Today, our eleventh annual Haiku Challenge (if you like, you can check out past years for inspiration). We're also happy to include other forms of poetry if haiku don't inspire you. Have a perfume-related limerick or a sonnet you'd like to share? Please do.
If you're writing a haiku, pick a perfume or a perfume house (or really, anything related to perfume), and write a haiku about it. OR, skip the perfume theme altogether, and write a (non-political, please!) haiku about the COVID-19 pandemic.
Either way, use the simplified English form — your haiku should have three lines, the first line with five syllables, the second line with seven syllables and the third line with five syllables. You can put the perfume name in the title if that makes it easier, and at any rate, don’t stress over the rules of traditional haiku — this is just for fun.

Vitabath gelee
The green scent of my childhood
I broke my no buy
Thanks to you Robin LOL ?
I consider it a mother’s day gift
My bathroom still smells of it. I highly recommend it
And Calypso gets an enabler pin because I got the two new St Clair Scents releases. Diane tells me that she thinks the narcissus one is her best creation yet. I am so excited to try them both!!!!!!!
I have a sample of Gardener’s Glove coming so let me give that a try before I order more! Samples are work! Happy Mother’s Day, albeit a day early, ChocolateMarzipan!
Thank you!! Same to you!
I love Vitabath gelee! Have you tried Badedas? Another refreshing green shower gel. It has a distinctive herbal/woody note.
No I haven’t but now I want to LOL ?
So of course I had to go look and then ask my mom. We did indeed have Badedas in the house!! It may even have come before the Vitabath!! The scent description online sounds amazing…. patchouli is in it!! Might be my next shower gel purchase. Right now I am toggling between the Vitabath and Paris Deauville Shampoo and body wash ( a birthday gift from a dear friend).
How cool is that! 😀
I used it when I lived in Fl – it was perfect and refreshing.
I purchased it online at Smallflower Apothecary, the link is here.
https://www.smallflower.com/badedas/badedas-classic-foam-bath-500ml-foam-bath-10080675
Thank you for the link! I love Small flower. They have a great selection of European products.
I pulled the trigger on Badedas shower gel, some soaps, and the German Nivea hand cream in the tin.
I will be showering in style! And I adore the fragrance of the Nivea hand cream.
Pl67 have me some Nivea in the tin for my birthday!! I love it! I also bought the Speck soap a while back from Small flower.
Those are all scents of my childhood…. Vitabath, Nivea, 4711, Jean Nate….
Love badeadas. Can see the bottle in the bathroom when we lived in Greece.
??
Lord, I used to love Badedas!
Another really wonderful shower gel is Etro Palais Jamais, if you can find it.
Thanks
I will look for it ?
I forget, did you buy any of the scents other than the original green? And if so, how were they? (Also curious about the scents of the hand sanitizers if you’re not annoyed by so many questions.)
I only bought the original green gelee ( but was sorely tempted by the others- next time!).
The hand sanitizers definitely smell of alcohol ( not complaining ?) but the drydown on the lavender chamomile smells like coconut to me. And they are large!! 16 oz.
Also bought soap…the raspberry vanilla is yummy…and also very large!!
Good price on everything and with the 20 percent off even better!!
Oh and to answer your question the hand sanitizer wipes I got at my local supermarket ( shockingly because they are usually out of stock on EVERYTHING!!!)
Thank you for all the answers!!
🙂 Congrats on your purchase!
Thank you ?
And since it’s two samples no reports to Donatella.
Ha! Love it! That green vitabath reminds me of my youth too.☺️
The smell is outrageously good. Reminds me a bit of Wrappings. You should get some for nostalgic sake. It’s also incredibly moisturizing and a little goes a long way with a puff sponge
I love this. It is art.
??
Nice haiku! I’m excited to be an enabler! Let us know what you think.
??
You earned your two pins.
Will fill you in when I get them.
The mask says it all
Stress, worry, fear for others
Love for all mankind.
Feeling kind of deep this morning! Wearing Zoologist Bee for sheer delight, I’m wondering how long it will take for my travel bottle to arrive. Only about one wear left in my sample.
Here’s another haiku on aging I found online that I thought was relatable and funny:
I am so tired
Where did all my money go
My back is hurting
Happy weekend everyone ??
Both of these are awesome ?
❤️That first one and lol for the second.
Those are fantastic poems. I love the first one!
I love both.
Love both haikus.♥️
That first haiku is so touching.
LOVE THESE
I decided to write some haikus on perfumes which transport me to another place. Many of us have to stay home, some had to cancel vacations, but we can still travel using our perfumes and imagination, right? 🙂
Avignon
Glorious incense –
With this scent you can stay home
And be in a church
Ormonde Jayne Woman
Mystical forest
With tall grass and dark shadows
Sun shines through the trees
La Haie Fleurie
A summer garden
In full bloom, bathed in sunlight
Jasmine reigns supreme
En Passant
Green, wet and fragrant
Lilac bush blooms after the rain
Spring is in the air
Extra syllable in the second line of En Passant. ?
Let’s change it to “Lilac blooms after the rain”.
After I emptied the bottle years ago I never repurchased. This haiku makes me want to repurchase.
???
These are all great!
Beautiful haiku, Glannys!
Love those. ??
That’s a lovely theme for the haikus.
Wow! You are inspired and I love these perfume choices.
You truly have a gift. Each one is so clear and specific. Kudos!
These are lovely, Glannys!
Thank you, all. 🙂 I am glad you enjoyed them.
I am late to the game, but agree with everyone glannys- these are so good! I do love your butterfly in your gravatar.
Aw, thank you. And your gravatar flower is pretty.
I want to thank the kind commenter who mentioned Sarah Lohman’s class on Animal Extracts and Floral Flavors, which I took on Thursday.
Sarah approaches what we focus on here as perfume ingredients from the perspective of food flavorings. Historically, deer musk, castoreum, civet, and ambergris were used to flavor roasts, confections, and other dishes. Fragrant sharbats are still enjoyed in Iran.
Sarah is delightful, and the course was excellent. You can find out more about her book and upcoming courses on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
https://www.instagram.com/fourpoundsflour/?hl=en
Loved sharbat in the summer in Iran. My favorite was pomegranate. Closely followed by rose petal.
I must look up recipes!
SOTD is Chance Eau de parfum, another wonderful iris scent paired with patchouli and musk.
No haiku here, not my strong suit.
I’m headed out to get labs and tested for Covid-19 before my visit to UCSF on Wednesday. Happy weekend to all!
Good luck with everything!! Including your hospital procedure ?
Yes, good luck!?
Best wishes for the test and your procedure.
Good luck with your testing and your procedure, SmokeyToes!
Good luck.??
May the force be with you!
Good luck with the procedure!
Sending you positive vibes!
Very good luck to you!
Fingers crossed.
Good luck!
Fingers crossed that everything works out for you Calypso! ??
Best of luck on everything!
Good luck!
Forgot to mention, Samsara in my hair and Brit on my wrist.
Six Oreo cookies for breakfast ?
Lol! I had a Little Debbie swiss roll.
I’ll trade you some Oreos for a Swiss roll ?
Double lol?
Swiss Rolls! I also loved Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream pies. They are addictive and banned from the household. 😯
You can send them to my ? ?
Lol
LOL. I had oatmeal cookies. Sort of healthy? We’ll call it solid oatmeal.
Oh yes, much healthier!!
Yes! Creative nutritional thinking!
I do love my oatmeal, with chocolate chips and coconut. 😀
