PSA: Don't forget to change your clocks tonight! (Unless you live in a happy place that doesn't bother with daylight savings.) And the swapmeet will be two weeks from today!!
Today: our annual spring forward poll. As always, answer as many or as few as you like, or just talk about something else. If it's fall where you live, adjust the questions accordingly.
1. What's the fragrance you'd most like to add to your collection this spring?
2. You have to vote one perfume in your collection off the island. Which one will go first, and why?
3. It's time for (fantasy) Spring Break! Where are you going, and pick ONE fragrance to bring with you.
Note: top image is Crocus neglectus Peruzzi & Carta [cropped] by Umberto Ferrando at flickr; some rights reserved.
It is horrible out, snowing plus the sort of wind that feels and sounds like it’s going to cave your windows in, so I’m hunkering down in Lush Sun, a shockingly bright orange-mimosa thing, and pretending that this isn’t happening.
1) I’m not buying anything else this year. I’ve already bought two things I sort of didn’t mean to (one on a whim, one that I talked myself out of buying and then talked myself right back into again), and that’s enough.
2) I have a shoebox marked CAN LIVE WITHOUT full of bottles I never wear any more, and one of those can obviously leave the island, so I guess it’ll be Paco, the completely unnecessary bandwagon unisex scent that Paco Rabanne did in the mid-nineties. I should get rid of it in the next swap/freebie. Someone will probably like it.
3) I want to go back to Berlin (coronavirus notwithstanding) for spring break and I’ll bring CSP Vanille Abricot, which offends no-one and is always a pleasure to wear, in any weather.
Oh no, I’m so sorry pyramus! I would be in serious denial too.
That shoebox is a great idea.
Sun is a good antidote, but I’m sure real sun would be even better. You do smell great!
What were the two things?
I bought the Angel Philtre (sandalwood and vanilla, meant to be layered with any Angel scent or really almost anything) in January, and then I ordered the SL La Fille de Berlin travel-spray set from Sephora after having hunted for it all over Germany, failing to find it in Montreal, and then deciding I didn’t really need it. (I’m glad I did.)
Nice!
This time change is going to be brutal friends. This is my weekend to work so when my alarm goes off at 5:30 tomorrow, it’s really going to feel like 4:30 to my body. Ouch. Talk about getting up with the birds, I think I’ll be up before them!
1. Eau Premiere in the original formula. I’ve gone through 2 decants of this one and I miss it. It reminds me of my granny. Forever grateful to LizzieB who suggested I wear it when I see her and so I did. On every visit I wore it, even on the weekend of her passing.
2. My vintage bottle of Samsara. It’s beautiful, but not me and I just don’t reach for it. My aunt wears Samsara and when I was in Arizona I enjoyed the wafts I would get from her. Maybe I will bring her my bottle.
3. The gulf coast of Florida. Madtownteen and I had planned on another week with my parents this year, but since I have a paper due for my class that week and with the Coronavirus, I didn’t want to travel and expose ourselves to the germs of 4 airplanes and 3 airports. Maybe I’m paranoid but I just didn’t want to risk it. My son joked that I am the at risk population. Elderly at 52? Lol, I don’t think so my friend.? If I had gone to Florida, I planned on bringing Guerlain AA Nerolia Bianca, a really lovely, juicy neroli scent. It would be perfect for the beach.☹️ Maybe next year.
Your Eau Premiere story is lovely. One of the best things about fragrance is memories associated with them.
Age is an interesting thing, no? I forget that I’m 61 and certainly never think of myself as “elderly” (maybe when I’m 90?), but I AM in the “at risk” population – guidance is 60 and over. How did that happen?!
And the worker at the nursing home in Washington state who died was in his 50’s. At 54 I certainly don’t consider myself exempt (none of us are).
Exactly. No guarantees in life.
Even 50 and over does in fact seem to be worse than 40 and over, for coronavirus at least.
My 83 year old mother in on spring break in Brussels, because seeing her grandson was a bigger draw than coronavirus was a drawback. I am knocking on every piece of wood available.
I know you are worried, but I see both sides. You still have to live your life. And as long as your mother isn’t ill or traveling to/from somewhere like Wuhan (or Seattle?), I would say there’s no guarantee that the folks wherever she lives are any less germy than the folks in Brussels.
We will also be traveling soon, and my risk tolerance is life must go on..
My 84 year old father and his 80 something y.o. girlfriend are going that way on a cruise in the next 2 weeks. And then flying from there to Israel for Passover. With the couple of cruise quarantines, I kinda wish he’d reconsider.
I understand how you feel. A good friend of mine who lives on our street, is going to Croatia in June. It’s her birthday, and she doesn’t see the problem. I will have to figure out a way to avoid her for 14 days after she returns, which will be hard. Don’t want to hurt her feelings, but c’mon, man.
We don’t live in the same city, but I’m more worried about him getting sick. His girlfriend just got over a bad respiratory infection.
I take public transportation every day with very crowded subways and loads of tourists!
Oh wow. I am not usually a big worrier about this sort of thing and I know they’ve got to make their own decision, but I would really want them to stay home too!
I have many memories associated with both scent and music.?
Age is a very interesting thing! I don’t think of myself as being the age I am and I think some of that has to do with mindset.
Eau Premiere is a special fragrance. Your scent association is perfect. I still remember the first time I sniffed a bottle of EP at a perfume counter. It made me stand still for a moment and let my mind wander, the smell was familiar and different, just perfect.
Can’t say I blame you for postponing travel. Gotta do what seems best at the moment. My parents, in their 70s, are already talking about postponing our annual spring break trip, just in case.
Eau Premiere really is one of those just perfect fragrances. Works well in any season and for any occasion. I feel the same about Eau des Merveilles.
madtowngirl – I have friends and family in Sarasota and Naples. It’s beautiful! PM me if you want suggestions/restaurants to hit up. 🙂
Thanks SmokeyToes! I bet it is beautiful! My parents winter in Port st Joe, so up from Sarasota. The beaches were so beautiful, I will miss that week of sun for sure, hopefully we’ll go again next year!
I love that and glad you have a warm association with it now.
☺️Thanks Elisa P.
I love Eau Premiere and especially love the story. I wore Vetiver Pour Elle during the week my mother passed. I only where it, now, in March (her birth and death month) to mark the occasion. Also, because my juice is waning!
I have the older (tall bottle) version of Eau Premiere, and have never tried the reformulated version. Wondering if they are very different?
What a lovely tribute to your mother.☺️
My decants were from the original formula. I haven’t worn the new, I have heard it is slightly different.
Ummagumma. Because I can. ✌?
And you should. 🙂
Wore this yesterday – yum.
go, Deva! 😀
In such a rush didn’t have time for poll!
1) Bengale Rouge
2) Hiris. It begins to annoy me at about the 4 hour mark. But the bottle! ?
3) the Dordongne region of France to explore the cave art. With my own private archeological. He’s manly, tall, smart, and crazy in love with this 55 year old broad!
I’m headed to the Dordogne in a couple of months, global pandemic permitting. No private archeologist though. My husband will have to do ?
So envious! Hope you have a great time exploring the area with the hubs!
Thank you Deva ?
…and has a twin brother.
Great spring break fantasy!
