Saturday is National Sense of Smell Day and Independent Bookstore Day (go smell a book!), and Sunday is Superhero Day. We're celebrating all the holidays with our basic weekend open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the fragrance you'd be wearing if the weather would cooperate, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Putain des Palaces ELDO
Smelling great Bear!
Smelling great Bear! 🙂
I am in the green and red weirdness that is Lutens Chypre Rouge. Pine needles and Red Hots come to mind. This is one of the scents that made me a Serge fangirl, way back when.
Sorry, didn’t realize that I was replying to you, Bear! You are, of course, smelling wonderful (or wonderfully slutty, if one takes the literal translation of Putain de Palaces to heart) today.
One of my favourites too. Does it last well for you? I love it but it fades disappointingly quickly.
Gaynor, if you were asking about Chypre Rouge, on me it does last fairly well. Almost all from this line do, with the exception of 5 o’clock, to which I seem anosmic (unfortunate, because I love ginger).
Thanks all !
It lasts approximately 4 hours as a light veil. ??
Christopher Street by Charenton Macerations, a surprisingly contemporary green leather. I love the ones that combine a classic and modern vibe.
You small great! I don’t reach for this one nearly enough.
I love that fragrance, but I always forget about it too.
Carthusia Mediterraneo ?!
Smelling great!
Hey, twin!
??
I love the Carthusia line and had the pleasure of once again visiting one of their stores last Fall when I was in Capri, Italy.
No SOTD yet but can absolutely wear winter weight since it is in the 50s with the wind blowing!
We had a cousins’ get-together last night as one of our cousins and his wife are here visiting and we haven’t seen him in a long time! Where there’s family, there’s drama. I could have taken issue with things mentioned as to the reason for the visit but I decided to stuff myself with food instead. Said visiting cousin is a retired Episcopalian priest. He is amongst the older group of the cousins (my dad was #8 of 10 siblings) and so I barely knew him; however, when he was in divinity school in Canada, he used to send the younger cousins comic strips and puzzles from the newspapaer and we all thought he was so cool. Anyway, I was naughty and wore a TF fragrance, hoping he would ask me and I will have to answer truthfully ???.
Now I have to go figure out a superhero name for myself!
Oh you bad girl! Did you wear FF or Lost Cherry?
Lost Cherry because it was easily accessible but FF would have been better. Speaking of which, the latest Saks catalogue has a full page devoted to FF all spelled out. Oy vey.
And just recently I saw a store that just called it “Fabulous” and left it at that, but then didn’t cross out the profanity on the bottle image like some stores have.
Hahaha that makes me love you even more!
?
Hehehe! I got a chuckle about your perfumed shenanigans of last night!
I think I was born naughty. I got sent to the principal’s office the first day of kindergarten.
Hey, did I go to school with your cousin? What school did he go to?
He went to one in Toronto in the 70s. It would be so awesome if you actually know each other! You can PM me too!
Alas – “wrong” school. I went to Huron College in London, in the 80’s. Diocese next door.
Another crappy cold windy rainy day here in Montreal. I put on L’Instant Iris Millesime at 5:30am, have now switched to Iris Ganache for a trek out to a chocolate tasting.
Same here except no rain — we got soaked yesterday. Jealous of your chocolate tasting!
The chocolate tasting was yummy, it was all single origin dark chocolate. My favourites were the Jaguar (Mexico), Guatemala, and one made with maple sugar (forgot to ask the origin of the cacao). Very small artisanal operation, top quality, made here in Montreal less than a mile from my house. I bought 5 bars. 🙂
Wow!
Ooh, sounds yummy! Although you had bad weather, I’m glad you had a fun activity to do, anyway. 🙂
Please eat some chocolate for me!!! And send me a pic ???
Done! 🙂
????
Chocolate tasting, mmmm!
What is this mysterious l’instant? Related to the original?
Yes, it was a special iris-heavy limited edition they did for Christmas years ago. For me it’s the best version they ever did, I love iris and it works well in the scent.
