It's Tuesday and it's Girl Scout Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in my other splitmeet acquisition, Neela Vermeire Créations Pichola. Tea at the moment is a random Ceylon from an Upton sample.
Reminder: 3/15 will be Olivier Friday...wear a fragrance by Olivier Cresp or Olivier Gillotin, if you have one. Partial credit for any other Olivier connection you can devise.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Elephant Tea Cosy ("A hand-made elephant-shaped tea cosy, decorated with traditional Kashmiri needlework. In a perfect fusion of 15th Century craft and 21st Century design, this beautiful hand-made tea cosy using is made traditional techniques, and produced in Kashmir. ") is £70 at The British Museum Shop.
Hello everyone!
Yesterday I found a full tester of the original Sublime by Patou and, remembering Turin’s review, snapped it up for only $20! It reminds me of Boucheron, but with a bit more richness. Simply gorgeous, and well named.
Great find!
Thank you!
Score! Did you find it in person or online? I never find anything in person.
I did find it in person. Not sure where you live, but I live in a big city with lots of old stock. Just takes a lot of searching!
Me neither!☹️
You tube fragrance finds channel, just sayin… it would be a hit, imo???
Aw, thanks! If I was at all spontaneously personable, I would consider it. 🙂
Oh wow, that’s a fantastic find – lucky you!
Thank you! I’ll wear it lovingly. 🙂
You smell sublime, I treasure my bottle and have always loved that scent, it’s so plush.
“Perfumed Treasures — The Latest Episode”! You have the most amazing luck finding things.
In TDC Jasmin de Nuit.
Have a peaceful Tuesday everyone!
Hope you have a peaceful day too. Is your time at the other office almost done?
Thank you Lillyjo! My time was extended until May, for now. Uncertainty reigns at my work place. A complete mess. Keeping a positive attitude though.
perfumelover67
sounds like we both work on the same kind of crazy projects!
Let’s breathe deeply! We will survive!
Triplets on the crazy. OMG, I don’t even know how we are getting through the days!
Your SOTD inspired me as I was reading posts and getting ready for wirh this morning, so we’re twins!
Hi twin! We smell wonderful!
Sorry to hear that your stay at the temporary, not at all fun office has been extended. It sounds like far too many things are in flux in your work environment.
It not easy and the situation is getting worse with new management starting next week. Let’s hope there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Santal Nabataea..perfect for my mindfulness book talk tonight.
I am also wearing elephant leggings.
If you are reading Jada, happy birthday.
If you are reading scentsfromabove, 37 percent off fragrancenet coupon GPYA37
Awwwww…..THANK YOU!!! MUAH!!! 🙂
Your welcome…hope it’s a great day!
You’re…sheesh…I cannot even spell today!
Good luck with the talk tonight.
Thanks lillyjo!
I bet your leggings are cute AND comfy!? You could pair them with Assam.?
they really are comfy…we sit on the floor for meditation so I did not want to wear pants. I should have thought about wearing Assam 🙂
Good luck with the talk tonight! 🙂
Thanks SmokeyToes…I have four essential oil blends for folks to play with too!!!! I am all about making it fun 🙂 Given that it is taking place for three hours after work for five weeks! Tonight will be week number four.
10,000 enabler points for you – you just single-handedly ended my 2019 no-buy, SPECTACULARLY, with that coupon! Ha! I couldn’t help it, Terracotta has been on my wish list foreverrrrrrr and with the coupon it was $50… and then while I was there how could I not get a few minis and samples and maybe a candle?
ahahahahhaaha!!! Listen, Regina, I broke my no buy too and all the NSTers can tell you that up until now I was very strict about it!
I succumbed because I was buying an Escada for my eldest for a ridiculously low price (in the 20 dollar range) and then needed to add for free shipping…so I bought Niki de Saint Phalle for 20 dollars (75 ml) but still didn’t reach free shipping so I threw in a Cacharel Noa 100ml tester for also around 20 bucks….I mean these are practically free, right? and then cazaubon told me they are free because I just got an ebates check in the mail so that cancels one bottle and I am skipping pizza night this week so that cancels another bottle….or…I could look at all four bottles that I recently bought as a gift from each of the four Marzipans…man, I have this down to a science now 😉
I agree…when you see something for such a bargain that you really want you CANNOT turn it down….you can always package up that Terracotta and save it for your birthday or Christmas 🙂 …same with the minis and the candles that you got!!!!
Hee hee. That is a lot of what my process looked like too. Hey, we made it to March 12! That’s like 1/5 the year!
I am going to try very hard to not buy anything for a while now 🙂
Mmmm
Noa is a favorite of mine.
I love it too. Wore it often in the 1990s to 2000s and emptied about 5 bottles. I am looking forward to trying it again.
True – make that 20,000 enabler points; although I haven’t bought anything in 2019 yet, that will end (very) soon thanks to chocolatemarzipan!
Three items in my cart and counting…
Hahaha! Don’t miss the Parfum de Feuilles candle on clearance, it’s $28 with coupon 😉
Sorry !!!! LOL!!! 😉
Noooooo you abandoned me in No Buy Land!
oh goodness, Koyel…I am at my desk laughing so hard! Sorry! I will get back on the NO BUY train now…promise 🙂
I knowwwww, so sorry! It’s an addiction, I am powerless!
Would it help if I joined you in No Buy Land Koyel?
Good luck with your talk!
Thank you!
