It’s our usual weekend open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, your latest fragrance layering success, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

SB Gypsy.
It’s a ghost town this morning…
It is! But it’s a gorgeous Father’s Day weekend here, hope everybody is outside doing something fun!
Fendi Palazzo
Their best bottle ever.
ZOTM is . . . nothing, yet.
The next sample in the box is T rex, and after comments about it smelling like meat, I’m not sure I can handle that today. . . ?
I didn’t get “meat”, but it’s intense for sure. Not an out-of-the-house sampler for me…
Good to know!
After the Hyrax = poop situation, I know better than to assume they’re safe!
Definitely one house where it might be best to spray on the back of the hand, in order to more easily scrub off if/when needed.
Oh, I just LOVE T-Rex. It’s so deep, dark, and smoky. I don’t get the raw meat at all. Strong floral elements come through after awhile and make it so beautiful. It reminds me of LL Patchouli 24 which I also love, but it’s prettier.
Calypso, I never got an email from you with your mailing address for the Freebie Meet. Drop me a line so I can get your sample out: missgoldsmithwieldsaneedle AT gmail DAWT com
And based on your description, I clearly need to test T-Rex more thoroughly!
Oops! Writing you now. So sorry.
T-rex was more of an incense bomb on me, but I can see how the sweetish floral/vaguely metallic/musk combo might come across as meaty.
SOTM – Mediterraneo.
I lost my dear, sweet golden retriever on Tuesday. Haven’t been able to wear fragrance other than a little Essential Faith for comfort (primarily because of the name). I think she would approve of Mediterraneo for broken heart recovery. She was almost 14 and I know she had a long and well-loved life, but I miss her so much. I know many of you have pets and have been through this. Thanks for listening.
I am so sorry – how difficult. Wishing you strength and healing
Thank you, I appreciate the well wishes so much.
I’m so sorry to hear this, D. Thinking of you and wishing you comfort.
Thanks, S!
Oh springpansy, I’m so very sorry. Hugs to you.
Thank you!
I’m so very sorry, springpansy. Hugs to you .
Thanks, G. I will take all the hugs.
Sorry to hear of your loss. ?
Thank you, MissG!
I’m so sorry for your loss. Pets become our family members, and it’s always extremely painful to loose them. Sending you warm thoughts.
Yes, she was an important member of the family – me, Mr. SP and our three adult sons and we all cried. Thanks!
I am so sorry Springpansy! It is so sad. Sending you comforting hugs.
Thank you, M! I appreciate it.
I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved dog! In the past I’ve always consoled myself by saying my dogs had the best lives they could while with me.
Thanks. And I agree. I just miss her.
I’m sorry for your loss. I hope you find comfort in your memories of her and the knowledge that you gave her a happy home and a lifetime of love.
Thanks, Cat. She did have a good life!
So sorry springpansy.
Thanks, Robin!
I’m so sorry about your loss
Thanks, Tea!
So sorry for you
Thanks, Tannina!
Omg, I’m so sorry! We’re sending you hugs! ??
Thanks, R. Please give TRex an extra hug from me today.
What was your dog’s name? I will throw a pinecone for her when I am out in the forest with my dogs today. Thinking of you.
Her name was Kersey. Thank you!
What a great name.
I also so sorry for your loss. Wishing you comfort and healing.
Thanks, Jirish. I appreciate it.
I’m sorry to hear that.
Thanks, Gaynor.
Thank you so much, everyone, for your kindness. I did feel a big NST hug coming over the Internet!
Oh springpansy!
I’m am so sorry.
Thank you, apsara!
I’m so sorry. What a long, beautiful life. But it’s so much a loss. Thinking of you.

Thank you very much.
I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved doggie. Sending you comforting hugs.
Thanks, T.
Oh, dear, that is so sad. They are such dear sweet and sometimes goofy dogs. It’s very hard.
