Happy Hump Day and Thanksgiving Eve (aka Drinksgiving). What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in a dab of Ormonde Jayne Frangipani.
Reminder: on 11/29, pick your Black Friday poison...wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Frangipani [cropped] by Cayobo at flickr; some rights reserved.
I’m in (relatively) cheap thrill Gucci EDP today, and will probably wear Memo Italian Leather for the “too expensive to buy in full bottle” category on Friday. Thank goodness Memo does travel sprays. Happy Thanksgiving Eve, everyone.
I think you smell great.
Thank you, Kelly!
I’m wearing Encre Noire today. I bought Encre Noire and Guerlain Vetiver in full bottles this year. They were both very inexpensive.
Encre Noir is such a great vetiver and a great buy and you smell great! 🙂
Twins! ??
Two of my favorites 🙂
Sabbia Bianca, rationing my tiny vial sample, until my travel size gets here.
Vintage Jil Sander No. 4. 80’s floriental powerhouse. Might give Poison a run for its money. Have a great day, all!
I almost wore that yesterday. It’s very good. Did you move yet?
I’m in process. I should be done this weekend. 🙂
I also love the Jil sander No. 4! that’s one va-voom parfoom!
It really is. I love that silky spicy drydown.
I have a vintage too. Its good, the new one isnt bad either
Good to hear. I probably have a lifetime supply with my 100ml bottle luckily.
That SOTD sounds great!
In a cheap thrill: Jean Patou Sira des Indes. I forgot how much I like it. I had not worn it in a long, long time. Happily enjoying it until I finish, sometime soon, the very few mls left.
I’ve got a bottle of that somewhere – might have to dig it out. I try it every once in a while, but it rarely seems to suit. Maybe it should move to your house….
Or to Coumarin’s house! ??
It’s harder to thunk the ones we really like.
Agree! But before evaporation takes over, I prefer to wear and enjoy the last drop of it! ?
I’ve had this one in my cart half a dozen times. I should just commit next order!!
It is full bottle worthy! I hope you get it and enjoy it!
Not hoarding it, but enjoying it! ??
Thunked my BR decant! ?
Currently luxuriating in the dry down!
Maybe your first new purchase once you’ve arrived in Arizona?
A full bottle for Black Friday or Christmas? ?
Today I’m in Tauer Le Maroc Pour Elle. Pour Elle or not, I like it a lot 😉
After the dinner – off to hunt for some presents for my friends living abroad.
You smell fantastic
You smell wonderful!
Gorgeous perfume.
Enjoying a snow day in La Haie Fleurie!
I’m glad you were able to stay home!
Thanks, lillyjo. Not gonna lie, the kind encouragement here yesterday pushed me over the edge to “hey, why not?” 🙂
Send help, I’m hungry but the cat is on me
Haha! We call that “being held against my will” and the other person is obligated to perform whatever task the captive requires (if they’re home).
?that is a GREAT rule
Same in our house. If you are catted, the other person has to serve you so as not to disturb the fur person.
That sounds all too familiar!
Ah yes! That is the rule in our household, too. The cat sits on me more than she sits on my fiance (which is funny; she started out as his cat), and my fiance grumbles that the system is rigged.
?
Hehehe. This happens so often.
(I bet you smell great, though the name of your perfume sounds like a summer scent to me…why? aren’t there winter hedges? or perhaps it’s just because few things are in bloom in the winter?)
You smell wonderful! I treasure my vintage bottle.
Narciso for Her from a sample today. Liking it. I have the white cube and love it, but it’s very, very gardenia…. This isn’t as big.
Was in Au Dela yesterday and thunked the sample for that.
Stopped at the one See’s candies in NYC yesterday and enjoyed a chocolate lollypop as I watched “Never Surrender” last night at my local theater. A documentary about the making of Galaxy Quest, which I adore. I actually went to a Star Trek convention in the early ‘70s. All the main stars were there. GQ is a love letter to those fans…
Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies!
Me too! love it.