And since I am using Samsara as a hair mist do I need to report my tiny bottle to Donatella? Or the little travel spray of Brit which I gifted to my feline granddaughter who is graciously sharing it with me?
Only you and your conscience can answer that. I feel that Saint Donatella is very forgiving and does not judge.
Thank you for that.
Not reporting them ?
Donatella never cares about gifts, that is for sure.
You guys are the best?
Because, technically, I am supposed to be on a no buy ?
You’re just redirecting what you otherwise would have spent on gasoline money. Besides, the new perfumath rule is that if you get it on some kind of a discount, technically, you haven’t really bought anything that would count as a violation of a no buy (which, for you, I think only applies to perfume / perfumes products, otherwise, you would be in BEEG TROUBLE).
Oh my goodness, h, I am laughing so hard now that my furry granddaughter is looking at me sideways.???
So true!! I drive to work almost an hour each way and must fill my gas tank once a week…..and yes, only counting full size perfume bottles ?
I love hajusuuri’s perfumath!
Cazaubon, me too!
I see nothing.
Nope, nothing to report to Donnatella….
On lockdown with a
Perfume-hater: Tiny dabs
of Lush keep me sane.
I’m not actually in danger of losing my mind but I have an even dozen Lush solids that are a good compromise between nothing and full-on assault. They’re very…compact I guess is the best word, not only for their size but for their near-complete lack of projection. They stay very close to the skin and annoy nobody (at least nobody in my general vicinity, which is to say one person), but I get to enjoy them by jamming my nose up to my hand. I’ve been wearing them a lot in the last seven weeks. Right now it’s Lust (so so good, actually my favourite jasmine).
It’s a hard life when a perfumista has to cohort with another who is a scent ascetic. Good luck! ✌?
I love Lust. It’s a gorgeous scent.
Lust is great. Good thing you have solids.
Love it, Pyramus! Sending scented hugs your way.
I’m in the work appropriate crowd pleaser Vanille Insensee. I’m not very good at haikus but I decided to give it a shot.
This mask on my face?
Breathing my own breath all day
Gives me a headache!
My heart is heavy
Self isolation is hard
Miss my family ?
Awww!!! I feel bad for you!!!
My eldest mini sent me a photo of the red marks on her face from the masks.
I always think of you and my middle Marzipan when you mention VI. You should seriously consider the 200 ml bottle which comes with a free travel spray of any fragrance of your choice and a free engraved leather pouch with free shipping and 20 percent off until May 11 code Family20 ( hajusuuri told us…..and almost got an enabler pin from me because the 200 ml of Orange Sanguine and 30 ml of VI was sitting in a cart with $47 discount but I didn’t pull the trigger…..now that purchase I WOULD have had to report to Donatella!!!)
If you are one of the many people away from your loved ones during this time, my heart goes out to you!
Isolation is hard…big hugs to you!
Excellent haikus. Sending comfort from afar.
Isolation is hard, you captured it well.
Great job Madtowngirl!
My heart is heavy with and for you ❤
Biggest hugs to you.
Isolation is so hard! Sending hugs to you.
Hugs, madtowngirl.
SOTD Estée Lauder Knowing
I will share one Haiku from Basho:
Noon doze,
Wall cool against
my feet
And from me:
Knowing Estée Lauder
Who knew
A romantic fragrance
Has cheesewood
next one
COVID
People smiling in NYC
A long line forms
Starbucks is open
Knowing is a blast from my distant past. Was this another thrift shop find? Such a beautiful fragrance.
I wish!
I have a decant. I posted about first trying it last year, and a generous NSTer reached out and popped a decant in the mail to me.
What do you think about Knowing?
I adored it. But it’s been ages since I sniffed it. Something about the older Lauders. They were so gorgeous. Aliage is another beautiful one. I wore that in the 1970s.
Excellent haikus! That last one made me smile. Haven’t snuffed Knowing. Now I have to go google “cheesewood”…
Cheesewood cracks me up!
Isn’t it the stuff you find in the back of the coldcut drawer?
Nancy, that thought is both genius and gross! 🙂
I just died laughing
I enjoyed those.
Oh, Knowing is gorgeous stuff…
No haikus just yet, but I’m ruminating on the subject.
Wearing SB Hungry Hungry Hippies with the de riguere tie dyed sweatshirt.
Off to the Biltmore gardens to explore and wear out my phones camera by taking a million pictures ?
Have fun!!!!! ????
The Biltmore estate is so beautiful! Have a great time.
enjoy the photos
Did you get a membership?
I bought the annual pass, which was half price for people in several western NC counties. The grounds opened this morning. The shops and buildings remain closed. Imagine my surprise when they refused me entrance this morning! Apparently, although not clearly indicated on the website, one has to make a reservation first, just ambling around the grounds, and not the house tours, as one would imagine. Also not mentioned on the website, they are only allowing a “limited number” of entrances to access the lawn and gardens. Also not mentioned on the website is the fact they are “fully booked” throughout the month. In my mind, it’s classic bait and switch. I asked for a refund and got one. Bad business and complete lack of clarity on the website. I won’t be going back. Ever. ??
Oh boy, what a disappointment and anger-inducing circumstance. At least you got your money back. A pox on them!
Money saved. Possibly for a perfume purchase! ?
Sorry Deva. I’m glad you got your money back.
Me too! Disappointed but not crushed. I thought they would hassle me about the refund, because it DOES say no refunds on the website. Go figure??♀️
How disappointing. Have you considered joining the North Carolina Arboretum? I know they are getting ready to open back up and the trails are fabulous and so is the Bonsai collection. I think a canine companion can accompany you. Check it out.
Yes, I’m a big fan of the arboretum. I used to go there and to Bent Creek all the time to hike and bike. I headed that way after the Biltmore fail, but all the parking lots are barricaded, so people were just parking on the verge along the road. Absolutely packed! I’ll try again on a week day. Thanks for the suggestion ?
Haiku for Biltmore Estate Gardens
Biltmore doesn’t get
what a website is for. So
I will just sneak in
Enjoy Biltmore–it’s supposed to be amazing.
FEH on all that fine print with Biltmore. What a drag.
Morning scent was L‘Occitane Shea Karite Bebe water. Now Hiris sprayed with abandon and baked slightly in afternoon sun.
Dig nose into skin
Comfort and pleasure for now
When can I travel?
Nice!
Thanks ☺️
So true, so true! (As I sniff my wrist right now…)
You’ve captured the essence of longing…
oh that’s lovely, both haiku and Hiris. 😀
Not happy to see snow on the ground today but happy that I am off work today and tomorrow. FedEx finally delivered a package that kept getting delayed, now I am waiting on my final Harry and David order and Amazon order to arrive today. Spending the morning in Noontide Petals and wondering if I should start using my no 5 bath stuff since the lotion arrived yesterday. Finishing my cleaning right now before I get into the shower.
Yay for packages!
Always yay for packages. Good news is that I am getting my Luckyscent package and I thought initially, I was going to get in most likely on Monday.
Sending positive vibes for the weekend to all of you in the lockdown or not.
Went for a 35km bike ride, gosh, that cleared my mind so well and helped me de-stress.
Now, on to some haiku
WINTER PALACE (Memo)
Hot and cold at once
Rooibos is my cup of tea
Invite the dragon
L’IVREE BLEUE (Ormaie)
Citrus drunk on rum
Digging gold from deep dark mine
Iris is there too!
LES BRUMES (Ormaie)
Mist above my head
Inhaling this juicy cheer
Mood of Cote d’Azur
EAU CAPITALE (Diptyque)
A bit retro yes
Potpourri type of rose scent
Not sure if I buy
And Sotd is Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie

