Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! Welcome to August, aka National Sandwich Month, and welcome to this weekend's open thread poll.
Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the perfume you're thinking you'll buy for next season (whether that's fall or spring for you), whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…
Note: you can find the round Pasu Bunny rugs in various colors at various places, including some for €195 each at Muskhane.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit! Getting ready to celebrate with a grilled cheese sandwich. Wearing Fêtes Persanes and enjoying some cool breezes.
Nom, grilled cheese sandwiches! Do you go for classic (white bread, American/cheddar) or more artisinal (rustic wheat with gruyere, etc)?
I do love gruyère and rustic bread, but all I had today was white aged cheddar, jarslberg and white bread.
Sounds delicious! Thank you for letting me know, so I can vicariously enjoy your sandwich with you. 😀 My fave is my homemade whole wheat bread, thick cut, with sharp cheddar cheese and a slice of tomato.
sounds so good, Marjorie Rose!
I am forbidden from cheese until my cholesterol comes down.
Apsara, sadly I’m quite lactose intolerant. Maybe I could do half a sandwich, if it’s not TOO too cheesy.
Your grilled cheese sounds yummy!
Mmm love cheese in most any form.
I adore grilled cheese! Favorite combination is American, Gruyere, and Havarti, with parmesan-coated crust…. No cholesterol there. Nope.
The grilled-cheese scene from Chef inspired a new-found love of all things cheezy/buttery/pan-fried.
Parmesan-crusted sounds amazing!
I forgot to mention, I apply mayonnaise or butter to the outer crust so the bread browns properly and the parmesan sticks.
That, and well, more butter is better.
I’ve never tried the mayo thing, but I’ve heard it before. Bet it’s delicious!
You just inspired me to make a grilled cheese for my hubby. I mistakenly bought pepper havarti instead of plain, and was needing a way to use it up, so thank you, ST! ??
My next door neighbors are from Denmark. I bring home Havarti in every form when I shop for them.
That’s so nice of you to help them out!
thanks nl,
you and I have been in each other moccasins with parents these past few years. The husband has Parkinson’s. He is not doing well. The wife has four sisters in Denmark still all in their 80s and they have arranged their travels so one sister is always here.
Of course travel bans are preventing that now, so when she needs a sister the most, no one is here.
It breaks my heart and makes me grateful again my mother and dad are not here for this.
You’re welcome! 😀
Just got back from quick errands, and my husband is just sitting down to grilled cheese himself. With macaroni salad. Straight up white bread and American cheese. ?
You smell wonderful, Fêtes Persanes is lovely.
Your life choices are all great.
When I was little my mom called them toasted cheese and they were made with white bread and Velveeta.
Celebrating some cooler weather with Hiram Green Hyde. Contemplating a purchase of Akro Smoke or Rook by Rook for fall. Sense of smell is a little compromised in that I tested positive for Covid; I’m on the mend and feel mostly fine.
If I understand the mechanism correctly (if science understands the mechanism correctly!), your sense of smell is expected to return over time. I hope yours returns quickly! I’m sorry you have to deal with this! I think losing taste and smell would be such a drag on quality of life.
Thank you!❤️ My sense of smell is thankfully already returning.
Hope you are 100% soon!
So glad you are on the mend Michael!
Wishing you a speedy recovery. I have the Akro sample set and I enjoyed the chocolate one…Dark I think. Have to test them again.
Glad you’re on the mend!
Hope you continue to feel better!
Again, thank you for the well wishes! I’m just grateful my symptoms were so minor. ❤️
Hoping you’ll have an easy convalescence.
I hope you’re back to 100% soon.
You’re the first person I “met” who tested positive (yes, even online – I don’t “get out” much these days). Do you mind me asking: do you know from where/whom you got it?
I don’t mind. The answer, in short, is I really don’t know. I’ve been isolating, distancing and wearing a mask. Prior to getting sick, I went to dinner with a friend. It was really my first time venturing out in months. We both tested positive shortly thereafter.
Wow, so sorry!
Good to hear you’re getting better.
Booo COVID and anosmia! Hope your recovery is swift and complete.
Hope you recover fully!
I’m glad to hear you are on the mend. I wish you the best of health!
I wish you a good recovery, including your sense of smell. Glad to read that you’re on the mend.
Yikes. Sorry to hear that you had a bout with CV-19, but pleased to hear that you are on the mend.
Glad you are feeling better. Hope your friend is also.
OH, I’m hoping you get well soon and have a complete recovery!
Woke to misty skies and cooler temps, so am taking advantage by wearing Ummagumma. I don’t have a next bottle in sight (yet – something always seems to pop onto the radar), but I did just order a few samples from Aftelier so who knows? And why does there not seem to be a perfume bottle emoji among the thousands of tiny images available on an ipad?
I often wish I could create my own emojis. So often, there isn’t the *right* one for the expression/food/body language I want to communicate!
Yes, I need one for vanilla….desperately!!! 😉
?is the closest I’ve found.
That is good one…I could use some vanilla soft serve right now.??
The other day I wanted one for “pats self on back.” Is there a self-congratulatory emoji that I missed?
Nope, I don’t see one for that, although this one ? always looks a bit smug to me, and the swimmers ?♀️ look like they might be reaching for their backs. 🙂
Oh, that DOES look smug!
???…I googled self congrats emoji and someone suggested that combo…not bad. 😉
I keep looking for a raspberry emoji. So far, no luck. That, and a horseshoe.
? For a “raspberry” noise? Or you mean the fruit?
Gosh… I can’t believe it’s August already! These weeks still pass so fast, even despite the weird world we live in right now.
So… rabbit, rabbit, rabbit I say 🙂
I’m extending the CP project by a little bit more by wearing Le Jardin de Monsieur Li. I love this stuff on a day like today when it’s 27*C.
My friend is having birthday soon so I have to think of a proper gift to send her.
Just what I was thinking this morning — how can it be August already? The summer is flying by.
August 1st always makes me sad. It means my summer is nearly over, and I’ve never done as much as I need to, or rested as much as I wanted to, before the next school year comes around.
Aww… try to think on the brighter side 🙂
Sending virtual hugs!
Thanks, lucasai!
I love my job, but it is exhausting and all-consuming. After 15 years, I’ve learned to accept that it isn’t me, that it’s just the nature of the work.
And here’s a visualization of my SotD.

Gorgeous picture!
Beautiful picture!
Thank you both
Joining you in disbelief that it’s August! The years are passing faster and faster, and 2020 is the fastest yet. On the plus side, at least spring is getting closer in this part of the world.