Hope your talk goes well! You smell great.
I am thinking of you whilst wearing this one. It’s fantastic but requires lots of spraying on me. I am also wearing my mala beads so I gave them a good spray too hoping they will continue to smell into the days to come.
I hope your talk goes well tonight and it doesn’t leave you feeling exhausted ( in an introvert way)
Thank you, Kanuka…luckily we are all working together..it’s MIndfulness for Beginners so we all come with beginner’s mind…I am really enjoying it 🙂
Good luck with your talk! What book are you using?
And meant to add, you smell great! I really like that one, but my little dabber doesn’t seem to do it justice.
Jon Kabat Zinn MIndfulness for Beginners. But I am also using youtube videos and teaching various meditations and breathing such as alternate nostril breathing
Sounds awesome!
I’m sure it will be very interesting.
It’s a topic I really enjoy
Good luck tonight. And more enabler points for you. I had talked myself out of the 30ml Black Perfecto bottle but at $22 it’s practically free.
Ha! I did good this time with lots of enabler points 🙂
Wow, not only are you the THUNKINATOR, you are also the Enabler Queen!
???
Thanks for the coupon code <3
Made my decisions for me xoxo
You’re welcome ?
Hope you got something good!
Wearing Zoologist Camel today, trying to cull the herd for the swapmeet.
Is it working? I personally felt more convinced by Camel every time I tried it.
I really like it but it’s almost like I’m anosmic to it after an hour or so. Like I know there’s a smell but I can’t smell it. It’s so great at first!
Omg. If that’s going on your swapmeet list, I know whom to try to attract with my list! Camel is at the very top of my want list right now. What makes you feel iffy about it?
Not quite sure yet, but don’t miss the swap meet, it’s always fun 🙂
I never miss swapmeet 😉
Sorry it disappears on you! That’s too bad. It also seems shocking to me–it just lasts and lasts on me.
Sorry, to answer your question, see comment above.
SOTD Samaa, attar from Sugandhco, sweet woodsy rose, I like it very much.
Every time I see what looks like a proper name that begins with Sugar, I automatically think “Sugarbutt” which was the name of a dearly departed cat of a crazy cat lady! ???
Ha! I do that with some words too.
You smell great!
Thanks! And guess what? I got a compliment, and I said thank you, but she persisted and wanted to know the name, so I said it’s a perfume oil from India, but she really persisted, said she loves to wear Nag Champa, so I gave her the info, she might place an order. This never happens ?
Haha, nice! Look at you, making customers for them left and right in the US 🙂
Chanel Misia
In love with that tea cozy…
Misia is wonderful, I love the violet/iris notes. 🙂
Ditto on the tea cosy! Figures I would find even a tea cosy that costs more than I would pay, ha.
I’m wearing Proenza Schouler Arizona, which I thought was a nice fruity-irisy thing at first but is already disappointing me with the drydown. Does anyone else get a mushroomy note in a lot of modern drydowns? I’m wondering what it is so I can avoid it. The notes list cashmeran… that’s in so many things I sort of doubt it’s the culprit; on the other hand I do get it from a bunch of different things.
And thanks to those who recommended Palais des Thes! I am drinking Jardin Andalou today, with a whole drawerful of other lovely caffeine-free things keeping my mouth entertained at work.
By mushrooms do you mean savory or dank/dirty/bitter? I get the latter a lot and I think it’s maybe some modern oakmoss sub like some version of patchouli.
dank/savory?
I get something like that with almost all Jo Malones.
I was just talking to one of my friends about this a few weeks ago. There is a note in some modern perfumes that just drives me crazy. And, not in a good way. I want to scrub it off immediately when that note comes through.
When I tried Arizona, I noticed this note almost immediately.
Some of the other ones I’ve noticed it in are D&G Light Blue, Moschino So Real Cheap & Chic and Marc Jacobs Daisy.
Oh good, I’m glad you found this in Arizona also – it’s always a relief to hear my nose is not crazy!
D&G Light Blue made me nauseous. Some perfumes can be bothersome or headache inducing, but this was the first time that I actually felt physically ill – I scrubbed it off as soon as I could. I don’t do well with ambroxan – figured that out with the Molecules (I think two was ambroxan?). If that helps.
I’ve had nausea too, Amyitis, twice so far, with Dior Sauvage and PR Lady Million, now I approach new releases with caution on a test strip and not on skin.
I get a weird note in all the modern designer perfumes. It makes me want to rip my skin off. Bear told me once, that it’s an overload of ambroxan. I believe that it’s true. It’s a real bummer for me, because now, I have to look around at older formulations for perfumes I like. I even smelled it in the new summer Angel, which is why I didn’t take a chance at blind buying Alien Fusion.
And now I see your ambroxan comment! So we are in total agreement!
OJ Champaca from the splitmeet. When I got my OJ sampler set from luckyscent, this scent was one of the first to be drained. So pretty.
Sunday I made a pork roast in the crock pot that got so tender it literally fell off the bone. Tonight I will use the leftovers to make carnitas for Taco Tuesday.
You smell great! That was the sample I drained 1st from a bunch of OJ samples (2nd was Frangipani).
Carnitas sounds yum!
Thanks! I really many of the OJ perfumes-that base works wonders on my skin.
You smell great & Yum!!!
Thank you!
Oh my gosh carnitas tacos is seriously one of my favorite foods! So good! I also drained Champaca and Frangipani first in my OJ samples lol.