Nice!
I never knew about that one. I love Iris in mostly all forms.
A chocolate tasting sounds like the perfect antidote to bad weather. I’m glad it was yummy.
YUM! Glad you got some goodies at the chocolate tasting. ?
That chocolate tasting sounds amazing !!
What is the name of the place?
Chocolats Monarque. Their tiny factory is at 5333 Casgrain, but they have several stores around town where you can buy their bars. My closest shop is Boucherie Lawrence on St. Laurent just above Fairmount.
Thank you, I will definitely try them.
Got an awesome swap package from a NSTer and am in Sensuous Nude. I love this one so much-such an easy no brainer warm weather scent! Spending the morning at the ballpark watching our best friend’s kids play.
I need to pull that out more often. Thanks for the reminder.
I have a bottle of SN from a freebie meet several years ago and I really enjoy it, especially in warm weather.
That was a good one. Wish Sensuous had done better — I just do not care for Modern Muse.
I don’t care for Modern Muse either but I love Sensuous and Sensuous Nude.
And its get my hair done day!! Huge cause for celebrating ?
Post shower Oud Palao because is damp and drizzly.
I love Oud Palao! I feel like I need a bottle, but something shiny and new always distracts me.
I completely understand.
I got my hair chopped yesterday!
Chopped like a big change? I got mine cut yesterday too but nothing really drastic.
No, same style.: page boy with bangs. My hair grows very quickly. 4 weeks after a cut, it seems to go from just right to too long anytime in the subsequent two weeks. When I go to the hairdresser, she knows what J mean when I say to chop it off!
Mine is chopped/ cropped always
Tiny pixie cut for almost 40 years now.
Still dithering over whether to go gray or not.
Where’s that royal baby??
Joining the party — that was my morning activity too, get the winter hair chopped off.
Hey I got a haircut yesterday too! Just a little trim of my usual pixie cut. I’m sure you are all looking fabulously well-tressed 🙂
Commando at the moment, I think I’m going to hit some samples that have piled up since I don’t have a big agenda outside of the house today (cleaning and organizing my office…. ) For Sense of Smell day I’m going to see if my husband can smell me after I try a handful of samples. His nose is his worst sense – he can hear me whisper three rooms away but doesn’t have a good sniffer.
Our husbands are complete opposites, mine can’t hear me whisper 3 feet away but he smells my perfume immediately 🙂
Hope your sampling yields some good stuff.
Mine can smell but has no clue what he is smelling, so amuses himself with random comments like “ah, cedar top note” or whatever.
This made me lol.
Mine describes everything as either incense or flowers…
lol, my bf thinks everything is “musky”
Mr. Jalapeno is usually the first person to smell skunk if we are both riding in the truck. However, the air vents on my side are typically closed, so I get a bit of a reprieve from the Eau de Pew!
Oh, I love the smell of skunk! At our old house, we would always have a family or two in our back yard. The babies are SO CUTE!
It’s drizzly and cold here. I wanted a flower scent so I’m wearing Givenchy Harvest Mimosa. Waiting for a delivery and I think I’ll bake something while I’m waiting.
Mm, you smell great. I’m going to bake bread later today.
Hi everyone!
My friend works at a bookstore and had been sweating over Independent Bookstore Day all month. Can’t wait to visit!
I’m in a recently discovered bottle of Gucci Accenti, launched right before Tom Ford came in and made it all sexy. This one smells like a lost Sophia Grojsman, perfumey peach and cloves. A gentle oriental. Absolutely lovely.
That does sound nice. I never heard of it. Is it still in production?
Sadly not. I don’t thing anything from the 90’s era survived Gucci’s license change(s?).
You can still get manufacturer samples at fragrance net. No affiliation. I got a few with my last order. Sadly, the top notes are off. It is a lovely one though.
That sounds lovely!
It’s a Nahéma PDT kind of day!
You smell lovely.
Nahéma is glorious!
Wonderful scent! ???
