Happy Almost-Friday, Orange Blossom Day and Canadian Multiculturalism Day!
I am still at the lake, and I am still in Cutter Lemon Eucalyptus. I am going to have to do some clever thinking to get even partial credit tomorrow.
Reminder: 6/28 will be Time Travel Friday...wear a perfume that takes you back in time, or reminds you of something / somewhere in your past. It does not have to be a perfume you wore in the past! Suggested by chocolatemarzipan8.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Needed something refreshing, but especially relaxing: Caron Pour Un Homme fits that bill perfectly! Love it!
You smell wonderful. I bought the huge bottle of this fragrance, a decision I have never regretted.
Thank you! It is a great fragrance. I didn’t like it much the first couple of times I wore it before, but after revisiting a while ago I fell deeply in love with it!
And the huge bottle is a great deal too!
You’re smelling great this week, pl67!
Oh! Thank you! ?
That is a good one!
Isn’t it great?
It is! You smell great!?
Caron Parfum Sacre
2 soy lattes
A strapping gingham dress..
House twins! You smell great!
I’m en route to 2 soy lattes too ?. My favorite beverage and the best part of my day!
I sprayed with a heavy hand..holding up well in the heat!
Happy orange blossom day! My new favorite day of the year 😉
I’ve been inadvertently celebrating by wearing neroli scents all week. Continuing the theme today in Eau de Neroli Dore.
Heading to the farmer’s market for lunch today. I’m hoping the Mediterranean vendor will be there because I’ve been daydreaming about spinach & feta pie all morning.
That pie sounds wonderful.
So grateful for the farmer’s markets here in the city. The produce and fresh food this time of year is just outstanding.
Oooh, that pie sounds yummy!
Update: Spinach & feta pie obtained. Also a half loaf of 9-grain bread.
Score.
Pass me a piece of that pie
Love spinach and feta pie…yum.
Happy orange blossom day! I tested VCA Neroli Amara today. It was very pleasant.
I’m in Arielle Shoshana Saturday.
You smell marvelous! I just purchased this fragrance. I was lucky to smell some of the mods for Arielle Shoshana Sunday and it is amazing, green tea horchata goodness…..
They say it might thunderstorm here today, so I went with the dark beauty of Parfumerie General Cuir d’Iris. Yummy.
Sorry about the storm, but glad you found the fitting fragrance.
Indeed, and better that I should be having storms than YOU on your lake vacation! 🙂
I am not going to escape rain this week, but we’ve had a couple perfect days so I won’t complain! (much)
As a fellow Cuir d’Iris lover, you smell amazing. It totally fits in with thunderstorms.
Thank you! And yes, it really does fit thunderstorm weather.
Vanille Blackberry by Comptoir Sud Pacifique for me today.
I forgot fragrance this morning which is crazy, I know, but grateful for my little sample of this scent which is very happy and uplifting — both of which I need lots of today.
Stay uplifted through the crazy floragal!
Durga Cowboy Grass. Salty sage and vetiver. Good scent and so unusual.
It’s been raining a lot today, and tomorrow the temperatures are expected to drop to 21 C (70 F). Can’t wait!
Ironically, while we are having plenty of water outside, we have no running water indoors for around five hours. They are fixing it, but they cannot tell us when they finish. I so want to take a shower…
You smell wonderful!
I always thought vétiver was a good choice for hotter, humid, too-busy-to-wash-my-hair days. I hope it does the same for you until your plumbing is fixed!
Thank you! My go-to “shower substitute” scent is Lush Dirty body spray, but I agree about vetiver and all herbal scents in general.
That’s awful. I hate when there’s running water issues. Could you shower at a gym?
Unfortuntely, I don’t go to the gym. Have to wait. 🙁 At least it’s not so hot as last week.
That sounds heavenly. I recently purchased a bottle of Mississippi Medicine and my only complaint is longevity on my fragrance sucking skin. Shall have to experiment with it on my clothing. How is the longevity on Cowboy Grass? And here is to your water being available in the house sooner rather than later…..
