It's Almost-Friday and the eighth night of Hanukkah. Also Wright Brothers Day and Maple Syrup Day, plus a few birthdays: Ford Madox Ford, Penelope Fitzgerald, Art Neville. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm going tropical to counteract the several inches of layered snow and ice outside, in Ormonde Jayne Frangipani.
Reminder: on 12/18 we're doing Best of 2020...wear one of your favorite fragrance releases of 2020.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Coco Mademoiselle on a very snowy day! ❄❄
Happy Thursday! ☃️
You smell lovely! *leans in to sniff*
Thank you! ?
house twins!
You smell great
Thank you! You also smell wonderful!
Happy Thursday to you and you smell lovely.
I must admit I would love a snowy day (but only one and accompanied by a day off from work).
I can pass you all my snowy days. It looks beautiful outside, especially because the sun is out and it looks very bright. However, I still prefer summer days!
For the longest while, I thought I hated CM. Probably because for the longest time, everyone wore it. Now I love it. You smell fab!
Thank you! I am not a fan of Coco Mademoiselle. However, the two dabs from a sample are working for me today.
And everyone who wore CM oversprayed by a factor of 10!
Two dabs from a sample sounds just right.
Your SOTD is something I changed my mind about. Didn’t care for it when it first came out, but now I rather like it. I guess I had to grow into liking it.
One spritz of Lush Fresh As for the CP (the pine in it smells quite Christmassy).
I am about to head out to pick up samples of some 2020 releases (Ocean Leather, Sintra and 21 Conduit St). I plan to start testing them today and report tomorrow.
At the end of day what is your verdict on the Philtre
I did not wear it today, and my yesterday comment was in the evening, so I do not have much to add. A nice transitional Shalimar (late winter, early spring) – warm and slightly fresh at the same time.
chanel le lion, day 5
yes!
You smell great Apsara!
My bottle arrived as well but Santa got a hold of it and will not release it until Christmas (even though I told him I may fail Friday’s CP without it).
I am the Santa and do as I wish!
? good for you!
Maybe you can do like the Peleton girl did but a week earlier.
I’ve always wondered if she ever took a shower before going back to bed ??♀️
You smell perfect. ??
thank you!
its a beauty for sure
Scent twins today! Fabulous!
CK Obsession Sheer for a day of meetings and as much exercise in-between as I can get in!
You smell so good, and you go girl with in-between exercise!
In bumping up my core work, instead of doing a complete workout in one shot, I’ve been breaking it up and doing one set of 20 each of plank, Russian twist, toe taps and crunches, that way, instead of doing three sets of 20, I’m doing eight sets of 20 and it’s more manageable.
That sounds like quite a work out!!! Do you hold the plank for 20 seconds?
I hold the plank for 40 seconds, in addition, I do a leg lift/pulse, 20 seconds each side.
From some of the research I’ve done, lower back pain may be a result of posterior chain weakness (back side of the body), so I’m doing core work and strengthening hamstrings, glutes and middle/upper back and stretching those same muscles so they are balanced.
Holy cow.
Impressive!
Yes, I feel like I’ve actually done more and gotten more fit by doing slightly smaller amounts more often. My best days are a half hour of yoga in the morning, a 3 – 4 mile walk at noon and 20 minutes of core or weights or HIIT in the afternoon.
My daily focus is more on fitness and how can I get my work done (and done well) around it? Ha – doesn’t always happen but I try!
This sounds like a great workout plan. I’m only back up to 2-2.25 miles for my walk, but could do the other things. Have been trying to start EVERY day with yoga.
I just completed a six mile walk. I’m ready for a nap!
True! If I look at 1/2 of exercise, it’s intimidating to me. If I break it up in small chunks, it’s much easier to deal with.
Oops, I meant half-hour…
Hi all, my SOTD is Le Labo Rose 31 perfume oil. I always forget I have this one. 🙂
It’s still raining so I’ll postpone my walk, for now but perhaps when it slows down at noon, I’ll head out.
Miles are looking good! Six miles on Tuesday, and four yesterday. I hope I can keep it up!
you are my hero!
