It’s Almost-Friday, plus World Refugee Day, Brian Wilson’s birthday and Ice Cream Soda Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Looks like we're expecting another humid day followed by thunderstorms, but I'm smelling like all the good parts of summer in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Kaleidoscope.
Reminder: on 6/21, mark the solstice by wearing your favorite fragrance of summer (or winter) 2019.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing a summer favorite, Demeter’s Tomato. Totally replicates the scent of tomatoes growing on the vine – the leaf, the stem, the fruit. Lovely.
You can come sit next to my basil and mozzarella cheese, that is what I am having for lunch, ensalata caprese..
Nommmm. How have they not made a scent with the real scent of fresh basil, tomato leaf and garden-fresh fruit?! Maybe not EVERYONE would want to smell like a salad, but it sounds darned summery to me!
Personally I would love to smell like a caprese salad.
Yeah, sounds good to me, too! You could bring out the peppery notes of the basil with a peppery olive/olive oil note! . . . Num!
I love the smell of tomato- plants, fruit, all of it.
Oh, that smells wonderful – I adore the scent of tomato plants.
Discovered a very expensive decant has partially evaporated/oxidized, so today’s task is pulling out all decants and putting plumber’s tape around the neck threads to try to stave off the destruction. No more decants for me.
Wearing a decant of SL Chêne I found in the stash.
Distressing, isn’t it? I had that happen with a lot of SL decants from one of the decant companies (tiny spray bottles that, turns out, don’t seal all that well), and just yesterday I discovered a decant of vintage Bal a Versailles parfum that has somehow evaporated down to a single viscid drop. I’m still gonna wear it, soon, on a day when people don’t have to deal with the effluvia. I bet it’s spectacular.
Oh please report back when you do wear that one single concentrated drop!
My small samples of SL perfumes somehow always separate into unsightly globs of oil and some other substance!
Very distressing. The 3-5 ml atomizers are usually the worst offenders, but I had one batch of 50ml atomizers that were bad too. It’s bad enough that it evaporated, but the air exposure also caused it to spoil, so I can’t even revive it with a bit of everclear. Lesson learned.
So sorry for your evaporated and spoiled decants. I hoard a few really expensive decants that I really should just use up!
I similarly don’t have time for decants! The few times I’ve gotten them I wore them as quickly as I could.
This is why I stopped buying decants.
That said, many of them are still good despite no extra care on my part, and I am actually ok at this point with the fact that my collection is dwindling via “natural causes”, since it was too big to begin with.
I wouldn’t have minded too much if it wasn’t so large and expensive. Given the size of my collection, I expect some natural loss due to things going bad/drying up. But it always seems to be the most expensive or precious ones that are lost, good old Murphy’s law!
So true!
I’ve had quite a few expensive evaporation, even taped up ?. In fact, I notice that it’s generally the more expensive stuff that evaporates! Some of my cheapie have been hanging around for years!
Of course it’s never the cheap ones that go bad!
Hello! Been to my cousin’s wedding yesterday, hence my absence here. In the end I narrowed my perfume choice to Chanel, Boy or Paris-Deauville and I decided for the latter one to wear for the celebration. It was a beautiful and fun wedding ceremony.
Today is a public holiday in Poland sp we can all wind down after a night of eating and dancing.
I’m in Acquasala by Gabriella Chieffo right now.
Enjoy the holiday!
Yay! Do you have Friday off as well?
I took a day off, yes!
Glad you had a great time! Enjoy the extra days off.
Enjoy your long weekend!
Another dark, rainy, stormy day. I don’t remember how the sun looks like anymore.
Wearing Heretic Jasmine Smoke. Sweet, creamy jasmine with a touch of tobacco and a dry down of tonka bean and vanilla. Nice and pretty.
I feel like I am living through summer in San Francisco but I live on the east coast..
It looks like the weekend is going to be gorgeous! But…more rain for next week though.
Except the fog here is warm or hot.
That perfume sounds fabulous! Sorry for all the rain☹️
It is a nice scent. It thought it wa going to be similar to ELDO Jasmin et Cigarette, but not even close to it. I prefer Jasmin et Cigarette better, where the tobacco is more pronounced.
That perfume sounds fabulous! Sorry for all the rain☹️
Sorry for all the rain pl67. We had rain all day yesterday and today the sun is out- hopefully it will be for you tomorrow!?
