sort of mental respite from what’s going on
Oh what fun! (and I hope so too, she must be so stressed)
Please report back. Sounds so interesting.
The class was wonderful — I learned so much and it was great to interact with her in person!
Hi Yasmina, I was there too. I really enjoyed it.
I also signed up for the Chanel no. 5 one.
Hera, did you see your namesake perfume will be released May 17? 🙂 By Papillon Perfumery.
Nice to have seen you on Zoom Hera!
I didn’t know that cazaubon. Thank you
I am intrigued, I would definitely check that out.
Nice seeing you here.
Fun! Those classes seem to sell out so fast.
Safe travels Robin!
I stopped procrastinating TODAY actually, regarding something I absolutely loathe:online shopping.
Finally caved in and ordered two discovery sets from another South African brand:House of Gozdawa.Agata Karolina is the owner/perfumer,and they all sound delectable(Ghost and Hel in particular)
SOTD!
Moving away from local perfumes in Chanel Coromandel edt,the original batch.Slightly annoyed at the wonky sprayhead,if you consider the hefty pricetag of these.Despite that I smell fabulous.
Happy Saturday!
XO’s
I did not even know you had so many local brands, J, that’s wonderful.
I’ve been on a mission of discovery myself, lately, and it’s been both wonderful and horribly bad.Lol.
Well, that’s about what you’d expect, right? It is the same here.
You do smell fabulous!
Thanks!I sure did!
Wearing Chanel 31 Rue Cambon. This makes me avoid everything except feeling pretty?
I am curious about anyone’s experience with Dame Perfumery. I have been looking at a few of the fragrances. The prices seem reasonable.
Have a great vacation and stay safe Robin.
Black Flower Mexican Vanilla,Desert Rose and the Mate/Helitrope and something were all 3 winners to me,especially Desert Rose!(like WOW!)
I received them in a freebie package from a kind NST’er many moons ago,and I used them till the very last drop!
Desert Rose is really special,I classified it with Phi Un Rose as one of those “extraordinary roses”.
I think you’ll enjoy the range, there seems to be something for everyone.
P.s.,luxe house twins today!!?????✌?
Thanks J. They sound good.
Yes, I see we are house twins. I happen to have Coromandel too. I was trying to decide between the two today.
Maybe I should do 31RC tomorrow then,it’s been ages.
Jeffrey Dame seems like a really nice man and he’s generous with samples. Reasonable prices and small sizes available. I wish more of the scents work for me but the only thing I’ve really liked is New Man musk and Dark Horse. Hope this helps a little.
I heard he was very nice. I know he is in Arizona and I lived there years ago. I was wondering if he had a shop down there.
I am a big fan of Dame Perfumery. I recently received samples of his latest releases of Chocolate+ EdT, Chocolate+Rose, and Pineapple Musk. All very well done. I am thinking about getting a full bottle of Chocolate+ Rose soon.
I love Minty Man, Chocolate Man, New Musk, Singularity, Desert Rose, Soliflore Mimosa, Honeysuckle, and Gardenia. I still need to try many of their scents. They have a postcard program where you send a postcard of your city or state and they send you a sample of your choice. Jeffrey Dame is pretty generous in sending samples. It is a brand worth trying.
Thanks for your comments. I see J mentioned Desert Rose as well. I was thinking of the Soliflore Tuberose. Also, someone mentioned another time about Cassis, Rose and Sandalwood. That one sounded good to me.
I did see on his website about the postcard program,
I believe he lives in Arizona and was curious if he had a store down there. I lived there years ago.
I highly recommend Cassie, Rose, and Sandalwood. I have not tried Soliflore Tuberose since that is a note I cannot wear. Have fun exploring the brand!
Hi! I really like several of Jeffrey Dame’s perfumes and have reviewed some of them on my own blog. Black Flower Mexican Vanilla is great, and I love JD Duality. The quality is excellent, which adds to the reasonableness of the prices. And yes, he’s very generous with samples! His samples are a nice size, too, plenty to really try out a fragrance.
Oh, Duality does sound good. Thanks.
I know many people mention Black Flower Mexican Vanilla on here. May have to try that too.
I’m echoing many of pl67’s comments – Desert Rose and Cassis Rose and Sandalwood are two of my favorites as are Earth Mother, Black Flower Mexican Vanilla and Dark Horse. I love a good chocolate note and, IMO Jeffrey Dame is the Master Chocolatier of Perfumery – his newer chocolate scents are great as well as the original Chocolate Man. In the soliliflore range, I really like the osmanthus. JD Vanille Farfelue is a new favorite of mine. Great and affordable prices. Yes, he is very generous with samples and the best most personal customer service you can find. What you might enjoy really depends on your personal taste and the notes you like best. Send him a postcard and get started!
Thanks so much Laila! Can’t wait to try some of these.
SOTD is Bucoliques de Provence, for a haircut appointment and more moving things in the house back to where they belong. I’m itching to get out into the garden, but it’s still a bit too chilly for that — guess I’ll just have to stay inside, enjoy my refreshed walls, and immerse myself in more Smitten Kitchen.
Not a bad plan. I’m going to get out to weed a bit. Just north of you in Seattle. Looks like a decent day but can’t wait for a bit of warmth.
Have a great time, Robin!
Today is one of those freakish days we sometimes get in March, where the temperature gets to 70F (right before 25F and snow Monday) and we spend 2 months hoping for 70 again. I’m opening windows and cleaning while wearing Aura.
Are you getting the high wind tonight? I just got upgraded to a warning. Also expecting snow Monday.
We are under a wind advisory. Stay safe lillyjo!