Thanks – exactly: dear, sweet and goofy. And a faithful companion who was always happy to see me!
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is truly heartbreaking, I’ve been there too.? Hugs to you springpansy.
Thanks, P!
So sorry for your loss, springpansy. May your memories of Kersey live on.
Thank you – so many great memories.
I’m sorry to hear that springpansy, sending you hugs.
Thank you!
I’m so sorry! Sending you hugs. Remember to be gentle with yourself and take a few minutes away when you need to.
My condolences to you on your loss. Wishing you peace and love in this difficult time.
My condolences to you springpansy, on having to say goodbye to your beloved Golden. It hurts so much to lose a furry family member who has been a part of your life for so long. Hugs.
My condolences, SpringPansy. I am so sorry for your loss.
So very sorry for the loss of your darling dog. But indeed as a beloved pet it’s been a good life.
Hugs.
I’m sorry. A small word for a big loss.
I’m trying Nuit de Cellophane from just the cutest little mini I got as part of a Luckyscent GWP. I really like it, although I’m really not getting much besides osmanthus? But it’s a really pretty osmanthus.
I love osmanthus but was disappointed with that one…I think Jessica was right that it was perhaps geared towards markets that like cleaner, lighter fragrances.
I think this sounds great – I like light and I like osmanthus. *Adds to sample list.*
Happy weekend everyone! It’s 33°C outside today and a storm started a while ago. Now I’m sitting in my room but I feel as if I was in the middle of Amazon jungle, it’s so humid.
Question for you – I’m attending a cousin’s wedding in a couple of days. What perfume would you wear? Something more toned down or ‘go bold or go home?
Today I am in Atelier des Ors Nuda Veritas.
Re: cousin wedding–is it a small, intimate, possibly indoor event? Then I would go toned down.
If it’s a big, social, shindig, complete with dance floor, go big or home!
I think it’s going to be a medium sized wedding. And it will be in the ballroom with possible balcony or terrace.
Hmm. Sounds more elegant than a bash or a shindig. . .
At my cousin’s wedding a few weeks ago, I wore Chanel Bois des Iles.
I went with something that (to me) felt elegant but wouldn’t call undue attention. I didn’t want people sitting near me during the ceremony thinking, “Whoa!” At the same time, I wanted a perfume I love, that’s not wimpy.
I was thinking of going with my darling Prada Amber Pour Homme.
Yes! Love this one.
And if it’s an outdoor event make sure the perfume doesn’t attract skeeters…
Or bees. ???
But I love bees ?
Are there particular notes well known for attracting insects? Or is it just trial and error with your own fragrance wardrobe?
Good question!
I’ve definitely noticed that some scents attract bees while I’m gardening, but I haven’t been methodical about testing it.
Unless your weather improves significantly, you’re limited in your perfume choices anywhere 😉
I would suggest wearing something that you like and know that it would stay on your skin/clothes for hours. If the wedding is more on a formal side, then choose something elegant (Chanel Boy? But you’ll need a decant in your pocket to re-apply it). If it’s more like a party, do your favorite citrus or anything else from Atelier.
Chanel Boy sounds like a great suggestion. I think next week won’t be so hot anymore.
Otherwise I could wear my new Chanel Paris-Deauville as well. Or Clementine California. Or Infusion de Mandarine from Prada. ?
Eau Sauvage.
Classy. But I don’t like its current formulation. The old one was gorgeous though.
I just read that as “Eau Sausage!” ?
Bois du Portugal?
I don’t even know this one.
I think it’s Creed Bois du Portugal.
Yes
Moonlight patouchli? It is rather languid and romantic, and I can imagine it working well on a warm evening breeze.
Why not!
I think you should wear whatever makes you feel the most festive and present
I would go with Paris-Deauville! Enjoy the wedding!