Weirdly it is true
2020 can’t pass fast enough for me.
I would agree, but I think I said that in 2018 and again in 2019 so maybe what I need is 2025 or something 😉
Lemon coconut body lotion with Shalimar Eau de Cologne on top.
Monitoring the kitties’ reactions to two new litters. We may need to bathe the old lady, which we’ve never tried.
I’d love to hear from the Shalimar fans on the various versions and preferences. Eau de Cologne vs Cologne, etc. prominent notes. I’m exploring a new rabbit hole, as I mentioned yesterday. Not planning on buying much because we’re trying to save $$$, but the investigations seems fun.
Reading my second book by Sheena Kamal, featuring a somewhat dysfunctional investigator in the vein of Lisbeth Salander. Blasted through the series by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling). These were all recommended by Book Bub. Gotta love ebooks from the library.
How did you like the RG/JKR books?
Well enough to want to read the next one. They’re a bit twisted and dark. She does love to have characters that hold a lot within and keep things close to the vest to avoid appearing weak. (Harry Potter had a lot of that…)
I’ve read them, too. I enjoyed the first one best and found them to be a bit predictable as it went along, not a good trait in a mystery/suspense series, imo. Don’t love how gorey they are, but I can skip over the bits that bother me. I’ll probably read another one, if I can get it from the library. No interest in owning them.
Interesting what you say about keeping things close–you are right it is a trend in her writing. Lots of “strong” men keeping a stiff upper lip.
I did find them not terribly challenging to “figure out”. Library definitely. All of the ones I read were from library.
Bathing cats is an adventure…good luck.
My thoughts exactly!
They do make some pet wipes that are appropriate for cats if that would do the trick! Our kitties are definitely not water fans/water-curious so I understand your apprehension!
I’d love to hear about the Shalimar comparisons too! I’ve only tried the original edp (like it) and the parfum initial (didn’t like it). Good that many Shalimar versions are relatively affordable, so you could explore that hobby a little without too many $$.
One of our cats, and one that my sister had, took baths in stride, up to and including purring and sitting down. If your girl has ever shown interest in dripping water or getting in the shower right after it’s been used, you may have a little water-tiger. I hope so! Of the few Shalimars I’ve had, a 1980’s edt was wonderful, and a vintage stopwatch cologne, too. I am looking forward to the Philtre that is coming next month, so keep that in mind. The current edp I have is very Shalimar, but it lacks the old oomph that I liked.
She is, or was, a water lover. Always splashing her water bowl around and used to get in tub a fair amount when it was wet. Thanks for that reminder.
I do have a bit of Shalimar phobia from Back in high school, when I borrowed my sister’s and oversprayed – just about gassed out my class. To the point that comments were made. Terribly embarrassing at that age. It became a scent to avoid.
I’m new to commenting here, but am interested in any other detective series you might recommend as it’s a favorite genre of mine and I’m always looking for new books! Some recent series I’ve read:
Inspector Montalbano by Andrea Camilleri. There are many problematic elements in regards to women and violence against women. However, I did find the books engaging, liked the way the author approached the shortcomings of Montalbano, and loved the descriptions of food.
Flavia de Luce by Alan Bradley. I would put these in the “cozy” genre. Easy reads and enjoyable.
The Royal Spyness series by Rhys Bowen. These are goofy and fluffy and excellent escapism. Mystery with a side of romance.
Just read the first Inspector Gamache book by Louise Penny, and liked it, but am waiting on the next book to be available from the library.
I’m also curious to hear about your Shalimar investigation. As a perfume newbie, Shalimar is by far my favorite out of the three Guerlain’s that I have sampled (the others were Mitsouko and Vol de Nuit).
We do reading polls several times a year, you might want to read over those comments for recs!
https://nstperfume.com/tag/literature/
I liked the Louise Penny series up until a few books ago. Like many series authors, she keeps “upping the ante”…they have gotten more violent and possibly too outlandish even for my relatively tolerant mystery reading.
A number of people here, including me, have enjoyed the Ruth Galloway series.
If you don’t mind older series, I read all of Rex Stout and loved it…wish I’d saved that for the pandemic.
I like Val McDermid’s Karen Pirie series. She has several others but I don’t know them.
Angie (another writer here) turned me on to the Fred Vargas series about Adamsberg, love those.
If you haven’t already seen or read Henning Mankell’s Wallander series, those are great. Would read first, watch the TV series later. (And I have never read the Montalbano series because I saw the series first!) Ditto with anything by Anne Cleeves, who wrote the Vera series and the Shetland series — fun reads if you haven’t already seen the shows.
Hi Robin! Thanks for listing all of these recommendations! I’m going to put them on my library ‘to read’ list!
I know what you mean about ‘upping the ante’. More isn’t necessarily better.
Ack, you were asking LizzieB in particular, I’m so sorry for butting in! But I am not going to delete after typing all that, ha.
Haha, no worries. I am always happy for more book recommendations!
I love Rex Stout! I think I’ve read about 20 of his Nero Wolfe novels, but it’s been a few years and it’s nice to revisit them. Have you checked out the A&E tv adaptations? They are a little goofy, but I think capture the characters well.
I’ll have to check out your other recommendations. Thank you!
I only saw one of the shows…I think after reading the whole series I had made up my mind what people looked like, and I just couldn’t adjust!
Welcome to commenting! I’ve gotten many recommendations here, including the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths. I read Michael Connelly books also. Have his latest on waitlist at library. I’ll check out the ones you listed.
Here’s where I found the ones I’m reading now. There may something that looks interesting. https://www.bookbub.com/blog/mystery-book-series
I’ve also read the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva. Not mysteries. They’re spy novels. So, there is the usual mayhem but I like the characters.
Oh! And I think I heard about the Joe Grey series by Shirley Rousseau Murphy from someone here. They’re fun reads….light. A cat is the main character. But surprisingly well done in capturing a cat sensibility, they’re at our library.
Bookbub looks like a good resource, thank you!
The Ruth Galloway series seems very popular around here, so that is definitely going on the reading list! I’ll check out all your other recommendations as well.
Would you call the Joe Grey series…. fluffy?
Sorry, can’t help myself. I’m sure I would enjoy them. I have a very lazy orange cat with a big personality.
And…the Beatrice Stubbs series by JJ Marsh are quite good.
If you have a cat, the Joe Grey ones will amuse greatly.