Commonly known as either “Fool’s Spring” or “ Spring of Deception”
I am successfully procrastinating and delaying my weekend chores in FM Bigarade Concentree. This one is a tad too masculine for me, but I was craving something crisp this morning and bitter orange came to mind.
Bon voyage, Robin!
I am refusing chores this weekend.I am on standby for work as well,so NO.??
I am procrastinating on gathering tax items. But I did vacuum and mop yesterday.
BC really really really (really!) does not work on me either.
I wish I tried Cologne Bigarade, but my local store only carries Bigarade Concentree, and I wouldn’t blind buy the first one after the experience I had with BC…
It doesn’t work for me either. They both remind me a bit of Declaration, another Jean Claude Ellena that I just can’t wear.
BC smells like BO and no can do
That’s my favorite Malle — thankfully I don’t get any of that cumin BO stuff in it!
Wearing Cloon Keen Bel Etage — I’m still in the first hour of it so don’t know how it will develop on me, but it lovely and soft and perfect for the astonishingly sunny day that Galway is having.
The city center is full of buskers raising money for international relief charities, and on my way home I got pulled into a set dance beside a group of trad musicians — I am not a great dancer and didn’t know this dance at all, but the three other women taught me and I’ve not been this happy in a while — for those of us who are able to be out and about, dancing, music, and sunshine can be awfully therapeutic.
That sounds wonderful ?
♥ this!
How wonderful!
Love it.
❤
???!
Enjoy your vacation time, Robin!
Thank you, everyone, for your supporting and encouraging words last week. I read each one of them. They were very comforting and deeply appreciated. Things have not improved much, unfortunately. However, I decided to take a break this weekend to rest and decompress a bit, so I am relaxing at home. I am taking my first cup of coffee and will try to catch up on NST posts today. While I have not been wearing my perfumes lately, shower gels, body lotions, and candles have been of big help to make me feel better. My sisters with their families will stop by tonight after visiting my mother in the hospital to have pizza. We need to share a simple and pleasant moment together. Next week is in God’s hands.
While having insomnia last night, I went thru part of my perfume collection. I started doing some purging, so I will post some freebies before or during the swapmeet.
Looking forward to temperatures in the upper 60’s, lower 70’s tomorrow and Monday. Despite the rain, they are more than welcome. Spring is around the corner!
Have a healthy and peaceful weekend, everyone! ?
You’re doing the best you can. Sending peaceful thoughts to you and your family.
Thank you, Galbanumgal!
I’m so glad you’re giving yourself a break this weekend! It’s been a long, hard slog for you. Sending you warmest best wishes and cyber hugs!
Thank you, Old Herbaceous!
I am thinking of you and I hope you can find some restful moments during such a stressful time. Sending you a golden autumn hug!
Thank you, Kanuka! Sending hugs back! ??
Somehow my comment got under hajusuuri last week, but I did mention that you need to take care of YOU. I hope life gets better for you. Sometimes it is just not easy. I know last year I went through the death of my mother and stepfather plus my ex-husband and his mother. I thought it would never end. Luckily, I have a supportive husband.
Good thoughts coming your way.
Thank you, Kris! I am sorry to hear all you went thru last year. Life has been so difficult for many of us in the past two years. You have faced tougher times than me and I am glad to hear you have been overcoming them with the support of your husband. Family is always important during difficult times. I am trying my best to take care of myself, even though sometimes is quite complicated. But I still hope things will improve in the near future. Sending hugs your way! ?
I hope you have a nice dinner with your sisters.☺️ Thinking of you!
Thank you, Madtowngirl! Looking forward eagerly to seeing them later! ?
Pizza with family sounds like the perfect recipe. Take care.
Thank you, LizzieB!
Glad you were able to take a break, albeit short. I continue to wish everyone well and hope there is good relief soon!
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
Sending lots of love your way.
Thank you, Springpansy! ?
Sending healing and calming prayers to you, your mother and your whole family. Big soft hugs.
Thank you, Cazaubon!
I thinking of you and your family
Thank you, Yasmina!
❣️Hang in there,M!
Plus pizza does help too…
XO’s
Thank you, J B! ❤
I am wishing you a peaceful weekend and a good night’s sleep.
Thank you, Lillyjo!
Sending more hugs and well wishes for your family members. Enjoy that pizza and the break from All The D@mn Happenings!
Thank you, Jalapeno! We had a peaceful time together and enjoyed that pizza!
Nice to hear you are getting a bit of rest. So sorry that things are not improving. Please be kind to yourself. ??
Thank you, Annie! Please keep us in your prayers! ??
Biggest hugs to you. You and your family are in my thoughts.
Thank you, Sistine! ?
Hope you’re enjoying a peaceful, calm and restorative weekend. ?
Thank you, Laila. It was a nice, quiet weekend!
I’m wearing BK Amber Oud by Calice Becker. Still taking points even if we’re done. 😉
Relaxing and reading the paper with coffee and Mr. SP this morning. One of my favorite things to do on Saturday morning!
Double points! Have a lovely Saturday.
Sleep up, people! The dreaded (by me) spring forward happens next weekend.
March is waffling between lion and lamb–damp and chilly yesterday, but 61 right now with thunderstorms coming in the evening. Hmm, need to match this with a rollercoaster-type scent.
Will have to give the choice some thought.
What? Already? Thanks for the warning though. We usually have chaos scheduling meetings.
Dreaded by me, too. I hate that time change; it just means darker mornings.
Not a fan of the clock-touching either. I wish we could pick one or the other and stick with it.
Have a wonderful holiday Robin! You deserve it.