Woke up early and couldn’t get back to sleep. So I got up to do something productive; I put away my jewellery from the week.
Decided to put on a couple sprays of Iris Poudre and some Frederic Malle Iris handcream. I promptly fell back asleep and woke up at 9.
Thinking I will switch to Azuree after I finish my coffee; it feels chilly enough for it. I wonder if my hubby will say anything about it.
Aha, iris as sleep aid!
I’m wearing Azuree again today… the far drydown of it last night was really good! I was rather pleased to see that it had stuck around for that long, since I stopped smelling it after a while.
Azuree is gorgeous.
Fou d’Absinthe
Oh yum, have not worn that in ages.
I haven’t either. I really like that scent but always forget about it even though today I am wearing L’Artisan Nuit de Tubereuse.
Read Robin’s review of the new Hermès, which made me comment re Twilly. After my shower I used a Sonia Kashuk tuberose body butter, so Twilly was the natural choice for today. (Although I like Twilly mostly for the ginger.)
Have to wait till May 7 to see Avengers (at the Tuesday discount price – yes I already have tickets…) so I’m actively avoiding all superhero discussions.
My son watched it last night and it’s killing him that I’m not going until next weekend lol. He said he is going to have to barely talk to me all week so he doesn’t slip up.
LOL. Yeah, if it were up to me we’d go this Tuesday. But…the husband had a conflict. I only go to these types of movies on Tuesdays to get discount prices. Killing me I have to wait another week.
Cool here so far today, but the fog is backing off and the sun is coming out. SOTD is Hiram Green Dilettante. I pulled out my box of spring scents this week and am testing them out to see what stays and what goes. I think this one will go… I think I talked myself into liking this one, and that never works out in the end 🙂
We’re off to the SF symphony this evening, for our last scheduled concert of the season. Not sure what perfume I’ll wear for that (not Dilettante, that’s for sure).
SQUEEEEE! I will be in DC for a few days this coming week, and I booked a hotel that is a 10 minute walk from Arielle Shoshana. (Gotta get your priorities straight.) Looks like her Kickstarter is doing pretty well, I hope she meets her goal.
Location, location, location
I hope she does too – I really want to smell her new scent!
+1!! Very excited for her and I love the name.
Excellent planning! ?
Do report back!
Enjoy your evening!
Moving day!
No SOTD, since I didn’t think to leave anything unpacked. I hand-moved my collection to the new house last week, now the other stuff is getting moved by professionals. It feels a little weird to be just sitting around while they’re working so hard, but I guess that’s what we’re paying them for! So, now I am sitting with the kitties in a closed-up room, so none of us are in the way. They are NOT ok with all the goings-on. I look forward to all of us feeling more settled soon.
Oh wow, good luck with the move. How close / far have you moved?
I hope the move goes smoothly. Congratulations on the new house!
Congratulations! So nice to have paid movers rather than doing it yourself.
Congrats and good luck with the move! Hope that it isn’t too crazy.
How come no one told me about Angelica as a note in perfume? I had to find out by sniffing a divine odor to it’s source whilst in a little store. It was Hallo Sapa(Hello Soap)Angelica Herb soap to be exact. I am smitten. Floral with a somewhat beastly heart. Tell me about your favorite perfume featuring an Angelica note.
Eden Botanicals Angelica Root…the essential oil. And a little goes a long way.
I rather liked the Jo Malone Tuberose Angelica Cologne Intense when I had the chance to try it on skin. Quite pretty!
I like the Atelier Jasmin Angelique. You can find it @ Sephora. It is very refreshing and a lovely summer scent.
I enjoy angelica in Annick Goutal Musc Nomade. Victoria at Bois de Jasmin has written about this note.
I would say that my favorite one is Angelique by Papillon Perfumes. (I am assuming that angelica is among the notes although I don’t remember but I really like the scent and all the others in the line as well.)