I remember i watched the movie when i was working in North Germany on a saturday. I was the only one in a big cinema, and felt like a VIP. Love Sigourney Weaver too….
Weaver loved that role. She said she loved her blonde wig and hated taking it off.
It truly is one of those movies that catches lightning… everything works. It’s pure pleasure.
I’m giving Chanel Jersey edp a full wearing today. I remember sniffing the edt quite a while ago and disliking it, but I also wasn’t into lavender then. Anyway, I’m liking the edp, especially the the opening blast of lavender. It settles to what smells like a powdery iris/lavender with vanilla and and dash of something leathery. I will say that Chanel’s vanilla accord is not my favorite- I find it a little rubbery here and in other perfumes.
We’re going to the hub’s nephew and wife’s tomorrow in Westchester. I’ll be making an apple/pear pie and my hubs is making a healthier variation of the traditional green bean casserole. Never made it before so we’ll see…
Here’s the recipe (he’s adding shallots and crispy shallots on top):
https://www.wellplated.com/healthy-green-bean-casserole/
That version of the traditional green bean casserole sounds delicious. I’m planning to make that dish tomorrow–the old way–but I’ll keep track of this for the future. I do use fresh green beans, at least. I especially like the sound of the panko crumb + Parmesan crust. Let me know how it tastes! (I confess though I’m a total sucker for canned French’s fried onions!)
I will! I like the standard version, too, but he likes to try new things and doesn’t mind the additional labor (in fact, I think he enjoys that part!).
Yes, those onion rings are good and am hoping adding the fried shallots on top will satisfy. He’s also using sour cream instead of Greek yogurt… Wouldn’t be the same if it were TOO healthy ? Good luck with yours!
Yum, I’m making a mashed potato dish with cheese, panko and fried onions on top…..should be tasty
I don’t think that *couldn’t * be tasty! Sounds delish ?
How does it compare to Burberry Brit Rhythm for the lavender?
Enjoy your Thanksgiving! Your pie and casserole sound great!
It’s been a while since I smelled that one, but beyond the lavender opening, I didn’t love it. Too much tonka or something for me. The Chanel lavender note lasts a while. I’d say the drydown reminds me a little of Cuir Ottoman.
BK Amber Oud called out to me today and for once I fit the CP without trying: I bought the refill of this and did a split to make it more affordable. I’d love the beautiful bottle, but this one is fine and I am happy I have it.
I bought just the refill as well… hate paying so much for packaging.
Exactly, although I do consider the bottle part of the experience.
I do too, but when the budget is tight, the juice wins out.
Wearing a bit of TF’s Cafe Rose. I’m too cheap (and stubborn) to ever buy a full bottle, probably, but I do love my decant.
Some random impulse made me pop over to The Non-Blonde’s site this morning… where I was shocked and horrified to read that Gaia had passed away last weekend from an un-diagnosed heart condition.
Gaia hadn’t been posting regularly for a very long time, but I think many oldsters like me will remember her and be deeply saddened by this loss.
Omg! So sorry to hear this!
Holy crap. I have been checking her blog off an on for about a week. I had to pop over and saw she has died. It’s always hard to lose a family member especially before a holiday.
Oh my goodness, that is sad news. Thank you for so much posting about her death, FearsMice. I was just thinking about Gaia last night.
Oh, no! I had noticed that the posts were few and far between, but I just figured she was super busy. So sad.
See below — she had not been ill and had slowed the blogging for other reasons.
Just went to the site. The cats, you guys.
Yes, and she looks so lovely and happy there.
Oh, that is so sad! And young. So sorry to hear this- thanks for sharing this news. I followed her on Instagram- she was a fellow cat-lover…
OH NO! Yes, I read her quite often a while ago. So sorry to hear this. Thanks for posting.
This news is really a blow, I followed her blog since day one and admired her opinions on perfumes (our tastes were very similar) and of course, cats. So sad.
That is shocking and really sad. Thanks for letting us know. The Blonde. Oh am really sorry for him, and all her friends and family. A little less light out there today.