1. Not buying a thing because I’m doing a no-buy year.
2. I’m wearing Twilly today and thinking that it might need to be voted off the island. It never feels right and unlike some of my older rarely worn perfumes, I have no sentimental attachment (cute bottle doesn’t count.)
3. We went to Beaver Creek two years ago and I’d like to return. I’m thinking I would wear Ormonde Woman all week.
I only keep my Twilly for the cute bottle.
I have a mini just for the cuteness.
squeee! so cute. 😀
Twilly is a funny little thing. Sometimes I adore it, sometimes it goes raspy. I wonder if it depends on what other scents linger on my skin from the day before.
Funny. Twilly is easy peasy on me.
My mother absolutely loves Twilly! She’s saved every box and bottle she’s gone through (and it’s been at least 8!). Two Nagel fans in the family.
? I’ve barely had time to come up for air during the week and coming up for air meant getting some food in me. Anyway, I am just delaying when I log in again to get a few more things done.
The bad news – I really hate this spring forward business ?
The good news – I have to work from home on Monday to “test” working from home so that will lessen the impact of the lost hour. Like therabbitsflower, I actually prefer to work in the office.
I have scheduled a vacation next week (Tu to Fr) a while back and I am still going. I’ll be in Houston on a museum etc. trip and have a full itinerary. I know we have a number of Houston peeps and would have loved to meet but will not have time given early departures and late returns. My loss and will rectify next time.
Catch up Day of the Dude – I did not overthink as that would defeat the whole idea of dudeing (duding? doing the dude?) it ?
https://www.instagram.com/p/B9cBMFlhuX4/?igshid=1ummali8lh77w
Not voting any bottle off the island – yet. Just the thought is stressing me out.
Do I really need to add to my collection? ?. Why not? I have something Guerlain coming my way. Okay, on the notion that confession is good for the soul – a big sample of L’Heure Blanche. (I will split this if anyone is interested … haven’t figured out cost but it will be about 12% off list taking into account discounts, partially offset by sales tax).
I have been on a Guerlain bender all winter. Put me down for 5mls of L’Heure Blanche.
I would also like a dip into the blanche of possible. 3 to 5 mls?
Lol at “why not?”?!
IKR!
This sounds lovely. I would be in for 5 ml, 10 if possible.
We’ve been asked to work from home until April 3rd and then we’ll see. I totally prefer to work in the office. I do often work from home on Wednesdays which is just enough to give me time to focus on projects without as many interruptions and have a break from the commute, but now, UGH.
Have a great vacation. Hope you can visit Seattle sometime and have a meet-up. (Just NOT now.)
can’t stand the time change either, but I do prefer this one to the one in the autumn.
l’heure blanche! didn’t even know it existed until this moment. I need to take a day off from life and reconnect with my inner frag-o-phile.
take care while traveling, and enjoy! I’m so glad you’ll have time to enjoy life. 😀
I’m sad you won’t be able to linger in Houston! I’m always ready for a sniffa or two.
If you have 5 ml left, I’m absolutely interested.
Can you please contact me at cfreeland with four nines in the yahoo land? Nancy and I are meeting up for lunch this coming week.
Count me in on the split if possible please. 5-10 mls would be great!
If you still have spots, I’d like to get 5 ml. Not that I need any :)))
Oh, I agree with Coumarin, too bad we can’t all meet up! There are some good shows on now at the MFAH. Will you go to the Menil? I live right in that neighborhood, so you can think of me! I believe our weather is supposed to be nice next week, and the azaleas are blooming!
Warnings: forecast highs near 80 for this week! High humidity and lots of oak pollen. Sorry! But everything is super air conditioned so you need to layer your clothes.
1) I’d like to buy the DSH Colorado fragrance (which may not even be available any more) because of our 25 years living there although I’m in Seattle since summer 2017. It would be unsniffed though and I rarely do that.
2) Today I will wear a spritz of Theorema because it’s so perfect.
3) Let’s see, what to choose. So many places I’d love to go. Vail, Colorado for skiing or Tuscany for the gorgeous spring and food and sites or the Florida Keys for more and different beach and warm weather.
DSH Colorado is not available anymore – the second batch sold out within minutes and who knows if there is going to be a third batch. That said, do send me an email and I will be happy to share a decant (I have pixel’s bottle ?).
Wow – thanks. I didn’t know any of that. Do you like it?
Love! It’s piney, resinous, immortelle.
Theorema = perfect! You smell delicious. 🙂
Back to -8°C and I’m in Victorinox Snowflower finally because I didn’t have a minute free to put in on yesterday!
(1) Bruno Fazzolari’s Corpse Reviver. Still jonesing.
(2) My EldO Vierges et Toreros seems to be going massively menthol on me recently – maybe it’s just not the right fit for winter on my skin? But I want to smell like a sexy goat when I wear it, not arthritis linament!
(3) Coastal Croatia (Korcula has the BEST wine bar!) and maybe Floris Neroli Voyage – something orange blossom heavy!
-8°C!!!
Corpse Reviver, gosh, that fantastic name makes me wonder if they had the name in mind from the beginning, before the scent was constructed. 😉
I always wonder about that, and the scent profile, especially for houses like ELDO and CdG.
gosh, yes, especially ELDO, they have some odd things. 🙂
Apparently it’s a revision/reimagining of Cadavre Exquis, which was a perfume Bruno Fazzolari made with Antonio Gardoni as a thought experiment in 2016. That name is explained on Fragrantica as coming out of a surrealist game to create crowdsourced artistic content back in the 1920s.
The Corpse Reviver is also a (mostly out of style) cognac-based drink made as a hangover cure, hence the name. Its cousin the Corpse Reviver No. 2 (made with gin) is still popular, tho – one of my favorites!
Corpse Reviver the perfume does have a strong boozy head to it, so I think it may have been a fun way to riff on the name of the original perfume and have a nod to that whiskey note!
that’s fascinating, thank you, teebear! I like boozy scents, so now I’m even more interested in Corpse Reviver. 😉
I really liked Corpse Reviver sample (thanks to my dear generous friend pixel). It was funny – I tried the drink about a month ago and did not see anything in common between the two!!! The drink was awesome thou, and the fragrance was great as well – but it is somewhat close to Ummagamma so hard for me to justify a bottle – considering I am trying to de weed!!!
Your #2 is hysterical
Overcast and rain coming for the next few days. I’m going to wear Tonka Impériale.
1. Since I bought Ormaie L’Ivree Bleue, I now want all of them. 🙂 They are coming soon to First in Fragrance and I will wait for the next 20% off coupon. But that’s the only thing on my list for this year.
2. I have a half empty bottle of MPG Soir d’Orient (now called Ambre Doré) I want to pass on, it will be up on the swapmeet.
3. I’m headed out in the woods to go camping this summer, so no perfume other than bug repellent, but if I were going on a spring holiday it would be to Hawaii, where I always wear Kai and Monyette Paris.
Wow! Congrats on your new bottle. I was just writing about L’Ivree Bleue not long ago.
ooooh, never been to Hawaii, but those scents paint a pretty picture.
I’ve been summer camping in the woods (of Oregon) so I know those wonderful smells – bug spray, pine trees, lake water, and campfire smoke. 😀
1. I’m dithering about getting a back up of Dilettante after the PSA that it is getting disco’d. ?
I’m thinking I’ll wait for a sale at Etiket and if it is gone by then, it wasn’t meant to be.