I’m glad my sense of smell has held up. My eyes and ears are not fairing as well. Saw the doctor last week, and got refered for a hearing test. I’m off today and had a great morning shopping with my daughter. I tested Laguna, and all 4 Sephora Killians. Honestly, I didn’t like any of them. I am going to color my hair now, and wash it all off.
I liked one of the Kiliana but not enough to buy it. I hope your hearing test comes out ok!
Good luck at the hearing test!
My eyes are a disaster, but fortunately the sniffer still works. Good luck with the hearing test!
Best of luck with your hearing test! ?
Thanks all! I suspect I am paying now for all the early years of rock concerts and headphones.
I tested Black Phantom today and liked it, but at the price… I need to get a decant and absolutely fall on love with it.
I haven’t tried that one yet. My Sephora only has the 4 lower priced ones to test. They weren’t bad, but didn’t really capture my attention.
I liked the one with the cola note, but not enough to pay for it.
Glad you had a great morning with your daughter, I love those kind of days.☺️
I have been collecting perfumes for decades and have too many bottles to even count. Even though I have sampled a few Killians, I have never owned a bottle of anything from that line (and several other lines as well).
The weather is perfect here today. Sunny and 79 degrees F.
I have a few scents on right now and trying to decide what to wear tonight to an outdoor party at my neighbor’s house. It will be a Cuban theme (they are from Havana) and everyone will be wearing white.
On my right arm I have Miss Dior Original and Miu Miu L’Eau Bleue. On left arm is Jo Malone Silk Blossom and Annick Goutal Ninfeo Mio. I just finished picking up the house and I am about to go outside to get some sun. Then I’ll shower and pick one of my scents.
Have a great weekend everyone 🙂
Your party and weather both sound so nice!
Jealous of your weather. I was mowing my lawn while it was hailing…. and I was wearing my winter clothes.
We are having winter temps here. The local ski hill got 2 inches of new fresh powder overnight; I’m pretty sure that if I skied, then I would be thrilled.
Just got back from grocery shopping and people had their winter jackets on. Where is spring?
That’s exactly what I said… where is spring ????
Looks like KellyC has our spring!??
You all won’t be jealous when July and August are sweltering down here in the south, lol.
I dunno, it’s pretty hot and humid up here in Montreal in the summer too. We have 10 months of winter and 2 months of boiling heat it seems like. Climate change!
No hail, although they did threaten snow flurries here overnight. Still wearing winter clothes, except the waterproof versions as it’s mostly very cold rain and wind.
We had beautiful weather today too and I got some sun also! Yay for spring! Enjoy your party.
Thanks! I think I got some color. I am glad you got some sun also KellyC 🙂
Your party description is a nice remedy to the blustery weather I am stuck in today. I’m enjoying the mental image quite a bit.
Started the day in Mediterraneo, but have now switched to Escale a Portofino. Got an accolade from the elder stepson, which is a first (he’s usually oblivious to scent, and the younger stepson is the one who notices things like that) … sooooo, score! 🙂
He has good taste!
Yay for compliments!
Went sniffing in Chicago at the Merz Apothecary downtown – thanks to the NSTers who suggested that!
There was alot to smell and I got overwhelmed. I was mainly interested in the Santa Novella carnation but it was too cologny. I also smelled some ELDOs that get mentioned here alot – all very nice but the base was too synthetic. They had BMVF and I was tempted but since they only had 100 ml I wisely resisted. Tried the new DS Durgas but they were too strong for me.
Bought a pretty Mistral soap and some sandalwood to give back for all those scent blotters I used!
I like the Merz website, they are on the list for our next Chicago trip.
A definite must visit – they also had alot of European pharmacy products
The site has a fun product mix. That said, I’ve ordered samples from them, and I don’t like that they don’t label the sample vials themselves, just the plastic baggies they put them in. Doesn’t work for me.
Aedes does that too and I also don’t like it. I think Indigo does samples best: labelled SPRAY bottles!
Sounds like fun!
Yasmin’s, what does Eldo mean?