Yes that was my thought immediately–her husband. This is awful and sad news indeed. Golly.
I noticed that her blog was flagging but had no idea that she was ill. Her poor husband. So sad for the family.
I don’t believe she was ill, as it says she had an undiagnosed heart condition, sounds like it was sudden and unexpected, but I guess we’ll never know for sure. I do know she had stopped blogging for a while as she was disheartened by the rampant shilling and dishonesty in the beauty blogosphere in the past few years.
Sudden is even worse for the family.
Ooh my, this is sad….
This is sad news indeed. I met her at a going away get-together for Ari when she set off to open her eponymous boutique.
oh my goodness..
I loved her beauty recommendations and have bought several eye shadows based on her blog.
So sad!
Oh! I’m so sorry to hear this. I had no idea she was ill…just figured she had other priorities over the blog, which I used to check daily. I followed her kitties on FB. My condolences to her husband and family.
Just read the entry and saw it wasn’t ill health that distanced her from blogging. She was an inluencer before the term existed…and honest.
Oh no! Very sad news!
Oh, dear, what a great loss! How kind of Ori to post that beautiful farewell.
Back when I had a stressful job I used to read Gaia’s careful reviews of makeup and brushes because it was so relaxing, and of course I loved her perfume reviews and currently posts. I’m so grateful for the time, care, and talent she put into the blog! Ori’s posts were always a treat, too.
Thanks for letting us know, FearsMice!
I was just checking on her site earlier this week….what a shock! So sad for her beloved husband, and what a loss for our community.
Yes, I saw this on FB this morning and have been so sad all day. I loved her blog and am heartbroken for her husband and family. Far too young. 🙁
Oh no! (Hurries off to check The Non Blonde). What a damn shame.
I am so sad to hear this. I visited Gaia’s site regularly and thought she had great taste, knowledge and style all around – from perfume and makeup, to books and song recommendations, great art and images, clothing and jewellery and her love of cats and animals. Condolences to her family, friends and to those who loved her wonderful blog.
I have just come from her blog to see if someone posted about her passing away. So sad and so sudden. I am sorry for her family.
I love Cafe Rose. You smell great!
I’m off today and tomorrow. I took my daughter this morning for a mall outing. I stopped in Macy’s and tried the No.5 shimmer oil. It’s not very shimmery on skin, which is nice. The bottle opening is very large, I was afraid I might dump it all over, so I just took a swipe from the inside cap. I topped it off with a few sprays of Eau Premiere. Sephora had some black Friday deals today. I bought a urban decay gift set for twenty dollars for my daughter for Christmas. It appears my turkey is thawing nicely, although I’m not sure how to tell how the inside is doing.
It sounds like a really successful mall visit. How fun for your daughter when she will get the UD set.
I’m so glad I waited to buy it!
Pleade, let us know how if you were successful with the turkey this year. ?
You know I will!
Nice on all!
For sure!
The Chanel oil sounds intriguing! Happy TG! I hope your dinner is fabulous!
The bottle is really nice and heavy! I would have liked to put on more. I’m really just hoping for passable with my dinner, lol..
I wish I would have inherited the cooking gene in my family.
Mr. Jalapeno started thawing the turkeys for Friendsgiving yesterday. We’re scheduled to get together with friends on Saturday, so that will be our big cooking & eating day.
Good luck with your cooking tomorrow!
Wearing Jicky edt, current version. Woke up to a power outage but organized the house a little more before work. After work, I might finish one more little project and call it a day with the Thanksgiving cleaning. I am anxious about what awaits me at work. But BBW is having a huge candle sale on Dec 7th.
Hope work goes ok Dawn!
Tuberose Gardenia. Thankful for this gem!
?
Wearing Arabie today from the cheap decant I found on eBay. Yummy!
I am going to have to look for my full bottle and start wearing it.