2. I’d vote all my Guerlain’s off the island. I’d keep Shalimar but after buying several for the icon factor early in my perfumista days, I’ve realized they don’t work for me and I never wear them.
3. Spain! I’ve been fascinated by Spain since I was a little kid. My sister is there right now and the photos she’s sending make it look even more wonderful than I’d imagined.
I want to go to Spain too! I have only been to Barcelona, that’s it. I’d like to go to Italy too but have seen a bit more of Italy than I have of Spain.
Andalusia is so fantastic! The Alhambra was one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited!
Sold 😉
I will take all your Shalimar 😉
Terribly sorry, that’s the only one I like ?
You can take the rest…
You like the best one. I also love Angelique Noire, and I forget the full name but I have a sample of it somewhere..Tonka something..
Which Guerlains didn’t work for you?
Gosh, the ones I have are: l’Heure Bleue which I appreciate but never want to wear; Apres l’Ondee which is nice but I can barely smell it for a nanosecond; an AA that is so far back in my cupboard I don’t even remember what it is called; LPRN which I thought I’d wear for fun but don’t.
Tonka Imperiale?
Spain sounds marvelous right now. 😀
Does Etiket do perfume sales often? I’m on their mailing list and I still rarely see discount codes pretty rarely.
I wonder if it’s worth it to just stop in sometimes and see if there’s any sneaky sample bottles left for sale etc but they seem so fancy…
I don’t think they do them very often, I remember getting an email about one not that long ago but at that time didn’t want anything. Mind you, “not that long ago” might have been a year or so ago ?
No Dude-ing for me yesterday; I wore Prada Candy. I expected it to be quite strong since that what most of you have said about it, but it kind of faded into a nice pleasant sweet musk. Still nice, tho. Today I am going to wear my B&BW Plumeria body creme, one of my go-to comfort scents and perfect for this chilly, windy day.
1) EL’s Sensuous, if I was in the market for bottle-buying.
2) One of my cheapie body mists from Victoria’s Secret that I bought
waaaay back in the day. I still wear them, tho, silly me.
3) If I could, and no virus threat withstanding, I would go here:
http://www.thebeachhouse.co
Sorry don’t know how to make a link so just type on
Google/Yahoo to discover.
I don’t think I would bring any fragrance? Salt and sea air would
be enough for me.
Also, seconding everyone else re: the time change sh&t. Two very big thumbs down for me.
Oh hey, look, it did link! Sweet!
B&BW Plumeria body creme is a good fit with dude-ism, so you’re just a day late, plus being a day late seems a good fit with dude-ism.
Ooh, that place looks amazing!!!
all the thumbs down! I wish we could stop the clock nonsense.
Hello fragrant friends! I have been AWOL a while due to (1) slammed at work (2) away on vacation (3) back from vacation, slammed at work again, plus have a cold. Like hajusuuri, I am stalling on logging in to work right now. 23 weeks til retirement, it can’t come soon enough.
1. Perfumes have not been too much on my mind lately, so nothing jumps out. There are a few new-ish ones I want to sniff (EL Bronze Goddess Azur, that new Jo Malone Lavender & Wisteria) but nothing I’m itching to buy.
2. Well there must be something, but figuring out what would require thinking about it, and thinking is not happening right now, so, huh.
3. I’m just back from my spring break. We went to Belize and Guatemala for 10 days. The best day was the day we went to Tikal (Mayan ruins) in Guatemala. We got up at 3 am and hiked in in the dark to be there for sunrise. It was just magical listening to the jungle wake up — howler monkeys in the distance, and birds birds birds everywhere.
We re-watched the Big Lebowski last night… so fun! The Dude abides.
Sorry you are slammed AND sick, pixel! But 23 weeks, that’s wonderful news.
Oh lucky you — I want to go to Tikal! We did go to some of the less-visited sites in Yucatan but I have never been to Guatemala.
Thanks Robin! My condolences on the passing of your father. It sounds like he had a lovely life.
Thanks Pixel, he did.
I have heard only good things about Belize
Welcome back
I’m supposed to go there this July- so excited! Welcome back Pixel!
I wish I lived in a state that didn’t do daylight saving time! But alas, I will be setting my clock ahead tonight.
It’s been a while since I was on, but I was thinking about you all this morning. 🙂
1. I’d love a small bottle (even a small decant!) of Carta Moena.
2. First to go would be Blocki This Grand Affair. It’s lovely Shalimar-esque perfume for masquerade balls and fancy dinners, neither of which I have time for these days with 3 kids! I think I will be offering it up at the swapmeet if I remember on that day.
3. I’d spend a week in Salzburg for spring break, and I’d wear De Bachmakov by The Different Company. I don’t own it, but this time of year reminds me of it.
Happy Saturday to everyone!
I adore Salzburg, makes me feel happy to think of it. 🙂
We are not changing the clocks yet in Poland. I think that comes in 2 weeks here.
I’m in Memo Winter Palace, although I don’t think there will be any more winter here.
1. Amouage Love Mimosa would be nice for the spring.
2. Gabriella Chieffo Quasicielo, I just don’t wear it at all.
3. I’d like to go back to the Alps wearing Diptyque Eau Capitale maybe.
You’re smelling good!
Besides not liking the time change, different countries do it at different times which makes me have to look at each person’s time zone before calling or scheduling a meeting which always gets messed up anyway for 2-3 weeks.
By the way, for my birthday perfume I’m torn between
Parle Moi de Parfum Orris Tattoo
Ormaie L’Ivree Bleue
Diptyque Eau Capitale
Which one would you chose?
Eau Capitale is getting lots of love around the perfume world. 🙂 But do what your heart wants.
My vote for Orris Tattoo!
I have to try Eau Capitale again! From my previous (first) try I just can’t see what others might like (or dislike, to that matter) about this perfume.
L’Ivrée Bleue was my choice.
I remembered you liking the Amouage and so I ordered a decant from Luckyscent in my most recent purchase. It’s just beautiful and yes, very spring-y! How would you compare it to Mimosa et Moi?
I spent the morning cleaning my bathroom. It was getting a little gross and after my shower, I will do some vacuuming. SOTM is Chanel no 22 extrait. I will switch to something else after my shower and vacuuming.
1. Spent my budget on Coco Mademoiselle and Estee Lauder Pleasures. If I had the means, I would like to buy Coromandel.
2. I would go with either Theorema or Chanel Sycomore.
3. If I were to go on vacation, it would be either Scotland or Iceland. I would probably pack De Profundis, I don’t know why.
ha! I did bathroom and kitchen duty this morning. I don’t mind so much when I think how much I prefer clean to grungy. 😀
Isn’t Pleasures amazing? I think it’s iconic. A friend wears it as her signature, somehow her body chemistry makes it smell beautifully alive.
I haven’t worn Pleasures in forever but got a one ounce bottle for a song. I wore it in high school but wearing Jubilation 25 today.
I used to wear Pleasures in high school too. ?
Chanel No. 22 extrait is just exquisite. I love De Profundis, too, and it sounds like a perfect accompaniment for the briskness of Scotland or Iceland!
