Beauty brand Glossier will launch their debut fragrance, Glossier You.
An ambiguous scent that’s hard to describe but easily appreciated. Creamy, sparkling, clean, warm. That’s You.
***
... a subtle scent with equal parts powder and musk and the zing of fresh-cut iris. “I want it to smell like your boyfriend’s neck after he has been wearing cologne for eight hours,” [founder Emily Weiss] says.
Glossier You was developed by perfumers Dora Bagriche and Frank Voelkl.
Glossier You will be available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum. It can be pre-ordered now at Glossier, $60.

Perhaps it’s appropriate that this bottle resembles the packaging for a laundry detergent? The ad copy is terrible too. To think someone was paid to come up with that.
..to be more specific, a detergent meant for women’s undergarments.
I know what you mean: absent a sense of scale and background, it looks like a luxe detergent bottle.
And yet I sort of like the bottle. I’m mentally adjusting for the size — only 50 mls — and figuring that it must be frosted glass with an ombre of the red/pink color, plus an indentation.
I have to assume you’re right and that it looks nicer, and less like plastic, in person.
Packaged in a sublime bleach bottle [haha]
🙂
I’d say Ms. Weiss has had extraordinary good fortune in finding a boyfriend whose cologne smells like “equal parts powder and musk and the zing of fresh-cut iris” after 8 hours. 😉
But will it make me a glossier me? 😛
I hope the bottle looks better in person. In the pic it looks like a cheap plastic bottle with a dent in it.
It reminds me of those little plastic toy milk bottles I had as a kid.
I know, right? Powder was the last thing I expected from glossier. ????
Her market is 20 years old “it” girls so I’m sure this will go over very well for that consumer. I’m not that girl and so it does nothing for me but I am very interested in the scent. She’s had incredible success with all her other products.
I received a sample of Glossier You. Not for me. This fragrance smells cheap, cheap, cheap! Very synthetic iris… but it is very different from the gourmand, fruitchouli, floriental fragrances most It girls are being sold, so I think it will do well.
I’ve got a sample coming next week. (I needed more boy brow anyways.) I was hopeful because I love iris and powder, but if it’s going to be a screetchy synthetic…. 🙁
Just the thing to go with boy brow, cloud paint and skin tint. The Millenial Pink ™ keeps on rolling! There is now a body wash and lotion which has these notes….
One thing tho: This sounds an awful lot like a cross between Neroli Portofino (v popular) and Prada’s Iris (also still very popular). If you check the website (as I just did) and do a term or subject search using colognes or perfumes, you will find those perfumes or scent noes come up very often. Very good use of a blog comment section, if I may say so myself.
(on sick leave, so what else am I gonna do with my time?)
I think you mentioned having some surgery a few weeks back. I hope you are recovering well and bounce back in no time!
Hey you! I did have surgery this week and am on sick leave! Recovery continues apace! Thanks so much for well wishes! 🙂
This reminds me of CM8’s thumbprint cookies except hers has 100x more taste and character.
I love pretty much all irises (even the Prada kind), and Iris 39 and Musc 25 (both done by Voelkl) are probably my favorite Le Labos, so I’m hopeful. Also, while I’m on 40’s doorstep and about as far from “it girl” as it gets, I’ve been impressed with their stuff I’ve used so far. I’m not fangirling out over the bottle (not that I’ve seen it in person yet, but it looks like it’s aiming at cute vs being gorgeous, which is fine), but my perfumes live in a dark cabinet anyway, so…whatever. I appreciate a kickin’ bottle, but it’s not mandatory. 🙂
I’m late but the brand Glossier is all about making the customer crave products in plain-looking packaging. Supposedly its very modern and woke and appeals to hard-to-impress millenials.
Which explains why I’m not intrigued.