My grandma made and canned her own mincemeat for mince pies over the holidays. I hated it – we all hated it except her – but it smelled divine with all the cloves and other spices. That’s how Arabie smells to me.
I get Indian fried rice from it 🙂 I guess it must be the general nostalgic scent of heavily spiced foods.
Wearing L’Ame Sœur by Yann Vasnier for Divine. Lovely on a very RAINY day. And I’ll have to cycle back from work.
I love that one, and really really like Divine perfumes in general. They are beautifully done.
It is very beautiful and rather old fashioned. I’m a huge Divine fan as well. I bought my first two at their first shop in Dinard and was helped by Yvon Mouchel’s wife. It’s a nice memory.
You smell great. It reminds me of Chanel No. 22.
Aqua d Parma Camilia
I’m in Atkinson’s The Excelsior Bouquet today, and I’m surprised by how much I like this. I’m especially digging the sage note. This fits the week’s CP though because I doubt I’ll ever shell out for a full size of this one.
I finished Elly Griffith’s The Stranger Diaries this week and it was quite a good read. It was much more entertaining to me than her Magic Men series.
Happy thanksgiving, all!
Oh good, have that on my kindle but haven’t started it yet.
I’m in Tam Dao, which has become my road trip perfume. Got up early and made the trip to get my bigs. The last 45 miles were a little slippery and I saw one car in the ditch. Had breakfast with my son while my daughter finished her last class. It’s so good to see him. I am instantly in a good mood.? Now we will make our way back home. Safe travels to everyone on the road today!
safe travels!
Thanks ltsg!
Enjoy every minute!
Thanks- I will! I have been looking forward to this so much.
Have a great visit!
Thanks lillyjo! Enjoy today and tomorrow off with your family!
Safe travels to you & the bigs, madtowngirl! And enjoy the time together.
Thanks Robin!
Enjoy having everyone under one roof!
Thanks Jalapeño!
Vintage Avon Nearness, which was dirt cheap on ebay. I sprayed lots, so it lasted the whole day. Nice aldehydic floral with some civet, i guess.
Wow, that must be a very old bottle! Never smelled it.
Feeling a little mournful this AM. Working on an annoying bit of fiction about my organization and watching fat rain drops splashing down on the sill outside. My son who is away at college this year decided to spend Thanksgiving with high school friends in New York City. I have been totally excited for him reconnecting with old friends who are freshmen in colleges across the country, and enjoying New York–which he hasn’t been to since he was very young… but today I am feeling a little bummed that he won’t be coming home until next month. He’s taking a bus from Ohio to the Big Apple this afternoon, and I am sure he is really excited about the adventures that lie ahead. . .
Oh. Perfume? Coco edp.
Not sure why, but you’ve reminded me of this song…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo2ZsAOlvEM
bus trips and melancholy, I guess…
I LOVE that song. If I had to make a soundtrack of my life, that song would be in the top 10. It’s been decades since I was last “Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike. . . ” but some of the loneliest and happiest days of my life were on buses to cities on the East Coast.
I can tell my son is really excited. He’s looking up Chinese hot pot restaurants near St. Marks Place, texting me that he still has 4 more hours on the road.
Tang Hot Pot on Bowery is pretty good! Maybe pricey for a college kid, though. It’s more the Lower East Side (below Houston), but close enough.
How fun for him! But sad for you- you should tag along next time ?
I knew what it was going to be before I went to the link! As a Canadian it is to me the song that most evokes your country. I heard it first as a kid when it came out and I still love it. The words ‘Saudade’ and ‘Hiraeth’, the first is Portuguese and the second Welsh, have a similar meaning and that is the feeling this song brings.
Bittersweet. You smell lovely in my favorite perfume.
Wishing you a happy thanksgiving and a fun and safe trip to your son!
Aw, sorry Oakland Fresca! Hope the visit next month makes up for it, and do hope he has a ball in NYC.
SotD Black Orchid
So good!
I am having a great day
Lunch with a friend
Worked a few hours at/from home
Shopped pantyhoses/sheer tights with 20 percent off
And early this evening, my husband came back from a business trip!
