The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 11 March 2021 12 Comments

I am fond of my Marvis Black Forest toothpaste, but it does have fluoride so I don't use it often (I get enough fluoride already). Plus, it's spendy. Here's a budget, fluoride-free alternative: Dr. Sheffield’s Certified Natural Toothpaste in Chocolate. It says "For Kids" right on the label, but I am not so easily deterred. Reviews on Amazon (where you can find two 119g tubes for $12) range from "like chocolate cake batter...amazing" and "like brushing your teeth with chocolate mousse" right straight through to "gross". I am planning to investigate once I finish off a few others.

I recently bought the Hello Charcoal Whitening Toothpaste. It’s just mint-flavored, but I get a huge kick out of having Halloween mouth (black toothpaste foaming in my mouth). Brushing was never so much fun before, but it is a bit messy. Next, I’m going to try some Marvis flavors. You’ve expanded my horizons, Robin!

I really want that Hello Meyer Lemon!

For Marvis, Karakum is my favorite, but I also really like Marvis Licorice. The jasmine and orange blossom toothpastes are both good but not as good — don’t think I will replace either.

Stocked up on Karakum (& ‘Royal’ – lemon, tangerine, rose & nutmeg) when they appeared in TK Maxx here last month for £2 a tube !

Oh nice! I liked Royal too, but I’ve long since used it up and I only replaced the Karakum.

I like the jasmine one, but always roll my eyes a bit over the package’s assertion that it’s gentle-for-the-ladies, or some such…

Yep, I’m going to try to grab that Meyer Lemon from Target.

I’m not a fan of mint flavors (makes me sneeze), so I immediately placed an order for this…thanks for the tip!

My favorite toothpaste flavor ever was Tom’s of Maine lemon-lime, but sadly that’s been discontinued. I also enjoyed the Japanese toothpaste (Breath Palette) that came in fun flavors like kiwi and rose, but I haven’t seen that for sale in a long time.

I never got to try the Tom’s, but you might also consider the Hello Meyer Lemon —

Oh, just realized it is out of stock at Target and Ulta.

But looks like it will ship soon.

Oh I loved Breath Palette! My friend would bring it back for me, sadly she’s no longer in Japan. My last prezzie from her was 2 different sample boxes, 16 different flavors in all. I adored Melon and also Green Tea. Didn’t care for Cola.