So I struggled with Shalimar for a while, until I found the right one for me. I used to try the EDP and the EDT at department stores, and it just never worked for me, it smelled too heavy and old-fashioned (ducking!). But then I found the eau de cologne at CVS on sale, and I read some favorable comments on Fragrantica that seemed to address my issues, so I took the plunge. Love it! Okay, eau de cologne works. Check. Then I tried the 2015 Shalimar Cologne flanker, by Thierry Wasser (which is actually an eau de toilette) — lovely! Lately I have fallen for the Shalimar perfumed hair mist.
How big a difference between the Eau de Cologne and the 2015 Cologne?
Good luck bathing the elder cat, have some Betadine, Band aids, and Bourbon (not necessarily in that order) at the ready, just in case.
?. If my husband holds here, I think we can just sit her in the sink. She doesn’t fight him too much. But…the problem is better…bit by bit, I’m removing clay and replacing with paper-based.
Way too groggy to choose a SOTD, yet. Yesterday, after my post-gym shower I wore Shalimar Orange Creamsicle, or whatever it’s actually called. . .
I have spent all week doing chores (most of which I can’t readily do during the school year), and I forgot one of them. My old man cat needs his nails trimmed, and I totally flaked that I’d made an appointment, so now I need to find someplace that will take him ASAP. He’s submissive with strangers, but he’s got no problem fighting, biting and scratching me, if I try to do it! I can hear him clicky-clacking as he walks across the room. . . so, it goes back on the chore list!
Hooray on your first gym day yesterday! It’s great that the face shield worked out for you. Scary about what the face mask did though.
Thanks, and yes–I don’t think I’m generally high risk for a heart attack, but having that numerical evidence of the stress I was experiencing scared me!
I like the shields and if this goes on much longer, I will get one, too. I got a lot of good masks from a co-worker who loves to sew, so I have held off buying face coverings.
I bought some “disposable” but reuseable shields that clip to my glasses. I struggle with masks triggering my PTSD (that’s what the reference above is to), and my breathing becomes so shallow that I have nearly fainted after extended wearings a few times. So, definitely not something I can wear while exercising! But I suspect the mask is doing more good to protect folks, so I keep trying to wear one for as long as I can. . .
I love Shalimar orange creamsicle
???
Oh, I don’t blame you on farming out the nail trimming duties – what a pain!
For all his fierceness, SmokeyToes is pretty good with nail trimming.
Sweet gentle Geno, was a holy terror. There was only one vet tech who could trim Gino’s nails, without hissy/spitty/bitey/scratchy and he left the vet’s practice last year.
It’s funny how they can change personalities when under duress!
I know, it’s really quite amazing, actually. Gino would turn into this hissing monster and he was so quick.
Going to try B&BW Bonfire Bash today…an impulse purchase when I ordered hand sanitizer…will update later w/ thoughts.
Bonfire Bash is very nice…smoky, floral marshmallow…similar to Kyse Delizia di Marshmallow. Not huge sillage but ok for a body spray and fairly persistent.
For some reason I can’t wait until fall this year…breaking out fall perfumes/candles, limited edition pumpkin stuff and special food items at TJ’s, etc. My daughter has been playing the video game Animal Crossing and she has a reference manual book for the game which lists different events, plants, things that happen in the game based on the hemisphere and season you’re in and I notice that, for the game, fall starts on Sept 1st and I thought…hmm, I will adopt this date of 9/1 as my start to fall too! ehaeheh 😉 ready to do my part to embrace the joys of autumnal perfume, snacks, etc. on 9/1 if not sooner this year. ?
And I just saw Pumpkin Spice stuff for sale on Ulta last week, so you must not be alone!
i adore the pumpkin spice baking stuff from TJs 😀
Sept first always starts fall for me. No matter what the calendar or temperature says. I also start spring on March first, lol.
I bought the Bonfire Bash lotion a few months ago, I like it a lot. And I am very much looking forward to fall!
I’m in Eau Premiere and today is my Friday. Saw a fox cross the road on my way to work this morning. He was carrying a dead mouse in his mouth. Breakfast I presume.
I’m loving how my new car gives me a reminder when I turn it off to “please remember to take your cell phone” So thoughtful, lol.
I did remember to rabbit at 3 am this morning.
my car does that too!
Does it speak or just a written reminder on the touch screen? I’m still learning all the features of this car. Because of covid I didn’t get any sort of walk through, just handed the keys and I drove away.
just a written reminder. That’s good enough for me – and I still leave my phone in the car every so often anyway, mostly because it’s black and the seats are black and so it’s easy to overlook. 🙂 Volkswagen?
Yes!? Alltrack wagon! I had to get one before they are gone forever!
same car!!!! Ours is red…
Foxes are so cute! I used to see them when I was doing field research in MN–so expressive in their ears and tails!
I do NOT want my car to talk to me! I don’t want my microwave, refrigerator, toaster, or other appliance to talk to me, either. Anything that beeps, scrolls text, or speaks aloud should have the option to shut it off permanently. Why do I need my microwave to beep 5 times to tell me the food is done? I can hear that it’s stopped rotating. I definitely don’t need my toaster to buzz. The toast coming up is a pretty clear sign that it has done it’s job.
Ugh. Sorry. Had to get that off my chest. . .
Agree!
I also miss the days when there were devices that did just one thing, like alarm clocks and calculators and digital voice recorders (of which I have a couple of each). I find cell phones addictive and distracting, and I miss the days when my life was more in the moment.
I have absolutely been accused of being a Luddite in the past! I got my first cell phone a year ago, April. Not my first smart phone, my first cell phone. I don’t think I’m ANTI-technology, I’m just the complete opposite of an early-adopter. I like to see how things influence other people’s lives before I welcome that influence into my own. The addictive quality of phones is a great example of why I hesitate.
Talking toasters, otoh, are just wrong. Wrong! 😀
they are addictive, indeed. I teach a workshop on this addiction, however I scroll endlessly.
My sister was up and out on her bike to Payne’s Prairie early today crazy I think the heat index is 107 in gville?
When I started working from home last March I turned off the sounds on my microwave. It made me so happy not to hear that loud beep-beep-beep anymore. 😀
Beautiful!
I think foxes are cute too, especially the kits!?
Oh my car doesn’t actually talk to me, just a message on the smart screen. I don’t need a car talking to me either, lol.
Oh, a message on a screen is enough to get my goat! My dad’s microwave flashes the message “enjoy your meal!” when it finishes. I HATE it. It feels very judgey, or at least like an emotionally laden assumption. I don’t eat especially chaotically anymore, but when I did, having the microwave call the melted marshmallows and chocolate I was about to smear on a graham cracker a “meal” seemed like adding insult to injury. ??