Great perfume and how nice to have a great day! 🙂
Yay for a great day! We don’t see them enough.
SOTD = La Pausa EDP
Grateful to Gail for the swap! I even got a FB of Tauer Wowilla Oil, to be tried later today or Friday. So how does the EDP compare to 28 La Pausa EDT? If there ever was a case of an EDP being lighter than its EDT counterpart, this would be an example. On a blind sniff, one would not recognize these 2 as being related. It’s rootier, has more of a cologne feel and is missing the leather bite. Also, longevity is even worse than the EDT; 8 sprays lasted 2 hours whereas 8 of the EDT lasts me all day (over 8 hours). I’m glad I was able to do a proper wearing and will either finish my generous decant or pass it along to someone who prefers it to the EDT!
OMG the why wait ‘til Black Friday sales! My inbox is full of promotions, including some $ credit with no minimum purchase and free shipping ?.
In other news, I just want to remind those who are or who have loved ones signing up for Medicare, do not be seduced by the ads that Medicare Advantage (Part C) have more benefits for you. Remember, if you’re healthy and you are sure nothing catastrophic will happen to you, it may be a cheaper / reasonable choice. The comparison tools that can help you decide which Plan is best for you? — just a marketing arm of for profit Medicare Advantage providers. FREE rides to doctor appointments? They are just referrals to your local senior or disabled person transportation services with many restrictions (only to doctors within x miles and you have to pay, if it can even accommodate, for the mileage overage) and LONG wait time windows, including how soon you can make appointments and requiring you to be ready an hour before pickup and to wait an hour for pickup from the doctor’s office. Traditional coverage Part A and Part B with supplemental is the way to go but of course, the decision is up to you. Part D is available for either coverage type.
I thought this was a useful summary article on the differences between Medicare Advantage vs Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Insurance plans.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesfinancecouncil/2018/05/01/medicare-advantage-or-medigap-the-great-fork-in-the-road/#70d108a16b20
Thanks for the link. It’s a good read. Medicare Advantage is making its services very attractive and when a for profit alternative does that, red flags go up.
It seems like this year’s deals are way better than last years.
I don’t even remember what I leveraged last year!
My inbox was flooded this morning too, everyone clamoring to get your money first before you spend it elsewhere. It’s rather amusing. Fortunately I have a plan and I’m sticking to it. 🙂
Good on you for sticking to the The Plan!
So many “Pre=Black Friday” things this year, both in email and TV ads for me, too. Won’t catch me anywhere near a mall on Friday. Nope nope nope.
* “Pre-Black Friday”. Stupid typo.
So what I heard was that more retailers are catching on to consumers only buying on Black Friday so why not just spread out the sales and get them to shop more frequently!
Or try and catch the ones who are avoiding Black Friday…
I’m one of those. I flatly refuse to buy anything on thanksgiving and try not to buy on black friday
Looking forward to your review of the Wowilla! I’ve been contemplating that purchase for a long time.
Great Medicare advice, thank you!
Also, I KNOW you’re going to wear out those Black Friday deals haha!
I’ve been flattened by the flu since Sunday but the worst is over and I’m vertical again. Getting a flu shot in October did seem to shorten the worst bits and lessen some of the symptoms. I’m postponing Thanksgiving dinner until Friday because I don’t feel like eating much yet. Today’s perfume is Le Labo Ambrette 9, from a sample. I sniffed my wrist and thought, “What’s the point of this?” It doesn’t seem to have much to say. I’ve already succumbed to a Black Friday promotion, for a watering system for my raised garden beds. I’ve been waiting for it all year! I might also buy a kitchen island on wheels, I need more storage and prep space.
So sorry to hear about Gaia. I don’t wear makeup, but we had similar taste in perfume.
Hope you can get well really soon, it doesn’t seem fair to be sick for the holidays.
Hope the flu is completely gone soon.
Rotten timing ? I do hope you feel much better by Friday.