It has been raining the whole week. It is distressing already, but hopefully the weekend will be sunny and warm enough to enjoy it! ?
Hey, I’m blaming you for my rain today?
I know, right?! I don’t even mind the cooler temps, I just want to see some SUN??
Crossing fingers for dryer conditions soon. Right now, it is pouring outside! ⛈?⛈☔☔
Sorry about your rain – we are having rain too, but the rest of the weekend should be sunny. Hope you get some sun soon!
Your SOTD sounds like a great pick-me-up. Maybe I should start sniffing jasmine if all the rain gets on my nerves.
I don’t even know what to smell anymore to cheer myself up. We had a couple of hours of sun this afternoon, but we are expecting rain again later tonight into tomorrow morning (sigh!).
Inspired by SmokeyToes SOTD yesterday I am in Good Girl Gone Bad
I feel like I have to sway my hips when I wear this one.
I am a fan of Big White Florals in the summer, so I am going big this week..
Headed out tonight to see a broadway show with my girlfriends. Now to find what dress that could match this perfume for tonight…
It can be nice to have a swing on that porch! . . . ?
Ha! I ❤️You!
?
Lovestosmellgood – whenever I wear GGGB, I think of Jessica Rabbit “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way…” 😀
Have fun at the show tonight with girlfriends!
Ha!
I am not bad , I just smell that way
I am going to see What the constitution means to me
Enjoy the show! I bet you’ll look (and smell) great!
I will try (to look great)
It’s the last day of spring, and though it’s too warm for this, I’m wearing Diptyque Eau Duelle, aka Bathtub Full of Vanilla, before putting it away until autumn. I sure do like it.
A friend was wearing this the other day and it smelled really nice on her.
Chanel No. 5 EDP is my SOTD and I am drinking a cup of hibiscus tea.
Hibiscus tea is one of my favorites! And you smell wonderful
Thanks ! I have been drinking a lot of hibiscus tea today because of sinus/allergy problems. The hot liquid helps !!
How’s the doggie?
He is doing much better today. He is 14 years old, and he sleeps most of the time, so it is not like he’s running around like he used to. Its hard to judge, but at least he’s not limping and his back is straighter than it was yesterday. I am waiting for the vet to call me with his blood work results.
Thank you so much for asking 🙂
Glad to hear he is better. Every day is precious when they get old and frail.
Smelling great.
I’m in Bvlgari Omnia for a dog doctor appointment this morning, a few errands, and then a short to moderate travel day. Cheers all, and happy Almost Friday Day✌?
Deva, you smell SO good..
Thank You! This is such a beautiful no-brainer, wish it was in a better bottle though.
Omnia is pretty much my go-to when I have no idea what I want to smell like, because it’s inoffensive — never bothers anyone, doesn’t project too much — but it’s still interesting if you take a minute to really experience it, and it has this chameleonic ability to go with every mood or season. I think it’s an underrated masterpiece.
And so they discontinued it and made a bunch of brainless flankers. . . harumph.
Is T- Rex ok? ?
Oh, yes, no worries! I have to get a health certificate from a vet so I can get into Canada without issues. Plus I needed to get a refill of her heart worm medication. ❤️?
Great! Happy to hear she is doing fine! ???
She is great! Thanks so much for your concern? The only dog I’ve ever had that LOVES going to the vet- because ATTENTION! Lol! Hope you have a great day!
Woo hoo! Getting her ready for Canada!
Wishing you a good trip through Canada!
Safe travels to you and T-Rex!✌️
Thank you! I’ll tjimk of you whenever I break out my kayak ?
Happy trails!
Thanks!
You smell divine! One of my favorites!
It’s a beaut for so many different reasons??
And the journey begins! Much love to you and T-Rex ?
Right back at ya sistah! I’m counting on you to keep your finger on the pulse of the perfume world. I will be WAY out of the loop the next couple of months, and will need a refresher course after all this wandering hither and yon. ✌?
I think there’s good perfume shopping in hither, but I’m not sure about yon. . .
Have a wonderful and safe trip!
Happy travels! Looking forward to Instagram posts….
Have a great trip! Stay safe!
Bon Voyage to you and T-Rex! I hope that we’ll see the occasional post from you here at NST.