Eau Premiere — you smell great!
Thanks! It’s a favorite!
I love foxes, such great creatures. When we lived in Pacifica, South of SF, a fox would occasionally make it onto the local golf course and steal the golfer’s golf balls. It was hilarious to watch!
Ha! That would be funny.
Heh. I don’t like any inanimate object talking to me. They always sound like they’re nagging. Self checkout machines, especially. And the back doors on buses. They actually yell at you.
What I needed when I was in CA two years ago, though, was a car reminding me to take grocery bags into the store. Those I always forgot.
I should have clarified that it doesn’t talk, just a written message. Thank gosh! I don’t like all those inanimate voices either. When I was in college, and I’m talking late ‘80’s here, my roomie had a Nissan that talked. It was really ahead of it’s time. We used to always make up stuff that she probably should have been saying.?
LOL! My washer and dryer play a tune when they finish and I used to have an old Nikon Cool Pix that would say « Too dark, use frash! » in a Japanese female voice.
Ciao a tutti
Taking a vacation with the family
My SOTD will be boring going forward because I only packed Shalimar & Shalimar creamsicle as Marjorie calls it..
Taking a break from my Tudor series book and will have some more mindless reads.
Enjoy your vacation!
Hey, you’re going to smell great on vacation!
Have a great vacation!
And you smell marvelous!
Have fun on vacation and stay safe!
Enjoy your vacation and I’m all in for mindless reads.
Enjoy your vacation!
Have great fun, and when you get back tell us if you find any really great mindless reads!
Have a wonderful vacation! We hope to get somewhere in the next month,
Thanks all!
I’m in last night’s Angel Muse, which I sprayed on just before we did a beer tasting with friends. Note to self: don’t spritz on perfume just before blind tasting beer! Feeling a little worse for wear, but had a very fun evening.
I hope you had great fun!
Pedialyte works wonders for a hangover. More electrolites than Gatoraide and less calories.
the pops in the freezer are good to keep
I woke up to lots of thunder and lightning early in the morning and went back to sleep and had a weird dream about flying to Sydney, Australia. What was weird was that my entire family was there, father, mother, grandmother, brother, and I was in charge of showing everyone around, but we got funnelled from an airplane to a boat to a train and could never locate our luggage…. I was struggling to guide us through it all and looking for a nice hotel but all we could find was a big casino. Hmmm. Not looking for a psychoanalytic account of this one! I’m having my second mug of coffee and have sprayed myself lavishly with Elixir des Merveilles, which is my favourite version of that scent. Yummy. Last night I made another recipe from the current Bon Appetit, shredded chicken salad with sesame–there’s thinly sliced cucumbers and scallions and a wonderful tahini-lime-soy dressing. Very light and refreshing and I have some left over for today’s lunch!
That salad sounds wonderful!
Lost luggage is my recurring nightmare – to the extent that I started figuring out it was a dream and willing myself into waking up to stop it 🙂
I like your salad. Will think of something similar.
Agree…the salad sounds divine.
That salad sounds wonderful!
I really need to try the Elixir version someday.
I have crazy airport dreams now and then. Or travel ones where I’m kind of lost…not anxious lost, just puzzled. Years ago I had a dream I flew to NYC to visit my then-boyfriend. I arrived in summer clothes and it was snowing, and I realized my luggage was still sitting on the curb in SFO. That was confusing.
Haven’t chosen anything today but think I will go with some sort of cologne. Probably Mugler Cologne or Come Together as they call it now I guess? I think it’s super refreshing. Can’t wear anything that will clash with my Korean cooking scents later haha.
Anyone interest in a freebie bottle of Shalimar edp? I have two and don’t really wear the edp as much in the summer, I usually wear the edt or cologne. I figure I’d do a freebie of the open edp I have and keep my boxed one for fall/winter. First come, first serve. It’s a mostly full bigger bottle- 100 ml I think.
May I place dibs if it is still available?
It’s yours! My email is at my gravatar- send me your address. I think I may still have it but it will keep me from looking for it. 🙂
Thank you, KellyC! So excited!! ? I will email you my home address later this afternoon!
Noooo – not August already. Kyoto for a thoughtful morning. I’m putting together a powerpoint of pics from my mom’s life. She died at the end of June and we will hold an online memorial service for family (very small) soon.
Oh springpansy, I was so into myself that I don’t even recall that your mom passed away. I am so sorry to hear this. I hope the memorial service provides some type of closure. Hugs to you and your family.
Thanks, hajusuuri. No worries, I didn’t mention it on NST at the time. I was sad and I feel like my sister has been difficult about things. But Mom was 94 – she was blessed with a good life.
Springpansy, I was not aware about your mom passing. I am so very sorry. Sending you comforting hugs. Having you in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks, PL67. (see my note to hajusuuri). I do appreciate your thoughts and prayers!
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. (((HUGS))) to you.
Thanks, ST.
Thoughts with you and your family! Hope that this doesn’t end up driving a wedge between you and your sister. We always need each other more after a close loved one passes away.
I’m trying hard with my sis.
I love saving and seeing picture collections – I am sure many of your family and friends will be very glad you are doing this.
Yes, the pics are really great.
I’m so sorry, Springpansy. I hope that putting together the photos makes you smile over the memories of your dear mother.
All the photos are the best part. So many fun memories.
Hoping the memorial service will comfort you.
Thanks, Aurora.
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I did the photo montage for my dad’s memorial service and it was a way to start processing my feelings. Laughter and tears, whenever they come, are good for the soul. Hugs to you and your family.
I’m so sorry to read this.
I am so sorry springpansy. I am looking at a restored picture of my mom here next to my laptop. She was working at the Chrysler Building in NYC during WWII and such a fashion plate. She died at 95.
I hope your memories are sweet.
94 years is blessed indeed but nonetheless I’m very sorry for your loss. I hope looking through the many memories and choosing the favorites can bring you some joy today!
I’m very sorry for your loss, springpansy.
I am sending you a big hug and wishing you well during such a time of sadness. Such a huge loss.
Please accept my condolences as well, SP. A mother’s love is irreplaceable. Big hugs to you.
Adding more sympathy. We lost my dad earlier this year, same age as your mom, and so far have not marked his passing in any way, I think we were hoping we could do something in person. But I like that you are going to do something online, and wonder if we should do that. Will you do an actual eulogy?