I used to think the same thing about Ambrette 9 until I suddenly had a different experience with it one summer. I like its simplicity and innocence, just wouldn’t shell out that kind of cash for something that subtle (though I do like subtle). But I would happily accept it as a gift!
Sorry about the flu especially since you had a flu shot! Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Feel better soon!
Oh yuck! Horrible, horrible timing for the flu. I hope that you feel better very soon.
Glad you’re better!
Glad you are at least vertical, and glad you could postpone Thanksgiving! Hope you are even better by then.
I’m in VC&A Ambre Imperial and I am now wearing a special boot for my bad ankle, hope it will work out and cure my limp.
Hope the boot helps you out.
Thank you Kelly, I hope so too.
Did you injure it? I do hope it helps!
Thank you Elisa, so kind of you. Yes, over 3 weeks ago I fell. What I thought was a sprain is in fact a fracture of a bone called the fibula. Now I have to get used to that special boot.
Oh, dear! I hope it’s not too painful. Heal well!
I’m sorry to hear that it’s a fracture. The boot should really help though.
Thank you Lillyjo, the boot is really user-friendly, so that’s something.
You smell great. Wishing you a full & speedy recovery.
Thank you Cazaubon, AI proved really comforting.
That’s such a bummer you turned out to have a fracture! Sending you healing thoughts.
Ouch. Sending healing thoughts!
Apologies if someone else already posted this — or maybe more so if they didn’t. ?
“I will say about fragrance: that was always my mom’s and my No. 1 goal. We had dreamed of fragrance since the day we ever dreamed of anything. Elizabeth Taylor. You’ve made it.”
“I realized pretty quickly that social media was going to be used as my marketing tool and my free focus group. It was when I had to design my perfume bottle, and I wanted a pink bottle. Should it be, like, a bright pink or should it be a lighter pink? I couldn’t decide. So I took a picture of each and put them on Twitter and said, “Hey guys, I need you to decide: Which one do you like better?” I got responses and replies for days. It was from people all over the world, and it was all hours of the night. I would write down on a pad of paper a poll or, like, the tally. Light pink won by so much. These are the consumers that are going to be buying it, and they felt like they were involved.”
https://www.thecut.com/2019/11/kim-kardashian-west-on-her-decade-of-multi-platform-fame.html
The photographs are spectacular. (Seriously)
You’re right!
I also loved the anecdote in which Kim’s mother steals her thunder, photo shoot, and the special Chanel bag by charming Karl Lagerfeld in head-to-toe 80s Chanel.
Now I want to read the rest of this series reflecting on the 2010s:
http://nymag.com/tags/my%20decade#_ga=2.104834368.1528905033.1574882863-1035687755.1574882863
I didn’t have the patience to read the article, but I agree that the photos are wonderful! They remind me of Richard Avedon’s adulatory photos of famous women in the 1970s, especially Liza Minnelli.
SOTD is Givenchy Les Mythiques l’interdit. First day of wearing this blind buy. Not too strong on the aldehydes, which I was a bit worried about. The scent to me is “cinnamonsoap”. Which I never smelled actually.?
So is it a success as a blind buy?
Rest in peace dear Gaia, aka The Non-Blonde.
You’ll be greatly missed 🙁
Hear hear.
Yes. This.
Sjp Lovely (working day)
Looking forward to the 4 day weekend and reconnecting with my fall perfumes! Wearing the same thing every day is better than wearing nothing, but I have too many pretty perfumes in my collection that don’t get love.
Sarah Horwitz (sp?) Perfect Veil for tomorrow, probably. We are trying a new tradition this year, eating at a local spot that offers a Thanksgiving buffet. My brother is in town, and it is very nice having him here.
I would love to go to a thanksgiving buffet! Enjoy!
Hi, friends! Hope everyone is having a good holiday week! It’s actually been chilly here this week so I was in Canturi for two days and today am in Bohemian Spice. It’s soo good!