I love carnitas too but I usually only have them when we go out and I end up making chicken or beef at home.? I’m not sure why, I need to make them more often, they are so delicious!
You gotta love leftovers that become something delicious! ??
I am wearing Guerlain Herba Fresca and drinking a cup of orange spice tea. I am taking small steps (and squirts) with my perfume, while I am still trying to get over this upper respiratory thing.
I hope you feel well soon! That respiratory thing is sure a nasty one!
Sending you speedy healing wishes!
Hope you feel better soon, you certainly smell great.
Hope you’re feeling better quickly.
Thanks ! I am feeling a little bit better everyday. No more headache and sore throat. I am still dealing with blocked ears, and that is aggravating. The worst is the cough which is still hanging on with a vengeance 🙁
I’m wearing Eau de Camille, hoping that the green notes will help counteract another dreary, grey day.
Love that one, it’s so gorgeous!
Good morning Y’all!
Well, I’m celebrating my #49 birthday…..gotta live it up before the big 5-0 hits next year! HA HA I did a little birthday shopping yesterday on FragranceNet, and have a bottle of Guerlain Vol de Nuit coming soon. YAY! I also splurged last week and bought a 14ml of Lancome Jasmins Marzipane, but I’m not grooving on that one at all. Maybe I need to test it a few more times…..
Anyhoo, wearing one little tiny spray of Givenchy Ysatis…easily in my top 3 frags of all time. It packs some sillage the first couple of hours, but the drydown is just the BEST! 🙂
Happy Birthday! ????
Happy Birthday Jada! You smell Amazing. Ysatis is a real stunner!?
happy birthday (again!!) I was naughty too with birthday shopping (four bottles…yikes!!! but then again there are four marzipans so they can each gift me one-LOL!) and my birthday isn’t until the end of next month! Enjoy your goodies and enjoy your day xoxo
and Robin says I need not report to Donatella since they are all technically gifts 😉
Well, make sure to tell us about your birthday gifts on your birthday!
But, curious minds want to know…?
OK , you asked!!!
1)A back up bottle of Reglisse Noire. It’s on Mr. Marzipan’s side of the closet still packaged up. I thunked my current bottle last week but Portia of Australian Perfume Junkies sent me a mini vintage and another kind APJer is sending me her mini vintage so I am good until my birthday. I bought it ahead of time because I was told that the prices were going up effective March 4. I got my 50ml bottle for 56 dollars. Now I think it is around 75 dollars.
2) My custom blend from Sarah Horowitz Parfums. She made this for me in 1998 and still had the recipe on file…it’s called Brigitte and it is comprised of grapefruit, lilac, violet, sandalwood, vanilla and musk…smells like a creamy lilac to my nose…it’s soft and perfect for the office and so right for spring. I had a 15 percent coupon code so I got 75 ml for under 100 dollars..for a custom scent that is a bargain!
3) A 2oz bottle of Niki de Saint Phalle because Portia talks about this one constantly and I wore it in the mid to late 1980s and must have drained about four or five bottles. I am curious as to how I will feel about it again. But 20 bucks and if I don’t love it someone chez Marzipan will. Nothing gets wasted in this house!!!!
4) A 100 ml tester bottle of Cacharel’s Noa (if it arrives in time it will be the only fragrance I have to wear for this week’s CP). Wore that one in the late 1990s into early 2000s because it garnered me lots of compliments , especially with kids. Drained about 4 of those bottles back then too. It cost slightly over 20 bucks.
Awesome!?
These sound soooooo awesome!!! Reviews please, as you post them as your SOTDs! 🙂
Lol
I also thought of Noa for Friday. It’s lovely, and reliable on my skin… I generally like musks, (TBS comes to mind) but sometimes foul them with my chemistry. Noa and it’s hunt if coffee always makes me feel cozy & relaxed.
Hint. Of. Coffee. Eek!
Yes that coffee note in NOA makes it special.
Come April 1st, I’ll have to confess a LOT more than Vol de Nuit to Donatella….This quarter has been OUTTA CONTROL for me! Yikes! 🙂
????
Best wishes Jada!
Happy birthday Jada !!
Happy Birthday Jada!?Enjoy your perfumed purchases!
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your new bottle ? Jasmins Marzipane didn’t work for me either. Probably a good one to swap, though!
And yay for 1970! I’m right behind you ?
Happy Birthday, Jada!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday Jada!
Happy Birthday! You smell great!
Happy birthday! Here’s to a year of livin it up and good times.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday Jada! Age is just a number. Enjoy your new bottle. Vol de Nuit is beautiful!
I’ll be hitting that very same number in July and have been birthday shopping since last August…
Happy birthday Jada. Hope you have a great day.
Happy Birthday, Jada! Hope the last of your forties is a total blast! You are such an upbeat person – I always enjoy your posts. Good wishes for the new year! Health and happiness…
Happy birthday!!

You smell divine and happy forty-nine!
Hope you have a special day today, and many, many more!?
Happy Day!!!
Many happy returns, Jada.
Happy Birthday!!
Happy, happy birthday, Jada!
Happy Birthday, Jada! And, enjoy your new ‘fumes!
Posting late! Happy Scented Birthday Jada! Waft on! ???
Happy birthday!!
Very late birthday wishes — hope it was a great day!
I’m wearing Mohur extrait de parfum. The decant I was given a while ago by a very generous perfumista has almost gone. Time to start saving for my own bottle.