Oh, I wanted to write a haiku on Winter Palace, but failed. Yours is great, and I like your other poems.
Thanks Glannys
????
I think you win the haiku challenge ?
Naah, others are great as well!
Haha! I like the last one, and feel the same about Eau Capitale.
Thank you Nancy! I like Eau Capitale and I would probably buy it if if came in 30 ml bottle. I kind of lack roses in my collection.
? I am challenged to come up with but one haiku. Bravo!
A bike ride really is calming, isn’t it? I may have to write about that…I like the “Invite the dragon” line!
Commando so far, but have big plans to go out to the south 40 and do damage to the plethora of weeds out there (so scent will be Eau de Yardwork layered with Essence of Dirt). After that I will be comparing OJ Man side-by-side with OJ Elixir, kindly provided by an awesome NSTer. Have to find some hair clips somewhere – today is the date of the second haircut appointment I didn’t get to have because of the lockdown. Trimming my own bangs only gets me so far – the rest of the hairs were cut in a layered bob and they’re not quite long enough yet to stay in a ponytail. First-world problems. ✂️
I haven’t dyed or cut my hair in a really long time ( was supposed to do both in April for my birthday). Robin and Pl67 know how bad it looks ( “Cousin It” bad). Honestly, since I am WFH I don’t care much. But I am a sight on all my Google meets LOL ?
I was supposed to get a birthday haircut too… maybe this fall!
You and I both! We will aim for the fall ?
My bob fits into a ponytail now (needed to be cut pre-pandemic).
This morning got an email from Anthropologie re sale and free shipping, so I ordered some embellished bobby pins to catch any pieces that might escape the elastic.
I was wishing mine would do a ponytail yesterday, but somehow during the night it all fluffed and shifted and now it looks way better than it has lately (so I’m afraid to shower). ?
I’m about ready to cut mine again. Bangs are no biggie, but I did some research on the shears I used on the length, and they are thinning shears! They’re supposed to be dragged down the length of a lock of hair to thin the bulk. No wonder I felt like I was sawing through my hair. Duh. ?
My attempts at a COVID-19 haiku:
Rose’ with breakfast?
Why not? It’s a pandemic.
Pretend I’m at brunch.
I’m starting the family community project early, because I have more than a week’s worth of perfumes that fit in my made up family “perfumes that are supposed to smell like California”. Today’s entry: Oliver Peoples by Byredo, which is inspired by Los Angeles.
Sistine-
Your haiku made my day.
? this!
I may now have a small glass of wine with lunch.
Hope you are feeling better today.
I love your whole post! I’m inspired to have some rose’ and think creatively on a perfume family for next week. ?
Love it!
The haiku cracked me up!
I like the idea of perfumes that are supposed to smell like California. Maybe that could be a community project, Robin?
perfect! made me smile,
must be 5:00 somewhere!
Cali scents, breathe deep 😀
Love the response haiku, tiffanie!
?
Your haiku reminded me that I need to move a couple bottles of wine to the fridge…no joke…thank you.?
? bravo
I’m not the poetic sort even when my brain is working well, and I’m feeling kind of fuzzy-minded today. But there are some clever poets on NST! 🙂
Scent of last night and this morning: Lavender hand therapy lotion and drops of lavender essential oil in specific places to help heal the little cuts on my hands from yard work.
Hmmm ❤️lavender
Yes, me too. 🙂
You go on the lavender oil ?
Excellent on cuts and abrasions….plus the scent is divine!!
Yes to both. 🙂 I’ve been putting it on at bedtime, and I think my blankets are starting to pick up a bit of the lavender fragrance, but that’s fine with me. 🙂
muzzy headed too.
scent of lavender calms both
my skin and my heart. 😉
Very clever, Tiffanie! 🙂 I’d gotten cards for Mother’s Day and my brother’s birthday, but that muzziness acted up and I wrote “Happy Birthday” in the Mother’s Day card. Oops. I think it’s a good thing I just ended up spending a quiet day in the house.
Yes, I find the lavender very soothing, and I think it helps me to go to sleep. 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day to the many mothers and mother figures on here! I hope you get the best celebration possible in the circumstances!
*Hugs* to those who have lost their mothers. I know Mom thinks a lot about Nana A. on Mother’s Day, and those folks here who have lost their mothers, especially in the last few years, have commented about feeling that way, too.
For those families who aren’t able to get together in person, I’m sure your family members are sending love from a distance. My brother will call Mom this afternoon or evening. Mom misses seeing him, but she knows he loves her.
Homeschooling…oy vey!
And where do we go from here?
Love, patience, perfume
I had a bunch of last-minute report requests at work this week and had to work late Thurs and yesterday to get them done. I am still feeling a bit shell-shocked this morning. ?
Tomorrow will be the 2nd Mother’s Day without my mom and there is a deep ache in my heart.?
I intend to relax and not do a whole hell of a lot this weekend. 🙂 Solstice Scents is restocking some whipped soaps tomorrow so I may get in on that action. No affiliation just a devout follower.♥️
My sympathies for the tough times at work, and for missing your mother.
I’m so sorry about missing your mom. Big hugs to you.
? Solstice Scents. It’s my first without mom and last year’s Mother’s Day was the last gathering we had, 2 days before she was hospitalized and never left the “system” (3 places) until she passed 86 days later. Hugs to you.
Bigs hug to you too. A mother’s love is irreplaceable.
I’m sorry, Hajusuuri. I hope the day is not too painful.
Big hugs to both you and She -ra.
Oh She-ra, I hope you can find some peace in memories of your mom this weekend. I’m sending you the biggest vanilla-scented hugs I can.
Hugs and I love the haiku.
I am wearing Eau Premiere…the original 2015 as I have been debating swapping it away b/c I just don’t reach for it much. Today it is reminding me of Ostara today which I also think I swapped away.?
I shall be listing my 5 oz. tester bottle in the Swapmeet next if anyone is interested…I have to doublecheck but think it’s at least 2/3 full.
Whole wheat burger buns
Warm cinnamon sticky buns
I love my baking
Okay, it’s meh
I’m in OJ Woman today. It’s cooler outside, 62 degrees when I got up. Walked the Wild One, and nodded to an older lady who was walking towards me. As she passed, I turned and looked for some reason, because she always walks with her left hand behind her back. She was holding a rosary. Praying while walking, keeping the faith. ❤️
Your haiku made me laugh?
Thanks for being a friendly audience! ?
Not meh to me!! Pass me a sticky bun!!!!!!!
Passing you a virtual cinnamon bun as a midnight snack. ?
Yum yum….thank you!!!
Also not meh to me, I felt like I was in a kitchen filled with buns and breads! With the smell of yeast and a mixer filled with dough:).
Now you made me crave for a cinnamon bun
Sending you a virtual cinnamon bun, lucasai!
I ain’t picky with sticky buns!
Cinnabon, my love
Who can fill me up just right
Wait, my pants won’t zip!
LOL!
Oh Omega, you are the master of these haikus ?
Winter has returned, but I’m resisting. Wearing fruity lotion and Guerlain Nuit d’Amour, which also smells fruity. Will have to bundle up and take the dog out at some point. I think I’ll console myself with pancakes for supper, and copious amounts of maple syrup from a local producer.
Winter here too. Snow this morning ???
Oh no! Snow?? I can send you some sun as we finally got it out here!
I hope your pancakes are fantastic; I love having breakfast for dinner!
I checked your weather, looks nice! Cold and windy here, out in my winter parka and tuque this morning. I’m planning on a road trip out your way later this year, will let you know when I have more details!
Sorry about the winter parka today but the road trip sounds great! ?
Feel free to email me!
We got snow flurries in the afternoon. Unreal for May in NJ!
CORIANDRE
Just above freezing