My mom flies into LA today for Thanksgiving. We are picking her up at LAX. Positive thoughts appreciated for us all lol.
Positive thoughts and happy thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving, lillyjo!
Have a wonderful weekend!
I’m just glad no family is flying in to see us! Good luck with momma, and have a great time.
Ha! I love my mom but an extended weekend is good enough for both of us! 😉
Love Bohemian Spice…I decanted some this last weekend and swoon all over again. Have fun on your family gathering!
Every time I wear BS I am reminded of how much I love it!
Positive thoughts for everyone getting too much family time this week, and for everyone not getting enough! There ought to be some global way to even it out 🙂
Thanksgiving wishes to all–may we be grateful for the blessings in our lives. Sending love to those who may be struggling this year; sometimes all this good cheer is just too much. Peace and joy be yours….
Oh, and I smell mostly like sage and butter as I prep some dishes for tomorrow, but under it all is a whiff of LDDM.
Sage + butter + LAdDM = YUM!
You smell faaaaaabous!
Was very saddened today to hear of the passing of one of my favorite writers Clive James & also of Gaia Fisher whose ‘the non-blonde’ perfume & beauty blog I read for years so am wearing a comfort scent of Frederic Malles ‘dries van noten’
Likewise sad about Gaia, and did not even know about Clive James. Here is the Guardian obit for anyone who wants it:
https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2019/nov/27/clive-james-writer-broadcaster-and-tv-critic-dies-aged-80
Scent of the afternoon: the cheap thrill that is Demeter Mulled Cider. It’s pretty gray here, although not cold, and I wasn’t feeling in the mood for the scents of spring flowers. This is perfect for the season.
Most of my Demeter colognes are samples, except for Honeysuckle and Chocolate Chip Cookie, which I have one ounce of each. Come December, I’m planning on trying more of the fir/spruce/pine fragrances, and may get an ounce of one of those.
Demeter is such fun 🙂
Rest In Peace Gaia Fisher, may it be fragrant, filled with love and loving kitties where you are. Scent of the day is Elevator Music. Almost pulled for Paris-Riviera but my nose is still a bit too sensitive.
I loved Gaia’s blog. May her name always be a blessing.
I was a bad girl this morning. DSH has a sale, so I thunked my sample of Un Soir d’Ete Provencal and bought a bottle. Along with a teeny bottle of Be the Shaman. And a roller of Mountain Sage. And some samples. I should be thunking a LOT MORE because I will be moving to another state any second . . . .
I love Be the Shaman!
I was torn between Be the Shaman and Voices of the Trees. The drydown of V of the T is really nice, perfect in fact. But when fresh there’s a maple-y thing going on that I find disturbing. It’s similar to what I don’t like in Tauer Rose Incensee and a few others in his line. The drydown of Be the S is bland by comparison, but the initial stages are divine.
I meant Rose Chypree.
What’s the sale code? Thanks!
starscent20 is the sale code. 20% off, even the products already on sale.
Started off sunny but the rainstorm has arrived as predicted. I am wearing the entire 8 scent sampler from Anima Vinci. Most of them are pleasant, I will enjoy using up the samples, but haven’t smelled anything compelling enough to buy yet. This is the problem when you have a lot of perfume – most things smell similar to something I already own.
Yep! It sure is a problem or maybe a blessing, depending on how you look at it.
Very true and I can manage testing at most 4 perfumes at the same time.
Definitely a problem!
After smelling great in Hendley Amora last night, I am wearing it again today. Still loving it. Dinner last night was good. Just got done playing football with my nephew, which is the most exercise I’ve had in a while. Spent later last night and this morning playing board games, cards, and dominoes with my mom and nephew. My mom has a pecan pie baking right now, so it smells amazing in here.
Pecan pie us delicious! You’ll enjoy that tomorrow. That is, assuming it is for the holiday..
This all sounds wonderful. Enjoy.☺️
Nothing is better than pecan pie. I mean it.
It sounds and smells like you are having a wonderful time. Enjoy!
Enjoy family time and good food!