I need to do something soon (for my own emotional health), and church was important to mom. So I talked to her pastor and he is happy to do something online with us. Probably not a full eulogy. What we are planning is a Zoom call with a little music, the pastor will say a few words, read a verse and a say a prayer. I haven’t met him, but I liked talking to him on the phone. Then we will show our Powerpoint of pictures of her life and people can share memories. And that’s it. (I don’t think she will have many friends to join us as they have passed away except for a couple), but my family, my sister’s family, my cousin and a few of my friends may join.) It will be simple but meaningful for us.
Hugs for you as well. I remember when you posted about him passing away. And everything is extra weird now with COVID. I did get to say goodbye to her, but I was dressed in all the PPE (she was in a memory care center and they did have some people positive for COVID there). I took my mask off for a second so she could see me. And I held her hand and talked to her.
Thank you so much for sharing the details, that’s really helpful.
And I’m so happy you were able to see her and talk to her.
I’m so sorry to read of your loss, especially during these difficult times when we can’t gather as we usually would. My condolences to you and your family.
My condolences on your mother’s passing, springpansy. I hope that you find some comfort in the memorial service. Hugs.
I truly appreciate everyone’s thoughts and condolences. It’s nice to know that you are thinking of us. Thank you!
I’m so sorry for the loss of your beloved mother. I hope the memorial brings you peace and good memories.
Thanks, cazaubon!
I’m so sorry for your loss, D.
Thanks, S.
Eau d’ Orange vert for book, blanket, sunshine, crickets in tall grass, and rustling leaves.
Yes to summer bug songs. How many different ones can you count? We hear five or six different ones around our house.
I’ve not tried counting – will pay attention to it now though and see if I can identify different sounds.

The other 3 are available: Delina (I already have a FB), Cassili and Meliora. With NJ Tax, new bubble envelope and postage, the total for each is $26.50. If interested, please dibs here and send me an email with subject Parfums de Marly split. If there’s more interest, I can purchase 2 sets. Don’t pay me yet though as there’s no guarantee that I’ll get the set since the earliest I can purchase is on August 4. The set is on sale for $85 (normally $125).
In other news, Family Zoom is on hiatus as one sister is unavailable today (visiting daughters ?), the bro set a condition for participation and the other sister decided that it is unlikely that we will avoid getting mired in to taboo topics. We will Zoom again as things come up that require a family discussion.
And a last minute add, which lillyjo saw late yesterday — the ex-friend conveyed a message through a mutual friend that I can go back to Rosary Brigade. ???. She could have called me or texted me or even let my sister know! I suppose she was guilted into “accepting” me back? Nope.
Did I tell you that you smell great?
No? Well, now I do.
You smell great!
Thanks, sweetie!
Send a reply back that you’re too busy saying a novena for her to rejoin the group, hajusuuri. ?
No SoTD yet. Can’t make up my mind. It’s so hot outside, and I had a bad coughing/breathing morning. Perhaps a day off will help.
Consumed reading Neal Stephenson’s REAMDE. Savoring every word.
Rabbit, rabbit and stay safe.
Lol on the novena!
Thanks. FWIW, I am not even Roman Catholic but I suppose I can make up the equivalent of a novena ?
Or simply Google one. ? Everything seems to be on the Internet!
Haven’t smelled this, but I find violet scents to be gloriously cooling.
Violet Shot shot up (pun intended) to one of the perfumes that I must add to my collection.
I will dib on one, and will email after work.
That lady is very insincere, imo.
Great! And I agree with the insincerity.
I see vanilla is listed as the primary note for Violet Shot on Fragrantica. ? Tell us more please. I tried Vanilla Shot but actually didn’t get enough vanilla from that one…mostly coriander if memory serves.
Ha! So my honker was correct. I must not have looked at the notes because I kept wondering why I was smelling vanilla! I thought it came from the waffles I had for breakfast. In any case, picture a slightly sweet non-lipstick territory violet with musky vanilla.
Glad to hear that you won’t be dealing with family drama on Zoom for a little bit, at least.
Mmm, Violet Shot is a good one!
Wearing Chanel Beige EdT.
Gorgeous summer day! Finally the heat and humidity are gone and we are enjoying a warm, sunny day.
Waiting at the ophthalmologist office for my mother to be seen. She is extremely anxious about having people so close to her face. I understand her feeling. Unfortunately, her doctor refused to keep sending refills of her eyes drops to the pharmacy because it was already a year since her last check up. I hope everything is safe for her.
Planning to take a long walk later this afternoon and relax for the rest of the weekend.
Happy and healthy weekend, everyone! ?
Good luck to your mother at the appointment.
Thanks Aurora.
Oh, I’ve been postponing my dentist visit for precisely the same reason. I hope all goes smoothly! And you smell marvelous, Beige is quite nice (and underrated, IMO).
I love my dentist, but not feeling comfortable with people in my space, and I’d have to take Mass MUNI transit, another not-so-safe feeling right now.
I have also been postponing my yearly check up with my dentist. I think I will leave it for next year, unless I have an emergency. It is too stressful right now.
I too am postponing my dental cleaning. I’m being very good about flossing, so that will have to do. ?♀️
Well, I’ll be honest, he moved from the 11th floor to the 22nd floor, did I mention I HATE heights?
My workaround is to climb all 22 flights of stairs to wear me out enough that I’m too tired to focus on the height. 😯
I make sure to call the receptionist prior to stair climbing in case I have a heart attack along the way…. Someone will know to come get me.
Same here! I hope my flossing is good enough to carry me off to next year!
I understand your mom feeling uncomfortable for sure, but still important to have this appointment. I’ll be thinking of you both.
Thank you, Springpansy. This was an appointment that could not be postponed, as mom wanted. Hope her eyes health is stable, so she doesn’t have to come back soon.
Wishing you luck, and a good weekend!
Thank you, Lillyjo! Everything went smoothly.
Glad to hear that your mom’s appointment went well today.
And now for something completely different: I think that Wrappings is wonderful in the summer, too! You are right about how it blooms and wafts. ? I should keep a bit of my second decant to test in cooler weather, just to see how I feel about it then.
Thank you, Jalapeno!
I sprayed on more Wrappings later this afternoon. This is definitely going to become a summer staple for me more than a winter scent. People tend to associate it with the holidays, but I never saw it that way. It cuts the heat really nice and it is not overwhelming. However, it becomes very loud on me on cold temps. Like you, I will try it again in cooler temps and see if this year it behaves different on my skin.
Did my chores in SDV this morning. The only thing I have to do is wrap my father’s birthday gift and have 4 hours. Wearing Amouage Memoir body butter on this rainy, cool, gray day. I am loving my first day of vacation after an arduous work day yesterday.