Today is considerably better than yesterday. No incompetent and well meaning people in sight. 🙂
Thanks for all your kind words yesterday.
Glad it’s a better day!
Glad today is better! (are you working from home??)
Got it in one 😉
Mind you, I do find competent people at work as well, yesterday however was just awful.
You smell gorgeous. Glad to hear today is better.
I am glad to hear your day was less stressful than yesterday. I hope the rest of your week sails by.
Want a treat! Both the perfume and the absence of incompetents?
You smell so good.
Thanks for all the kind thoughts.
I’m pleased to hear that you had a much better day today.
Cuir de Lancome today, just cuz ?
A real gem and great any day.
Agreed!
You smell purdy… ?
Thank you, my dear ?
Le sigh. CdL is a wonderful shape changer to me. It never smells quite the same way twice.
SOTD is Sikkim by Lancome. Perfect dry leather for a crisp cool day. Busy day at work, but I’ve taken to working out again on lunch time. The Bloodmobile is here so I may take the opportunity to donate blood. Everyone have a fantastic day! 🙂
How wonderful and caring to give blood (I did it regularly before getting ill and should start again) and I bet you smell great too.
Both the perfume and the blood donation sound like great things.
I received a nice compliment from the nurse – as it turns out, she enjoys perfume too. Very pleasant afternoon!
SOTD = Prada Candy
Caught up with the movie Can You Ever Forgive Me? last night. Really unfortunate they couldn’t figure out how to promote this properly, it’s wonderful and had no business flopping. Love Mahershala, but Richard E. Grant should have won.
I watched that on Sunday! It was soooo good. I went to read her book right away – of course the library line is months long. I do wonder how she managed to avoid Son of Sam laws!
Have some Audible credits stacking up so I got the audiobook, haven’t started it yet though!
Looking forward to watching that one. What is it about Richard E. Grant that makes him seem so lovely? Men like him too!
I rented it on Amazon, definitely worth the 2.99!
Grant just seems like a delightful person to be around from all his publicity stuff. So charming, why isn’t he a bigger star? Maybe all the nominations for this movie will open up some doors.
Have you seen Withnail and I? He is brilliant in it
I have not, but I will add it to my list immediately!
Love Withnail & I, the whole film is hysterical and that final scene where Withnail performs the soliloquy from Hamlet is marvellous.
I loved that film and was probably one of my favorites of the year! Agree that Richard E. Grant was fabulous. I was watching an interview with Julianne Moore who was supposed to have played Lee Israel, but there was some drama around that and also with the direction, apparently, so I wonder if that set back the PR. I also don’t think the subject matter necessarily has mass appeal and wow factor.
I just read that too! Julianne Moore is incredible, obviously, but after seeing the movie I think it was the right choice. McCarthy killed it, would be happy to see her in more dramas.
She was great, but reminded me a lot of a character she played on SNL:
https://youtu.be/6gPnaWhcEbo
Yes, she was wonderful – there were so many moments where a whole host of feelings went across her face at once.
Oh, hey now! I will put this on my amazon prime watchlist! Thanks✌?
Dying to watch that
I have the day off, and a sick daughter at home. I slept late, and haven’t done a thing yet today. That’s what days off are for, right? Since Regina mentioned it above, my Sotd is Terracotta. I actually have a few to pick from for the cp this week. None of them called my name today.
Aww, hope she feels better.
Thank you
Yes, days off are definitely for sleeping late and doing nothing! I hope your daughter feels better, and that some sun made it your way today too my friend!?
I had it for the whole day!?
Hope your daughter feels better soon but I’m glad you got to sleep in.
Me too, thanks!
Boo for your daughter being sick! I hope that she feels better quickly.
Thanks, jalapeno
Glad you were able to sleep in! But sorry your daughter was sick today.
Hope the Terracotta made you think of summer! I should pull mine out.
It really did. I like it more with each wearing.
I’m participating in the CP with 10 Corso Como! My sprayer appeared to jam up after about 3 sprays. Maybe the bottle was telling me I had put on enough. Hopefully it will have sorted itself out by the time I try to put it on again. I smell really pretty; it’s been a while since I’ve work this!
Worn* of course >.<
I’m planning to wear that later this week. I’ve had my share of fights with my 10 Corso Como bottle too, though mainly with the cap. Last time it stuck on so tightly I was panicked that I would never get it off! Now I don’t put the cap on all the way. Which probably means it will evaporate faster… oh well.
10CC will be my Friday SOTD! I think three sprays will serve you well. ?
You smell great 🙂
You smell super good.
Hey, if 10CC smells fantastic on you as you wear it, you are working it as well. ?
A quick scan of yesterday’s comments reveals I am not the only one suffering from the time change. The telephone rang at 1:15 am on Sat morning to summon me to my duties as equine midwife, and didn’t get back to bed until 3. Then back up for the regular work at 6. Sunday is my early start day, 6 am, which of course felt like 5. Have just this morning made up my sleep deficit.?
Scent of the morning was lemon Pledge from some housekeeping I had been procrastinating about, but am about to put on some Iris Rebelle for a nature break at the arboretum. Perfect for the cool, but sunny and springlike afternoon.
“The telephone rang at 1:15 am on Sat morning to summon me to my duties as equine midwife . . .” Now I am having All Creatures Great and Small fantasies. Just once in my life I wish I was summoned at 1 am for equine midwife duties. Hat tip to you!!