Hi everyone! I took the day off today for my son’s 17th birthday. I just can’t believe how time passes. We were going to go to the zoo, but the weather is not going to cooperate, so we will try the botanical gardens, since alot of that is indoors. Thanks to the freebiemeet, I’m wearing Arielle Shoshana for the first time. I am trying to smell fun, lol, and I do!
Happy Birthday to your son, Lillyjo. I hope you have a great time today celebrating! ????. You smell delicious!
Happy birthday to your son lillyjo!? I hope you both enjoy every minute of your day today!??
The time really does fly…hope he has a great birthday despite the uncooperative weather!
I hope you have a lovely day together. Lucky you
Congratulations to you and Happy Birthday to your son!
Happy Birthday to your son, lillyjo! I hope you both enjoyed the day.
Happy birthday to your son, hope you had fun!
Happy birthday to your son, lillyjo!
Thanks everyone! It was a great day!
So glad you had a lovely day, and many happy returns to your son.
It sounds like you had a great day! Wishing your son a belated Happy Birthday. ??
Mattress shopping is a total pain! But we do love our Serta.
Whoops – wrong place. Happy birthday to your son!
Belated Happy Birthday wishes for your son, lillyjo! ???
Not wearing anything at the moment as this afternoon I am going to a perfume meetup and want to make sure I have plenty of skin acreage.
Perfume meetup-fun!
Have fun!
Please tell us about it afterwards
I know how fun that is ?
Busy weekend doing tons of things at home. I am wearing and thunking many samples this weekend. Righ now, I am in Isabey Fleur Nocturne. Heavy, sweet white flower scent. Very loud for the first hour, but now after 3 hours is almost gone. Nice, but not full bottle worthy for me.
I recently tested an Isabey scent and also thought it was nice, but not fb worthy for me either. Have fun thunking!?
I have tried a couple of perfumes from Isabey before and even though they are nice, none of them have moved my heart yet. Money saved!
I’m in OJ Champaca.
We had a new mattress delivered this morning. After almost 2 years (seriously?) of hemming and hawing, sitting/laying on probably 20+ matresses, mr. mt and I finally made a decision. I was starting to feel like Goldilocks, almost every mattress that we tried was way too squishy. I’m not a fan of the pillow top either. I was tempted by the idea of a Casper mattress, but ultimately was too leery to buy something I was going to spend hours and hours on without even trying it. In the end we went local and got a Serta. Let’s hope it’s a perfect sleeper!?Too late now, lol.
It’s such a tough thing to buy, isn’t it? I need a few nights to find out if I’ll really be comfortable. I wish there was a way to sample them for a sleep. I hope it’s perfect for you!
Oh man did I hate mattress shopping! Nothing more awkward than laying down on a mattress in an empty store with a sales person or three watching over you!
Wait… What do you mean “too late”? Don’t they have 30 or even 60 day period during which you can at least exchange if not return it? I hope though you won’t need to return it. Sweet dreams!
We are happy twins in Champaca! New mattress is exciting.
Ugh, thinking about getting a new mattress too and realizing I know nothing about mattresses.
Mattress shopping is a total pain! But we do love our Serta, so hope you will love yours!
I’m in Gucci Bloom again! But weather is awful, hope we get some sun!
So I mentioned last week how Coromandel called my name in the Heathrow duty free. I bought a 75 ml bottle bargaining that this would be an attractive split for this community. And since I am itching to open the bottle, here goes!
The price for 10 ml comes to $35 including shipping, etc. Glass atomizer. I am looking for 3 splitters. Madtowngirl expressed some interest so I will reserve a spot for her.
If you are interested please comment below and email me at yasminazsquared land of geemale!
And I should have mentioned I can only ship to CONUS!
Oh good! I just emailed you!?
I’m emailing right now!
I am interested! Will email now!
Beyond Love
Taking Mr L to sugar hill creamery in Harlem for ice cream for father’s day
Just found out our ? has hyperthyroidism , poor kitty
Otto Mi Gato has hyperthyroidism, too. I rub a topical medication (methimazole) in his ear twice a day.