Happy vacation Dawn!
2nd that! Hope it is lovely.
I’ve been working a LOT due to COVID and issues at work, so I haven’t posted lately, but many thanks to all of you who post daily. Often, after a long day, I read your posts and it is SO NICE to read about perfume and kindness. So to all of you: thanks for being here.
Yesterday’s CP was great. I loved the answers and it reminded me of several loves that I haven’t worn much lately, like Eau Claire de Merveilles and No 5 L’eau, both of which I need to pull out.
My late post for Friday CP: this summer I’ve mostly worn Ormonde Jayne Woman (many thanks for missionista), LL Rose 31 from a decant, and YSL In Love Again. Yesterday, I wore In Love Again, and it was perfection. It’s a younger and less formal version of Rose Ikebana, minus the tea.
Stay safe everyone!
In Love Again is one of the perfumes I regret not buying when it first came out. It’s lovely.
Yes! to your first paragraph – I really enjoy this peaceful, kind and fragrant spot on the internet.
And thank YOU for chiming in when you can!
Always appreciate seeing you here, gvillecreative. Hugs.
It did get hot yesterday but it has already changed, 24C today. I’ve been wearing Penhaligon’s Hammam Bouquet, a really good rose, powdery but not too much, drydown ambery and sandalwoody. My partial bottle is vintage though, it may have been reformulated
Looks like we will cool down later this week, just as soon as this big storm goes through.
I still wish I’d bought Elixir, the “modern” version of HB.
Sorry for the perfume regret, Robin. I didn’t know the connection between the two perfumes. Penhaligon’s is hit and miss for me.
It was a lighter version by Olivia Giacobetti, really lovely.
Would have bought if it came in a smaller size.
Shalimar Body Creme. Again. ?
I think Shalimar is becoming the NST mascot…I don’t think I used to see this many mentions! I wish I had a way of doing a graph based on comment mentions…
Hi everyone, Wearing my favorite comfort scent, the original Fendi by Fendi.
I’m not sure if anyone knew him, it was mentioned in some of the FaceBook perfume groups yesterday that Pedro D’ Ardis recently passed away.
Pedro was a kind, thoughtful, and lovely person. I don’t remember what his avatar/NST name was.
He will be greatly missed.
You smell amazing. I hope to find some Fendi at a garage sale someday – it’s possible, right?!
And I’m sorry to hear about Pedro. Thanks for telling us.
OMG, but he was so young! (I mean, not a baby but too young to die.) We have corresponded a wee bit, although less so lately. He used to comment here frequently as kaos.geo — I worried for a minute that was an invasion of privacy, but I checked and he used his full name in a couple of comments here.
Do you know what he died of?
Oh, I remember kaos.geo! That’s so sad.
I remember seeing him comment, too. That is sad.
Hi Robin, It’s so sad, isn’t it? The memorial Youtube video, link is below.
https://youtu.be/O7gNzX1ywVs
I have no idea of the cause, I know he was slowing down on commenting, I think the last time I remember seeing his comments was in late April early May sometime? I think he had a couple of Italian Greyhounds, we had lovely conversations about greyhounds and adopting a few…
And he used to come to the US every year, I don’t know why, but he would always work up a list of fragrances to shop for.
Pedro was the first person I knew who was an avid perfumista but limited his bottles to 10…he had to use one up before he bought another. I don’t know if he kept that up forever, but I do remember initially thinking that was overkill, but now I wish I’d done it!
Got through most weekend chores in Says Alice by 4160 Tuesdays. A rare case where I got a sample, flipped my lid and bought a bottle, and had zero let down. I sampled a newer vial with the current name, Babylon Sunset, and found a Says Alice bottle when I had an Ebay coupon. But they were the same scent. Like gvillecreative I always like everyone’s perfumed stories and suggestions even when I don’t sign in – hope everyone gets to relax today!
Thanks for sharing that story! I love fragrant happily ever afters. ❤️
I love this story, too and that you “flipped your lid”. Life is short – enjoy!!
Hi all! I scraped out the last few drops of my very very old sample of No. 19 EDT (back from when decanters still sold Chanel!) this morning.
Something about entering month 6 of the quarantimes has me itching to impulse buy full bottles; guess I need a thrill!
What’s your favorite (current) version of No. 19 – EDT, EDP, or parfum?
Since my “current” bottles are at least 5 years old, I’m not sure how different they are from what can be bought today, but out of the two that I have, I still like EdP slightly more than extrait. But they both (and the EdP for which I have a decant from a friend) are great.
Oh gosh, you had to ask ‘that’ question! 😀
My answer, I adore all versions of No. 19, but for different reasons. My thoughts are for vintage juice only.
No. 19 EDT – Green, vetiver, leather-forward and (nearly) lyrical in feeling. For leather-loving perfumistas, this is your version.
No. 19 EDP – Salty Vetiver and iris, in a damp forest at dusk. Austere and melancholy. Breathtakingly, beautiful. I think of the Chanel model Carole Bouquet when I smell this scent.
No. 19 Extrait – Woody, oily, and vegetal, with muted florals and a hint of green leaves. Probably the most grounded of the three, and might be my favorite.
Gosh, thanks for these beautiful descriptions! “Salty Vetiver and iris, in a damp forest at dusk” sounds fantastic. Yum.
I’m happy I could help! In truth, I’d be hard-pressed to pick one, I’ve worn/owned all versions and enjoy all depending on my mood. The vintage is just so damned glorious.
I curse the bureaucrats at IFRA. *raspberries*
I love No. 19 EDT and always want that with me (vintage, please), but I have also quite liked No. 19 Poudre when I’ve tried it.
I rather liked the No. 19 Poudre, it was very refreshing! So-So staying power, which is unusual for my scent-glue skin.
I have a sample of the Poudre and quite like it! Probably not enough for a full bottle, though.
I love the extrait best – even the modern one. It’s wonderful.
I am really tempted by the extrait. I’ve never owned one!
I was out early for my walk before the marine layer burned off and a crow dropped a stale pizza crust on my head. I think it was deliberate! It looked very satisfied with itself as it flew to the power line. I was going to wear Pulp but ended up in Mediterraneo instead. The bottles are next to each other in the cabinet. I might make chocolate chip cookies today as I am fast depleting last week’s oatmeal cookie stash.
?+?=? (working on improving my emoji game!)
Uber Eats has really gone downhill since Corvids took over
Ooooo! Where is the bad pun emoji when you need it?
Good luck with your baking. You must have been ravenous after your long walk!!!