Hmm, should I do it?
SCENTED BATH
Ah, the hot water!
Colored orange, smells citrus
LUSH soothes the body
Love your coriandre haiku
Thank you!
Bravo! Haven’t sniffed Coriandre yet. Must do! Your 2nd cracked me up.
God you liked it!
Er, Glad. Weird typo, sorry.
Lol on the Atelier! I was sorely tempted too!
I was doing the calculations last night in the scented bath…I can afford it (even without the unemployment) and it is a good deal. I think I’m going to do it.
It’s an amazing deal!!!
? sales codes
We laugh, we cry, we buy! 🙂
Yes ?
ENABLER!
BVLGARI Eau The Bleu
Snapped lavender spring
Bites crisp citrus, powdered
And steeped in oolong.
Love reading all of your haiku!
Ooh. That’s a good haiku. Suits well.
Good one:)
Really should have got that when I saw it overseas. Not available where I live but saw it when I was away. Your poem brings back the smell exactly!
Thanks, everyone! I always forget how much I like this one.
So first an apology for being away a looooong time…but I have missed my favourite perfume blog! And, I’v been enjoying my perfume A LOT while at home and with no care as to what the outside world thinks of my pong 😀 So this is about one I seldom wear out but I love at home.
L’air de Rien (Miller Harris)
This lockdown
is sweetened by
a cloud of stink
I am homed more
by this musk
than I could be
by a dozen laws
-unmade bed it is
unbrushed hair –
scoffing at sanitiser,
insouciant,
what pathogen could penetrate
such love.
Hi! Welcome back, you have been missed!
Thanks Lillyjo 🙂
This sums up this scent really good
it doesn’t capture the resinous patchouli/incense quality but I jettisoned it for the general feel. Sounds like you are a fan too?
It’s one of my most worn scents
I love your poem!
Love your poem.
“what pathogen could penetrate
such love” ?
L’air de rien is
legendary, and deserves
your unrhymed tribute. 😀
Welcome back Merlin!
Welcome back, Merlin
Your partner in crime is back
Hooray for you both
The wonderful
most priceless –
scent of old friends…
Welcome back, Merlin! I really enjoyed your poem.
Crushed under the feet
Of the mighty elephant
Flowers and fig leaves
My scent of the day is Zoologist Elephant. I am still looking for ‘my’ fig perfume.. Tested Premier Figuier, which was too dry and gone in seconds. Fico d’ India is nice, but a bit too fruity. Berdoues Figue Blanche is nice and sweet, Ninfeo Mio has a big too much citrus…. I am still searching. The Elephant is quite nice, but the price is not.
Great haiku! Fig I’ve discovered is a challenging scent for me.
For me too. So far the only fig scents I like are Philosykos and Nicolai Fig Tea, and they are both lovely. The others I’ve tried have made me feel slightly nauseous. Weird.
Ditto. Fig is tough for me too.
Try Kyse Ficco de ( crap, the name escapes me!!). It’s a sweet vanilla fig….you will love it!!
Have you tried phylosikos or in Jardin en mediteranee? Both nice figs.
I tried Philosykos, it’s good, but a bit expensive. The Jardin has some notes I dislike, although they sound good on paper.
This makes me want to test Elephant again! I like Philosykos edt the most. I find some of the greener fig fragrances too astringent. Imaginary Authors have a scent called Yesterday Haze that also has a lovely fig note that is very discernible, but not dominant.
How about Debaser?
There used to be a Jo Malone fig that I thought was amazing before I really fell down the rabbit hole. Maybe wild fig and cassis?
Like others, I can now not do fig at all.
It’s discontinued ?
Celina might suit if you also like pine needles and sage.
I am not familiar with your scent, but I enjoyed your haiku.
Sorry, autocorrect, It’s Caligna.
I like how you combine the flora and the fauna in this.
Unsure if this would fit you, because it is also pricy, but have you tried Ashoka from Neela Vermiere?
I agree on Ninfeo Mio, I didn’t realize it had fig leaf until after I bought a bottle. I got it for the citrus and boxwood. I love it for summer vibes.
Didn’t make it in to read or comment yesterday, but wore Dzongkha.
This am is Mona Di Orio Cuir, the last of the sample. It’s good but I don’t need it. I’m on a “use up some samples” bender.
Haiku:
Working from home means
More than a dozen sprays of
Christian Dior Dune
Lol
Great haiku, love Dune.
Yay for double digit sprays!
Oh yeah!!!!
About an hour after posting yesterday that I had three loads of laundry to do, I laid down for a two-hour (!) nap. I set an alarm for 45 minutes, turned it off and only got up when my husband woke me. Rightly concerned I would be up all night. I wasn’t. Slept fine. Sweet.
So..the three loads went in at 8:30 this morning. My husband a three-hour Zoom class, so I settled in with earbuds to watch the Met Opera offering of the 1977 performance of La Bohème starring Pavarotti and Scotto. (It’s still available until this evening at 6pm ET.). What a treat! I also got some good knitting in.
And decided Angel Muse suited the cold-day nesting.
Here are my two (pathetic) COVID haikus:
Agnes standing close
Loudly meows in my face
Won’t you pet me now?
Soft kitty, loud purrs
Cuddles up, grows impatient
Sharply swats my hand
Nothing pathetic about creating something, ever! Your haikus are great ??
I love your cat haikus!
And Angel Muse is great for cold weather. As Robin put it, you can survive a snowstrom in it. 🙂
?
Your first haiku perfectly shows how one of my cats behaves in the morning. She wants her “pettins” right when the humans wake up!
Awww!! Yay for kitty haikus ???
I was reading the haikus with my kid, and she liked yours the best, since they were about cats, not perfume.
Ahhh thanks! ?
Cat haikus are perfect! It’s such a good format for the simplicity and suddenness of their thought patterns. ?
Hello fragrant friends,
I have not hardly posted but have been reading along over the past weeks. Just not enough energy. I have Covid ennui.
Have hardly worn any fragrance these past weeks.
But I love haiku day and so far everyone has done so well…they are lovely.
My sister is np on frontlines, plastic face shield and all, and we had a bit of worry about her and she tested but didn’t have Covid – 19, so she is back to testing others two days a week along with her nurse practice.
This is year three for us without our mother and again I remain grateful she and my dad are not here for this. To each of you who have also remarked on parents, I understand.
I have my job, my home, my health and am grateful. I have about 15 sprays of Indochine on and might treat myself to a backup bottle today since it is my birthday!!
Was hoping Luckyscent would have a coupon for Mothers’ Day but no such luck.
We are soooooooooooooo glad we went to Africa last summer or there would be much lamenting going on.
Happy Birthday apsara!
I’m glad to hear your sister is doing ok.
Happy birthday! I hope the upcoming year is full of health and happiness. You definitely deserve that bottle of Indochine.
Many happy returns.
Happy birthday and buy yourself that BUB!
Happy birthday ?????
Happy Birthday ??
Happy Scented Birthday apsara! And HUZZAH! to having wonderful memories about your Africa trip. ????
Hapoy birthday!
Happy Birthday! And I hope you treat yourself to your bottle!
Happy Birthday, apsara.
Happy Birthday!
So glad to hear about your sister, and hope it is a wonderful birthday!
Happy Birthday!Hope your day is wonderful!
Where in Africa were you?
Happy birthday! Covid ennui is REAL.
I am no good at haikus but appreciate you who are. Lovely. I’m wearing Lys Carmin today, it’s hot and sunny here. Going for a walk later, have a lapful of sleeping kitties now.
I’m no good at poetry of any sort. Hope it was a great walk yesterday! We are going to do one shortly, although it is NOT hot here.
Cuir d’Ange today (err, this morning), which is lovely as an occasional experience, but so ephemeral I couldn’t FB at that price. Review on Kafkaesque describes it perfectly. Am revisiting samples before doing leather for the CP next week.
Sampled Memo Russian Leather last night. Memo gets a lot of love, but several of the leathers I’ve tested thus far have just not done it for me. Well—Russian Leather brought on such an unexpected, strong scent memory of my grandfather, I cried.
Wish I knew what he actually wore. It certainly wasn’t Memo; he’s been gone nearly 10 years. I remember he had several bottles of scent in his bathroom, but that was before I cared about such things so no idea what those bottles contained.
Hugs and comfort to everyone who is missing their Moms.
Oooh, you smell lovely. Cuir d’Ange is a beauty.
It’s shocking how hard a scent memory can hit, isn’t it? Tauer’s Carillion pour une ange made me burst into tears as soon as I sprayed it. I had to pass my sample on to a friend because it was too much.
Scents are amazing like that. I had a grandpa memory when I tried Les Nereides Opoponax. He must have worn something with a lot of sweet myrrh, but I don’t know what. I still have the sample but I can’t wear it much, because it makes me wish I knew him better.
I also get that about my grandmother when I wear Chamade. I didn’t think they were the kind of people to spend a lot of money on sometjing like perfume. But they also went through WWII as young people, so… ? unfortunately they have both passed away and neither wanted to talk much about war time. My grandfather enlisted when he was 17, and my grandmother became a nurse, I have a couple of her textbooks from her training, and later she helped found a clinic in Madison WI. Then they started having babies and that was the end of that for her. My grandfather was a fireman after the war.
Rain drops in lilacs
Nature blooming unimpaired
So should we worry?
Enjoying everyone’s haikus today.
In Tobacco Vanille and I’ve made cabbage soup, so I’m feeling virtuous.
Love your haiku.
Nature does seem largely unconcerned with the human plight. 😉
Yes, It’s quite comforting, really.
You smell great Aurora!
Thank you Lillyjo, we both love TV.
That’s a beautiful haiku
Thank you so much, at this time of year renewal is all around us to comfort.
ooh nice haiku:)
Thank you Omega, when I feel down I go to the park and I am surrounded by beauty.
Beautiful 🙂
Thank you Karina, it is a small tribute to the miracle of nature.
That’s really nice! I have also found the lilacs comforting this spring.
Oh Yes, It’s two weeks of beauty.
I received, after a nerve-wracking wait, some decants including Montale’s Intense Cafe. A local perfume pal described it as a rose latte, which was very apt.
This morning, I went full out for brunch-at-home: eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, a mimosa — and a rose latte! In short, I threw in a spoonful of rose water, for a latte with a difference.
The Montale sounds interesting and your brunch divine. 🙂
How was the rosewater latte?
I will try your rose latte tomorrow
Your latte sounds really good, can you confirm?
It was a bit strange in its florality, so to speak, a fun experiment. A good idea for people who like lavender chocolate and the like.
Totally snatching this idea! I keep both rose and orange blossom water around for cocktails, scented coffee is next!