I’d say the longevity is average. I put it on about five hours ago. I did re-apply later, but my sample has no sprayer, and I dabbed lightly. Can smell it still, though I it stays close to skin. When sprayed, it should have a stronger performance.
Thanks!
I have longevity problems with the DS&Durga line in general.
In Rose Delight under Myrrh Eglantine. I am spicy yet happily light rose this morning.
Yes you are!
that Rose Delight really is delightful!!
I’m wearing Earth Mother by Dame Perfumery. An example of why you should should try all the samples that come your way – I never would have ordered a sample based on the notes, but a sample was included with an order. I tried it last week and swooned – it smells glorious.
Have a fabulous day!
Same! He included a sample of that in one of my orders and I immediately ordered a travel spray. To me it is a more wearable Angel or Angel Muse. 1 spray lasts me all day.
I was on the Dame website recently and was sad to see his samples are no longer 5ml sprays, but are 2ml perfume oil for the artist collection.☹️I would really like to try Chilehead.
I have an extra sample of Chilehead in the EDP format – can I send it to you?
Oh, I would love that! Do you still have my email?(pkwisdom in the land of yahoo) I will gladly send you something in return!?
I just sent you an e-mail!
You smell great!?
I also got this as a random free sample and like it. I get the reference to Angel Muse, have Angel Muse, but still wouldn’t rule out a larger decant or even FB. As it is, still have a sample to thunk.
It’s going to be a hot one today, and the humidity is already at 70% verses yesterday’s 30%. I can definitely feel the difference. Like we say in the midwest (maybe they say it other places too) it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity!
I needed something refreshing, so many sprays of Assam of India it was.
Perfect pick for a high-humidity day! It’s 63% here and I hope that’s as high as it gets.
I hope so for your sake too! I saw your post the other day that your building doesn’t have AC.?Anything above 60% usually becomes AC territory for me.
It’s been breezy enough lately that the humidity has been bearable. It’s those hot, humid, completely still days that are really killer!
Stay cool and hydrated! Perfect scent for the heat!
Thanks pl67! I will!??
I’m wearing a cerise linen teeshirt, and burnt Siena midi skirt this morning, so I thought.. Fille de Berlin!, this perfume really blooms in the heat.
Your outfit sounds pretty
Thank u!
I almost wore that one
It’s so lovely, isn’t it?
Yes..a dark sultry rose
Fille de Berlin is always amazing….I now keep in in the year round rotation.
I need to try it in the heat, I always seem to reach for it more in the fall.
Learning it’s Orange Blossom Day made my choice easy – Seville a l’Aube! I remember being little and having a small bottle of orange blossom perfume, and asking my mom how they got blossoms out of oranges.
Oh so cute!
Scent twins! And that’s a sweet story ?
I’m wearing body shop Ananya – I think I posted about this when I first got it a few weeks ago, but this gives me a SUPER strong time travel feeling back to high school. No idea if it’s good or bad or whatever, I just love it.
Today I’m in another cheap blind buy (after reading up on the notes, of course): Georges Rech French Story, a floral chypre, that was south of $15 at TJ Maxx. Just as enjoyable as plenty of things that are 10x as much, so calling it a win.
Nice!
Ooh what a great bargain, sounds lovely!
It’s hot and humid here in Cleveland and I spent the morning in vintage Mitsouko. Now I am wearing Iris Silver Mist since I have such a craving for it. Finally made it to Malley’s Chocolates yesterday for my chocolate covered caramels. Found out that I will be an aunt for the 3rd time this morning.
Congrats! I am an aunt three times over too
Congratulations ?
Congrats!
Scent/weather twins! I would never have thought of it as a hot, humid weather scent, but in fact I had a craving for vintage Mitsouko last night and it was just right (in the AC, admittedly).
Adding congrats!
Congratulations!
It’s a hot one today, already 90! I’m wearing TDC Kashan Rose which is a hot weather fave.
You smell lovely
Thank you! It hit the spot.
It gives me great pleasure to have provided you with some of your spring and summer favorites. ?
Seriously, I’ve really been wearing mostly stuff from that swap! I like everything??
That’s a nice hot weather rose.
I really like it. The bit of spice and creaminess make it interesting.