One of my neighbors was putting up Christmas lights this afternoon. We chatted briefly while he was doing this, and he said that he was trying to beat the predicted rain showers for later on. So, nice temps today, but plenty of grey and gloomy clouds. Plus some sprinkles. ☔??
SOTD = Oriza L. Legrand Relique d’Amour EdP, from the sample stash. As promised, I pulled out a couple more incense perfumes for the wearing. They fit the weather and my mood so very well.
We just some huge rumbling thunder and lightening. It’s cooling down.
No thunder and lightning here, thankfully! Just a rather meek spritzing.
Last night the t.v. people suggested taking some Christmas decorations down, because of the wind today. Honestly though, it didn’t seem as bad here as predicted.
We will be getting some crazy wind tomorrow, I think. There is some concern with the Thanksgiving parades in Philly and in NYC about the balloons, and if it will be safe for them to fly.
Jalapeño, I saw your comment late last night (too tired to respond) the lipstick is Morning After, a my lips but better kind of shade.
Thanks mtg! I hope that your trip back with the bigs was a smooth and safe one.
You smell all good and eerie.
Thanks, Aurora! I don’t find this one eerie, though. To me it is a cuddly comfort scent. It’s amazing how everyone perceives scent differently.
We got some fat drops for a few minutes and then no more.
There was enough rain by me to wet the sidewalks and grass, and put that cold, wet smell into the air. It didn’t last long, though.
It rained all day here and they are predicting snow tonight. Where’s my SoCal weather?! :’(
I cooked all day. Took a bubble bath in Arboretum Library of Flowers and followed it with a spritz of the same perfume. I really love this sent, a green, powdery floral.
More often than not, I am unfamiliar with your sotd, but I always know you smell wonderful. Have a great thanksgiving!
Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful holiday as well! I found the perfume and the bubble bath at TJ Maxx. Not totally sure, but I think that the house, Library of Flowers, may be out of business? The perfume sprayer was missing so I MacGyvered it. I am very happy with it, considering it was practically free. Anyway, I think this line was sort on par with Lollia.
Cooked all day . . . Arboretum Library of Flowers . . . . Seems like a wonderful prose poem. Don’t know the fragrance but it sounds dreamy.
It’s a great sleep scent for me. Powdery, soft and a little sweet.
Does that mean you are done with all your Thanksgiving cooking?
No, i just made a few desserts for TG. They are time consuming to make.
I bet your feast will be wonderful!
Thanks Kelly!
I’m in AA Calling All Angels this morning and loving it. Haven’t worn it in awhile because I feel it’s best in cooler weather. I was a bit fancy to go to the seafood market, but why not? It seems many people will be serving seafood tomorrow. The parking lot was crowded. They were buying redfish, salmon, shrimp, red snapper, etc. I bought salmon fillet for my meal tomorrow. Yum yum!
Love that. I won’t eat a turkey. They’re pretty smart and noble. Planning a middle eastern beef stew with eggplant and some spice mixture a friend brought from Morocco. I’m spending the day slipcovering my couch.
I don’t know the fragrance, but you reminded me of Jane Siberry’s Calling All Angels, one of my favorite songs when it came out.
Enjoy that salmon tomorrow! ?
I love CAA! You smell heavenly. Pun intended!
Nice! Looking forward to your pictures ?
Seafood sounds wonderful!
Wearing a sample of something that snells like Neroli Portofino. Love the smell, but for the price you can get like a million gallons of 4711 which would last as long. Not a fan of Tom Ford. Don’t like the aesthetic, the fact that they discontinued Sahara Noir, or that they were so super edgy that they named a fragrance Effing Fabulous. F word for shock value is passé, player. you need to update your material.
My aunt made a buttery cake with cranberries. I made an orange and rum glaze, and she left the sugar syrup cooking too long and ended up with dark caramel. We dumped that on the cake too. Well it was effing fabulous!
Haha!
That cake sounds delicious!
It was! I had one small piece already.