Yesterday was goat cheese and red pepper eggplant moussaka. Today sourdough, the last of my candied ginger and chocolate chip cookie dough, and a bechamel pizza with spinach, mushrooms, bacon and garlic-marinated roast chicken. Totally pooped.
I would say I am done cooking for at least a few days, but Mr. Teebear asked so hopefully “you know what that means?” when the last ¼ of this week’s sourdough was starting to harden this morning that I caved and said I would make bread pudding. But not tonight!!!!!
Oh yes on the bread pudding. I will add the banana you suggested in my next one. One recipe I saw called for making a hazelnut-chocolate spread sandwich, cutting that up for use in bread pudding…
We do have the last of an off-brand Nutella jar I could throw in there…. ?
“pandemic fragrance”
made me smile! my safe scent is
sagebrush, ginger, lime 😀
Nicely done!
Awesome call and response!
I like your pandemic fragrance haiku. That really sums it up.
Wow. All your baking and cooking sounds divine. I want to live at your house. Your husband is very lucky!
So am I – we both like cooking tremendously, but he’s basically ceded me the kitchen for the duration of the pandemic since my work is all gone for 2020 and I’m having a much harder time coping with a more sedentary lifestyle.
It makes a big difference for me to be able to keep my hands busy in the kitchen!
I love that haiku. you always are cooking amazing things. I’m sorry your work has evaporated.
Aw thank you AD!
It’s just the reality of the entertainment industry right now, and truthfully I’m lucky to live in Canada where they’ve made emergency relief benefits quite accessible. It is what it is and I’ve got some good support in my corner.
I’m just not built for extended periods of idleness, so it was a bit of a slog initially figuring out some healthy coping mechanisms and occupations!
Can I come eat at your house?!
I wish!!!! I can’t wait til the next time I can have friends over for cocktails and food. One of my frivolous long-shot wishes would be to run a bed and breakfast one day.
Spritzed on some Iris Ukiyoe before my shower. I think this is my favorite Hermessence (after Vetiver Tonka) and lovely for a beautiful warm spring day.
perfect! you smell beautiful. I wore some today too. Goes so well with haiku. 😀
Costume Nationale 21 layered over Debaser for a figgy woody pudding.
Still clinging to autumn, still golden and yesterday the wonderful, unexpected combination of mulchy autumn leaves with afternoon sun-heated roses. Perfect balance of deep, sweet rose and and sweet decaying oak and birch leaves. I wish I could have bottled it, just wonderful.
I have been fascinated by the swarm of honey bees that feeds from the sugar water I put out for the birds. There are a lot of them but seem pretty mellow and the birds still manage to negotiate the bee cloud to feed. Each bird takes it in turn ( the feeder is placed in a tree growing in a pot plant) and after each one drinks it rests, sings, then flies off and the next bird moves in. The tui are the dominant , bigger birds and the mossy green bellbirds the more delicate. An incredible display of careful social distancing, orchestration and calm. The bees all drink from the bowl with their bottoms up in the air, like bunnies.
Happy weekend! Love the Hokusai.
The other very interesting (Iknow, I know….but think of Bee perfume connection if this is boring) thing is that when you watch the bees feeding they tend to drink a lot and then when they start to fly they ‘squirt’ clear liquid from their bottoms…a real perfume squirt ( not a dribble). I hadn’t seen this before I became fixated on the feeder and the swarm. The liquid is pretty much pure water…now why is that?

