In case anyone is still looking for the right holiday candle...here is this year's Forêt D’or from Annick Goutal (I do think last year's was nicer, though, and maybe also 2017). "Our beloved holiday scent in a limited edition package. Golden Wood. Une Forêt D’or conjures up that moment after a walk in the forest and then decorating your home with pine branches, fresh oranges and mandarins." $95 for 300g, or if you'd prefer the plainer green fluted glass (as shown here) it's $72 for 185g. The US site also shows a diffuser, but not the room spray (which used to be lovely, and which appears to still be available in some markets).

Monday scent of the day 11/25
It’s Monday and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. What fragrance are you wearing?
I’m wearing an old, often forgotten favorite, Lush Silky Underwear.
Reminder: on 11/29, pick your Black Friday poison…
The nursery school of the future
So we are seeing a whole new evolution of luxury. Many of the great brands of the Eighties and Nineties have become almost masstige. Limited editions are so pervasive; flankers so frequent. The aspirational qualities don’t last. On the other hand, I’m fascinated by the explosion of creativity, the opportunity that is taking place in the niche fragrances. For me, niche is the nursery school of the future.