How was Alvin Ailey?
Hard, lol. Not as humiliating as the contemporary dance class, though. I think I’ve learned my lesson.
Ahh, you have that one! I believe I have you to thank for clueing me in on Grace Coddington, another good summer rose. ?
I like Grace, too! It’s a tad more citrusy, methinks.
Today I’m wearing Tom Ford’s Shanghai Lily.
Waving to my brand twin: I’m in Venetian Bergamot. You smell way better!
Shanghai Lily is a beautiful scent but I think it might be discontinued as most of his best ones (IMO) have been.
What a beautiful perfume, enjoy.
Well, you smell really great. That one grows on me more each time I wear it.
SotD = Hiris!
or is it Niris? hajusuuri, I need to know??? 😀
Have a fantastic day, fragrance friends.
Hope your day was fantastic too!
I’m in Bunny Rouge Tenera a boozy vanilla layered over l’Artisan Parfumeur Mechant Loup which add nuts to the mix, that’s a combo I discovered by chance some time ago.
Sounds like a nice mix.
I like both fragrances on their own and I don’t experiment much with layering usually, but together they’re wonderful especially as on its own Tenera can be a little too sweet for my taste, it has a lot vanilla.
Hermessence Cedre Sambac
Nice choice, you smell great!
I used to collect vintage post cards, and Robin’s selection above is from exactly the period that I liked best. I still have them somewhere… I’m a serial collector. ?
I rarely drink tea, but happened to have Kusmi Anastasia yesterday. It’s a blend of Earl Gray, lemon, and orange blossom. Earl Gray was always my favorite tea, but this softer, more floral version has supplanted it.
The orange blossom and lemon aren’t obvious, at least not to me, but they change the character from hard-edged to more rounded, if that makes any sense.
That tea sounds good! One of my favorites is a cream Earl Grey (like a regular Earl Grey, plus vanilla) from The Secret Garden in San Luis Obispo, CA. I first tried it when I was visiting my sister in CA a couple years ago, so it gives me happy California memories every time I have a cup 🙂
Now that my mind is open to modified Earl Greys, I’ll have to give that a try!
I love vintage post cards too and got a box of them at a garage sale a few years ago. They’re obviously from someone’s vacations back in the day but lots of them are charming, I mainly use them to add a note to perfume packages (when I remember.)
That’s a great idea!
My (current) absolute favorite Earl Grey is Upton Extra Bergamot mixed with Upton Lapsang Souchong Imperial and a pinch of Kusmi Anastasia 🙂
You might also like Fortnum & Mason Countess Grey.
Chanel Chance eau Tendre. Light, feminine, airy.
My decant of atelier cologne went through the wash and dryer a week ago, and my husband’s work shorts smell really really good. (He’s in construction)
You smell pretty!
I hope your husband enjoys working in his perfumed shorts. Fancy! 😀
I re tested Narciso Pure Musc last night and thought of you. It’s really a pretty and interesting floral musk, but very soft and a skin scent. I thought it would make a good under the radar work scent.
Yes- totally agree! I thought it would be “bigger” being called Pure Musc.
I really want to try the amber one, but it’s not available here.
Not here either.?I have to order my samples from eBay.
I’ve been to the vet and back this morning, the big dog is doing okay except for some arthritis pain. The vet added gabapentin to his NSAID dose and said to encourage him to walk more to prevent muscle wasting in his rear legs. I’m wearing Musc Tonkin on this overcast and drizzly day, bundled up in a sweater and drinking hot chocolate.
You smell great. Hope your pup feels better soon.
Oh, Orange Blossom Day! I almost wish I had picked an ob perfume, but I smell so good in Masque Milano L’Attesa that I have no regrets. There were some posts about MM and L’Attesa a few days ago, and it reminded me to wear it.
You smell perfect!
Thank you! I agree haha.
In honor of orange blossom day wearing Pacifica Nerola Orange Blossom that is sadly discontinued.
If you’re near a Banana Republic try their recent release Neroli Woods. It’s really great for the price and I got it during a half off sale so even better!