photo of a bee ‘squirting’
Bee pee?
No. They don’t urinate. This is to get rid of excess water from their small bodies…they want to keep the energy ( sugar) from nectar but not waste energy carrying excess weight ( the water content in nectar)…something like that?!
I experienced bell birds in the Melbourne Botanical Gardens and fell in love with them!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA7JlTJtJ2U
The Australian bell bird is wonderful – but most Australian birds are wonderful – such amazing variety! The NZ Bellbird is different from the Australian … this is a clip so you can hear it. The three that feed from my sugar water have beautiful moss-green plummage with a touch of yellow on the wing and a real smoky eye.
Ooh, their song is so clear and pretty! Caught the cats’ attention!

One and a half haiku(s) this year. The second one doesn’t follow the form, but the mood was perfect, so I didn’t edit it.
No haiku last year
But I still wore perfume then
Keep calm and sniff on!

Social distancing, lonely
Yet I maintain isolation.
A frosty cold morning here today. No snow though. I did hear that Central Park up in NYC got a bit…
SOTD = Mugler Les Exceptions Oriental Express EdP, from the sample stash and perfume patron hajusuuri. It “feels” like Felanilla in a way, a kitten/cat fur cozy fragrance. ?
Interesting about OE and Felanilla. I’m going to see if I can smell the “feels” like similarity.
Both scents are rather plush to me. YMMV, of course.
Love the haikus…and your SOTD! We got flurries in the afternoon.
Thanks! Such weird weather this spring!!! I heard that a bunch of lowest temp records were broken yesterday all over the area.
❤ love them both, so glad you wrote this year.
Thanks Aurora! Your lilacs haiku was lovely.
Keep Calm and sniff on really gets to the heart of the matter.
We had flurries here in NYC, but nothing stuck.
Thanks missionista! Glad to hear that nothing stuck up there. I heard that one more cold morning is coming up this week on the noon news. ?

Je deteste COVID
Bonus points for a combo perfume/COVID haiku! Loss of all the points for my cancelled vacation. ?
I’m sorry about your cancelled vacation. You get triple points!
Love Caleche in Paris in June, I was scheduled to go in April (sigh).
Bonus points for use of French in the haiku about not buying perfume in France! I’m so sorry to hear about your vacation though.
I’m sorry you have to miss your trip!
Je deteste COVID aussi!
Despite my short commute down the hall to work, I’m still not keeping up with NST over breakfast. I must have lamented this quite often – my tablet offered me most of the words for that sentence.
I seem to be getting the tablet quite well trained on perfume. Every time I go to write something, the first words it offers are “Guerlain” and “Serge Lutens”. 🙂
I’m trying a few samples today and am quite enjoying Oriza L Legrand’s Oeillet Louis XV. It’s quite sweet, I’m a bit surprised at how much I’m enjoying it.
No haiku from me, inspiration isn’t flowing!
The first word mine says is Mugler!
🙂 nice to know I’m not the only one!
Siri on my Apple Watch asks me if I need help every time I start to turn off the powder room light
Legrand is a great house. I’ve liked almost everything I’ve tried from them.

Nope, not affiliated lol..just live near one and haven’t been able to get their grub since shut down
You should pitch them on a haiku challenge – winner gets In and Out for life, (or maybe a year) you will clearly win!

That Orange Tabby gets me every time ?
Love him!
Thank you. He loves you back ?.
I know. Really bummed about this weather ?
So cute and clever.
Thank you!
Awwww, cute!
Thank you – he’s the best behaved kitteh!