Boo.
LOL! You win!
Excellent.
I was waiting for “and it got zinged by the power line as it laughed maniacally”
Oh my! You made my day! A really needed a good laugh! ??
Never underestimate the power of a crow’s sense of humor, they are quite quirky little guys!
Crows, ravens, and coyotes are viewed as tricksters in Native American folkways and myths. Your story confirms this!
Have you watched the PBS show A Murder of Crows? It’s fascinating.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfI5-RWC-QQ
LOL! The squirrels throw things at me and my dog frequently. I know it’s deliberate. :-). We are cycling back and forth between chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies too.
I have a friend who works to establish relationships with the crows around her house, and she says that they are so much smarter than we give them credit for.
I love this story! So bizarre!
L’eau Mixte from PdN, sprayed lavishly, and then a few sprays of L’eau Chic, just for sport.
I hope everyone is having a good Saturday! ?
I like the PdN theme!
Ahhh, you saw what I did there! ?
SotD = CdG Avignon
Avignon feels so comforting for a Saturday. I have very little real life experience of incense so this perfume was a revelation (ha!) for me when I first tried it. Still enjoy it just as much each time I put on a few swipes from a dabber sample, which feels like enough.
Went on a random Netflix binge last evening and landed on Warrior Nun. Not sure if it is wonderful or awful, either way I’m hooked. 😀
Tiffanie, I do have memories of incense used in church, and the first sniff I had of Avginon brought back a lot of memories of Xmas and Easter services.
Avignon must be a realistic take on church incense. It deserves the love it gets.
I really enjoy wearing it, especially the way that it lasts on my skin, but it’s never loud. It feels refined.
And the idea of thousands of years of incense used in churches making memories stand out for people, that makes me happy 🙂
I didn’t “get” incense scents when I first tried Avignon and now I think it is one of my favorite categories.
I wore another incense, Heeley Cardinal today and I actually got a compliment, a man told me he loved my perfume and I was the best-smelling person he met today. I don’t usually get such comments but sometimes I wonder if people think positive or negative thoughts but are too reluctant to speak. I know I rarely say anything about how someone else smells. But I actually wear perfume for myself. I chose Cardinal today because it is especially soothing and easy going for me.
exactly! I didn’t understand Avignon at first, but I kept sniffing and it is now a favorite.
Cardinal is on my radar, it often gets praised as an excellent incense. 😀
Same same! I watched all of Warrior Nun in one go. Couldn’t really tell if it was good or just watchable. 🙂
that’s a lot of Warrior Nun all at once! I admire your strength of will. I did three episodes Friday, three more on Saturday. I had to catch my breath after that 😀 and will go back for more soon.
I think I might have also just been in the mood for watching some badass women kick butt.
haha! Shotgun Mary is my favorite nun. 😀
Spring is getting underway here, very early yet, but the magnolia tree next door is in bud and the days are noticeably longer. It’s been a mild winter, but spring is no less welcome.
I ordered a few Zoologist samples from Luckyscent a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been quite surprised that shipping isn’t slowed down under the present circumstances, and they almost arrived in time to coincide with the recent CP.
I was most keen to try Bee, but it’s a bit sweet for me. Moth is lovely, I tried an initial dab and didn’t like it, tried again and changed my mind completely. I’m testing Sloth now, it’s not grabbing me so far. It’s also quite the wrong to wear for my energetic Sunday morning housework 🙂
There was something in Sloth that I just really did not like one bit.
I just tested Hummingbird, Nightingale and Dragonfly. No winners for me in the bunch. I do need to try Moth soon. It seems to be well liked.
And of course our days are getting shorter, boo hiss! But yay for you.
EldO Vierges et Toreros today.
The angry angry tension headache I woke up with this morning was starting to make me regret potentially giving a perfume bad associations – but some mobility peanut work on my neck and shoulders, a dose of ibuprofen, two coffees and bacon and French toast made with my homemade sourdough have pretty much salvaged the day.
That’s a great combo of remedies. Glad it helped!
Glad your combo worked! I head straight for the 222’s and a cup of black tea with toast when the tension headache strikes. Never heard of the mobility peanut though, I usually use a yoga block turned on its edge on the base of my skull.
Rabbit rabbit!!
SOTD: Coco edt. I like it much better than the edp.
I like the edt better as well, you smell great.
Thanks!
SOTD was eucalyptus and lemon oil, to keep the bugs away while I got some gardening done! I planted several herbs, even thought it’s really hot and humid here (I planted the kind that like a lot of heat; we’ll see how they do with the humidity); and finally transplanted some wilting tomato plants. But the oil seems to have worked pretty well — no bites.
I have a Burt’s Bees spray like that. Works quite well.
Good morning!
Like Old Herbaceous above, I planted garden plants yesterday. I wasn’t planning to go outside, but I had irises to plant. I also transplanted a basil plant (attempt # 5 at basil, I think) from the little pot it came in into a bigger pot. Ditto with an oregano plant, which is in flower and trying hard to go to seed. As those of us living in southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey have been saying lately, it’s been very hot and humid here, too.
Those tender plants that I put outside in the summer and then attempt to overwinter inside are flourishing in this weather. The jasmines I currently have originated in the tropics, so it must feel like home to them. The sambac jasmine ‘Maid of Orleans’ had quite a succession of bloom.
Though it’s not a plant from the tropics, the ‘Teasing Georgia’ David Austin English rose has kept blooming during the hot weather, with clusters of blooms here and there.
Oh, you are brave…I will not garden in this weather! Luckily my husband will, we are having a banner year for tomatoes.
Hi everyone, I’m headed out for a socially-distanced coffee meet up with a friend I haven’t seen in years. Wearing Shiseido’s Murasaki (from the vintage burgundy bottle, a beautiful delicate, green, incense with gardenia, hyacinth, stemmy greens over incense).
I’m wondering what my friend Galen Nishioka (a film maker, creative, and outdoors lover) will think of this beauty.
I will see everyone later!
xoxo
Enjoy!
Have fun with your friend!
I went to high tea last weekend at a vintage-style, smallish place. Lots of lace and white china. Very limited seating. It was relaxing and lovely…So nice to get out!
How lovely! It sounds like you had a wonderful time!
I do enjoy high tea, scones, tea sandwiches, and a lovely-prepared cup of rose tea, it’s so enjoyable!