MM Untitled L’Eau and lots of it. Still hot, but a bit less than yesterday. Zucchini frittata for dinner.
It’s 88 here, and I’m loving it. Sotd is Orange Sanguine over Vanilla Flash. Loving it also! I decided to drink a Dr. Pepper on my lunch just now, and am realizing it’s just not the same as I remember, the Pep is gone. Soda reformulation! Today is my monday, but happy almost Friday to everyone ?
Sounds like a great combo! Glad you’re enjoying the heat!??
I’m like a solar panel soaking it up!
Thank you for posting that layering idea! I’ve made a note of it. ?
Awesome!, it worked well. I think it helped the OS with longevity.
SotD is VC&A Bois d’Iris.
You smell so, SO good!
no SOTD yet, waiting for an acupuncture appointment. Scored samples at Nord’s of three Chanel Eaux-so far Paris-Vence is winning my heart.
Just two weeks from today I fly to London to begin my summer travel adventure…must determine the short list (4-5) frags that will make the journey with me.
I always wanted to try acupuncture.
A L’Occitane Orange Blossom floral water with California Rêverie layered over.
I’m laughing – this is what you get for being conscientious. California sent me a jury notice. To my address in NYC. I sent back a copy of my lease and the notice, showing the NYC address. They just sent a postcard denying my request for excuse. I can’t do anything about it. Not flying out there for jury duty….
If I recall correctly, on the back of the form you can check off the box for « I no longer live in xxx county » to be taken off their mailing list. I did that and they haven’t bothered me since.
Very late to the party, but I went commando anyway, except for deodorant. Because bears?
Thought of all you tea lovers today when I took the Lac Agnes Teahouse Trail. Not a great distance but it was all uphill to the teahouse. Approx 1300ft elevation gain. And when I got to the top, did I order tea? No, I got a frothy hot chocolate and an apple crisp to maintain my fluffy frame. Here’s a pic for those interested in coming here. Highly recommend the trail, but honestly, I almost turned back a thousand times.

OMG! What a view!!!!
Ah-mazing!! I’m no bear expert, but when my daughter spent two weeks in the Quetico canoeing and camping, she wasn’t allowed to pack even deodorant or shampoo.?Just toothpaste.
Nice view!
Oh how lovely! That does call for hot chocolate.
SOTD = Diptyque Volutes EDT
Sweet incensy iris tobacco. Very nice!
I have a freebie – a pack of 6 new Chanel manufactures samples (2 Les Exclusifs EDP, 2 Les Eaux, 2 mainstream Chanels) in a Chanel drawstring pouch (not sure if they all will fit inside the pouch but you will get all 7 items.
Qualifications – you must meet all 4:
1. In June 2019 prior to today, you had commented on at least one of my posts or I had commented on at least one of your posts
2. You generally don’t have easy / convenient access to sniffing these (esp. the Les Exclusifs and the Les Eaux). I can’t be strict about this so use your own judgment to see if you qualify. If I were to use a metric for this, your nearest place to sample these are more than 30 minutes away from home or work or school.
3. You live in the U.S.
4. You leave a comment here along the lines of you think you qualify. Please do not email me.
I will use random.org to select the winner. The usual disclaimers apply – if the package gets lost or damaged, it will not be replaced (or I may, but not with the exact items and not all Chanel).
Also, I am the final judge of who qualifies – please do not ask Robin to referee.
Good luck NST regulars!
Ah, the deadline! Sunday, 6/30 @ 5PM Eastern.
1.) Yes, recently.
2.) Borderline on this — King of Prussia is ~30 minutes away, but getting around the streets/parking lots/structures was *not* easy. You decide. I’m sure I have more access to being able to sniff perfumes than other folks here.
3.) Yes, live in the U.S.
4.) Yes.
You were one of the ones whom I thought would qualify! I estimate 4 or 5 May but who knows?
Also late to the party! Spent the morning in EL Tuberose Gardenia — bought a small FB a couple years ago and did not love it, but it has grown on me. After lunch/shower, switched to Cristalle Eau Verte, four solid sprays, my staple for HOT weather when I want to smell like someone who Must be Taken Seriously (I had an important work thing).