It has been raining almost continually where I live for ages. Not only is this distressing since I live in an agricultural area (all the flooding is really hurting farmers) but it’s also playing havoc with my brain and mood. I just want to see the sun!
Today I’m wearing Zoologist Panda from a spray sample. This is definitely one of the easier to wear Zoologists, just a nice fruity floral type scent.
I feel for you- and the farmers! I am also profoundly affected by sun, or lack thereof. I will try and send some your way!?
Oh, thank you for putting my pouty reaction to the weather in perspective!
Oi, we have a forecast of 96 today with a heat index of 112. Around here in Texas in summer we pray for cloudy days! I wish I could shift some sun rays up your way.
Hoping the rain eases up for all of you very soon!
I don’t remember many summers in my lifetime when it rained so many days in a row.
Adding my hope that you and the farmers can dry out ASAP!
Olivine Atelier Amongst the Waves perfume oil. I smell beachy, which seems very appropriate considering it is Brian Wilson’s birthday. I was just watching the trailer for Love and Mercy the other day and thinking I should rewatch it with my college girl. I liked that movie and I will happily watch John Cusack in almost anything, with the exception of The Paperboy (still trying to get that disturbing movie out of my head 7 years later *shudders*).
Today’s scent/song pairing ?:
https://youtu.be/mdt0SOqPJcg
Great pairing! I love connecting music to perfume. Thanks for the link??
And he is not well, apparently…he postponed a June tour because of mental issues. So sending him extra virtual good wishes today, and a special thank you for God Only Knows.
Good morning Y’all…..
Yesterday’s Acqua di Parma (Arancia di Capri) was disappointing, but today I’m much happier in Acqua di Parma Magnolia Nobile. I’m over projecting at the moment just a wee bit because the humidity in here is 71%, but it’s bound to quiet down at some point! 🙂
More rain coming….I feel like I live in Florida this week!
The perfume grinch is not complaining?
He’s been busy in the back room with paperwork…..So far I’ve avoided him pretty well! 🙂
I am lemming Magnolia Nobile. You smell great!
SOTD is Jacomo Silences, which is quickly becoming a new summer favorite. I have it in a tiny, 2.5ml dabber bottle, so I think I’ll go for a spray fb when it runs out.
I’m doing some reflecting on World Refugee Day today. Earlier this week, I had the immense privilege of attending a lecture by a wonderful woman from Budapest who survived the Holocaust and immigrated to the US as a refugee. It’s the only time I’ve had the ability to hear directly from a Holocaust survivor about their experience, and it felt almost sacred to listen to her tell her story, given that there are so few survivors left. So grateful that she was willing to share her story with us.
I am also reflecting..
A few weeks ago I attending a talk and a documentary about a survivor of a suicide car bomb in Iraq in 2006. He is now a motivational speaker and living here in the US. He went through over 30 surgeries to fix his face and give him a nose. He was also left blind.
Oh! I almost forgot to fill you all in on my rose-sniffing volunteer experience yesterday. Most of the roses had little scent – I felt a little like a hapless bumblebee jamming my nose into some of the more demurely-scented blossoms. But there was a group of “Hybrid rugosa” roses that had really wonderful, strong, powdery-floral scents that made me think of some expensive, vintage rose-scented face powder. Two of the specific varieties I liked were called Schneekoppe – a soft, blush-pink blossom with lots of petals, and Hansa – a smallish, bright pink blossom.
Thanks for this report!
I am also reflecting due to what’s in the news of late and having travelled with survivors and children of survivors. My recent trip to Tampa / St.Pete included a visit to the Holocaust Museum and the facts are staggering. Also. While this was a long time ago. I did extra credit work in high school and got a personal note from Elie Wiesel.
Thank you, everyone, for sharing your thoughts today!
My first teaching job, before I got a license or any training, was teaching English and providing community gardening space to refugees in the Twin Cities. I don’t think I was much of an English teacher, but the gardening was transformative for some of the participants–and I often think about the lifelong work of recovery from those sorts of experiences. . . learning to feel safe again. To feel rooted in a strange land. To feel connected.
On my mind too. To NOT have to leave your home because of strife / war / famine / politics / religion is a gift.