Ditto ?
Thanks for the hat tip! I love the James Herriot books, I think Every Living Thing was my favorite. Fortunately, I am not a vet. Farm people get to deal with the routine stuff, vets have to deal with the bad stuff.
The hours don’t sound like my cup of tea, but like Oakland Fresca, just once would be awesome. Sounds really amazing. Glad you finally got some zzzzz’s.
Yeah, the hours can get pretty ridiculous. But pretty cool sometimes.?
Agree, I was already stressed before time change, now I’ve gone cracker dog ?
Thank you so much for teaching me the phrase “cracker dog”…..
EQUINE MIDWIFE? Your life is so much more interesting than my life.
Lol Koyel, that’s exactly what I was thinking!
Ha! I doubt it. I always tell people life on a horse farm is boring. Boring is good. If it’s exciting, it means it’s gone wrong. ?
EQUINE MIDWIFE? Your life is so much more interesting than my life.
Thanks for the clarification on your job. I had assumed that you were a vet, based on some of your prior posts. Never knew that Equine Midwife was a thing.
It’s not, really. I’m an assistant farm manager. Assistant managers, general managers, broodmare managers, night watch, these are the people who handle routine (or mostly routine) foalings. I’m not sure my 6’2″ manly man GM would like being called “equine midwife” but that’s what he is.?
Was craving patchouli this morning, actually PATCHOULI! Rummaged around until I found my Angela Flanders travel spray of . . . you guessed it . . . Patchouli. Pretty medicinal stuff–perfect for my mood. And now I am also burning patchouli and dragon’s blood incense.
Finished a big project for work last week so today I am having trouble doing much of anything.
Am following the Varsity Blues scandal on the telly. My older son is just starting to hear back from colleges, so the news feels vaguely personal.
I’m finding it rather darkly amusing. I mean, didn’t these parents know the traditional rich folks way of getting your not-so-brilliant kid into a top university? Just DONATE a pile to said university! Endow a chair!
Plump for a building! (Yeah I went to a school with its share of ‘legacy’ students.)
The parochial school I went to had its share of really spoiled brats, most of whom were not bright enough to get into one of the coveted colleges. My cousin was a dean at one of these colleges and you should have seen all the pretentious actions the parents directed towards my dad. My dad was totally unflappable and did not do anyone any favors, not even his clients!
I think the mental tide goes out after a big project so it’s good to just potter with patouchli. Good luck with the university stuff.
Congratulations on finishing that big project!
Still enjoying SUN today. The forecast calls for 20% chance of rain but I refuse to allow that.
SOTD is CBIHP Wild Hunt. Love it, but not the rollerball. If I ruled the universe (and why don’t I?), rollerballs would be banned.
Sun here too after rain all night, just in time for the roofers to start this morning. What a racket.
I hate rollerballs too, I usually pop them open and decant into an atomizer.
Why don’t you? 🙂
Clearly a mistake has been made in overlooking me for ‘ruler of the universe’. 🙂
rollerballs are a good idea in theory, I like the application and it’s great for oils, the contamination is the only issue – if “they” could figure out a way for the right amount to be released in a pre-release chamber that was self sterilizing, it would be perfect ;0
when I saw the 20% I got excited you were talking about a coupon code : (
Another rollerball hater here. I’ve thought about decanting, but it just seems like one more chore…
Wouldn’t it be cool if someone could invent a conversion kit to change rollerballs into travel sprays?
Once bought fancy painted decant bottles on eBay,
& came with both a roller ball top & an atomizer top. So I chucked the rollerball tops lol. I’m not a fan of contamination & floating skin flakes ?
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 EDP
Despite not having worn it for the entire month of February. I seem to have drained a chunk — I guess 8 sprays per wear will do that!
One of my debit cards got compromised! It was one that I had never activated and I got a fraud alert for a smallish amount at Michael’s which I later found out was the store in Michigan. This was the second time with this bank — first time around was September of last year at a mall on Long Island. The CSR told me that the fraudsters just keep trying by following a sequence based on real harvested numbers. Because a PIN is not required for the combo debit / credit card, the only preventive is a reliance by the bank on patterns to detect anomalies.
Why can’t they institute a PIN requirement. Stoopid. But glad it was caught quickly. I have alerts set up so I get a text as soon as any transaction is made.
I have alerts too. Actually, within days of setting up my alerts, I was notified that someone (not me) used my credit card to make a $300 purchase at bloomingdales.com. I think the bank should’ve sent me one of whatever the scammer bought along with my new credit card 🙂
Ha!
I should check into that. The thing with this one is I never had any intent to use it so never activated it. I should just tell them don’t bother sending me a card!
Do you prefer No. 19 EDP or EDT? Or both for different times? I love that everyone uses this scent for “backbone”, I think I need some, but wondering which I should go for – or maybe I should get decants of both?
I think I prefer the edt. But I know Hajusuuri prefers the edp. I could send you a small decant of the edt if you’d like. Email me if you’re interested (you can find my email by clicking on my gravatar).
Thanks KellyC! Will. You be swapping anything? If so I’ll keep an eye out for your listings in order to consolidate shipping if it works out – thank you so much for the offer!
And if you can wait, I will send you a decant of the EDP. I find the EDT to be more orange blossomey.
Sure, I don’t mind waiting, thanks so much hajusuuri! It will be nice to test them side by side!