I have a question. What perfume would you consider ( and suggest to a perfume lover) as a failsafe blind buy. Asking for a friend!
For example, I would consider SL Bois de Vanille a failsafe blind buy option for anyone interested in vanilla perfumes. But what about failsafe amber, incense, iris , Chypre , floral, spice, rose etc etc. Or a failsafe fun perfume?
Wearing lust this warm morning.
What a fun question! I will be interested to see everyone’s responses. The first that came to mind for me was also a vanilla: Atelier Vanille Insensee. It’s one of my most complimented perfumes and seems to be a real crowd pleaser. Amber is bit trickier, some can be really thick and overwhelming. For chypre, I’m gonna say No 5 Eau premiere. Iris, VC&A Bois d’ Iris. Incense, maybe Kyoto. For sandalwood, Tam Dao.
Have you ever checked out thenonblonde’s perfume lists by note? I find them to be good reference lists.
Seconding Tam Dao for sandalwood and Chanel No 5, but my suggestions would be the L’eau version. Then Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur if your friend likes floral musky scents, and Essential Parfums Rose Magnetic as a safe but beautiful rose scent.
In the fun, cheap & cheerful category, maybe 4711 or something from Fresh, like Hesperides Grapefruit~
https://www.fresh.com/us/fragrance/hesperides-grapefruit-eau-de-parfum-rollerball-H00002532.html.
Know you’re not in the U.S….not sure whether Fresh is a global company.
I consider Stella to be a safe and pleasant rose. It’s cherry to me.
Seconding this. Stella is a safe and well done rose.
Chanel Cristalle EdT, Chanel 19 EdT, Annick Goutal Vanille Exquise, AC Vanille Insensee, 10 Corso Como, CdG Kyoto Prada Infusion de Rose, Prada Infusion de Mimosa, Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom.
I thought of JM Mimosa and Cardamon too. And Kyoto probably.
I would have to agree on Vanille Insensee. I blind bought that and love it ?
Although they are expensive I would probably suggest blind buys for some of the Jo Malone colognes.
I am also a huge fan of the Atelier Vanilla. So good!!
Bvlgari Omnia (the original) is a crowd pleaser. It’s unique and present without being big and bombastic. If they want to go big money, Chanel Box of Eels is a very classy under the radar scent.
Chanel Box of Eels? Best auto-correct ever!!
I think “Box of Eels” came about from one NSTer’s husband mishearing the perfume name.
I feel like there’s no failsafe blind buy…but maybe a fragrance that sells well? La Vie Est Belle, I’m looking at you
I also feel like there’s no failsafe blind buy…tons of fragrances listed in this thread that I don’t like despite liking the category!
Incense I’d suggest CdG Avignon or Man,Rose is difficult, because do they like it floral/green/spicy/woody?
No.19 for Iris,Encre Noire for Vetiver.
Actually,Nahema is great for Rose.
Tuberose, well Fracas all the way(and Carnal Flower)
For tuberose I would pick Gucci Bloom or Alexander McQueen.
For fun and compliments I would pick any from the Black Opium line.
My Black Opium Neon is my most complimented perfume by a long shot (okay, so none of the other perfumes I wear are ever complimented …so there’s that).
Same here. I almost always get a compliment when I wear it.
Incense: AG Encens Flamboyant; great lighter but still spicy frankincense scent. Or either Cdg Avignon (very churchy!) / CdG Kyoto (Japanese temple).
Rose: Elizabeth & James Rose Nirvana; discontinued but available at a lot of discounters yet. Also Dame Cassis, Rose & Sandalwood is a lovely sweet thing.
Designer: Chanel No. 5 L’Eau. The only FB Chanel I have. although I am seriously lemming No. 19 as well.
Vanilla: Atelier Cologne Vanille Ensensee was not love the first time I tried it, but it has grown on me. The Adam Levine for Her also might be an option, but it’s sweeter than the Atelier.
Amber: tricky! AG Amber Fetiche is a solid, rather lovely middle-weight amber.
Fun: this is probably the most difficult one for me, since fun can mean so many different things to people. I would say No blind buys to this category. My “Educated Guess” pick would be Arielle Shoshanna Saturday if you know it would appeal to the person in question.
Green: Ag Ninfeo Mio or Chanel No. 19.
My amber might be Ambre des merveilles or artisan l’ambre extreme
Forgot to mention that I don’t think there is such a thing as a failsafe blind buy for chypres. They are polarizing… people either love them or hate, hate, hate them!
That Hermes Ambre is a solid pick!
Really fun topic, Kanuka! I agree with the “no such thing as a failsafe blind buy”. Someone’s perfumed heaven can be someone else’s hell and there is no way to know. Take iso e super for example. However my picks (based on my own and other’s reactions) would be
– rose: La Douceur de Siam -vanilla : Guerlain Shalimar MVP or Cuir Beluga,
– incense: Bois d’Armenie
– amber : Shalimar MVP, Coco EDP or Grand Soir,
-fun? maybe a playful tuberose like Vamp a NY or Amouage tuberose (not sure why I think of these perfumes, probably because of the sweet and bubblegum quality that evokes a birthday patty) or Prada Candy!
-green: Chanel 19 edp, Phylosikos
-iris : Splendiris by Dusita (I find almost everyone- even perfume haters in my family- really like it and I get tons of compliments; also very well liked in forums such as this.
– Chypre – Nahema is a Chypre of sorts with the oakmoss base but mixed with that lovely complex rose- people around me seem to like it too.
What a fantastic list. I am writing them down.