That is a special experience. Many Holocaust survivors don’t talk about their experiences at all, or until much later in life. My BILs mother, who is in her 90s and an Auschwitz survivor only started talking about it when she was in her early 80s. My childhood friend visited here a few weeks ago and her father was a WW2 refugee from Hungary. He and his parents fled to the mountains in France (think Au Revoir les Enfants story). He was invited by the town in France to share his experiences with the town last year and it was the 1st time my friend heard the details of his experiences! Very emotional hearing about it.
And I travelled with someone who was sent to Cuba!
So glad you were able to experience that.
What an amazing experience, I’m so glad you were able to attend and hear her story. It’s true, many Holocaust survivors don’t talk about their experiences at all. It’s important we hold memories of these and other survivors so we may bear witness for future generations.
When I visited the Holocaust museum in Washington D.C. I was mesmerized by the videos of peoples’ stories of surviving the most horrific experiences. I used to sing in a choir with a woman who was imprisoned at Bergen-Belsen, she told me her story. Every person’s story is so touching and heart-rending. May it never happen again.
Here is a link to a wonderful story by a French Holocaust survivor, from the movie Human, by Yann Arthus-Bertrand:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gXGfngjmwLA
The whole movie is excellent, you can watch it all on youtube.
That was really wonderful – thank you for sharing! I got a little choked up at the end.
Hi all! My SOTD is vintage Chanel No. 19 EDP. I need some armor today as work is very stressful and busy. This will give me much-needed fortitude.
Can’t go wrong with 19! Be strong!
you smell lovely!
I never smelt the vintage, but I bet its gorgeous! I Hope the stress is a temporary thing.
You got this, Smokey Toes!
Hope the No. 19 gave you the strength you needed today!
Hope the day went well!
Oh boy. I hope that the No. 19 worked its magic for you today.
Slightly over sprayed this morning with Guerlain Terracotta. Sorry not sorry 😉
Oh but oh boy do you smell good!
I love overspraying Terracotta… it is a delight to be overwhelmed by.
I’m rarely sorry for over spraying!
You are wafting wonderfully today!
I recently heard that Dior Bois d’Argent and VCA Bois d’Iris were supposed to smell quite similar, so this morning I am doing a sniff-off. Yes, they do! Good thing too, as I have a paltry decant of the former, but a healthy 75 ml bottle of the latter.
That’s good to know!
Dreary, dreary. Sigh. I’m wearing Geisha Blanche since I wore it post shower last night and it hit the spot. I really like the bits of lychee and citrus in the opening.
I have a sample of that one but haven’t gotten around to sniffing it yet! Need to get around to it! Hope you get some sunshine soon!
I really wish I could send you some of our Texas sunshine!
I hope that you get a break in the weather soon!
SotD is A la nuit.
This is beautiful year round but I feels like its made for sunshine, blue skies and everything in bloom.
It’s a scent for a lazy summer, long loose fit dresses, cocktails, reading in the shade, night swimming and star gazing…. Sigh 🙂 ☀️???
(I saw on the SL website its now available in a bell jar….)
You smell like summer!
Haven’t sniffed that yet, but your description is amazing!
🙂
A la nuit = jasmine jasmine jasmine with a slight hint of honey/something resinous.
So….if you like jasmine…you really have to give it a try.
Together with Jasmin rouge and Sarrasins, its the holy trinity of jasmine for me. 🙂
I love those three as well!
Your really tempting me, with that description.
🙂
You really have to love jasmine to enjoy this one though. Its all about those little smelly white flowers.
A la Nuit is a big jasmine perfume for sure! Different than Alien, though.
I’m wearing HdP 1804 George Sand this morning. It was raining earlier but the sun has come out now; maybe I won’t have to water the garden later.
Ha! Mr. Spicebomb and I were just discussing that–was it enough for the new sod so we don’t have to put out the sprinkler?
SOTD = Prada Infusuon de Mandarine
Juicy orange oppoponax – LOVE and perfect for a warm rainy day. I feel like I am rotting from all this rain!
Lillyjo, the lunch went well. We ordered too ice food but better that than not enough!
Question – If everything works out, I will be going to Mexico City in late December and celebrating New Year 2020 there. The elevation is quite high and I am looking for tips on how to get acclimated to the altitude.