All that walking has to be good for you head as well as your body
Thanks! Logged in six miles for today. 😀 And it’s great for the peace of mind.
?
Love it! (The scent and the walking!)
House twin! I wish I was your walk twin, but alas, it didn’t work out today.
Wow! Your commitment to walking is awesome. ???
Snowy day!
Tea is Paris by Harney & Sons
SOTD Gabrielle Essense
Huge oversized gray soft sweater and leggings. Chanel foundation & mascara and Louboutin gloss for a zoom charity meeting.
How are those Louboutin lip products? Almost pulled the trigger on a By Killian lipstick when there was a Saks discount, but time got away from me (was intrigued by the scent description as orange blossom-marshmallow).
I also ended up not using my Saks $$s off coupon.
Robin-
For some reason I am not getting the emails to the comments. I checked my spam folder also.
Yes…just saw your email. Will post a question below to see if anyone else is having a problem. It is possible it’s being held as spam by your email provider before it even gets distributed.
I love Chanel Mascara, holy cow that stuff is amazing.
I’m wearing Vol de Nuit edt from a decant. I have been rereading Angela’s drugstore review series, and she mentioned Vol de Nuit in one of them, which necessitated a rummage through several boxes before I found my decant. I could have sworn I had a full bottle, but I couldn’t find it. Another to add to my FB list.
You smell sooooooooo awesome!!
Vol de Nuit is on my long list, too. Does anyone know if the extrait still comes in the beautiful Art Deco bottle? I heard rumors they were going to put it in a plain bottle. . .
I have it in the little clear cube tester bottle, but have seen it online in the art deco propeller bottle and in a very beautiful amphora-type bottle. No idea what the current formula is bottled in.
I got mine in the Art Deco bottle last year.
I heard it was going to be put in the Mitsouko style bottle.
I love that all of you are so excited about a beautiful snow! My Deep Southern self is pretty happy to have rain that gets G-O-N-E fast! 🙂 Stay warm and cozy up there!
Doing the soft floral musky thing in Narciso Rodriguez Fleur Musc. Any musk that Calice Becker creates is probably one that I will love!
I wish wish wish we had snow! Only rain. (Seattle) Although, we often a little snow at some point.
To be fair, Seattle in snow is beautiful but very dangerous, due to all the hills and people who only drive in snow once every 5 or 10 years. 😀
Yes, that’s true. I just miss it from my years in Colorado. How about if I wish for an overnight dusting that doesn’t freeze or cause driving problems?
That’s my wish every year.
JHaG Musc Invisible for the cp. Wore this one yesterday too, I don’t think my travel spray is going to last long.
Today is my Saturday! Yay! But…I have to spend today and tomorrow writing my last paper of the semester.☹️ Boo! My teacher finally graded the paper I did thanksgiving weekend, yesterday. For a class that only lasts 6 weeks, it felt like an awfully long time to wait.
Need to finish shopping for my secret Santa too. I saw pictures of all the snow out east. Holy cow!! Stay safe and warm everyone!
It’s so snowy
Kids are starting their winter/holiday break early
I hear your boo! It would be nice to get feedback on the first paper before the second one is due, so you can adjust things if needed.
Good luck with your paper! I chose musk (musc?) today as well.
Well, “Phooey” on having to wait so long to hear about your previous paper. I get that things are not at all normal, but that seems excessive to me.
Good luck with the current paper! ???
SotD for a gloomy, post-light-now-it’s-gone-snow day is Shalimar Souffle Intense. It was a real blind buy success. I might complain a little during the tonka solo moments, but overall it gives me the warm and long-last scent bubble I always want in my fragrances! The bottle is very attractive, too. On staycation and having lunch with friend, we hope….might have to do carry out, but hoping the dining room at a certain locally-owned restaurant will be open and not crowded/at capacity. Happy Friday, everyone. You all smell wonderful.
We did not get as much snow as expected but we still have plenty!
Enjoy your staycation and good luck getting a table today, MossyBerry.
I’ve been so tempted by Shalimar Souffle Intense because of the pretty bottle! Hope you are having a nice staycation!
Maple Syrup Day? That decides it. After my post-workout shower will put on Like This. Will help tremendously on this gray, dreary, cold December day.
