I’m a true believer in the complexity of natural ingredients. I feel that if I do not use them, people will not like my scents. When I smell synthetic molecules—and some are fascinating—I believe that you get an idea that you are smelling something beautiful or magnetic but the pheromones are not being released and time is not being altered. You are missing the complete language between the botanicals and our body.

I tried a dozen or so of the many, many Fueguia 1833 scents — they churned out 50+ in their first three years of operation, and god knows how many they have now — and found the great majority of them to be bad (if not horrendous), so, and this is just my opinion, maybe he should concentrate less on pheromones and more on scents that aren’t dreadful.
Yes, I sound like an old meanie, and I swear I go into every new scent wanting to like it, but they were *so* bad. I was aghast at sample after sample.
They have over 100 (!), he discusses that in the article.
But mostly I thought his reason for preferring naturals, while a bit amorphous, made more sense to me than many…
I’ve only tried La Cautiva and I like it, but not enough to buy. I also thought appreciated his statement about why he prefers naturals and it makes some sense to me. Maybe he needs a different Nose to create his fragrances!
I don’t think he needs anything if he really means what he is saying…these are his artistic statement and he is not interesting in making the line more commercial? It would be like telling a painter or sculptor to hire someone else to create their artwork, right?
As a consumer of course you can like or dislike them, but telling him to make his fragrances more likeable seems besides the point.
But truly the market does decide in the end in the sense that he is mostly selling in his own stores, and I guess he has to pay his rent like everybody else 🙂