Ack on debit card issue! So annoying, but what really burns me up is that every day law abiding citizens like you and I have to rearrange our entire lives around criminal activity. ?
So true! A pox on all fraudsters!
Yikes on your debit card woes! That really sucks! What is really bothering me, though, is how it could have been used without it being activated. Why did the bank/issuer accept the transaction?
Dropped the baby puppy girl off at the vet today to be spayed and have her last baby teeth extracted. She was so nervous she drooled all over herself on the way in the car, poor sweetie. Will pick her up this afternoon. Right now the roofers are making a racket pulling all the shingles off. But I am sipping black tea and remaining zen in my Geisha Noir. Hubby even gave me a compliment.
I hope you have a restful evening and your pup recovers quickly
Thank you Kanuka! Wishing you a good day too.
Poor girl, hope she gets through it all ok <3
Aww, poor little pup. I hope she recovers seamlessly and I’ll add my compliments to your SOTD!
Aw, poor pupster! Vet visits can really stress animals (and owners!) out. Hope everything goes well, and you are smelling very zen!
all the best to your baby
Yay to perfume compliments from hubby
Geisha Noire is one my hubby always comments on! You smell great and I hope the pup procedures go well.
Aw, I hope that your little pup is done with her procedures and is now at home recovering with you.
I hope your pup is comfortably at home now. That is such a traumatic day for her.
Glad you are staying calm with the roofing going on. I actually was quite happy to go to work those days when ours was being done!
And congratulations on the perfume compliment. They are rare in my house!
I had nothing in mind to wear today so I took inspiration from perfumelover67 and put on TDC Jasmin de Nuit. It’s an old love of mine and it’s hitting the spot. Yesterday I wore Jasmins Marzipane from a swap, which is a solid like so far. So a jasmine kind of start to the week. I have three perfumes between the two Oliviers in the CP, so I may wear those Wed-Fri.
It seems I’m dealing with tennis elbow right now, which is not fun at all. I will be icing it on and off today in hopes of some relief.
So sorry about your elbow, I have been dealing with shoulder pain for over two months now, hope you get relief soon.
Thank you. I hope we both find some relief!
Had a mini of Jasmin de Nuit – quite a naughty jasmine, if I remember…
I don’t find it to be naughty on me, but I do have a pretty high tolerance for indoles. On me it’s a spiced jasmine. I will entertain the thought of a bottle purchase if I ever finish my decant because I’ve been smitten with it for years. I’d like one of the older bottles with the darker orange juice.
Ouch! I hope that your elbow feels better soon!
Thanks! I’m going to try light exercises tonight and otherwise rest it as much as I can.
Tennis elbow sucks!! I’ve gotten it a few times, usually from hitting my elbow on a table at a particularly bad angle, and never from tennis. Hope you recover soon!
I wish I could say it’s from tennis! I get a lot of elbow stiffness in general because I’m always holding something with my elbows bent plus I’m on a mouse and keyboard almost all day at work. I’m also a side sleeper who bends my arm to put my hand under my pillow.
I think the icing on the cake was going to a punk concert on Sunday night that got pretty rowdy. I got banged around a couple times.
Just got through a funny half hour. I took Sydney out to go to the bathroom and asked her if she was going to chase the squirrel. She got all excited and when I let her out, the squirrel wasn’t there. She peed, went partially up the hill and had a tantrum because she couldn’t chase the squirrel. Stomping her feet and everything. Wearing no 19 for a little extra backbone for when I go to work.
Poor little guy, lol. I’m sure that squirrel is onto him!
Hi, This is the first time I am posting. And I need to tell this story to folks who will understand.
I ordered an almost full bottle on ebay of a vintage perfume that I never see anywhere. Even though I don’t have any extra money right now, I got it, because it is rare. Well, it never showed up. The postal carrier says he delivered it and he has been with this office for 20years (what the manager of the p.o. location said) and that he knows my house. And the GPS says he scanned it “delivered” at my address. Anyway, I can’t prove that I didn’t get it so I am out the $138 that I should have been saving for necessities. Can’t believe I did that.
Hi CateP, and welcome! I am so sorry your first comment was on a day when I was not around to approve it until nearly midnight. I hope you will come back again — your next comment won’t be held for approval so you’ll be more likely to get a response.
Anyway, is it possible there is one or more package thieves in your neighborhood? I know it’s a big problem in some places.
Either way, I am so sorry that you lost money on the transaction, that stinks.
Aww. I can’t imagine how upset & heartbroken you must feel. ?I’d be positively sick over it.
Robin is right. These package theives are rampant. And the term “safe drop” is a total oxymoron. So sorry this happened to you. Out the cash & no vintage bottle. Ugh.
I say a prayer to to fragrance gods your bottle magically turns up?
I know it’s not likely, but ??
Welcome ?
That tea cosy is magnificent!
Œillet Bengale today
Last friday I saw The Favourite and I loved it! ? What a great movie
You smell lovely, and I’ve been thinking I should see that! I hear it’s very funny. I could do with something funny!
Just a warning, it’s labeled as a dark comedy, so it’s not lighthearted or goofy humor. The director seems fond of displaying torture: animal and human. I was really affected by his last movie for days after watching it and there were some scenes I literally couldn’t watch. The Favourite wasn’t quite as bad in that respect, but just sayin’…
Oh, I see. I intentionally didn’t watch the Lobster, but thought this one might be more to my taste…! Possibly not?