Yes for maple syrup day and Like This!
was thinking post workout to put on pancakes and eat.
I’m planning to have pancakes for supper. With maple syrup of course.
CP compliant again (I think) in Maison Lancome Santal Kardamon. Nice and cozy!
My mother lives outside of DC, so every year, we go see the Christmas lights at the DC Mormon temple. They’re wonderful! Christmas lights make me very happy! But this year, I am not traveling, so I was lamenting to the fiance that I was very sad that I would be missing the lights. So last night, he said, “I have a surprise for you!” and we got in the car and drove up to a town a bit north of us. It turns out there’s a street that is famous for its decorations 🙂 We walked up and down the street marveling at the wonderful lights (and staying respectfully far away from all the other spectators, especially the %@#*! ones without masks). It was a wonderful evening, not just because I got to see great Christmas lights after all, but also because the fiance thought to look it up and take me there 🙂 So to all of you who ask, How can you stay with someone who dislikes perfume so much?? This is how 🙂
That’s wonderful! And my DH is not a fan of perfume either, although he puts up with me wearing it subtly. I was so upset by a phone call the other day and he could see me getting more and more frazzled and just quietly came over to hold me. That’s why we’ve been married for 35 years!
I am sorry you were upset by a phone call, but that is so sweet <3 <3 (and congrats on 35 years of marriage! wow!)
That is a lovely story. Clearly you two are doing something right.
Wowee! 35 years! Congratulations!
Twinning in Santal Kardamon!
That’s great that your partner makes up for the lack of perfume love!
Mr. Teebear is the same and will never even say he dislikes a particular frag – but I side-eye his reactions and trade away anything that I suspect really bothers him (or put it on only right before fleeing the house!)
Ahahahaha. That is very thoughtful of you! Back when I would leave the house for work, I would make sure to wear scents he disliked on weekdays and stick to ones he liked for weekends. Now I have to content myself with very light applications of scents, and my only comfort is that my perfume can’t travel the couple hundred feet separating our desks 🙂
And hey twin, you smell lovely!
Aww, how sweet!
🙂
What a perfect surprise!
It really was 🙂
On another note, Robin, I haven’t been getting emails for replies to my comments, even though I am subscribed. This also happened a few days ago.
Ah, so you are person #2, let’s see if anyone is getting them and then I will start looking into it.
Just FYI, I’m getting notifications again!
OK that is weird.
I have been getting notifications without issue. Possibly some are missing but I get emails just about every day. Mine is a gmail account.
What a nice idea of him.
Wasn’t it? I’ll have to tell him about all the NST love he’s getting for this sweet gesture 🙂
Thanks for making me cry, Koyel!
?to the fiance.
Awwww <3 I will convey the thumbs-up to him!
What a fabulous surprise. Your fiancé is so thoughtful!
It was! He certainly can be 🙂
What a sweet gesture re: Christmas lights! Don’t take those things for granted.
Oh, he would never let me 😀
I’m another fan of your fiance’s thoughtfulness!
Today is the day I take Jake to the specialist. Will probably be leaving in a half an hour. Wearing Happy today. Need something undemanding and more joyous today.
Dawn, I hope the visit brings a good way forward for you and Jake. You’re a good dog mama. ?
I hope it went well!
Fingers crossed for Jake!
Best wishes for Jake!
Hope that Jake’s appointment went well today!
Hope all went well. Keep Team Jake posted, when you feel up to it. He has a lot of love here.?
Akkad, by Lubin
From the discovery set.
Yesterday i tried Desert rosewood by Goldfield&Banks
They are not worlds apart
Both scents mention the notes: mandarin, cardamom, vanilla and patchouli
The card for Desert rosewood also says: desert rosewood (duh) and benzoin
Akkad mentions: elemi, incense, styrax, amber, labdanum
Both pretty snuggly and perfect for winter days.
I think I prefer the Lubin.
Did you get the sample set from Aedes? That’s a house I’m super curious about! I’ve sampled Korrigan but nothing else so far.
No, its a discovery/sample set from Jovoy.