Albuquerque is a mile high and Santa Fe is over 7,000 feet. When I moved here I could definitely feel it. My best advise is to stay SUPER hydrated- lots of water- and go slower. You’ll get winded easier, but just walk a tad slower, take stairs a little slower etc. Shouldn’t take you too long to get acclimated but just taking things slower and drinking lots of water helps. Oh, and watch out if you have cocktails. Some people feel that high altitude doesn’t affect the way the alcohol hits them, but when I first moved here, I felt like it magnified the effects of alcohol at first. Just a heads up in case it hits you like that as well!
I agree with staying hydrated. I used to spend my summers living on Mt. Rainier, and it always took a week or so to get used to living at altitude again. I’d watch climbers getting ready for attempts to “summit,” and getting enough water was a big part of it. That and extra sunscreen. You could tell the folks who didn’t think ahead and burned to a crisp twice as fast as they expected to!
Yes!!! I forgot the sunscreen part but yes! The sun is no joke at higher altitudes! Even when we were in Colorado this past weekend camping at around 7k feet, the temps were nice but the sun was soooo strong.
Thanks, Marjorie Rose!
Thank you, KellyC! Great tips!!! Hydrate, slow down, severely limit alcohol (I may go teetotaler) and sunscreen!
Glad the lunch went well ?
Thank you!
Thirding staying well hydrated at altitude. Also, pack a stronger sunscreen than what you normally wear. And take it easy re: physical exertion for the first 48 hours or so after you get up to altitude. It usually takes that long for a person’s body to acclimate.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll see about the stronger sunscreen as my skin can only tolerate limited SPF sunscreen (60 SPF) before it gets rashy. That said, I will use a UVA / UVB blocking umbrella as added protection.
UVA/UVB blocking clothes or an umbrella is a great idea, too. Some of the shirts which have UVA/UVB protection are rather cute now.
SotD = Hiris
Still enjoying my scent simplification project, so today is for Hiris with a very precious and pretty sample of Prada Purple Rain on deck for later.
? Iris allllll the waaaaaayyyyy!!!
Yay for iris!
yes! I’ll make that a double yay! 😀
Smelling super good!
Thank you, KellyC! 😀
Love me some Hiris,
it’s Hermes perfection.
Niris ?
🙂
I ought to sniff Hiris again the next time I am near a bottle. I didn’t care for it the first time I smelled it, but iris was something new to me and my nose then. I might really like it now.
ZOTE last night was Dragonfly, which I liked, but like the others I’ve liked, only lasted a few hours. Pooh.
ZOTM is Elephant, which I *just* spritzed, and I am getting milky, green vegetation (milky like wet, gooey, stripped branches, not like dairy products).
I love Elephant! Maybe I’ll wear that tomorrow, it would go well with the rainy weather we’re having.
We are having cool, damp start to the day here, and it does seem like a good fit!
Perfect for tropical weather
Ha ha, that’s one good thing about T-Rex, it lasts a LONG time. (Or a bad thing, depending….) I found that Elephant was one that really grew on me the more I tried it… I kept using it until I used up my sample. But haven’t gone for a bottle of it yet. Yes the green in it is “juicy.” Dodo is another very green one.
Yeah, T-Rex had me smelling like BBQ for several hours. . . and Hyrax gave me a fecal whiff long after scrubbing, too! Isn’t that always the way.
I am liking Elephant, but again, concerned that I’m considering a reapplication only an hour after first spray! I have a hard time buying scents that don’t last at least 4 hours–otherwise, it feels like a chore to keep them up. Like lipstick.
LOL at “Many kinds of lettuce”, which would be an apt descriptor for my fridge right now. In Minnesota we are still in the spring phase of our CSA (community supported agriculture) share, which means salad salad salad lettucewraps salad salad.
I am going to splash on some Diorella as soon as all the patients leave. Summer faves week continues!
Regina, I’m having the same problem with an overabundance of greens!
Yay for summer favs week!
Someone else with an abundance of CSA greens. Fortunately, a lot of them taste really good sauteed in olive oil with a lot of garlic. ?
Today is a wet and dreary day, and I am thumbing my nose at the weather with Pacifica’s Indian Coconut Nectar. Wish I were back in Jamaica.