Thanks everyone for helping. I will note everything down. I am very tempted myself in most of these. Have a fun Sunday!
These would be my picks (echoing several people above):
Incense – CdG Kyoto or CdG Black
Iris – Dusita Splediris
Floral – EL Pleasures (assuming by “floral” you mean “all the flowers” )
Spice – Bvlgari Omnia & PdN Cuir Cuba
Rose – Stella
Fun – Zara Jo’s Rhubarb (I think most perfumes featuring rhubarb would fit the bill, but Zara’s has the added fun of being inexpensive)
Have a wonderful vacation Robin!?
I’m in Santal 33. They totally missed on the forecast. It was supposed to rain all day. It did rain this morning and then the sun peeked out for a little while and I ran some errands. Looks like more rain later this afternoon with temps close to 60!
I picked up a new blow dryer, my current one has been dying for awhile. Losing both temp and power, I decided to replace it before getting stuck with wet hair some morning when it decided to fully quit. Spent a little bit more money than I did on the last one. It’s mind boggling to me that they run anywhere from $30 to $400!? So confusing! Can there possibly be that much difference?
I hear the Dyson is worth every penny. I go quite cheap myself, because I don’t want ionic or anything. My hair texture is naturally like glass, so I like to ruffle it up a bit. Hope your new one works out well.
I started the day in Bee, nice and early for heading out to the grocery store. I was there at 8:30 with the other compulsive shoppers. We’re having guests over for dinner and for once I am commandeering the kitchen (my husband loves to cook, and he really only has time on the weekends–so usually I cede all major cookery to him when we have guests–but sadly he is at a funeral–a terrible tragedy that I am humming out of my mind). I’m making an old 80s staple, Chicken Marebella with loads of dried apricots and prunes, and juicy green olives. Plus trout pate and Yorkshire pudding for starters, and green goddess salad. Hmmm… now that I look at that list, I see I am definitely having some sort of 70-80s nostalgia. Funnily enough I’ve been dancing to Joan Armatrading while cooking—nostalgia for sure.
Drop the pilot, try my balloon
Drop the monkey, smell my perfume
Drop the mahout, I’m the Easy Rider
Don’t use your army to fight a losing battle
Animal, mineral, physical, spiritual
I’m the one you need, I’m the one you need!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway. I started in Bee, but just decanted several decants worth of L’Air du Temps, also circa a while ago—but I think probably late 80s or even 90s. So I am now dripping with old Nina Ricci, waiting for the first few off notes to blow away.
As others have expressed, I am finding this time in the world particularly painful and am so pleased to have this silly, warm space to talk about something else. (But if you need to talk about what is dragging you down, that is okay too.) And to find out that some Frenchman launched National Procrastination Week? Just wonderful. Really wonderful.
Love that song!!
As I typed out the lyrics I thought about who on NST might dance in their kitchen to Drop the Pilot, and you were who I thought of ♥️??!
Haha!Of course!
Follow it up with Kyrie and my day is made!????
Hope your dinner is wonderful tonight, and that your husband is not going to be too sad.
mmmmmm, vintage L’air du Temps is a treasure! 🙂
Want some? Very happy to share it!!! ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net
oh, thank you OF! but I have a vintage splash bottle of L’air that I adore. ?
Wearing Gabriella Chieffo Lye but I took a photo of yesterday’s Prada Infusion d’Homme.

You make everything look so good!
Thank you so much
So neat and peaceful photo! Beautiful!
Happy you see it that way.
Lovely photo, lucasai! It’s so very calming.
Just the way it was meant ?
Beautiful photograph, lucasai.
wonderful photo, simplicity and beauty walk hand in hand. 🙂
I’m wearing a few drops of Infusion d’Homme from a sample on one wrist, a spritz of Les Infusions Amande on the other. Thank you for reminding me that Prada makes great scents.
Robin, enjoy your vacation!

It is so wonderful. I found my bottle while cleaning. If you must know (and now you will), there were 3 other bottles in the bag: Annick Goutal Heure Exquise EDP, Adam Levine for Him and Adam Levine for Her. Hey, maybe we can do a CP – Lost and Found – wear a perfume you misplaced and found again.
As I anticipated, I worked for a few hours today. Hopefully, there’s learning to be had out of this pilot.
Here’s hoping everyone has a good weekend and a good week ahead!
Well after my enormous box-purge my perfumes are actually more scattered around the apartment than ever.I’m constantly surprised by what I actually have!Haha! And it’s wonderful.
You smell wonderful!
That’s like finding a twenty in your back of the closet pair of jeans – such a pleasant surprise!
That’s a nice little mini-stash of perfumes you found!
My favorite AC — you smell great!
Great idea for a CP!
Bon voyage, Robin!
I’m wearing Saturday today, for a sunny spring Saturday (though not terribly warm, just around 10C again. I’m opening the south-facing windows, anyway. Fortunately a little less kid running today (literally and figuratively), since her track coaches are all out delivering manure for their fundraiser. (Yes, her track club does a manure sale…it’s mushroom manure but still I giggle about it. Makes a lot of sense, though…more helpful than the chocolate and pizzas I used to have to sell.)
Yes…useful but funny!
Man, that is a fund raiser I would support!!!
The high school music department in the town where I used to live does a curbside Chrismas Tree pickup fundraiser in January and then a mulch fund raiser in the spring (with mulch made from the chrismas trees they picked up). Brilliant, and such a better fund raiser than candy or coupon books.
I’m in Ambra Aurea today because it has turned bitter and ugly. No, not speaking of my heart, but of the weather!