Short for the brand etat libre de l’orange
Happy Saturday everyone! My SOTD is the newer formulaion of Hermes’ Amazone. It’s a shell of it’s former self. I’ll relegate this to room/linen spray as I have the older Extrait and EDP (from the late 70s.
Spin class done, double-shot of espresso (minus the cookies from yesterday) and I’m off to Green Apple books in a moment, one of my absolute favorite indie book stores (besides Thidwick Books and Aardvark Books, both are now closed).
Headed out for date night with the hubby, have a great day everyone! 🙂
Robin, I love the lilac picture. I smelled some yesterday and they had absolutely no smell to them. I was so bummed! The smell of lilacs is one of my favorites, besides gardenias.
We had several bushes in our back yard when I lived on Long Island.
My lilacs smell amazing! Bummer the ones you sniffed didn’t!
I really love lilacs, a friend’s MIL had several lilac and rose bushes at their house in Calilstoga.I used to love visiting there, it was heavenly!
They also had a ton of cute little quail running around.
We have the cutest quail here too! The kind with the little thing on their head! I saw so many last year but hadn’t seen any this year but finally saw one in my yard yesterday and was so happy!
Late reply, but that is weird…I did not know there were lilacs with no smell!
For Saturday — scent of the afternoon, after I finished planting some flowers and herbs — Demeter Lilac, which seems fairly close to the real thing. I have a couple of lilacs in the back yard. ‘Pocahontas’ has a nice scent, and grows low and compact enough so I can smell a bunch of the flowers easily. We also have a pale lilac that has its flowers at the top of the tall, slender shrub. Some branches are flexible enough that I can pull them down to smell the flowers. It doesn’t have as strong a scent as ‘Pocahontas,’ I don’t think, but it’s still sweetly fragrant.
Now I want to get to Tyler Arboretum in Delaware County, PA to see (and sniff) their large lilac collection. : )
I’m sad that we no longer have an independent bookstore in Chester County, as far as I know. But there is a good library system. Also, I get a lot of Kindle books and e-books in other formats.
We still have Baldwin’s Book Barn!
http://www.bookbarn.com
Wow, have not been there in years! I used to love that place. Also Chester County Book Company in West Chester, they closed years ago.
And there used to be a little used bookstore on Church Street in West Chester, don’t know if it is still there. There are several good used bookstores in Kennett Square, including the very reasonably priced one run by the Senior Center.
(I have pretty much stopped buying printed books…no more room for them!)
I was specifically missing the Chester County Book Company. There’s Second Reading, benefiting the local senior center, located in the borough of West Chester, and Second Reading II down past the university, on High Street. I don’t go into the town of Kennett Square for fear of getting lost, just go through the area on Route 1 when I’m heading south.
Mostly now I get e-books, but some of the little independent e-publishing companies have gone out of business, so I’ve gotten a few print-on-demand versions of favorite e-books. It makes sense in my head. lol
You have a good week, too!
Oh, I remember what I wanted to say: yesterday I got to the Indian and Asian groceries in the Marchwood Shopping Center. The Asian grocery had lychee jellies, so I got a container of them. I got rasmalai and gulab jamun at the Indian grocery. Also we got half-price Easter candy on Monday. Speaking of eating rich sweets! Perhaps we can meet up sometime, and I’ll give you some lychee jellies to try. 🙂
Ah, nice, that is up in Exton, right?
I am in Kennett. Where are you exactly, if you don’t mind saying?
Wow, you must live close by! I wasn’t counting secondhand book bookstores, but you have a point. You just never know what you’ll find, which is cool if you’re in a mood to wander around and discover what’s there that day. I can get into that mood fairly quickly some days. Other days I’m looking for something specific, and that’s not the place for that. But it certainly is atmospheric there.
I’ve found some books there from the 1920s and 1930s about growing flowers, and was happy to learn about what were new cultivars then, and what varieties from the 1800s were still appreciated at that time. But gardening books from the 1970s and 1980s just seem dated to me.