With fragrances for winter.
https://www.jovoyparis.com/en/jovoy-box/6088-winter-staff-pick.html#
I haven’t smelled Akkad in years but I loved it when I did! You smell great.
Definitely off CP in MCMC Noble. No snow here…but also no rain, at least for this hour.
Getting a haircut today — long overdue. The quiet is finally settling in at work, so I have some time! DEEP breath.
My husband did my hair yesterday — he did not do a good job the first time, but this time is even funnier.
So enjoy your haircut, I hope you are going to a professional!
I am in dire need of a haircut but my husband hacked a hole in one side last time so I’ll tough it out.
Mine is 2 months overdue but I will tough it out until end of Jan / beginning of Feb.
Oh no, Robin! Too funny! I would never trust my spouse anywhere near my hair — you and Cazaubon are braver than I am. 😀
Yay for haircut appointments! Hope that yours went well.
It did! Good to have it more manageable again.
I’m wearing a spritzes of PDR Bois de Paradis from my precious decant from Undina. This is definitely a favorite.
The sunshine on snow is pretty!
Our sun did not last, but yes, it was pretty this morning!
Rose 31 for me again. Because I have many small bottles of this scent’s lotion from a recent hotel stay and because it is such a wonderful moisturizer (and I desperately need moisture!) it just makes sense to use the perfume as well.
Hope to get out in a bit to experience NYC’s first snowfall plus a beautiful sunny day.
P.S. I really enjoyed that 360-degree tour of Jane Austin’s home yesterday. Unexpected fun for a Wed.!
So glad! I only finished the downstairs so need to go back and see the upstairs.
Off for my yoga class, wearing Café Cabanel!
Good for you cazaubon!
It was a killer class, I need a lie down.
Is everyone receiving emails as expected when you sign up for comment notifications?
I am.
I’m just commenting to make sure I click on the subscribe as maybe i haven’t…
Happy Maple Syrup Day! Maybe we’ll have pancakes for dinner. Would blintzes from the freezer, thawed and drug through maple syrup be easier? Yes, I think that’s the plan.
I’m in Halfeti today, from a wonderful NST swapper. It was a little too spicy at first, but ten minutes in it is quite nice.
It is clear and cold today with very little wind. Will be trying to take the Wild One on a couple of walks a day, since she’s been very talky the last few days. I’m thinking of you folks up north, dealing with the snow and the elements. Stay safe, y’all!
I love Halfeti! I’ve been thinking of buying it for years. I got a couple samples from a very nice SA a few years ago and drained both of them pretty quickly 🙂
I can see this being right up your alley! Love your story about the Christmas lights. You have a keeper. ❤️
I’m so sorry, Robin!
Hey, no big deal!
Yup!
In Chris Rusak Dub, a lovely little floral, patchouli and sandalwood concoction that is very light and radiant. A CP win because it was released in 2020.
Points for you!
Woo hoo. This is my only 50mLs and the rest are 30.
Day two of samples. Trying MEM. I much prefer Caron Pour un Homme.
I have not tried MEM but it is hard to beat the Caron.
Wearing Areej Le Dore Agar de Noir which was one of my favorite releases of the year, enough so that I bought a full bottle. Heavy scent that’s good for a snow day. Also taking advantage of the snow day to make triple chocolate cookies
I’ve love a couple of Areej le Dores. I should check up on this brand. Congratulations on your Agar de Noir!
Doused myself in Bottega Veneta and smelling expensive. Tomorrow I have to get up at 5 to start work at 6.15am. Hate getting up early, but luckily it’s my last workday before Christmas
Expensive and lovely!
You smell great!
Hi! Did you get your Covid results back? In my husband’s practice especially, almost everyone (except him and one other male colleague, who is also NOT AT ALL sociable) have tested positive at one point or another. Thankfully nobody got seriously ill, even the “bigger” ones.
I tested three of our coworkers, thankfully nobody was positive
Great news!
Oh no, how scary! Glad your husband didn’t get it.
You smell amazing!