LOVE Indian Coconut Nectar and Jamaica! You smell great and make me wish I were on vacation. 😀
Tested Kiehl’s Original Musk no 1 last night and this morning and fell in love with it. Dirt cheap for a full bottle but have to wait until my birthday. Wearing the original Miss Dior today.
You know, I’ve heard so much about that but never tried it either! I’ll have to give it a shot!
L’Ombre dans L’Eau, one of my longtime summer loves. I still remember purchasing my very first bottle in BlueMercury in Philadelphia. The price had just jumped from $48 to something like $65. That was in 2003…!
That one is soooo perfect in summer. Sadly, I drained my decant. It’s on my FB list for sure tho!
Those bottle prices!
I’m taking a long lunch because why not? My daughter was up all night last night. I’m very tired. October skies again today. I’m wearing Alien eau Sublime. A summer favorite. It’s reminds me of the smell of mixing lemonade with grape juice, and some ginger ale for the sparkly fizz. Hope everyone who needs it, gets some sun soon!
My hubs was supposed to get in at 10:30 last night (flight from CA). Got delayed not once but twice and did not get in until 3:00 AM. I had to get up at 5:30 AM. I’m seriously struggling today! Hope you get some rest tonight and you’re daughter is okay.
Also, you make that Alien eau Sublime sound sooooo good!
Dang, you got me beat! For me it was staying half asleep to listen and a full on wake up about 4 times.
Sorry you both had rough nights. I hope tonight is better 🙂
Thank you!
Great that you are able to take a long lunch for self-care. I hope your daughter feels better!
Thank you!, she’s doing well. I think she was just excited last night because today was a big trip to an animal park with her therapy group. She had a ton of fun and was able to feed some animals. Fortunately, this time, the goats didn’t eat her shirt!?
Yay you for doing some self-care! Especially after your poor night of sleep. I hope you get a really good one tonight. ?⭐ BTW, glad to hear that your daughter’s clothes survived this latest field trip. ?
Ha! Thanks. I’ve learned to always get her clothes on a good sale, they rarely make it past a season.
I love many of the OJ florals in summer- Frangipani, Osmanthus, Tiare, Sampaquita. I’m in Tiare today to represent them all! Gosh I smell good!
Sounds like you made the perfect choice!
Thank you 🙂
This was supposed to show up under KellyC’s comment about me wearing Chanel No. 5 today. I am not sure what I did to post it all the way down here.
You’re welcome! 🙂
I’m in Hermes Vanille Galante today, and I’ve decided I need to wear it a lot more often. It’s so good!
It is!
Tauer L’Eau today. I find this one very interesting if not traditionally beautiful: it’s a citrus cologne but not a cologne. In other news I am struggling to get a new summer routine going, a lot of procrastination of tasks. I usually take a couple of weeks to recover from my school year but this year the recovery seems harder (maybe I’m just getting too old!) Vacation Saturday; will really need to kick my to-do list in high gear upon return.
A difficult perfume, a non fresh musky citrus. Maybe better in the cold
Enjoy your vacation!
I’m wearing Tom Ford’s Fleur de Portofino on his very hot and muggy day.
What’s it like?
I stood near a Tom Ford counter last week, but seeing all those blue (the portofino line) and brown (all the oud variants) bottles with almost similar names almost made it look like ‘ work’ 😉 haha
This is exactly how I feel in front of the Tom Ford display.
Me three! And will add in my case, much work for very little reward — I am not a fan.
Jicky for garden work.
We had a guy there for cutting our giant cherry trees. Then
we decided to make cherry Brandy, so now we have to collect 120liters of cherry, wash them, mash und macerate und get them to a private distillery in 4 weeks….
Lots of work, but we want to try it out. If we manage we will have a lifetime supply of this?
I could take some of that brandy off of your hands. . . it would be fun to bake with! ?
A couple of tblsps added to a pound cake batter would be lovely….or add some to chocolate ganache? ?
I like the way you think!
I was imagining a flourless chocolate cake with cherry sauce . . . ??
And Ede had all those great ideas about liquor in frozen desserts last week! A little added to some sorbet could be magic.
Ooh, that sounds wonderful!
That sounds really cool! I hope it works out. ?