At one point the Book Barn had some Oz books as continued by Ruth Plumly Thompson that looked interesting to me, but were not something I could afford.
I’ll have to look at their books on crafts and hobbies and collecting sometime this spring, and see what’s there.
Have a good week!
Downingtown! I miss the Chester County Book company, too, but I count myself lucky there are still a few independent booksellers around, though I don’t buy physical books often anymore either. The last time I was at the Book Barn, though, I bought a hilarious 19th-century book designed to instruct women in being pleasing to others.
You have a good week, too!
Okay, so about five miles away. 🙂 I’ll be going to the Regal Downingtown tomorrow to see the Avengers movie. Maybe we can get together for lunch sometime. 🙂
Went for a short visit to see my daughter and her husband, about a three hour round trip, and it poured rain the whole time except as I returned home the rain changed to sleet ? at least it won’t last, right? To reward myself, I put some Coromandel on over the Coco I started with this morning. It smells so good! Time for an extra sweater and some hot chocolate.
Hope you get warm and enjoy your chocolate!
Stay warm and cozy. You smell great!
Yum! Hot chocolate is a great antidote to cold, wet weather. ☕
Big day – our puppy went to the the groomers for the first time. She’s now even more beautiful and she smells great.
I started the day in Wood Sage and Sea Salt and then changed to Fog by Henry Rose perfume, which I really dig. Guess I was having a coastal kind of day?
Aww, clean fresh puppy, so sweet. 🙂 I need to give mine a bath too, it’s been so wet and muddy here. She looks a bit frazzled. Love your coastal scent theme!
I’m wearing Indult Isvarya on my left hand and Manakara on the right. I seem to want to eat rich sweets all day and soak myself in luscious rich perfumes at the same time. Our weather is glorious and there is jasmine in bloom everywhere now. Great white masses of it! One of my favorite times in Houston: if you drive along the streets with your windows down, the combined scents of freshly cut grass, jasmine, and barbecue all float in together to comprise a spring aria that makes you glad above all else that you have a sense of smell. I’m about to splurge on a FB of Isvarya on Luckyscent as my retirement present to myself—why not? It’s by Kurkdjian, my favorite nose! Now I just have to select my free samples….
Congratulations on your retirement! (So jealous!!!!!)
Great mental image from your post, sounds like heaven. Enjoy Isvarya!
Enjoy your retirement bottle!
How fun to plan your retirement gift to yourself, wishing you all the best on this momentous occasion.
Why not indeed! Enjoy your gift to yourself, AND your retirement!?
Hooray for your retirement!! I think you definitely deserve a beautiful perfume present to yourself.
The jasmine is also blooming in South Carolina. It makes me so happy.
Wow, sounds like you’re having fun. 🙂 Enjoy your retirement!
Cold again in this section of Pennsylvania, but there are several buds on the ‘Maid of Orleans’ sambac jasmine that I have inside. ‘Maid of Orleans’ and ‘Grand Duke of Tuscany’ are my jasmine reference points for a fragrance being “indolic.”
Congratulations!
I ended up commando today for no reason.
You know you’re a perfumista when…
Someone mentioned in the comments earlier this week that spell check learned how to spell something perfume-related (don’t remember who or what). I have one of my own — I wanted to abbreviate “especially” to “esp.” and spell-check kept changing it to EDP ?.
?! Very surprised that you ended up commando. It must have been one of those days.
That’s awesome and hilarious about the spell-check!
Ha! So true! I’ve noticed my phone has learned a few things too…
No perfume?!?
Hi to all,
New to posting, not so much lurking.?
My SOTD is dust and pollen, right now. I’m layering various lotions and strengths of a few comfort scents.
Wonder Woman is going to wear patchouli, as only she can.
Hope everyone has a terrific weekend!
Hello there! I’m always happy to see someone de-lurk!
Welcome!
Howdy Hi!
Hello Annie, good to see you here.
Hello!
Hello! Welcome!
