Lush is getting ready for Valentine's Day, and among other items there's a new shower gel: I Can Resist Everything But Temptation. The long description ("Whether you love to share showers or go it alone, you'll want to get wild with this irresistible body wash. It starts with the perfect throuple: an infusion of cinnamon, red rose petals and ginseng, ingredients that are known for their aphrodisiac effects, and then kicks it into high gear with cinnamon leaf oil for an extra-spicy good time. So go ahead, lather up, enjoy the moment, and just try to resist this one") is tempting but ruined for me by the short description ("A sweet, sharp, apple-scented candle"). Maybe it's your lemming, maybe not.

I was so excited thinking it was close enough to the long discontinued Philosophy Hot Dots, until I read it smells like “A sweet, sharp, apple-scented candle”. Money saved!
But it is so weird that there’s no mention of apple in the long description! So I’m hoping it’s an error. Ha.
Maybe it’s just a reference to the fact that a lot of apple candles are heavily cinnamon-scented?
The ingredients list does contain ‘organic apple juice’ and ‘apple cider vinegar’ so apple is definitely a large part.
A few years ago I bought their Hot Toddy shower gel. Lots of cinnamon in that one too. Smelled great! Unfortunately it caused an allergic rash. My Derm stated “too much cinnamon” and that it’s very reactive. I’ll pass on this as I see it going down the same path.
Side note: my Dermatologist is a long time family friend. He joked that he loves LUSH and Aveda. Both companies are notorious for allergic reactions…they helped put 2 of his kids through college! ?
Ha, I can believe it!! But they are still 2 of my favorites.
Throuple!?! ? Ok, that’s it. I’m not reading any more marketing copy! ?
I have a friend who’s brother is part of a throuple! I was deeply impressed and admittedly a little curious. . . well, not THAT curious. But when my friend first told me and showed me his brother’s holiday card, I acted totally cool about it but had to look up throuple when I got home! So, now its a thing in shower gel–but of course.
I am just finishing a biography of Emily Dickinson, Lives Like Loaded Guns…much of which is about the relationship between Austin Dickinson, Mabel Todd, and her husband, David Todd. Far more shocking than the Lush description 🙂
And yet (and I suspect you probably agree), how wonderful that we are still surprised, in a good way, by human behavior! Wonders never cease.
Oh yes.
I guess I’m totally behind the times. (Nothing new there!)!
Was new to me too.
That looks like misplaced text, as the descriptions are so totally different. Will try to give it a sniff all the same.
Except temptation = apple. So we’ll see.
Please report back if you happen to sniff it.