We are giving him some pills twice a day..
I feel so bad for him. He has lost so much weight and that’s what prompted the visit to the doctor
If you can get the pills down him, they will definitely work. You should see him bounce back soon.
Oh! I need to ask vet about that. Our kitty has become a master at not getting her pills. She’s hard to handle (former feral) so we try to hide in food, in treats and she only gets them all sometimes. Frustrating.
Yeah, Otto is not so good with the pill taking, to state it mildly. Ear cream, while not his favorite thing, is manageable enough that I don’t get anxious about him getting enough of his meds. If you go this route, you might also want to buy finger cots (little rubber tips for your finger) so that you don’t absorb any of the medication.
Poor kitty! Hope the treatment helps.
Hope he’s back to himself soon!
Aw, I hope that the meds will help with your kitty Lovestosmellgood.
Pre-dawn and we are told to expect snow in the next day or two so I am wearing Lux, a sample from the perfume temptress Gaynor. A boiled-sweet lemon with a touch of resin. Nice on a cold, greyish day. I had a lovely time yesterday reading New Yorker magazines sent to me by an old friend, who, in turn gets them from the subscriber, someone I have never met but feel grateful to. It was of those days of being so absorbed in reading that time passes and you don’t notice until the light fades, and you realise it’s time to close the curtains and start preparing dinner
What I lovely mental image. I wish I had the time-space to read like that. Enjoy
I’m chuffed to know you’re enjoying the samples I passed on 🙂
Lux unfortunately smelled like furniture polish on me, but I love many of the Mona di Orios. I love a big reading fest too.
Wearing Chanel Paris-Venise because reading Lucas’s review on the most recent addition to the line reminded me that I haven’t worn this one in a while. I’m glad that Chanel still “has it” while it feels like Dior goes down with all their revamps and reformulations. At least that’s how I feel.
Well put!
I was all excited last week about wearing green things that fitted the CP, then I had such a busy week that I didn’t participate beyond OJ Woman on Tuesday. Although I wore Hiris yesterday without even thinking of a connection until I read KellyC and tiffanie’s comments at the end of the day.
It’s a gloriously sunny morning here, one of those fabulous winter days that is such a treat after some very dull and wet days. I’ll celebrate with Mito EdP, just a bit later than I’d intended.
The sky has cleared here too. I have so enjoyed your samples…all thunked now!
You smelled great! I’m still upset I didn’t get Mito while it was available.
I wish I’d bought a bottle of Mito too!
Tried Houbigant Quelques Fleurs l’Original this morning. I thought that was quite pleasant. If I wear something later, it will be something light and sheer.
I remember that one from long ago, lovely !
I had that one in the ’80s and missed it so much I got an old bottle from ebay. I love it–you smell fab!
Thanks!
Sorry, wrong place.
Heading out for a lunch of Korean fried chicken and biscuits for my boyfriend’s birthday. I’m wearing Vetiver Oriental and the spooky earrings he bought me for my birthday: https://www.whileodinsleeps.com/product-page/spo0oo00oky-polly
We might also see the new Jim Jarmusch zombie comedy The Dead Don’t Die. He’ll see what he’s in the mood for once we’re out! He’s wearing DSH Halloween.
You smell great!
What fun earrings!
Okay, now I want to hunt down Korean fried chicken and biscuits. Sounds amazing. Sadly, I doubt it could be found in my hood.
Am at airport with my dearest sister.
One flight each behind us and four more to go. Finally the day of Africa safari has come! Just a touch of satori for early flight
Packed a travel size tigers nest and that’s about it.
Happy Travels to you and your sister! ✈️
Sounds like a great time , enjoy
Have a super great wonderful time!
Bon voyage!
Five flights! Wowza! I hope you two have a great vacation
Have fun and safe travels! That’s a lot of flying!?
Have fun!