I always forget to wear EL TG!
It isn’t one I reach for often, but this year I made sure to include it in my easily accessible seasonal rotation. I felt guilty every time I opened my storage bin and saw the shiny little box. Won’t repurchase, but at least I no longer feel that I should swap it.
Very late…..its almost friday here haha.
SotD is Rahele.
We enjoyed somewhat cooler summer weather today. But this weekend temperatures will rise above 86 Fahrenheit / 30 celcius again.
SOTD is Carner Barcelona D600. Always feels just right. Trying to pick out new glasses frames. The old ones are fine, but when you wear the same thing every day, you want a change every couple of years. I want to get something more funky, but something I won’t get tired of or where all you see of me is my glasses. Also, DH has to approve. This is not easy.
I just got new glasses earlier this year. Frames are a tough decision because you have to live with them for at least 2 years before they let you get new ones.
Started off in Arte Profumi Sucre Noir but then went out sniffing, so I have about six different things on.
Ha! I know that smell well. What did you try today?
I tried the new Mugler exclusive Naughty Fruity, Aura edt and eau sensuelle, the new Angel edt, AdP Magnolia Nobile edp, VCA Neroli Amara, SL La Réligieuse, TF Jasmin Rouge, plus resniffed a bunch of older Lutens to see how they’ve fared from reformulation. Nothing to really be excited about, although I was sad to discover Alien Essence Absolue has been discontinued, that was a good one.
Oh, that’s always fun. I also love the smell of my purse when I dig out all the sample sniffy cards. ?
Commenting late today. I’m in L’Artisan Premier Figuier Extreme. Someone wore it the other day and that reminded me to dig it out. Beautiful and nice in hot weather. My brother and his wife are coming for a few days, and I’m looking forward to their visit.
Oh fun, have a good time with your brother!
Happy Orange Blossom Day to all my NST friends!
My SOTD was Angel Eau Croisiere by Mugler. I guess I truly am a fan of fruity fragrances. This scent is fantastic for summer. The blend of mango, grapefruit, and blackcurrant sorbet is perfect for the season.
I was completely surprised and blown away by this one since I’m not a fan of the cult favorite of Angel. I think this could possibly be FB worthy for me. Anyone try this one? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve tried it a few times. I think it’s really fun and great for the summer. On me, there was just a hint of original Angel, more fruit than sugar.
Gorgeous bottle. I’m tempted to get it myself.
The bottle is great, isn’t it?
Today was a couple of dabs from a sample of Bois Farine. I was trying to decide if I thought it smelled like bread. I thought, “Maybe, if I use my imagination a lot.” I like the scent. It’s kind of on the weird side for me, but I find it a pleasant weird.
You smell great! I treasure my bottle of Bois Farine, a swap from a very kind NSTer.
Thank you! 🙂 I’ll try the sample a couple more times and see if I want to get something larger. I still have things to confess to Donatella in early July. Quite a number of things. lol
Later, after my shower, I went with the Seville a l’Aube that others mentioned above. *Big* rush of orange, but a very, very nice orange. 🙂 Have a good evening, folks! 🙂
Posting late today! I had a lunchtime vet appointment for one of the other cats today. It was time for Pixel kitty to get a couple of shots. Other than getting carsick on the trip there, and the trip back, she is just fine.
SOTD = a bit of Silences EdP, from the sample stash. Another dry green sounded like a good idea for hot and humid weather.
I hope you and Pixel kitty are able to relax a little this evening. ?
My SOTE is Jolie Madam. Long crazy week, thankfully it’s my Friday, and it’s also a long weekend here!
No real plans, just hoping for lots of sun and relaxation.
The best kind of plans, imo. ?
I’m in ELDO Remarkable People, from the discovery kit. I think I’ve tried this before….really liked it then, really like it now. Nice citrus with champagne notes. Very nice for hot weather.
For some unknown reason, I had alot of trouble being able to smell Remarkable People. You make it sound really good.
Before I forget, one of the samples I got with my Sephora order was Mr. Burberry EdT. Please let me know if you’d like me to send it to you, U.S. residents.