I would love but am trying to restrain myself from buying Maria Candida Gentile’s Gift Collection which is 15 ml bottles of all of her 14-scent collection. I haven’t even smelled all of them yet but love all of her works I have sampled. It would be spendy for my budget but oh so much fun to play with! We’ll see what happens. I would have to vote Winter In Berlin off the island. I wanted to like it, I like the name and would like to see Berlin in the winter. All I could think of was a very strong grapefruit smell on my skin which doesn’t strike me as Berlin at all.
You just created a lemming … and it looks like you’re new or at least posting new under this name – Welcome!
Same to both, and I did not know this existed.
Here it is:
https://www.mariacandidagentile.com/en/product/eau-de-parfum-gift-box/
That’s about $445
I would only want the Exultat..in 8-10 mls. Picky, lol.
I want 5 or 6 of them. There is probably a way for us to do a perfect split.
I can’t reply to your comment below, but I have the 15ml bottles of Lady Day and Leuco to unload. Are either of those on your wishlist?
therabbitsflower, I can’t tell if you meant to ask me or someone else, but I would buy your Lady Day! (I don’t think I ever tried Leuco)
Robin, yes I was asking you! Email me when you have a chance – my NST username at gmail.
Just did!
What is a lemming?
Lemming is a wishlist item
And see also:
https://nstperfume.com/2008/04/25/a-perfumista-lexicon/
Maria Candida Gentile makes so many high quality unique scents. I love Sideris!
Sideris is great. Also love Hanbury, and Lankaran Forest, and Elephant & Roses.
Spring time change, ugh! But this might be the penultimate year Oregon has one. Both California and Washington have voted not to change anymore, and it’s on the ballot here in November. I am unscented so far but planning on Desarmant.
1. I already bought it–Lillyjo mentioned Ginger Piccante was back on Fragrancenet, and I snagged the last bottle. It’s on the way.
2. Oh, I have a few to get off the island–Habanita, Bronze Goddess, Brin de Reglisse–because either my tastes have changed or I’ve found other scents I like better in their category.
3. I am going to India in 12 days on a tiger safari. Not wearing any scent other than mosquito repellent and sunscreen.
I’m glad you got the ginger picante. I check Guerlain every day because I’m waiting to see the orange Shalimar Souffle, lol!
I’ve been checking and checking again for the Soufflé d’Oranger, too! I’ve been lemming for it since it was released.
Let me know if you see it anywhere.
Will do!
AH! So you are the reason GP is sold out on fragrancenet
How old is the bottle of your Bronze Goddess? I might be interested in buying it from you.
2008? It was the first release. You can reach me at my username plus a oh ell dot com.
Not much on the lemming list and interested mainly in smaller decants, not FBs. What did I just say? Lol.
Lost Cherry, still on the list, sigh. Come on TF, do ten mls of this one.
Black Vines, sigh only want 10 mls. My holy grail licorice.
Chanel Paris Riviera..cause I cannot resist a nice orange blossom
Tresor cause I fell in love again
Labdanum 18, I purchased a sample from Le Labo but the sprayer broke, such a tease.
Heure d’ Nuit..but dream on..lol. Guerlain is so dang cheap with their samples too.
Fantasy Spring Break..Wales cause I never been..and when I am there, I would meet a handsome Christian Bale lookin Welsh dude that says I smell wonderful in my fantasy Guelrain L Heure d’Nuit..sigh why can’t have it all? LOL.
I love Wales and have been there numerous times. Gorgeous coastlines and mountains. However I think their spring weather leaves a bit to be desired, alas.
If you take off the sprayer and take out the spring from the LL samples, you can shake out the contents. Happened to me with their samples too many times, grrr.
Also with you on the Paris Riviera.
Thanks, will try it:)
Hey Omega, we may just be scent and country twins!
L’Heure d’Nuit, Labdanum 18, and Riveria are 3 of my favorites right now.
When I was a kid I longed to go to the UK and Ireland. I worked after school and finally, at 17, I made it over there. Spending time in Wales changed my life. It’s one of the most unusual, beautiful, fascinating countries I’ve ever spent time in. My moniker is named after the Welsh cottage in Snowdonia, Bron-Yr-Aur, where Led Zeppelin wrote their third “acoustic” album. It was sort of a pilgrimage for me to go to the cottage (and find the remaining members of the band…another story!)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bron-Yr-Aur
I go back as often as I can, still, 39 years later!
Great story and it’s cool to hear the origin of your NST name!
Thanks therabbitsflower!
Very cool:). I have family from Wales, so I guess I am just curious about heritage. When I saw some fam eat blood sausage for breakfast, I was appalled lol. I was like where is the Lucky Charms, you know, like cereal? “Oh we don’t eat that, we have porridge” “what?!” Lol.
Lol. Porridge and Welsh rarebit!
1. A full bottle of either CdG Kyoto or YSL Caban. However, I am in a serious no-buy this year and so far I have been successful. Let’s see for how long.
2. A full bottle of Houbigant Quelques Fleurs L’Original that doesn’t get much love from me, so it needs to be rehomed.
3. You all must be tired of reading this from me, but I will keep repeating it until it becomes a reality some day: Greece, especially Santorini. Right now I would like to go to any place nearby and relax just for a couple of days.
Have a happy and healthy weekend, everyone!
Good job on your no-buy!
?
Yeah, please tell us in upcoming Donatella posts how it’s going 😉
I will! ?
I nearly bought the Kyoto tester at Twisted Lily today. Couldn’t tell how much was left in it and decided the 2 CdG incenses I have were enough. Plus, I didn’t think it was such a great deal (maybe it was $60?). But I thought of you!
It would be a good price if the bottle was full. But for a tester that that we don’t know how much is left is not a good deal. Maybe the prices will keep going down?
I doubt it. The stuff is flying off the shelves. Someone in line in front of me had 10 bottles they were buying ?
Posting after a long absence
1. On To buy list: Eris Mxxx, Dusita La Pavilion d’Or. also looking forward to the new release from Shawn Maher. And a couple of creations from Mathew Meleg (his honey and deer musk is truly impressive).
2. Off the island: too many to list. I have been actively weeding and still have the ways to go. According to basenotes math I have way too much, so need to downsize!!
3. Places to visit – I really want to visit Japan for cherry blossom, but for now it is not feasible.
I was thinking about Mxxx this morning. I sampled and enjoyed it. It’s on my wishlist too.
We click again! Cherry blossom time is on my travel wishlist also! 😀
welcome back!
Jumping up and down and waving!
Waiving back at you dear friend
Nice to see you Clarissa!
I have a few on my list of definite purchases. I was planning on buying something from the list to celebrate my new job, but I started six weeks ago, and I still haven’t decided what to get. One possibility is Fatih Sultan Mehmet from Fort and Manle. Thinking about it is half the fun, so I’m enjoying my indecision.
I have a few bottles that I wouldn’t replace, but nothing I want to actually get rid of. This is probably related to the length of time I take to decide what I want 🙂
This time last year I was in Paris, and I’m hoping to be back again this time next year!
Faith Sultan Mehmet is very nice. I have a sample that I treasure
Crazy week at work, making sure we are Covid-19 prepared! One confirmed case in Durban, which is luckily 6 hours drivetime from me.