Have a wonderful time! Exciting!
YAY — can’t wait to hear about it when you get back!
Wearing Nina Ricci Deci Dela. If only I could tell my 90’s self that I finally bought it! It seems to be a well done fruity floral, very good for late spring, but longevity sucks.
Did your 90s self want it and couldn’t have it?
I’m wearing Zoologist Chameleon today, which is one of the ones of theirs I put in the winner category. It’s unusual but not weird or gimmicky or off-putting. I’m always a sucker for ylang-ylang dominant scents and this is, but balanced and made more complex by citrus, something salty, coconut, mango, and frangipani. I love the result.
Had a trying time visiting Mom today because her memory is worse all the time. Tonight I plan to cook a dish I’m making up with fresh gigantic shrimp, lemons, capers, tomatoes, black olives, and orzo pasta, with lots of tarragon. Seriously, the label on the shrimp is “Colossal “!
Sorry it was difficult with your mom today. So hard.
Chameleon caught my attention because of the bottle. It sounds nice. I’m sorry about your mom, I know it’s hard.
So sorry your mom is declining in such a brutal way. It’s terrible to witness. ☹️ Do you have any other family to help and/or lend support?
Thanks to all. My brother is in touch but has his own family issues with in-laws up in Wisconsin, so it mostly falls on me. I have some supportive friends, but it’s still very tough. Mom can’t conceptualize her situation which makes it very hard to cope with. I appreciate everyone’s support.
Thinking of you. It’s hard to watch family lose who they are as their memory gets worse. I hope Chameleon is bringing you a little joy.
Again, thank you everyone. It’s so hard to stay calm and patient when she asks me three times in one conversation “Is this where I am living now? What is this place? Where is it?” and then asks “When can we go shopping together?”–I simply can’t manage her in her wheelchair now and she can’t walk on her own at all any more. Sigh. On a brighter note, my shrimp dinner was pretty yummy! You can see it here: (hope this link works)
https://www.flickr.com/photos/94283635@N00/48070484747/in/dateposted/
I so well remember this with my grandmother, and as my mother and I both get more forgetful, I can see the direct line!
Anyway, my grandmother would ask the same question 10 times over, clearly her brain was stuck in a loop and she could not help it, but that did not stop it from being annoying. She was easy to distract, though, is your mom? (easy to distract, that is)
Thinking of you Calypso. I hope your shrimp were delicious and that today is an easier day for you.
Hugs, Calypso.
Chameleon sounds like a stunning scent for your hot and humid climate. I’m sorry you’re facing such a sad situation with your mother. I sometimes feel that this world is so focussed on ‘fixing’ things that we don’t appreciate the true value of ‘doing your best’ . You are such a good woman.
So sorry to hear about your mom, Calypso, I hope she is doing somewhat better today. At least you were able to treat yourself to a fantastic meal, it sounded amazing!
So sorry about your mother, Calypso, perhaps after she’s settled in her new situation her memory will improve too.
Wishing you strength.
Went out sniffing today, as Etiket Montréal had a visitor from Goldfield & Banks for their new launch, Velvet Splendour. It was a yummy mimosa, tonka & opoponax scent.
Then I went to Ogilvy Holt Renfrew to retest FM Iris Poudre, Le Parfum de Thérèse and Sale Gosse. As expected, both IP and LPdT have been reformulated, but they are still wearable. Not sure if I would spend the $ or not though. Sale Gosse was a cheerful orange blossom. SL Fille en Aguilles is now in the $$$ black skyscraper bottle. It still smells good, but longevity has been affected. My sniffing companion tried Chanel Gardénia and Beige and also remarked on a lack of longevity. It seems scents are now front-loaded for instant purchase, but longevity is gone along with the base notes. Good thing we still have reliable indie perfumers to create things that pack a punch!
Did you get Velvet Splendour?
My husband got it for me for our anniversary next week. 🙂 I plan to wear it today.