The sky is grey and black with heavy gravid clouds scraping, and often obscuring, the mountaintops. The wind is howling and whipping the van with a combo of rain, sleet and snow, with occasional pops of sunshine. It’s cold but not biting. Good snuggling/sleeping weather! I smell good and I’m toasty warm sipping hot coffee and cooking up some breakfast/lunch/dinner, depending on your time zone.
Friday was my birthday and I was very tempted to call off, but I didn’t. I figured the best birthday gift to myself was getting paid! Good thing too, because we were already very short staffed. For some reason, we are back in 2020, having to beg for PPE. Being told again we must reuse single use items. The US healthcare system is appalling. I feel like I owe every patient a sincere apology.
Happy belated birthday, Deva! ?????
Happy belated birthday Deva! Don’t let the turkeys get you down.
Happy birthday fellow Pisces!
Happy birthday, Deva! Hope your weekend is free of nosy park rangers ??
Happy Belated Birthday Deva!!
I always take the day on my B’day, don’t like being fussed about.Lol.
Seriously, how are we in SA NOT struggling with PPE/resources,but the US is?
Baffles the mind.
Sending a warm hug!
XO’s
Happy belated Birthday!
Happy belated birthday, Deva! So sorry you are back in 2020; wrong on so many levels.
Happy Belated Birthday, Deva! ?
I was just reading about U.S. manufacturers of masks (not so sure about other PPE) have been priced out by below cost alternatives made outside of the U.S. In this day and age, there should be incentives to buy American-made. I say the companies that got COVID relief should have to pay a certain percentage of profits back in taxes…and no hiding behind where they are incorporated. There is no such thing as a free lunch and I feel that the ones who can least afford it get stuck with paying.
Back when I first started retail (mid 80’s) there was a big push to sticker made in the U.S.A products and customers would come in looking for those stickers. Lately I have noticed that products are coming in that say designed in the U.S but then a smaller sticker saying it is actually made somewhere else.
Happy Belated Birthday Deva! Also, Nil Illegitimi Carborundum!
Happy birthday Deva!
(And I feel like the world owes every healthcare worker an apology.)
Happy birthdayDeva. Hope T Rex made you a cake while you were at work!!! May your knees never grow creaky!
Happy belated birthday!
Happy belated Birthday, Deva!??
Happy belated birthday, Deva. I hope in 2022 the world appreciates all you do to make it a better place!
Happy birthday a day late! I’m so sorry to hear about the PPE situation. You’re right, this is disgraceful. We are so lucky there are gifted professionals in healthcare who keep doing what they — and you — do. Thank you!
Happy Belated Birthday, Deva, and many more!
Happy belated birthday! That cozy day in the van sounds quite nice.
Happy Belated Birthday! I shouldn’t be surprised, but man you are nice to care and risk so much.
Cheers to you!
Happy belated birthday Deva!
Happy belated birthday! Hope you get some good hikes in.
Had a changeable, blustery walk with the dog club this morning, now settling in for a baking session, lemon bars and rice krispie treats. I’m wearing Widian Gold II. Lillyjo would like it, it’s very perfumey. 🙂
Have a nice vacation Robin!
Doggie walks and baking sounds like a wonderful day to me!
It was a good day!
If you like peanut butter, the Kashi Peanut Butter Crunch is on sale at Whole Foods for $2.99 each plus the Prime discount ($0.30).
Ooh, that sounds yummy!
very windy here, too! 🙂
You and your kitchen smell marvelously delicious today.
Thank you tiffanie! Just taste-tested one of the lemon bars. Yum!
Those lemon bars sound so delicious!
Happy holidays, Robin! Enjoy your vacation.
I generously applied Over The Chocolate Shop this morning; maybe need to respray soon. I just put a banana bread in the oven. Sending a big thank you to whoever mentioned Smitten Kitchen yesterday. I’m trying their banana bread recipe; it looks awesome!
That’s my experience with Over the Chocolate Shop too with the poor longevity.
You smell good, baking twin!
Thank you! I got the 50 ml so I can spray away!
SotD = Oeillet Sauvage
by Anne Flipo, because allo wore it a few days ago. I wore it yesterday as well for the Friday CP.
I’ve taken time to reorg the perfume cupboard for spring. Ostara is on deck, so is La Chasse aux Papillons. It feels good to fall in love with old favorites.
Safe travels to you, Robin, and to everyone, I wish ou all a restful Saturday.
You smell lovely!
thank you! 🙂
Those are both great spring scents. I wanted to like Ostra so much, but it just didn’t work for me ☹️
It didn’t work for me either.
Ostara is a strange one. I enjoy it most wearings, but once in a while I have the urge to wash it off. It’s something in the drydown . . . 😉
I love Oeillet Sauvage! Also Ostara, one of my top loves. I’ve blogged about both, but here’s a link to the Oeillet Sauvage post: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/tag/oeillet-sauvage/. You smell great!
dear Old Herbaceous, thank you for sharing! Oeillet Sauvage is a wonderful carnation. 🙂
I agree — I’d like carnation to make a comeback as a note in fragrances. Also marigold!

1. Otherland Alpine Crystal Candle: It’s been burned twice but there’s still plenty left. Notes listed are Juniper Sprig, Icy Tonic, Lemon Fizz. It’s very strongly scented with enormous throw, and I liken it to a glacial fresh and soapy scent, almost an Irish Spring soap even though it’s been awhile since I’ve smelled it.
I’ll also include a Hermetica Jade888 5ml travel spray and a sample size of Keap Cotton Magnolia candle.
