French niche line Histoires de Parfums will launch This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.4 and This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.5, two unisex follow-ups to 2016's This is Not a Blue Bottle (and see also This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.2 and This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.3).
In the Yin Yang philosophy, every element in the universe has its own opposite: feminine-masculine, day-night, fire-water, natural-synthetic… Yin & Yang are two complementary forces that are interdependent on one another. They are two aspects of the same reality.
This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.4 (above left) ~ "This is a perfume composed exclusively of natural essences and inspired by the universal principle of Yin. The lunar strength of Davana and Ylang-Ylang takes root in the balmy depths of Labdanum and Opoponax. Lunar and luscious, a velvety, amber perfume that is profoundly carnal. This is the perfume of Yin." Additional notes include lavander, cardamom, tonka bean, benzoin and patchouli.
This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.5 (above right) ~ "This is a perfume composed exclusively of synthetic molecules and inspired by the universal principle of Yang. Solar Ozonic strength encounters the subtle transparency of the Aldehyde attraction to attain a fresh Minerality. Solar, Ozonic Citrus, Floral Aldehyde and Mineral, a perfume that is almost imaginary. This is the perfume of Yang." Additional notes include karismal super, floral fantasy, ambroxan and musk T.
Histoires de Parfums This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.4 and 1.5 will debut in March, in 15, 60 and 120 ml Eau de Parfum.

Are these the ones that have received so many negative comments? I am curious about them.
I saw those for the first time this week, maybe I haven’t been paying enough attention (?) But they must sell, I guess, if they’ve now done 4 flankers.
To me they are not flankers but completely different perfumes. It’s like a This is not a Blue Bottle collection, sort of.
Everyone can have their own definition, of course, but the way we use the term “flanker” here: if you release a scent, then later you release another scent building on the name of the first scent, that’s a flanker. Doesn’t matter if the juice is related or not (often the juice of a flanker has nothing to do with the original) and doesn’t matter if the brand calls it a flanker or not (many object to the use of the term). It’s a purely promotional / marketing construct.
I’ve heards lots of bad comments about their previous releases, but the Yin one says it’s natural, maybe will be a less screechy chemical horror?
I remember that Calypso and someone else here mentioned this week that it was a scrubber and very tenacious. Horrid. I do not know to which one they were referring to.
To be honest at this moment I’m not sure since the sample bottle is at home and I’m in my office. However I think it was just plain This Is Not a Blue Bottle. It was vile. I’ll confirm though later on when I go home.
I’ve checked and the sample I have is for version 1.2. I still think it’s awful. Maybe it’s the white musks. It’s cloying and sickeningly sweet.
Don’t have time right now to read anything about this, but like both bottles a LOT!
The bottles for this collection are gorgeous! Love them!
I’m still traumatized by what Calypso wrote yesterday that if and when I encounter this line, I will just glance at the bottles and move on.
I’m still traumatised too! When I took out the sample to see which version it was, I got a faint whiff and felt nauseous again!
I can’t quite get past the comment, “a perfume that is almost imaginary.”
Can I use imaginary money to pay for it?
Histoires is a really terrific line. I’ve sampled most of their output, and they rarely put a foot wrong. Original “This is not a blue bottle” was terrific. And if you don’t care for these, they have SO many other great fragrances. 1804, 1876, 1899, 1969, Tubereuse 3, all thoughtful and delightful creations, enough to have made me buy full bottles of them.