Wore Serge Lutens Cuir Mauresque to bed last night, which led me to re-read Angela’s review of it here on NST. Someone commented in that thread that it would be difficult to layer Lutens fragrances because of their complexity, which reminded me that one of my favorite layering combos is CM with Rose Anonyme, so that’s my SOTD. Surprisingly (or maybe not), it only takes the barest spritzing of Rose Anonyme to rose-y up the spicy suede-leather of CM, and it’s a very nice combination indeed.
That sounds really nice SheriG!
What a beautiful Menorah!
Today I am wearing 19-69 La Habana. OH THIS IS THE REAL HAVANA.
Wow ALITTLE like Habanita – lovely smokey incense but light.
I am mad for vintage Habanita, but also any form of it……
This dabber won’t last 2 days.
sweet amber, tobacco musk it has it all.
Another Habanita fan here. Despite the vetiver. 😉
In Idylle EDP most of the day for the reason that I hadn’t worn it in this ages, but for this evening I selected Pacoma Swann, an eighties scent.
I liked Idylle, shame it didn’t seem to take. Never heard of Pacoma Swan!
Glad you like it too, I think you’re right it is not very popular but at least they still make it. The Pacoma is very old school aldehydic.
Only three more days work until the Christmas break. I try not to do a countdown for too long, but now that we’re nearly there, I’m counting the minutes 🙂
I’m about as far from the CP as possible, I’m going with L’Heure Bleue. I’m wearing a dress in dark grey, navy and cream, and that seems the right perfume.
Hope the time flies by Gaynor!
Your outfit sounds lovely, and perfect for your scent match.
CP compliant in Aftelier Violet Ambrosia, the only 2020 release I own. There is definitely a FB of this in my future, although it will have to wait until January.
Something to look forward to. Have you decided about Wild Roses?
I’ll probably get a perfume pomander of Wild Roses and a FB of Violet Ambrosia. I don’t really care about the pomander balls, but 6 mL is a nice size for when you want more than just a sample but not necessarily a FB.
Lancôme Santal Kardamon today and my oversized cream cashmere sweater for full snuggly comfort. Last day or two of truly hideous temperatures up here, and we’ll go back to near zero.
Finished my second ongoing-ed class yesterday and am excited for a short academic break over the holidays!
You smell comfortingly fantastic. Enjoy your break!
Wrappings! First time I have ever succumbed to one of Robin’s daily lemmings. My parcel was delayed from yesterday to today, and it happened to arrive just as I was completing a writing task that I had been avoiding for weeks. So instead of saving it for later, I ripped open the box (and then scrubbed my hands thoroughly) and applied. It smells like the interior of an old church (minus the mildew) — candle wax and lemony furniture polish and a hint of incense and probably some dust. Or maybe it’s just that at some point in my life I was in a church with someone who wore this?
Anyway, am going to attempt a walk (we have 6” of new snow, more than forecast but far less than just about anyplace else that got this storm) and then, post-shower, will try the body lotion and another spritz of the fragrance.
I did the same thing!! Wrappings gift set delivered my holidays a bit early.
Ah! Scent triplets then!
Quadruplets!
Another gray, drizzly day here in the PNW. SOTD is from my sample Sous le Manteau Cuir d’Orient which I am really enjoying.
Currently working on preparing an audition tape for an opera orchestra. This is for more for the purpose of having something to work towards rather than any expectation of getting the job. Today I’m listening to recordings for reference and noting time stamps for the excerpts. Much more time consuming for opera excerpts than symphonic works!
Which instrument do you play?
I play French horn. Trying desperately to keep my face in shape while orchestras are not active!
Yay for French horn players! (Little Ockeghem plays French horn 🙂 .)
Yay French horn! I think we get the best repertoire out of all the brass instruments. I assume from your username that you are a musical family!
You definitely do! My spouse trained as a trombonist and ran screaming into music history after undergrad, when he realized he’d be playing the same couple of pieces and the same handful of excerpts for the rest of his life. 🙂
I used to play the clarinet, so I understand what you mean about keeping your face in shape. 🙂
As the old saying goes, “If I take one day off practicing I know. If I take two days off practicing my colleagues know. If I take three days off practicing EVERYONE knows.”
So unfortunately true!