I have not had ANY flu or colds for the past 13 years, and I intend to keep it that way!
Mentally, doing good!Work is awesome to keep your mind off of feeling depressed…no time for that in the current madness!Lol!
Definitely wore perfume this week,but what exactly I grabbed,and when,is a blur!Today I am in No.5,because I can…haha!
The poll:
1.)Nothing on my radar at the moment that is a serious lemming, but I would love to smell the new L’Heure Blanche, and the new-ish ginger one!
2.)Marni Rose…sorry babe,I’m just not that into you…haha!
3.)Anywhere but here! But I have been researching a hiking holiday in Spain which a friend of mine recently did,and also the Reunion Islands are really fascinating me ever since another friend went there!
Happy Weekend Kids!
Stay safe and healthy out there!
XO
Your #2 ?
Have a great weekend!
Stay safe and healthy, my friend! Enjoy your weekend! You smell wonderful! ????
Glad you are busy and keeping the blues away..
You smell like an icon.
Baci
New? I’m curious about the new Hermes perfume, but not rushing to get anything.
Off the island – either Jour d’Hermes or my Beige EDT. Both are gorgeous, but neither feel like me. I’m just not that fancy.
Spring break? I would love to go to a spa resort in Arizona and do yoga and wander in the desert gardens looking at cacti. I would take Oliver Peoples.
Same here with Beige! It is beautiful, but my full bottle of the EdT doesn’t get any love, because it is not me. I think I will have to vote off the island soon.
I love Jour but only wear it on sunny days in spring. She’s a bit of a diva for sure. 😀
I sampled the new Hermès today – L’Ombre des Merveilles. It wasn’t something I expected to like and that was confirmed very quickly when I sprayed it both on a card and my wrist. It’s been about 3 hours now and it’s pretty much gone on my skin but it is going strong on paper! I don’t detect any tea or incense at all and it doesn’t really feel like it fits in the Eau Des Merveilles family. There’s a tiny hint of the original. I find there is that unpleasant, sharp bitterness also found in the dry down of Jardin Sur la Lagune, and Eau de Citron Noir. I keep getting wafts from the sample card sitting on the table… creamy, perfume-y soap… some Camay scent from the past? Yeah, I’d say so. I think the name is a bit too similar to L’Ambre des Merveilles which could cause confusion – for instance, someone asks for one of the two as a gift and receives the one they didn’t ask for! Anyway, I’m sure some people will like it. For me it just further enforces how much I miss JCE! I’m tossing out the card now… ?
A spa resort doing yoga in Arizona sounds perfect!
My Beige edt is dwindling, alas. I’d love to take it off your hands if you plan to let it go!
1. I would like to get one of the CdG incense series
2. Armani Prive Rose d’Arabie, I will list it in the coming swapmeet
3. Venice, I would bring my Krizia perfumes: K, Krazy Krizia and Teatro alla Scala
Today I wore Jil Sander Sun at the library, my scarves are scented with this discreet and unusual scent, undecided for this evening, perhaps a Guerlain.
I want Avignon so bad! 😀
🙂 I think that’s the one I want too but I still haven’t smelled Ouarzazate and Jaisalmer.
They are all great, but Avignon and Kyoto are the best imho.
I like Kyoto too, but Avignon beats it by a bit for me. 😀
Avignon seems to be the winner. I’ll have to wait for a deal though (sigh).
same here, I’ve not smelled those two. I don’t think so anyway, I guess I better go rummage through the samples. 😉
🙂 hope you find the ones you’re looking for.
I actually liked Jalaismer the best and Kyoto second best
Good to know.
Would you like a sniff of Jaisalmer? I could send you some.
Thank you so much, but I live in London UK, so not practical.
Venice would be nice as a spring break..
Exactly, and you could practice your Italian in situ.
Yes, that would be my dream!
Went to a sewing fabring market today and wore Coriandre. We had a nice lunch a a typical svabian restaurant. Now some sprays of MKK, briad bean frittata and a good spanish white wine for dinner.
1… I am thinking of buying a bottle of MM Untitled L Eau for summer, as i used up a full decant of it last summer.
2… I could let go vintage Ma Griffe, CKOne summer 2017 .
3.. I would like to visit the Shetland Isles or go to Japan again.
Oh, I would love to go to the Shetland Islands!
Ciao Amici-
We brought the kids to the New York International Children’s Film Festival, and saw a film downtown. We all went to a cute French cafe afterwards and everyone ate crepes. I also got a spiced rum drink with steamed milk and honey. Perfect for these cold, but sunny day. Kids enjoyed the film and I was happy to get out and about..
1. L’Heure Blanche, as Johanob mentioned above.
2. I am thinking about the upcoming swap meet and I have some perfumes that don’t get a lot of love. Too many to list now.
3. The island of Mauritius, I would bring Songes
Spiced rum with steamed milk and honey? I’m drooling. That sounds so good.
Ooo! It was
2nd that. another reason to buy a frother.
I’m still on vacation and only brought a few little decants with me, so SOTD is Kyoto (but wishing I’d brought Escale a Portofino or Mediterraneo). My poll answers:
1. Chanel Eau de Cologne. I brought the dregs of a decant with me and it’s really very versatile and lovely. Or possibly Paris-Deauville, which I haven’t sniffed yet but which sounds wonderful. Has anyone compared it to Azemour, and is it at all similar?
2. Several unloved bottles are vying in my mind for first place. Probably Miller Harris Etui Noir will win – bought it unsniffed based on notes, and it just doesn’t work on me.
3. Well, I’m kind of on spring break now … but if I were planning a dream vacation, I’d like to visit Corfu and stay somewhere opulent yet remote. Near a quiet little cove for swimming. With a butler to bring me iced drinks. And I would bring Cristalle EDT and Mediterraneo.
I love your 1 and 2. Chanel Eau de Cologne has been on my wish list forevvvvver. It’s perfect. And I’ve never been to Greece, would so love to see that part of the world, and live like the Durrells in Corfu. 😉
SotD = Eau des Merveilles, because I’m predictable like that. 😉
add: Avignon, because I don’t have a FB of a great incense.
off: nothing, because I’m so out of touch with what I have in my perfume cupboard. I need to take stock.
go: um, how about I go to Avignon while wearing Avignon? I miss France. Would like to sing Sur Le Pont d’Avignon while dancing on Le Pont d’Avignon!
Now I must stop procrastinating and get in the car and drive to the bank. It closes at 3 pm! 😉
Love all your Avignon choices! ?
merci beaucoup! xoxo 😉
Le Pont d’Avignon was a let down for my kids and me, but we got out of the car and danced anyway.
ha! glad you danced on the bridge anyway. I guess one would have to really love bridges to get excited about it. 😉
I just came back from the tester sale at Twisted Lily. So sad to see them go ? They were always so lovely and I enjoyed their special events. Most of my in-person purchases are from there.
The sale itself was a bit overwhelming as they kept pulling out boxes of new stuff. Some of it old and d/c (CdG Carnation and one of the Holygrapie ones ?).
I bought one Boy Smells candle and the Nicolai Bois de Santal candle for a friend who told me to get him a “not-too-flowery” candle. It’s nice. Too bad they only had one.
