I am sorry if this sounds all party-poopery and stridently feminist–but that bottle shape, even in pink glitter, gives me the heebie-jeebies. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want a perfume bottle shaped like a lotus shoe either. I’ve read some positive reviews of the perfume, but just cannot bring myself to touch that bottle.

It would’ve made a great Betty Boop fragrance bottle.

        Yep – it’s cartoonish.

If you don’t like that, you *really* wouldn’t like the shoe used in the display units for Louboutin nail polish (http://thepolishedpursuit.com/happy-valentines-day-louboutin-rouge/): basically a ballet shoe, en pointe, with a stiletto heel attached.

I am a man who has never worn a heel in his life, and frankly I think the world could use a bunch more strident feminists, but I can sort of get the perverse, fetishy visual appeal of a shoe that is literally unwearable, with high heels so high that nobody could ever stand in them: fetishism is usually about extremes, and that’s as extreme as a high-heeled shoe can get. If you put them on, with the understanding that all you can do is lie there, well, aren’t they basically a sort of bondage toy? (And then you get to take them off shortly afterwards: you aren’t going to be hobbling around in them making conversation at a cocktail party.)

Well I take your point Pyramus. We shall both wait for more feminists and more bondage toys together–especially spectacularly unwearable stilettos donned by men! ;-) ;-)

PS I quite like the bottles of Louboutin polish, which can serve double purpose in a dark alley, but you are right–I have trouble even looking at the display “shoe”!

Please feel free to be party-poopery and stridently feminist. The comment policy particularly protects party-poopery and stridently feminist speech so long as it is not about politics (or Bob Dylan).

The original Carolina Herrera was stunning and the men’s version is still one of my favorite mens fragrance ever. Good Girl doesn’t really smell that great, imo, it is very chemical to my nose. An SA told me, that people are buying it for the bottle. I think the name is offensive, and condescending.

“Bad Boy” is only mildly better.

(I meant in terms of offensive & condescending — I never smelled it.)

Oh, I know. I agree it’s offensive too. I haven’t seen it here yet.