Yay, so love at first sniff! Congrats on the anniversary and training hubby very well ?
I put a sample of Velvet Splendour in my Luckyscent cart (right now the cart has 8 samples) last week, and now that I’ve heard your positive take on it, I will be sure to try it.
That sounds gorgeous. I love mimosa
I have a fragrance ingredient question if anyone can help.Pacifica spray perfumes say they use natural grain denatured alcohol.Had anyone used that type of alcohol for making their own fragrances and is it something that you need to order or can you find something similar in a liquor store? Thank you!
I would do a search on perfumer’s alcohol and order that, or buy Everclear at the liquor store if it’s legal in your state.
Agreed. Perfumer’s alcohol, made of grain alcohol, is 100% alcohol so it’s your best bet. It’s denatured which means it has additives that make it toxic for consumption (that’s really the only point of denaturing), and also means that it can be sold more cheaply.
If you’re just starting to experiment, Everclear, or any other brand of grain liquor with 95% + alcohol works fine and is easy to source. Lower percentages of alcohol mean higher percentages of water, into which oils won’t dissolve. I think this video demonstrates this property nicely!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOCfmdS85Lw
Thanks for sharing the video. I use isopropyl alcohol to clean my glass perfume sample vials to reuse them.
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
People, I did not mention this yesterday because I was still absorbing what happened – I came thisclose, again, to meeting my Maker…an SUV ran the red light at high speed a full minute AFTER the Route 1 north and southbound lanes were stopped by the red light. Had I gone just a second faster, I would have been hit right on the driver’s side. I have a lot to be thankful for.
In other news, Marshall’s has 100mL Commodity Tonka for $16.99.
In more other news, I had my car serviced this morning – oil change and something that the manufacturer recalledSOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
In other news, I had my car serviced this morning: an oil change and a repair associated with a manufacturer’s recall although I have not experienced the problem. This is newsworthy because the service center now provides free bagels and cream cheese / butter. I’ve been going to the dealer’s service department ever since I got my car in 2012. I was happy when they offered bottled water and I would always walk to the Seven Eleven to get coffee and my 2x a year pork roll fix (it’s a Jersey thing). Then, a few years later, they offered coffee (either regular or decaf), then the coffee machine was replaced with a fancier one with a menu of 8 choices and then this year, bagels and they got rid of the useless accessories display and yucky coffee table and replaced it with a round table with 2 chairs where I happily sat eating my sesame bagel with cream cheese! What will they think of next?
And PSA, Marshall’s has 100mL Commodity perfumes for $16.99. The only one available today was Tonka. I snagged a Commodity Orris soap for $6.99!
Oh boy, not sure how my comments doubled up in the same comment. Please ignore the duplicate sections!
The $16.99 is the candle, the boxes are almost identical to the EDPs.
You’re going to make me go back to Marshall’s aren’t you? Thanks for setting the record straight!
Thank God you are ok! How incredibly scary for you.
I saw Commodity at my TJ Maxx, but it was 39.99
Cool service center, mine has bottled water and cookies and a big puzzle.
Thank you, lillyjo.
Holy Krakatoa Batman! Takes a while for that adrenaline to subside, right? Happy you’re all in one Happy Hajusuuri Piece! Maybe celebrate with something nice, like, oh, I don’t know… a bottle of perfume?! ?
Oh yes and the only way I was able to function was I paid it forward by showing concern for a fellow commuter whom I know by sight only.
And looking forward to a bottle or two or … I am eyeing the new Hiram Green and the new Papillon. I also already did retail therapy at Brighton Collectibles.
Good choices! I am looking forward to both of those as well. Glad to hear you are safe and sound.
I’m so glad to hear you’re OK!
Thank you, sistine!
Holy cow! So glad you are ok.
I hope you enjoy the Commodity goodies. My local Sephora carried this line so I was able to sample Orris several months back. Going to find my sample and drain it.