Looking forward to reading NST comments this evening–but wanted to jump in with Good Girl Gone Bad, which is almost Good Girl Go Bye Bye… I got this bottle for a steal when a local business liquidated their entire stock, so I’ve given away far more of it than I’ve worn myself. Well worth it. The best perfume is when you have enough to share. A few applications from thunk– I really doubt I will bother replacing the bottle ever, but I have enjoyed this peachy osmanthus bombshell. It is perfect for this cool, sunny day.
Any rainy day so Satori, which I love but I can smell better on humid days.
Sounds like you found a perfumed silver lining to the grey clouds.
Wore Cap Neroli today. It tried but couldn’t quite cut through the humidity. (Need vintage Aliage for that.) We met up with some old friends who are in town for a few day. Took a walk through Central Park. Almost oppressively heavy air until the skies opened up and the deluge started. At least a bit of a breeze came through after….until the second squall hit.
If you’d looked at my hair, you’d think I didn’t have an umbrella. I did. My hair was wet from sweat… not damp. Thoroughly wet like I got out of the shower. I know…TMI. But good grief.
haha! at least you get to walk in Central Park! I’m jealous. 😀
And smell fantastic too.
I hope that your friends get some nice weather while they are visiting!
Very humid here too!
Posting rather late for me. The governor of NJ posted a state of emergency for the county I live in due to all the rain that has fallen this week. A lot of towns here have had around 5 inches. That much water falling on already saturated ground is a recipe for a giant mess.
Fortunately, I am OK. So is Mr. Jalapeno’s commute. I am heartily sick of wet weather. And it’s not even the first day of summer yet!
SOTD = back in Wrappings today. I’ve been wearing dry scents to offset all the squishy weather. Please send the sun here!
Wrappings is SO GOOD. You smell fantastic!
Stay dry 😀 I remember when I moved from the Rocky Mountains to NJ it took me a few months of getting soaking wet to remember to take an umbrella with me everywhere everyday!
I have a couple of rain jackets/coats for this kind of weather. They are definitely a smart investment!
I am SO missing the Rockies and arid summer weather.
I hear you… hoping for a dry weekend.
Saturday’s forecast is looking very nice so far. I hope it stays that way!
I hear you sister and I am equally sick of the weather!
I was shocked to see the damage to some of the PATCO stations in the area. Mr. Jalapeno used to commute in/out of one of them. It had a few inches of water in it, plus some of the ballast had been washed out from under the train tracks.
That’s crazy rain! I didn’t know it was creating such a mess. Hopefully the weather starts behaving starting tomorrow ?
It IS crazy! I didn’t know things were that bad until I got a very concerned email from a friend asking if we were all right. Then I started poking around the Internet to see what was up.
OMG, you are smelling so fantastic!
With all that rain, be extra careful around tall trees because the saturated soil can loosen them, they can fall when you wouldn’t expect it; even way after the rain has stopped. Results can be disastrous.
Thanks Gail! We’ve had a couple of trees fall over in common areas in my development this spring due to the rain. Fortunately, no one’s car or house was damaged.
Late check in today. Started out in the last bits of JM Silk Blossom from a sample. It’s a nice summer floral, but not something I need.
I tried the new Dame perfume, Chilehead, also from a generous sample. It’s got lots of cumin and mint, quite masculine. It’s something quite different from the house!
I don’t mind cumin in perfume, but masculine bothers me.
I’m okay with a little cumin, like the level in Rose 31, but this one crosses the threshold for me.
It’s a very good fragrance, though, and there’s a great deal going on in there.
I put on some Calyx by Prescriptives tonight; guess needed a fun scent.
Like others, we had rain today, although we can use it so I won’t complain too loudly. Hoping for sun and warmth this weekend!
The Prescriptives version of Calyx is wonderful!
Cafe Tuberosa throughout the day, then Berdoues Vanira Moorea for commute home. The latter is a nice, inoffensive vanilla citrus that I will enjoy but this decant is enough.
Got two fig scents in my scentbird box yesterday, both duds for me:
Malin+Goetz Moroccan Fig, which I must be slightly anosmic to. Or there’s just nothing there. Every once in a while I’d get a whiff of sweetness that was figgy, but then I don’t really experience figs as overly pungent so not sure what I could reasonably expect.
Molinard Fig didn’t work because the cedar came across for me as the strongest note, and I seem to only tolerate cedar when it’s a barely perceptible supporting player.