The Killing of a Sacred Deer? I wanted to see that, but maybe I’ll pass. I know the kind of affect you’re talking about. Revolutionary Road did that for me, and even Manchester by the Sea to some extent.
OMG, Revolutionary Road. So heartbreaking. It has really stuck with me in the decade-ish? since I saw it.
Actually, the last movie I SAW of his before the Favourite, which was Lobster. I skipped Killing of… Not sure I’m willing to suffer, lol. I’m sensitive that way.
What Elisa P says. Its NOT light hearted humor. Its a dark movir about people doing horrible things. The direction, cinematography, acting, dialogues and costumes are great imo. But I also realize Yorgos Lanthimos’ movies are not that easy to watch for everyone. Though The Favourite is quite accessible, I guess.
Yes, it’s relatively more accessible, lol. It seems like he has an almost a fetishistic delight with torture. I’m curious where that comes from on a personal level. I don’t really know anything about him as a person.
I watched this last weekend. It’s the movie I most looked forward to in the last year. I liked it but (like others) didn’t really find it funny (but it didn’t haunt me either).
So if you are looking for a good drama, check it out. For funny, maybe look elsewhere.
I loooooved The Favourite. His other films are all a little too misanthropic for me, but this had just enough sympathy for those wonderful nightmare women.
Yup, Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz were hilariously awful. ?
Happy Girl Scout day. Good to see that everyone has a perfume badge! I am wearing Mon Guerlain Rose Bloom ( think that’s the name) . Less lavender than the original and lacks a bit of depth but it could just be me as I seem to be finding it hard to smell some things at the moment.
I like the tea cosy, nice. The British Museum has some good fabric conservation clips …hang on, I ‘ll find a link as it is really interesting
We all need sashes to display our badges!
In Cuir de Lancome. Working on autopilot this month getting ready for work, needing a fail-safe it would seem.
Hey twin! We smell fab!

This is the 8th century Chinese embroidery that gets conserved
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3yKQMmsVF-U
There are eleven episodes of conserving Vulture Peak embroidery and it is fascinating. The analysis of the natural dyes , the type of embroidery etc.
That embroidery! I am bookmarking the video to watch later when it isn’t already past my bedtime.
Whoa! Looks at all the comments already today!
Sleepless night which led to tossing and turning and a wee bit of cussing? I guess the Sleep Gods didn’t feel I deserved that nap yesterday morning.
However, I’m up and moving and smelling great in two hefty blasts of SB Smoked Ambergris. I love this stuff more each time I spray it. So happy I got a full bottle, and thanks to LisaD and her PSA I got it 20% off. Score! ??
Yay for a new FB!!
Yes, especillay discounted! ??
Hurray for smelling good no matter what!
Hi NST
In Silk Way as that was what my hand reached for. This is actually very nice! My tastes are changing and though I found it quite alarming at first (all those bottles that I bought and don’t even LIKE any more…), things are settling down. I smell more notes in perfume, no wonder I pick things up now that didn’t bother me before.
I’m having an existential crisis at work. Suffice to say that I simply work too much, and I’ve now realized that I’m like Jada. I can only be happy when I have time to spend with my kids and dogs and garden. These days I’m constantly working and I hate it when I have to throw produce out, because I simply didn’t have time to cook it (I’m crazy, right) or when I get home at seven and we eat take out and everybody is unsettled. The worst part is that I brought it onto myself. I had a part time post, but was working full time hours, so pushed for full time. Of course now I’m working way more than full time hours and I’m feeling very sorry for myself. Also angry, for what was I thinking?
Silk Way is nice! I had a bottle and ended swapping it because I just didn’t reach for it. Sorry about the work demands. Is there anyway to step back? I can certainly understand the push to go full time, since it appears you were working it anyway… maybe a sabbatical for a bit if that’s an option?
Sorry about work 🙁 It’s something I’m navigating myself (though without kids in the mix, which I know makes things even more complicated!). One thing about the food situation: I like to cook a bunch on Sundays to carry me through the week. A lot of foods taste even better after reheating: soups, curries, anything braised. During the week, it’s quick and easy to kind of mix and match among several different dishes to have a variety of meals with minimal weeknight work.
Thanks Deva and Koyel. I think I was just feeling sorry for myself and this is a lovely place to unload. A sabbatical is what I need, but not an option at my current place of employment. And I’ll cook a bunch this Sunday. I usually find cooking relaxing and therapeutic – I’ve just recently been so tired that I took up residence on the couch. Maybe it is also early days and therefore more stressful. I’ll keep you updated and, should there be any pearls of wisdom that I acquire in the process, I’ll share it gladly!
A single pearl of wisdom that I was just discussing with springpansy yesterday: if you are able to occasionally work from home, that takes a lot of stress off. Being in a quiet, sunny home, surrounded by pets, wearing leggings and a sweatshirt, restricting communication with coworkers to texts and emails, and eating food from my fridge whenever I get peckish is a nice change of pace and really helps keep me from getting overwhelmed!
Sorry about your work.
I hope you have support or can find comfort from family and friends!
Is it possible for you to become an hourly worker?
Sorry to hear that work has you down.
Don’t be angry with yourself. My guess is they made it look better than the reality. I hope work and life balance out soon for you. ?
PSA: eBay has a code for 15% off today through 7pm PT. Code is PSAVETODAY. Not affiliated, but I did buy a couple things!
Thank you! Really need it!
Osmanthus Interdite from Parfum d’Empire today
Continuing with roses today in OJ Ta’if. It’s really hitting the spot.