Oh how fun! Even though you aren’t expecting to get it, I wish you luck and a good time 🙂
Thank you!
How exciting! Sometimes, the most unexpected unexpected things happen when you least expect it.
SOTD: Nirvana Black. Wore a couple of violets last week and this was my favourite with John Galliano.
First day back at work done and dusted. I now work a long stretch until the end of January. Have decided to focus on the positive things, because otherwise this year will wreck me. So here goes: we finally got our defaulting tenants out of a rental property. For the record, they stopped paying rent in January 2020 and because of lockdown, it took until end of November to get them evicted. Spent four days of my holidays getting the property cleaned and spruced up for new tenants.
We managed to squeeze in a couple of days at the beach, booked by the other half. Who even arranged a housesitter for the dogs.
My husband phoned me this afternoon to tell me that he bought me a nice restaurant dinner (with chocolate cake) and that it was in the fridge for when I got home. This is a man who eats to live and lives to exercise.
We’re now sitting in the kitchen listening to 80s music. Started off with Cliff Richard (Some People), via Spandau Ballet (Princess Diana’s favourite band according to the hubs) and ABBA (Chiquitita).
Hang in there, folks.
These are all great positives!
You reminded me of going to the roller rink and skating to this song
https://youtu.be/m8FCZ5x8Gpg
Good times ?
Oh the roller skating rink! How I wish those were still a regular thing.
80s music always puts me in a good mood. I never thought that it could be because of all the good times associated with it. Just thought that those musicians were geniuses with creating catchy, upbeat tunes…
That’s a great list of positives. I look forward to the day when I can get to a beach.
Love the bit about a nice restaurant dinner in your fridge!
Your husband sounds like a gem. 🙂 Enjoy your lovely supper!
My husband is possibly the world’s most unromantic man. And supremely unsentimental. So a gesture like this is very much appreciated as it happens about once every ten years! I think he knows I’m hanging on by the smallest thread.
Your husband sounds very thoughtful and that’s a great list of positives!
SOTD = Gallivant Bukhara
Whoa! I described it as a fruity rooty iris and it dried down to something creamy spicy woody, very similar to sandalwood. Very nice indeed!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CI6HpTPB4hi/?igshid=1wtuts3awkmbk
I was going to wear this tomorrow but since I also just got something else that is super nice and also bottle porn, that will be my CP fulfillment.
Later … back to work and also moving my car so my space can be plowed!
Looking forward to the bottle porn tomorrow! I’m trying to guess, but you’re way more up to speed on the new releases than I am.
You’ll find out soon enough!
Did you get dumped on, or were the Snow Gods merciful?
We got dumped on but with the way the wind blew, my car had some accumulation on the windshield and a tiny bit on the passenger side. I had to force myself out of the house because the snow was piled up against my front outer door. I think we got at least 8 inches, likely more.
8 inches is definitely a wallop in my book.
That’s alot all at once. I’m glad you didn’t have to commute!
Oh boy, bottle porn. 🙂
Can’t wait to feature it ?
Wearing a new-to-me in 2020 Wrappings!! And I finished wrapping gifts last night while the snow fell! Lots of holiday spirit with a fire and Christmas carols going….now I am ready to celebrate.
Hello scent twin!
Wrappings, snow, fire, Christmas carols, gifts — you embody the holiday spirit!
Well I spent most of last night going through the list of perfumes that were released in 2020. I think there were over 1300. I’m very pleased to report that I tried 3. 🙂
What was slightly disconcerting was the fact that I didn’t even know most of the perfume houses. I did pick up that Le Galion introduced two new fragrances, Tulipe and Tilleul.
I’m wearing another Galion today, the wonderfully decadent L’Âme Perdue, which was the last perfume I actually bought in a shop this year. Would I have remembered that day in Brussels so vividly had Covid not happened, I doubt it. As it is, I don’t think I will ever forget it.
Glad I could help out. ;-). I don’t know most of the new niche houses either, I stopped trying a couple of years ago. Which 3 did you try?
Angelys Pear, the Artisan vanilla and Mon Guerlain Rose something. I loathed the last one.
I can only assume that there would have been more w/o the pandemic; 1300 is not that high compared to a few years ago.