Robin-
Update, when the alcohol wears off the Vitabath hand sanitizer does smell of spearmint. The lavender one still smells coconutty to me. Highly recommend both cause there’s no Purell to be found and it’s a lot cheaper than what some perfume companies are charging for theirs.
Going with Samsara in the hair and Brit on the wrists again.
AND with my coffee ☕ three coconut caramel Oreos and three chocolate peanut butter Oreos. My daughter stole the Tirumisu ones. Y’all get enabler pins for these cookies ???
After my kids said they didn’t like the tiramisu Oreos, i found they had eaten all but the last row, so I had to eat the rest. Lol
????
That is the only reasonable action
Happy Mother’s day cm8 ❤?????
You too!!!! ???
Happy mother’s day! I don’t dare go looking for those Oreaos, they sound very tempting and my weight is already up due to confinement and crappy weather.
Awww!! Happy Mother’s day to you too!! I hope Mila did something special for you.
These Oreos and ice cream and ? and ? are preventing me from losing weight which is a good thing for me. I will eat the Oreos for you ??
I got cake for breakfast. 🙂
???
Always a winner for breakfast, cake…or pizza.?
Hand sanitizer is back here in NYC. Pricier than it should be, but I’m finding it in stores.
Oreo enabler pin for you! ?
Thank you! I got 2 small spray bottles with my last Vitacost (NOT Vitabath!) order — Brittanie’s Thyme brand Orange & Peppermint Hand Sanitizer. It does smell strongly of orange and first, then mostly peppermint, then nothing. I like it fine.
One is for my purse and one for my husband’s car, but we will go through these in no time so still in the market 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day to all moms here! The Viktoria Minya travel set arrived yesterday and it’s gorgeous in person, it looked beautiful in the picture but even better in person. My mother got a kick out of her gift. I said the dogs helped me pick it out. About to wash off Epic and probably wear one of the Hedonist flankers.
Happy Mothers day to all on this very sweet perfumista community
I am in Alahiiiine
Mr L wrote me a 2 page letter for mothers day, needless to we were both in tears at the end.
Aww, how sweet. 🙂
???
What a sweet Mother’s Day gift, and you smell divine.
Happy Mother’s Day to you!
Hope that guy spoilt you rotten today!
??
Thank you all. I am wearing a “princess skirt” today..a huge ballerina like pink skirt with lots of tulle.
oh Alahiiine
Alahine, I wait
For you to go on sale, then
Didn’t even buy
And am kicking myself for it :(, because reformulation
Awww so sweet. Happy Mother’s Day!
Cold and windy again, wearing Mon Guerlain Intense.
How do you like intense? I heard it has less lavender.
I like the Intense, it is sweeter but I still smell plenty of lavender.
What is with this crazy weather? We had snow again this morning!! It melted, but still. Where is spring????
It’s here – we had to turn on the AC yesterday. First time this year, and it will be even warmer today, they predict.
Wow! But I guess AC around this time of year seems more ” normal” than snow.
Snow in May is just wrong
That’s what I say ?
Tell me more about this flanker…
I quite like it, it is sweeter and denser than the original.
Happy Mother’s day! ?????.
Cold but bright and sunny day here.
Wearing Jo Malone Red Roses.
Enjoy the day!
You can mail back that Sun any time now! Lol
Enjoy your day ???
Sun is back to you tomorrow! ????. Someone is sending us again the rain for tomorrow! Is it you? ??
I would never send you rain. I try and send it out west, lol
LOL! ?
You smell beautiful ????
Thanks!
Love Red Roses!
You smell absolutely wonderful!
XO?
Thank you!??
I know that JM makes Red Roses in a shower gel, but I have yet to try it. That price tag makes me reconsider.
I have not tried the shower gel, only the soap bar, which is great. However, the price tag is also high.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
Thank you, KellyC. Hope your day was also good.
Happy Mother’s Day! Biggest hugs to anyone who is especially missing someone this year.
Today my “smells like California” perfume is California Snow by A Lab on Fire. It’s one of the few that my husband compliments every time I wear it – he says it just fits me perfectly.
Oooh. That sounds like an interesting scent, based on the name,
The notes sounded really odd – what does it smell like on you?
On me it smells like rose stems and leaves with just the tiniest touch of the flower itself, soil, a rock that’s been baked in the sun and chamomile.
Ooh I’ll have to look that one up.
No haiku from me today. I had a very relaxing day yesterday and hope for more of the same today, though it’s cooler and raining.
Yesterday, I sat outside under a Sycomore tree. On and off, one of the kids or my husband would come sit with me. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, just this dazzling blue expanse, the sun friendly and bright. The leaves were fluttering in the wind, and I just sat for a long time watching, wafting the last drops of Ormonde Jayne Woman (many thanks for missionista who is sending me more!). This moment, with the sun and breeze, is captured so perfectly by this perfume. I know others find it haunting, but it smells like love and sunshine and earth to me.
For all the pain and suffering COVID is bringing, it’s also brought a lot of Slowness (in the best of ways) to my life. I’m very thankful.
I too am grateful for all the time I have to just be.
by a Sycamore,
that’s a beautiful picture
you have shared with us 🙂
Your day under the sycamore sounds magical. Especially since members of you family joined you on and off.
I am also grateful for the slowness; I need it, in order to grow. Getting through some things put off way too long.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms. And to those of us missing our moms.
I’m wearing Avon Bird of Paradise in honor of my mom. One of her favorites. I bought a bottle for her on eBay some years back, and she was thrilled. It’s a really nice, if a bit fleeting, scent.
Had a delicious dinner last night from the local Irish pub/restaurant that recently reopened for carry out. I had their shepherd’s pie and the husband had chicken pot pie. Yum!
Oh your Irish pub food sounds so yummy! My mom wore some Avon scents too but I don’t remember which ones.
Gloomy and rainy here today. It’s ok though, helps me feel less guilty for still sitting on the couch. Eventually I will get up and go to the cemetery to visit my mom. My mother’s favorite flowers were daisies. Once I asked her why, and she said because they were the cheapest and you could always get them, lol.
Lot’s of love to everyone missing their mom’s today (really, everyday)
I did manage to make myself smell AMAZING
Sotd is BBW caramel apricot body butter layered under Alien the taste of fragrance and topped with Demeter Royal Apricot. ?
Oh,that Demeter must be nice!I love apricot in perfume,Jaipur is my favorite in that respect.
So touching what you say about your mother.
Hugs, lillyjo.
Oh I bet you DO smell great. I love carnations for the same reason your mom loves daisies. 🙂
Still no haiku ideas for me – although I’ve loved reading all of your haikus, the only “poetry” I can ever remember is Ogden Nash, I’m afraid. Broke down and ordered a bottle of Dryad yesterday, along with another tube of Mediterraneo hand cream. SOTM is, of course, Dryad from my near-emptied sample vial.
A cow is of the bovine ilk,
One end is moo
The other, milk
The only poem I’ve memorized that I can still remember, lol, by none other than Ogden Nash
How could you forget
candy is dandy
but liquor is quicker
Finally have time to read comments…
Life,so funny.
You try to re-connect with someone and get ignored flat-out,so yeah…whatever,is my only conclusion there.
My Instagram got hacked(what.the.hell.And Why??),so I had to delete it.Too much energy wasted to set it up AGAIN so jot going back there.
Sotd Queen Sheba,thunked.
I’m so pissed for so many reasons.
Anyway.
Happy Sunday guys and girls.
XO
And Happy Mother’s day to all the awesome, caring moms out there!Hope the people in your life aopreciates you,and that you were spoilt extra today!??
Sorry you are in a bad mood. The ups and downs of life.
Sending you some hugs. I have some photos that I want to share, let me know how/if I can. Baci
Hi,did you add me on whatsapp?
I’m sorry people can suck, johano.
I hope your mood brightens soon ?????
Thank you friend!
Happy Sunday to you!??
Hope things perk up for you! Hugs!
Argh! People can be so irritating at times without even knowing it!
Hope you have a better day tomorrow..sending hugs to you.
Ugh! Sorry johanob.
Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers!
Sunday Haiku
O, Guerlain, your old
perfumes are brilliant; the new?
Stop with the white musk
maybe a bit clumsy
It’s half-rain-half-snow outside. There should be a word for that. It’s not sleet, that’s ice pellets. this is raindrops and snowflakes, it’s kinda weird.
Cheers!
I love this! You should send that directly to Theirry.
stop with the white musk?
?
so funny, white musk
is my perfume kryptonite.
yes, Guerlain, please stop!
There SHOULD be a word for that – I bet there is one in Aleut or Inuit or some other cold-land language.
I could only come up with “snain”, which is terrible. nowI have to see what the almighty G–gle says
Sheesh, forgot my SOTD – Cuir Ottoman, a scent I love, then hate, which I suspect is a hormone thing. That should resolve itself in the next five years and I for one cannot wait.
I also think my dog is getting me Jubilation 25 for Mothers day.