2. Small decants and travel sprays of varying amounts of FM Portrait Of A Lady, MFK A la Rose, Natori, and Smell Bent Modern Love
3. Small decants of varying amounts of Lancome Jasmins Marzipane, Mendittorosa Rituale, UNUM Opus 1144, and Farmacia SS Annunziata Vaniglia del Madagascar
The same person can claim 2 and 3 but I’d like to send 1 one its own because it’ll be heavy to ship and I’ve already got the box situation figured out. Hope these call out to some folks!
Dibs on 2 please. Thanks!?
Dibs on 3 please! Thank you!
Dibs on 1 please. Thank you!
My sotd was Apple Brandy. I think my daughter smelled better than me though. When I got home I could smell something delicious. I asked her what she sprayed and she kept saying she didn’t know. It took me about an hour to figure out it was Angelique Noire!
Remember when I said my car warranty was about to expire? Well sure enough, I now have a oil leak. I couldn’t get an appointment until Friday due to short staff. If everyone crosses their fingers maybe it won’t be too expensive.
Oh and happy vacation Robin!
Thank you, and fingers crossed!
fingers and toes crossed! 🙂
Ugh, car repairs. Good luck with that!
I hate cars. Hope it’s a cheap fix!
???
My fingers are crossed!
Fingers crossed !!!!
Popping in oh-so-quickly to say “Safe Travels” to you Robin! Enjoy your vacay!
SOTD = Rose de Siwa. A beautiful pink rose that has never known sadness or heartbreak.
You smell wonderful!
Thank you cazaubon!
Thank you! So far so good 🙂
Robin, I hope you have a great trip!
It’s Sunday morning, and I’m currently wearing no perfume but after I shower I think I may wear Sunday. (Yep, I love being literal.). Our weather is roller-coastering – it should reach 80 today but be back in the 50s by Tuesday.
I haven’t been posting much but I’ve been reading as often as I can. Just wanted to let all of you know how wonderful you are and how much I appreciate your kind discourse.
Always good to see you sistine!
Happy to see you when you can post sistine.
Thanks sistine, and glad you are well!
Sunday!
Fragonard’s Fragonard edt.From the discovery set.Soapy white floral,nothing earth-shattering,but very Lillyjo-perfumey.I guess I like it?Not a fb on the cards though.
XO’s
I love perfumey but I have to be in the mood for soapy.
Hope you have a pleasant Sunday!

Ha!
OMG!Fashion!!
Love it!????❣️??
So Many Questions! Were the Monkees really that philosophical? Where were their microphones? What was that dark stuff on the back of Peter Tork’s hand (maybe the song lyrics, written in Sharpie)? Why wasn’t Michael Nesmith the bass player, given his unmoving stoicism (since bass players are always the guys in back, barely moving)? And how could Davy Jones have been the bass player, given his manic verve? I feel like I must have missed a lot of nuance to their whole zeitgeist. (Not.) ?
Haha!Fantastic!????✌??
Ha – I loved this. The Monkees (I believe it was a Greatest Hits album) was my very first album long ago. So many memories!
Monkees are underrated.
Agreed!
I’m layering TRNP Saffron with L’Artisan Safran Troublant. They have a few notes in common and play well together. Sunny and cool today, hope you are all enjoying a peaceful Sunday!
Spending the morning in Fox in the Flowerbed, courtesy of a very kind NSTer. I sprayed very lightly because white florals are not usually my thing, and was glad — the opening is VERY white-floral and was almost too much, but it settled relatively quickly to elegantly soapy. I like it, but the sample is probably all I will ever need of it. Also, I just realized that it might have caused the sneezing fit I had an hour or so ago. Hmm.
Fox in the Flowerbed is a great name for a perfume!
It is! That’s at least half of why I wanted to try it. 😉
Soapy = nope-y for me! That lemming is gone!
Quite shaken from the state of affairs in the world, my urge to procrastinate and wrap myself in a bubble of perfume is greater than ever! For me procrastinating is reading this forum and watching my favourite YT channels, reading and cooking. Today I went with Tonka Imperiale on my t-shirt, Rose Barbare on one wrist and Nahema on the other. I was in the mood of cake, and this combo is almost as good.
You smell fabulous. I enjoy both those so much!
It is very hard not to mess about on the computer lately…I read a little bit of news and then I play wordl over & over…
Wearing a tiny spritz of Iunx Talc. It always puts a smile on my face. Happy Sunday!
How was the pizza?
Delish! I am still craving more! ???
I bet this is amazing! Glad it put a smile on your face.
It is so beautiful! I still hope that Iunx makes a return someday.
Forcing myself to try a new perfume today. Testing Fat Electrician right now. It’s fairly simple and similar to Sycomore.
I like them both but Sycomore is probably better!
I’m still going through my stash for samples and minis to send to my niece. Stumbled across a mini of Ange ou Demon le secret that I got at LAX a few years ago in a Givenchy pak. There wasn’t enough to send her so I doused myself with the rest after my shower.
Finally a thunk, albeit a small one! Happy Sunday everyone.
Every thunk counts!Even though I hardly see a difference in my own stash!!
I do NOT want to confess to Donatella this quarter!!??✌?
It does count, at least in my books! Thanks for the support!!
Yeah, I have a few for Donatella too. I’ll be looking forward to the confessions!
A thunk is a thunk is a thunk for sure!
This sounds like Dr Suess ?
I’m afraid of what I might come up to rhyme “for sure” with!