Possibly, but I was surprised by the fact that I only recognised so few of them. Plus my mind was elsewhere.
🙂
Maple Syrup Day! I am a lover of all things maple, and have a half-gallon of the syrup in the refrigerator at all times. It lasts forever. I like the “B” grade with the stronger flavor.
Today I’ve been trying to keep the kitten occupied so he doesn’t bother Bertie Wooster, who is clearly fed up with being pounced upon, having his tail attacked, and sharing his food bowl, but is too nice a cat to be mean to a kitten aside from a few warning growls. I’m wearing 24, Faubourg because I dreamt about it last night.
I like the Grade B maple syrup better, too. I wonder why it is so hard to find?
I love the darker syrup too, I buy it straight from the producer in Québec in 1 litre bottles.
I get mine from Hidden Springs Maple in Vermont.
I love that your cat is named Bertie Wooster. Is the kitten’s name Jeeves, by any chance?
I’m trying to remember if I bought any perfumes launched in 2020. I don’t think so, apart from samples. I have really enjoyed various Dawn Spencer Hurwitz samples, especially the Heirloom Elixir Limited Edition Muresque.
Hmm, DSH is offering a Complete Collection Gift Set of all the 2020 Heirloom Elixir Limited Editions for basically the average price of one luxury perfume.
https://www.dshperfumes.com/shop/heirloom-elixir-limited-editions-the-2020-complete-collection-gift-set/
I may have to treat myself. I’m sure no one would object, right? ?
No objections here
I needed no further encouragement, thanks!
I think you should definitely treat yourself!
If not 2020, when?
That is a lovely set! Treat away!
How gorgeous; let us know if you get it!
If you do get that set, please let us know what your favorite is!
Will do, thanks!
And 20% off as you probably already know.
Thanks!
Thanks, everyone! I did buy it and will report back in the coming weeks.
Exciting news!
Yes, get it! I did. They’re lovely. And it’s important to support the independent perfumers, if you need an excuse!
Guerlain Mitsouko EDP — this is smelling particularly beautiful today 🙂
I like it when something I wear all the time smells particularly good, and it does happen!
Chanel Allure EdP for my sandwich making gig. I have to do meat and cheese today, because I discovered that PB&J aggravates my thumb issues. The holding and twisting of big jars isn’t helpful.
I bought snow boots two years ago and today is really the first time to need them. Looking forward to the walk, but I imagine that enjoyment will wear off after a few blocks… ???
I didn’t hit “Post” so this is old. I did end up catching a bus for a few blocks because it was still windy and snowing. The walk home was pleasant, though.
I’m glad you had a nice walk home!
I did except for the usual clambering over plowed mounds at intersections and sinking into slush…. Snow boots survived!
LizzieB, may I ask if you got the steroid injection for your thumb and if you have seen any improvement?
I have been dealing with a trigger thumb for a couple of months already and I have been wearing a splint that has helped me a lot at sleeping time. I also need to get an steroid injection, but I have been postponing that appointment for a while already.
I did get a shot. I also waited quite a while. Mine showed up sometime in October, I think…maybe even September. I wore a hand and thumb brace at night and a compression sleeve a lot. They helped it feel better while in, but didn’t improve it.
It was sore for a few days after the shot, then I think the movement with the big jars aggravated it, so I was almost going to call the doctor and ask how long until I could get a second shot. But…I stopped wearing the brace and sleeve (they seemed unhelpful) and just was careful over the weekend. That really helped. I think the shot helped immensely.- it just took a bit longer to help than I expected. I may need a second at some point, but it really is vastly improved a week later. Each day has felt a lot better. Probably would have helped even more if I’d been “quieter” after the shot to let the steroids work faster. And I’ve been able to do more stretching.
I’m wearing Le Labo’s musc 25 today. I love it every time I wear it, and every time I spritz from my wee 15 ml bottle I think “Why didn’t I buy the bigger bottle?”. And then I remember the cost of the bigger bottle. Oof.
One more school day until the winter break. I am sooooo ready for it.
Wow, have fun after work tomorrow! I have zero impression of Musc 25…will have to make it a point to sample.