Petunia, I will join you in Ta’if!
Awesome! You smell great!
You smell perfect.
House twin! You smell lovely!
Starting on Olivier Cresp with Angel Garden of Stars: La Rose which is as diffusive as the original, actually quite nice but this evening I added Caron Parfum Sacre on my other wrist where it holds its own against that beast of Angel.
Love the Garden of Stars collection. I remember when they came out, I thought they would be an easier Angel. They are not, though, they have their own complexity.
Oh yes, Lillyjo, they are different enough to be worth it. I have rose and violet and love them both, have you smelled them lily and pivoine?
I’ve smelled them all, and have had the violet and lily.
I don’t think they did very well in my area, they came and went very fast.
Seville a l’Aube today. I have a split of this which should last forever as one spray is all I really need for all day wafting.
Yum!
Today I’m wearing Au Dela.
Oh, I need to wear that soon! You smell wonderful!
Volutes today!
Smelling great! ?
Thank you!!
Back in Shalimar today. I think I’ll take a break from sampling and other things and just do Shalimar the whole week. It’s really hitting the spot. Plus I don’t have anything from either Oliver. I did have Black Opium but gave it to my son’s girlfriend.
Sometimes sampling gets in the way of wearing what we love. Enjoy your Shalimar week!
Time to give your favorite some love!
Thunked a sample of Clean Blonde Rose, a small not-rose scent. Nice enough for work, but not special.
Last day at work today, got some flowers and Amazon cards, then had dinner alone with some nice sind and a telephone Chat with a friend. The boyfriend will return tomorrow.
None of the perfumes that I have tried from Clean have worked for me. Nope, not at all.
Yay for last day at work!
Just jumping in there quickly to comment on the splitmeet super cheapie Esprit d’Oscar perfume that Oakland Fresca hosted. Wow I really love it! Thank you so much OF!! And I don’t usually like white flower perfumes that much. The opening is kind of extravagantly feminine but once it settles down it’s very pretty. And the drydown is drop dead gorgeous on me. Kind of a sweet woody benzoin (is that the right word?) that lasts forever. Very happy with my little 10 ml!
I won’t be coming on here as regularly because I don’t have internet at home and decided to downgrade from an iphone to a basic cell phone. I was getting a lot of eye strain and worry about all the time I was spending staring at the screen. I will try to jump in every so often though.
Always a pleasure to hear from you Sajini.
Awww, we will miss you!! Look forward to hearing from you whenever you do drop by!
Your post made me so happy! Was at Marshall’s today scrounging around for fancy liquid soaps at bargain basement prices, and saw the Esprit d’Oscar at 100 mls for $25 . . . just saying 🙂
Neither Olivier, currently, although I have had something from each and used them up or passed them on. Today I wore Tigers Nest. 🙂 it’s very good, but not the perfect incense frag for me. I had a meditation oil with nutmeg and tolu and frankincense and some other things, benzoin and oakmoss, once, and I keep looking for something that smells like that!
And I went through my stash to what I have for the swapmeet, but I have tidied up pretty well, and only have a couple of bottle and one small bag of decants and samples. Made me go look to see what I could order from the decanters.
Good for you for having a collection that you appreciate!
Another bright sunny day here, so that seems to be helping with the Daylight Savings hangover. It wouldn’t upset me to have at least a week of sunny weather to make up for all the wet, squishy weather that Winter brought. ??
SOTD = back in Relique d’Amour, and debating on if I want to try and thunk this sample. It would still take me quite a while to do so even with daily wearing.
How big is that sample? Seems you’ve been enjoying it frequently, or is it a one spritz wonder? Hallelujah for ?
It’s a little 1mL dabber sample, and I am an under-applier. I have a single favorite spot to apply perfume at/on. If I spray something 3 times, that’s wild & crazy behavior!
I’m starting to think that over applying makes it seem like a perfume doesn’t last. Yesterday I did 6 sprays of Cristalle, and I thought it had disappeared. This morning, though, it was still there, smelling lovely. I generally like to keep it to 3 sprays.
Cristalle is lovely! I would be very sad to have it do a disappearing act on my skin.
Ha! I won’t even tell you how I apply perfume ?, nor the amount lol ?
I like Relique d’Amour, but it doesn’t last on me at all. I am impressed that small applications work for you. I would suggest you keep it until warm weather, and try it in the heat before you give up on it altogether. I got quite a different scent profile from it when the air was warm and moist. 86 degrees and 99%humidity does wonderous things to skin! (Says the woman who grew up in the high desert of Wyoming…)
I like Relique d’Amour a lot! I want to make sure that the sample I have gets used and enjoyed before it goes off or evaporates. (And ‘Howdy’ former neighbor! I grew up in Colorado….)
🙂
Is it only Tuesday? Holy cow, what a week so far!
I was looking for my ISM, but couldn’t find it readily, so I put on 2 sprays of EL Azuree. Needed something strong-ish to distract my mind (and also to forget about the snow we got overnight). It’s working so far.
Perfume is such a great distraction. Sometimes when my mind won’t let me sleep, I just count perfumes I love to clear my head. Lol. Every time Estee Lauder has it’s gwp I tell myself to get Azuree or Knowing, but then I don’t.
Counting perfumes! That’s awesome..
They are kind of in the same vein, both potent and very old-school. I can send you some of each if you like; I have 10 life-times supply.
