A two part video (the second part is below the jump) by Prada + Elle, in support of Prada Candy, Prada Candy Kiss, Prada Candy Gloss and Prada Candy Florale (plus a bunch of high end Prada clothing). Elle calls it "an exclusive mini movie that celebrates women who break the rules—and would never consider changing themselves to fit someone else's ideal".
Hm.
Absolutely agree. I’d even go so far as Hmmmmm.
Was rushing out the door this AM when I read your comment. Laughed so hard I nearly spat out my tea!
It is one of the strangest things I’ve seen recently. Looked around, couldn’t really find any sort of commentary about it online other than someone on YouTube who commented they would apply for a job at Prada, and act accordingly if they didn’t get it.
Wow…. Look how far we’ve come since 9 to 5????
RIGHT THO. That movie came out when I was born- and change a few bits of dressing and same ole sexist tropes still apply! 🙁
It’s sort of shocking they thought this would speak to young women in 2017.
And I know we don’t bring this up on NST, but let me say this: they thought this would appeal to a BROAD RANGE (wink) of young working women in 2017!
LOL BROAD ! 😉
Robin !
Don’t tayz me, bro !!! 😀

Okay, so I know it’s not supposed to be deep or anything but really? Like what was the point? Prada is for the rebel lady? On the contrary, the price point of Prada ENSURES a rebelle could not easily afford it. And notices how the rebelles are standing in queue or working as an assistant- they are not the ones running the resumes/bank loans. The rebelles are the ones doing a chorus line, as women often do in videos.
Ah, whatever, Prada, you trying to surf on the current re-evaulation of men, okay, but this was not well done.
I did not expect it to be deep, but really it’s shockingly insulting. To everyone, as near as I can tell.
So my weird theory is that it is trying to tap into the anti-elitist populist wave by recasting perfume as “authentic” and “uncensored.” Prada is REAL (not fake news) as well as able to take on powerful, abusive male bosses…
A whole lotta suspending disbelief here.
I guess? But what a weird thing to present to young women. Beat the man: stamp your feet and make a mess. Gosh.
Plus, there is a page on Elle where you can “shop the outfits”, and the prices not exactly anti-elitist.
Is it because I’m not a millenial I don’t get it?
Also, why haven’t they released Candy Man yet? I should really plug that concept to them.
Despite how stupid this is, I would probably buy Candy Man.
(And by “this” I meant the commercial, not the idea of Candy Man).
Just embarrassing. Like their customers are all airheads.
Yes. Ill behaved airheads .