Thank you, Gail.
That’s so scary! Glad you didn’t get hurt
Thank you, yasmina. Gotta do defensive driving all the time as some people are so distracted or don’t care they do things like run red lights. That said, my car’s pick up is low average and I also switched to the lower octane gas just last week when the tank was almost empty so the Big Guy was really watching out for me.
Holy crap. That is a nasty near miss! I am really relieved to hear that you are all right after that.
Thank you, jalapeño!
Good grief, I am glad you are okay, Haju. That reminds me of my close calls when I am merging onto the highway at 11:00 at nite after work and narrowly miss getting flattened by an 18-or-such wheeler. Your heart just leaps into your throat.
Thank you, GateGirl. The driver on my right was equally stunned.
A scary experience, you smell great and so happy you’re still with us to tell the tale.
Yesterday was Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant, which after I put it on didn’t smell to me like the CP. Oh, well. Hadn’t worn it in a while and it was nice to pull it out again.
Today was Hermetica Rosefire, and I’ve been sniffing and sampling as I packaged things up for the freebie meet, so now I’m wearing like 6 things.
Saw Carmen last night. Such a fantastic production. The singing was great, but so was the set design and lighting. I love how shadow can be used to such good effect, or a subtle glow in a field of darkness.
Tonight I saw “Late Night”, which was very funny, with some very serious and heartfelt sections. I recommend.
Oh, did not know about Late Night…two of my favorite people, so glad I saw your comment!
I think Late Nite is opening in my town’s little indie theater soon. Emma Thompson just looks fantastic in it from the few photos I’ve seen.
Emma’s wardrobe is fantastic in the film. I would love to shop it!
SL Vetiver Oriental to get me through a day of So. Over. It! ?
I hope the day passes quickly for you, so you can get over it fast!
A request – is there anybody out there in possession of Botrytis, by Ginestet, who would be willing to part with their bottle or a decant, for love or money? 🙂
That is some gorgeous stuff. I had a sample once and just could not bring myself to spend the money to purchase an entire bottle.
Same here – that was back when $110 a bottle seemed prohibitively expensive. 🙂
?? funny!
Same for me, also.
I have only a dabber sample of Botrytis, but if you would like it I will send it to you Lisa D.
Thanks, Jalapeno, but I am greedily looking for the opportunity to spray it with abandon. I’ve got a small decant – that one of you wonderful people sent me last year – and every time I use it, I watch the level go down with a little twinge of sadness.
Keep your sample, and send me lucky perfume treasure hunting thoughts!
OK, good perfume hunting mojo is headed your way!
I’m wearing Odeur 53 today. It is just so fabulous. The gigantic bottle feels absolutely ridiculous, but I suspect it’ll be finished by this time 15 years from now.
My thoughts are with anyone for whom Father’s Day is difficult. I have friends who hate today either because of their relationship with their fathers or because they have lost them. I hope you can find some peace today if it is hard for you. Hugs.
I love that name, Odeur 53, it’s strangely compelling.
Father’s Day can be tough. My heart goes out to anyone struggling today.
My mother had a difficult time with her own father, was divorced from my father, remarried and my stepfather became my Dad.
Her mother was divorced and remarried, so I had a wonderful step-grandpa too. And my mother’s father felt such guilt over his poor parenting that he overcompensated as a grandpa and spoiled me rotten.
Let’s just sum up and say I have enjoyed complicated father-daughter relationships my whole life. ?
Complications here too. To me it is just another day. But I hope everyone on the contrary had/are having a good time with their papas.
Thanks sistine.
SotD = Fendi Theorems
One of the best blind buys ever, tho I have but a tiny mini bottle. I love it so.
Somehow I let the entire winter go by without wearing it. It’s a cool day here, low 70s, so Theorema is wafting gently around me.
Happy Father’s Day to those who observe, and hugs to all who are parents, mentors, teachers, leaders, and caregivers. You make the world a better place ?