Beautiful sunny autumn day here, and I’m feeling very good in a generous spraying of Indochine. It’s the only fragrance I have from Parfumerie Generale, and I’m keen to try more.
I have lost touch with PG, which is too bad…really like the brand.
Cool and VERY blustery here today. At least the sun is/was out. ?
SOTD = back in Azuree today.
I think you got my wind from yesterday. 45 mile an hour gusts!
Just crazy.
Yep, that sounds about like what was happening here.
Spent the day in Chanel no 5. Had to run out to get dog food, chicken thighs and go to Malley’s Chocolates and didn’t know that to wear. I am on pins and needles because I found out that on May 2nd, Sephora is going to have a sale. I am also waiting for Andy Tauer to release his new perfume.
A new tauer?! Anymore info??
I think that he has a name for the perfume but hasn’t said what it is yet. According to his blog, it doesn’t contain a rose note but there isn’t a lot of information out there.
He described it as a fresh scent, so I am thinking it will be more along the lines of his L’Eau.
I didn’t like l’eau
It was WAY too clean for me.
I have been lusting after Une Rose Chypre… the struggle is real…
What are you planning to get for the sale?
I am looking at some eyeshadow palettes among other things. Just filling up my cart but waiting for the sale to see what I really want.
I have decided that it is richly funny that today is both Sense of Smell Day and my wedding anniversary and I have a full-on head cold. No sense of smell or taste at all. OTOH, happy memories of our wedding!
I think I am hankering after another bottle of Antonia’s Flowers for this summer. I’ve emptied two over the past 15 or so years, and I seem always to end up missing it when I’ve run out. Belated anniversary present!
Happy anniversary.
Happy anniversary!?
Replying to myself to thank everyone for the anniversary wishes and to say that after I posted last night, I decided to go ahead and buy a bottle of AF, only to met by an announcement, posted in February, that they are “on hiatus.” Oh, no!!! I wish them the best and hope that the company finds a path forward.
https://www.antoniasflowers.com/
Oh, that’s disappointing. Happy anniversary anyway. Hope you feel better soon!
Happy anniversary! I’m sorry you couldn’t get the perfume you wanted.
Belated Happy Anniversary wishes! ???
Finishing the day in Casmir because it’s snowing! I smell very cozy.
Casmir!? You smell(ed) great!
How much snow did you get??
It snowed pretty hard last night but it all melted by mid morning. Now it’s very sunny ?
Glad to hear that your snow did not stick around! ??
Started out the day in Bergamote 22.
Ran by Nordies on the way home and sprayed Labdanum 18 (b/c curious about labdanum scents right now) and Killian Black Phantom (b/c it was staring at me).
Got a lot of coffee off the Black Phantom, so now in some Cafe Tuberosa. I might have to go FB on that. Having fun working my way through a box of Atelier Cologne samples!
Enjoy the samples.
Must try that one.
I love Bergamote 22 and Labdanum 18!
I like both of them too. Have you tried the Tonka 25? It’s really nice.
Which Ateliers have you tried so far?
Cafe Tuberosa, Vanille Incensee, Cedre Atlas, Orange Sanguine, Clementine California… still a few more that need a proper testing.
Really like the Vanille and the Cafe Tuberosa. The citruses are all lovely. Cedre Atlas not for me. There’s some note I don’t care for but haven’t discerned exactly what.
Cooler temps call for warmer perfume, chose Stendhal Ambre Sublime this morning, glad I had only moved half my collection of winter perfumes.
After eating some delicious marmalade on toast washed down with a cup of Darjeeling, I’m getting a craving for Azemour les Oranges, so that will be my SOTD.
Mmmm marmalade and toast sound good to me right now!
Well, they (thankfully!) waaay over predicted the snow we were in line for yesterday. We got a dusting at best.
SotW is Narciso Pure Musc. Thunked my sample. This one is growing on me. I don’t need a bottle but if one of those 10 ml travel sprays fell in my lap, I’d gladly wear it. Stays close to the skin but lasts for hours.
