The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 13 July 2019 13 Comments

Most of my lemmings are fleeting, but I am still thinking about that darned Cire Trudon Salta candle. I thought Kevin might buy it and tell me if it was good, but apparently he does not want to be the guinea pig either. So here is Keap's Grapefruit + Yuzu ("The zestiness of citrus fruit just ripe—winter lemons, grapefruits and yuzus—and the freshness of citrus leaves wafting from your hands as you crush them. Perfect for a room filled with optimism, or days in need of a happy glow. Pure, sustainable, simple, KEAP candles are made from natural, slow-burning coconut wax. KEAP candles are clean-burning, lead-free and use cotton wicks. Each glass tumbler is reusable and made in the USA. 50 Hour burn time") which does not sound the same but might scratch the same itch? $39.50 at Twisted Lily. (And the reason I was looking at Keap this morning is that I came across L'Officiel Nose: Stephen Tracy of Keap.)

Regarding the Salta candle, which I am sure is great, I got a cheapie at TJ Maxx calle Sea Salt and Jasmine by brand Ninety Six and it smells so amazing, like a trip to the sea shore.

I mean lots of times I want something, but I actually think I might buy this one! I have been looking for a clean burning candle and I love citrus, so…

I have a very hard time making myself buy candles, which is frankly just as well, but if you end up buying this one do report back! I did not even compare the price per g between this and Salta, but it’s easier to waste $39 than $115 :-)

I read the short interview you linked to, Robin, which left me immediately intrigued about the company. So I went to their website and just spent 20 minutes reading about every candle and considering a subscription. The candle fragrances are composed by Christophe Laudamiel, and the website is gorgeous. The subscription seems like a good deal – $10 off the retail price plus free shipping and you choose the frequency of your subscription and can cancel any time. I’m very interested in the Isle of Jasmine subscription exclusive. That’s the candle discussed in the L’Officiel article.

Yes, that one was tempting. Plus, they used to do a tealight discovery set, don’t know if they still do, but I think it was a daily lemming a couple years ago.

Yes, they do still have the discovery sets! And looks like if you order one before July 15, they’ll include a complimentary aisle of Jasmine tea light.