Perfume-wise I got a 2/3 full bottle of Stora Skuggan Mauls de Fantome which I’ve sniffed many times before and really like (it’s a green perfume). There were other temptations but I pulled out of there quickly.
1) Perris Monte Carlo Mandarino di Sicilia
2) Many bottles, actually. Will have to really go through them and cull the herd.
3) I’d love to go to Italy. I’d bring some Cap Neroli or Eau de Magnolia or anything else citrusy (or my new fantasy Perris MC bottle). More likely we will go to Sunset Beach North Carolina and stay (for free!) in the condo my BIL just bought.
I’m sad to see them go, too. It was on my list of things to see in NYC for the trip we didn’t get to finish.
I did get a small bottle of Cap Neroli on a good deal from them. I was inspired by your mentions of it and bought it blind: a lucky success! I’m wearing it today in fact.
Yeah, I talked to the owner for a bit, and he said it’s a lifestyle decision, not an economic one. He does a lot of the work himself and he would have to sign a 5 year lease at the end of the month. He said he’s not enjoying running a business anymore, which I can imagine all the headache that goes with that.
Sad, they’re one of the few shops that actually has sales/discounts on a regular.
Anyway, you smell great in Cap Neroli! I love the Nicolas Nerolis. (I refrained from buying the 100ml testers, however).
Hah! I considered going there today…would have been fun to run into you! Was really mostly interested in tester of Kiss Me Intense if they had it. It it worth going? Makes me very sad they are closing.
I didn’t see a KMI, but they had a bunch of other Nicolais. The stuff was going fast, though. That bottle of CdG Carnation was put on the shelf and gone buy the time I left (about 10 min later). I think they still have boxes of stuff to put out so might be different stuff tomorrow. Their last day is Tues.
wow, lucky you! I would have a hard time passing up a Stora Skuggan bottle, they’re off the charts cool. 😉
They do have cool caps!
It is very sad about Twisted Lily. I’ve ordered from them so many times and always had great customer service. I would have loved to be there for the last weekend to try and snag that tester of CdG Holygraphie! Holygrace was my souvenir perfume when I visited Seattle in 2011 before I moved here. I had a hard time choosing between those perfumes.
A couple weekends ago I did manage to snag the last PdN Maharadjah candle they had plus a couple Boy Smells candles, Philia and Cameo. I had actually ordered two additional candles but by the time they were preparing my order they’d sold the other two. Oh, well. I’m certainly not wanting for candles at the moment.
Congrats on your Stora Skuggen perfume. I’ve still not smelled any from the line and not sure any other US store carries them? Can’t recall if Luckyscent does.
Now you’ve got PMC Mandarino on my radar. I just sampled their Arcania last night, and while it’s nice, it’s not something I’ll likely need to add to my collection.
I don’t think they have the Stora Skuggans at LS. I was hoping for Moonmilk also but nowhere to be found. I should’ve done a live stream for y’all, especially when I saw the couple of HTC CdGs…
I haven’t tried the Arancia. Someone sent me a small decant of the Mandarino to try in a swap package and I love it. I suppose if you have other oranges, it may be redundant. I didn’t really have any in my collection, though.
I really hoped my business trip gets canceled. Nope. I’m still going. Tomorrow. In addition to 2 hours time difference already, I’ll have a “pleasure” of the time change (why do they keep doing that?!!).
I need to pack and to figure out which perfumes to take for the 4-day Trade Show trip. So, I’ll skip dreaming about a vacation-type trip for now.
I don’t need any perfume now but still considering Amouage Love Mimosa. Probably I’ll split it.
I don’t think I’m ready to lose any of my perfumes yet – so, no voting this time.
Everyone, in any age group – please stay safe and exercise caution.
Oh man, many business events are being being cancelled so very surprised that your trade show was not. Stay safe!
That’s very irresponsible considering the situation. Stay safe and healthy!
Ugh, sorry Undina! Stay healthy.
It was horrible out this morning, rain and wind in SF. I’ve been sick all week – slept for three days straight; but ventured out to get SmokeyToes more of his prescription food and ingredients for congee, I like chicken in mine.
1) I purchased a bottle of Bill Blass Nude for 42 cents. If the reformulation is awful, at least I have a nice room spray.
2) I gave away a huge bottle of Amarige to my spin instructor. It reminds me of a long lost love and I no longer get joy out of it so off it went!
3) For Spring break, I want to go to Corfu or St. Barts – thinking Patou’s Eau de Patou or Cristalle EDT (the vintage) would be ever so chic.
Sorry you have been sick
Sorry SmokeyToes, hope you are better soon!
Thanks! The good news I almost feel like I’ve done 1000 sit ups from all the coughing… 😯
An awful cough is the best ab workout ever!!! It’s like a really dreadful silver lining ? hope you’re done soon and get to choose your future workouts!
I hope the cough passes quickly, SmokeyToes!
I’m in Bengale Rouge today. The early morning sky was clear, but it’s cloudy now and 50 degrees. BR is so nice on days like this. Shouldn’t complain, it will be oppressively hot soon enough.
1. Chanel La Pausa. I’ve drive by spritzed this thing several times at NM, and it’s so beautiful. Either that or Musc Rav body oil.
2. I Profumi di Firenze Spezie de Medici. I keep trying to convince myself otherwise, but it’s just a little too spicy.
3. As always, spring break in Kauai would be just perfect. I don’t think I’d bring a fragrance. All you really need there is a bag of bathing suits, flip flops, shorts and T-shirts. ?
Oh no, too bad about Spezie! I love that one but had a very bad allergic reaction to it, otherwise I’d be eager to swap.
I know! I was a little too hasty on that sniffa. ?
It’s not bad layered under Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere, however!
I’m in just a couple of spritzes of Winter Woods today. Can easily overwhelm. That being said, I think my homemade hand sanitizer is winning out, scent-wise. (Alcohol and aloe vera gel)
Nothing on my list, except that Chanel No. 19 is always there. Someday I’ll get around to buying it. But I’m on a pause for buying (except maybe a special decant on occasion….Bengale Rouge was in that category.) My rabbit hole today was a trip downtown to check out some yarn. Yep…couldn’t resist. Bought a wool, alpaca, linen blend for a hat for my bro-in-law and a bamboo rayon pale green yarn to do something with for my sister.
I’m always in the verge of voting Infusion d’Iris off.
No spring trips planned. Giving our old lady kitty her thyroid meds has us staying close to home except for quick overnights. I do have a hankering to go to Portugal. And bring along my Fiori di Capri. I am, though, looking at flights to L.A. to see my sister because I’m seeing some deals….husband would have kitty duty,
yay for yarn! I’m mulling over color choices for a new cardigan I want to knit for myself. 😉
I have always wanted to learn how to knit. It seems like a meditative hobby
I’m not terribly proficient, but it’s definitely a whole new rabbit hole…
yes! knitting can be meditative. It’s wonderfu.l ❤️?
I keep seeing these ads on IG for crocheted Snoopy, Woodstock and some Hello Kitty characters…probably because I’ve posted pics of Billy Bob 2.0, a crocheted kitty customized for me. If you haven’t seen him —

I just bought a new perfume bottle that I’m really enjoying (How You Love by Jazmin Sarai) but if I had to get another wish list item it would be Brooklyn by Gallivant. Like the Sarai it has a bright cardamom opening which I’m a sucker for.
