He also created one of the first “celebrity fragrances,” L’Interdit (French for “forbidden”), designed initially for and later endorsed by [Audrey] Hepburn. “We never had a contract, like other designers do,” Mr. Givenchy told the Chicago Tribune in 1989. “We only had love and that is why it worked so well.”

Oh! I didn’t realize. May he rest in peace.
I was just getting interested in Givenchy. Givenchy must have been just as important as many other houses in the 60’s & on, but I don’t hear about it at all (but I am a style outsider).
L’interdit and Le De were some of the fragrances my mom wore in the 60’s. I just ordered some vintage Le De. No idea if it smells as it did then!
I didn’t realize this morning or I would have put on Eau de Givenchy.
May he Rest In Peace and may we all learn from the quote, “We only had love and that is why it worked so well.”
Here is the famous Bettina blouse:

Thanks for the pic, I did not know!
That phrase needs to be a #goal in life, period.
How strange. I wore (the Mythique) L’Interdit last night to bed. What a sad day.
Vintage Le De is one of my ride or die fragrances. Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn were iconic separately and as a team. Her wardrobe in Charade was perfection. I’d wear most of those outfits today. It’s very sad but I like to think that they are together again.