Help! Have just discovered the adorable 50 ml bottles that Parfum d’Empire is now using … and am lemming violently. I already own a FB of Azemour les Orangers, and have a very large decant of Equistrius, and a medium-sized decant of Cuir Ottoman, so there’s nothing more that I really really need, right? You all can convince me, right?? Failing that, have any of you tried both Corsica Furiosa and Eau de Gloire, and is one of those markedly more enjoyable than the other? Gah.
I much prefer Corsica Furiosa. I also love Ambre Russe, Wazamba and Aziyadé from that line. My latest purchase just before they went from 100 to 50ml was Musc Tonkin.
LOVE Aziyadé. I received a sample in the Magical Traveling Box of Perfume (a global project created by our very own lucasai), and fell in love.
Corsica Furiosa is a big favorite of mine. A summer staple in my collection!
PdE is a great house. Really underrated IMO. I own their Cuir Ottoman and Equestrius because, Iris! Wazamba is really nice. Plus, you’ll get to say “Wazamba” whenever you wear it. ?
So … nobody trying to talk me down from the ledge, eh. 😀
Nope! I’ve been really naughty and need company.
Somehow this makes me feel so much better. ?
I liked CF much better than Gloire, and the Osmanthus one is darned nice too. If they did 15 ml bottles I’d buy both.
Hello everyone! My dad loved the gifts I got him but he went gaga over the card. About half way through my Fresh Bamboo candle. It seems like BBW has gone through a few candle companies in the past 10 or 15 years. First it was White Barn than Slatkin and Co and now back to White Barn. You can’t find Slatkin and Co Fresh Bamboo but for me, that’s okay. It’s nice enough but a little annoying. When it’s finished, I will switch to Fresh Balsam. In the mood for a pine dominant candle. Washed off the Memoir and trying to decide on vintage BaV or Feminite du Bois.
Happy Birthday to your Dad. That must have been a great card!
It must have been some card! Happy Birthday to your Dad.
My fil usually likes cards more than the gifts!
Trying a Terre d’Hermes sample from a lovely NSTer. I like it, but the woody part is beginning to emerge. Not sure about that.
Was lemming a FB of Lubin Kismet. I had a sample and thunked it. Unf my daughter dated someone with a similar name, who turned out to be a crazy stalker, so I don’t feel I can buy it. Maybe vintage Cabochard if available for less than megabucks. Or Chanel Deauville?
I wouldn’t be able to buy the bottle either.
Super tired today and working. I slept in as late as I could, so I’m not looking real great. Thankfully wearing a mask as not to scare anyone ?
Sotd is KVD Sinner. Yesterday I wore Dame Chocolate Man and Orchid Soliel.
I like the mask for that reason – I don’t have to think about what I look like when I head to the grocery store!
Yeah, I never even try to look presentable at the grocery store.
Hi Lillyjo! So sorry to hear that you’re dragging your wagon. Mine has been drsgging too. I think it’s the hot weather. Your comment about the mask nay me LOL. I’ve been wearing less makeup these days. What’s the poinr?
I’ve seen a few You Tube reviews about your SOTD. How do you like it?
Hopefully, you can read my post despite my terrible typing.
Hi Petunia! I could read it just fine. I like Sinner. It’s a musky deepish rose with, I’m guessing a tiny bit of patchouli.
I’ve started doing a dramatic eye makeup look at work, when I’m awake enough to do it, lol. With my glasses, though, I don’t know if anyone can tell.
Hope you get some good rest tonight. I have abandoned wearing makeup altogether.
I hope so too. I had some exhausting dreams last night.
Yesterday I sprayed on Bronze Goddess from a bottle that has the gold droplets covering it, I think that version is a few years old.
Today I made a batch of raspberry icecream (to use up the rest of the cream and milk). It is a recipe that you have to make custard first with eggs. Last week I tried the recipe with a batch of cinnamon icecream; it turned out pretty good so hence the raspberry batch today!
Stay cool everyone.
I’ll be over with my spoon. Your house must smell amazing with your perfume and yummy food scents.?
Ooh, homemade ice cream! Sounds very yummy.
Oh my. Drooling.
Um, double scoop, stat please!! Its um… A medical emergency.
Hi everyone who may still be reading. I hope everyone is staying healthy.
I’ve tested quite a few new scents lately. My recent favorite is Tam Dao EDP. Gosh, it’s a beautiful creamy sandalwood, although, a little short lived. Plus, it reminds me of Robin so I had to post my SOTD.
I’ve only tried the edt. I think I got about 4 hours. Have you noticed that the YouTube fragrance people seem to be obsessed with longevity? It makes me crazy when they pass on a gorgeous perfume that supposedly doesn’t last.
I found an 80% fb and snatched it up at less half the retail price!? it was an instant love for me.
Checking in to say I approve, of course!
? Thanks Robin!
I haven’t posted in ages and hope everyone is doing well. This morning I came across my very old bottle of Pacifica Mediterranean Fig. The color is much darker now but still smells great and I’m glad I found it. I’d love a bottle of Philosykos one day but until then this is a satisfying alternative.
Nice to see you! Hope you are also doing well?
Hi lillyjo!! ?
Hi Nightingale! It’s a darned good fig, the Pacifica.
Hi Robin! It is a darn good fig! It’s still going strong, nice and creamy! ?
Forgot to post this morning – wearing DS & Durga Rose Atlantic. It’s great in this steambath.
Called an audible this morning. Got up early, had coffee, put on some mascara and a nice dress. We walked outside into the swamp and decided that streaming church service was a better idea than in-person. Turned out to be a wise decision…the AC had gone out. We watched the pastor swipe his face a few times with his handkerchief. ???
We also bailed on meeting friends for outdoor dinner. I did walk by a bunch of diners a bit ago at a local seafood place, which had a jazz group playing live music in a parking space. Resourcefulness.
Eau de Shalimar again. And am I the only person who sprays scent in the air and waves a facemask through the cloud?
Waving the mask through the cloud is a good idea. I was directly spraying my mask, and that proved to be too potent!
Spent today in Jorum Studios Nectary.
Had a most unpleasant start to my morning, sanitizing the compost bin and cleaning up fly larvae. All the nope… we keep having flies get into the house even with the windows closed, and one of them somehow managed to get in there ?
The rest of the day was an improvement though, and Donatella is gonna forgive me for treating myself to two 40% off candles from a local store tonight as a reward for not losing my cool with the bin situation:
Candle 1, Dark Tides: Sea Salt, Musk, Lavender, Neroli, Coriander, Cedar
Candle 2, Saint Violet: Violet, Jasmine, Lily, Mandarin, Cucumber, Sandalwood
Candle 1 sounds interesting!
No fun cleaning out the compost bin though, ick…