The perfume I would vote off is maybe Cuir de Russie or Atelier Cologne’s Ambre Nue.
I just got back from a Florida spring break but if I had my way I would be visiting Mexico. Or Peru! We had really good Peruvian food in Florida.
In other news, I have fallen down a scalp health rabbit hole. Just bought me some oils, electric scalp massager and a microwavable heat cap for deep conditioning. I really need to take better care of my hair. If you have a skin, hair and nail vitamin combo you like do share
Mmm that reminds me that a Peruvian restaurant opened near my work a couple months ago, and I still need to try it. I’ve loved the two times I’ve eaten Peruvian chicken.
My boyfriend and I spent most of the day cleaning and doing laundry. Now I’m enjoying some relaxation and feeling good about the productivity. I just sprayed a couple new samples on each arm. I’ve got Perris Monte Carlo Arcania di Sicilia on one and Jul et Mad Stairway to Heaven on the other. They’re both quite nice, but Stairway to Heaven is winning so far. I didn’t put on any perfume this morning because I could still smell remnants of last night’s Florentina.
1. I’ve already prepared for spring with full bottle purchases of Diletantte and CdG Luxe Champaca EDT. Since Diletantte is being discontinued, I had to buy a bottle even though I have a travel spray and a decant already. It is my absolute favorite orange blossom perfume. The deal I got on eBay for the Champaca was too good to pass up.
2. I have a large bottle of Organza that my boyfriend’s mom gave me that I never wear.
3. I still need to visit Hawaii, and I’d wear Eau de Soleil Blanc and Bronze Goddess.
Lots of cleaning and laundry here too, but did fit in a sauna & some (minor) weight lifting, so I am likewise feeling virtuous even though I’m lounging with my feet up 🙂
Hi there,
I’m in Apres L’Ondee again today. I heard it was being discontinued (or production temporarily halted) and that news made me go dig it out of my closet. I usually generously spray my scarf or clothing with it because it lasts 5 minutes on skin.
1. Antonia by Puredistance, which would take up 6 months worth of perfume budget, but my decant is dwindling and I’m not sure I can do without it.
2. Bengale Rouge. I bought a partial bottle after I smelled it on another frag-head. It was so beautiful, but on my skin, I can only smell cinnamon.
3. Like Perfumelover67 I want to go to Santorini, and would take my new bottle of Puredistance Antonia with me.
Stay well, all!
How about the travel spray instead? 17.5mL is still a good amount.
Yes, that’s what I plan on. I made 10mls last a couple of years, so 17.5 will seem like a vat of it!
Kind of late posting tonight. I’m dealing with stress of my IRS audit, kitty cancer, Mom having a health problem, and the novel Coronavirus anxiety. Today I wore How You Love, courtesy of a recent impromptu split with Yasmina. Mmmm, nice!
Now, answers to the questions:
1. For spring I want St Clair Scents First Cut.
2. I have several things to dispense to others because I know they’ll be more appreciated, including Black Cashmere.
3. I would love to go to Cancun. The beaches are so gorgeous and it’s fun to shop around there. I love the impossibly turquoise waters of the Caribbean. Perfume, hmm. I think an Ormond Jayne floral like Sampaquita.
Calypso, I sincerely hope you will catch a break soon. If I could, I would send you to Cancun.
Ditto this!
Thank you!
Yikes, that’s a lot all at once. Hope you hit calmer waters soon.
Oy vey! I also got the package so will try it out later, hopefully! I hope your week goes better!
Glad it arrived safely! Report back!
I’m so glad you are liking it and sorry for all your stress
Thank you. Perfume does help!
So since I felt sorry for myself I went ahead and ordered the travel size of First Cut!
I’m sorry so many difficulties have ganged up on you all at once. I hope the week gives you at least a little good news. ?
SOTD Today I think qualifies as a unicorn for last week’s Friday Challenge as well…Paco Rabanne Mētal.Sexy summery green perfume. It does have a metallic sheen to it when you smell it,almost like a fake metalwire tree…Good stuff.
Hope everyone is still safe and feeling well!
Second case of Corona identified in South Africa, this time a bit closer to home.Tomorrow is going to be interesting at work…lol.
I scored:Nestlè Aero HUMONGOUS slabs of chocolate(my favorite) were on special at the local grocer(off from ZAR35 to ZAR19…bargain!!)Of course I went a bit overboard…lifetime supply of Aero Peppermint, anyone?LOL
As you can tell, mentally I feel much better. The healthscare with Covid puts things a bit into perspective, doesn’t it?
Yes.
Love you guys.
XO
Humongous slabs of chocolate?! Yes please!
Say I as well!!??
Please, send some of that chocolate here! Glad to hear you are feeling better! Cheers my friend! ??????
Happy Sunday M!
???
Happy to hear you’re feeling better!
I don’t know how covid-19 is being managed in SA, but here in the US the lack of leadership is appalling. If you want a bit of perspective, look at south Korea’s numbers. They are testing THOUDANDS and and consequently, the death percentage has dropped to around .19 last I heard.
That’s good news about Korea! And it saddens me to hear your local attitude.Back home, the minute we heard of a POSSIBLE case(before he tested positive),the state gave a briefing, isolation hospitals were announced, and everyone started to prep their hospitals.I’m part of the IPC task team anyway,so my involvement in securing enough PPE etc was a no-brainer.We’re approaching Fall and flu-season,so we really are on high alert. One of our surgeons returned from Italy today, and is under self-imposed quarantine for at least the next two weeks.I think for once we are ready to prevent, rather than to manage, like with other serious health scares in the past.
Glad your cold is better Deva!
✌?✌?
I suppose rate of change in reported infection may be another indicator but so many of these metrics tend to become watered down as the denominator goes up.
We just came back from Guatemala, where they were scanning every traveler for fever. Every. Single. One. I was nervous that hubby & I might get trapped there for quarantine, since we both have colds, but we passed the fever test, phew.
Then when we landed in the US… nothing. No checks at all. Very odd.
My brother is in Guatemala now for a weeklong mission (surgery) to the indigent and underserved population. I’m kinda worried. Also, he and my SIL are scheduled to come to NY/NJ in April. I may ask them to social distance. Have to see how things go…
Exactly. The US is not monitoring anyone. Because there aren’t enough test kits, and the ones available are not as accurate as the test kits used in other parts of the world and were initially faulty. And because the leadership in this country is an absolute joke. I called work Wednesday to see what their protocol was since I have classic head cold symptoms and was scheduled to work the next day. I was told by the STAFF OFFICE TECH that “as far as I know, unless you have a fever you have to come to work.” This is a non-medical person who is determining this! So in I go to work, taking care of a sick and vulnerable population while potentially transmitting a novel virus!! The lack of any type of protective protocol nationwide is absolutely appalling. Let’s not even talk about the fact people are testing positive and have NO FEVER or other symptoms. Ugh! I’m glad you didn’t get trapped, but really, the way the US is handling this is A. Complete. Joke.
I totally agree with you.Health care workers are not being given adequate protection/resources to care for patients. What is going to happen when huge numbers of health care workers are quarantined because they test positive ill or not(if they can get tested!)at the same time there is an increase in people hospitalized with this?
