Indie perfume house Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has launched three new rose fragrances: Countess Olenska, Halfeti Rose and Rosé.
Roses, the flowers of love, are the most commonly given on Valentine's Day. When pondering the notion of how to give roses to our lovers, I began to consider some new colors, textures, and gender-fluid ways of interpreting rose. From this I created a Victorian / classical interpretation of a yellow rose, a decidedly modern concept of pink rose on water, and a black rose that has both modern and classical facets.
Countess Olenska {a Victorian, Yellow Rose perfume} ~ "A beautiful and otherworldly yellow rose soliflore with bright citrus accents and green rose leaves in the top notes, and warm, fleshy nuances on the drydown. Subtle warming spices and saffron add a gentle glow to the luminous yellow rose heart."
Halfeti Rose {Limited Edition :: a Black Rose perfume} ~ "A deep, red-black rose oud design, rich with resins, incense notes, and luscious pigmented fruits; featuring Turkish aromatics like Turkish rose absolute and Galbanum."
Rosé {a water / rose perfume} ~ "A fresh water (not the typical oceanic – aquatic) and pink rose soliflore with the refreshingly fruity-boozy notes of rosé wine in the opening. Utterly lovely and thoroughly modern."
Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Countess Olenska, Halfeti Rose and Rosé are available in a variety of concentrations, sizes and formats, for more information see the website. A coffret with all three in 5 ml Eau de Parfum rollerball is $75; the 10 ml botanical print Eau de Parfum travel sprays shown above are $52 each.