I was wearing Theorema earlier today – it is lovely. You smell marvelous.
The whole city is out shopping today. Shouldn’t the fathers get to just stay home and watch sports, or fix a car or something? Sotd is Coco Noir which I’m starting to associate with this job. When I leave here, I probably won’t wear it anymore.
Lots of Dads at one of the regional shopping malls out by me. I know that the restaurants are probably crazy today, especially if they serve steak or beer.
We were very busy today at work. We had the big parties come in for lunch, and then after a lull the same for dinner. Lots of kids today, too, obvs. But things went smoothly, so that’s always a good thing.
There was a father and son behind me at the Marshall’s check out line. The father was trim and looked to be in good shape and was buying what looked to me like a button down shirt. The son was doughy and loud. I heard the son say, “Hey dad, I think I can fit into that shirt if I lose weight, exercise more and don’t button the shirt.” The dad was realistic and said he doesn’t think so.
A dirty Monday morning here, 3 degrees and light snow is blowing across the hilltops, though nothing so exciting where we are, just sloppy rain. The dogs are by the door, whinnying and looking dejected but I’m not budging. A row of sparrows are lined up outside, taking turns to peck at the stale bread I’ve put out. They keep shaking their feathers. So, what’s a girl to do? A summer scent, I think. JM Honeysuckle and Davana with a spray of Silk Blossom on the side. A warm kitchen, mug of coffee and a day of writing awaits.
Final sentence explains the paragraph. What do you write, Kanuka?
Unsettled, summer-like weather here today. There’s already been one round of rain showers today, but it was brief, and the sun came back out quickly after. More showers are in the forecast for later on, though.
Father’s Day is a melancholy day for me. My own dad passed away shortly after my 23rd birthday. Mr. Jalapeno’s dad is gone for almost 3 years now.
I had a quick sniffing trip earlier today: mostly to LUSH, to pick up more of my favorite shower gel for summer, Dirty. The American Cream shower gel was one of the new ones I was able to sniff, and I rather enjoyed that one. I’d call it a light floral aldehyde… rather pretty. Avocado Wash was a solid YUCK!
SOTD = back in Midnight Poison again, along with the Wrapping Body Smoother lotion. I think I have fallen in love with the lotion. It smells GREAT and does a good job of moisturizing, which isn’t a given with scented lotions.
Should be “Wrappings” lotion! Missed the typo. Hmph!
Joining you with the melancholy day. I had just turned twenty when I lost my dad.
Glad you got to go sniffing, I probably wouldn’t have been brave enough to try the avocado one! Wondering.. have you ever purchased from beautyencounter? I’m being tempted but don’t have experience shopping with them.
Lillyjo, I have bought stuff from Beauty Encounter before and had no issues with them. Pretty sure that is where I picked up some rather nice Amouage manufacturer samples. And one of my Agent Provocateur bottles. They are legit, if that is what you are wondering.
Thanks Jalapeno.
So sorry Jalapeno that you feel the loss of your father. I still think too of all the mother’s days without my mother.
SOTweekend:
Friday: Armani Si. Fabu stuff and always reminds me of Cate
Blanchette lounging about in those fantastic outfits in the
copy.
Saturday: Simply Belle. Wasn’t expecting much but was quite
surprised by this one; I loved the pretty powderyness of it.
I just wish it had more longitivity.
Sunday: some basic Spun Orange Blossom that I bought from the
Gap a million years ago. I usually spray some of this or its
ilk if I’m in a hurry or just don’t know what to wear.
Tomorrow: day off, so no scent. Sometimes I like to give my skin a
break.
🙂
Hi! I’m new. Currently obsessed with Mrs. Meyers Radish soap. Getting an oil diffuser soon, and wondering if I can replicate the Radish scent with a custom blend. Does anyone know what notes to include?
I smell like a lovely sample cloud, thanks to the freebiemeet:)