I got some fun news from my college daughter yesterday. She found out she will be working at the summer camp she attended for 8 summers. She will be working there at the same time that madtownteen will be a camper. I think they are going to have so much fun. Wish I could be a fly on the wall.
That’s great news! I hope tour kids have a great summer together.
Such fun news about summer camp!
I’m wearing Jasmin Rouge today. For the longest time I thought iris was my favorite note, but I think it’s actually jasmine. Bliss!
I love Jasmine Rouge, you smell great!
Wore Acqua di Sale yesterday to evoke some holiday feeling in the cold drizzle. Splendiris in the morning from a sample today.
Another cold day, wearing Ambre Russe to stay warm.
Good morning! Still morning on the East Coast of the U.S. — for less than an hour. (lol)
Trying Surrender to Chance samples. First, Patou Eau de Joy, which was too much for me in the morning. It might be more of a fragrance to wear in the evening. Second try, Serge Lutens Sa Majeste la Rose. My feeling is that it doesn’t seem to be as complicated as some SL perfumes. It’s strong at first, but I’m okay with it.
I have matinee tickets for “Avengers: Endgame” tomorrow, so like someone commented above, I’m trying to stay away from spoilers. I’m avoiding the YouTube Marvel movie review channels and some blogs that discuss superheroes. 🙂
My son saw it last night and it’s killing him that I’m not seeing it until next weekend haha.
A bunch of my friends have already seen “Avengers: Endgame” already. No spoilers from them so far, but there was one screenshot of a movie mishap. Error message on a HUGE screen looks even worse than on a computer screen.
Glad you haven’t heard spoilers yet. When I saw “Spiderman: Homecoming” in the theater, the reel broke (or whatever happens with films now) at the start of the last big fight scene in the movie. It flickered and then went dark. The projectionist got things working again in a little while, and we got to see the fight and the end of the movie. A gigantic error message would be something else, though.
SOTD = Pacifica Spanish Amber
Mitzah lite for a coolish dampish day.
Anyone in the U.S. interested in going in together for Aftelier samples? I am interested in trying the new one but hate paying the shipping for just the one. I’ll split the cost based on the number of people who participates. The number to make it worth doing is for at least 4 more people to join. You can request multiple samples but I will only count you as 1. I’ll mail it to you using recycled packaging and the cost will be the cost of your sample + your portion of the shipping + the exact usps cost of shipping to you + 10 cents (for the clear adhesive sleeve to protect the shipping label from the elements). Shipping is usually within 2 days of the order so if I order by the end of this week, I can mail it out next Saturday (the 11th). Anyone interested, please email me (click on the link) and let me know what you want and your mailing address (so I can figure out the usps cost). You do not need to pay me yet. Thanks.
Well, it seems that yesterday was a lot windier than I had thought. When I took the recyclables out today, I noticed that a pine tree in one of the common areas had been knocked down by the wind. It had been leaning to one side for a while, though.
SOTD = SOTWeekend = Azuree. This bottle might have to move to the year-round selection!
Azuree is great!
Hopping on to say that there was someone in Angel at my workout class this AM- and lots of it! I was somewhat shocked someone would douse themselves in Angel before a workout lol.
Shalimar Soufflé for me this afternoon. I really like it, though it’s not very Shalimar to me haha- Shalimar Light shares a lot more DNA with the original. This is very pretty though and I’d wear it a lot of I had a bottle I think.
You smell great! I don’t know if you have looked lately, but the bottles are fairly reasonably priced right now at discounters. I agree that it’s not similar to the original.
I have looked and as you know, I have to have all things Shalimar! 😉 It really lasts though. I sprayed this AM after my workout and can still smell it a bit.
Late! My SOTW (scent of the weekend) was Tokyo Spring Blossom, from 4160 Tuesdays. I also wore JM’s Blue Hyacinth yesterday. I love spring flowers.
Very hot in Southern Az so trying a new combo, philosokos layered with Tempo. Pretty nice.