Hello friends, I’m still alive, although for most of the past week or more I was not sure whether I wanted to be. Still in the hospital after a bad fall in which I managed to break (shatter) my femur just above my new knee replacement. Needless to tell it’s been a nightmare, and very discouraging. I am now in a rehab unit in a different hospital with PT and OT every day (Except today). After some nightmarish bad drug reactions I’m finally feeling a tad better. I had no perfume until last night when a friend visited and brought packages from my home including some LuckyScent samples. I tried Zoologist last night and oh wow it was almost a scrubber for me. I kept it on in hopes it would improve over time but it didn’t and also never let up. I don’t know what the note is but there’s something really obnoxious in there. I’ve got a few others to try and will report in tomorrow. I’m here for one more week of rehab and then must figure out what to do or where to go next. No weight or bending on one leg for maybe six weeks. My therapy is to help me learn basic coping strategies and to strengthen my arms and good leg.
Zoologist SEAHORSE that was. I’m still on strong meds (narcotics) so please forgive any mistakes.
?I knew you meant Seahorse because I figured you’d being trying the latest one. I thought Sloth was a real scrubber but months later when I tried it again I decided there might be something I could work with, so to speak. Sending sympathy, thoughts and prayers as you begin healing.
Calypso, I’m so sorry about your fall! Just as your knee rehab was coming along so well. I’m sending you wishes for a speedy recovery.
Sorry to read this, Calypso. I wish you a good recovery. Your therapy sounds like a good approach.
I am so very sorry to read what happened. Sending you healing vibes and best wishes for a smooth and safe recovery with injury-free days and good health to follow. ?
Oh my goodness, Calypso. I’m so sorry. I hope that you are feeling better very, very soon. I can’t imagine the pain.
I am so sorry to read this Calypso. I hope that your recovery continues without any other painful issues. Sending healing vibes!
So sorry to hear this too. I hope the pain is controlled and the therapy goes well. Sending you great big hugs. Please keep posting updates. Stay strong, Calypso.
Oh, I’m so sorry! I hope the therapy helps. What a nightmare.
?? So very sorry to hear this Calypso. Sending you healing vibes as you deal with this latest setback. Hugs.
So sorry Calypso and sending hugs and healing your way.
I’m so sorry. Wish your kitties could visit.
Oh Calypso, I am so sorry. My husband fell 3 wks after his knee replacement and tore his quad muscles requiring another surgery, no weight bearing etc. Just wanted you to know that he came out of it good as new. I hope your pain can be controlled well, wishing you all the best.
How dreadful, I am so sorry. Sending hugs and healing prayers.
I am so sorry that you suffered such an awful accident. I hope you can get back on your feet and back home soon. Wishing you well and a big hug Calypso.
Sending strength and hugs to you Calypso!
?❣️
The best of healing and health wishes to you Calypso!
I am so sorry to read this Calypso! ??? Sending a big hug your way.
Oh Calypso, what a nightmare…I am so sorry.
So sorry for all you’re going through! I hope things start to look up asap.
I retried Seahorse over the weekend and found it ok, nothing that really pulls me to wear it but luckily not a scrubber.
Snowed in on a family visit but weather predicted to clear in time for travel day. In Le Lion and getting lots of woody incense out of it today. I will surely consider adding Procrastination Week to my to do list. Hope everyone is having a peaceful Sunday evening.
Got a chuckle out of “adding Procrastination Week to my to do list”! Thanks for the much needed light moment.
?
Me too! That was sharp MossyBerry ?
Hi everyone!! Been very very busy but reading as much of the comments as I can.
Wearing Montale Intense Cherry on this super hot day in South FL.
Hi there!
In my cherry exploration, I’d definitely like to try Intense Cherry.
Showered and slathered myself in Shalimar body lotion, followed by the Eau de Cologne. All promoted by watching a Persolaise review of Millesime.
For me it should be Stop Procrastinating Week. I’ve been doing a lot of that lately.
You smell wonderful today.
I hear you on the procrastination. Been putting off loads of laundry if they aren’t critical.
Happy Monday, feeling gourmandy in Guerlain Le Plus Beau Jour de Ma Vie.
Happy Monday to you!
Inspired my choice for the scent of the evening!
Cazaubon, you must have smelt/ owned other similar orange blossoms, PdM Safanad and Killian’s Love. What are your thoughts on them, do you find them comparable? I’m trying to resist the urge to buy these two as I already own the Guerlain, but I’m in such an orange blossom phase!
I actually don’t get a lot of orange blossom from the Guerlain, it is mostly sweet almond on me. Kilian is much more orange blossomy. Safanad I’ve only smelled once and not side by side with the others. For orange blossom, I reach for the Kilian, Guimauve de Noel, Sintra, Seville à l’Aube, L’Artisan Fleur d’Oranger, and Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger.
Oh, forgot to mention A Lab on Fire And the World is Yours as well..
Thank you! ?
Writing those down for future scent exploration. I see what you mean about the Guerlain being almondy/musky. I must smell the Guimauve again.
I rearranged some of my perfumes yesterday so am in Guerlain Samsara edt today. The gorgeous red bottle was saying “pick me”!
It is a gorgeous red bottle! Such a pity Guerlain axed it.
Oh isn’t that the truth! Glad I got my bottle when I did!
Snowed all day yesterday but today is sunny. In Sacrebleu today since it’s one of my favorite winter scents.
We are sun twins then 🙂
SOTD!
Aqualis Orion.
Dark incensey-rose with a citrus twist.
Me likey.
This brand is cool.
I’m actually meeting the founder on Thursday,Skins cosmetics is having a meet-and-greet and masterclass with Steyn Grobler, and I am beyond thrilled to attend!
XO’s
The meet and greet sounds fun. Make sure to report back!
Will do!Eek!??❣️
Your perfume meet and greet sounds awesome! Enjoy!