Wearing Lollia Breathe today.
This is just terrible! I’m so worried about my mother and everyone else in senior housing, and about all of their staff people. I have nightmares and panic attacks about it. Just hearing about the deaths in the Seattle facility scares me to death.
That number is way more encouraging than what I’ve been hearing, thank you for sharing it!
Glad you’re on the up and up! So FWIW, I wonder if the climate has anything to do with the spread? We’re seeing a lot fewer cases in the Southern Hemisphere now. Stay safe.
Thanks H!I think you will most probably see the southern hemisphere figures rise as the north slows down somewhat.Allergy season North and Flu season down here…does not bode well for covid-19 to die down soon, but let’s see!
I’m worried for you guys who regularly use public transport!
Be safe out there!
XO
Glad you are feeling better!
My hospital has sent me 5! text alerts today about our employee/patient/visitor screening protocol.
I can imagine there to be a bit of overkill and panic!
I just spoke to my friend Matthew who lives in Manhattan, heard about NY state’s state of emergency.
Be safe out there fellow Nurses!
This, during THE YEAR OF THE NURSE!
XO
1. I’m always looking to buy something. Right now, I want something for summer, Terracotta, Orchid Soliel or vanilla vibes. If I can get one cheap enough.
2. Oud Bouquet would be voted off, it’s just too heavy for me.
3. As usual, I just want to stay home. I would love a week at home where I actually tackle my basement and get rid of all the odd things I’ve been holding on to all these years.
Commando right now, but yesterday, I wore La Danza Delle libellule and the cashier told me I smelled amazing! She asked what it was and I said I would tell you, but I can’t pronounce it, lol.
Haha!Me and the couple of perfumistas at work always make fun of the fact that we can’t pronounce the french names properly…Anais Anais is a hoot always,I only recently discovered its NOT pronounced like anise….???
How is it pronounced? I always say it like Ahna Niece, but really, I don’t know.
You say it way better than I used to!Lol!Apparently it is Ana-his Ana-his…

Aha! Thanks!
Forgot about the time change and now it is later than I thought. Hrrrrmph! ?

So, for what it’s worth, I had a delay in logging in to work and I suspect it was because my anti-virus software was not up-to-date (it actually expired on March 3rd) but, after installing it, I still had problems, logged in a ticket, waited 20 minutes (tech is swamped with all the WFH being tested and implemented in waves), tried again and voila, I got in. I’ll be logging in again later.
FWIW, I don’t understand why my boss refuses to cancel my vacation. I’m sure it’s not about the money but I suspect it has to do with his own later in the month (if he cancels mine, he pretty much needs to cancel his).
Great picture! I missed the answer to what the wood is for the pictures. It looks like a headboard to me?
It’s the top part of the banister…perfect for taking pictures of my bottles but I have to be veddy veddy careful.
Oh my gosh, yes, be careful!
PdN Vetyver for me today. I don’t like springing forward. I much prefer falling back.
My cold is clearing up slowly, so I guess I’m going to live. ?
Good! ?
Glad you’re feeling better, and I agree re: falling back.
It’s snowing AGAIN this morning (as it did yesterday morning). I didn’t believe the weather forecast earlier in the week, simply because I put away my winter boots since I thought I was finished with winter.
Like others, yesterday was spent deep cleaning the bathrooms. Good way to spend a snowy day. My hubby made some jambalaya so that was a good trade off for me.
1. What’s the fragrance you’d most like to add to your collection this spring? Possibly Montale Crystal Rose due to a lemming created by johanob and lillyjo!
2. You have to vote one perfume in your collection off the island. Which one will go first, and why? It might have to be Ostara; I have tried it several times and it’s almost too sweet for me, plus I get a dirty vase water note somewhere in there.
3. It’s time for (fantasy) Spring Break! Where are you going, and pick ONE fragrance to bring with you. Would love to go back to the Dominican Republic; I’d take Chanel Paris-Riviera.
Well you cannot go wrong with Crystal Flowers,in my honest opinion!
Let me know if you get to smell it!
Finally got around to answering your email, last night!
Happy Sunday!

Ostara turns to swamp water on me.
I’m sorry you have snow. I’m expecting some this week too.
I guess winter isn’t quite done with us! Sorry it’s finding you too.
Back at it again. Not cleaning today, just relaxing. I am lounging around in Coromandel and about to take a shower. Had a raccoon in my garbage can last night. My parents couldn’t figure out how he got in. Well, if you look at where the garbage can is kept and where the air conditioning unit is, that is how he got in. Since the can is almost full so all I needed to do is open the lid all the way and he climbed out on his own. About to take a shower and get the day rolling probably in Shalimar Ode a la Vanille or vintage BaV.
Hope he had fun in there 😉
1. What’s the fragrance you’d most like to add to your collection this spring?
I can’t decide. My budget says a Demeter fragrance. LOL
2. You have to vote one perfume in your collection off the island. Which one will go first, and why?
Got another sample of Angel when I got the Chanel No. 5 EdT. Had I noticed the sales assistant putting in samples, I would have asked for something that wasn’t Angel. Off the island.
3. It’s time for (fantasy) Spring Break! Where are you going, and pick ONE fragrance to bring with you.
Gulf coast of Florida, though I would have preferred to go in February if health (and finances) had permitted. Something cheery that won’t attract bees.
Scent of the morning: I realized that I didn’t know what perfume a dark glass bottle that looks like a Christmas ornament had in it. We’ve had that bottle in a breakfront with glass doors for a long time, but that section of the breakfront doesn’t get much sunlight. The perfume turned out to be Avon Sweet Honesty cologne, and it still smells nice. We must have had that for a long, long time.
Fragrant flowers outside: It was cold and nasty out on Friday and cold on Saturday, but some of the early spring flowers are starting to bloom anyway. Saturday I brought a few little flowers in the house to enjoy. I snipped a small twig that had an open flower off of the winter honeysuckle. I cut a bit off the flower spike of the sweetly-scented mahonia flowers. The common name for the plant is “Oregon grape holly.” “Holly” refers to the sharp-edged leaves, and “grape” to the dark fruits it produces from pollinated flowers in a few months.
I’m not especially catching a scent, but I also cut the first flower from a clump of ‘Tete-a-Tete’ miniature daffodils. That’s a cheery little yellow flower. 🙂
Was it regular Angel?
Hi!
Actually, two samples, “regular” and “Eau Croisiere(sp?).” Sometime when I’m not in the house I may sample the second one.
Scent of the afternoon/evening: The Different Company Bois d’Iris. Inspired by working outside in our various garden patches in the front yard, cleaning up around the irises and daffodils. 🙂 I had planned to maybe go to a park for a walk, not to work in our yard again, but I guess I went into spring planting and tidying up outside mode early? Dad was encouraging me to clean up the stalks of anise hyssop with seed heads on them from the fall, and I went on from there.
Good morning! I’m in Opium Fleur de Shanghai today, which is my birthday. ?
The hubster made me breakfast, and we’re going to walk the Wild One here in a few minutes. I made corned beef yesterday, so today is the glaze, broil and eat step in the process. My favorite. Roasted potatoes and salad to go with it.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday! ?
