Calvin Klein will launch Obsessed for Women and Obsessed for Men in July. The new fragrances are modern interpretations of the brand's Obsession for Women (1985) and Obsession for Men (1986). Obsessed will be fronted by Kate Moss, using imagery shot by Mario Sorrenti for a 1990s Obsession ad campaign (along with images of Sorrenti shot by Moss).
Obsessed for Women ~ with white lavender and musk. ["A masculine Fougère structure is contrasted with feminine warmth; the fragrance is formed around a base of White Lavender, while creamy Musks envelope and sensually soften. The tension of the aromatic top notes with the smooth creaminess of the back, further explores the tension between the masculine and the feminine." With notes of citrus, neroli, elemi, violet leaf, lavender, purple sage, musk helvetolide, ambrette and muscenone. In 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products.]
Obsessed for Men ~ with black vanilla. ["A compelling heart of Black Vanilla is sophisticatedly structured with dark, dimensional woods, providing the tension between a feminine melodiousness and masculine strength. Ambrox elegantly cuts through all, lending a sleek and contemporaneous edge." With notes of grapefruit, Sichuan pepper, cardamom, cedar leaves, labdanum, blonde leather, patchouli, black vanilla and ambrox. In 30, 75 and 125 ml and in matching grooming products.]
Calvin Klein Obsessed for Women will be in 100 ml; Obsessed for Men will be in 125 ml. There will surely be other sizes as well, and I will update with additional notes when I can.

O.M.G.! Obsession is the perfume that started it all for me. My quest a few years back for a “less dated” Obsession is what subsequently propelled my fall into the rabbit hole. Could this be the one?! I am so looking forward to this.
Oh, very good luck then!
Cool idea the older imagery used, kind of like a flashback. But I really doubt this is anything to write home about, just another flanker in a sea of gazillion flankers.
Probably, but we’ll see.
But what if it is not! Oh, the suspense!
Sounds like these will smell like the sheets after an “Obsessive” night. I like the original well enough but these sound confused to me.
Although I was sick of it at the time, I’ve recently come to appreciate the original Obsession. Such a sensual modern oriental. It’s worth revisiting!
I love my Sheer Obsession ( or is it Obsession Sheer?). Want to try these also. Hoping it’s not gallons of white musk in the women’s version.
*quickly glances at a calendar to check what year it is*
Very creative work, Coty. :/
I’m curious about the notes, it seems like they have switched the notes for the masculine and feminine. A Black Vanilla seems more interesting than a lavender and white musk composition, but i don’t put much faifth in CK scents, they don’t seem to have enough budget for good formulas
Kate Moss continues to look emackated. It looks like they Photoshopped the ribs away her waist looks like a deflated balloon and I am just sick of the don’t leave anything to the imagination look of the 80s. What Demi Moore did was shocking at the time but she was ripe with motherhood whereas Kate was just a drug-addicted anorexic crying out for help.
Ack! In my haste to be judgmental, I failed to mention that a kind NSTer sent me a decant of the original Obsession and wowee!
Wowee–good or bad? I missed the 80s oriental wave and have a bourgeoning love of that style of perfume. Worth trying to get my hands on some original/vintage, or no?
Also, I agree about Kate Moss in the ad.
Wowee as in if you can find the vintage version, go for it.
Back in the day I used to own an Obsession imitation called Sensation, which I wore the heck out of. It’s a scent that brings me back to the days when I would stroll thru the halls of my high school wearing stuff like Chanel and Halston (passed-ons from a friend at the time), and everyone else would be in Love’s Baby Soft (which I also had).
I think I still have an Obsession sample somewhere…
For me, ambrox(an) is the bane of modern perfumery, so, no thanks.
It’s a thin, almost non-existent smell. This so-called perfume has almost no scent at all! My association – dusty roadside grass. Sorry. Maybe I’m anosmic to its musk, maybe it’s a bad tester.. I’ll try it one more time, hope I’ll smell something..