What a fun thing to do! Enjoy!
Happy Monday everyone! I’m wearing Donna Karan Gold edp since I’m sure I haven’t worn it since before the pandemic. I really love the scent and the bottle, I don’t have why I hardly ever wear it.
Possibly related, does anyone know when the next swap meet is? I’m ready to clear some things out.
Oh you smell lovely! I plan on wearing it more this spring.
There is an “upcoming” box…either on the right or at the bottom, depending on what size screen you are on, and it does show the swapmeet as April 23 🙂
Thank you! ?
Day off today. I spent some time doing housework. My sotd is officially No.19 but I am wearing my house sweater that still has Narciso l’absolu on it and it’s overpowered the Chanel. Speaking of Chanel.. I watched a youtuber really bashing their perfumes as ” stinky and old lady” I went through the comments and most of them agreed. There was a bit of TF bashing too. ( this was from a lifestyle channel) it made me laugh, but also irritated. I wish I could live long enough to see young people get old just so I could laugh more?
I agree with your last sentence 100%!! Then, I had to check myself to see if I was one of those young people that I now can’t stand…I did drive annoyingly fast and blast my stereo, so I’m sure I was a partial jack? at least! ? But yeah, some young people seem to take being derogatory very seriously.
What gets me is that it’s perfectly OK to be derogatory towards older generations. No one cares if my feelings get hurt? ( they weren’t)
“The only 5 perfumes you’ll ever need” … “the 5 worst perfumes ever” ?
Youth is arrogant.. and shockingly confident in their strong (and often misinformed) opinions. At some point they’ll realise that absolute truths are rare and your point of view is only one of many… and nobody cares about it as much as you do!
Ha! So true.
Joke’s on the youtuber — you smell great!
Thank you!
And this is why I don’t watch ANY perfume reviews. Don’t need any of that nonsense in my life. I’d much rather read what NSTers and the like would say in writing.
I only trust nst folks for honest opinions of perfume. I watch the videos to look at pretty bottles?
Ah, bottle pr0n videos! ???
Absolutely, me too.
SotD = infusion d’Iris EdT
An old favorite has returned to the front of my perfume cupboard. ?
Lucasai’s mention of Infusion d’Homme reminded me I have that one and several others from the same house. ?
You smell great!
SOTD some unknown amalgam of scents that persisted on my sweatshirt through a wash and dry cycle. Pretty impressive!
Thanks for the kind birthday wishes over the weekend, although I haven’t found anything to be joyous about recently. The last couple of weeks have done what two years of being in the eye of a pandemic could not, and I found myself bawling in the bathroom at work after catching the news when in a patient room. Staffing has been horrendous here, and I had “words” with the charge RN last night about his “I’m here to help” platitudes when what he really needed to do was shut up and actually help. I’m hoping they cancel my contract. This is my third winter at this facility and they were taken over by a huge hospital corporation last summer, and OMG! I cannot believe this is the same place. I won’t be returning, that’s for sure.
So the end result of all that had me crying in the BR because I was so mad at people that are complete @$$%¥#+&!
I need ice cream! ?
I’m sorry that your career kinda sucks BIG time right now. Some days even I wonder “why do I still stay??”.We’ve been having a really turbulent time-for other reasons than yours-as well, and nobody seems to be able to get their groove back at work.I wish the weeks away and pray for Fridays and the weekend.Something’s gotta give.
Fragrant Hugs my fellow nurse. We’re still human.
XO.
Hugs right back! Really, something is going to give and give BIG! I hope you’re able to find happiness and joy in your perfumes and other small things of beauty. I’m going to find a bit of happy in ice cream- the flavor of the day is blackberry cobbler. ?
Ugh, I’m so sorry! I hope you found plenty of ice cream, and I hope you’re free of this place soon.
Deva, I am so sorry. Everything is so overwhelming right now.
I mean honestly how much are we supposed to take?
Gads. So sorry. Ice cream sounds like an excellent idea.
I hope your blackberry cobbler ice cream helped. It’s just overwhelming what so many people are having to deal with. Two years of pandemic and now a war. My life is not in any way difficult but I cry regularly too, just from the excess of emotion. Sending you lots of hugs.
So sorry Deva, that’s all horrid, and now I hope they cancel your contract too.
All I can do is shake my head and send you hugs! Hopefully the facility won’t renew your contract.
SOTD = commando. I broke out in a rash over the weekend where I typically wear perfume, so I am holding off irritating the area even more until my skin calms down.
Yikes! I hope it clears up soon.
Thank you lillyjo! At least it isn’t an itchy mess today.
That happens to me occasionally too, usually on the neck and torso. Hope your skin is better soon.
Thanks cazaubon. I’ve had it happen a couple of times before but it’s still a little upsetting.
I hate when that happens! It makes me avoid whichever perfume I last sprayed, even though I know it probably was an accumulation of things rather than just one. I’ve only had one perfume do that so consistently that I had to give it up (OJ Orris Noir, sadly), but fortunately other instances with other scents have been one-offs … so far. I hope things clear up quickly for you!
Thank you SheriG! Hopefully I won’t have to use a cortisone cream or ointment. Things are looking better today, but not quite right.
Ouch, I get a burny rash sometimes that’s not fun. Hope it clears up soon.
SOTD is Molinard de Molinard, for this month’s “Scent Semantics” blog post. The word this month, chosen by Undina, is “nostalgia.” I have the original Molinard; has anyone tried the newer version that was released in 2017? Thoughts?
I think Aurora has mentioned some Molinard perfumes on occasion.