Love those!
Also I want a pop tart now.
SAME. I could taste that chocolate fudge pop tart as I read, and I probably haven’t had one in 20 years.
Huh. I didn’t think I had a haiku in me, but my morning fume experience proved me wrong:
Chypre Palatin
Got a sample. Why, you fool?
Pocketbook says no.
Just reading in bed and enjoying my coffee. Morning was a little gloomy but I think it will burn off. We’ll be having a Mother’s Day “linner” in the garden, social distanced, just 5 of us total (3 households).
Won’t see my Mom until next weekend though as she’s working today (nurse—thankfully her hospital is the least COVID affected among all the hospitals in her California hospital network… as she is 64 I definitely worry).
Bravo to your mum, hope she will remain in good health.
Hope your garden “linner” was nice.
I’m trying MDCI Invasion Barbare and am interested though I don’t really like it. There’s something unsettling about the notes combination (spices, lavender, citrus, woods, violet). I’m getting interested in distinguishing violet notes in scents. Any recommendations?
I’ve been distracted lately by various things. I’ve taken in a guest cat for the summer who belongs to a student who has had to leave town for family and Covid-related reasons. He is still scared but coming around. He is all black with the softest and shiniest fur and very gorgeous! He’s sequestered upstairs for now while he gets adjusted. Later this afternoon I will visit Mom. They’ve arranged a schedule to bring mothers to a downstairs room, individually, where we can visit and sit outside and talk on the phone or on Zoom. It will be our first time seeing each other for something like six weeks. I’m very excited and dropped off some flowers and gifts for her out there yesterday.
Luckily we have nice weather here and no snow! Golly! That’s hard to believe.
IMHO the most wonderful violet is SL Bois de Violette.
Not my personal favorite, but some like The Different Company I Miss Violet as a modern violet (Betrand Duchaufour).
Maria Candida Gentile Exultat is an incense violet that I really like, too.
Thank you for these recommendations.
I’m so glad you can finally visit you mom! It’s been a long time.
Good luck with the new furry friend!
Yes it was great to see her after so long. We did Zoom with my brother and talked for 40 minutes. The time flew by. She was thrilled!

Great atmosphere set with this haiku!
SotD = Carnal Flower
Wearing a sample smidgen of this favorite BWF for all the mothers and carers and givers and supporters of all genders who nurture and lift up fellow beings and help them feel wholeness and comfort.
Enjoyed reading everyone’s haikus and thoughts and perfume choices this weekend. It took me until this moment to get to the bottom of this weekend’s poll. Thank you to everyone who shares here, it’s such a fun and friendly place.
I’m off for a long ramble on foot., so here’s my haiku for BWFs –
neighbor’s gardenia
begins to blossom, must get
my nose on those blooms. 😀
LOVE
😀
Must steal one of them….
Which I did!
tempting! 😀
You smell amazing! My gardenia has over 25 buds on it! I cannot wait for it to bloom.
oh how marvelous! If I had a gardenia my house would smell of it all the time. 😀
Happy Mothers’ Day to all of the moms! It’s cold where I am, but at least it’s not raining.
Here are are a couple of haikus; one for yesterday and one for today.
Mask fell off in store today
Got stern looks from folks
Sniffed wrist, Wrappings gave comfort.
Plague making me stay in house
Worse than big snow storm
But some Chergui does help.
Good haikus!

Love that second one a lot, perhaps because I’ve been watching blue jays lately.

Randomly wearing vintage YSL Y, who doesn’t really approve of polartec or lycra.
I enjoyed this video!
That was amusing. everyone has heard that about him. I’m sure Wil Wheaton had come up with several thousand comebacks since then. “Oh, you wouldn’t have a kid on your bridge? Scared he’s show you up?”… etc.
sorry, ST:TNG practically raised me, and I wanted to be Wesley Crusher so bad.
Happy Mother’s Day to the moms here at NST! And hugs to those of you who are missing your own mom.
I ended up getting those Tiramisu Oreos at Wegman’s earlier this afternoon. I haven’t tried them yet; I still have a few of the Dark Chocolate ones around.
SOTD = Mon Guerlain Bloom of Rose EdT, from the sample stash and hajusuuri. It’s a fresh and pretty green-ish rose to my nose. An excellent fit for the nice weather that showed up today. ?
Glad you had good weather!
Enjoy the Oreos!
The nice weather convinced me that I could deal with a bit of shopping today. ?
Yay for Oreos and nice weather!
The Tiramisu ones are worth trying, I think.
We STILL had Tiramisu Oreos at at my grocery store, plus Carrot Cake and Cinnamon Bun flavor! Plus we could get purified drinking water again in the ginormous refill jug (finally) for the water cooler. Big steps in my mind!
And thankfully we had gorgeous weather 3 days in a row. I will take it!
I *finally* found bleach at Wegman’s today, so I’m very happy about that!
Yay for bleach! I found an extra bottle yesterday in my garage storage cupboard behind the laundry soap when I was rooting around for something else; I swear I could hear the angels sing at that moment.
Sliding Doors
Time, where have we been?
Reaching for me through the wind
If I held you then
Love and Tears
Love can lift or drown
A pillow soaked of goodbyes
Oceans know my woe
Love and Tears 2
A bliss misfortuned
Lies have punctured through our dreams
Handfuls of regret
From one who knows best Love and tears one and two speak
so many volumes
took a couple of tries to get the meter tight
Sun breaks through the clouds
Snow and rain have left us now

They always say, “if you don’t like the weather, just wait a while”
what was it, 60 yesterday? and full sun.
Wow, what a gorgeous day!
Hugs (pathogen-free virtual) to those of you who have lost your mother. Or can’t visit your mother because of social distancing. It’s a hard time. I feel awful for those with loved ones in hospice if they don’t allow visits (we’ve had that here)
Took a break from iris yesterday for Bronze Goddess. About 10 sprays. A friend was out taking a drive so we snuck over (with her permission of course) and spent the day at her pool.

Jasmine, sunscreen scent the air
Deep breaths and dive in.
Enjoying Mother’s Day with No. 19 Poudre on one arm and No. 19 edt on the other. Couldn’t decide which I wanted so went with both. Missing both my mom and my son today but I’ve enjoyed lengthy calls with both. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms here!
Happy Mother’s day KellyC! Glad you got in some loving phone calls ??
Old Flame
Once upon a time
We shared our bodies and wine
Now you’re just an ass
Pumpkin in your Pants
Your emerald eyes
Beclouded the soon surprise
The smell from your thighs!
Fall of the Worship Leader
Your music in tune
The ladies lined to greet you
And you opened her
Part 2
You exclaimed today
Your ex-wives all fell from grace
Silly, so did you
Part 3
Repent my dear friend
He said, time is near the end
While he licked fire
?for Old Flame!
I hope you got some sleep last night.
Part 4
“Came back to the Lord”,
he declared, opened his hand
“Would you walk with me?”
Part 5
Forgive me, my love
Who’s entered a thousand ones
Our time is too late.