I feel like crap today.. I went to work for an hour this morning and came back home. I’ve been sleeping on and off all day.
I sprayed on a little bit of Amour de Cocoa, just so I could report a Sotd, lol.
I feel bad, I haven’t put up the Christmas tree yet. My daughter doesn’t care, as she is all about the presents. My son though, is all about tradition. I’m shooting for tomorrow night.
Aw, sorry to hear that you are feeling under the weather today. (Yep, I went there.)
Lol, thanks Jalapeno!
Poor you!! I hope you feel better tomorrow.
Thank you! Me too.
Crap about feeling crappy. Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you! I think all the sleep today helped.
Oh good!
Sleep is the best medicine I think.
Real maple syrup is delicious! Nothing else can compare to it, especially on homemade French toast made with challah bread.
Got more snow than I expected from yesterday’s Nor’Easter. It won’t be going anywhere for a while. ⛄❄❄
SOTD = Wrappings EdP. Perfect for today.
How much did you get?
Between 5 and 5.5 inches. It depends on which website I check. ?
Yuk. I’m nervous because here we are in a snow deficit. Average is about 72 inches. That means it will all come at once after the new year. I’d rather have it doled out in small doses.
To me, 5 inches isn’t all that bad. So I’m going to hope that you get storms like that instead of the alternative.
Big high five on the maple syrup with challah french toast!
???
I keep passing by the challah bread at WholeFoods and going nah. You may just have inspired me to just go ahead and purchase a loaf. I have a humongo container of organic amber maple syrup that I want to use up – I hope it doesn’t expire for a while.. to lazy to see if there’s a date on the bottle.
If you keep it in the fridge, it will last a long while. But you probably already know that. ?
Definitely keep your maple syrup in the fridge!
Oooh challah french toast. Ive got some gorgeous ciabatta going stale already this week, and am contemplating Saturday French toast. It’s not as nice as challah… but a good overnight custard soak with some Cointreau in the batter should help.
You smell wonderful!
I’m in Kedu today. Feeling very lovely, I went to the grocery store and even though I was wearing a mask I could smell my kedu on me, delicate but with great lasting power. I also ordered myself a sample of Swan Princess. Can’t wait to try it out!! I am just torturing myself because I already want bottles of Winter Palace and Russian Tea. If I love Swan Princess there will be more trouble 🙂
We had a beautiful day, clear and cold but sunny. I went for a nice walk this afternoon. Since I’m ordering most gifts for online delivery, I have little to wrap. Just a few things for Mom and one friend. The kitties get treats in their stocking. Today I sprayed Nuit de Noel lavishly. I smell truly delicious. Only edt, but potent. I get it out every year at this time. My bottle is probably 12-15 years old. Saw my hand surgeon yesterday and he said things look good. I’m on antibiotics that give me a nasty taste and queasy stomach. No appetite. Ugh. Hope this improves.
How much longer do you need to take the antibiotics?
Three more days (after today).
SOTD: Chanel Le Lion followed by Velvet & Sweet Pea’s Luminous Lemurs, for double CP points. These are both glorious.
Good News of the Day: My Mom gets her first vaccine shot Monday. She’s a 65 yo nurse taking care of COVID. Very relieved she will soon be better protected.
And in more good news, tomorrow is (fingers crossed) last work day before Christmas. I may put in a few hours Saturday if I don’t get my plate clean tomorrow. It will be great to have a week off.
Oh, that is GREAT news about your mom! You must have been so worried about her. Hugs and kudos to her for being a frontline healthcare worker.
Yes, very relieved. She’ll retire next year and it would be terrible if she got sick. Of course, terrible if anyone gets sick!
No points for me today, I can’t even think of what I would choose as my own “Best of 2020”; the closest I could get would be the set of Heirloom Elixirs from DSH Perfumes, but it’s hard to pick one over the others. Maybe “Snowflakes of Venice”? But today I’m wearing one of the Zara Emotions fragrances created by Jo Malone, Ebony Wood, and I’m enjoying it very much. The collection was launched in 2019, though!
Oops! You’ve posted your Friday update on Thursdays thread. I did that recently too.
