Thank you, Robin! I especially liked the Dallas Arboretum video. 🙂
And if you click through to their YouTube channel, that man has TONS of videos…
Good to know! Thank you! I found that clip really soothing, the way he talked about enjoying those osmanthus trees. 🙂
Aww, the second video is so sweet, and I’m not trying to make a joke.
I’d plant an osmanthus bush if I had the room. We have a very shaded yard, so it would probably do well.
I have a big hole in my side yard now from having a tree down, so I am thinking about it…
Our couple of lilacs put on a great show this year, so I ordered more lilacs. I’ve planted three of the little lilacs I got a few days ago, and two of them have been dug up over the last four days, but not eaten. I replanted them the next morning. I blame the groundhogs who live under our sheds. I think the ones that live under the blue shed make a beeline to that semi-cultivated area when they’re hungry.
We’re still trying to figure out what could have taken an entire suet holder filled with suet off to places unknown. The hook holding the suet feeder was twisted, and there was a tree branch through the shepherd’s crook part of the pole it was hanging from. Red foxes can’t climb like that…maybe a raccoon?
We have an awful lot of trees, and a number of shrubs that have grown to the size of a small tree. But one way or another I try to acquire fragrant flowering plants that are hardy in our area, or that I hope can live through the winter in the house. If you get an osmanthus tree, I hope it does well for you. If you want sweet bay magnolia seeds, I could help you there. 🙂
Thank you for the kind offer! I would take you up on it if I were younger, but I figure I got maybe 10-15 years left in this house, so I would probably rather buy a tree.
My husband planted a dogwood right by my lilacs (a Miss Kim and President Lincoln) and they have never been happy since.
Learning a lot about osmanthus this week ? thanks!
Oh good!
