In step with LVC’s dedication to authenticity, and with the help of Brooklyn-based perfume house D.S. & Durga, they also recreated the scent of Einstein’s jacket: a warm blend of burley pipe tobacco, papyrus manuscripts and vintage leather. A bottle of this exclusive scent accompanies each jacket, along with a replica of the No. 97 auction paddle that was used to bid on this historic garment.
— For $1200, you can buy a replica of the Menlo Cossack leather jacket that Albert Einstein bought from Levis in the 1930s, and that the company bought back, at auction, a couple years ago. It comes with a bottle of the fragrance. Read more at AS WORN BY ALBERT EINSTEIN… LEVI’S® VINTAGE CLOTHING REPRODUCES ICONIC JACKET at Levi Strauss. What a silly, totally fun fashion project. Hats off to Levis for creating a high end product that is not astronomical, and that exudes panache and humor (and history).
And, if it were 1/10th the price–I’d get in line!!
I guess — maybe astronomical is in the eye of the beholder? It could be worse, but I think it would be even cooler at half the price 😉
A replica auction paddle ?! Such a tenuous tie-in. They can keep the paddle and knock a few hundred off the price !
🙂
